I just read the interview Ben gave about the darkling's characterization and holy shit it's just word for word what you wrote last year in that amazing meta about books and show darkling and I COULDN'T HOLD MY SHIT!!! Is there hope for us after all???? Does he read us??? It seems like he read you!!!
I admit I wasn't aware of it until this very moment (I'm afraid I loom outside fandoms), but this made me so incredibly happy, anon!
Of course I'd be beyond glad to know my metas are so read, but chiefly the fact that Ben proved once again such an intelligent person so deeply committed to the character gives me real hope for the difficult season that is ahead of us.
The fact that we described his characterization using the same words is irrefutable proof that he understands the Darkling, and hopefully this will counterbalance any cliché idiocy the script might contain. The gods only know how this character is in need and deserves such advocates, being treated so nonsensically and dreadfully by his very own author.
If the writers and the actors do read what we write (they would never and literally cannot admit it for legal reasons, but this is not the first time I suspect they do), we surely have a higher chance to get quality content.

The most fucking annoying thing about all the "conflict of interest" gate is it's going to be F1 Academy and Susie that suffer as a result of it.
They're not going to lobby for Toto to move on and dissociate from Mercedes, they'll want Susie fired, so F1 Academy will lose the person spearheading it, despite her clearly being the best qualified person for the role right now. Just as the series is finally going to get an opportunity to take off, it will lose its rudder and get derailed before its begun.
And even if they DON'T find anything of note, it's Susie's reputation that will end up being tarnished, because its always women that bear the brunt of these things, despite F1 and 'conflict of interest' going hand in hand since records began.
And all this for a tabloid magazine article by someone who not only is banned from the paddock, but has been on the receiving end of numerous libel cases from people inside the paddock.
The FIA are trying to appear like they're being 'fair and thorough and authoritative' but they're not, they're just legitimising the accusations when it's not really their issue to investigate. It's shameful politicking and it's yet another example of the FIAs internalised misogyny. Where was their investigation into the allegations about Mohammed Ben Sulayem? Or is it only when it suits them?

"haha, are you an art gay, a science gay, or a math gay"
Actually, I find the division between art, science, and math to be a very nebulous idea and useless when you actually interact with the universe. The more you learn about the world, the more you surround yourself with art and science and math, and you'll never be able to see it any other way and it will be beautiful. When I take your hand, it won't be the science of our atoms closing the distance between us that we will experience, but the math of our fingers interlocking and the art of our bodies that we will experience. You are math and you are science and you are art, and nothing will make you any lesser💛

Hey puff! So you said Hades is a "mess who hasn't spilled over" and there are definitely some warning signs even now - Artemis' dislike, the ominous grin in the last chapter does not bode well for Alex, him treating Minthe pretty badly and dismissively, being open about his attraction to Kore while acknowledging Minthe, eating Dio to shut him up and laughing about it (No Kronos flashbacks, Hades??) Of course he did a lot of this in LO too but that was framed as a good thing and you seem more self aware than that.
My question is are he and Kore still endgame with his bad traits? Or is Kore just hiding a much darker, more selfish side who would like all this?
Hades and Kore are both very, VERY complicated people with complicated backstories that involve both the good and the bad. They're both victims of circumstance as well as their own wrongdoings (even the ones that were well-intentioned, they're both walking the road to hell wink wink), they're both holding on to some pretty dark shit and we're going to be exploring plenty of both sides along the way. I'm obviously trying not to spoil anything, but I will say that Hades and Persephone are not going to have a cut-and-dry 'fairy tale romance' like what was attempted in LO, Rekindled is attempting to be a more faithful retelling of the original Hymn to Demeter after all (or at least its original themes and messaging). They're both incredibly damaged people with a lot of tightly-sealed baggage that DESPERATELY needs to be unpacked and we all know what happens to relationships built on those types of foundations ;0 So that's all ima say on that ~
As for the irony of Hades 'eating' Dionysus, hurt people hurt people. Though I wouldn't worry about Dionysus, he just projects his consciousness into berries, he's alive and well ;) As for Hades... let's just say you shouldn't eat berries possessed by the god of madness, guy is gonna have a harsh comedown LOL

i could KILL him for this. motherfucker's every interaction with children has him being, if not nice, then at minimum kind and forgiving and genuinely invested in their wellbeing.
he asks crying kids what's the matter, he's afraid to hold a baby because he's worried he'll drop it, he goes after people who are mean to kids without a second thought. his whole mentorship with timothy hunter is him trying to do right by that kid no matter how he feels about it at the time. man would be the most loving dad in the world but because of his own awful goddamn father and the ways he thinks he takes after thomas, he doesn't think that's true. i hate.

A Bard's Lament rewrote my brain and I know for a fact Hiraeth has a similar breakdown when they lose a horn in Act 3.
Oh you're worried that I won't be able to help you defeat the Absolute while I'm having a breakdown? Oh you're feeling down in the dumps because I'm not here each night singing you a little song? Wow you're telling me you all also have problems but you just deal with them and move on? Oh, I know all about your fucking problems, none of you will shut up about them.
Like I imagine they're gearing up to clearly have a cathartic meltdown, but then they just. Stop. Take a deep breath. And turn away. Because they've been doing that for years before these freaks showed up and dumped all their issues on them. And maybe losing a horn doesn't seem like such a huge deal compared to anyone else's issues, but it's the camel that breaks their back.
They are very tired. They want to go home. But they don't have a home to return to.

alright uhhhh here we go hahaha do you guys. um. do you guys wanna hear the thing I made. which is just my self insert praising my f/o through song. no pressure or anything
lyrics:
drift away in slumber's embrace
falling into your grace
guiding me, the pull of sleep
keeps me in your company
and all I've known are warm reveries
divinity within my dreams
golden gaze did captivate me
I'm yours eternally
lull me in a mindless embrace
slumber take me away
soft and strong, no need to wake
a lovely ethereal place
when I had nothing left of me
solace found me in my dreams
carried me in tranquility
beloved god of sleep
