🫧My experience being friends with the Moon signs 🫧

-Please remember that this is not a reflection of everyone with said placement. The behaviors of a single asshole aren't that of the many (sometimes). Also, I don't/didn't have friends with all Moons. Some would have one person or no specific person, and rather so, I'll be giving general observations.

🫧Taurus Moon🫧

Friend #1: Kind, loving, generous, thoughtful, quiet, slow, and internalizes everything. She is one of my closest friends ever. She is practically the father figure of the group, helping everyone out, protecting them, advocating, giving advice, and making sure that they're set and good. Picky with her friends, many of them are people she has known since childhood, and most are her cousins with very few that aren't related to her. Tech and cyber expert. A big animal and nature lover. She loves her space and peace, she is slow to return texts, hates calls, and has the social battery of a sloth. Good singing voice. Loves video games, and is OBSESSED with whatever she has an interest in. Overall, her emotions are well-regulated, however, as an Earth Moon she rationalizes herself and stays pretty chill, even when she needs to pipe up.

Friend #2: Obsessive, jealous, sensual, persistent, indulgent yet very frugal, and stubborn af. A big-time foodie, he does have quite the appetite. Good singing voice too. Always at the clearance section of 'Bath and Body Works'. Thrifty. Got to have three of the same body spray. Candle queen. Trust issues with a very paranoid outlook on things. A bit greedy. Always asking people to buy them things. Very sexual. Cares for his younger sisters and loves his family and friends.

Friend #3: Big-time nerd. Memes are his only talking reference. Great singing voice and can imitate voices very well. Shy extrovert. Loves animations and even studied to be an animator and designer. Hugger. Big animal lover (he legit has what seems like a zoo of pets at home).

Friend #4: Obsessed with history (especially medieval history). All about death and our relationship with mortality. A literal cat. Isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. Goes all in on a subject of interest. Has the same appearance and sense of style as always.

I find Taurus Moons to be very comforting and a joy to be around. They defiantly bring a sense of stability to the relationship, mainly because they're predictable. Not in the "boring" sense but rather that they're people of clear and simple emotions no matter how grand they're in expression, it's pretty clear what they feel, how they feel, and why; Basically, there's no catch or an underbelly to their emotions. Other qualities I have found was that they're pretty aloof, they hate to be intimate with people they barely know, and they actually like fast-paced relationships (only if they really like you), they love to dress simply but chic, and they do have a well known "thing". They always got that "thing" you associate with them and they have it for comfort, like a kid with a blanket or a toy. They also love animals, pastels, the color brown, and karaoke. Hates confrontation and always second guesses their gut feeling. They're also very stubborn and in general, find it much harder to break out of habitual cycles of disconnecting and detachment when shit gets real.

🫧Gemini Moon🫧

Friend #1: Very smart. Great writer and lyricist. Talented musician and singer. Loves people. A bit timid about being in the spotlight. Loves to connect with others over interests, especially art and social issues. Great dresser. Romantic. Bends too fast. Dislikes confrontation but would stand up for a loved one. Bad judge of character (always attracts cheaters and assholes).

Friend #2: Certified L.A.B (lying ass bitch). Says shit for the sake of saying shit. Fake trauma bonding. Leeches off of people. Toxic. Abusive. Always with abusers. Manipulative and hateful. Been around the block. Would do anything for validation. Makes up stories about others to play the role of the victim. (Very likely she has a cluster B personality disorder and no Gemini Moon would claim her.)

I think I have experienced two extremes of this moon, with one being highly and continuously evolving and the other being consistently trash. I am fond of the energy that Gemini has on the moon. There's this innocence that they possess at the core, and it could be the purest and most genuine thing or the biggest fabrication in history. Nonetheless, I do love to be around them and the energy they bring to a relationship. It is always lively, fresh, and new, they'll always come up with something to do with you, and always find a way to spend time and be close to you. They definitely give mixed signals since they tend to be a bit playful, especially in their platonic relationships, and they are very touchy. They're bold and outspoken generally about how they feel. They're less guarded and more likely to share and talk about their problems and their opinions. In contrast, they would rather die than open up about their deep true emotions.

🫧Cancer Moon🫧

Talking about their ex was their favorite pastime. Never misses an important function. Celebrations and social events were considered important. The person that would want to go somewhere but then gets upset because things did not go how they imagined they would. Ruminates on past events and feelings. Vents a lot but also gives you the space to do so. Strong stan on temporary emotions and circumstances. Feels how she feels and doesn't care how others perceive her for it, or what they think about it. Low key ferocious (I live for it though). The only person I know that isn't afraid to publicly voice their boundaries when crossed.

I don't think I met another Cancer Moon besides this person, and we became friends only because we were together in similar classes at uni. Overall, I would say from what I have observed, her relationships with her friends were always great and seemed pretty solid. Romantically though, sis was very challenged, and I don't think it was totally her date's fault. She is an acquired taste and she knows what she wants. Seems very hung up on the idea of meeting expectations and fighting an imaginary clock to get THE perfect life. Good luck with that.

🫧Leo Moon🫧

Creative. Self-motivated. A visionary. The definition of an untamable person. Careful of who they keep company. Lives for an adventure. All about self-expressing, being authentic, and breaking the system. Great philosophical talker. Has true parental instincts. Very comfortable with themselves. Sexual. Great body-mind attunement. Good at mirroring others.

I have heard/read a lot of shit spewing about this placement, but I have to say that I do love to meet them. They're a breath of fresh air. Although I get how they can give an impression of a know it all "I am better than you" life dula, I never detect malice in their approach and usually they're more than respectful if you talk to them about it. They carry the weight of life with such ease, and I envy their perseverance. They definitely love to live life to the fullest. They have their select few friends that they have for a lifetime and like to keep it that way.

🫧Virgo Moon🫧

Never been friends with a Virgo Moon, although not for lack of trying but they themselves are quite apprehensive of bonds with people. They're close to their family and the friends they have they got to know them through school, work, or because they had no other option than to be around you. A molded chaos, and an organized mess. Life runs much faster for them and there's never enough time to finish anything. Despite their tendency to give everything a sense of debilitating urgency, they aren't hypochondriacs. Being strong and well functioning is important to them, as such they take good care of their bodies and surroundings. Oddly spiritual with a devolution to routine rituals. Their emotions are well hidden, they have the hardest exterior to crack. However, they're avid about mental health and wellness. I have also noticed that they tend to lash out, uncharacteristic of them, when they're overwhelmed or feel cornered.

🫧Libra Moon🫧

Friend #1: Very sweet. Bad Bitch™. Always looks good. Best dancer I know. Craves love and relationships. Attracts drama. They are very close to their family. Heavily underestimated. "Legally Blond" but Elle is a Latina that studies medicine. Loves astrology. Takes care of their friendships. Always on the go. Meeting new people all the time.

Friend #2: Pushover. Non-confrontational yet very aggressive. Easily frustrated. Closed minded to different interests. A bit extreme and abrasive. HATES astrology. LOVES the show 'Friends'. Self-critical. Insecure.

A placement that perfectly embodies Libra. Heavenly body and presence. Indecisive as hell. Always stuck in bad relationships. Head is always in the clouds. Romanticizing everything. Walking like they're being filmed. I would say there is an emphasis on companionship and finding "the one" throughout their lives, plus drama is second nature. They might be used to drama so much so that they lose sense of their boundaries and self, in turn making them vulnerable to manipulation and abuse. Their "all about me" era is like no other and is a true turning point in their lives. They seem to thrive when are surrounded by masculinity and masculine people, or overall very competitive and cut-throat environment. They use being underestimated to their advantage.

🫧Scorpio Moon🫧

"Me, myself and I". Paranoid as hell. Big spender. Artistic. Good at portrait sketching. Dresses well. Loves drama. Is the drama. Tone deaf. Low-key ungrateful. An immense sense of self-importance. Passive aggressive. PETTY. Mature exterior with very childish interests. Hypercritical of everything, including themselves.

"Jesus take the wheel" was made as a phrase for dealing with a Scorpio Moon. I get the fragility and being highly emotional and sensitive, that I read about. However, I mostly find them to be disagreeable and pensive. You never know what is the truth, so I assume everything is a lie, and if it's the truth then there must be a catch. They would wake up and the day already sucks. They love to surround themselves with expensive things. It's uncomfortable to be around a placement that seems to believe their own projections and preconceived notions of others rather than getting to know people, or maybe just mind their own business. I would say though that having a Scorpio Moon is probably unpleasant, but I have seen worse happen to other placements with "favorable" moons. And of course, I am talking about the ones that I have met and not every single Scorpio Moon out there.

🫧Sagittarius Moon🫧

Friend #1: Life of the party (actually the life of life). Loves to laugh. Comfortable with everyone. Always hype. Smokes like a chimney. Either brave or stupid. Hype. Frequent dealings with older guys. No chills. Loves to play with friends. Car hangouts over going into places. Funny on the outside, sad on the inside.

Friend #2: Very smart. Tarot mogul. Always a good time. Great convorsaitonlist. A softie. Very sensitive. Expressive.

Friend #3: Would cut a bitch. A true ride or die. A person you want to be on her good side. An unofficial dominatrix. Sweet but feisty. Loves her cat. Always lit. Would do anything for her friends. A good bullshit detector.

A favorite of mine, it is very hard not to like a Sag moon. They're so caring of others and are always making sure that you're good and having a good time. They're the type of person to trust if you're in a bar or a club. I would say that there is a very sad side to them under all that happiness. They're always anxious, which is probably why they don't sleep or eat very well. They also get a lot of migraines. If they open up then they really really really trust you (which is important to them since they can vibe and hang out with anyone but barely trust). They usually have a much calmer Earth sun best friend. I would say that they act much older than their when young but then seem to stay stuck on childish cycles of defensiveness and escapism as they get older.

🫧Capricorn Moon🫧

Friend #1: Artistic and crafty. Resilient. Capable of being very sweet and stern. Good with money, planning, and organizing. Maticolus. Conscious and realistic about their growth and development. Loves animals. Loves to be active in nature. A strong believer in karma.

Friend #2: A true powerhouse. Wonderwoman. My mentor and only real-life role model. An established businesswoman. Rags to riches. Despite having a physical disability she can drive, open pickle jars, do lifts and push up, plus she is a fashion designer that can sew. All of that with one arm. A fighter through and through.

Never had the privilege of being friends with many Capricorn Moons but I have known quite a few and some are very close friends of my family. A rough start in life. They really do take time to peak, however, the glow-up is real. Least spiritual Moon sign. Not egotistical or cold as I read so often. Quite warm and welcoming actually. They might be borderline Darwinists when it comes to the importance of human life and mortality. Believers of hard work and initiative. Lovers and fighters. Silent passion. When young, their relationship with their mother can be described as codependent, and their relationship with their father is strained with a sense of animosity. However, with time the roles seem to slowly reverse. Regardless, their family defenatliy takes precedence throughout their lives. They value respect more than anything else.

🫧Aquarius Moon🫧

Friend #1: Devoted to volunteer work and other people. The "fixer" type. Wants to be needed. Self-help books are all they read. Their interests and style are influenced by the people they're hanging out with. Accidentally (or maybe not) trauma bond with others. Desires to be a leader. Emotions focused. Worries about their reputation a lot. No luck with love. And also in friendship. Many friends, very few that are close, and only one has been consistent so far. Loves to have hangouts with large groups.

Friend #2: Music is their soul. Hippie. Loves acting. "center of attention". Dress based on aesthetics. TikTok addict. Interested in astrology and spirituality. Cold. Performative.

Friend #3: Know-it-all. Bad at expressing themself. No filter. Self-centered. Radical thinking. "Everyone is stupid". Loves to stand out. Learned how to finish a Rubix cube just to show it off. Having low grades is a "red flag" to him. Has a strong desire to be loved, yet none to give it back.

Friend #4: All about the drama and lights. Emotionally explosive at times. Hiding behind a facade. Loves to meet different people. Business savvy. Guarded but would give you their heart once they let it down. Displays emotions as anger when in reality they're scared. Superficial connections to others are more prevalent.

Generally, these people are dynamic and quite sociable. They're people focused in the best and worst ways possible. There is a constant desire to change surroundings (and at times help others change and grow) but they themselves tend to be relatively rigid at the core. Impressionistic (even though they would probably deny it). Self-image is usually not the reality (this could manifest in being overconfident or self-critical). They love to work with their hands a lot and do much better when working with others in comparison to working alone. They are altruistic but aren't attentive to others' desires; as a result, they believe they know better about everything and "what is best" depending on the situation. Imitates emotions rather than naturally expressing them.

🫧Pisces Moon🫧

Another very close friend of mine. Hard to read. Intelligent. People smart. Their friends are family. Uncomfortable with expressing their emotions, yet a good listener. Extroverted introvert. Loves to go out and meet people. Likes to club, going to parties, playing video games, and trying out new things. Loyal. Tough shell, soft heart. Doesn't give a flying fuck about what strangers think of them. Trophy hunter. A very realistic and pragmatic view of the world. Melancholic. They are perceived as troubled when they're just quiet. Low-key altruistic.

This Moon sign is not as bubbly as I have heard about it. They're hard to pinpoint as they usually come off as either Aquarius or Scorpio Moons. They tend to go through much more emotional turmoil, especially as children. They have a floaty feel to them. They feel a lot but nothing at once. They are usually witnesses to harm done to others and suffer losses related to other people rather be it themselves directly, which contributes to a sense of isolation from their peers. They do definitely grow into brave people that face life despite all the baggage they seem to drag around. By far the moon sign that takes the longest to open up honestly and completely, although they do experience spats of anxiety from time to time. Also FOOOOODDDD. They love food and everything that brings them comfort. Vices.

🫧Aries Moon🫧

Very emotional yet not expressive. Dedicated and strong-willed (she is a pediatrician). Hung up on "the one that got away". A true badass. So pretty yet so sad. Her dogs are her babies. Always choosing violence. Femme fatal that drives a Jeep Wrangler.

Emotions that cut deeper than a sword. They seem to compensate for emotional and inner needs with material things and career achievements. Very intimidating when you meet them at first, as they appear put together and quite the expert in their field. They spiral downwards if life doesn't go their way. Personally, I think this moon sign is the most emotionally rigid. Not for their lack of desire to change but rather that they get stuck on what their heart desire and can't seem to see or want anything other than that thing or person that they can't get. They also seem hellbent on trying to control what we can't control, such as the past, other people, and unforeseen misfortune. Highly upkeep on their exterior. Needs some form of vice to process emotions, usually it's smoking and drinking. They tend to be their parents favorite.

q&a report q&a report (late but better than never) q&a report i didn't catch quiiiite everything in detail but i did my very best

we got: dt ros watt (malcolm) jatinder singh randhawa (porter) cal macaninch (banquo) casper knopf (fleance, the kid actor) alasdair macrae (musician, murderer) annie grace (gentlewoman, musician) and i think? kathleen macinnes (singer)

the last three people all shuffled in a bit apart from each other after the round of everyone introducing themselves by name and character was already over so i'm not sure i caught them all accurately. i'll refer to people by first names

during the introduction round i think casper started introducing himself and got kid applause so the audience ended up giving every single person a sped up little round of applause like a cute lil call and response rhythm between introduction - applause of very specific short length which was kind of funny. the cast joined in for each others as well and everyone made funny faces while applauding.

most questions were asked by the moderator

question: What did you think about the production when they first heard about it? cal was confused but intrigued. a lot of "not sure how it was going to work or feel like". when david and cush got on it the binaural audio wasn't yet firmly part of the concept but he was intrigued by the approach through trauma and how that affects the macbeths' relationship.

question: Wow was it for them with the binaural audio knowing the experience is different for the audience? what do they think? dt: we don't quite now how it comes together. the sounds are all cued off us actors, not the other way around. all i know is without Laura we would be fucked! (Laura = live sound mixing person) ros: we never quite know how it sounds for the audience, we were able to put on headphones and experience scenes we're not in in rehearsal, but i want to watch the whole thing! the cue speakers have some stripped down sounds and music that are relevant for the actors. but the audio choices enabled us to create intimacy jatinder: i think it makes the audience better able to relate to mental health struggles and trauma, giving what happens in the characters heads into your heads and relate it to your own experience. i think everyone here in the room has some of their own experiences with mental health and… voices in their head

question to the musicians: how does your work add to the concept and experience? kathleen (i think mostly, but the other musicians might also have weighed in): music enables us to place the text in a very Scottish place, but without getting in the way of the text. The headphones make it possible that it mixes with all the layers, balancing between music, sounds and lines is possible thanks to the technology. you can have loudly, energetically played music but then mix it at a level where it doesn't interfere with lines, when usually you would have to play quietly to let the text come through, which creates a different atmosphere. kathleen: i was advised to sing when nobody is speaking and turn that to humming when somebody is. so it was also very useful to have the glass box and always see what is happening on stage.

question about the porter scene: how did that come to pass, especially making a more modern version out of it? jatinder: decided together with max to just play it and see where it goes, starting with improvisation and then fleshing it out. there was an interest in finding a modern equivalent to the original jokes that audiences would perceive in a similar way as audiences back then would have related to the original jokes. the scene purposefully takes a bit of the intensity out - basically an emotional intermission in the middle of this really intense and dark journey. but my job was also in the end of the scene to bring the audience back into it.

question to david: What makes you come back to the big parts? dt: Well, Max had a good idea and I like Max. I liked the idea of the themes of PTSD and child loss and I like the donmar warehouse. i performed here 20 years ago, which is remarkable because i'm in my mid twenties right now! (laughs all around). there's something a bit magical about this space and doing an olympic event of a part like this one in this intimate of a space.

audience member question to Casper (kid): What is your favorite bit of the play? casper: my favorite bits are the murdering… or the attempt to murder. (laughs all around) But no, seriously. I like scenes where I'm not being killed and I'm having a conversation with someone that's not about death. different cast member (not sure who): -Is- there even a scene like that? (everyone laughs) dt, turning to Casper kind of conspiratorially: My favorite bit every night is the audience's reaction to your neck getting broken. (raised eyebrows, nodding to the audience with a wide grin) That's always something.

audience member question: Do you notice the audience being different in any way with the headphones compared to your experiences in other plays? different cast members answer in bits and pieces (sometimes i have a vague memory who it was…) ros: with the headphones sometimes people are louder, sometimes i feel like you are more connected and zoned in on us! maybe because you don't have the opportunity to talk to your neighbor maybe… somebody else: i feel like it's very quiet and there is somehow less coughing than usual. (laughs around) i don't know why that is!!

audience member question: What other productions of macbeth influenced this one: [here be the the answer part with david's ian mckellen impression, see the other post] musicians (i think annie): we came straight, literally no break, from the RSC's macbeth production so we really had to empty our brains. there was no break in between, but the music is very different and Max's vision also very different, so we really had to unlearn parts

audience member question: The physical theatre stuff, the witch swarm, how did that come about? ros: We really tried to think more of what would be a physical representation of the voices in somebody's head. Everybody in Macbeth's life is watching, taunting, staring at him. It was always more about the intention of the movement, what these voices want to do to him and less what the movement itself is.

THANK YOU for transcribing all of this. I love getting an explanation for what the swarm of witches were meant to represent! It really did feel like a dance/feeling more than a literal scene and it’s fun to know that was sort of the intent. (Also the neck snapping bit - I also loved the audience’s reaction to that every night.)

That's all you know and that's all you care about

Your career planning teachers HATE you

They hate that you refuse to consider a backup plan

You know that's probably smart for other people, but you don't need a backup plan

You’re going to be on stage, singing and performing

Your family thinks you're crazy

They think you're delusional, that you're going to get torn to shreds by the real world

Every "be realistic", every "and how's that going to work out?", every eye roll and shared look when you tell them you got a new instrument or are going to practice your guitar hurts

Of course it would

But more importantly it's more and more people to prove wrong

You have a list of what achievements your parents feel need to be met to have made it as a successful musician

They were trying to give you a wake up call about how hard it is to make it in the industry

You drew little check boxes next to each line and have it hanging on your wall in between band posters and concert tickets

Every jab from someone that should have your back is one more name on that list of people to prove wrong

It's strangely motivating

The most frustrating part of all this is that no one sees how hard you work for this

You've taken every gig, every odd job that involves singing and music and performing that you can find

You've dressed up as various popular characters and lead karaoke and sing alongs at kids parties, been a tooth fairy's assistant at a kindergarten, a keyboard playing mascot at a car dealership, and most recently, a tribute act to a famous country star performing at retirement homes

Seniors in plainview really like country music for some reason

Once word got around, at least twice a week you get all dressed up in the polar opposite of your usual self

Down to a cow print cowboy hat, garish boots, and a rhinestone fringe denim jacket

You whip out your acoustic guitar and sing some hits from the 60s and 70s to the seniors there who tell you that you have such a nice voice, why aren't all kids your age like this, back in my day etc etc

And a lot of them tip really, really well

So even though it’s not something you’d normally even consider, it’s a gig

It’s a paying gig

Which makes you a professional musician

So you’ll happily take it

Your parents have been talking about moving to another part of town for a while, and after months of looking, finally found a nice place on Surrey Street

The only problem is you would be in a different school district, and have to transfer to Crossland high which has the most shitty theatre and arts programs ever

Which makes it a hard no from you

Your younger siblings aren't to happy about it either, but are very quickly won over by the idea of having their own rooms, leaving you out voted

You had even tried to bribe the youngest by letting him touch your guitar, something he always tries to do as soon as your back is turned, but it was already decided

The only way they got you on board at all was with the (very reluctant) promise of guaranteed practice space in the attic and slightly less babysitting duty

Right before the move, you're at a gig at a retirement home

Leisure something? Towers, village, something like that

It's closer to where you're moving, so that’s something

Part way through your set, you're very thrown off guard by the surprisingly hot piece of ass that's a dead ringer for Billie Joe Armstrong watching you play at the back of the room

He and a kid that looks around the same age as your sister are standing next to one of the older guys

Mr. Heff-something?

You can't remember

But goddamn that guy is hot

By the time your set is finally done, you thank them with your signature twang that you spent hours perfecting in your room

You watched interviews of country singers for a week straight until you got it perfectly right

The hot guy and leaves with who you're assuming are his brother and grandpa before you can even consider approaching him and your heart sinks a little

You’re thinking maybe there will be some hot guys at Crossland, even though your hopes aren’t high

On your way out, you see a blue piece of paper on one of the coffee tables towards the back of the room you’d been playing in

You pick it up and your heart starts pounding

Wanted: gutarist for a rock band. Must know how to shread.

You skim the rest of the flier

You’re so excited you don’t even notice the glaring typos scattered across the page

A rock band

You were finally going to be able to audition for a rock band

You’d be lying if you said you weren’t freaking out

But the auditions are at the end of the week

And you have a gig that day

You type the addresses into your phone

It’s only a few blocks down the street from your new house

If you get the timing right, you should be able to get home and change out of your country music getup, then make it there before auditions are over

That also means you’re going to have like, no time to prepare

The next three days are spent practicing nonstop

Much to your family’s dismay

Your little sister barges into your room, hands over her ears

She’s never been shy about her disdain for your beloved rock and pop punk music

“I have a spelling bee tomorrow.” she states

“Sick,” you reply, not looking away from what you’re doing

“I have to focus!” she says

“Same!” you reply, tone sarcastically chipper

“I can’t focus with all this racket.”

You toss her a pair of headphones and go back to playing

She leaves with a scoff

She’s always been very straight laced and rule oriented

You have always been the “rules are meant to be broken” type

You do not see eye to eye at all

You never really have

This week is jam packed for you

You have to finish packing everything up because you’re finally moving into your new house, you have a gig at the end of the week, and that audition the same day

You can totally handle this

You can so totally handle this

That’s what you tell yourself as you scramble out to your car after your gig, which has somehow run tremendously late

You barely manage to make it to 12 surrey street, grabbing your guitar and scrambling towards the garage, where the audition flier is taped

“I’m telling you man, no one’s going to show. Let’s just call it-”

“Hi, is this the guitarist audition for the rock band?” You ask

Four punky looking guys stand in the garage you just entered, all eyes on you

One is holding a bass, one’s next to a mic, one of them is wearing a t shirt that says “loded diper", and one is standing in front of a well loved drum kit

You recognize the last one as the hot guy from your last gig, and your heart flip flops in your chest

“...yeah.” the hot guy says

You introduce yourself, rambling a little about how much you love music and how long you’ve been playing

They don’t seem sold

“Can you shred?” hot guy asks

“Yeah, totally.” you state

The guy next to the mic says something quietly to the hot guy and he shrugs

“Show us what you got.”

A few minutes later, you’ve played your way through some pop punk classics and a few personal favorite riffs and guitar solos

Watching their jaws drop when you nailed the guitar solo in I’d hate to be you by mayday parade was something you really enjoyed

They’re stunned as you finally finish playing, and let out a satisfied sigh

“Told you I could shred.”

Honestly, Rodrick was sold on you when he saw you playing guitar at his grandpa’s retirement home

He had no idea how you’d gotten a flier, he figures one fell out of his bag or something

And now he’s thanking a god he’s not sure he believes in that it did

That it brought you here

Because you are exactly what they need

He shares a look with Chris, Ben, and Ward

There’s no way they can turn your down

And not just because you’re the only person who showed up to the audition

You’re amazing

Ben sighs

“I mean, we’ll need to do something about the look, but-”

“Oh god no,” you interject, “I don’t normally look like this. It’s for a gig.”

After some introductions and exchanging numbers, you’re ready to meet up for practice twice a week

You smile, elated that it went this well in spite of the bumps in the road along the way

You thank them again before you leave

They watch you exit the garage and get into your car, letting out a muffled cheer before heading out

“...Okay,” Rodrick starts, “new rule - no dating band members. No matter how hot they are.” He mutters the last part, and everyone very, very reluctantly agrees

Are you the hottest person he’s seen in a very long time? Yes!

Are you the best guitarist in plainview hands down? Fuck yeah!

Is your hotness amplified by how excited you are to be in loded diper in spite of their terrible reputation? Abso-fucking-lutley!

But Rodrick won’t let anything jeopardize the future of this band

He knows all the guys think you’re hot

Like really hot

So if they can navigate this

If they can write some more songs and book a few more gigs without anyone hooking up or making out with anyone else (cough cough with you) he’ll consider that a huge success

Lying in bed that night, Rodrick decides there’s no way you can be hot enough to break the no dating band members rule

That decision is challenged when you show up to practice in grungy eyeliner and a worn ramones t shirt

And it’s challenged further when you start playing together because jesus fucking christ you’re good

You’re exactly what this band needs, he reminds himself

The band needs a guitarist, not their guitarist and drummer making out in secret

But with the way you’re looking at Rodrick, watching him play, the feeling is mutual

And it’s a matter of time before the rising tension becomes too much and someone cracks

Because not only do you get to be in a band, you get to be in a band with a stupid hot guy that looks like the pop punk star you’ve had a crush on since middle school

This won’t be a recipe for disaster

2. My three favorite characters and why I love them so much.

Hello hi would you like to hear about the best TARDIS team you've never heard of, right as I've fallen back hard into special interest fixation on them :D :D :D

So there's this book series.

After The Enemy Within, aka Doctor Who the TV Movie, premiered to an astounding lack of enthusiasm in 1996, BBC books decided to steal Virgin Publishing's idea to write novels about dr who, and promptly yoinked the license so they could cut out the middleman and do just that, this time starring Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor instead of Sylvester McCoy's Seventh. This novel series was called, aptly enough, The Eighth Doctor Adventures. So entirely skipping over almost three decades' worth of entertaining intrafandom drama and also how nu!who shamelessly stole basically every good idea the EDAs ever had (the biggest being of course the Time War, tho tragically nowhere near as well done), my favorite TARDIS crew:

The Eighth Doctor (as you may have guessed), Fitz Kreiner, and Anji Kapoor.

I love them, I adore them, they're my best friends. All three of them are amazing in their own right, but they're absolutely phenomenal as a team.

Eight, and the EDA version of them specifically, is my favorite doctor bar none. They're flighty and giddy and tactile and deeply affectionate, they're extremely weird and have a number hyperfixations and special interests and other very relatable neurodivergent tendencies. They are very prone to amnesia in a way which starts off as kind of a running gag and ends up being a huge plot point for the entire second half of the series. They're easily the most genderfluid the Doctor ever gets before textually being played by a woman and going by she/her, which is a big part of why I like using they/them pronouns for the Doctor generally. They kiss people often and canonically date people of multiple genders. Being played by (or at least written in reference to) Paul McGann, they are extremely pretty. They also go through the absolute fucking wringer, both in the sense that their arc plots are really dramatic and complicated and dark, and also in the sense that some of the folks writing for the series are pretty unapologetic whump fans lol. Best Doctor. No notes.

Next up is My BoyTM. The ur-blorbo himself, Fitzgerald Michael Kreiner. He's the best and I hate him. He's the worst and I love him. He's a musician from 1963 with appalling fashion sense and truly awful luck. He's canonically bi and in love with the Doctor (and their kiss in the novel Dominion in 1998 was the first kiss between the Doctor and a man in the history of Dr Who). He's a clone of himself because Eight lost the original Fitz 600 years in the future and then he joined cult of shitty time traveling mall goths. The original Fitz lived 2000 years and was filled with hate and wanted to kill the Doctor for abandoning him but never actually stopped loving them. He's a massive idiot. He's genuinely embarrassing so often but also despite thinking of himself as a coward and an asshole he's very brave despite his constant terror and very kind despite his pretending that he's only out for himself. He is such astoundingly perfect tumblr bait it's not even funny. He's one of the longest running companions in the franchise by number of consecutive stories.

Last of my darlings is the myth, the legend herself, Anji Kapoor. The first Asian companion in the history of Doctor Who, she's a stock futures trader from 2001 and to this day the only example I can think of off the top of my head of a woman of color having her white boyfriend get fridged for the sake of her emotional pain and character development. On the surface, she's the one with braincell, but she's so much more than just the white boy babysitter stereotype. She's a massive closet nerd who loves Star Trek but won't admit it, she's got a very weird thought process that makes her jump to the most absolutely batshit decisions while justifying them to herself as being perfectly reasonable and logical and not at all insane, she thinks of Fitz as a brother and the Doctor as a sister, she once called the Doctor a useless otterfucker, literally what can't she do (other than get back to her own time and planet rip).

The three of them have such a wonderful dynamic together. They're best friends and close family despite them being thrown together entirely by chance. They banter and joke and snark together, they riff off each other and enjoy each other's company, all three of them would catch a bullet for each other and all three of them more or less have. They're in a run of I think 25 books, which is a pretty significant time to spend together, and while there are some clunkers in their run ngl, they've also got some truly amazing books together, including one of my favorite books not just in the EDAs or Dr Who, but as a whole, The Year of Intelligent Tigers. I love them so so much I can't even.

I'm... not sure how accessible anything to do with the EDAs is give I fell off the DW deep end solidly a decade ago and at this point I just have to admit I'm in for life, but I have observed that most people who do read the EDAs tend to put 8&fitz&anji in at least their top five TARDIS teams, if not their first pick. Anyway, I love them, thank you so much for letting me gush about the best TARDIS team in all of Dr Who :D

EHEHEHE I LOVE THIS QUESTION…

Ok so the promise of the cherry blossoms is my oc story about a highschool basketball club!! I named it that because cherry blossoms are a huge signifier of change and new beginnings, and I want a big part of the overall theme of the story to be that there’s always hope, there’s always room to grow, and you’re never stuck where you started, you can have a new beginning. I haven’t made any actual materials for the story (yet) mostly because I struggle with which format would be best to tell it in.

The story itself focuses on each member of the club, as well as the two managers and their coach. Every character has their own personal story, usually intertwining with some of the others in some way. The other main theme of the story is the idea that what you see on the surface isn’t always everything to a person, and there’s a lot more to them than meets the eye.

The characters:

Starting with the players on the team, we have the captain, Soga Umeno (his surname is subject to change cuz I don’t like how it flows). He’s in his third year, and cares very deeply about the other members of his team, but struggles with how at home he was practically forced to become a parent to his three much younger siblings.

After Soga, the vice captain is a third year named Seki Matsuda (aka Matsu). While Soga is very warm and caring, he is extremely cold and harsh. He believes putting 100% of your effort into everything you do is the best way to be, to the point of it being extremely detrimental to his well being. He is extremely sleep deprived, extremely exhausted, and extremely stuck in his own head. He’s very autistic and has ocd. He’s also (fallen out) childhood friends with the next character.

Onto the other two third years on the team, Kazuha Yumeno (aka Kazu) is the token pretty boy. He’s spectacularly gorgeous, but also spectacularly self centered and vain. Similar to Matsuda, he strives to be the best, but instead of in everything, it’s specifically in beauty. He has an eating disorder and hates himself so so much, and he sacrifices a lot of his life in the name of his beauty, which was a major factor in his and Matsu’s falling out.

For the final third year, we have Akihito Tsukimori. He was one of the first characters I made, when I still didn’t know what I wanted the story to be, and he’s not as fleshed out as the others. He’s a really laid back, cool type, who is a passionate musician who is stuck under his parents’ thumb and cannot pursue his dreams due to their desire for him to follow in family tradition and have some boring normal job, like a doctor or something (I never decided lol. He’s not my fave tbh). He plays trumpet.

For second year, let’s start with Yuta Ito. He was originally the main character before I got rid of the concept of a protagonist in this story. He’s a (mostly) pre transition trans guy who just transferred to this school and has always dreamed of being a professional basketball player, and goddammit he will stop at nothing to be allowed on the boys team and prove he’s just as good (if not better) than all of them. Spoiler, he is better than all of them, not for special reasons, everyone else just kind of sucks.

Next is Kiyohiko Suzuki (or, later in the story, Kiyoko). She was the second character I made and I LOVE her. Upon Yuta’s arrival in the club, she’s introduced to the idea she may not be as cis as she thought, and begins experimenting, only to discover she is in fact a girl. She really struggles with her family in this regard, but especially her relationship with her two older sisters, and the fact that her family favored her for being the “only son”. There’s a lot more to the sisters but that’s too much for this little blurb lol.

For the final second year (there’s supposed to be a fourth but I just… have never made him), we have Hideyoshi Akazuma (aka Hide). He’s pretty much a shoe-in to be the next captain, and he’s essentially perfect at everything he does. He and Yuta don’t get along, especially due to Yuta’s similarities to his twin brother. Hide is extremely pressured by his parents and teachers to uphold this perfect persona, and it puts a lot of tension between him and his peers, but more importantly, between him and his brother.

The first years are arguably my favorite, so let’s start with Daishi Edogawa, as he’s the easiest. Daishi is by far the tallest on the team, and is extremely awkward and nervous. He grew up raised by his mom and grandma, alongside his little sister, Tsuna. Due to this, he never really had any male role models in his life, and now is struggling with his relationship to being a man and his masculinity, and what all of it even means. He also has a crush on the following character, Madoka.

Madoka Kume is everything. He is my boy. I love him. He’s the second smallest of the cast, and matching to his appearance, he has a very strong childlike innocence (for the most part) and naïveté. He was raised by his older sister Utaha, after his mother decided she hated him and severely neglected him. Utaha could have her own section with all this stuff… anyway, Madoka is very aware that his disposition can make it a lot harder on his sister, and desires to become stronger and more independent to ease her burden, but throughout this develops an avoidance to asking for help. He is also autistic, dyslexic, and possesses some other ambiguous learning disabilities.

Following on to my ACTUAL favorite, Hotaru Ibe (previously known as Haruka). He is a former child model who was extremely talented and beautiful, but also very lonely and desperate for human connection. Due to this he experiences some of the horrors of the industry with a photographer acting as his friend and taking advantage of him. After a particularly bad incident, Hotaru quits, decides he’s never doing this again, changes his name and his entire look, and does his best to repress all his trauma with the desire to be “a completely normal kid”. He’s got a lot of shit going on.

And the final player, Ryuunosuke Itori (aka Ryuu), Hotaru’s best friend (Ryuu has a hella crush on him btw). Ryuu is the top of his class, and is extremely similar to Hide and Matsu. He works hard and is is very smart, but the stress starts getting to him. When his delinquent cousin moves in with him, Ryuu finds himself becoming friends with some unsavory types, and soon finds himself spiraling out of control after getting involved in some drug related shit and becomes more and more apathetic and less and less of who he was before. His and Hotaru’s stories (which are actually very intertwined) are probably the heaviest topics.

Onto the two managers, let’s start with Shunichi Itori, a third year, and Ryuu’s older cousin. He’s a delinquent involved in some gang stuff, and after getting detained overnight, his parents are finally fed up and tell him he’s not welcome in their house anymore. His aunt and uncle offer to take him in, if he agrees to put all of that behind him. He takes the offer, and at first he keeps doing bad shit behind their back. They force him to join the basketball club so Ryuu can keep an eye on him, but after he accidentally gets Ryuu involved with his friends, he seems to realize what he’s doing is kind of fucked up, and starts to work on becoming a better person and putting all that stuff behind him, with the help of the other manager.

Aiko Tachibana is a first year, and she’s the third character I made! Her story has shifted a lot, and I have yet to find one that works perfectly. She’s similar to a lot of other characters, she’s very childish but hates being seen this way, has strict parents with high expectations for her, and struggles with her identity. She has anger issues and hates when people don’t take her seriously and struggles with her self image over this. She also has a crush on Suzuki, and believes she likes “mature women”, which factors into her desire to be less childlike.

And of course we have the coach. Her name Maki Ikegami, and she’s an ex professional basketball player who’s career was ended prematurely after an injury. She’s a relatively new addition to the cast and I haven’t worked on her much yet, but she struggles with the new route her life has taken and the way she’s been completely displaced. There’s also supposed to be a club advisor, but I haven’t made them yet oops.

We also have a ton of side characters, such as Utaha Kume (she could have her own section she’s probably the most fleshed out side character), Kiriko and Kaoru Suzuki, Tsuna Edogawa, Ryuu’s currently unnamed prostitute friend (I can’t think of anything that fits her), and many other siblings and family members.

I’m also just now realizing how major a role sibling and family dynamics play in most of these plot lines (unmentioned is how Kazuha and Yuta’s respective brothers are major parts of their characters, among other things).

Sorry for rambling so much I just. Love this story so much and I get excited when anyone asks about it hshdhdjdh

Grishaverse Hunger Games: I wrote summaries of all the characters journeys and I wanted to go into detail - I have Jespers and I’m working on Kaz right now (he is very difficult to get talking). Rewrite The Stars 2.0: I’m rewriting the first Tudors OT3 verse fic because it was only meant as a one shot and I have so so much more world building and ideas to write. I’m just stuck right now because (see above). It’s a fairy tale with a happy ending but it has a fight, it has pain and it has scars that will remain heavy but also, there will be love.

Crown Of Ashes:

Crown of Ashes is very inspired by the Taylor Swift Song Castle Crumbling. It’s a ‘what if Mary Tudor made similar choices to her father’ for better (and worse and maybe in between) reasons to her. What if everything the world tells you you should believe and want is wrong actually - what if you get everything you thought you wanted and it sucks.

This one. I know where I want to go, I’m just Not Getting There. I think I need to listen to the playlist again.

Tortall Found Family: Essentially this is about Numair/Arram coming to Tortall, heavy on the Jon-Thayet-Numair friendship but everyone is here, my absolute conviction that Ozorne never stopped loving Numair throughout all the books, that Roger had a really creepy possessive thing for Jon and also BONDING. Also contains Biracial Jon of Conte content (I think).

METALHEAD! Michael Myers X EMO! S/O Headcanons

A/N: Can’t get the idea of metalhead Mikey falling for an emo out of my head, it’s so damn cute and self indulgent on my part. Sorry not sorry.

Well, to set the stage for this post, I’ll start by saying that (in the early 2000s at least), metalheads did not like emos, or at the very least had a distaste for emo music.

They think it’s whiny, and metal is not whiny,

Michael has spent his life detesting the thought of being weak, emotional, or whiny, and got into metal at a pretty young age.

I like to think that in a world where 07 didn’t happen, he’d grow up to be a metalhead and hang around other likeminded people.

And although the group he hung out with had an arbitrary hatred for the emo group that gathered only a few benches over, you always had his eye.

While your respective groups bickered the two of you stood behind, observing the other with interest.

He liked your cute little accessories, maybe even found your taste in musicians hilariously charming, he just couldn’t bring himself to hate you.

When his younger sister Laurie started bringing you around more he got used to you, despite his stand-offish nature at first.

When you expressed interest in the things that he liked he slowly started assimilating your interests into his life as well, or at the very least gave them a shot.

The two of you found common ground regarding you interest in the edgier things, especially horror movies. Blood, guts, gore, fun! Who didn’t like a good horror flick?

You were lucky he allowed you to get away with so much. Painting his nails, playing your music on his stereo, making blingees on his computer? You were privileged, so so privileged.

Even if you were whiny, you were cute, and undeniably… You. The heart of being emo is being, well, emotional, something that he’s never willingly tried to be. He admires the culture for that, and you as well.

You help make him feel more sensitive, less tough and more squish, maybe even… Vulnerable.

If you’re the poetry type and you’re brave enough to share with him, you might receive some of his with varying degrees of quality.

One thing he won’t do for a very long time is let you apply makeup on him, he can do it himself and doesn’t like you being so close to his face.

He definitely likes watching you put yours on though, if you put any on.

If you doodle he’ll scribble with you, usually claiming the other side of the page for his strangely demonic art. You think it’s cool.

He watches as you feverishly use the MS paint line tool to draw your respective features over a DA Sonic couple base, non judgmentally kind of. If you ask him to add stuff he will create an awesome moonlit background and maybe some song lyrics in Creepster font. It’s his wallpaper now.

He likes it when you draw you and him as wolves he thinks they’re. Cool. He likes wolves, he thinks they are cool. Will draw the same wolf characters but in a lot more eerie detail.

When emailing you he will only say what he feels necessary, but will occasionally frighten you when he mimics your text emotes with a small “ T_T “

Stalks your forum profiles, doesn’t matter what forum or how obscure. He will find you and watch, judge a little but not say anything.

If his friends target you specifically he’ll fend them off, not caring whether or not they look down on him for it. If they aren’t willing to let you be apart of his life, then they can’t be apart of it either.

Dancing is weekly occurrence when in a relationship w/ Phoenix. She loves dancing and its better when she gets to hold you in her arms or spin you around. You two are the main attraction when you go to dance clubs. Sometimes when you’re home Phoenix will play music just to sway you side to side.

Whenever Phoenix lets her hair down you automatically love to run your fingers through it. She’s always keeping it up per regulation but you relish when its down in its natural wave. You especially love when its hair washing day and she needs your assistance. “Babe, can you help me with—.” “YES!”

Phoenix loves to cook and is always trying new recipes. You’ll be her taste tester and when its your turn in the kitchen she can’t help but stand to the side and watch you. You are that couple who plan your week’s worth of meals and go to the commissary or grocery store together to get the stuff. But never go on an empty stomach—cause then you leave with your cart overflowing with shit you didn’t come for in the first place.

Y’all are the ones who would host a Friendsgiving w/ the other members of the Dagger Squad. It became a tradition with y’all having a specific theme each year. One year it was everyone had to make a dish that started with the first letter of their name, then another you all dressed up ad Maverick. This past year involved going around the table and unpacking celebrity scandals.

You and Nat are not just partners, but each other’s best friend & cheerleader. In the gym you are pushing each other to get another rep in. When it comes to your jobs you’re both there to listen when the other needs to rant about the rough day they had. “Today the Gs were just too much and it gave me a headache. I was off target by five seconds.” You two are always going out of your way to make sure the other knows they are loved. Even if it small & simple gestures. “I ran you a bath if you’re feeling up to it. I went out yesterday to get those bath salts you love.”

Date night is a weekly ritual. They mostly consist of walks on the beach, dinner and movie night, of going to the arcade since you two are competitive. You’ll go to the fair when its in town or splurge on a concert every once and a while. It’s something you always look forward to at the end of the week when you’re free from nights nose deep in work where you can enjoy time with your lover.

Phoenix is a total book worm, in fact, the reason y’all met was because she saw you reading a favorite book if hers in a cafe. She was on her lunch break and needed a quick coffee to keep her going when she spotted you in the corner table completely invested in the book you had. When she saw the title —and how absolutely gorgeous you were—Nat walked up to you saying, “that’s a great book you’ve got there. One of my favorite reads this year. What part are you at?” You, completely speechless by the beautiful woman in front of you, stuttered out a response. Before Nat knew it she was well over her lunch break after you two fell deep into discussion over the main character. Once y’all became official, you guys would have nights where you cuddled up to Nat just to listen to her read aloud.

If you’re an artist of some form—photographer, musician, painter, writer, poet, etc—Nat would be your muse. Anything that came to your creative mind often involved her in some way, shape, or form. Your memory card would be filled with images of her doing candid things like reading, cooking, working on her car, or simply walking down the street ahead of you. The song book with pages upon pages of lyrics referenced her doe eyes and gorgeous smile. The protagonist/love interest of your novel would be based around her personality. Paintings often depicted Nat or drew inspiration from your relationship.

Rooster and Bob are your closest friends in the squad. Bob because he wad Nats backseater and best friend, and Rooster because not only did he know Nat the longest but also was the first to welcome you to their little family. He’d be the first person you’d go to when asking for advice on what to get Nat for birthday, anniversary, promotion and what not. You and Bob often have deep discussions where he gives wonderful advice whenever you’re seeking a third party opinion.

Nat loved dogs so expect to have multiple in your home. You guys are always fostering to help the local animal shelter—which sometimes makes you regret it since you always cry when an animal you’ve attached to has to leave. You guys have adopted four fur babies and must live off base since on base residents are only required two pets. And there’s no way in hell you’re surrendering/re-homing your fur children. “Wait Nat, they’ve all bonded—we can’t separate them!!” “Then we’re gonna need a bigger house, baby….one with a giant yard.”

Behold! I suddenly got intense spoons for creating a Genshin x Pixie Hollow AU.

This is the main listing of talents I have for the characters. They’re based on the pixie hollow books, so there are a lot more talents then in the movies! In the books there are a lot of subsections and specialized talents as well, so many characters will dance around a bit with their talents! Some of them also will have one talent, but join another field to help out! If anyone has any ideas on where some characters could be moved around to better suite their talents, please let me know in the comments or tags!

Animal-

Razor-Razor is a young fairy, but he is most interested in the most dangerous of animals. He doesn’t spend much time around the other fairies, preferring to spend time with the big scary creatures instead.

Gorou-Gorou trains animals, specifically to carry out tasks! He helps train them to get used to fairies riding them, and to learn steering controls! He helps make sure each scout has their own perfect match.

Itto-Itto specializes in bugs. He knows every kind of bug, their favorite food, their names, and their skills. He likes racing them and pushing them to be the best bugs they can be.

Arts-

Xinyan-Xinyan specializes in instruments! She is the musician behind most of the play’s and story’s put on in the theatre!

Yun Jin- Yun Jin is a songstress and story teller. She weaves the most elaborate stories, and has a voice that soothes your heart.

Kazuha- Kazuha is a poet, and is a fan of wind instruments. He helps a lot backstage, preferring not to be the one on the main stage.

Fyschl-Fyschl’s stories are… interesting. They’re captivating and full of drama, though she doesn’t break character after leaving the stage. All of the plays she puts on are of her own character and her adventures(usually a dramatized version of the daily events). People often see her shows to get caught up on daily events. It takes lots of discussion to reveal the true story beneath her fabrication though.

Nilou-Nilou is an elegant dancer. She performs at most events. She’s a water talent fairy, and she combines her talent with her love for dance. She helps with special effects backstage as well.

Baking-

Xiangling-Xiangling is the head baker of Pixie Hollow. She loves experimenting with strange ingredients, but she never understands why no one eats it… however, her talents do aid her with creating the most mouthwatering dishes you could imagine!

Diona-Diona specializes in drinks! In Pixie hollow there is no alcohol, only sugar highs! She enjoys creating fun drinks for everyone to enjoy! She’s a newly born fairie, and is very beloved in the community. She has a sharp tongue though.

Dust keeping-

Zhongli-Zhongli is one of the eldest fairies, almost old enough to remember the birth of the pixie dust tree. He has long since retired, now enjoying life in pixie hollow. He does however lend a helping hand whenever they need one, which is often. He may be old, but he hasn’t lost his energy.

Albedo- Albedo is Zhongli’s successor. He teaches new dust keepers of their duties, as well as holding classes for the properties of dust.

Sucrose-Sucrose enjoys using dust to create new effects, the Zarina of this AU. However, she wasn’t banished due to her creations and discoveries. In Pixie hollow, it’s welcomed to try new things, and the discovery of the properties of dust was shocking and incredible! She works under Albedo, who oversees her studies.

AlHaithem- AlHaithem delivers all of the reports of the pixie dust tree to the scribes. He’s basically considered a scribe due to how much time he spends in the libraries studying. He knows just about everything in pixie hollow. He also helps deliver the daily dosage of pixie dust to the fairies in pixie hollow.

Fast flying-

Venti- an elder fairy, though you’d never guess it with how much energy he has. Venti is the fastest fairy in pixie hollow, yet also the laziest. He prefers to spend time with his friends, enjoying the pleasures of pixie hollow. He also enjoys Diona’s sweet and sugary drinks! He loves his sugar highs.

Wanderer-a troublemaker in pixie hollow. He enjoys causing mischief, though you’ll never catch him doing so. He doesn’t shirk his duties, but he grows bored of them. Despite his youthful appearance, he’s an older fairy. He’s incredibly fast, creating strong winds.

Sayu- a sleepy fairy. She’s fast, but she tires easily from her speed.

Yelan-Yelan works with the scouts often, using her speed to help get to places quickly to offer aid and assistance.

Garden-

Nahida-a retired garden fairy. She offers help when needed, but she enjoys working in the scribes office more. She’s the oldest garden talent, but she isn’t an elder fairy like Ei or Venti or Zhongli.

Collei-Collei is a newer fairy, with lots of allergies. She has to be careful with what plants she works with, though she’s allergic to most of them. She spends most of her time in the hospital helping mix medicines for the healing talent fairies.

Tighnari-Tighnari is the leader of the garden talent fairies, chosen specifically by Nahida. He is an incredibly knowledgeable fairy, teaching others about the dangerous plants to look out for. He takes notes and studies new plants that arrive on neverland, and helps clear out/make maps of areas to avoid that are full of dangerous plants.

Diluc-Diluc is a gardening talent that specifics in produce. His fruits and veggies are the sweetest in pixie hollow, which are used to create the best tasting foods and drinks for events. His garden is kept secret to keep thieving and hungry fairies out.

Healer-

Baizhu- Baizhu is one of the lead healers in pixie hollow. He knows almost every ailment and every remedy! He’s a kind doctor who treats his patient with care.

Qiqi- A young fairy. She’s a service talent fairy who is quite attached to Baizhu. She was born with memory problems, but she has a knack for remembering what ingredients heal what ailment, and has most medicine formulas memorized. She might need a reminder here and there, but where her mind forgets, her muscles remember. Just don’t go reorganizing the office.

Barbara-Barbara is a water talent fairy who helps out in the hospital ward. She felt a calling to help those in pain, and learned that her waters have a soothing affects on aches and bruises. For minor pains, she often treats them, or she’ll assist in helping nullify pain if there’s a long wait to see one of the main doctors.

Candice- Candice helps Baizhu run the hospital. She’s kind motherly fairy who treats everyone with love and care. Unlike Baizhu, who’s passive aggressive with his scolding, she will scold her patients outright if they got hurt doing something foolish.

Light-

Klee-Klee is a newly born fairy who adores bright shiny things. She adores fireworks, and often has trouble with making her light less intense. Fires often follow Klee. She prefers walking and hopping around to flying most of the time. She hasn’t quite gotten the hang of her wings yet.

Yoimiya-Yoimiya creates her own fireworks! She works with tinker fairies to perfect them, and creates fireworks for events! Her presence feels like a sunny day, and her rainbows are the brightest.

Scribe-

Ningguang-is in charge of the scribe library. She knows every scroll and almost everything in pixie hollow. Her knowledge rivals Zhongli’s himself! Any event idea or plan change must be brought to her attention. She’s a very busy fairy.

Yanfei-Yanfei is basically a lawyer. She writes down any and all disagreements and deals, and makes sure fairies do good on their promises. Thanks to her, there’s order in Pixie hollow.

Xingqui- He makes copies of stories. He knows almost every story, and will get sidetracked reading new ones. He enjoys watching new plays, and as he watches, his hand is working faster than a hummingbirds wings to write down the entirety of the play in perfect handwriting. He gets a copy of the scripts as well, but Fyschls performances tend to have a lot of improv.

Shinobu- she takes note of most petty and silly accidents and disagreements. She mainly writes down lots of complaints and anything that causes production of any kind to slow down.

Hu Tao- Hu Tao keeps track of the newly born Fairies, as well as those who died due to disbelief. She’s the only one able to handle the morbid task without her light dying out.

Scouts-

Jean- Jean is incharge of creating patrols. She turns in patrol logs to the scribes, and is the leader of the scouts. Kind and responsible, no one doubts her position or abilities, though Jean feels she’s far too young to have the role.

Bennett- Bennett is on strict ground patrol. HES not allowed near tumbleweeds. Or thistles. Or water. Or fire. Pretty much anything really. However, he has an incredible eye, and a very loud voice. One can hear his voice from the bottom of the pixie dust tree if he were at the top. He’s on hawk duty, as his loud voice will quickly alert fairies in the nearby area of the danger.

Amber-a Cheerful scout. Her bright and Sunny personality is what made Jean place her as a scout within the more populated area. Seeing Amber places people’s minds at ease. Even if she seems distracted, she’s always alert. It’s like she has eyes in the back of her head.

Cyno- if you need to track down someone, Cyno is who you go to. He’s an incredible tracker, and a strong scout.

Eula-patrols along the borders of pixie hollow. She’s strong, and likes to work alone. Well, most of the time anyways.

Rosaria-Rosaria often skirts patrols. She’ll do a quick fly around, but often enjoys pursuing her own tasks. She’s a skeptical and guarded fairy.

Sara- Sara acts as a bodyguard. When a fairy needs to go on a dangerous mission, or needs to travel outside of pixie hollow, Sara is one of the fairies who might travel with them to ensure their safety.

Shenhe- A strong scout. She can practically smell trouble, often wandering away from patrols when something catches her attention, leading her to be right where she needs to be.

Xiao- one of the stronger scouts, and one of the elder fairies. He helps fight off/lead away predators. He’s gotten into tousles with Hawks and survived.

Heizou- a great tracker. Heizou can track a theif with ease. He has a sharp eye.

Service-

Thoma- Thoma is one of the top service talent fairies. He works with most of the leaders of the talents.

Noelle- works within the pixie hollow tree. She helps out with housework, but longs to join the scouts. She is the best at what she does.

Yao Yao- Yao Yao enjoys wandering around pixie hollow, carrying a bag full of supplies. Somehow she always has what’s needed, even if she doesn’t remember packing it, she knows it’s in her bag!

Mika- For a service talent, Mika works best as a mail deliverer! He’s quick and somehow always knows where the mail needs to go.

Keqing- she works with Ningguang, helping take note from less important tasks. She is one of Ningguang’s most trusted.

Star counting-

Mona- Mona uses star counting to read the future. She looks to spot danger in the future so they can best prepare for it ahead of time.

Layla- Layla uses Star counting to understand the world around her, rather than fortune telling. Though she is fascinated by Mona’s abilities.

Storm-

Ei- Ei is the leader of the storm talent fairies. She can create the most powerful of storms, but she prefers not to use her powers, for risk of harming neverland.

Lisa- Like Miko, she isn’t one to abuse her abilities. Despite being a storm talent fairy, she prefers to work with the scribes, helping keep the ever growing list of books and scrolls organized and tidy. She’s become the librarian of the library, knowing every scroll that comes in, where it goes, and who checked it out last.

Beidou- for a storm talent, Beidou is better at breaking up storms then making them. She can face a hurricane and turn it into a gentle wind, a thunderstorm into a light drizzle, and a heat wave into a nice sunny day.

Miko- Miko is one of the elder fairies, and rarely uses her abilities. She mostly enjoys the finer things in pixie hollow, such as reading and writing, and enjoying the plays that go on. She’s a lover of art, and is one who knows everything that goes on in pixie hollow.

Tinker-

Kaveh-Kaveh is a tinker who enjoys painting and architecture. He enjoys coming up with new building ideas to help out other talent fairies, and has lots of out there ideas. He enjoys using pixie dust on his models to see how it would hold up, which makes certain pixie dust keepers frustrated with. He often forgets to get himself his daily dose of pixie dust despite gathering so much extra for his tinkerings, leading him to walk on foot to the pixie dust tree.

Faruzan- enjoys making gizmos, and is especially good at puzzles! She’s not really an old fairy, but she likes to pretend she is.

Water-

Ayato- works alongside Kokomi as one of the leaders for the water talent fairies. He helps new fairies find the duties they best suite, and will hand out duties daily as the seasons change.

Kokomi- one of the strongest members of the water talents! She is known for her graceful use of her talents, which get things done efficiently and beautifully. Be warned though, don’t make her cross.

Tartaglia- a competitive water talent. He does his job quickly and efficiently, so he can hurry up and join games and competitions!

Winter-

Kaeya- Helps scout in winter! He rides a squirrel, which he playfully calls his seeing eye squirrel. He’s specifically a glacier talent, which can freeze any water except for salt water, as that disrupts the laws of nature!

Ayaka- she’s a frost talent who enjoys theatre and dance! She helps put on performances and helps with special affects!

Ganyu- Ganyu is a frost talent, and one of the older fairies. She is quite shy, and keeps to herself in the forest, enjoying the company of animals. One might think her to be an animal talent if not for her frost powers.

Chongyun- Chongyun is a glacier talent, who spends a lot of time patrolling the area. He helps out Kaeya with scouting.

I kind of regret not doing more with the Ocarina of Time, and time travel in general. Like, towards the end, Link would definitely try to use it, right? I think I'm going to do a major overhaul of the Termina arc soon.

Link was originally going to be very open about his past adventures. But i decided bottling everything up and feeling ashamed about it and letting it fester like a rotting wound would be sadder :)

sexuality was going to be a concept i explored in the fic. ultimately i wanted to keep it a T rating so i didn't do this, but. it was definitely a thing! cut things include lotsssss of Sheik baggage, boyish feelings about Kafei, weird fierce deity sex dreams and um. remember Javert?

Javert and Link wereeee... supposed to fuck! I even wrote a before and after scene LOLLL. Javert was going to play a more important role in general, being a semi-reoccurring character. He was planned to be Link's kind of """only friend""" in Castletown. Link was drawn to him because of how much older and experienced he was, and Javert took pity on Link, both in a sort of genuine but also kind of overbearing way. ultimately Link got annoyed by him pretty quickly and once he started to get to know Malon he basically ghosted him. another example of how Link struggles to balance relationships, especially those who really care for him. obviously i. didn't go further with this. but it was planned for about a year before I scrapped it. But i hope you reread their scene together to pick up on some vibes.....

since im already being disgusting um. bottom. praise kink. but he never really finds this out. how sad.

Yknow if were talking about rarepairs/crackships….how about Sammy/Grant? Listen hear me out- i think I started shipping them a few years ago back during the og fandom days, but since my interest in bendy has been reignited, so has my interest in this ship lol. And im ngl, have you ever noticed how similar Grant’s office is to Sammy’s Sanctuary? They both play that same whispering effect when you enter them, they both have an ink pipe in them, they both have a bendy item in them (sammys bendy plushie and grants bendy clock), both have writing on the wall…

Even just beyond that, its implied they died the same way too, from drinking ink? And how they both seem to put the blame on others for joeys mistreatment (sammys whole “useless sheep” bit in that newspaper and grants “STOP THE WASTERS!!” bit on his office walls). and even though theres like, BARELY ANY GRANT CONTENT IN CANON, he does have a minor connection to the ink demon, as one of the flashbacks in chapter 1 is of the ink demon on level S near his office, and although this probably doesnt mean anything, the fact that the first time we see sammys cult is when we open the door to the archives via a handle we had to get from grants office specifically….👀

Plus just the miscellaneous stuff like grants va being a musician, one whose song was specially placed in sammys office- idk, *marge voice* I just think they’re neat! :)

THATS AN INTERESTING ONE… I’ve seen it around a fair bit lately but it feels recent??

Before I dive in, I do wanna address the ink-drinking – I’m a little biased, since I tend to headcanon the ink-drinking as unique to Sammy, but I feel like Grant also drinking ink is not something that’s implied so much as a headcanon that got popular? We can pretty easily accept that Grant transformed at SOME point, and the shared whispers imply that they were both under some inky influence, but that doesn’t tell us that ink-drinking was to blame. The note in BatDR about Grant looking ill could certainly be used for an ink-drinking headcanon, too, but as far as Evidence I think all it tells us for sure is that Grant was Very Stressed. [also trying to merge BatDR Grant and BatIM Grant into one entity seems messier the longer I think about it but I CANT GET DISTRACTED BY THAT NOW, THATS FOR ANOTHER POST]

ANYWAY, all the little things about this one having a valve in that one’s office and this one being voiced by a guy who did a song that’s in the other one’s office are neat but ultimately I feel like that stuff isn’t want sells a ship, for me – the biggest thing is a compelling dynamic between the characters.

There’s so much between these two that complicates them –

-- good money and hiring his own people were Sammy’s two big asks when he took the Music Director job, so he could easily be a source of financial strain and seen as one of the “wasters” Grant is so frustrated with, and it’s also not hard to imagine Sammy blaming Grant as one of the useless sheep who can’t do his job right once paychecks start coming in late. Add to that Grant being described as having no creativity at all in the Employee’s Handbook, and trying to imagine what he would relate to in Sammy “my special interest is music” Lawrence. Though I don’t know, that one could be fun. Does Grant like music despite not “getting” it? Can Sammy and Grant relate to each other through the intersection of music and math? Or does Grant just conceptualise music as a kind of math, which Joey thinks is boring but Sammy knows is not far off, and Sammy with his partially jazz background is INTRIGUING to Grant because what he’s making sounds good but isn’t following the rules…? IDK, Grant and Sammy learning to understand each other through understanding each other’s work is a neat thought.

On the surface they’re both frustrated men who want things to be under control and are frustrated with Joey’s spontaneity, but while Grant is having a meltdown over WHAT WILL JOEY SAY?, Sammy is screaming about pleasing a god rather than a man and certain that he’s found the one who will Set Them Free. Grant’s characterisation could be taken in a lot of directions, but it’s not hard to imagine him as the phobic to Sammy’s counterphobic.

Which is INTERESTING, because you get a dynamic that seems to work, as Sammy gives the impression of a leader who can offer certainty and something to depend on – and you CAN depend on him – but he’s actually a follower at heart who desperately needs someone to answer to, someone to believe in, and I don’t know if Grant can be that someone. Sammy and Grant BOTH want to be the one behind the scenes with someone else in the spotlight. On the other hand… we know Grant’s massaging numbers and fudging things and illegally hiding assets. It wouldn’t be hard to characterise him with a bit of ruthlessness as well, someone who’s not afraid to break the rules when he feels he has to; while Sammy seems frustrated, overstimulated, and perpetually at odds with a system he doesn’t fit in, Grant is willing to learn the system well enough to bend the rules to his advantage and know how to get away with it.

If you go with this take, you get a pair that could be dangerously effective but also dangerously fragile. I don’t think they would challenge or change each other so much as just reinforce each other’s ruthless caution – as long as they’re in cahoots, they’d be loyal to each other and value no principle above each others’ well-being. But the instant either of them mistrusts the other, they’d combust.

Not directly to Generation Loss, but I've been given a lot of thoughts to the younger generation of minecraft streamers and their attempts to do big projects to "break out of" the minecraft mold: obviously, with Ranboo, we have Generation Loss, which seemed to go over well with his fanbase (enough so that he's stated he's thinking of quitting MCC, which is really the only tie he's had to the game for about a year atp), with Tommy, we have his New York vlog series and now his liveshows, and with Tubbo, while still Minecraft-adjacent, we have Tubnet. I'm wondering if you have any thoughts about what would make a cc successful at shifting their core audience into a brand new project that isn't necessarily the type of content that they got famous for. Do the audiences of all three ccs differ enough that they would need different strategies to shift their content? My running theory is that Generation Loss was mostly successful among his fanbase because it played on the tropes that were apparent in his minecraft lore from the beginning: mind control, a protagonist forced to do awful things against his will, a base npc type character that occasionally has overwrought freakouts over their lack of control, etc. It was just in a medium outside of Minecraft.

Meanwhile, Tommy is finding himself in a rut because he can't fully apply his storytelling skills to a non-Minecraft setting (in part because he's focusing more on comedy, and while his fans like his sense of humor, I think, in his lore, they also liked the Marvel-esque main character energy, which doesn't translate when it's just the cc having a huge ego, and the angst) and his vlogs, when they aren't completely on the backburner, seem too formulaic to have their early charm. As for Tubbo, while obviously a minecraft server is, well, minecraft, there wasn't enough "entertainment"/lore/a connection to the streamer to encourage his core audience to play Tubnet, at least not in the form it was released as. In short, I feel traditional mcyt-ers are looking for narratives or entertainment value from these bunch of ccs. Although maybe Lovejoy's success goes against this theory. It just seems like all the younger minecraft streamers have attempted to release a large project within the last year or so, and while that might not be indicative of them trying to leave the fandom, I sense a restlessness in all of them and a wish to move on.

(Okay so this is going under a readmore because it is a long’un)

As of 2023 in a post-lockdown and post-DSMP world I got the sense that a lot of people were restless regarding what to do and where to go next, CC and audience alike. I think that because the DSMP was such a specific time and place in people’s lives it’s inevitable that the majority of people (because those numbers were huge) will have moved on to watching/wanting other things, so retention through sameness may not work, but you’re onto something with the feeling like there’s no in-character story to follow anymore. The thing I poke at from time to time is that there’s no out-of-character plot to follow anymore either, most of the irl narratives have been resolved or brought off-camera so even the RPF people have to scavenge for food.

Lovejoy has a rising star narrative that people can invest in if they want; with them breaking free of associations with mcyt to be treated like serious musicians, and I think it also serves a purpose ofpeople trying to wash off post-mcyt shame in themselves. (“this is Wilbur Soot and this is WILL GOLD” they tweet, as though that is not a literal man onstage performing, but they’ve already decided what they want to believe in.) I’m sensing some misguided stabs to try and not be treated like the bottom of the food chain in the vocal fanbase by desperately trying to push away from the MCYT association, which is probably where those peoples heads are at all around. Most lovenjoyers are fine with it and just enjoy the music because it’s obviously how they got there, but there’s clearly a friction going on.

Ranboo has a kind of watered-down version of that following them. I remember when I first saw someone say very defensively that Ranboo wasn’t an MCYT, they were a variety streamer. Ranboo has been drifting away from MC for a long time, both moving into the variety realm and daydreaming about Genloss. When people win the internet lottery young it makes sense to want to put the money towards a project that they would only be stuck imagining otherwise, and Genloss very much feels like that kind of dream. I would say that Ranboo has successfully pivoted to variety and even completed their first big project, but they’ll need to re-capture that audience every time they make a Generation from now on, which could be hard to do with breaks in between.

Tubbo has also moved into variety streaming, which is kind of a necessity for the hours he keeps. He also has an ongoing love for big projects like Recipe for Disaster. Tubbo’s longterm investment and labor of love was Tubnet, which would have established him as the owner of a server like the one that he used to play on when he was younger. I don’t know what Tubbo’s relationship to storytelling is, I’ve heard he does it on a small scale but he also has a unique love of engineering, which Tubnet was more about. As far as I know there were a lot of things that eventually led to Tubnet’s low player turnout, but one of them had to have been low demand; I remember people saying that there was no use re-inventing Hypixel when Hypixel already had all the Hypixel players. Regardless of if this was fair or not, Tubnet didn’t wind up developing a large player base from his fame, which unfortunately shows that not all attention rolls over equally.

Tommy has been pouring his storytelling skills into writing his live show, which he’s advertising as the best thing he’s ever written as well as his biggest self-disclosure. It’s autobiographical theatre, but also a puppet musical-- we will see what the audience reviews think. Tommy’s been experimenting the most to see that he wants to do next, I know he’s stated that 2022 was a big ‘try’ year for him and he’s also talked about focusing on the quality of viewers over the quantity because focusing on hard statistics made him miserable. I know Tommy doesn’t want to move away from Minecraft, he’s actually very tightly holding on and trying to find ways to love it again, as well as make it worthwhile for audiences. Some of the things Tommy has been saying lately make it sound like he wants to turn back time a bit, recapture what streaming and video gamed used to feel like for him when he was younger, so we’ll see what resonates with the others. There’s a lot of really dense nostalgia around Minecraft (look at these comment sections they’re haunting) and judging from his current taste in video essays he’s got a moderate case of it.

I think the pattern here is marrying the thing that you want to with what audiences want, which is infinitely harder to do than it is to say. Human motivation is fluid and weird, and not many people are going to be able to say what it is they’ll want or like until something or someone is put in front of them. What people want also changes over time, so it can be a bit like chasing the wind or catching an updraft to get in the air when it comes to getting an audience. There’s a formula for the YouTube algorithm, but there’s not a clear map for the less cheap or predictable parts of the psyche.

Even when you’ve got an audience, when it’s time to pivot over to something completely new it’s kind of time to be a whole new person to them; your function and role in someone’s life is changing. It’s rolling the dice and seeing if you can do and be something that resonates in a new form. People fall out of love with other people all the time, and I think that CCs get the same effect as the seasons change-- sometimes people change and cause a split, sometimes people stay the same and get stale over time. For the same reason that people can be ride or die because a CC is themselves, when someone falls out of love with a cc there’s not much that can make them stay if the rest of the content doesn’t deliver. I don’t see people talk about it at length, but I have seen this image make the rounds so it’s a shared thing.

Shortest answer is I think there’s no formula that can be divined outside of a retroactive twelve hour video essay breakdown of each individual’s creators strengths and weaknesses, and a matching breakdown of where the audience’s head was at. It’s much easier to look back on something specific and say ‘this is why this worked / didn’t work’ than grind out guidelines beyond ‘avoid making the audience feel completely alienated or betrayed.’ It can really come down to the audience, who can be attracted and put off by people for reasons that seem borderline intangible, like ‘authenticity.’

The good news is audiences need change and newness even if the content they like has a pattern, otherwise they would keep watching the same video. Even channels that make ‘more of the same’ put out a continuation of what they did last time, moving things along or adding to the collection somehow. Whether it’s in-character or out of character or a kind of abstract “I show up to this channel and things I like are on it,” I think people like to be able to make sense of what they’re clicking on so that they keep doing it. As long as the core remains intact, the people who are sufficiently invested in the creator tend to stick around unless life gets in the way.

As for the restlessness, I think that being on the frontier is kind of addictive. Not long ago someone pointed out to me that I had started wondering what the next big thing would be on behalf of the CCs because it’s an interesting question, especially coming off the back of the DSMP blowing up. I think that online can be a very punishing place if you don’t keep up with trends and frontiers since things change so fast, it’s rewarding if you get in early but you’re in danger if you’re left behind. This is actually as true for regular internet users as it is for CCs, think of the strangely potent social shame of using an out of date meme or not being up on the state of The Discourse, you’ll genuinely get punished if you’re too far out of sync with things. We’re in a year that is both hung over on lockdown and desperately trying to get moving again, right in the moment before the answer to what happens next is ‘obvious.’

You wanna hear about my sims?!?! Okay 🥹

A few days before my birthday, I had ordered this game called Sims Life Stories off Ebay and I've been playing it since it arrived on my birthday. It was actually the game that got me into the Sims franchise cause back during the Sims 2 era, they used to make these cool little side games for the series that centered around a specific family and had plotlines you had to follow?? So when I was a kid my dad had gotten a trial version of this game in the mail, and I LOVED IT, but I never got to experience the full storyline cause it was just a trial. Now that I've got my own money I'm playing the full game 😎 The character is named Riley and you basically help her get oriented after moving to a new city to live w her aunt. There's lots of drama and love triangles and rivlries and idk it just been so much fun reliving these old sims 2 memories. The game was soooo much richer back then

As for my main sims game, I have this family in the sims 4 where I'm on theirrr 3rd generation rn? 🤔 These hoes are messy tho so like the story started out with the original mom having toddler triplets with an unknown baby daddy, and she moved to a new apartment to start fresh. Across form her there was a cute young couple and she REALLY started liking the neighbor girl's boyfriend? Husband? Idk. So she ended up seducing him and she got pregnant with his twins and kinda ended up wrecking their marriage 😅 AND THEN I FOUND OUT THAT THE EX WAS PREGNANT TOO and I just felt so bad. But whatever.

So they got married, they had 5 kids, the mom started working in like a PR agent track and she got super famous. I forgot what the dad does but he got super famous, too. One of their daughters got famous as a teenager cause she was a musical prodigy as a kid and she started writing music as a teen, so now shes a celebrity musician.

Growing up, her triplet brother was her best friend in the whole world. The only other person she was as close to was a neighbor boy in the apartment complex down the street from her, and the three of them all became super great friends from childhood. As teenagers, she had started dating the neighbor boy and basically as soon as they turned into adults she got pregnant (with triplets. again.) and they got married.

Well. Her husband started staying out super late and acting really suspicious, and she was starting to feel super sad and anxious about it, so she went to her brother's house to vent to him and lean on him for comfort and support. And guess what she found as soon as she walked into the house.

Her husband—the love of her life, the father of her 3 kids—and her brother—her best friend in the whole world, her one true confidant—were there, making out on the couch RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER 🤨🤨🤨

So she beat her brother's ass and divorced her husband on the spot and now she doesn't talk to either of them. She's doing good now tho, she found an artist dude who she married and had kids with. I'm actually in the middle of building them a new home but eugh...I hate building...

Anyways now I'm focusing on tending to her kids and priming one of them to be my new main character once she ages up to young adulthood. She's gonna be a lesbian who meets her future wife in college 🥹🥹 and they're gonna have a cute little farm together.

So yeah! That's all the games that I'm actively playing rn. I could tell you about my other long, crazy generational one that I stopped, but we'd be here forever if I did :P
