I always read Grover as more like anxious than Percy which like he probably is bc he processes things differently and has had a hard life etc etc, but also maybe he's more anxious (esp when it comes to fights/risky situations) bc as a satyr, there is no afterlife for him. He dies, and that's it. He becomes a flower or a bush or whatever. There's no life after death, no choosing to be reborn, no seeing these people again. If he doesn't come out of a battle, it's over in a way that it just isn't for his friends.
And that makes his doing it anyway that much braver.

If Annabeth had joined the Hunters with Thalia at the end of ttc, I think Percy would've gone home and wallowed over losing his friends in absolute depression until about spring break, at which point he'd begin spending all of his free time googling things like "can I become a girl" and "how to tell if you're trans"
And maybe you hc trans Percy and he's actually discovering things about himself, or maybe you don't and he's just a desperate kid trying to convince himself of something because he misses his friends. Either way, I think he'd be able to look at a list and honestly go "yeah I felt out of place my whole life and only really felt right when I was with Annabeth" and then spend ages down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what he's actually thinking

I am highly against the ‘Thalia/Percy would be a partier who drinks and smokes’ agenda, when both of them have bad experiences with people who drank and smoked. I am a firm believer in the idea that Percy, Thalia, and Jason, can not be around people who drink without being on edge.

Just from personal experience as someone who moved to a place with an entirely different accent at 6.5 years old my "native" accent was almost entirely gone within probably like a year, so I expect she started to lose her accent once she got out of Virginia/started spending all her time with Luke and Thalia, particularly as they traveled north. I believe accents "solidify" around 10-13 (??? there isn't like a super great/exact number afaik) so I suspect it's more New York/Connecticut (Luke)/CHB than Virginia, but that does depend on when exactly she went back to live with her father and how long she was there. Also, it is pretty individual, so my experience might not reflect what hers would be.
I am very curious about Annabeth's accent. Annabeth is from Virginia so she would have a Virginian accent. However she ran away from Virginia when she was only seven and went to Camp Half Blood in Long Island. And the demigods at Camp Half-Blood are from all over, so it's possible that she would absorb their accents.
Did she keep her accent? Is her accent now an amalgamation of several different accents? Did she lose her accent but it now comes out only sometimes, with certain words or in moments of high emotion? Did she lose her accent on purpose to sever her ties with her past and mortal family? Did she try to copy Luke or Thalia's accents so she could be like them and they'd be more like a family? Did she copy Thalia's accent after she had died to keep a small piece of her? There are so many possibilities.

Yes I recognize that these options are not mutually exclusive. Please choose the option that is closest to your general relationship with fanfiction, on average. And feel free to tag options that overlap for you/anything I didn't think of!

it has always been so cute to me that even tho a war has just happened half of camp is destroyed or dead that the campers still thought it would be fun to bully percabeth
like did we ever learn why all of camp was just there when annabeth and percy kissed ??
like did annabeth recrute ppl to help ??
like maybe annabeth got malcom to help with the cupcake and he started the wildfire that was “annabeth and percy are sitting really close ALONE together for his birthday” so everyone went to eavesdrop or smth
or actually tyson definitely did that by accident now that i’m thinking abt it like he just told ppl who asked and everyone was like “thanks for letting me know >:)”
i always kinda thought maybe clarisse knew it was percy’s birthday and was planning on being a menace but when they pulled up annabeth was already there then the kiss happened and everyone was like “holy SHITTTTT”
like maybe the plan was to dunk percy in the water but they couldn’t find annabeth so they showed up late just to witness the kiss some kids probably cried a little but clarisse was like “sick now i can dunk BOTH of them” so that’s what they did
to me i always loved that clarisse was the one to be the head of that bc throwing them into the water to celebrate wasn’t for her - personally i don’t think clarisse could give two real shits abt percabeth actually dating or not (not that she doesn’t think they should- it’s just not her buisness) but yk who did ?? selina
there were probably long talks where all selina talked abt was the percabeth tea
“i have insanely hot gossip right now. >:)”
“ooo really?? >:)”
“yeah and it involves your two favorite people >:3”
“oh…really…… :|”
i like to think that was for her and i love that

Because the next part of this isn't where I want it to be yet due to packing and schooling, I'm going to post some (more) of my headcanons!
• The Hermes cabin treats all unclaimed demigods as their own siblings even after they get claimed (depending on how fast they get claimed).
• The year-round demigods are closer with each other, but during summer they tend to spend more time with the other campers more. The bonds they have are a bit obvious though.
• Travis and Connor Stoll have a running prank of convincing all new demigods that they're twins (at least until Travis leaves.)
• During Nico's brief stay at camp in The Titan's Curse, he made friends with the Stolls and a few other campers. (Canonically he met Will, but I did hc they met before it was confirmed.)
• The Ares campers are the best at every weapon, except bows. Some Apollo kids (Michael Yew included) take full advantage of bringing this up. When Sherman Yang brought up Will's less than proficient bow skills, Clarisse had Sherman apologize.
• Chiron teaches the year-rounders using Ancient Greek textbooks + books and myths, so they can understand the material easier.
• When Jason shows up, some people have to pay up because there were bets made on which of the Big 3 would have another secret demigod, when Hazel came more drachmas were exchanged to the Apollo cabin. (Drew: "How the Hades did you guess Hades would have another secret child!?" Will: "I mean, technically, it was Pluto?")
• After Beckendorf's death, the Hephaestus cabin seemed to dull until Leo showed up. He reminded them a lot of Beckendorf and yet was so different (starting with height).
• The Demeter kids hate the winter months and prefer spring and summer.

and if we don't get a girly lil montage of annabeth's makeover on circe's island with cutesy music in the background in s2, then what's the point??
like imagine. it's percy in a really tight situation rn. he's tempted by his humane insecurities, risking trusting a suspicious primordial goddess. but he's choked, because he wants to be perfect. he wants to be enough. we see a torn expression on walker's face. indecision and doom is hanging in the atmosphere.
then we cut to some pop music blaring in the background. leah's lips are touched up with lipstick a close up shot. her cheeks are brushed with powdered pink. we see her spinning around in some dresses while giggling with the servants (+reyna cameo). she's shooting star eyes at the mirror with someone gives her a grand reveal of her new gorgeous hairstyle.
oh, where were we again? oh yeah. we cut back to percys life or death situation or whatever.

The thing that I haven't seen anyone talk about re: Leah as Annabeth that we really need to is that yeah she's not blonde, so she's not giving any anti-"dumb blonde" representation. But "dumb blonde" is not the same stereotype it was in the early/mid-2000s. I grew up blonde, and I was smart, and I was treated that way, minus a handful of "blonde" jokes on like the school playground. There was no societal expectation that I would be treated dumb because of my hair color, not from my teachers or other adults I encountered. We no longer need the blonde Annabeth Chase to help show kids that they can be smart even if they have light hair. Book Annabeth did it, Elle Woods changed the world already, etc etc.
BUT there is just as much stereotype around "Black women are dumb" as there was around "dumb blondes" in the early/mid-2000s (if not more). It's a lot more racially motivated, and it has a lot more knock-on effects than being blonde has for decades. In addition to historic inequality that has led to Black people (esp girls) being denied access to education and able to like afford to pursue things on their own, people treat Black women as dumb. They just do. Just as stereotypical as the "angry Black woman" is that they are not smart, from stigmatism against AAVE to just general racism, internalized or otherwise. Portraying a Black girl as smart is not unheard of, but it's something society needs to see more of. It's something We need to internalize and accept and take into our everyday lives. Annabeth being smart and Black is representation we need, for all the BIPOC little girls and the rest of the world.
Annabeth no longer needs to be blonde. She is just as strong of a character as a Black girl, and still breaking stereotypes and working to improve the social view of girls. Perhaps even more.
Representation has power. Media has power. I think it's really powerful that Rick (et al) can see that power they're wielding, and use it to continue to make a difference that is positive and keeping with the spirit and message of the series as a whole.

Okay so like... I have a theory for Season 2 of PJOTV... hear me out here
Spoilers ahead if you haven't read Sea of Monsters, I'll put it below the cut:
So you know how in Season 1, we got flashbacks to young Percy and Sally, because Sally was so important and so crucial to the first season (and the first book, she's the entire reason that Percy went on the quest in the first place).
My theory is that the flashback parts of the episodes are going to be part of Season 2 but we're not going to be getting flashbacks of Sally and Baby Percy.
We might get a quick Tyson flashback but I'm thinking that because it's so crucial to think second book, the flashbacks are going to be Thalia, Luke and Annabeth when the three of them and when Grover finds them and Thalia's sacrifice.
Like I can see it in my head that Thalia's sacrifice to hold back the monsters at the top of the hill and turning into a tree and then like... that same episode or an episode later (probably the same episode let's be real) she comes back!
That's just my theory though

Listen the "my mom taught me ancient greek" is great and all but DID BABY PERCY NEVER ASK WHY??? I imagine, given the way he talks about his school experiences, he failed a lot of the time? But like it never crossed his mind to go "shouldn't you be trying to teach me math I just failed my twenty-fifth test in a row why are we learning a language that no one speaks anymore???"
Also it makes "like jesus?" a MUCH funnier line imo bc your mother has been teaching you ancient greek for your whole twelve years of life and if you were the Son of God wouldn't she be teaching you like idk hebrew???

@webanglikethat I need you to know that I've sat and let this percolate and actually you're so right it's Sally Jackson's song (and it can also be everyone else's but Sally)
"just someone who wants my company" and a woman who's been alone since she can remember, orphaned at five and again before she could even graduate high school?
"let it once be me" and a woman who married the worst man just to protect the one good thing in her life, a son who was always destined to have a troubled life? A woman who tries to see the best in everything but has had such a hard life and just wants to be happy one day?
My real question is did anyone ever tell Sally about the Great Prophecy? I think Sally would know something was up regardless, and obviously demigods have destinies anyway that I think fit the song's prophecy about happiness and belonging, but does she actually know that Olympus is supposed to be challenged when Percy turns sixteen, that he's not supposed to live past it?
Does she know the details of the prophecy or just sense that something's going to uproot her life, that she's not destined to keep this fragile happiness she's built?
Taylor Swift's The Prophecy song is absolutely pjo coded I just can't decide which character it is most
