one of my favorite developments in SCPs from series 2 onward is the gradual phasing out of Are We Cool Yet? and it being supplanted by GoIs like Gamers Against Weed or just random independent anartist cells with their ideologies. the minor issue with AWCY was that it always felt less like a GoI with coherent/consistent motives and more like a label to slap on any piece of anomalous art, as if there was some community consensus that only AWCY members could create anart. this lack of a coherent driving motive, paired with the 4chan-heavy nature of the site's demographics during series 1, led to a lot of AWCY scips that were basically just Things Wot Kill You, but with some vague intent to Stick It To The Man or whatever.

the biggest issue with AWCY, of course, was the embarrassingly cheesy way their involvement is always revealed. either the murderstatue goes on a killing rampage and then spits out a piece of paper with "Are We Cool Yet?" written on it, or even worse (and more commonly), theyll detain and interview some alleged random uninvolved bystander, who ends the interview by asking for "one last thing" like fucking Columbo before asking "Are we cool yet?" and then the postinterview notes are like "subject was released after interview even though we have literally hundreds of other examples of people saying this kind of shit and now we can't find him, subject has been designated PoI-6969420 and is being hunted down by MTF-Sigma Lemma ("Mole Rat's Right Hand")". there are multiple times when i got to the end of what was an otherwise fine article only to have that shit dropped as the punchline and groaned audibly at my phone

Denis was an orphan who only had his name Denis, no surname nor nothing so, he met people in his life, mostly his art teacher who considered them their own kid. This teacher was the one who taught him all about anart and there he developed his own techniques.

DIMV is the achronym of the names he took. Denis Ignatz Meier Vogel. Meier Vogel being her teacher's surnames and Ignatz being the name a grandma they met in one of their journeys gave them.

They barely know any other anartists like Ruiz or Pico, he knows about AWCY? but prefers not to interact with them. They are kind of a lonesome person but gets along rather well with kids.

Denis is quite eccentric but they change a lot in the modernity.

The 4 scrybes are all senior researchers, all anomalous in their own right. They have a long history together and are constantly at each other's throats. For some ungodly reason, somebody higher up thought it was a good idea to make all four of them work in the same facility. Chaos ensues.

Kaycee is the guard at that facility and Luke is the newly hired janitor. They make quick friends and their favourite hobby is watching the 4 squabble like little kids.

P03:

A sentient parasitic computer chip. Once attached (usually to the back of the neck but other methods are viable as well) it infiltrates the nervous system and seizes control of the body. Once detached, the host is completely braindead.

Either an ex-employee of Anderson Robotics or Prometheus Labs, Inc. Can't decide yet. Now employed by the Foundation.

Very much of the opinion that robots are superior beings and finds the organic life distasteful

In the process of trying to build itself a fully functioning robot body. The higher-ups know of this but don't care as long as it does its job and does it well and doesn't endanger the general public or its coworkers in its pursuit for the new body.

Specialises in the research of all sorts of technological anomalies. A glorified IT guy, really. It will help you if you broke your computer but be an asshole about it and berate you the entire time.

Magnificus:

Deer College graduate, ex-anartist, now (begrudgingly) works for the Foundation

Specialises in anomalous art (duh)

Dabbles in Thaumatology as well though the results are...dubious. Don't ever try to criticise his work though, be it his spells or art, or he'll give you hell at work.

Definitely has an inflated sense of ego.

Grimora:

Site director (god help her)

Functionally dead. A walking corpse.

Her undead status was caused by some sort of incident at work, though she refuses to tell what it was (and every time you ask her she's gonna come up with some weird, over-the-top story) and everybody who might have been present during that time is long dead by now.

Yeah, corpses don't age, so ironically enough she's technically both dead and immortal. She's very old, though refuses to say how old. Her past is shrouded in mystery. It's all classified so good luck trying to dig up any dirt on her, you won't succeed.

Leshy:

Technically dead. Covered in plants and dirt. He might still walk and his heart might beat, but the earth knows where he belongs and is trying to reclaim what's rightfully its.

Possibly the result of the same incident that killed Grimora, but both refuse to elaborate on that fact.

Keeps eluding to being a forest deity or some sort of spirit, but nobody truly knows if he's saying the truth or not. Wouldn't be the weirdest thing to happen here.

Works some administrative job, possibly a department head, because Leshy in formal wear cracks me tf up.

Luke:

Literally just a guy

Why is he here

Either very unlucky or very lucky. Keeps getting into weird, dangerous situations yet comes out mostly unharmed.

Some people are starting to suspect that he might be anomalous because of it because What The Fuck Man

Kaycee:

Just a guard working at Grimora's facility

Buddies with the senior staff (mostly Leshy and Grimora) but only to listen to the gossip between them and enjoy the bullshit going down from a safe distance

Work buddies with two other guards, Royal and Swayer

I was originally thinking about making Leshy an Ethics Committee Laison (yes girl, employ a rude murderous guy to make sure human rights aren't being violated (too much) 💜) but I think I might give that role to somebody else? They'd have their job cut out for them with these 4

You know, living in the SCP multiverse generally sounds awful, but I think it would be fun in regards to ai "art". Like, every anartist in the world would try and succeed in destroying the algorithms in the funniest and/or goriest way possible. They would probably make art that, initially, only attract the AI so they can poison the algorithms. The second effect would probably stay dormant for a couple of weeks to maximize the success rate. The foundation would probably not realize anything happened yet, so there would be no danger for the operation.

Then the anomalous effect happens, and the AIs not only generate the complete opposite of what you asked for, but also steal your souls or make your computer explode or make your face green or something. Maybe a song would make your head explode or make the entire city fall asleep. Maybe an AI cover of a song would slowly lose its sanity throughout the video, dragging you with it.

The companies would obviously receive visits from the foundation, but the only solution would be to reset everything because the virus is everywhere now. The companies would try to do it again after the destruction of the servers, and the anomalous artists would do it all again. Finally, when no AI company has any money left, they would go back to making murderous statues or whatever.

I haven't read anything SCP related in a while, so I don't know if there is something like this already, but I think it would be fun to read.

heya since youre one of the only scp fans i know, scp/tma au???? 👀 👀 except, jon and other avatars are the scps themselves instead of researchers or personnel (tho im thinking that martin, sasha and tim arent)

ALRIGHT at long last! here’s my thots. there’s a lot of stuff under the cut and it involves AWCY melanie and narrative anomaly gerry so it might be worth a read

jon is in containment! he’d essentially have his canon powers, and he’s considered euclid. his containment procedures include the exclusive use of physical locks bc he could just Know a password or keycode. additionally, interviews with him are conducted exclusively through D class who are given a list of questions to ask him so he can’t compel classified information out of an actual researcher

martin and sasha are researchers! they’re best friends in this au, and have weathered many a containment breach together after working at the same site for years. not!sasha still happens, but it’s because she’s taken and replaced through anomalous means by elias (who is the morally bankrupt site director in this scenario) because she got too close to unearthing his plans

Tim is initially an MTF operative that works closely with Martin and Sasha but defects and joins the GOC after a. the not-Sasha ordeal and b. his brother is taken in and killed by the Circus of the Disquieting. he just becomes increasingly jaded and angry and he loses his faith in the foundation to do the right thing or protect anyone

gertrude is a senior staff member a la Clef or Gears who’s both revered and resented for her merciless nature. she pretty much embodies ‘cold not cruel’ to its logical extreme. she became notorious after murdering a level 3 researcher and close personal assistant, michael shelley, to contain a reality-bending anomaly during a containment breach

unfortunately the same anomaly brought michael back and he attempted to kill her. he is currently in keter-class containment. she never visits him but sometimes she just stands behind the reinforced one-way glass and watches for a while

gerry is also in containment! he’s an anomaly a lot like scp-423, his soul was bound into an anomalous book and he now acts as a narrative entity who can move between different pieces of media. he’s considered euclid bc he’s a sentient being but is generally pretty cooperative and communicates a lot with martin and sasha to the point where he would consider them friends

elias is the corrupt site director at the site where martin and sasha work... he’s generally respected and liked but is exploiting the scips under his authority for personal gain and is specifically manipulating jon into giving him blackmail info that he’s using to work his way up through the foundation

peter lukas is the individual known as Nobody

basira is a science officer in the GOC who defects to the foundation after she sees the GOC’s methods firsthand and can’t deal with the ethical ramifications anymore. she essentially just packs up and leaves in the night without telling anyone. she wants to tell daisy, her long-term friend and partner, but is (rightfully) afraid that daisy’s loyalty to the GOC would make rat basira out 

daisy is a particularly ruthless GOC agent notorious for her involvement in the ichabod campaign, in which she and her team killed upwards of 150 type greens. she only gets more violent after basira’s disappearance, which she and the rest of the GOC mistakenly attributes to some kind of group of interest-involved killing or kidnapping

daisy ends up in foundation custody after a raid gone wrong and is confronted by the miraculously not-dead basira, which is when she begins to question the GOC

melanie is an anartist specializing in video-based anomalies... she meets georgie at an underground awcy gathering and the two start dating. although she started as Just an anartist, she becomes increasingly militant against groups like the foundation and GOC and gets taken into foundation custody after creating an anomaly specifically to fuck with them

georgie and jon were very close friends when jon was snatched up by the foundation, and georgie ended up getting heavily into anomalous stuff afterwards, getting involved with various minor anomalous groups (spent a while on the parawatch forums and the like) for a while before ultimately getting involved with the anart scene, where she met melanie. however it’s pretty much just means to an end, she’s ultimately just looking for any way that she could theoretically break jon out or just find him again and getting involved in anomalous stuff is the clearest path to that she can see. when melanie gets taken as well this gets thrown into overdrive and it essentially becomes her driving purpose

martin eventually deserts the foundation and he and jon escape to the wanderer’s library. they join the serpent’s hand and are fugitives happily ever after

In documentary photography the emphasis is solely on the what —on what’s being photographed. Everything’s  tied  to  this what. What, what, what.  This,  as  I  see  it,  is the  most  problematic  aspect  of photography. Let’s say that in artistic terms, it’s the least decisive aspect. The how —I’m talking aboutthe creative, not the technical how —is much more important. The how that is often pushed aside, not to  say  eliminated.  The  deepest content  is  to  be  found  in  the how.  True,  a  photograph  of  the assassination of a queen, even one taken accidentally by a threeyear-old, can be very interesting. It can end  up being  chosen  Photo  of  the  Year. But  that  moment  has  no  significancefor  art. When Cézanne paints “from life”,  is  the subject  the most  important  thing?  Of  course not.  The  documentary photographer  is  always in  search  ofwhat’s  happening,  of what’shappened —of  something “interesting”. And once again the photographer’s stress is almost unfailingly on the what, whereas, at least in anartistic context, the opposite should be the case. And when  you ask them about the how, the great majority of photographers are lost for words. They have no idea.(...)
