i got some #feedback on myself recently which was ridiculously good but also makes me feel like the worlds worst impostor... first my friend's new boyfriend told her that he felt really comfortable with me because I have such a "strong personality" and am so sure of myself that when he was feeling anxious he could always just kind of hide with me and have me as his hashtag safe space when she (his gf) wasn't around & that I was really kind to him (which I find ridiculous because my number one anxiety is that I have no real personality and fear that im boring and unlikeable most of the time & also the event he's referring to was mid at best I was tired and moody and honestly not at my best so to hear this about myself on that particular evening feels made up).

then the same friend told me that im being too nice and kind to people and go out of my way to help them which like. yeah. but I also feel like that's just how we all should be and I don't want to sound like a "ooo I do so much for the others where is my medal" like i don't do this out of some goodness or kindness of my heart (assuming that that's something that actually exists? i truly do not understand how personality works) i do it because i assume that that's how things should be done and feel like a failure if i dont. anyways im not posting this to have people agree with any of this, im just truly baffled that anyone said something like this. because. i dont understand how these things work.

i’m not good with tips or writing tbh, like one day I just started this blog and started writing and now I’m here I guess 😭 (funfact i acc ran an IT fanfiction blog back when I was like 11 this is not my proudest moment I shouldn’t have even been on this app)

i’m a big fan of english literature and always have been, im taking higher english next year for s5 and I’ve learned quite a bit tbh that I think can help!

1. my teacher always tells me to not repeat the same words over and over again. like for example :

“character watches s/o walk into the room with their bright smile and bright eyes”

instead, you could say :

“character watches s/o walk into the room with their beaming smile and bright eyes”

personally in my opinion repetition is good for both writing and poetry but using more adapted words can really elevate your writing. but that’s just my opinion on what it does for me and i try my best not to repeat the same words consistently. if you struggle to think of more advanced words you can use google because that’s quite literally what i do but you can also use a thesaurus, they’re quite helpful i used to use them in primary school for writing :)

2. another tip i can think of is using techniques of writing, this also goes for poetry too (as im currently having to study for my english exam on poetry). there’s a few techniques you can use in writing fanfiction such as

- metaphors (an implied comparison eg. “my mum has a heart of gold” - meaning my mum is a kind hearted woman. she is)

- similes (similar to a metaphor but it’s a direct comparison, typically used in the forms of “like a” or “as” eg. “she was as cold as ice” - meaning that her personality and demeanour is rather cold and stern.)

- personification (similar to a metaphor also but this connects human characteristics such as personalities or emotions to a non living thing eg. “the trees danced in the wind” - trees cant dance like a human can, but the way they bristle in the wind can make it seem like they’re dancing)

i know some of these people would’ve already heard about but i thought I’d add in the examples and explanations just to clarify it for people who are confused and want to learn about it

this isn’t a MUST you have to include in your writing or anything but these are just tips on ways you can elevate your writing and personification is specifically good for describing scenery so the reader can feel more engaged within the story :). these are only a few of the techniques i use so if you wish to hear about more please do feel free to shoot me an ask.

3. one last tip that comes from me in my experience of writing is actually educating yourself by reading some writings you’re interested in. one thing I’ve learned about writing is that you can gain experience by becoming influenced by other people’s writings on any part of the internet. not like plagiarism of course but i mean you can become inspired by the way they write and adapt your own writing style.

i’ve learned so much from my beautiful and amazing moots and they’re all just so talented, im forever grateful and proud for each and one of them :)

I. CANT BELIEVE. I FORGOT TO POST DARUNIAS FINISHED REDESIGN ON HERE. I DONT SEE IT ON THE BLOG ALREADY SO I MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN...... AUGH....

ANYWAYS sob here is Darunia's official redesign for the OOT rewrite full notes and thought process below the cut:

All my goron designs involve giving them less cartoonish and caricature-like features and proportions, so of course that was the first thing I tackled here. I made him very square-and-solid looking. I wanted him to have an appearance that read both as very dignified and also very personable. One should be able to tell at a glance that he is someone who commands a great deal of respect and is worthy of that respect, while also being approachable and trustworthy. Simultaneously larger than life and down to earth. His expression is stern, but with an undertone of warmth. In the original game, Darunia seemed to me like a character who wasn't really meant to be taken seriously, but for our version we want to give the opposite impression. When Darunia speaks, you will listen. I intend for him to be a character that commands respect both from the other characters around him and from the audience as well.

Aside from that, his defining characteristics remain, especially his beard and hair which are what make his silhouette most easily distinguishable. Rather than changing very much I mostly just added more, like his accessories, clothes and tattoos. Many people in the past have pointed out that the gorons, in oot especially, have many elements that appear to be based off various cultures from across the African continent, but again, especially in oot, that was done rather insensitively. So I also decided to look to the west African region in particular for some inspiration for my Darunia redesign. I ended up using mostly references from Ghana after searching through a few different sources, and the traditional clothing there influenced how I dressed Darunia, like with the brightly coloured and patterned cloth of his waist-wrap thing and his sandals-- which from now on I have decided to draw all gorons wearing sandals. The cloth Darunia wears is not fully patterned like those from Ghana since I played around with a few different patterns before settling on this, but in the future I may try drawing something more 1-1.

His tattoos are also based off the Adinkra symbols. Researching the Adinkra symbols was very exciting and interesting for me, and there were many that were perfectly suited for the things I had planned. I didn't want to just copy them directly, so I made slightly altered versions of some of the symbols with their original meanings. My hope is that anyone familiar with the Adinkra symbols would easily recognize them as the source, and be able to tell which fantasy versions are derived from which real ones, with or without the meaning listed alongside it. The ones I referenced for Darunia specifically were the Dwennimmen, meaning humility and strength, the Akoben meaning vigilance and wariness-- which is depicted on his necklace-- the Nkonsonkonson meaning unity, or brotherhood, and the Aya meaning endurance and resourcefulness. The anvil symbol, the one representing Temna/creation/ingenuity, is one I invented imitating the existing symbols' style. I chose these for their meanings, which I feel represent Darunia's character well, and seem like the kinds of things he would value and choose for himself to wear.

The red tattoo sleeve framing the goron ruby is meant to represent streams of lava flowing down the mountainside. This one single element gave me more grief than any other part of the redesign, I went though so many drafts of just that one tattoo and it was what caused this redesign to take so long! Though now that I have emerged victorious from the bloodstained battlefield (clip studio paint), I am very pleased with the final result!

Also, you may notice that the ring on his left thumb looks remarkably like the game's power bracelet. That's because it is the power bracelet!                 was it due to the fact that he had thrown many challenges her way in regards to what truth and lies she could tell apart ? the DECEPTIVE TRUTH and honest lies she humored him and this curiosity of his. the focus that shifted to the POWER she had lying underneath her veins. the golden energy hummed quietly as she kept her gaze locked to his. no traces of lies, this time. it wasn't even half-truth. he was being honest. she didn't flinch away as his hand reached out to play with her dark locks. her head canted slightly.

                " you're not sure if it's a good thing or not ? do you mean my ability or the fact that you're curious about it ? " perhaps both, but she wasn't too pressed to know the ANSWER to that question. curiosity was, after all, a double-edged sword, but given his personality and his penchant for TAKING RISKS, she couldn't really blame him. back to his original inquiry, and yinyue actually took a moment to ponder it. she made no effort to HIDE the fact that she was considering what would be a good compensation to it. the true extent of being a VESSEL OF SOUND was still unknown, but there were areas she could potentially show him. she knew he had seen her absorb a small echo before, and her brief mention of the term vessel of sound must've piqued his interest. after a moment of silence, she finally spoke.

                " tell me something about you. " the words hung in the air for a moment longer, before she intercepted his train of thoughts. " before you say anything — no, i do not mean a secret that would be considered useful in a transaction or business sense, nor a kind of information that is useful during negotiation. " she knew how his mind works when it comes to measurement of value or the PRICE of things. lies, leverages, advantages, manipulations, they were all fair games in his mind. that wasn't what she wanted, however.

                " i know you deem an information or a secret to be valuable depending on what you could get out of it. but those type of secret would be worthless to me as i don't plan to use it against you. " which she didn't. what he viewed as priceless to him could be worth nothing to her. amber orbs were kept locked to his dual-colored hues all throughout her explanation. she said it so matter-of-factly like she was speaking about something so obvious. as usual, no hint of lies. she had no reasons to, after all. why would she plan to use anything against him ?

                " i don't need a leverage on you, i want one truth about you that'd be useless in deal striking but useful if i want to know about the person i'm looking at. this is going to be a very long-winded ask but I've been questioning something for a long amount of time:

i had my voice drop significantly around the time most guys in school did too, around 12-14. i found old recordings of me talking and singing and its a completely different voice, more high pitched. as far as i can remember, i didnt have clitomegaly but it was larger and genuienly like a small penis. i also had a lot of body hair but no facial hair afaik, and super oily skin and acne that wasnt caused by what i ate . i had super heavy painful periods though that sometimes left me unable to function at all and brought me into the ER once and got me declared anemic, just to elaborate on how bad it was.

i spoke in past tense because i'm transitioning and have been getting testosterone every 3 months for 2 years now. i did notice i responded really fast to the first dose already, i almost immediately grew facial hair before my second dose and had my voice drop even more, outside of the usual clinical curve of change. while i know it depends on the person, it was very fast. i also cant shake that it might be PCOS since i wouldnt know if there is a spectrum to hyperandrogenism that would leave you still having heavy periods while also experiencing those changes. i haven't had my period ever since starting testosterone so i wouldnt know what would still be visible down there if i'd have a gynecologist take a look at it.

i know youre not a professional, but do you know off the top if there are any intersex conditions that.. well.. would describe what i could probably look into that couldve been there already pre-transition or at least could list off some intersex conditions that dont involve having internal testes or "hidden male sex characteristics" since i have had ultrasounds in my lower abdominal area a few times and i wouldve probably been told about it.

Thank you so much for sending this in. First off, I completely understand your struggle with questioning being intersex after starting testosterone. I didn't start to question my past experiences with my sex and sex characteristics until after I had started testosterone. This made figuring out if I was intersex even more difficult. Especially because, even if I was intersex, my outward intersex symptoms became "normal" for any FTM/trans+ person on testosterone.

What you describes already sounds like hyperandrogenism. Hyperandrogenism is, in and of itself, an inherently intersex experience. You do not need a specific diagnosis that has hyperandrogenism as a "symptom" nor do you need to have diagnosed hyperandrogenism in order to say you have it. Even if you are now on testosterone HRT, which makes hyperandrogenism seem more typical/"normal" for your body, that doesn't negate that it would be something your body still inherently has.

Also, I'm unsure if you mean, "I'm getting my testosterone prescription filled up every three months and am taking it for a different period of time" or, "I'm taking an injection or other form of testosterone every three months, and only every three months". If it's the latter/the second one, it very very much only further makes it seem as if you have hyperandrogenism or a variation in how your body processes testosterone. Your responses on testosterone are not typical for perisex individuals. Also, if you are on it that often because of a doctor recommendation and not a personal choice, that makes hyperandrogenism and even stronger likelihood because T is often taken less often or in lower doses for those who have hyperandrogenism but are trans+.

Also, I would like to say, it isn't entirely uncommon for intersex people who have something like internal testes to just...not be told about it. Even if the doctor(s) know. This is something often kept hidden from intersex people and many doctors will proceed to "treat" the patient (almost always unnecessarily) for their internal testes without explaining why they are doing that. I'm not saying that this is your experience, and many doctors would tell a patient, but it's important to just keep in mind that, unfortunately, doctors can suck.

Moving on from what you've described that seem like strong signs of hyperandrogenism, the fact that your genitalia are at all ambiguous also means that the intersex label is open for you to use. No one needs a specific diagnosis or anything like that to be welcome to use the label. The clitoris and penis are often more similar than people think. One way to imagine it is that the clitoris and penis are on a sliding scale, like in a character creation model, where you maybe slide the hair from long to short, or the body type from smaller to larger. The clitoris often does look much more like a penis when clitoromegaly is present. Having an ambiguous erectile structure is inherently intersex. Your genitalia might not be able to be classified as a clitoris or a penis, or you might not be comfortable as classifying it as exclusively either of those, or either of those at all. Having ambiguous genitalia is also a sign of hyperandrogenism in general, and/or it can be something that someone is just born into. In some cases for people, their clitoromegaly isn't developed until they grow older and their hyperandrogenism becomes present, as hyperandrogenism can be very late in presentation.

If you want specific diagnosed things that might be what you have, the most likely candidates to me are PCOS, like you said, or NCAH. However, it's important to note that bodies are medically messy. They can't always easily fall into categories. Despite the "C" standing for cystic in PCOS, people can have PCOS without cysts. You could have something like NCAH and endometriosis. Or you could have no specifically diagnosed intersex variation, but also experience certain things that cause painful periods. The most likely causes for your period pains are probably PCOS or endometriosis. Dysmenorrhea is also just a general term for abnormally or life-impacting painful periods.

Also, it's common for hyperandrogenism to stop or lessen periods. Same with testosterone HRT. But neither of those inherently stop them from happening. Some people on testosterone HRT can be on it for years at a high dose and still get periods.

So, basically, it sounds definite to me that you have hyperandrogenism and clitormegaly/ambiguous genitalia. You also have had abnormal/painful experiences with your periods, which is often comorbid with intersex variations.

You can definitely be intersex without any "hidden" things inside your body. You can also be intersex without a specific diagnosis. You know your body best, and in a case like yours, it is up to your self-determination if you label as or consider yourself intersex. You have a place in this community and in this experience no matter what. I wish you love on your intersex journey 💛💜💛!

i was walking to potions class when someone bumps into me - jihoon. the strong smell of his cologne hanging in the air. god, that smell. jihoon gives me a glare like it was my fault when he was the one who walked into me. "watch where you're going", i mumble. he just looks me up and down and walks off. i hated him so much. okay maybe hate was too strong a word but he was just so annoying at times and i hated that i couldn't stop thinking about all the annoying things he does. the scent of his cologne is still lingering as i walk to class. i enter class and turns out all the seats are taken, and the only empty seat is next to jihoon - ugh. i ball my fists, take a deep breathe and walk towards him, placing my books on the table next to him, taking a seat. he doesn't even spare me a glance.

today's potion class was about amortentia. it's a powerful love potion and it smells different to each person, according to what attracts them. that part always fascinated me, how it smelt different and unique to each person. i wonder how it would smell to me.

the potion is on the table in front of us, the teacher putting us in pairs to test and it out and see what it smelt like. i internally groaned at being paired with jihoon. i glanced at him, only for him to quickly look down. had he just been looking at me? i shake that thought off and watch as the steam rises from the potion in its characteristic spirals.

i'm looking at y/n as they smell the potion, and after a few moments, her eyes go wide, like she's realized something and her eyes find mine before looking back down. i watch as she hastily grabs her pencil as she writes down something. i wonder what she smelt. '

you might think i don't like her but it's quite the opposite actually. she's cute and charming in a way and whenever i get close to her or bump into her, it's like i don't know what to say or do, hence i just look at her and walk away. and now it's become common knowledge that we're enemies, that we don't like each other, which is not true - at least on my part, because what if she actually doesn't like me?

it's my turn and i take a step toward her and her potion. i take a breath and smell the pearly sheer-looking potion and close my eyes. i smell something spiced, like cinnamon, and strawberries. im surprised strawberries made it on the list since i don't really eat them often. i walk towards my book and note down the scents, wracking my brain wondering why i smelt strawberries. i didn't know how i was attracted to that smell to be honest, how odd.

class is over and we shuffle out, heading for lunch. i sit down when someone takes the seat next to me. it's y/n.

"jihoon", she says, clearing her throat and that's when i see a bowl of strawberries in her plate. of course. that's why i smelt strawberries from the potion - because of y/n. she's always eating them. but then does this mean i was attracted to her? wait...does this mean i like her?

"what did you smell from my potion", y/n asks, mumbling about how she was really curious to know and she looks at me, waiting for an answer.

"um, i smelt cinnamon and strawberries", i say.

"strawberries? interesting", she say, taking one of the strawberries from her bowl and biting in, the sweetness of the fruit wafting into the air. and it's when she chews she realizes the connection, eyes going slightly wide, making me gulp.

"well what did you smell from my potion", i ask, hoping to distract y/n. she swallows before soflty saying she smelt books and citrus.

"what was the third one", i ask, knowing she didn't tell me one.

"what do you mean?", she asks. "you wrote down three smells, i saw you", i say.

"god, you're keeping tabs on me now?", y/n says annoyed and flustered.

"it...it was nothing", she says, not letting up.

"come on, i told you, i won't judge", i add.

it was your stupid cologne okay", she says with her eyes closed, afraid to see my reaction but i only bite my lip as i try not to smile.

she quickly tells me about how she's late for class and speeds walks out of my sight while i'm left there amused by this new information.

fuck i think about this a lot thank you for asking the best question possible..

arakis older work was so tremendously influenced by his fav stuff that it was indistinguishable from fist of the north star which i havent gotten into and only learned about this very recently ago..which was so surprising...!!!!! Because obviously even though things inspire him i attributed those very specific faces and visual identity overall to mainly JOJO?! i thought this was just araki lol. but no. he referenced so heavilyits beautiful. its realy funny.

You could say that right now, the way his art is right now, cannot be linked in the same way so directly to ..other stuff..the same way it was decades ago with fist of the north star ETC.......? unless theres something right now that looks exactly like arakis art that i don't know of.. this is not worded the way i mean it, but, its the best i can do: right now, what araki is doing, is very "his"

still, even if jojo carries its influences so OPENLY and EVERYWHERE and so explicitly i cant even say that older jojo is..not araki.....less araki..whatever..because its..its jojo and its just so........u..i cant even list off characteristics because of how baffling and immense jojo is and indescribable, you know, the JOJOness, what we understand as JOJO, and its CHARM................ it's the way he does it what we are all in love with, saw someone once say that their interest in jojo is mostly metatextual rather than, the story itself, even if that is also very much there..

Araki does take significant turns mid-creation, A LOT, some known ones are..well, the part 4 change, the way characters at the beginning and end of a part may look very different in ways..like bruno lol.. (also beautiful how he figures out character designs directly while making manga changing little things from panel to panel as the characters 'Solidify'. They are incredibly real, and the way he speaks about the lack of control he has over them is fascinating), when he became really in love with those heart shapes in part 3, the increase in bigger, detailed panels of characters faces around SBR......

all that said, even though the extremes look nothing alike , say, if you compare phantom blood to jojolands right now visually, when read, it's a lot more gradual than we think, no? look at his art for the parts in order and,it just makes complete sense, the way it developed, and what it arrived to.

Personally, i'm so madly in love with the older stuff, phantom blood, battle tendency , i love the baffling ridiculous muscle , their anger , their hardened faces, his fascination with this, facial wrinkles, this power , ill never be able to put it into works , it's so..smoke and fire, and even though jojo will always be about this , phantom blood is very especially "basic" or 'symbolic" , archetypical (in a deeply CONSCIOUS and INTENTIONAL way, that makes sense as the beginning of a story.)

So i just love it. It fills me with power.

His recent work,i love it too, and i am happy to see where it has come to...... I am so curious about his personal self, i cant help this, the new faces are so......relaxed, everyone has relaxed their face muscles, his compositions have always been so strange, his approach to the relationship between figure&background. I cant help but wonder where his mind is now for his to look this way.

oh boy oh boy oh boy am i here to tell you how much that was not rhetorical.

i guess the best place to start wpuld be simply with HR Giger and his rise to fame with his biomechanical artwork. Biomech, as it sounds, is the combination of organics and mechanics, most often represented with human/animal anatomy where joints are replaces with gears and pistons, but infused with muscles and tendons. Gigers art was particularly inspired by Salvador Dali, HP Lovecraft, and Alfred Kubin

Giger was enlisted to the design set by Ridley after he viewed Giger "Necronimicon IV", for which the Xenomorph was designed after.

I always thought the idea of making (usually cis) men uncomfortable via graphic, fictional representations of rape was SUCH a good change of pace. It's refreshing, not just in terms of "flipping the script", but the way it's presented is often beautiful, and grotesque.

I remember watched the "horror" (read: fetish) movie "Don't Breathe" with my FATHER not knowing the plot twist (because that's the point of watching the damn movie...) It made me so fucking uncomfortable. It's just a fetish film, honestly. It handles extreme, very real events with no grace or creative liberty. It's horrible.

ANYWAY! Back to Aliens, I think that's also why I fucking LOVE the hive system the Xenomorphs work in. I know some people don't enjoy these terrifying, eldritch organisms being "reduced" to something so earthly as a hive system, but let's be honest, it's effective way to reproduce/gain numbers, and it's still just as scary.

That's the reason I adore the QUEEN herself. Her design is powerful, and elaborate. She sure as hell plays and looks the roll of queen. She's the epicenter of the species who commands all those under her as she "births" more of the monstrosities to destroy worlds in her children's wake. She's the only feminine being binding the hive together into an organized destructive force, and she doesn't even need a male to fertilize the eggs. (<- also a detail I really like.) She's quite literally an evil girl boss LMAO I love her.

These are the main reasons (and I'm sure there's more,) as to why I love HR Giger's original art work, and how it was shown in the first two movies, then later beautifully presented again in Prometheus 2012. (<- somebody please be obsessed with the Engineers with me, I love them, and need to bang one asap LMAO)

It's an amazing example of art that's meant to "comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable."

Both of them have bits about them that represent different parts of the player character.

Calem: I made him selectively mute because he's meant to represent the main player character who doesn't have a lot of dialogue. He will talk when he feels like it and that's mostly with the friend group, Sycamore, His mother, or if he feels its absolutely necessary. He mainly uses sign language and occasionally the holocaster/a notepad if he's not speaking with someone who knows sign. His friends and Sycamore learned sign to make conversations more inclusive for him.

I gave him the female excusive nickname C-Kins because honestly the only gendered nick name is Lady and this is my house. The group started calling him Seaking because C-Kins sounded like Seaking if said fast enough. He loves the nickname.

He's the son of Grace. Which contrasts to the Serena usually being her daughter (anime/manga). He actually enjoys rhyhorn racing and doesnt mind his mom teaching him. Him being selected to be a dex holder was his mothers idea to get him out of the house a bit and Sycamore was happy to include him. He picked Froakie as a starter.

His journey wasn't about being the best trainer but more so about exploration. He likes helping Shauna with her scrapbook and stopping to take it all in. He did obtain the 8 badges but never really beat the league because well it was never on his to do list. Even so he still gave Serena a challenge.

The feather in his hair is a molted feather from his mothers Fletchling. It makes him feel close to home as he travels.

Serena: She's Meant to represent the main rival but has some Player characteristics to her. Shes the one with the mega ring and beat the Champion. Unlike in the anime and manga she's the daughter of the 'amazing trainers' mentioned by Shauna. Serena loves training to the point she's often sunburnt from staying out doing so and forgetting to use sunscreen. Most people assumed her passion is because her parents pressured her but that's false. Her starter was Chespin. and she has the Battle Chateau title of Marchioness.

Out of the friend group she's the natural leader. Despite having a fiery nature to her she's the coolest under pressure and tends to step in to be the voice of reason when situations get tense. Part of training is patience and quick decision making and since battling is second nature to her it carries over into other parts of her life. Not to say she's never acted impulsively. The team flare situation was a bunch of quick decisions some of which were impulsive or heavily influenced by emotion. She tends to keep Shauna and Tierno (the most emotionally driven people in the group) from acting based on feelings if it would be detrimental to them. She knows your heart is in the right place but you cant help anyone if you get hurt by not having a plan. She knows youre upset but this argument isn't going to solve the problem. And yet in situations like Trevor's mom or Team Flare all that's thrown out the window and she's also acting on emotion and adrenaline.

She got the nickname of S- Meister (its my house gendered nicknames don't exist anymore brought to you by nonbinary gang/lh). Tierno gave it to her because of her skills as a trainer. But Shauna calls her Rena/Rina. She enjoys participating in her friends passions so they have a reason to push themselves further. Trevor likes dex battles? ok! lets go fishing to see who can catch the most individual water pokemon. Tierno likes dance? Cool! lets make a pair choreography! Shauna likes scrapbooking and writing journals about her journey? Time to make as many memories together as possible! Calem likes Ryhorn racing? Even if its casual shes happy to learn from him to give him a bit of friendly competition.
