[Ten] [Eleven] [Twelve]
Someone knocks on the truck door, startling me. I thought it was going to be Charlie but when it was Jacob instead, my eyebrows furrowed.
He opens the door and forces me to scoot over. I then look at the door to see Bella waving and then entering the house. "You apologized?" I asked, holding myself tightly. Not caring about anything else.
"Yes, and I need to apologize to you as well." He doesn't look me in the eyes as he says this. "It's fine Jake." I shrug it off but he disagrees.
"It's not fine. I didn't understand anything and immediately jumped on you. You're nothing like the Cullens." He says, I look up at him. "Jacob, the Cullens have done nothing to you." I cross my arms, "whatever, that's not the point of this talk. I should've never said those nasty things about you. Your situation... it's pretty serious and I'm sorry." He sincerely says in a soft tone. "I have another thing to bring up to you." He tells me and I nod for him to keep talking, bringing my knees up to my chest as I listened.
"Victoria, that red headed chick. You know she's after Bella-" "Yes I already knew that." I chuckled, "why?" My nose scrunches, confused on why he would bring something up I already obviously know.
"Well you know she's after you too right?" He asks, giving me a serious look and then I see in the forest line, Sam and Paul's wolves poking out. "Yeah, Laurent might've mentioned it." I look back to him, now tensed up from the conversation.
"I don't think it's to kill you though. I think she wants to trigger the curse." Jacob says, he's hesitant though. I think Sam fully explained everything to him for which I'm grateful but he should know I don't think I could ever truly trust him again. "Finish what James was trying to accomplish." I finish Jacob's words. Now thinking it all over. Before he turned me he said he wanted me to turn into a vampire so he could kill me and it would be permanent. But he didn't know if that was actually true.
"She figured out what James wanted to know." I sigh out, putting my head down.
He pulls me into his arms and I actually felt a tear pass my eyes, startling me but nothing that's supposed to make sense is anymore so I ignore it. "I'm scared, Jake." My body trembles as he holds me a little tighter.
"Hey, it's okay." He assures me, "we're gonna keep you safe." Even in the arms of Jacob all I can think about are Alice and Jasper.
The next day I decided to go hunting myself. I haven't gotten to do so in a while and I need to have enough strength to not react to other people's blood.
I'm not going to get into anything gory, of course attacking an animal I try to keep to a minimum due to the guilt I feel. Even if this is the better way I still hate doing this. Yeah, I ate meat as a human but I didn't have to do the killing to eat it. To my left I hear leaves rustling, almost scaring me until I realized it wasn't as close as I thought. Moments later a large body makes its way from the trees. I shake my head, smiling. "Hey Jake, Embry." I acknowledge the one behind him.
Jacob nods his head slightly, coming over to look at the animal I covered with leaves, then turning to look at me. "I uh, feel bad." I rub the back of my neck before wiping the blood from my mouth.
"Still on the search for Victoria?" I question as if I could understand them. I mainly go by body language. Embry huffs meaning they definitely still are. That was until we heard a laugh. Jacob gets in front of me and then we see a glimpse of red hair.
Jacob and Embry go after her as I stand there confused on if I should go help or not, then I remember I told Bella I'd meet her back at the house after hunting.
Racing home I get there to see Bella's truck gone. I begin to panic, using my speed ability to check around the house before thinking next of where she could be.
The guys weren't supposed to allow her to leave so most of them might be chasing after Victoria. I hurry up and  go to the Rez. Fuck, I don't know where she could be around here.
I run to Sam's house, banging on the door like a mad woman. It swings open and his face is furrowed.
"[Name], what happened?" I push past him in the house. "Where's my sister?" I look around, going into the kitchen then searching in other rooms. Only to bump into another woman.
"Sam, what's going on?" The woman asks, I push past her as well, going to go outside but Sam stops me.
"This is [Name], Bella's sister. And what's going on, why are you freaking out?" He questions me, I grow antsy, not wanting to answer him as I was just trying to find my sister. "[Name], what's going-" "Bella, where is she?" I glare at him. "You said you guys were gonna keep her safe, she was supposed to be at the house, where is she?" I start to grip back on his arm, visibly hurting him but I was not doing too goof. "It's okay, she was was just here." Sam attempts to calm me down.
"Yeah, she was looking for Jacob." The girl speaks up, I glance back at her. Then something comes back to me. The cliff. She wanted to cliff dive. "Thank you!" I point to the random woman I've never seen before.
Speeding out of the house, practically ripping my body out of Sam's grasp.
Arriving at the Cliff I look around, seeing Bella's truck parked. I hurry towards the water, Bella's body was falling to the water. "Bella no!!" I scream. She hit the ocean.
"Bella!" I cry out. Moments pass and then her body pops out. A huge relief settles in my body. Panic still over washed my face nonetheless. "Yes!" She laughs. Then a wave crashes over her, pulling her under the water. Without thinking I dive into the water once I hit the water I open my eyes, searching for Bella.
It takes longer than I liked but once I found her, her eyes were closed. I just barely grab her by her sleeve, once I have her I fix my grip to her waist. Swimming out of the water, making sure her head is above it.
Getting onto shore I try to remember what to do. I hear footsteps behind me as I begin CPR. "Oh my god, Bella." It was Jacob behind me, he gets down to his knees as well on the other side of her.
"Bella, please." I beg with her, dread entering my body. Jacob and I lift her torso up, hitting her back. Finally she spits out water.
"Bella!" "Bella can you hear us?" Jacob asks. "[Name]...? Jake?" She's attempting to focus on us, mainly staring at me. Sam stands behind us. "She'll be alright." He tells us, I stand up letting Jacob lecture her as mine will be far far worse.
I go over to Sam.
"Sorry..." I mutter. "Sorry?" His eyes widen slightly, surprised I'm talking to him to begin with. "For pushing past you, searching your house." I say, holding myself. Weirdly just now feeling the water drip from my clothes.
"Who was that girl?" I suddenly ask as he stayed silent after my apology. "That's Emily, Paul's imprint." He informs me.
I nod my head a little bit. "Oh," Was all I said in return before joining Bella and Jacob again.
"Get them home, I'm heading to the hospital, I'll meet you there!" Sam shouts over to Jacob who only nods in return. Sam jogs off.
"Why would you jump? Didn't you notice it's like a hurricane out here? You're lucky [Name] got here in time." Jacob turns back to my sister. "I know. It was stupid- Sam said hospital- someone's hurt?" She asks and then I realized what was said too and we both stare at him waiting for an answer.
"Harry Clearwater had a heart attack." He informs us. I close my eyes, knowing that's going to be heartbreaking for our dad. "Oh my god- does our dad know?"
"He and my dad are both over there." He says. "Will Harry be okay?"
"I don't know. Come on. I'll find you both something dry and drive you guys home." He tells us, helping my sister up. She then falls into my arms and we walk together as I hold her from the side.
Jacob both found us jackets but it was kind of irrelevant for me as I don't feel cold. Bella shivers though so Jacob pulls her close.
"Hundred and eight degrees over here." He smiles, she tucks herself further into him. "Must be nice, never getting cold." She says to the both of us, mainly to Jacob so I stay quiet. "It's a wolf thing." He shrugs it off. "It's a Jacob thing. You're just... warm." She compliments him. "Like the sun." He grins.
I roll my eyes from the subtle flirting he's trying to pull off. "Like the sun." Bella repeats him.
"Which like always comes back. You can count on me." He sincerely tells her. She only nods though. I feel her grow awkward. "There are other cool things about all this, like- I heal fast. Wanna see me stab my hand?" He jokingly messes with her. "Yeah, 'cause that would be fun." She sarcastically responds.
Jacob pulls the truck into our house. "So... this wolf thing's not all bad?" She changes the subject, I still decide to stay quiet. I feel tired almost which is weird but ignored like everything else has been. "It's better. Not that you know. But..." He grows quiet. "But..." She says, egging him on to continue. "It's just... comes so easily to me. More than the other guys."
"That's a good thing, isn't it?" She tilts her head.
"Maybe. Or maybe it makes me less human than the others." I notice him glance at me then back to Bella. It was quick, not exactly intentionally but I saw it.
"Sometimes I'm scared I might disappear, you know? Who I really am." Bella looks him directly in his eyes and this where I take it as a sign to get out of the truck.
They of course noticed it due to Bella's truck being so nosey but they continued with their conversation. I leaned against the truck, wanting to wait for Bella before I went into the house. I closed my eyes thinking about how Bella might not have made it. Moments later Bella opens her truck door but Jacob pushes her back into the trucking slamming her door before grabbing me and leading me back into the vehicle as well. "There's a bloodsucker out there." He says.
"Hey! Excuse me!" I motion to myself, I get a quick apology but then I notice the sense of another as well. "How do you know?" She questions. "He can smell us. Wolves and Vampires have distinct smells." I tell her.
"Yeah, and they reek. Sorry [Name] but it's true. And I'm getting you guys out of here." He pulls out of the driveway, whipping the truck around. "It's not Victoria!" I shout. And both Bella and I look in the driveway again. Realizing who it is. "Yeah, stop, it's not here!" Bella screams.
"Forget it." He shakes his head.
"It's Carlisle's car! They're here. Go back!" Bella orders him but he doesn't listen. "It's a trick-" He floors it so I take Bella, opening the door and jumping out causing Jacob to slam the breaks. I try to careg Bella bridal style, going to run off to the house but Jacob gets in front of us. I slowly put my sister back down. "Stop, you guys gotta come with me." He desperately says to us.
"It's okay. They're my friends." Bella argues. "Jacob something might be wrong if they're back." I plead with him. "Don't you get it? If a Cullen is back here, this is their territory. The Treaty says we can only defend our own lands." He explains to us.
"It's not a war." Bella disagrees. "It is. And you'll only be safe in La Push. I can't protect you here anymore." This isn't about me anymore. I'm only plus one because I'm Bella's sister.
"I don't need you to-" "You're about to cross a line." He cuts her off. "Only if you draw one." Bella states. We begin to move past him but he stops us. "I'm not letting you two do this." He says.
"You don't have a choice. We- I don't belong to you." She says, knowing it will hurt him, and it does. She sees it but she knows she can't take it back. He hands her the keys. "Bye, Bella. I hope you both don't die." Bella flinches from his words, he disappears in the woods. Leaving us in the road so I take the keys from her. Grabbing her arm so we can continue our way to the house.
But as we begins rustling noises start. She freaks out but I smell the scent of who it is and I instantly let Bella go. She screams though, stopping once she sees who it is. "Alice!"
"You're... alive." Alice seems confused. I stand back, completely silent at the sight of her. Bella hugs her. "Oh my god, Alice. You're here." Bella grins. "I heard voices- I didn't think it was you two but- you're alive." She repeats herself from the first time. "You keep saying that." Bella chuckles anxiously.
"I saw you- a vision of you- you jumped off a cliff. I knew I'd be too late but- Why the hell would you try to kill yourself?!" She suddenly grows angry. "I didn't I was cliff diving." Bella corrects her.
"Why?!"
"Um... fun?" Bella even questions it herself, knowing her answer isn't a good one. "That was fun for you." Alice looks her up and down. "Until I hit the water." She nods. "I have never met anyone more prone to life-threatening idiocy... and what is that hideous dog smell on the both of you?" Oh so she can acknowledge my existence.
"Oh, probably Jacob. He's kind of a werewolf."

Can we know more about Eden's trauma? I'm so into their story
Good question, anon :] tbh I've been pretty reluctant to go into too much detail about Eden's past on here, since even though he's a fictional character, the stuff that happened to him is more along the lines of "realistic fiction" - meaning that the mentioned events *can* occur in real life - and therefore could trigger real people who might've experienced anything similar.
BUT I think it should be fine, so long as I add a trigger warning. // TW for talk of: physical abuse, domestic violence, verbal abuse, death while in labor, murder, alcoholism, & a brief mention of hypothetical miscarriage. If any of the things listed trigger you, maybe don't read this one to be safe, ight? The short & sweet version is that Eden's father and stepmother are some stank bitches. and Eden's sister, Forrest's mother, & Eden's adoptive grandma are queens.
If you stuck around, here we go. (This is SUPER long, so I'm sorry ab that) Eden Ash Harmon's birth - February 5th, 2000 - was a long, painful, & ultimately fatal one for his mother, Lauren May Harmon. various complications occurred, and she ended up not even surviving long enough to get to see him draw his first breath. His father, Troy Harmon, was devastated over his wife's passing, and overwhelmed by the prospect of not only becoming a new parent, but now becoming a single parent. He had to grieve, whilst trying to raise Eden. which was even harder, because he was born prematurely and of course, smaller and weaker than normal, so he required a lot of extra care. This took a serious toll on him, and Troy began to unfortunately rely on alcohol - a reliance which only got worse over time, and developed into just alcoholism. By the time Eden was just three years old, his father had grown to resent him, and blame him for all of the struggles he faced. and by the time Eden was 4, he'd unfortunately begun expressing his resentment aloud. He'd say really nasty things like how he wished Lauren had just miscarried instead of giving her life to birth Eden, because he'd rather have his wife back than have Eden. To Eden's face. Both drunk, and sober. Making sure Eden knew exactly how much of a "burden" he was. Which, of course, was really harmful. Troy was also physically abusive toward him, doing things such as putting out cigarettes on his skin - the burn scars of which Eden still has to this day, though they're now more faint. Then, one day Troy brought home a woman called Sharon, and introduced the two to each other. It wasn't uncommon for Troy to bring women home for one-night-stands, but come to find out, Troy and Sharon had actually been dating for around three months before this introduction. Eden, at first, was honestly excited. He thought this meant his father would be happy again, and he may get a mother.
The first part seemed true for a while. Troy was much calmer than he'd previously been, but that didn't last. because Sharon soon got pregnant. Now Sharon was originally indifferent towards kids for the most part, and because of this, didn't become too close with Eden at the time, but she found herself wanting to keep the baby. The news of the pregnancy triggered Troy, and sent him into a panic. all of the memories of the day Eden was born and he lost his first wife, came flooding back. He didn't know how to handle this properly, and started to behave aggressive towards Sharon too, as he had with Eden. He hadn't physically hurt her, but he was getting close to it (think, punching walls or throwing things - aggressive hand gestures, etc.) and it soon dawned on Sharon that the home was not safe anymore.
So, she planned to leave without telling him. Eden himself still isn't sure why, but she opted to take him with her. maybe it was pity, maybe it was newfound maternal instinct due to having her own baby on the way, who knows? well, not long after her baby - & Eden's younger half sister - Beatrice Harmon, was born, while Troy was out one evening, Sharon packed what she could of their belongings - only the important things & clothing - that she could fit in her purse, & made for her mother's house, maybe 2 hours away.
Sharon's mother, Susan, was - for lack of a better term - an angel. Though they weren't blood-related, she immediately welcomed Eden as her grandson, with open arms. She stayed with them every day while Sharon was at work, and actively engaged with and played with them. Eden even had his first birthday celebration there when he turned five. This was by far the best year of his entire life at the time.
Well, of course, that also didn't last. (Here's where things take an even darker turn, so if you need to, refer back to the tw.)
Troy found them. Susan was behind the corner, fixing lunch for Eden and Bea, when he showed up, and broke in. In broad daylight. Eden completely froze at first, unable to even believe that this was happening. Troy destroyed things, and stomped all throughout the small home, calling Sharon's name. But Sharon, ironically, wasn't even home - she was at work. Susan yelled for him to leave, and grabbed a kitchen knife in order to protect the kids, then dialed 9-1-1.
Troy flew into a rage, and injured her, very badly. She was only in her mid-sixties, but she was still an older woman. She kept screaming for Eden to take his sister and run to the neighbors, since the front door was still ajar, but Eden couldn't yet hear anything. His ears were ringing, and his body was completely paralyzed with fear. Troy injured one of her legs badly enough that she couldn't get up off of the ground, and then ended up knocking her unconscious.
when Eden could finally make his body move, all he could think was not to stop Troy. Stop him from hurting Susan any further, and not to let him lay a finger on his baby sister. So, he grabbed the kitchen knife and did what he had to. The end result wasn't immediate however, and - still pumped full of adrenaline - Troy ended up injuring Eden quiet badly as well. Then, he realized how badly injured he *himself* was, panicked, and promptly took off on foot.
Eden was unable to move due to his injuries, but still semi-conscious. Susan was gravely injured, and he wasn't sure whether or not she was even still alive. Bea ended up being completely physically unharmed. Neighbors came outside, found them, and dialed 9-1-1, successfully hitting 'call' this time. All three were rushed to the hospital to be examined & treated. The hospital also contacted Sharon, and she got there as fast as she could.
At first, Sharon was just so relieved that her mother and Eden were alive, and that Bea wasn't injured. But after a day & a half, authorities found Troy. Not alive. He'd failed to get medical attention for his own injuries, obviously for fear of going to prison. When Sharon found that out, she was - surprisingly - devastated. apparently at one point, she'd gotten it in her head that they could reconcile someday in the near future, and had - stupidly - given him strong hints as to where they were all staying.
and of course, now that he was dead, all those plans went up in smoke. So, who does she blame? If you said Eden, you win! :,]
Eden, still being a kid - and a severely traumatized one, at that - of course did the same thing he did the last time he was blamed for someone's death, and believed that it really was his fault. So now, in his mind, he'd killed *both* his parents (which of course was not the case - it was not his fault at all.)
Sharon took custody of he and Beatrice, as she was pretty much all they had left. And like last time, she let her resentment fester, and turn into physical and verbal abuse. Only toward Eden though. Bea grew up witnessing this, and since her older brother was literally nothing but nice to her - and practically raised her due to Sharon's neglect of both kids - she fortunately stood up for him whenever she got the opportunity.
Susan held on as long as she could - until Eden was eleven - but eventually succumbed to her internal injuries. Infections played a role. Eden was forbidden from attending her memorial service, by Sharon, because - in her words - "She wasn't even really your grandma." She forced Bea to attend with her, and left Eden home alone that day.
Fast forward, and Eden's sixteen. Sharon demands that he start paying rent, or else she'll kick him out. Eden's not stupid, so he at first refuses, stating the obvious - that she couldn't kick out a sixteen-year-old. but she does anyway. she kicks him out, then calls the cops, and reports him as a runaway. Making him out to be an unruly teenager, who just wears her out all the time, and runs away when asked to do simple house chores such as cleaning his room (lies, lies, lies.)
She did this multiple times, and every time, the cops believed her. Eden got sick of it, and finally agreed to get a job so that he could pay rent. He went to work at a shitty local coffee shop, as a barista. There, he met Forrest! :] Yes, we finally get to some GOOD news.
At first, they didn't talk much, but after a while, Forrest noticed Eden struggling with certain things, and that whenever he asked for help, he was either ignored or insulted for "not knowing how to do his job." So, he offered to help him, since he knew his way around the place by then. That's how their interactions started. Coworkers to friends to lovers, basically.
Eden began spending every lunch with Forrest, listening to him infodump. everyone else thought Forrest's constant yapping was "annoying," but Eden was just glad to have someone who wanted to talk to him. Especially someone his age, and especially someone friendly.
By the time Eden was 17, he'd already filled Forrest in briefly about his home life, and Forrest and his mother Margaret, had made it clear to Eden that if it came down to it, he was welcome to stay with them. Sharon was constantly ranting about how she couldn't wait for the day when she was no longer legally responsible for him anymore, so Eden prepared. He made sure Bea still had a way to keep in touch with him whenever she needed, and he packed one bag of essentials, and kept it hidden until his 18th birthday.
On his 18th, he was immediately kicked out. I'm talking 2 o'clock in the morning, woken up, and told to get out and never come back. So, he did. He went to stay with Forrest & Margaret, and stayed there for 3 years. During which he remained working with Forrest at the coffee shop, and offered to pay Margaret rent, to which she laughed and told him to save his money, and he didn't need to do that.
Margaret too is an angel, fr. Anyways, at 21, he and Forrest were dating and decided to move in together. And ofc, Beatrice later ended up moving out right away at 18 because she couldn't stand her mother. And the rest is history. :]
I always say, the silliest goose has the most fucked up backstory

Hi Rain, how are you? Why do you think they have such different ways on how they talk about each other in public? If Jungkook doesn't want to talk about Taehyung, why would Taehyung not do the same?
Hi anon!
I don't actually think they have hugely different ways of talking or sharing about each other on socials. Fandom has a tendency to over exaggerate when it comes to members's bahaviors in general, and I think when it comes to Jk and Taehyung and their relationship that is very very much true as well.
It's not like Tae is spilling his feelings and information about their relationship freely and without boundaries (in general, because those last lives were somewhat different and I'll come back to that later). Tae lets us know they're close and they spend time together. It's his fondness of Jk that he's showing, but not the extend of that fondness. It's something he's always done, so it's nothing new. It's just something that's maybe more obvious now, because the other members aren't included in his live as much as they were before. So the difference between Tae and Jk's relationship and those with other members is just more visible. I don't think Tae want's to come out right now, but I think his reasons for that are rational and separate from his feelings. When it comes to what his heart wants, I think he wants to be free. We've all seen that SK has once again upholded the ban on gay sex. So even if Tae and Jk felt strong enough to go against SK societal opinion, they still can't be out because of the sole fact that if they were to be out while being in the army it would endanger their freedom. Even if they were to not actually do something during that time, the mal intent of others, the rumors that nasty people would put out, could possibly have a way different outcome than what we've seen so far. So they just can't and Tae knows that. They have always protected their relationship. I think part of Tae doing Taennie was because of protecting his relationship. That doesn't mean that he feels good about it. That doesn't mean that at times he wishes he could be more open. That doesn't mean that at times his feelings get so strong that he can't/won't push them back. I don't know if Tae actually did those lives on purpose, for us to witness what we did. I don't feel he was drunk to the extend of not being able to think rationally during his first live (listening to Jk sing), I think he felt tipsy and shared a feeling he had on the spot. Very human behavior. The live of him in bed with someone next to him (Jk sleeping imo)... was it him intentionally doing that with the purpose of people noticing? Or was it him thinking no-one would notice? The first option would be a bit more bold and would definitely make me think something triggered him. The second option would just be him miscalculating how much we can pick up on lives. To him it might've seemed as though Jk was sleeping soundly and silently (being used to sleeping aside one another will do that), but in reality Jk's breathing was audible enough for us to pick up on. I'd like to state that I feel none of these options are a reason for people to judge Tae on his behavior (as I've seen people do in my inbox). Personally my support for them extends to the way they choose to navigate their closets. None of us are in their shoes, none of us know what the actual risks are, none of us know what goes on behind the scenes, so none of us get to judge.. we haven't got the right amount of information to do that.
Now Jk is not as 'dismissive' or silent about Tae as some like us to believe. There is no member that Jk has been hanging out with as much as he has with Tae. Those are actions.. and Jk is an actions kinda guy. I think the biggest difference between Tae and Jk in this is that Jk has embraced the 'secret' part more. Whether this is due to him being a bit more afraid, or due to him being an actual private person more, or both (yes, it's both I think).
When you are in a relationship you don't automatically have the same way of dealing with things. Tae and Jk have different characters which makes up for the differences in the way they communicate and share. What happens when there's something you both have to deal with, is that you talk it through and come up with a joint way of handling it. And I think the way they are both handling their relationship in public is to show closeness, but not the extend of their closeness. When it comes to their relationship, is Tae a bit more spontaneous and driven by strong feelings at times? Yes, I think that's the case.

Episode 11: The Belly of The Beast.
It's been a minute since we had ourselves a good old fashioned monster movie. New ideas are fun, but the classics are classics for a reason. Lights are going down!
The Good.
The Shorthalts.
For a split second, I thought they might've actually changed Kaylie's mom's name to Leia: just for the tiniest second. Kaylie's face and Scanlan's "Are you sure?" are just the cherry on top of that sequence.
Aisling Franciosi gives an almost surprisingly heart breaking performance as Kaylie here. You can feel how broken up she is, how she's been wanting to tell Scanlan all this for a while....but you don't just feel her anger; you feel her hurt. A lesser performance could've made this scene a joke, but she pulls it off fantastically.
Vax And The Matron.
During Vax's super creepy vision, we start to get more of an idea of what the Queen wants. Until this episode, if you didn't already know her deal, you might guess she was furious with Vax: seeking compensation for his taking her Champion's armor and Vex's life being spared. But when the dead call out to Vax, it's the first indication of her motivations. It also tells us that she's not a spiteful, vengeful creature. This flows into the encounter later in the episode and helps set the tone for said encounter nicely.
Also it's just good to be reminded of these characters. Makes their deaths seem like they matter.
Vex is sneaky as hell, and Keyleth is still adorable. The talk the two have while Vax is communing is a nice cap-off to the tension between them in Season One. Vex has been kinder to Keyleth in general, but Vex effectively giving Vax and Keyleth's romance her blessing is a tangible example of her character development.
The New Champion.
There is no end of good to say about Vax's communion with the Raven Queen: the temple and the goddess herself are jaw-droppingly gorgeous to look at, and the buildup wherein her priestesses lead Vax into the temple is suitably spooky without coming across as hostile. But I think what gets me the most is the tone is just right. This sequence could've easily read like she was trying to manipulate him: playing nice when they both know she's got him over a barrel. But just like in the stream, the Queen is gentle and soothing, as if she knows how terrifying she can come across, and is trying not to spook a man who already knows the terror of impending grief. The moment shared between them feels like a balm on a burn. Courtenay Taylor gives an indescribably splendid performance as the Matron; we're two for two in most excellent goddess portrayals.
I love that they gave Vex a reaction to Vax coming out covered in blood. Even in this world of magic and monsters, some things are still weird. And it was a nice touch to have the area look gloomy as hell when Vax initially approached it, but the day is sunny and hopeful after Vax has made his peace with the Matron.
Umbrasyl.
This bit with Percy and the Goliaths is a better version of what they tried to pull with him in the Fey Wild.
The trap and the trigger. Percy and Vex: the clever ones.
That acid breath is, as always, horrific. That disembodied mouth opening up in the air, dripping with neon green, the invisble belly scales coated with blood....Mm! That's a visual.
All of this is nasty in the best ways, so I don't know why that acid on the back of Keyleth's ankle gets me so much. It's such a small thing. Maybe because it reminds me of every blister I've ever had. Whatever the case, it always makes me flinch when I see it.
I almost couldn't believe they were actually going to perform dragon proctology to get Scanlan and Vax in there when I saw it in the trailer. I don't know why. But in hindsight...of course that's what they did. Of course. Why did I question that?
And we end on the same beautifully unresolved cliffhanger that the stream did. No notes.
The Bad. (Or at least, the not great.)
World Building
Again, I have to whine about world-building here.
In DnD and the original Critical Role stream, all these characters had differing lifespans. Keyleth could live for thousands of years. The half-elves could live around 200 years. Percy could live a human lifespan. Grog's lifespan would be slightly shorter than Percy's. The Gnomes, however, could live up to 500 years, during most of which they would maintain their youth.
In other words, Scanlan is more than likely beyond old enough to have a grown daughter, despite still looking somewhat young. However, because the show never makes this clear to people who didn't watch the stream or aren't familiar with DnD, Kaylie's whole storyline is more confused than it should be.
Similarly, what's the deal with the Raven Queen's temple in Westruun? Is she special to this town in particular? Does every god of Exandria have a temple in this town? What's the deal?
In the stream, the town had a temple ward, which boasted multiple religious sites dedicated to various gods. This was where Vax originally went to commune with the Raven Queen, but because the show takes liberties with the stream events and it's never established in this episode, we don't know if that's the case here.
I want to know!!
Dr. Dranzel
Originally Scanlan had traveled with Dr. Dranzel's troupe after losing his only family. Here, they elected that the two had no connection to each other, and while I respect that change, I don't understand their reasoning.
Sam said on the watch-along that they eschewed the original connection because it would've taken attention away from Kaylie when we first met her, as we meet both her and the troupe together.
That explanation...feels like throwing the baby out with the bathwater, frankly. Again, I respect the choice, but it would've been easy to include that part of Scanlan's backstory and give Kaylie her moment. When she's leaving in this episode, have Scanlan take Dranzel aside, confirm their connection, and ask him to watch after Kaylie. This keeps their relationship, gives Kaylie her moment, gives Scanlan a little depth, and establishes the troupe is, while not malicious, definitely sketchy in some way if they try to keep the knowledge of who knows who on the down low.
Nitpicks
I'm unsure how I feel about Scanlan being trussed up during his confrontation with Kaylie. It adds cringe-inducing sleaze, for sure. On the other hand, it meant more when Scanlan refused to fight back in the original because he was free and capable of doing so. It doesn't mean much for him to not try to resist when he physically can't. Similarly, in the original, Kaylie was seeking a duel. Feels like it gives her more if she was giving him the chance to fight back.
~*~
This is probably just a me thing, as I saw a few reactors get this right away, but I would've had the shot of the ruined temple be from over Vax's shoulder. That makes it clear what we see is the temple he just stepped out of. I thought it was a different shot of the outside at first.
~*~
They could've set up the sword better. In the original, the item Scanlan and Vax used to try to hold down the dragon was called the "Immovable Rod"; it did...about what you'd expect. They couldn't use that name because of copywrite, but since the sword doesn't have a name that spells out what it does, it's hard to see why Scanlan thought it would be enough to hold down the dragon. A throwaway line from him about "Oh, I recognize this enchantment! It can hold down such-and-such pounds of weight!" would've clarified things for the audience.
~*~
Having Vax yell "What the hell do you want from me!?" right after we very clearly hear the dead begging him to usher them into the great beyond makes for an unintentionally awkward juxtaposition.
~*~
I don't really get the small convo Vax and Scanlan have before they enter the dragon. Everybody's out there on the field fighting the dragon; why is it weird that Scanlan is too? Feels like a really contrived lead-in to the "you win" bit. Also, we could've had a little more variety in terms of Umbrasyl's lines.
And that's it for the penultimate episode. Only one more to go this season.

⚠️May get angsty in later chapters, but for the most part, nothing too triggering, just in case there will be TW above every chapter.⚠️
⚠️ READ ME! ⚠️
This work is an Age regression fic. So there will be things such as: Diapers, pacifiers, cribs, bottles, exc.
(Tbh, I'm not 100% sure what this'll have.)
It'll be mostly fluff/comfort.
But it will also have:
Cursing, mentioning abuse, trauma, substance use, and talking about mental illness.
Mind the Trigger warnings at the beginning.
🧸Age regression itself is not sexual, it's a SFW coping mechanism and it's valid Af. 💖❤️🩹
"Have you heard from the news? Clouds are falling from the sky, and everything that's pink is now blue?" -Little space, Sxye.
~~~Stolas and Blitzø:~~~
At the alter Blitzø and Stolas stood.
They gazed into each other's eyes, smiling.
Stolas held a beautiful bouquet he had borrowed, and Blitzø was wearing a beautiful blue boutonniere.
They smiled at the realization that their old lives would transform into their new life together.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness this man and this man in holy macaroni."
"Holy what?" Stolas whispers.
No one acknowledged the question "Do you take this man to be your lovely wedding husband?"
"Um, yes. Yes, I do." Stolas says.
"And do you take this man to be YOUR lovely wedding husband?"
"I don't think you're saying that right." Stolas says.
Blitzø shushed him. "I do too."
"I now pronouns you, husband and husband! You may kiss the-"
"Wait- stop!" Someone yells in the crowd.
Audible gasps fill the room as a green frog runs into the room.
"What the..?" Blitzø asks.
"You can't marry him! I love him!" The frog says.
"Stolas!" Blitzø scolds. "He can't say that!"
"Why not?" Stolas asks, holding a toy frog in his hand.
"Because he's already in love." Blitzø explains. "Remember? He married the rooster last week!"
"Ohh right." Stolas says. "Sorry, I forgot."
"Yeah, so...the snake can interrupt instead." Blitzø compromised, handing Stolas a snake stuffed animal.
"Okay." Stolas says happily. "Stop! I love him!" Stolas shouts, playing with the snake plushie now.
Another gasp fill the room as the snake declares his love Blitzø's toy dinosaur.
"Snakey?!" Blitzø gasps.
"I love you, Dino. Please don't marry the Imp!" The snake says.
"Snakey, I can't love you anymore." Blitzø says.
"But...why not? I always loved you!" Mr snake says.
"Cuz, I'm marrying the Imp now." The dinosaur says.
"Marry me instead please?" Snakey asks politely.
"Nah." Blitzø said.
"...please?" Snakey asks again.
"No thank you. I'm good." Blitzø says.
"Oh...okay...well...I guess you'll die then." Snakey said casually.
"Wait, what!?" The Imp and dinosaur ask.
"Pew!" The snake pulls out a water gun.
"Nooo!!!" Stolas's imp plush shouts.
"I'll save you, honey!" Blitzø says, throwing the dinosaur in front of the defenseless imp.
Both Stolas and Blitzø laughed.
~~~~~~
Okay, it wasn't a real wedding. They were marrying Blitzø's stuffed dinosaur and Stolas's stuffed imp.
Stolas and Blitzø love marrying their stuffed animals to each other when they were regressed; it makes them happy.
So, for some context: let's go back a little to see what exactly is going on here...
~~~Past, A year ago:~~~
"Prince Stolas?"
Stolas started choking on his drink, coughing and heaving, but then assured everyone who might've cared: "I'm fine!"
"We caught this nasty imp trying to sneak into your chambers, what should we do with him?" One of the hellhounds asked, not worrying at all about Stolas.
"Into my chambers, really? Oh, well. That is, concerning." Stolas clears his throat. "Just leave him to me, I will handle him accordingly." He smiles.
The two Hellhounds shrug and drop Blitzø on the hard ground.
"Follow me, Imp." Stolas orders, leading Blitzø through the castle.
With limited options, Blitzø listened and followed the bird as told.
They pass by a hallway and Blitzø looks at the pictures on the wall.
There was a picture of young Stolas, and his weirdo father who still gave Blitzø a strange feeling just by the picture alone.
Blitzø cringes, not one of his fond childhood memories.
Then, a picture of Stolas and what appears to be his wife...? But, he looks miserable. How can he be so rich, married, and be so miserable?
Not his business, he supposed, it's not like he knew Stolas.
Then, a picture of Stolas with a kid...
Huh. Good for him. He has a kid.
He looked happy there at least. He looks miserable in the other pictures,
Blitzø thinks about his own daughter at home... he has to talk himself out of this! "Look, I didn't mean to interrupt your- whatever- party? I was just trying to-"
"Don't bother with excuses, I know why you were here." Stolas says.
"You do?" Blitzø cringes, regretting his decision for a moment as Stolas closed the door, trapping them both in Stolas's bedroom.
"Yes, you are here to ravish me, weren't you?" Stolas asks dramatically, posing himself against the door.
"Uhhhhhh, you?" Blitzø asks.
"Why else would you be breaking into my room?" He jokes. "You could've asked to visit you know, it's been a long time, but I have a very good memory." He smiles cutely and claps his hands so the room's candles lit up.
"Oh, yeah." Blitzø laughs, not really expecting Stolas to remember him. Suddenly, catching his eye was the book he was after, behind Stolas at the top of his bookshelf.
He needs that fucking book!
He leaned in closer, playing along with Stolas's little game. "Well, you know, I figured since you're a prince and all it might just be easier to scale the walls and slip on in." Blitzø says. "Certainly is easier than going through your fucking staff..."He mumbles.
"One would think you might be here for nefarious reasons, if you are sneaking in during the cover of night." Stolas says.
Blitzø was a little confused...since it's still the daytime. But he figured playing along would be better. "Well, I wanted to crash the party, and it's always more fun you know to make an entrance!" Blitzø lies.
Stolas chuckles. "I recall how you enjoy making an entrance!" They walk to the couch in Stolas's room and sit down together. "So, over two decades since I last saw you. Are you still a circus clown?"
"Oh no, not anymore. I kill people now." Blitzø says.
"Oh dear, how afraid should I be?" Stolas asks.
"Well...I mean..." Blitzø looks at something behind Stolas that made him look anxious.
Stolas looks at him confused.
"Uh- how afraid do you wanna be?" ~ Blitzø asks seductively, getting closer to Stolas and taking his hand.
Stolas stepped back. "Uhm, well..." he looks behind him reluctantly, not sure where exactly Blitzø was going with this when...
He looks back at Blitzø confused. "Were you trying to steal from me?" Stolas asks.
"Uhh...what?" Blitzø wasn't sure how to answer that.
Stolas raises an eyebrow and hums. "Wouldn't be the first time," he crosses his arms, "now would it?"
Blitzø was now the nervous one. "No no, I was definitely here because you're...uh, cute?" He suggested.
"Mhm." Stolas tilts his head. "So, you aren't after...this?" Stolas asks, using magic to grab his grimoire.
Blitzø lies. "Nope, just...you. You fucking hot bird, you."
"Look- I'm sorry...what's your name again?" Stolas asks. "It's like glitzo? Or something, right?"
"It's Blitzø..." he says, crossing his arms.
"Blitzø? Didn't it have an O in it before?" Stolas asked. "Like, a clown name? I distinctly remember you having a-"
Blitzø rolls his eyes, his tail swinging back and forth in irritation. "Well, not anymore. It's silent now."
Stolas nods. "Alright...Blitzø. As much as I think you're...very...alluring. I doubt very much you feel the same way about me. I have very fond memories of us as kids, and I wouldn't enjoy seeing you get arrested. So, if I promise not to kill, arrest, or hurt you in any way, will you please just be honest with me?" He asks. "I'm sick of the lies and manipulation."
Blitzø hesitates. "Well..."
Stolas raises his eyebrows. "Well?"
"Okay, fine! I honestly can't believe I'm actually telling you this shit...but, I need to access the human world." Blitzø says. "And I remembered when we were kids you told me about the book, I thought I could maybe use it..." he admits.
"You listened?" Stolas asks, his pupils dialating.
Blitzø shrugs. "Yeah, course I did. It was interesting."
Stolas couldn't help but smile for a moment, someone actually found something he said interesting? "And you even remembered?" He asks. "How could I forget being sold as a playmate and taken to a castle with the strangest kid in history?" Blitzø asks. Stolas's smile dropped. "Oh...right. But, why do you need access to the human world anyway?" He asks.
"I don't expect you to understand." Blitzø says, rolling his eyes. "My company hasn't been doing so hot lately, we can't get enough kills in to pay for rent, and I can't even afford to pay my employees what I owe them...so, I had an idea. No one is more desperate for vengeance than sinners." He says.
"So, your plan is to kill the living as revenge for the sinners?" Stolas asks.
Blitzø nods. "Yeah. There's a lot of bitter people out there." Blitzø says. "We could make millions with this idea."
"Hm. Interesting." Stolas says. "Well, I'd love to help you, Blitzø. But, this book is very...very...important. I can't just let you have it." He explains.
"I get it. Look- I'll just show myself out." Blitzø says. "Thanks, Stolas." He says.
"For what?" Stolas asks.
"For not killing me." Blitzø says. "I have a daughter at home, though I doubt she'd really notice, eventually she'd run out of food." He jokes.
Stolas's eyes widen. "Blitzø, wait-!"
Blitzø sighs, then turns around. "What?"
Stolas thinks about it. "Okay...you can BORROW my book for your business, but there has to be some ground rules." He says.
Blitzø raises an eyebrow in intrigue. "Okay...?"
"I need you to be careful with it." Stolas says. "It's very important. It's not a toy!" He says. "Don't use any spells you don't recognize."
"Okay." Blitzø says.
"And I need you to return the book every full moon so I can continue my duties." Stolas says.
"Fair enough." Blitzø nods.
"And, I need your phone number." Stolas says.
Blitzø's eyes widen, then he smirks. "Really? Wow, Stolas. Smooth. Didn't know you had it in you-"
Stolas panics. "Wait! No! No no no no...that's not what I- I-I just-"
Blitzø smirks, loving seeing a royal so flustered.
Stolas takes a breather. "I'm married... I just want to be able to contact you in case I need my book back, or something happens!" Stolas says flustered. He rubs his arm anxiously.
"And what exactly do you get out of this deal?" Blitzø asks.
Stolas shakes his head. "I'm a father too. I know it's not always easy." Stolas says. "I dont wabt anything from you except... well," he suggests. "If...you'd like, I mean. We could hang out sometime? We seemed to get along fine as kids... you were the only real friend I had. The only honest one, even if you were a bit...critical and rude and stole from me. I thought about you a lot, and I... I know it sounds absolutely pathetic! But, I could really use a friend right now, my life's a mess!" Stolas says, exasperated.
Blitzø sighs. "I hear ya... my life ain't exactly perfect."
Stolas smiles. "Maybe we can help each other...what do say?" Stolas asks, holding out the book to Blitzø.
Blitzø looks at the book, then up at Stolas...
Stolas smiles.
Blitzø takes it....then pulls Stolas's arm closer with his other hand.
Stolas hoots in surprise as Blitzø grabs a red marker from his jacket and writes his number in Stolas's hand.
"I'll see you on the full moon, Stolas." Blitzø says.
Stolas smiled as Blitzø left as discreetly as possible.
He had a friend!
Things only could get better from here!
Note
My cat has recently started getting nasty brown gunk/earwax(?) in only one of his ears and I'm not sure what to do. I don't have the money to take him to a vet. I can only think of a few things that might've triggered it? A month or so ago I started feeding him small portions of wet food as a treat and about a week or so ago I started feeding him a different kind of treat brand since it was cheaper. Anything I can do to help my baby?
Unfortunately a vet is really the best bet. Brown earwax buildup can be caused by lots of things, from mites, to bacterial infection, to yeast infection to allergies.
If you suspect it's a food related issue, you can try weaning kitty onto a limited ingredient diet in the mean time while you wait for an opportunity to see a veterinarian, but aside from wiping the outer portion of the ear with a clean soft cloth to remove any external residue there's nothing I can recommend to put into a cats ear, as I'm not a vet.
