THAT EPISODE WAS INCREDIBLE IMO

I kinda wish the moon plot lasted more than like, 5 minutes though, BUT THEIR FULL CALAMITY POWERS WERE REALLY COOL SO THATS AWESOME 

On a related note it felt just a little rushed, but they had to fit all that in like 25 minutes so it’s reasonable, just wish it had been a little longer.

This episode was really good tho, literally the definition of bitter sweet, the perfect end for the show I think even if the girls leaving amphibia forever is going to make me eternally sad. If they had been able to stay though I think it might have contradicted the message, MAYBE, about learning how to embrace change, as well accept it. Man this feels like a death tho—

Marcanne (holy hot damn there’s so many asking for this)

I like this ship, it’s very fluffy and adorable. Classic childhood best friends to lovers. Thinking about it in relation to Sashanne, I’ve seen it as a mirror of it, whereas Sasha was protective of Anne to the point of being a bully, Anne was protective of Marcy to the point of her not allowing Marcy to learn from her mistakes. However pretty quickly Anne learns that Marcy is able to take care of herself (Sasha’s “Maybe your better off without me” likely playing in her head when Anne first realizes this) and then they become more on equal footing, especially after Anne learns that Marcy was jealous of Anne’s social skills that she (Marcy) doesn’t have. Marcy very obviously loves Anne with her whole heart and would do anything for Anne (it must’ve been awkward for Anne reading about how much Marcy idolizes her when going through the journal for clues on getting back to Amphibia after True Colors). After returning home I can see Anne asking Marcy for help with studying and having study dates (which Sash would crash a few and get a bit jealous on how obvious they are) and after reuniting and eventually dating after 10 years apart, Anne and Marcy would talk for hours about scientific theories relating to amphibians and reptiles (and Anne being able to somewhat understand when she overhears Marcy and Sasha talk about psychology theories).

Oh, jeez. Ori, I have. SO MANY. Uhhhhh, buckle up??? 👀 I limited myself to 3 episodes per season but honestly this show has so many fun episodes!!!

Season One

s1ep1: Anne or Beast?/Best Fronds - Episode 1 does SUCH a great job at setting up the story and tone for the show imo! It leaves a lot of things purposefully vague (how did our protag end up in this wacky alternate world? who the hell is in that photograph? etc etc) to reveal as the seasons progress, which I really enjoy! AND you get introduced to the found siblings ever with Anne and Sprig 🐸 I love them so much! While I'm mostly referring to the first part here, Best Fronds does an excellent job at establishing their relationship and their perspective on what friendship means.

s1ep9: Lily Pad Thai/Plantar's Last Stand - Even though it's more of a filler episode, I really love how Lily Pad Thai explores Anne's Thai heritage! Very near and dear to my heart 🥺 Plantar's Last Stand is alright, too, but I much prefer the first half of this episode <3

s1ep20: Reunion - Emotional Damage The Episode. Things get! Dark! Would have reduced me to tears had I not had previous associations with the background music 🥲 Also. Sasha Waybright beloved there are so many things wrong with her <333

Season Two

s2ep6: Marcy at the Gates - Introduction to the third member of my favorite trio! Marcy is very, very adorable and endearing and seeing a reunion that goes more smoothly than. Reunion. Is very sweet 🥰

s2ep10: The Sleepover to End All Sleepovers/Day at the Aquarium - BOTH parts of this episode are so very good and I cannot possibly choose a favorite between them. The girlies getting up to hijinks in a castle late at night and bawling your eyes out when it's your last day in a place you've grown fond of <333

s2ep19: The Dinner/Battle of the Bands - Once again, I literally could not choose even if you held me at gunpoint. The Dinner is very fun and very awkward and it is SO fun to see all these characters finally interact in a (sort of) low-stakes situation. And Battle of the Bands is just plain, cheesy, Disney fun! Heartstomper and No Big Deal my beloveds 💗💙💚

Season Three

s3ep7: Spider Sprig/Oliva & Yunan - OAY. Hoooooo boy. I can not even BEGIN to imagine what it must've been like to watch this live but I hadn't gotten caught up to the release dates until the Christmas special lmao. Emotional Damage The Episode Part Three 👁 (part two was s2's finale, naturally). Everyone in this episode is having a Bad Time. Spider Sprig is. Not a favorite. Sorry.

s3ep11: Commander Anne/Sprivy - Commander Anne is a really neat exploration of Anne and Sasha's relationship as they navigate how to repair some things and also like. Lead the rest of their group without falling apart at the seams. Also the source of a certain meme, thanks to Sasha's gayass blushing 💗 Sprivy is,,, okay? I MUCH prefer the first half of this episode, though.

s3ep17: All In - This episode has everything. Heartwrenching quotes from the protagonists. Mass destruction of property. Kpop. Rupaul (unfortunately). The Photograph. The girls fighting ⚔️ (part ???). Very very fun. I'd also put The Hardest Thing in here but that would be breaking my little self-imposed rules so

October 2nd. 2021. I started watching Amphibia. I had watched a little before, once in a hotel room. I only remembered some it. I didn’t think Amphibia was that special, in my head it was just a silly cartoon i could watch to fill in the gap of toh’s hiatus. I was hooked. Flash foward to october 23rd, and i posted a single meme. Overnight the meme reached 1.8k notes. I never wanted to have a tumblr, i wasnt into that type of stuff. But i did. So on that day i became MarcyWuOnTheBrain. And ive never looked back. Amphibia is show about friendship and its given me so many friends that i hold so dear to my heart. This show changed my life, it changed who i am inside. Anne Boonchuy taught me it was okay to let go on my old friendships. She taught me i should love myself for who i am.

Marcy Wu taught me its okay to be a bit weird and to enjoy the things i love. She taught me it is hard to let go, but sometimes its the right thing to do.

Sasha Waybright taught me that i dont have to be the person i once was. That im not a bad person anymore and i can change.

It really bothers me when people say Marcy didn’t struggle prior to true colors, or that she was “shielded from consequences”. Fans act like amphibia was pure wish fulfillment for Marcy, and nothing but doom and gloom for Anne and Sasha, when that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Yes, Anne did live in a cave for a month, and the wartwoodians were mean to her at first, but she quickly grew to become a beloved meme of the community, even gaining a second family.

Sasha was imprisoned, but was able to rise to power and get a cushy position within toad tower. Even after she lost the job, she still had friends she could count on, albeit not the best influences. And she later became the protector and leader of the resistance.

Marcy on the other hand? Sure, she enjoyed her time at first…except, it was all a lie. All of the good times she had, was just for the purpose of manipulating her. She open her heart to Andrias, and gave him a level of trust she never gave to her friends, and where did that get her? Stabbed in the back, and stripped of her bodily autonomy. Plus, apparently no one gave a rats ass that she was hurt. All the newts she helped apparently just went “fuck her, I never like her any way.”

Marcys experience in amphibia is essentially the equivalent of getting taken to prom by your crush, being named prom queen, and then having pigs blood dumped on you while the entire student laughs at you. It’s a wonder why she has any love for the place after that.

The New Normal anniversary rewatch part 1

XD I remember this, it was hilarious.

I really love how they decided to use wifi to have Anne confirm she was home. Like, it's not how you would think someone would do that.

Oh, kiddo. . Anne going through the five stages of grief. 1- Denial. I remember everyone was talking about this and wondering- When is Anne going to get to the acceptance stage? I'm a bit disappointed they never really showed much of Anne or Sasha's reactions to Marcy's 'death' (and prisoner for Sasha, since she knew Marcy would live)

AH WE ALL FORGOT SPRIG WASN'T THERE! Oh that was funny.

Hm. You know, I've wondered about this scene. Maybe she was finally allowing herself to think about Marcy and Sasha, and what might be happening back in Amphibia. Unfortunately, we never really get to see what she was worried about what might be happening back there.

About a year ago, my best friend introduced me to the masterpiece known as Amphibia. I was... hesitant about it, for lack of a better term. Here we are today, May 14th, 2022, having just watched the finale of the entire show.

This show has meant so much to me throughout the past year, and all of you along with it. Through the good and the bad, Amphibia has never failed to cheer me up or keep me happy, it's never failed to satisfy, and you all have never failed to make hilarious memes out of the silly frames we get when we pause the show. Okay I need to go on a short rant for a second because I’m fucking pissed off.

So in the Amphibia fandom over on Twitter, a user made a meme/running gag asking Matt Braly what Andrias’ cup size is. A few days ago they made the joke on one of Matt’s threads, and Matt got in on the joke when he replied. (”You’re asking the wrong question. Don’t you mean ‘gallon size’?”) It was a funny moment seeing the show’s creator get in on a niche meme in the fandom.

Unfortunately this attention led to the meme’s creator getting tons of hate and backlash, ranging from serious (and baseless) accusations to petty name-calling. It got so bad that the user has decided to officially retire the meme just to get some peace.

Let me repeat that: they received hate and harassment over a joke that Matt Braly himself thought was funny.

From the bottom of my heart: fuck Twitter.
