There have been too many big life events in the past week. I am sleeping so badly. My brain is not processing.

#life stuff #many of the events are good things #but like #what the fuck #why is everything happening at once #why is the future coming for me so fast #a year is so long and so short at once #I just settled in where I am and I'm already halfway through my time here #and I feel okay about the job itself being temporary but I feel so weird about leaving these people I'm getting to know and like so much #In a few months time I'll be starting over again in a new job in a new city #and it'll be fine for sure #but god those first six months are always so hard #and it'll be my Probezeit too #So I feel like I'll need to be extra careful about everything #at the same time if I take this particular job I can see myself being really happy there #i'll be constantly exhausted for the first six months or so #but once I settle in I think this could be so good? #anyway the amount of tags is making the post glitch

the thing about imogen saying that "if getting rid of delilah means getting rid of [launda] too, it's not worth it" is that it doesn't really change anything, does it? yes it provides laudna with reassurance that she is loved regardless of what lives in her head, but it doesn't mean that imogen doesn't still have negative feelings about delilah being there. "I love you more than I hate delilah" doesn't mean she isn't still disgusted by delilah. I get the sense that this is not an important distinction for imogen--she's said her piece, she's told laudna that she matters more, and that's the end of it for her. laudna matters more. her meaning is crystal clear: I love you and I'm choosing you.

but laudna has been obsessed with imogen saying she was disgusted by delilah watching them. she said herself she can't stop thinking about it, and marisha has said she can't stop thinking about it either, out of game. as far as they know currently, delilah's soul is twined in and around laudna's to the point where they are indistinguishable. the only way to get rid of delilah is to lose laudna. laudna doesn't know where she ends and delilah begins. imogen loves her, but imogen is disgusted by delilah. how does that work if they are one and the same? how does laudna cope with the fact that an inextinguishable part of herself is both genuinely evil and hated by the person she loves the most? at what point does being disgusted by delilah become being disgusted by a piece of laudna herself?

#it's WILD and fascinating and very difficult #I think it's a super interesting dynamic and I really want to see where this leads #because unless they find a way to get rid of delilah without killing laudna #how DO you have a long-term relationship with this hanging between you two? #and again I think it's a thing where Imogen just assumes they'll ''deal with it'' in some unspecified manner and it'll be fine #because love triumphs all right? that's how it has to be #but i'm not sure laudna thinks that #then again we'll see! who knows! it's interesting though! #cr spoilers #anyway i WILL maintag this one because i really like this one #critical role

You are so right.

Okay a bit of retcon.

Soap gets hit on, yada yada, reader is confused, yada yada, eventually they make the open relationship comment.

Ghost, initally caught off guard, doesnt say anything and just glares at reader. And he continues to glare in silence, so reader in their confusion and nervousness starts to ramble an explaination and Ghost just cuts them off.

"Shut up, not another fucking word."

Its not a yell, the order is clear and reader does as they're told, it sounds almost like a threat. Then there's just a tense silence at the table and reader purposefully avoids looking at Ghost. Maybe they even shuffle away from him a bit. Then Soap leaves and reader can't help but look over to Ghost once hes out the door. Except Ghost looks utterly furious, they think his jaw looks tight under the balaclava. Ever the people pleaser, reader tries to apologise to him.

"Listen, Lieutenant, I didn't mean to-"

But violating an order from Ghost isn't the smartest thing to do. Next thing they know, reader is outside, practically being dragged by the scruff of their neck by Ghost back to base. Reader knows, hopes anyways, that Ghost wouldn't actually kill them, but right now they don't like their chances.

They don't make it back to base. He must be too angry, because he pulls reader infront of him and speaks lowly. The way reader has heard in the recordings, the way Ghost speaks during an interrogation, the way he speaks when his team is threatened. And they realise just how scared those who incur his wrath get.

"I told you to keep your mouth shut." "I really didn't-" "You think you're clever?" "I just thought-" "Thought what?"

Reader shuts up then, realises that silence is best here. Ghost continues into them, lashing and snarling and picking out things to say that will hurt. Hes angry, obviously, but as he carries on, reader realsies that its because they hit a nerve. Oh. Oh.

Ghost and Soap weren't together. But Ghost wanted to be.

So they take his wrath, his cutting words and vague threats all with a blank expression. Then Ghost calms down, or atleast he lets go of reader and takes a breather. As reader stands there and rubs the back of their neck, easing the redding skin from his tight grip, they just stare at him.

"What are you staring at?"

Reader has the mind to look around the area, glancing around Ghost to ensure they were alone. Once they're satisfied with the sweep, much to Ghosts exasperation, they lean in slightly and lower their voice.

"You really care about him."

Ghost is ready to kill reader right then, he opens his mouth, but reader beats him to it.

"And just so you know, he cares about you."

Reader walks away then, moving a bit quicker then normal while Ghost stands stock still. Still glaring at them, muscles still coiled to attack, but he lets them go.

Ghost decides that there is more to reader then he originally thought. And that he'll figure it out, to keep his team safe of course. Keep Johnny safe, not that he'd say that. And no other reason, none what so ever.

The thing that the whole "Poseidon told me to stay away" sets up is that it's absolutely going to be thrown back in everyone's faces in season 5 I just can't decide who I want to do the throwing

There's Hermes, who upon finding his favorite (and evilest) son dead on Olympus, could scream in rage at his uncle that he was wrong and that advice caused all of their problems

There's Poseidon, who upon finding the ruins of Olympus and the ruins of his own kingdom waiting for his return but his favorite son shaky but alive, can announce to Hermes and the rest of the Olympians that he was wrong and it was bad advice they should never have followed

Or there's Percy (I think this is most likely), who upon the return of the Olympians to find death and destruction everywhere that they could have prevented, among his "you have to pay attention and claim your kids" speech, can throw back the "you once told me my father said you had to stay away even when it's hard. But none of you did that--if you had, I would have died years ago. I wouldn't have made it through my quests without help from each of you at different times even when you were told not to interfere. I couldn't have fought this war if I hadn't had the support of my father and my family/friends, and we certainly wouldn't have won. You can't ignore your kids, or keep them at arms length and stay out of their lives. That's how we got in this mess in the first place"

boards season is over and there's going to be a mass burnout because all of us spent the last two months on minimal sleep, oversaturated on coffee

so here's a few reminders:

you did good. stop worrying about it stop trying to calculate what your percentage might be stop thinking about the dumb mistakes you could've avoided, its okay. you did good.

take a break, even if for a day or two because i know a lot of us have a whole lot of entrance tests coming up. but our brains and bodies have been on overdrive so take a break, you deserve it

rejuvenate. try slowly bringing yourself back into a normal schedule. work on fixing your sleep schedule, work on eating better. there's a long road ahead of us, you want to have a healthy sustainable routine to make it through this.

explore. it is not too late to change your path, i promise. this is the last chance you get to change your mind, don't waste it. explore your options now that you have full knowledge about your strengths and limits, there is so much more out there than we've been told. there are so many options i guarantee you will find your perfect fit, don't compromise on your future by just going along with the crowd, find what you want to do and work for it.
