Have to give the "I do like this job and the university, but I am WILDLY underpaid considering the amount of work/level of responsibility I have and if the university is serious about fostering a positive/supportive culture for faculty and staff, they need to give us all a serious raise" speech to my boss tomorrow. Uh, wish me luck?

I understand that literature nerd Jason Todd is kind of overblown in fanon compared to it's actual presence in canon (a few issues during his pre (and post?)crisis Robin tenure that highlight it) BUT consider that I think it's hilarious if the unhinged gun toting criminal has strong opinions on poetry

[ID: Screenshot of a chat that says "just leave my queen alone, she's already suffered enough. She wanted a life with her malewife murder monk pilot mechanic racer and you should respect her for that!]
It's Padmé defending's hours for me
I have been seeing more negative (with very weird connotations, tbh) posts about Padmé on my dash lately, and while I'm a firm believer of the "scroll past it" rule, it really irks me a lot because MOST of these takes sound a bit mysoginistic to me and also (to me) shows a lack of trying to understand her as a character, not in a "you don't get her" way, but in a "you don't even try to understand the character and her context in the damn story just because you wanna sound holy than thou" way.
I'm all for accepting takes about Padmé's flaws or having a slightly more privileged/closed view (and that makes sense, she's aristocracy) but these people are SO WEIRD whenever they wanna talk about her 🤨
I'll forever mad that George eliminated SO MANY scenes with Padmé in the movies, but I feel like even if we had those scenes, people's complaints would be exactly the same.
But also i think half of the time people fail at understanding Padmé is because they're also failing to understand Anakin's as a character, idk

"pick a tree" means "i love you" and I'm losing my shit about it. by the way. like.
like orym talks about keyleth like she's his boss. like she's a wonder. like he's in her favour, sure, but not like he's her friend.
but i half expected her to interrupt his deferential screed by sweeping him into a hug. "pick a tree" means "you need me and i will find you", means "i need you to be patient but if you call i will come".
she loves him. guys, she loves him. she doesn't know what he needs but all he has to do is call, and she'll try her best.

Scream 7 concept where Sam is a Ghostface and this is revealed to the audience early on in the movie. We spend the whole movie knowing she's been killing people and hiding it from everyone around her.
Another Ghostface pops up, and originally we're left to question whether it is Sam or whether they're working with Sam, and then eventually we learn no, they're not. Sam spends a lot of the movie talking about defending her sister, protecting her, in fact it's a little suspicious because Sam is never around when Ghostface attacks until the last confrontation before they move to the final showdown.
- I think this Ghostface should be someone who's obsessed with Sam and wants them to join her, not actually knowing she's been a Ghostface -
In Act 3, we get a Sam confrontation with this Ghostface - she's not alone in the room, I'll get to that in a minute - where they're going on and on about how much potential she has if she just gives in and all the things they could do together. And Sam laughs, it's a little unhinged. And then she reveals the truth, that she's already been killing, that she's been taking out scum like them for months, and then she straight up obliterates them.
Now, back to who is in the room, Tara and... Danny? One of the twins? Or perhaps someone new introduced in the movie. This person is freaking out, Sam just confessed to being a murderer. It's one thing to act in self-defence, but the things she's talking about... And Tara? She doesn't react at all. She knew all along.
This person starts talking about how it's wrong and Sam needs to turn herself in, and then they cut themselves off because there's a knife pressed against their back. "Tara... what are you doing?"
Sam stands up and watches them, she and Tara share a silent conversation.
"Defending my sister." She pushes the knife forward, but they turn to try and grapple her, the knife slips and slices across their back/side. Sam comes up from behind to pull them off her sister, and the person slips from their grip and runs. The sisters share a quippy little seriously? moment and then chase after him.

BTW, Dinah's list of possible BOP candidates:
Babs
Vixen
Grace Choi
Huntress
Lady Shiva
Talia (with a question mark)
Cheshire (also with a question mark)
Catwoman (on the list as Selina)
Onyx (I believe?)
Katana
Manhunter (I believe?)
Zatanna
Black (???) [It was suggested to me that this is possibly Lady Blackhawk, who has appeared on the BOP before]
Fire/Ice (they're a set, do not separate)

Waugh the ff fandom is doing it again, acting like 7 was the first... "this ship is the blueprint to all ships" c'mon, it's just another Cecil x Rosa copy, let's not kid ourselves. And 4 is just the earliest one I'm familiar with, if 1-3 have another lead x healer/ lead x childhood friend then they'd be the so called blueprint.

A few tiny things off top of my head that Yelan's SQ that ended up staring me right in the face, even if they oversold some of them a little bit at times (or done a little oddly)— but it's all about nuance, nuance.:
— Tianshu. She wasn't joking about being interested in the position of the Qixing's Tianshu, Uncle Tian didn't just take her at her word, he actually simply read her well. Regardless of whether she denies it by the end of the SQ, it is a position that someone with a mind like Yelan's is perfect for, and she knows that. The SQ does a decent job of showing that she understands multiple facets of intelligence (planning ahead and oversharing vs. adapting and divulging information only when the situation calls for it), she understands the difference of when people are driven by their emotions or their logic (and how to adapt to both), she knows how to socially play right into people's hands in ways that appeals to them; all in all, she's perfect for a position that revolves around information and people. Perfect. The only problem is that it takes her out of the field, and being in there is exactly what she enjoys the most. Her entire character plays around the defiance of boundaries, so why would she willingly place herself within such constraints? Besides, there is also the question of the Chasm. It is my firm belief that as dangerous as it is, and how monumental of a problem it's posed for Liyue in its history, she will never let that responsibility fall onto anyone else's shoulders. So in essence, to become Tianshu, she would have to restructure the entire position to be able to properly forego the bounds that Liyue Harbor would pose on her and leaving, which just like she is vulnerable to now, puts her at risk of capture or death. That is too high a risk for someone that would fill such a monumental position. So was Uncle Tian wrong for reminding her of the 'joke' that she made? No, for it was never a joke— it is simply not something she wants to turn into a feasible option. In other words, Uncle Tian is also very good at what he does. Good man.
— Identities. Here I go again, but this time to note: I'm not too big on how they depicted this bit in her SQ when we're going about the harbor's wharf. She fumbled a little too much at coming up with identities on the fly (and Paimon/Traveller gave her too much praise), or in better words: she hesitated too much. I understand that this may have been done to give her some flaws (or I'd have to account it to sub-par writing), but making something so baseline of her profession to hold a clear flaw isn't consistent with her character, her achievements nor her reputation. Numerous of Yelan's flaws lie in her personal life, they are pointed out in her character story, but they are minimal in her work. This isn't unrealistic, she's written to be an exceedingly rational and logical individual who thrives in her work, and it doesn't require to hold the same flaws as the other portion of her life to be well-written. Any way, I digress; another reason why I found this element of the SQ to be a bit inaccurate in terms of consistency: Yelan primarily operates within Liyue (Harbor), why would she be so careless with her identities and how she presents herself? Now of course I don't expect Hoyo to change her entire look simply for her SQ, but her first character story does seem to insinuate that she changes up her looks to match her identity— she frequents the same pharmacies without the pharmacists recognizing her. So realistically, I think we can deduce from this that, in all reality, she would have changed up how she appears at least a little: a coat, a hat, a change of hair. Someone she re-visits going 'Have I seen you before?' versus 'Ah, it's been a while since I've seen you!' are two vastly different things. On top of that, madam does not fumble— she actively shows in scenes that she is very patient, and we've seen her smile and take an extra few seconds before she speaks, that's how she handles 'hesitation', rather than being too hasty and speaking much too soon.

watched love simon again, had a breakdown, bon appetit.
something about how simon had (eventually) all that support - his mom told him he got to breathe now, his dad apologized for the jokes and for never seeing it, everyone said they loved him, that he was still him
anyway. rough never got the chance to do that (at least not to that extent, albeit also avoiding the wretched way it went down). at most, he came out to some friends at college, but not fully, not to everyone
and yeah, his parents might've been fine with it. emily probably would've. they would've all adjusted. eventually. but now he'll never know, is the issue. he won't get to tell them, and now everyone is going to remember him wrong. they are going to label and bury a casket containing a body that no longer belongs to him (and frankly, hasn't belonged to him in a long time)
functionally, he wasted his time. he Did School, then he graduated and Did College, then he died. he didn't get to Do a real relationship, or being himself. "you get to breathe now, you're still you" but is he? he never was himself, not all the way. "oh you're still yourself on the inside, no matter what other people saw or say" other people see him buried and mourn a girl who died years ago and he can't correct them

Thing I want to draw when i have the time and hand mobility:
a short comic of Adonis and Ione at the grocery store. Ione is carrying the basket which seems to mostly have meat candy and booze in it.
Adonis picks something up off the shelf.
I: Oh wait. Check to make sure it's not sugar free, i can't have a lot of types of artificial sweeteners.
A: How do I check?
I: It's usually written on the box? Look for something that says 'sugar free' or 'artificially sweetened.'
Adonis holds the box up and examines it closely before looking back up at her.
A: I can't read.
I: Ah.
