1. Why did you choose your url?

“lokisasylum”... I think i’ve explained this a lot, but “Loki” is a nickname I was given since my school days because I was a hardcore trickster & would get away with anything and everything. I also recall being VERY persuasive when caught until I got off the hook. While “Asylum” comes from an album by Disturbed (one of the bests I own).

2. Any sideblogs? If you have them name them and why you have them?

Yep, @arsenicbutterfly which is like an aesthethic/anime/cyberpunk/steampunk/grunge blog, and I also have @lokirasengan-fc which I originally created with the intention of moving all my fanart/artwork (also promote my Society6 & Redbubble shops) to in order to separate my main blog for BTS news/post and that one for artwork but none of my mutuals really followed me on it so its basically a dead blog >_>

3. How long have you’ve been on tumblr?

I think since 2010 which is the same year the (Disturbed) “Asylum” album came out.

4. Do you have a queue tag?

I don’t know, never really thought about it.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

Hmm... I remember 2009-2010 to be a very chaotic years.

- the Death Note fandom went up in flames due to the MILLIONS of cases of cyber bullying (some ending in s**cide). I remember being part of this RP group within the fandom that I ended up quitting when I got admitted into Graduate School and because 2 of the oldest members ended up being actual PSYCHOS. (Which is why I also quitted roleplaying)

- Deviantart was rumored to either be shutting down or heading into a worse fate since they started censoring Mature Art/Literature/Fanfics (I remember all the artists who had their 20something chaptered fics and comics OBLITERATED off the site without a reason). So many people left DA for other blogs and I remember thinking the same, that I needed to migrate elsewhere. I tried 2 new social medias that eventually disappeared with less than a year of existence and then there was tumblr with had apparently been created for that very purpose (as a refuge for artists & people in general who were disappointed or got screwed over by the system). Which is funny because tumblr ended up the same way...

I still kept both my DA accounts active and I still post ALL of my artwork/photography there.

6. Why did you choose your icon?

I usually changed my icon frequently, but this recent/current icon is special to me, because it was made as a tattoo design for my Jikook Vampire fic (Forever, You Said) of a butterfly trapped between a Full Moon/New Moon. Its a matching tattoo between jikook (Jimin’s is a yellow butterfly inside a new moon, while JK’s is a blue butterfly inside a full moon). Meant to symbolize how both existed in the same timeline separated by two worlds with Jimin being a vampire and Jungkook being human, but their lives got intertwined since their first meeting.

7. Why did you choose your header?

[I legit had to go back and check what my header was ‘cause i forgot]

Because I mean... Its Park Motherfucking Jimin.

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

Like... this month? I think its the post about BTS as Flower Spirits from the HYBE museum.

9. How many mutuals do you have?

Few but I love them (same)

10. How many followers do you have?

635... damn, when did that happened?? WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!

11. How many people do you follow?

Like 14ish? Most of them were fanartists I really admired, but sadly most of them aren’t active or left for Twitter cause people kept coming to tumblr to steal their art and post it on twitter/instagram. So they moved to twitter in order to have some “control” over their works, but now people steal their art from Twitter and come to post it on Tumblr 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

And this is why I still post most of my art on Deviantart.

12. Have you ever made a shitpost?

I... I dunno, have I? Oo

13. How often do you use tumblr each day?

24hrs/7 days a week, I never really log out of tumblr. So I just wake up, eat breakfast/lunch (whatever’s available at 11am), do chores around the house, make sure my fam’s healthy, fed and comfy before I jump back into tumblr where I kill off most of the day and night. If I’m not here I’m on deviantart or Ao3.

14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? Who won?

I usually avoid going to other blogs to argue per se because most of these blogs that shitpost for the sake of creating conflict are very young and very ignorant. They never see reason/logic even when you slap ‘em across the face with receipts. So I don’t bother.

HOWEVER, ain’t afraid to calling people out through my own posts from time to time without the need to name names. If it fits, it ships and if you offended that’s a YOU problem.

15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?

I avoid them as much as possible. I’m like Taehyung on that note, I’m the type of person that if you try to force me to do something and I see no benefit (for me) in it? I won’t do it.

16. Do you like tag games?

Yes, they’re fun and break the monotony.

17. Do you like ask games?

I do... but no one ever interacts with me for them 🙃

Eehh.. maybe @utopiajeon , @debrenner , @aikimei

19. Do I have a crush on a mutual?

I mean I love them and think they’re awesome people, but I also think of them as the children I don’t plan on having in the future. LOL

what type of kpop stan would the descendants characters be? a post by me 😇

evie: gg+female soloist stan, mostly stans mainstream girlies: black pink, red velvet, twice, loona, itzy, gidle, mmm, etc. she’s really into stan twitter, loves posting fan cams and getting into fights w bg stans for fun.

mal: she’s just a casual blink, likes monsta x casually as well. she buys cds bc she’s #vintage #grunge like that so she just buys their albums while at the store and tells evie it doesn’t have to be that serious.

jay: actually likes nct127’s music. taeyong is his bias. horrible. also likes black pink and monsta x fine enough. was really into wanna one and then watched all of pdx and was absolutely crushed w what happened to x1.... sungwoon and yohan biased respectively. is really into the loona lore tho, watched all the mvs with evie and carlos. chuu biased of course.

carlos and doug: annoying people who are like “um don’t you know they’re under like slave contracts....” but they think loona is superior and have biases for evie’s sake (hyunjin and gowon respectively) also tho carlos likes akmu and doug likes epik high and ft island.

ben: wait why would he also like ncts music.... anyway he’d be an sm stan i just know it. him and evie would go to a red velvet concert together, probably. he’d use sm’s social media apps as well, like dear u bubble or whatever it is.

uma: major blink!! she supports other gg’s casually, but blackpink is her life. lisa biased.

harry: lives for stan twitter drama, has a gg icon. mostly just an armyblink for the drama of it all (jennie and namjoon biased tho). will drag 2nd gen groups for nothing. loves provoking sm stans (ben is under his posts trying to get people to stop giving him attn). posts “worst songs of the year” compilations and “ggs can’t rap” bait while having a blackpink icon.

gil: just like bgs because he’s gay. exol, army, nctzen, monbebe, wannable, ahgase... he claims fandoms very easily, his twitter bio would just be full of fanclub names. also his tl would be mostly retweets of gifs/pics accs. sehun, jungkook, jaehyun, daniel are some of his biases.

audrey: armyonce, but the type that puts bts above twice. you know what i’m talking abt.

jane: army, suga biased... i just know it.

lonnie: jyp stan, lives for twice (tzuyu biased), itzy (ryujin biased), stray kids (hyunjin biased), got7 (idk the members), and day6. casual general kpop fan as well, follows most of the mainstream groups releases.

chad: once, nayeon biased. doesn’t really follow or know abt any other groups, just focuses on twice.

dizzy: big big army... like an embarrassing level, bought all the dolls n pops n everything... jimin biased oooobviously.

celia: HAG STAN the type of hag stan who is like too young to really of have really been around during the 2nd gen but now lives for bom, apink, dalsooobin, etc. listens exclusively to ggs who debuted pre-2012. complains abt noisepop. bts anti so she and dizzy have a very romeo and juliet thing going on.

Reach Nirvana through BTS

Firstly what’s a Nirvana?

Here I’m talking about the music group called Nirvana. The name comes from Nirvana, a term in Buddhism referring to a state of perfect quietude. It’s radically opposed to the music of the rock/grunge/alternative rock band who has been very popular during the 90s, even becoming the representative of their generation. The group stopped their activities after the death of their singer Kurt Cobain, in 1994.

Several elements related to the group have been used in BTS’ latest works, starting from 화양연화 pt.2. There are references to Nirvana’s lyrics and albums, several appearances of sunglasses Cobain used to wear and some pictures.

The person responsible for all those refs is probably Kim Sunghyun, the art director of BTS. Just check his twitter and you’ll see a lot of posts about the group. He also has an “in bloom” tattoo on the right wrist, as well as the baby of Nevermind on the forearm. More than that, Kim Sunghyun is also the one behind Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa.

References to the lyrics, albums, and MVs

For 화양연화 pt.2 they just used lyrics and albums’ names everywhere: in the concept photo on the boys’ white shirts, in several rooms of the “RUN” Japanese version MV, even the name of “Intro: Never Mind” could be a reference.

However, they didn’t use a lot of references, just a few, repeated several times. Here’s the list:

“Nevermind”

Nevermind is one of Nirvana’s albums.

“in bloom,” “come as you are,” “teen spirit”

The three first songs of Nevermind are “Smells like teen spirit”, “In bloom”, and “Come as you are”. “teen spirit” also appeared in the first trailer, for 2 COOL 4 SKOOL. But there’s no proof it was related to Nirvana there.

Another form of reference can be found in “War of Hormone”. As pointed by Def Bro in his reaction for the MV, the last scene in the gym has similarities with the video for “Smells like teen spirit”.

Cobain’s sunglasses

Why do they have their own section? Because I find them cute~

Jimin was the first one to wear them in “RUN.”

SUGA also has a red pair but they’re hanged on his shirt.

And then in “Fire,” Jimin wore them again, accompanied by RM and V.

While Min Suga was once again being a rebel and not wearing his red pair...

Pictural references

As glasses aren’t enough to dress someone (they would’ve totally been enough), the boys also wore shirts related to Nirvana.

In the Prologue, in “RUN,” in STIGMA, and in the concept photos for You Never Walk Alone

In the first two cases, RM and V wore a shirt with the logo of the band on it while in the last two pictures, V and JK wore a shirt representing the album cover for In Utero.

In the Short Film for “First Love”, you can see a poster of Cobain on the shop front. It shows a picture of him smoking while he was recording at Hilversum Studios. There’s also his Rolling Stone’s cover in the display stand, on the bottom left. There’s also a vinyl of Nevermind (the blue square spot around the center of the picture).

Another occurrence of the In Utero cover was in the trailer for the WINGS Tour, at the end, when V is standing with his black wings opened.

Then in the second Highlight Reel, a poster of a letter from Cobain could be seen in SUGA’s room.

Now, Love Yourself 承 Her.

Two posters can be seen behind Jin in the V version book. The first one is a promotional poster for the album Insecticide, and the second is a poster for the tribute concert Negative Creeps.

There’s also a picture of Kurt Cobain during their concert at Maxwell’s on July the 13th, 1989 behind RM.

This picture, as well as a few more, also made a discreet cameo during the BangBangCon The Live opening VCR.

In the two MVs for “Dynamite”, several Nirvana posters could be seen in Jung kook’s room. It is to be noted than on almost all of them, Kurt Cobain’s face is hidden by a sticker.

Is there a point in all those references? Are they just for the aesthetic? Well, I’m not a professional so I can’t answer that. There’s obviously a big part of aesthetic as the boys are often representing rebellious youth, which was also the case with Nirvana. We can also see similarities in the lyrics talking about treason, death, and loss of innocence. Kim Sunghyun, the art director, is probably at the origin of all those references since he’s a big fan of the punk genre.

All in all, it’s a good idea to refer to the past generation. It proves that 90s boys with dirty hair had the same preoccupation as today’s pretty boys, no matter how much the world has changed.

Why did i choose my username:

*SIGH* my “dream job” used to be working at this supposed prestigious museum that I admired as a kid. What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?

One time, while working at the museum, I was taking care of a small garden we had with a few co-workers. That day I was watering the plants alone with a watering pot I had bought (those green plastic ones) and I guess I hadn’t realized that there was this plastic fragment that stuck out from the bottom, so while watering the plants my hand slips (cause the watering pot is wet and heavy). Next thing I know my hands is bleeding A LOT. Luckily it didn’t leave a scar or anything.
