last time i did a PMD au, so now it's time for a pokemon au!
more lore under the cut:
yuma and makoto are kinda like the subway bosses - a challenging post-game double battle duo. yuma's pokemon focus on status moves and support while makoto's are sweepers. they compliment each other perfectly
mimikyu used to mimic pikachu, but after befriending yuma's pikachu, it has decided instead to take creative liberties with its disguise
yuma and makoto's team on the doodle page are not battlers. theyre just pokemon that chill with them
yakou is a retired professor! the stoutland actually used to be a lillipup belonging to his wife.
tatsugiri is known for hiding from danger inside dondozo and plotting from within. yakou felt a little solidarity with the guy and brought him into an extra sturdy "dondozo" (submarine)
for protection, yakou gifts yuma a pichu when he first enters the NDA. eevee was already yuma's (or, well, no.1's) partner because im basically borrowing the idea from pixelatedraindrops's au, but it isnt much of a battler (yet)
halara is the strongest trainer of the bunch and takes competitive battling seriously. just like them, their xatu can see into the past with perfect clarity by covering the eye that sees into the future.
yes they're still allergic to cats. alolan persian is simply worth it. just look at em! this was also inspired by loremaster's pokemon au bc alolan persian is such a good pick for halara's favorite
fubuki's celebi isn't technically hers- it's a longtime friend of the clockford family that was sent to look after her
she has a frosmoth bc her name means Blizzard! also that moth looks like it owns gucci. she has a delphox because she's a huge JRPG fan, and i think she'd love the mage class. only second to the hero!
yomi's malamar and gengar join in on the fun whenever he's torturing prisoners, but his houndoom sometimes seems sad about it.
vivia doesnt put effort into catching pokemon. he just tends to... attract them... whether he likes it or not
shinigami is an actual duskull, but in the labyrinths she turns into her humanoid form.
desuhiko seems to have a pawmot and nothing else? how does he get around during investigations so fast?

A bit belated of a topic, but last week's holiday and a few other things have me positing the possibilities of "joke" weapons for War Bots.
The tricky thing is that it's hard to define what a joke weapon really counts as. My go-to definition for a joke character, weapon, move, etc in a game would be something like "funny in execution but not practical", but this is still a hard line to draw. In large part it's because comedy is subjective, and what one person finds funny could just be annoying to someone else, but it's also hard to define what the "funny" part should be.
For instance, Smash Bros has a variety of answers to what joke characters it has. To a casual fan, characters like Jigglypuff, Mr. Game and Watch, Wii Fit Trainer, Duck Hunt, and Piranha Plant are joke characters due to their conceptual absurdity in just being playable in this game. To a more competitively inclined person, Ganondorf and Little Mac are instead the joke characters because of their incredibly min-maxed skillsets making them extremely unviable in serious competitive play, thus the joke becomes not their existence, since they feel like they seriously should be here, but rather their functionality. Sometimes these opinions align, Plant has been considered pretty lackluster, but sometimes they directly clash, like Jigglypuff being one of Melee's best characters. But according to the series creator (not looking up the exact source so Dude Trust Me), Smash doesn't have joke characters at all. Every character is made as seriously as everyone else, regardless of who they are or how well they end up doing competitively. I personally think that Smash's only true joke character is Melee Pichu, an absurd and dated inclusion almost certainly here due to Melee's tiny development period leading to abundance of clones in its roster, and a character so deliberately self-detrimental with no redeeming qualities that it's a miraculous accident that there are worse characters competitively than them. Their trophies even allude to jow terrible they are, and how they should just scramble for items rather than seriously fighting on their own. But even then, when they returned for Ultimate, they were "un-joked" and turned into a serious character with the lowest durability and a self-damage mechanic, but also genuine strengths over Pikachu that made them a seriously competitive character that was even NERFED early into the game's lifespan. Pichu is a real character now who has a genuine place in the game's cast, and isn't just a comically undertuned throw pick used to flex on your friends if you somehow win with them.
A similar but more infamous deliberately bad fighting game character is Dan Habiki, who got his start in Street Fighter Alpha before becoming a series mainstay. In Alpha, he was very literally a joke, made to make fun of Capcom's rival fighting game company SNK and their suspiciously similar looking gi-wearing fireball-throwing martial arts man, Ryo. To poke fun at this imitation of Ryu, Dan is a deliberately terrible clone of Ryu, with a pitifully weak close-range fireball in place of the gameplay-defining hadouken of his more competent counterparts. His one strength? Taunting. In Alpha, every other character can only taunt once per round, but Dan can spam his taunt as much as he pleases. He can even pull off a super taunt, which uses meter like a normal super, but does no damage and leaves him exceedingly vulnerable. The ultimate flex. This puts him in a very stark contrast to Akuma, the secret superboss character of SF2 that was banned in that game's competitive play, but has since become toned down to be a much more competitively fair character in the rest of the series. Similarly, and just like Pichu, Dan was turned into a serious character in terms of competitive usability in later installments, though retained his comical nature by incorporating his goofy nature into his gameplay. He's still funny, but now he's taken seriously as a character. In SF5 he actually somehow had infinite combo, a rarity in a big-name modern fighting game. This was patched out by giving his aforementioned terrible fireball, which is part of the infinite combo, a random chance to come out as a stronger red fireball. This gave Dan an appropriately funny random chance to throw out a stronger attack, but also the way the red fireball launches the opponent breaks the infinite. It's a buff and a nerf at the same time, a paradox so delightfully and thoroghly Dan.
Fighting games have a more storied history of deliberate joke characters past Pichu and Dan, which are too numerous to go into here in full detail. Skullgirls has Fukua and Robo Fortune, parodies of real characters Filia and Miss Fortune of dubious canonocity that owe their existence to jokes too complicated for me to explain now. Sega's old internal crossover fighting game, Fighters Megamix, has a roster including cast members from Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, Sonic the Fighters, and... a car from Daytona USA. Excellent youtuber Leon Massey has a recent video discussing Tekken 3's two terrible bottom tier joke characters, which I highly recommend giving a watch.
But this is all a bit of a tangent, with the main point being that the culture of fighting games makes it unclear sometimes what a joke character really is, while also deliberate joke characters are often made more serious as a series goes on, but still retaining their identity as "funny".
For a more relevant genre, let's talk class shooters... and by that I mean TF2. Overwatch doesn't really have joke characters, it's not a game devoid of humor but it likes to take its cast seriously.
TF2 doesn't really have joke characters either, the cast was made well ahead of the game devolving into mediocre Adult Swim humor, but TF2 *does* have interchangeable weapons introduced later on. Most of these are serious additions to a character's arsenal, even if in somewhat comical forms like a ham sandwich or a soda can. But even in its earlier alternate weapons, there additions that felt like deliberate downgrades added for either sheer fun or comedy value, like the Huntsman being a questionably useful alternative to the hyper-efficient sniper rifle that's validated by just kinda being funny to use and see in action.
As the game went on though, there's very clear instances of joke weapons that aren't useful but funny, weapons that are plain bad but not in a funny way, and weapons with comical concepts but genuine uses in gameplay. The Holy Mackerel is functionally identical to Scout's weak default baseball bat, but announces every hit in the kill feed and humiliates enemies on death with the condemnation of a "Fish Kill", because hitting people with a fish is funny. The Hot Hand meanwhile has Pyro slap people twice with a unique glove, and is objectively kinda useless, which adds up to being a vaguely funny throw weapon. The Pomson 3000 is a cool-looking shotgun alternative for the Engineer that is just terrible, but in a way that isn't funny or interesting, just kinda frustrating. And the Second Banana is one of the final weapons ever added, given to Heavy as a gag pity prize to rub in how he lost to Pyro in a vote for a major update... but it ended up being a seriously viable sidegrade to the Sandvich, with its stat adjustments giving it pros and cons that fit a slightly different playstyle over Heavy's mainstay secondary. It was a joke in concept, but a valid choice in practice.
This all adds up to joke options being kind of. Weird. Not only in the variable nature of comedy, but also in how seriously they get taken in practice. Sometimes what wasn't meant to be a joke becomes one, sometimes what was meant to be a joke is taken seriously, and sometimes this status flips over time.
...this post became very long and eventually wasn't about War Bots, so I'll go into my ideas there later on. There's more I wanted to talk about, didn't even get to taunt kills, but god this is a lot to type on a phone so give me a break.

OK SO I've been wanting to draw my pokemon trainer self insert with all of her pokemon for a while but...it's just not doable LOL I decided to do a group pic for the pokemon she has for each region!
For example, these are all the Pokemon she has that were first discovered in the Johto region. Most people would start with Kanto, butttt, her first journey was through Johto, so I decided to start there.
Her outfit is based on my FIRST outfit design for her (it's not her current one). She'll have a different outfit every pic! At the end I'll try to make some kind of nice ref for her.

Petal—Meganium—♀— Calm Nature
Caught in her sister’s garden in Celadon City as a Chikorita. Very mellow and prefers to go with the flow. She isn’t one for crowds and prefers opens spaces with plenty of flora. She enjoys spending time in the nearby meadow looking after the local Pokémon that live there. Petal is a great mediator and often helps settle various disputes.
Ash (Ashen)—Typhlosion—♂—Timid Nature
Obtained from Prof. Elm in New Bark Town. He was supposed to be a starter for new trainers, but wasn’t suited for it due to his high anxiety. With a specialized treatment plan, his anxiety is mostly under control. He’s, overall, quite timid. He rarely interacts with others and spends most of his time sunbathing or battling whoever challenges him.
Blitz—Shiny Pichu—♂—Rash Nature
The child of Dia’s Pokemon: Lightning (Raichu) and Vanilla (Alolan Raichu). Born at the same time as his cousin, Tess (Pichu). As a fairly young Pokemon, he doesn’t make the best decisions. He’s quick to start fights for fun but also quick to run when it doesn’t pan out. He wants to be a great battler like his dad someday, but hasn’t seemed to do well thus far.
Special notes: Shiny palette comes from GSC.
Tess (Tesla)—Pichu—♀—Timid Nature
The child of Dia’s Pokemon: Duskio (Umbreon) and her sister’s Pokemon: Thunder (Pikachu). Born the same time as her cousin Blitz (Pichu). As a fairly young Pokemon, she still clings closely to her parents. She’s very meek and tends to avoid most other Pokemon besides. However, she usually tags along with Blitz in an attempt to keep him out of trouble. She seems to have a good instinct for battling, even though she isn’t particularly interested in it.
Special Notes: Spiky-Eared Pichu!
Volt (Voltaic)—Laturn—♂—Calm Nature
Dia fished him out by the bayside in Cherrygrove City as a chinchou. He was happy to join her and her Pokemon. Volt enjoys sunbathing, taking relaxing swims. and naps. He's not much for activity and just tends to go with the flow. Although laid back, he's the first to rush out and help anyone in trouble. Volt's a certified Pokemon Lifeguard.
Dom (Dominic)—Espeon—♂—Hasty Nature
The child of Dia’s Pokemon: Navy (Vaporeon) and Syntha (Leafeon). A prankster with little impulse control. Dom likes to drag his brother Damian (Jolteon) around on mischievous adventures; usually harmless pranks are involved. He often makes visits out to Violet City because he enjoys teasing tourists with at Sprout Tower with his wild Pokemon friends.
Duskio—Umbreon—♂—Impish Nature
The first Pokemon that Dia ever caught! He had been corrupted in early Shadow Pokemon projects and released into the wild. Never fully a shadow Pokemon, Dia was able to unlock his heart and return him to normal. He’s very loyal and sees himself as a protector, especially now that he has a child: Tess (Pichu). When he’s not guarding/on patrol, he greatly enjoys playing with the younger Pokemon or spending time with his partner Thunder (Pikachu).
Dell (Dellutio)—Shiny Umbreon—♂—Bold Nature
Given as a gift to Dia by her father when on a trip to Orre. Even as an Eevee, his goal was always to become as strong as possible. He’s very bold, ambitious, and stubborn. He cares deeply for his partner, Escalus (Flareon) and would do anything for him.
Special Notes: Shiny palette comes from the GameCube games.
Cress (Crescent)—Teddiursa—♀—Rash Nature
She originally belonged to the daughter of a berry farmer. Cress desperately wanted to leave the farm and see the world, so she ran away. Dia found her and brought her back to her original trainer, but, the daughter agreed to let Cress join Dia on her journey. Cress is a hotheaded and passionate gal. Most other Pokemon shy away from her due to her personality and she has trouble making friends. Despite this, she’s actually excellent at taking care of eggs and younger Pokemon.

Whoa, so interesting for her to be remembered, I made her years ago... (2019 mayb?) She wasn't as developed as some other concepts of mine, I never settled on a name proper, but I think of her as named something kind of severe. Like 'Clarity'... in contrast with her very sick, hazy mind.
She's genuinely just a vvvvery very ill, disordered individual, I imagined her very troubled when developing as a baby, put-off and violent towards any littermates or parent figure. She's not very old... young adolescent? And her diet is 'improper', as shaymin aren't meant to predate on other pokes, so she is underweight as her body isn't absorbing nutrients properly. Though I think unlike our world, pokemon are magical, enough that there is some wiggle room, esp as a pseudo-legendary... so her diet won't kill her, just hobble her, maybe further her unwellness. It's not exactly a hunger like a normal predator, it is something possessing her to do this, I would say almost like a delusion (that this is her 'destiny' in some manner, that's why it 'feels so good'.)
Eventually she was slated to have a mate that was a very overweight vaporeon my wife developed, one that got really good at hunting in its own habitat ww... I knew my wife was thinking about her being drowned, pulled into the lake by him.
As for OCs, I have several, many were made during a particular winter in 2017 where me and my wife sat down to design several pkmn to pair with one another. :3 Most of them compiled here & most didn't get a name. I think only the zigzagoon had one, 'Dart'... His mate, the persian with a blue gem, is named Lapis. I remember their narrative was one where her owner desperately wishes to breed her for her rare color mutation, but she is so persnickety and will not deign any proposed sires... The owner isn't cruel so doesn't force anything into her. But then she becomes charmed by a dirty little stray zigzagoon and instead obsessively wants to groom, cuddle, mate with him lol, and the owner just has to be like sigh, if this is what she wants....
I believe the chinchou was paired with a goreabyss that was very saturated (from her successful diet, much bloodsucking done ww), they meet oneday and she decides to not... kill him, for now. (?) The shuppet paired with a swirlix that is repulsed by sweets, thus suffers from a poor diet also. When the swirlix is unwell, the shuppet is able to feed on her negative emotions, and when the swirlix gets nursed back to health by shuppet, then it is his turn to become lethargic and unwell (no longer able to feed from her.)
Butterfree, electrike etc. were all just design pitches, not developed.
Since I really like the 'chu line, I had various sonas of them also. I had a 'set' of 2 pichu which were 'composite sonas' to represent myself, born from the same egg but instead of recognizing one another as siblings, saw each other as halves of the same whole. Technically they have defects effecting their development, improper tails and one has lop ears (cartilage issue?) Their egg was abandoned, so they have no troupe, and they're unable to be kind to one another actually... so they're sort of doomed to die if no one takes care of them. There's alternate timelines where, if they're somehow very lucky, they are able to evolve into pikachu/raichu... but then just become absolute monsters like that. Like I mean flat out going to become rapists kfkfkf
The pikachu, Muka, was an exploration of if those pichu weren't born separately, instead combining into 1 being. In this case, the lop-eared one would be melanistic (which I sometimes think of 'shadow' pokemon as being that in this world) ; the result is Muka is very visibly a chimera. He is still abandoned as an egg, and development was very difficult, but he has a 'more complete mind', less fractured.
One of my most recent sonas was Hondew, I made him like, early ~2021 or something... another chimera. (This concept stuck w/ me for a sec...) I have a write-up of him still:
"As a trapinch (and vibrava) he was a very simple minded creature, highly food motivated. would overeat if he could. but he was just getting by in the desert and could only do so much. Surviving to his final evolution was good fortune. The resulting intelligence and stats boost... are used all towards his high food drive. but now he also has the ability to enjoy playing with his food, and devise ways to hurt things.
his moveset is focused on paralysis (mean look, thunder fang) to slow things down and avoid giving chase(or being chased). he's not a fast flier, nor can he fly very high. as he gets fatter and less mobile, it means he problem solves how to work around these things. enabling him further..
he delights in eating baby pokemon and eggs, there's a sick enjoyment in doing so. and he clears the area of unwanted competition by making an inhospitable environment where there's a dirty rotten baby eater on the loose ! :(
He'll never pick a fight directly with a pokemon as high leveled as him. he has patience and tenacity on his side. he will play the long con of harassing you, tormenting you, and evading you with a tricky moveset. and most pokemon just would rather live elsewhere, where the competition is more manageable and there isn't a huge jerk nipping at your heels every second.
he likes to manipulate things in his hands, and the frequent use makes them more dextrous than most flygons. he can often be seen holding something. meticulously running his claws over it. in the case of avvy's shinx, he loves to touch her fur and carries her around everywhere. she's very novel, as shinx are not native to his deserts. he keeps her on a whim, but grows very attached to her over time"
Aside from him I think my most recent exploits were these other unnamed ones, a salandit and a togekiss. The togekiss is there to love and fuss and chuff over the little archen that nips at it, and the salandit is endlessly consuming cutiefly. I have a liepard and nidorino in the works, but they're indistinct in my mind still...
(Often I suppose naming the pokemon doesn't always come to mind bc they are equivalent to wild animals & sometimes it just doesn't really feel important or cross the mind.)
My only other OCs I belieeeve are in PMD verse, compiled here. Their narratives are not very different from the plot of their respective games. I think only the PMD sky set of phanpy (Vvyrd) and vulpix (Vivi) deviate, as Vivi evolves and her nature changes as a ninetales, she eventually steals Vvyrd away into the mountains to live in isolation. The skitty/mudkip were only from playing the demo fr DX so I don't think they had proper names... The super team was of a bulbasaur (Periwinkle) and fennekin (Wish) !

So I was inspired by @cocosnowlo-drawings latest piece about Friede and Cap being partners in all circumstances. It wouldn't leave my head so I wrote out a short piece where Friede's reckless and it's from Cap's POV cause I thought it'd be a fun challenge haha!
Series: Pokemon Horizons

“Cap!”
Regardless of the pain coursing through his small body, the sheer horror of seeing Friede jumping after him off the cliff stole all the air out of his little lungs.
“No!” Cap cried when he saw his human dashing after him just seconds prior. “Don’t do it!”
Except Friede couldn’t verbally understand him, because he was human. Not did that stop them from sharing a deep, special bond mind you. It was just at this moment, seeing Friede reaching out for him during free fall that Cap wished his human took heed of his words.
Desperate fingers grabbed hold of his own outstretched paw. Cap immediately felt arms wrapped around him, tucking his form against a solid chest just seconds before impact.
Cap didn’t know whose cry was louder; his or Friede’s. They rolled and tumbled, scraped against rocks and other sharp bits. Throughout this terrifying experience, his human never once let go of him, and Cap clung to his shirt with his eyes squeezed shut until at long last, they came to a stop.
Several beats passed in silence. Cap felt disoriented, finding that flicking his right ear and trying to move his tail caused a lot of pain. Still, panic drowned out the pain when the arms around him loosened. Cap scrambled to sit up properly so he could get a good look at Friede.
Friede’s eyes were closed, and it was from being on his chest that let Cap knew he still breathed. The lens of his goggles were cracked. His favorite jacket had tears in them. Cap spotted scrapes on his cheeks and his hands, with more likely hidden beneath his clothes. What he hated seeing the most was the red liquid trailing down the side of his face, originating from somewhere beneath his goggles.
He was still. Cap hated seeing him still. Friede wasn’t meant to be still.
Cap carefully crawled up his chest to gently place a paw on his uninjured cheek. He lightly patted it.
“Wake up,” he said.
“Pika,” it sounded within the silent clearing.
Cap fought to keep his fear in place when Friede didn’t react. He couldn’t let it pull at his electricity, making static build up in his cheeks. He’d long since evolved from that Pichu who couldn’t control the power he held within but at this moment, he felt that kind of little again.
“Please wake up,” he pleaded, patting Friede’s cheek again.
“Pika pika,” was what stirred Friede at last. Cap pulled back at the soft groan, giving his human some room to reorient himself. Judging from the sharp hiss of pain when he shifted, he didn’t get out of the fall unscathed.
“Ugh… Cap? ‘zzat you?” Friede mumbled, blinking a couple of times. He raised a careful hand to gently cradle his head.
“Yes! Why did you do that? That was stupid!” Cap grumbled back.
To Friede, he only heard high pitched, aggravated squeaks. A chuckle turned wince slipped past his lips. Carefully, he tried to push himself into a sitting position. Cap watched worryingly as his arms shook but he managed enough to lean against the rocky wall for support.
“I’m guessing that you’re mad at me, huh?”
“Yes! You didn’t have to do that!” Cap responded, crossing his arms whilst sporting a displeased look on his face. “You had my Pokeball on you! You could have returned me!”
Friede stared at him with faint amusement in his eyes. Despite the worry still brimming beneath his fur, Cap was almost tempted to shock him for finding this situation anywhere remotely humorous.
“Sorry Cap. My body just moved on its own,” Friede eventually apologized. It seemed that he understood why from the rapid squeaks. He did look a touch remorseful now. “Sorry too for worrying you like this. You’re not too badly hurt, yeah?”
Cap wanted to keep his glare but his resolve folded once Friede lightly place a hand on his head, mindful of his injured ear. The weight brought more comfort than he realized, even more so when Friede scratched him at the particular spot that he liked.
“I’m glad that you’re alright,” he spoke, voice soft. “I don’t know what I’d do if you…”
“How do you think I feel? We’re partners but you’re hurt,” Cap replied back, pressing his head more into his palm.
Another faint chuckle in response to the train of soft Pika… from Cap. “Yeah, I messed up big time. I know that Mollie’s gonna have my hide for this. Think she’ll give you a pass at least.”
Cap nodded his agreement at that. Friede deserved it really. Did he forget that Cap had done a lot of falling before they met? Granted the only damage he got was recoil from Volt Tackle but the point still stood! Friede didn’t have to jump after him like that! It was stupid and reckless and…
It did stir warmth in his little heart. To know that his human cared as deeply as he does for him.
“Aww, not even pretending to disagree. I’m wounded,” Friede joked, doing that chuckle turned wince again. Cap hoped that they’d get rescued soon so he can get that treated. In the meantime, he settled keeping watch of the surroundings, ready to fire off warning shots to any wild Pokemon that dared to approach them.
Eventually, Cap picked up the sound of Charizard’s flapping wings and calls for Friede’s name. While it pained him to do so, he managed to shoot up a single Thunderbolt as a signal to their position.
Soon, Cap stepped aside to let Mollie and Orla fuss over his human. They had arrived on Charizard and Metagross, who both asked him whether he was alright. Cap simply gave a thumbs up in response.
It was much later that the pair were all patched up back on the ship. Friede had bandages all over him while Cap had some on his tail and ear. As expected, Mollie gave his human an earful for his reckless behavior while Cap received gentle care and worry. He wasn’t surprised seeing that he rarely got hurt badly enough to get all bandaged up like this.
They were now back in Friede’s room. Both of them were ordered to take it easy for a few days so their injuries had time to heal. Cap knew that it was only a matter of time before both of them get a little stir crazy from the forced inactivity but until then, he was happy to be all curled up by Friede’s side as he slumbered, exhausted from today’s events.

Pokemon dreams
Has anyone dreamt of Pokemon games, anime, and trading card games?
I have so many times.
The first dream I had was when I saw so many ash Ketchum who were little with Delia Ketchum from different age groups and then I saw Zoey from Diamond and Pearl anime, as well as the Sinnoh champion Cynthia as well as Dawn. There were other fictional characters but I couldn't remember the others.
The next dream was me with my Blaziken against a shiny Rayquaza but it stopped.
The other dream I have was when I saw May, Ash, Brock, and Max crossing the log before May gave me a trading card which was Grumpig I couldn't remember the other two but I think it was Spoink and I don't know the last one but it could be sawblu, but May give me the cards.
Besides that dream, I dreamt of modding my 3ds waiting for someone to do it until I looked at other people's 3ds and wanted to play Pokemon.
I even had a dream of Pokemon where I saw a Pokemon on the Pokemon bank which I collected but that's all I saw.
The dream I had was seeing May, dawn and Ash, the diamond and pearl ash but May had a Pichu I asked May about Pichu and she had it and then one of them gave me a key, a silver key, and followed me but they disappeared.
The last dream I had was when I was at the iciest place and saw a Pikachu with Ranger Jackie walker from Pokemon Ranger and the temple of sea I asked him about Pikachu and I followed the advanced Ash, May, Brock, and Max into the plane and flown off before going to a mall. From there got separated and saw xy Ash and dragged him when he took out a shoe from a store as I dragged him before going around the supermarket stalls where he took out earrings and wore them, I even made Ash black and white before turning it to color.
I even dreamt of kalos which was pokemon x y and saw Blaziken with the megaevolution symbol.
I dreamt of being a pokemon ranger when I saw my school teacher was a pokemon ranger and the ranger base of pokemon was in the ocean, while I was capturing pokemon.

BTW, the other day I remembered my Magical Pokemon Journey comics I had when I was younger, so I thought I'd share! If you don't already know about theme; this was originally a manga by Yumi Tsukirino, and was printed in the early days when manga got translated and flipped for American readers. The art was VERY cute, and intentionally similar to the magical girl style of anime/manga. The story focused on Hazel, a young girl who is given the task of being a Pokemon Trainer to help her grandpa's research (so she's kind of like the original Rival character), but she's more interested in getting the attention of a boy she knows, Almond (he's more serious about being a Trainer, but has bad luck when it comes to catching Pokemon). She winds up befriending several Pokemon, somtimes by comforting them when they're upset and sometimes through determination to not be ignored, including a rowdy little Pikachu (this was before Pichu was a thing, but this Pikachu is VERY chibi, and accidentally looks like the eventual baby form~)
Omg I've heard about this manga!! I've always wanted to read it but unfortunately only the first volume out of 10 is scanned (I'm pretty sure) and the physical volumes- if you can actually find them for sale- go for hundreds of dollars. As a fandom archivist it hurts my heart knowing that there's currently no viable way to read this series in English :(

So, on October 19th 2021, exactly two years ago as of posting this, GinjaNinjaOWO over on the YT did a very fun video discussing swapping the concepts of Pokémon's two mascots, Pikachu and Eevee. That was also when I was really getting into the swing of character/creature designing, so I wanted to try my hand at it myself. I did the original pass in about a month, but recently looked over them and went "I can do this better," so here we are.
Here's the first pass from 2 years ago (before I got my tablet). I kept the first few designs I worked on, adding new concepts and motifs while scrapping the final 3 designs I did. When I did them originally, I think I was feeling a bit of burnout by the end, and was just going with the first things that came to mind, rather than coming up with something really creative.
Pichu was the first one I went back over. Originally, I just tweaked June's Pichu concept designs as I was more interested in designing its evolutions. The one thing I did keep from that first draft was the cheek placement under the eyes. All baby Pokémon reference something babies do, and having these faux-tear marks that then further evolve into other things as it itself evolves was something I liked and wanted to keep. As for the patterns, I wanted to go with something very generic, or template since it was going to evolve into 8 different rodents. I also drew it in multiple poses (something I did with every design), as movement is very important to modern Pokémon.
Zazachu was the third design I worked on (we'll get the the second later). With aspects like the surfboard tail and life vest fluff, it very much informed aspects I would add to all the other evolutions. I also tried to keep the colors in mind. I imagined this being one of the three Gen 1 evolutions, and Gen 1's color palette was very influenced by being sprites first, so I tried to choose colors that would be distinct when grayscale.
The second new Gen 1 design is Hirachu, a Flying-Type. One of the things I was trying to keep in mind was to not limit myself to the Types Eevee uses, and instead use ones that fit either Pikachu or the gimmicks I wanted to use. Since Pikachu was well known for learning Surf and Fly in Gen 1, I thought I'd incorporate that not only into its Types, but into its evolution method, having Pichu evolve into Pikachu, Zazachu, or Hirachu based on whether you teach it Flash, Surf, or Fly (all of which are HMs and have infinite uses). In Gen 1, I imagine it would evolve immediately after learning the move, but this would change in Gen 2 for reasons we'll discuss soon.
As for design elements, its spots and fluff are meant to invoke an aviator scarf and goggles, and I think I did a good job of illustrating how it uses its tail. I imagine the balloons are created by it secreting a sticky substance from the spots on its back to mimic how Pikachu would summon balloons when it used Fly in games like Pokémon Stadium.
We now move onto the Gen 2 designs with Orachu (which is a Jojo reference). Most Pikachu-like, and all Eevee designs are used to demonstrate a gimmick introduced in its introductory game. Pichu is breeding, Plusle and Minun are double battles, Pachirisu is the physical-special split, Dedenne and Sylveon are Fairy-Type, Pawmi is movement-based evolutions, Espeon and Umbreon are the day-night cycle, and Glaceon and Leafeon are location evolutions.
I wanted to keep with the breeding theme Pichu used in Gen 2, as well as the evolution method I started using in Gen 1, so Orachu evolves by leveling up while knowing Counter, which Pichu could only learn through breeding in Gold and Silver.
But then, if Pichu evolves by leveling up while knowing one of four different moves, what would happen if it knew two or more? That's where our second Gen 2 design, Nanichu, comes in. This was a design I had a lot of fun with. It's a Ghost-Type, and I thought it'd be cool to make its eyes and cheeks match and glow in the dark (similar to Umbreon) so that it looks scary if you came across it in a dark alley (or your pantry). As I evolved the design in the second pass, I added the scruff and changed up the tail to add even more to that theme.
As we move onto Gen 4, I wanted the two designs to be based on the physical-special split. Originally I had a physical Psychic-Type and a special Steel-Type, but I wasn't happy with either of them, so I scrapped them both and started fresh. The first new Gen 4 design I made was this special Dragon-Type, Ukichu. I liked the idea of a rabbit coming out of a hat, but to tie it more into the magical elements of Dragon-Types I incorporated a lot of elements from the Jackalope and Wolpertinger. I moved the cheek spots to below the collar to mimic a bow tie, but also made the horns on its head red to keep that visual element present in the face. This one feels a little busier than all the others thanks to the fluff, but it still feels like it fits.
And as Ukichu is special, its partner in Gen 4 had to be physical, hence the Ice-Type Sharichu. I feel like there isn't a ton to say about this one. I made it very snowman-y, and had it so it could freeze over the brown parts of its fur for attacking or defending. I think I did a good job of illustrating how it works.
And as both Dedenne and Sylveon were Fairy-Type, it stands to reason my Gen 6 counterpart should be as well. My first take on Fuwachu was very just-Sylveon, so I really wanted to break away from that on this take. As Fairy-Types are heavily associated with both being tricksters and gemstones, I tried incorporating both those elements into this design, with the necklace motif, crystalline tail claw, and its tail resembling itself from the back to trick others.
And the last design we'll talk about is Pikachu. Of course. This is actually my third pass on Pikachu, as I wasn't happy with my second. It stuck too much to the original and didn't incorporate some of the elements I used in the other designs. I still didn't change a lot, adding the tail cloud on the second pass so it would have the brown element and functionality all the other evolutions I made have. And on the third pass I gave it an adventuring bandana, which felt on-brand for Pikachu in any universe.
Overall, this was a fun experiment, and I can imagine how easily you could expand upon it. If Pikachu and Eevee are swapped, then is that true of the show? Since Meowth is a cat chasing a mouse, would it be swapped out to match Eevee? What Eevee evolutions would replace the Pikachu clones? How would all these things domino to affect the series? etc. I drew 43 Pokémon for this in total (not all pictured here), so it was a lot of work, and I hope you enjoyed this little design doc, or at least the pretty pictures if you didn't bother reading. Episode 1: Seeing Ash after watching Horizons. My heart wasn’t ready for this y’all. Even the narrator is gonna make me cry hhhh 🥺. Looking back, I do love seeing Pikachu’s past but at the same time, was it really that… necessary? It didn’t add that much but maybe that’s just me. It’s still cute seeing him as a Pichu regardless. Now the journey starts today is an absolute banger. This song doesn’t get enough credit and I’m tired of not seeing any love for it. Kangaskhan feeding Pichu the Oran berry. Cuteness overload. The whole Delia scene of her patting Pikachu hits different when you realize that’s what Kangaskhan did to help Pichu sleep. I think a lot of people forget that Ash and Serena didn’t attend the same camp. Goh and Chloe went first and the next time, Ash went and encountered Serena. It’s weird that younger Goh has the same voice as older Goh. Doesn’t match his age and it’s throwing me off. At least Chloe sounds a bit younger. I hope this rewatch will help me understand Goh but at the moment, I’m still not that big on him, sorry. I love Chloe’s sass. Wish we got to see her sass alongside Serena’s. Also I’m sorry but I’m just gonna stay it. Goh and Chloe = Childhood friends. Ash and Serena =/= childhood friends. We only knew one confirmed encounter Ash and Serena had which we see multiple instances of Goh and Chloe interacting when they were younger. So realistically, a childhood encounter best fits Ash and Serena. Plus I feel Ash probably would’ve remembered a childhood friend right away but Serena was more of a stranger(not trying to start a war, it’s just a personal irk of mine when people say Ash and Serena had a past like Goh and Chloe when that’s pretty clearly not the case ^^;). Kinda wish that since Journeys was Ash and Pikachu’s last series, that they would give us a Pikachu and Kangaskhan reunion. One of the ones most needed alongside Ambipom. Like imagine during the last episode of MPM, they encounter the Kangaskhan and their journey in a way ended where it began. That would be an emotional fanfic(someone make it happen! 😭). I love seeing the same scene from I choose you. I think this episode really gave a lot of hints that it was the last for Ash and Pikachu. Pikachu backstory, callback to the beginning and even showing a scene similar to their very last.
Episode 2: Pikachu trying to wake Ash by slapping and electrocuting him is a mood. Something I think pet owners can relate to. One of my dogs barks at me while the other will rub his scent all over you and the bed, attack you with kisses and sometimes scratch the hell out of your head. Delia getting excited over seeing the shops. Imagine a shopping spree between her and the Pokegirls(especially the ones who love to shop). YAMPER. Boy I sure do hope it doesn’t get pushed aside and forgotten about for episodes at a time. Chloe just walking past Ash dead on the stairs. That’s a mood too. Oh and yes, we stan Chloe here. Yes she had wasted potential but I still enjoyed her. And yes again that includes Eevee and the eeveelution focused episodes. Who would win a sass off, Misty, Iris, Serena or Chloe? How can they predict a super rare Pokemon showing up?? Like what? XD. Psyduck showing up and just staring at Goh makes me smile every time. I’ve really grown to love Psyduck. Think it’s time I got a plushie of him. If I remember correctly, doesn’t Lugia end up being revealed as Mew? Do you think Lugia is a Satogou shipper? Random question but Pokémon do seem to ship people. Rainbow scene with Ash and Goh!! I may not be that big on Goh but I can’t deny how great of a ship Ash x Goh is. They got some crazy hints. I think Goh blushes at Ash just as much as Serena did. Aw Horsea! I don’t bring up Horsea enough. I’m actually a fan of the Pokemon. Have been since watching Misty’s Horsea as a kid. Ash being annoyed with his mom XD. If Goh did pick a Kanto starter, who do you think he would choose? I could see him being a Squirtle person tbh

General:
All are veteran competitors, having fought since day one.
Some are famous. Others more infamous. Then some of them are not well known but very skilled.
All are friendly towards one another and consider themselves something of a team when it's not about beating each other up. Though not all of them are besties. Some of em do fight.
Tend to hang around the Koopalings, Pokemon, Mario Characters and Sonic.
Most are Asian (or like. splatoon era equivalent), or at least partially so. I'll be referring to them all by our current day regions for convenience but yknow it's more like. Splatoon version. I assume most Inklings are situated around asia but that they are pretty worldwide or at least span far enough to have different ethnicities.

Tomboyish, not fond of anything too "girly" though she has a soft spot for some cute mascot characters and some pretty stationary.
Closest with Blue, also very friendly with Yara and Nasubi.

Small lil crush on Sephiroth. Though an innocent passing phase, the few smashers who do know fear the prospect of Sephiroth finding out lest he use it to manipulate her (think ace and buttercup in that one ep of ppg)

Doesn't have a good home life. It is acceptable and possible for inklings her age to spend a lot of time away from home and even move out for school or work, but she is working up the courage to do so. Until then she spends a lot of time at the mansion

Speaking of. Doesn't get along with Mica well. They clash a lot.
Gets into the most trouble of the bunch, often accidentally. Just has that sort of luck.
Street smart but scatterbrained and a big risk-taker. Tends to prefer what looks cool to what is practical. A little rough around the edges
Jokester, at times people get irritated that he doesn't seem to take anything seriously. Probably a self proclaimed "meme lord" at some point in his life.

Also a fan of omega 3 probably. Pro-salmonid which is another reason he doesn't like Mica, as they work for Grizzco.

I think i wanna retract my headcanon that Laventon failed his pokemon breeding course because hes a prude and it embarrassed him. No, I think it infuriated him over how fucking confusing it could get and how fucked up some teachings were. While incense breeding is yet to be a thing, Ditto breeding IS a thing. A REALLY BIG thing. Just a quick way to get new livestock to sell, breed some more, and use as food. Basically a mill, if you really think about it. Laventon spent an entire two fucking months learning only about Ditto breeding and he quickly learned the horrific damage mass breeding a Ditto-decendant can actually cause to its bloodline.
You ask him about this, and he'll go on a whole thing about how the Kantonian settlers fucked up the Pichu line when they introduced them to Hoenn. All it took was breeding another imported Ditto with a Ditto-decendant Raichu resulting in a whole litter of fucked up Pichu. Their ability to conduct and control electricity was way worse than the standard Pichu and upon evolving, it didn't improve. As Pikachu, theyre smaller than their Kantonian ancestors. A closer look, it seems their electricity sacs and tails are not able to withstand as much electricity as other Pikachu can. Some have even shown signs of too brittle tail bones, meaning they may never be able to learn iron tail. As Raichu, its basically the same— for those who were able to even evolve that is. But regardless, they're continuously bred with other Ditto-bred Raichu or Pikachu or other Ditto because Pikachu and Raichu meat are not only a Kantonian delicacy, but their pelt are perfect heat insulators which would bring a lot of monetary means to the young ports of Hoenn. And this is all within 100 years. And its pisses Laventon off after hearing how many other similar incidents have happened and still continue to happen! Such as the current trend in Kalos of Ditto breeding Furfrou for a newer breed of "designer" Furfrou, only resulting in various health concerns for the pups that are not dealt with due to the lack of pokemon medical practitioners.
Or in Galar where Mudsdale are being mass bred with Ditto in order to keep up with the lack of food in many locations(Mudbray meat being too tough). And it often resulted in sick meat, Laventon having been a victim of such ordeals. He just had a sour stomach and a fever for a couple weeks, but regardless it brought his attention to what was going on really. And he QUICKLY stopped buying from shops that mass bred and forcefully trained for Mudsdale.
He doesn't like Pokémon breeding due to how fucked up it is in his time. There are no regulations yet. The discovery of Ditto brought a lot of confusion and scientific wonder but was quickly overshadowed by the fact of how easy it was to get offspring from a certain pokemon from just this single blob.

AITA for trying to train my Pichu?
So i'm a relatively new trainer that obtained a egg from my parent's breeding Pikachus and when it hatched I took it to do some medical stuff and raised him before giving him the option to participate in battles which he decided he wanted to try it out.
So he tried it out (in a very certified safe environment) and decided he wanted to actively be on my battle team. So i decided to bring him to a local training center to train him in a safe environment with easy access to bio breaks etc.
When I went to the counter to register the lady told me no, i can't register a Pichu. So I thought ok, maybe this center just doesn't register certain species but i didn't know of any other training centers nearby so i asked her if there was another training center and she gave me a disgusted look and says i shouldn't be trying to train a baby pokemon at all and I was a disgusting infant abuser.
This made me feel bad and I left which disappointed my Pichu which made me feel worse and im re-thinking my choices.
AITA?
Smh people like that lady piss me off. You know what an infant abuser doesn’t do? Go to a safe training facility instead of making their pichu beat the shit out of some bidoofs in the woods for 6 hours.
Even disregarding the fact that you were training him in the safest way possible for an infant, how’s she to tell your pichu IS an infant at all?? Not all pokémon want to evolve, I had a friend in high school who’s family had the most elderly crotchety little igglybuff. It was older than her! It just never wanted to evolve and that’s fine. I’ve also met ACTUAL infant pokémon that LOVE battling. It doesn’t matter and as long as you don’t make your pichu push it’s limits, battling is actually very healthy for it as it grows and develops! NTA btw

ok so due to recent events (my friend asking for these posts <3) i am gonna be making some mha regression headcanon posts! and we are gonna start out with...
Denki Kaminari!!!
⚡︎ Denki is an age regressor but he does sometimes babysit the other littles if he's up for it!
⚡︎ He regresses from ages 6-8 usually but occasionally it can be 5-9
⚡︎ He isn't ashamed of his regression at all so he talks about it openly. He also slips very easily so he often regresses openly, especially around friends
⚡︎ He is a very energetic boy! This is a mix of ADHD + his personality (and also i like to imagine having electricity course through you can make you pretty energetic), but he loves to run around with people and play things like tag, catch, duck duck goose, and anything that involves moving
⚡︎ Speaking of other people, he loves playdates with the other littles and has them quite often. He loves hanging out with everybody but one of his best little buddies is Uraraka (i will not stand for uraraka slander on this page XP)
⚡︎ Something else i hold near and dear to my heart is the relationship between little Todoroki and little Denki. Without spoiling too much of the Todoroki post im gonna make, Todo regresses very young, like 0-4, and due to this Kami is very curious and is constantly talking about Todo the same way a child talks about a baby
-> an example: *little Kami sees little Todoroki* "gasp! Look is a baby!!!! Hi baby!!!! Can I hug him? Hi baby!! Can I play with him please??"
⚡︎ Kami also likes playing a game where he trys to guess what Todoroki wants (todo goes non-verbal when regressed) and Todoroki likes to see Denki run around grab random things so its a win-win!
⚡︎ Denki being regressed openly so often actually causes a lot of the other littles to regress with him, causing a lot of "daycare situations" (i believe that age[d]re and pet[d]re is actually very common within the hero world due to lots of childhood trauma and/or trauma/stress from hero work so most heros are regressors and/or caregivers)
⚡︎ I imagine Denki rarely vent regresses and when he sees somebody else vent regressing or just being a sad little in general he immediately attempts to cheer them up and make them laugh
⚡︎ This is from somebody elses headcanon list (i dont rmb who im sorry!!) but Bakugou calling Denki pichu instead of pikachu when he's small plagues my mind /pos
⚡︎ Kaminari likes to go out during lightning storms (something he did as a child) and it's perfect because Shinsou (his caregiver) actually really enjoys rain and storms, although he does have to stop Denki from trying to use his quirk in these storms for obvious reasons. Also, Kaminari definitely wears the stereotypical yellow raincoat and matching rainboots.
⚡︎ Ok i hate to say it, but Denki is a leash kid. There's no other way to make sure he doesnt get distracted and run away because he's so curious and easily excitable. BUT he doesnt have the normal child harness thing, he has this one:
⚡︎ Shinsou, while obviously having no issues with the bakusquad hanging out with little Kaminari, is always hesitant to let them all babysit together because usually when he comes back Kami is wearing a change of clothes (that are too big for him), has a few new band-aids, is playing video games way past his bedtime, and is going through an extreme sugar rush
⚡︎ While they may not be the best babysitters together, the bakusquad is good at babysitting Denki one-on-one.
⚡︎ Mina likes to take Denki to different clothing shops and resturants (even if it does completely drain her wallet). She also likes to have fashion shows and makeovers with Denki while listening to all his very super extremely important problems (like how he was only allowed to have one donut instead of two, or how he spilled juice all over his favorite shirt, etc etc)
⚡︎ Bakugou, actually being very responsible, is usually the 'tough love' kinda guy. He makes Kaminari meals and makes sure he eats all of it (including the vegetables), but lets him watch movies while he eats and gives him desert afterwards. He makes Denki take showers/baths, but gives him bath toys and shower crayons and cute towels. He forces Denki into bed at bedtime, but leaves the night light on and sits with him (possibly reading stories) until Denki falls asleep.
⚡︎ Kirishima and Sero are both older brother types, but Kiri is the older brother who takes Kami out to the park and plays pretend with him and does the exaggerated responses and basically just babies Kami, where as Sero is the one who plays video games with Kami and shows him cool comic books and sometimes sneaks him sweets and is over all more lenient and chill

These are all the Pokemon Dia has that were first discovered in the Kanto region.
Her outfit is based on another early outfit design she had (it's not her current one).
Click the read more to learn about each of these mons! I'll also work on linking the pics together and stuff later I need to sleep lol forgive any typos you might see
Bia (Bianca)—Charmander—♀—Sassy Nature
The child of Dia’s Pokemon: Burn (Charizard) and Flia (Flygon) [Plus Eni (Ditto)]. Hardheaded and resilient, and not as young as she looks! Bia’s not currently interested in evolving but wants to eventually. For now, she enjoys taking care of eggs and Pokemon at a Violet City Daycare center along with a few of Dia’s other Pokemon. She helps them with sparring and training. Her dream is to one day be able to Mega Evolve like her dad.
Special Notes: Pink flame, eyes, and ribbon. May have something to do with the Pinkan berries Eni (Ditto) had been eating when the egg came to be…
Burn—Charizard—♂—Hardy Nature
Received in a trade as a Charmeleon. When she welcomed Burn to the team, she was worried he would be fairly disobedient since he was from another trainer. However, this wasn’t the case at all! Burn quickly become fiercely loyal partner. He’s a quiet guy and tends to keep to himself, but you can tell he cares a lot for his teammates. Once he evolved into Charizard, Dia’s Flygon (Flia) became smitten. Burn was happy to reciprocate the feelings and they’ve been together ever since! They have two kids: Bia (Charmander) and Flurn (Flygon).
Special Notes: Max size! Can Mega Evolve to Y ONLY (he accidentally swallowed the Mega Stone…).
Lightning—Raichu—♂—Adamant Nature
Dia’s first Pokemon along with his sister Thunder (Pikachu). On Dia’s 10th birthday, she received two Pichu eggs from her sister. Later that day, both eggs hatched! Lightning is the more daring of the twins. Scrappy, stubborn, and energetic; he does well holding his own in battle. He excels in reading Dia’s cues without really needing direct commands. He and Dia are in perfect sync during battles. Lightning was never really interested in love but, during, their Alola travels, Dia adopted an Alolan Raichu (Vanilla) that eventually became his mate. The two Raichu were not interested in each other at all at first, but after becoming close friends the two realized they had deeper feelings than they thought. The pair have one child, Blitz (Pichu).
Special Notes: Minimum size! The yellow premier ball Dia wears is his
Volce—Vulpix—♀—Quiet Nature
Voice was caught by Dia on route 36 in Johto. She had been corrupted in early Shadow Pokemon projects and released into the wild. Never fully a shadow Pokemon, Dia was able to unlock her heart and return her to normal. Over the course of their Johto journey, Volce slowly lost her eyesight. Nurses determined it was likely a genetic defect due to inbreeding. Volce was never particularly interested in battling, but found a home and family with the team that she never thought she’d have. She’s happy to be around others, even if she’s not one to engage in conversation. Her favorite activity is taking long strolls with her mate Ko (Alolan Vulpix).
Special Notes: Blind
Mikan—Dewgong—♀—Careful Nature
Mikan was a Shadow Pokemon caught by Dia in the Orre Region. She’s very cautious and skittish. Dia wanted to return Mikan to her original owner, but Mikan was not interested in going back. She’s never told Dia why, but Dia has a feeling Mikan had a difficult past. Mikan is quick to flee from strangers and loud noises among other things. Her new home with Dia is slowly becoming a safe space where she be herself.
Special Notes: Orange eyes
Eni (Enigma)—Shiny Ditto—‘♀’—Timid Nature
Eni was a gift from Dia’s ex-boyfriend. Eni doesn’t remember anything before Dia let her out of her Pokeball, so Dia can only guess that she recently…hatched? Although Ditto are generally genderless, Eni identifies as female and chooses to use she/her pronouns. She’s very shy and has made few close friends among Dia’s Pokemon. The few include Burn (Charizard) and Flia (Flygon), who she helped get a Charmander egg, and her mate, Miji (Samurott). Eni and Miji randomly found an egg one day, but, they weren’t ready to be parents (nor were they interested in being parents) so they passed the egg onto Dia.
Special Notes: Shiny! When she transforms, she becomes the shiny version of that Pokemon (just like in the first few generations). She also has a small red bow.
Navy (Navigator)—Vaporeon—♂—Serious Nature
Found by Dia at the Castellia City docks as an Eevee. He had been raised by a ship captain who had recently passed away. He excels at reading the sea, sky, and maps. Navy had always wanted to be a Vaporeon and agreed to come with Dia if she could make that happen. He takes pride in his abilities and can be a bit of a snob about it. He’s able to read Unovan and common and enjoys reading books. Not much of a battler, he’s always wanted to set back out to see. However, he instead decided to settle down with a mate who understands his need for the pursuit of knowledge and perfection, Syntha (Leafeon). They have three children together: Nunally (Sylveon), and twins Damian (Jolteon) / Dominic (Espeon).
Special Notes: Can read Unovan and common as well as compasses, maps, etc.
Damian—Jolteon—♂—Quiet Nature
The child of Dia’s Pokemon: Navy (Vaporeon) and Syntha (Leafeon). An anxious Pokemon who just wants to fit in. His brother Dom (Espeon) likes to drag him out on adventures. For the most part, he just goes along with the whims of his brother. When he can get away, Damian spends time with his mom learning about botany and how to use plants for medicine. He one day hopes to work in a Pokemon Center. For now, he’s working on his confidence, standing up for himself, and keeping his brother out of trouble.
Escalus—Flareon—♂—Lonely Nature
Dia adopted him as an Eevee from someone who could no longer care for him. Escalus has always been a very quiet Pokemon who isolated himself from others. It took him a long time to warm up to anyone, including Dia. He’s deeply afraid of abandonment and clings tightly to those he cares about. When Dia offered to help him evolve, he really wasn’t sure what he wanted to be. Then, when he and Dia encountered a thief making off with stolen loot, Dia only had him to rely on. When attacking the thief, the bag of stolen goods came apart and a fire stone helped Escalus evolve. Thanks to the power boost, they were able to get back all the stolen goods and he has felt more confident ever since. He’s trying to be his best self thanks to support from his mate, Dell (Umbreon).
Special Notes: His vision isn’t great and his eyes are very sensitive so he wears prescription goggles.
Ev (Evermore)—Shiny Mew—Lonely Nature
Dia found them on Faraway Island. Although they haven’t officially been caught, Ev has been shadowing Dia since their chance encounter. 100s of years ago, Ev had made friends with a young girl who lived on the island. One day, the girl stopped coming back. For a long time, Ev thought the girl had abandoned them and developed a resentment for humans. With Dia’s help, they discovered that this wasn’t the case at all. Something happened which caused all of the people living on the island to disappear. Now, the two are working together to find the truth.
Special Notes: Shiny! Fur pattern is based on the original Mew arts.

Thinking about an AU (that also kind of reflects our world with Gamefreak’s decision) where Gorochu actually did make it into the game and somehow Raichu ended up becoming the mascot pokémon and Ash’s buddy and then Pikachu are just treated similarly to how Pichu is (with Pichu obviously not existing because evolution can only really be 3 stages).
Like imagine scenarios like…
Raichu vs Lt. Surge’s Gorochu (or any other rival asshole Gorochu that replaces the Raichu from the anime)
ALSO GOH GETS A GOROCHU AND ID LOVE HIM TO USE HER MORE OFTEN

Episodes where Ash meets an alternate reality of himself and his Raichu slightly off topic but seeing those clips of those episodes where how alternate Ash has a different personality and stuff, what if he had a Raichu instead? Way to ruin that idea, Nintendo

◦ This is my thing to throw in as well but I feel like Sandshrew and Sandslash were originally meant to be version counterparts for Pikachu and Raichu since the Pokédex has them labelled as mouse pokémon as well. However there’s no information/confirmation anywhere that Sandslash was meant to have an evolved form too like Gorochu or the mouse pokémon as a whole being version exclusives during the development for RB(G) but if we’re going to have an alternate version of Let’s Go, it could’ve been Sandslash (as much as I love Eevee). The other potential counterpart could be Marill who was originally going by “Pikablu” during Gold/Silver’s development because many thought it was gonna be a water-type version of Pikachu and since it’s also a mouse. If that was the case, I would imagine Marill would’ve ended up having similar stats as Raichu (probably with a slightly more enhanced design), maybe Azurill would be released early in that generation too and Azumarill would be similar to Gorochu which btw Jesus Christ if Azumarill was like the one we have now with being part Fairy and Huge power and all would be terrifying.
Not important but also with this AU, I like to imagine fat Pikachu would still be a thing because he isn’t the mascot and animators wouldn’t be animating them as much (that’s the official reason as to why Pikachu slimmed down btw). I personally miss that version of Pikachu more because that’s what I grew up with back when he was my favourite Pokémon and he’s just super cute being chubby with the pointy ears and all!
Man thinking about this is low-key getting me hyped but if that actually did happen, I think I wouldn’t love Raichu like I do now. I feel like I’d view him as overrated and annoying maybe like how I do with Pikachu now (I’d probably still like him more than I do with Pikachu now because Raichu just looks cooler while still looking adorable and huggable af). With that being said, I would view Gorochu as how I view Raichu; under appreciated because of the anime’s depictions and the influence on fans because of it. If only the company was more inclusive with it. Why’s it always Pichu who gets to be with Pikachu? Yeah he’s a baby Pokémon but I’m very certain it’s existence is only really for the anime.
Speaking of mascot Pokémon… Eevee really SHOULD’VE been the mascot if anything.
It wouldn’t outclass its evolutions in fame because they’re notable and there’s multiple of them. Hell there may be eeveelutions for every type these days and it could have its own version of the light ball that could make it equally powerful as it’s evolved forms! It just makes more sense to me. I think it would’ve been more appealing than Clefairy who was initially going to be Ash’s starter.
