Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"No, it's this Saturday." You say, on the phone, with your bestfriend Johnny.
"Oh, but aren't we going to the bookstore that day?"
"Yeah! That won't take too long, my work dinner is at 7."
"Oh good, I thought you were trying to get out of seeing me." Johnny says with his usual sarcasm.
"Never."
"Hey, I just got to the studio, I'll see you Saturday."
"Bye!"
Saturday comes by quicker than you had expected it to. You had been working overtime every day this week so it wasn't a surprise that you had slept through the alarm you had set.
"Of course you're still sleeping."
You're startled awake from the sound of Johnny's voice right above you. "What are you doing here already?"
"It's noon. We were supposed to go to the bookstore an hour ago. But, like the gentleman I am, I let you sleep in but I'm getting bored now."
"You've been here for an hour watching me sleep?"
"You wish. Your roommates made some lunch, and I ate with them."
A twinge of jealousy runs through your body, which is absolutely unwarranted. Johnny was just a friend and a grown man; he could do whatever he liked.
You got out of bed, did your skin care, and then got dressed into your usual outfit, jeans and a t-shirt. When you went back into your room, Johnny had made your bed for you and had grabbed your tote bag.
Johnny was always doing things like this. Little acts of kindness. He didn't know that his actions gave you butterflies every time. If only you were brave enough to tell him.
You go to grab your tote bag away from him, but he moves so that you can't grab it. "I'll carry it y/n, go put your shoes on."
The bookstore was having a huge sale which is why you really wanted to go. You had told Johnny that you needed him to help you carry all the books you were going to buy, which was true, but you also just wanted to spend some time with him. Plus, you and Johnny used to read together all the time when you two were in school, and you always tried your very best to get him back into reading.
As you two browse the bookstore together, you have to restrain yourself from buying every book you see. You settle on a couple that you have been really looking forward to reading. Every time you pick up a book that you want to get, Johnny notices and grabs it from you so that you don't have to hold them.
"You really don't have to hold everything, you're still carrying my tote bag too."
"Isn't that why I'm here? You needed a big strong man like myself to help you carry the three hundred books you getting?"
"Keep talking and I'll actually get three hundred books for you to hold."
"I can handle the weight, but I don't think your wallet could." Johnny says as he walks away from you, making that fake shocked face he makes every time he disses you.
You finish walking around the bookstore, extra slowly now, to make Johnny pay for that comment. After a while though, you pay for all your books and head back to your apartment.
You two get back to your apartment and you immediately start going through all the books you bought, trying to decided which one you are going to read first. Since you slept in though, you were out for longer than expected so you had to start getting ready for your work dinner. You had almost forgotten that Johnny was still at your place when you heard the Netflix sound coming from your tv. Johnny was laying on your bed, deciding what movie to watch.
"Oh Johnny, remember I have that dinner tonight? I have to start getting ready now."
"Ok." He says, still looking through Netflix.
"Whatever." You say as you make your way over to the bathroom because you wanted to do your hair first. You decided on a straight hairstyle that was half up and half down. You still had no idea what you were going to wear, but this hairstyle would go with almost any outfit.
Once you were finished, you started on your makeup. You wanted to wear a bit more makeup than usual, as this was a fancy dinner. This took a little longer than normal, but you had always loved the process of doing your makeup because it was almost therapeutic.
Once you finally got done with your makeup, you walked back into your room. Johnny had settled on an action movie, and he was almost halfway through. You walk over to the remote that's laying by his side and press pause.
"Johnny since your here, please help me pick out an outfit."
"Ok, let me just finish this scene."
He presses play and you walk over to your closet to see your options. The main reason why your outfits usually consisted of jeans and a t-shirt was because picking out an outfit was always so hard for you. You were thankful that Johnny was here though, for the past couple of years now he definitely became more and more fashionable.
"Alright, what's the type of outfit you're thinking about wearing tonight?" Johnny says, right behind you. So close behind you that you freeze up. He reaches out his arms to start looking through what you have. This traps you in between your closet and his chest. You try to answer his question, but your mind goes blank.
At your silence he puts his arms down and steps a bit away from you. "Huh?"
You finally feel like you can breathe again. "um, yeah. I was just thinking. um, it's going to be a bit on the fancier side but not too fancy. I was thinking maybe a dress."
You watch his face as his eyebrows go up and a smile forms on his lips. "You haven't worn a dress since we were like 12."
"Not true, I wear dresses sometimes, you just haven't seen me in one since we were 12."
"Ah, then let's see your options."
You pull out the very limited amount of dresses you do own for Johnny to look through. He doesn't look for long though, his eyes immediately goes towards your blue sundress.
He holds it up and considers it for a minute before handing it to you. "This one, for sure."
"Are you sure? I was thinking maybe the purp-"
"No." He says a bit too hastily. "I mean do whatever you are feeling, but I think the blue will look really nice."
"Ok." You say as you head into the bathroom to try it on.
You put the dress on, and you had to admit that it looked really nice. You had bought it a while ago but never had the chance to wear it yet, so you were glad to finally have it on. You walk out of the bathroom and head straight to where you keep your shoes.
"Hey, wait, let me see." Johnny says as he stops you.
You turn around and do a little pose for him. "You like it?"
But instead of Johnny's usual smart remarks, he's silent. He just nods his head yes.
"Oh. Should I try on the purple dress?"
"No. Don't change." He says, softly.
You hesitantly head over to your shoes, unsure of why Johnny is acting so strangely. He's not the type to lie to you if he really didn't like the dress, but his reaction was so unlike him.
You pick a pair of short white heels to go with your dress. They're super cute while also being comfortable. You sit down and try to put your shoes on, but the left strap is giving you trouble. "Hey, Johnny can you help me-"
"I'm gonna go get some water."
Even more confused, you try again to put you shoe on and eventually get it yourself. You get up and grab your purse that's hanging on your chair. When you head into the kitchen, Johnny seems to have regained his composure, he can at least look you in the eyes again.
You're all ready to go, when all of a sudden, the lights shut off. You try to turn the light switch on and off and nothing happens. You walk down the hallway and see that all the lights in the apartment is shut off.
"We lost power?"
"How? It's sunny outside." Johnny says, looking out the window.
"Maybe it will come back on in a minute."
As you two wait, you feel a vibration going off from inside your purse. You get out your phone and see that a text from your boss was sent in your work group chat. "Hey, looks like the power is out all over the city. Apparently, there was a small fire at the city's electrical grid and the power will most likely be out for a couple of hours. The restaurant called and said we could reschedule, so the dinner will be postponed to next Saturday."
You told Johnny what happened and how your dinner got canceled. You start to head towards you room to change when Johnny grabs your arm gently. "Y/n, what are you doing?"
"I'll just change into my sweatpants, since I'm not going out anymore."
"Who says you're not going out?"
"Hm?"
"Well, it would be a shame if we let such a pretty little outfit go to waste."
You felt yourself blush. Johnny always teases you but the way he said this was different. "Where are we gonna go?"
"For a drive."
That's all Johnny says before he walked into your room and quickly came out with your tote bag. Again, he insisted on carrying it but it looked bulkier than normal, so you knew he put something in there. You decide not to question it though, still stuck on what he just said.
It had been a while since you and Johnny just went out for a drive, and you were enjoying every minute of it. He's playing a playlist that you two made together years ago and it was effectively making you both nostalgic.
After about a 15 minute drive, he pulls into a parking spot. You had never been here before, but it had a pretty view of the entire city. You two sit together for a few minutes, enjoying the music and the scenery, but after a while you had to ask him what was going on.
“Johnny, can I ask you something?" You say as you turn to face him. "Why were you acting so weird before?”
“Oh… you just look very pretty in that dress, it took me by surprise." Johnny says, not making eye contact with you, playing with the hem of his shirt. "Not that you aren’t always pretty, you are. But you usually don't wear dresses, so I guess I forgot to control my reactions around you.”
“Control your reactions?”
“Yeah, it would be kinda hard to be friends if every time I saw you I got all flustered.”
“But why-”
“You really don’t know how beautiful you are do you?
You didn't know how exactly to respond to that, your mind racing with so many questions. You settle on a question that you already knew the answer to. "You mean that in a friend way, right?"
"... No y/n."
"No?"
"You don't believe me?"
"I do, I just have so many questions, Johnny."
"Well then why don’t you let me take you out on a date and we’ll talk through all your questions.”
“You… you wanna take me out?”
Johnny looks at you and it’s like you like he’s never looked at you before. It’s weird to see your best friend with such longing in his eyes, but it’s also the very thing that you’ve been wanting for so long.
“Y/n, you don’t have to let me know right now. You can take your time and think about it. I know I just brought it up unexpectedly, but I think we both have been having feelings for each other for a while now. But I don't want to put pressure on you, just tell me yes or no whenever you know your answer.”
You two had been having feelings for each other for quite a while now. You had been going back and forth in your head about whether or not his actions were flirtatious or not for the entire past year. You turn your head to look out the car window so that you can hide the big smile on your face.
You already knew your answer, but before you could say anything you see Johnny reach into the back of the car. He’s holding your tote back and pulls out two books.
“Here, this is the book you looked the most excited about when you got it at the store today.” Johnny says as he hands you the book.
You can see that he brought a book for himself that you had owned for a long time, it was one of your favorites that you had been trying to convince Johnny to read for a while. You two sat in the car, music playing at a low volume, reading. Every once in a while, you caught Johnny looking at you and then start to read again, pretending like he wasn’t just staring at you.
It's just now starting to get darker, only a few spots of pink scattered around the sky, left over from sunset. You two put your books down to enjoy the view. You stayed like that for a while, until the pink faded. That’s when you turned to Johnny.
“Johnny?”
“Hm?” He says as he turns his head to you.
“Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Yeah.” You say as you turn your face away from him to hide your blush. You can’t see his face right now but you know the exact smile that’s on his lips right now.
You definitely had not expected this day to end like this, but you've never been more thankful for a power outage than you are right now.

Ive been wondering. Did Hajime and Izuru finally fuse at the end, or is it still somewhat Hajime, and Izuru is just rolling around in his head drinking tea like a high class individual?
I think it's never totally explained, only that somehow neither Izuru nor Hajime is gone. But here's my own (long) take on the whole shebang;
Mind you, this is just how I like to interpret things, for my own reasons! Not dissing anyone else's takes, and my only reason is "this resonates a lot with me". Also it's just my general take, maybe other people have opinions and maybe it depends on AUs and such. I implore you to remember that this is just how I like to look at the topic through my own lens.
Basically, when I'm drawing Hajime or Izuru or HajiZuru, it's Oops! All Hajime.
Hajime at the earliest that we see: student, crippling self esteem and inferiority issues, pretty brash but smart and friendly. Signs up for the Project.
Hajime (Izuru) in and after the project: No emotions, no personality, no memories. This stuff makes up a person, so he *is* effectively a different one, but it's still a Hajime. Just, one that has been completely crushed and is behaving purely on auto-logic, with no past references to go off of. The identity of Izuru Kamukura was thrust upon him, and he never really had any opinions on who he was (or, anything really).
Hajime (HajiZuru) post-game and onwards: both of those guys' memories, which are his memories, because he never really stopped being himself in the flesh. He's not the same as Hajime 1, because who could possibly be the same after that experience, but he's also not like Some Other Guy. He's the same but different, like you are the same person you were 10 but also probably fundamentally different
Like, I think of it less as different personalities in a literal sense, and more like "you're not really you when you lack everything that makes you you, and going through that much trauma changes you without removing you from yourself". Does that make sense?
To me, Izuru isn't a separate person or personality, just the complete lack of a personality in a person that's gotten their brain fucked with. They doesn't feel strongly about anything including themself and their identity, and I think someone mentioned that they use a phrase "I am called Izuru" rather than 'I am'. The lack of anything that makes up their person is what renders them almost unrecognizable from someone who was feisty and strong-minded and had some real wants and fears.
Sort of like, and maybe someone can relate, being intensely and I mean intensely depressed, traumatized and then amnesia on top of it all.
The way things have been explained to me (by a few therapists and a year of psychology, not that I'm saying I'm an expert just that it's a common way to look at it) is that, the brain makes these little pathways to have an easier time reacting to stuff. These pathways can be really fucking difficult to get out of when they're deep enough, and they tend to get deep when it feels like a matter of life and death or when they serve as a defense.
One of these pathways might be Shutting Out Emotion. Feeling feelings hasn't helped in the past, just made things worse, and Not Feeling was better than being miserable all the time, so there ya go. The tricky part is that shutting out every single emotion includes stuff like, want and need and hope (hehe) and dislike. It's hard to get out of this rut when you don't- can't- want to.
Izuru to me is what happens when a person breaks completely and the brain shuts it all away for protection because it can't deal. Being upset, in pain, angry, etc was Not Helping Hajime's situation so it all got filed away, but it's hard to shut out only certain parts, so the whole entire emotions thing got chucked out (with the help of surgeries). Brain enters complete depression mode of Nothing Feels Like Anything. And when things stop hurting, the brain is like OKAY GREAT WE DID IT. And like, it sort of did; the brain is not in constant distress anymore, so it does work as emergency protection (which is what the brain likes to do under so much duress). Also, again, surgery speedrun.
Hajime in the game gets a brain-altering kick out of this rut, that he wouldn't have managed on his own. His Big Moment was the choice to not fall into that brainpath again, even though it might be easier and more convenient (tying into my take on the theme of the ending which is to face hardships and not take the easy road out of fear or desperation or apathy). He gets back enough of memory, feeling and sensation to understand that he does want to be himself fully, warts and all, and now he can work on carving out brainpaths that let him have feelings and be himself as he chooses to be.
The idea that Want is an emotion is pretty big to me. Someone with absolutely no want, like Izuru, wouldn't really want to change, but not really want to stay the same, anyway. Doesn't want to be alive, but doesn't want to be anything else either; total apathy, which sounds like hell, except you can't really feel bad about it either. Hajime wanting to protect his friends from an impossible choice and not wanting to disappear was a deciding factor.
So, to answer the actual question lmao, in my opinion they can't really fuse since they were never different people to begin with, and they aren't separate either. It's just one guy who goes from being a normal insecure person, to having no memory or feeling, to regaining his memories and choosing to take on the mess that is The Human Condition. Izuru is just a name someone slapped on a boy that had his brain broken.
I also think that there is a danger in Hajime ever falling back into that deep deep brainpath that he was in when he was effectively Izuru. If he embraced that emotionless but admittedly incredibly convenient way of being, it would be hard to get back to wanting to get out. With time, he might have carved out an even deeper brainpath that he decided on himself, and doesn't need to worry about snapping into an emotionless fog again. Ideal ending!
(Personal [feel free to skip]: the reason I'm really About this whole narrative is because I'm currently in the stage of carving out Emotion Brainpaths myself. No forced surgery or superpowers included (I wouldnt mind the latter), but I've been in a place where feelings were so shut out there was no Want for eating or moving or breathing, no sense of right and wrong beyond objective knowledge, and lot of reckless behaviour just to see if it did anything. I'm better now though! And that's why I'm so emo about my own take on this whole narrative.)
That was a long fucking read gold star if you made it ☆

no the thing that's really killing me about this episode is that like. ray was being so sincere in all of this. that man was genuinely trying to move on, with sand! & yes, he was a little too precious about defining their relationship as anything other than friends, but that was for some really good reasons! he hasn't fully moved on from mew, he's not totally sure how he feels about sand yet, he probably doesn't want to jump into a technically-rebound relationship inevitably doomed to end with hurt feelings, & also sand's the one who told him they were only ever going to be friends. the last time he pushed that boundary with someone, he was explicitly threatened with getting cut out of their life entirely. i'm not dissing mew for drawing a line, but ray's been burned here, & very recently. he is trying to respect sand's boundaries & feelings, like sand asked him to, because he cares about sand. & yes, he over-corrected, he was a little too tentative & left sand with a lot of uncertainty, but i think he was really trying here. he was opening up to sand & learning about him in turn, spending more time with him & deepening their connection, met his mom, & i really think they could have worked through their shared hesitance & fear of overstepping. they were getting there. & then boston careened in & fucking shattered it! i am so upset
sand and ray are so heartbreaking to me on principal because it's like. here you have two very broken people, two people who have both gone through hell and back, two people who genuinely, truly care about one another, that try so hard to be genuine and honest. but they both have walls, they're both terrified, they both have skeletons in their closet, and they can't help but hurt each other.
and everything this episode was just proof of that. we get to see them spend a day together, sharing in their interesting, letting each other in, having so many sweet little moments. but they still hurt each other! it's "i don't trust you with my life" and "i'm not his boyfriend" and boston's whole thing!
and like here's the thing. objectively what boston did was wrong, he shouldn't be poking his nose somewhere it doesn't belong. it's not his business. but even without boston popping their bubble, it was going to happen eventually. because ray DOES still feel something for mew, he is still holding onto those feelings, and this new thing with sand doesn't change that. he's trying to move on, yes, but he's also limiting it. because he doesn't think he can actually be loved, which is why mew is an easy thing to latch onto. because he doesn't and won't feel anything for ray.
but sand does. which is why ray keeps bringing up the they're just friends thing. because yes, sand said it, but ray has to. ray is the one that said friendship and sex can coexist, ray was the one that said he wouldn't want sand as his boyfriend first. sand played along. and he's still trying to, but you can visually SEE how much harder it's getting for him to.
and especially now, with him realizing that ray is in love with mew? oh he's just got to feel so used. he thinks he was making it all up in his head, that ray never felt anything for him this whole time. and ray knows that sand feels something for him, it's why he's so apologetic. despite insisting they're friends, he knows. but it's not like he can tell sand that he doesn't feel anything to mew because he'd be lying and outside of insisting that they're just friends, ray isn't gonna lie to sand. especially not when it would mean hurting him even more.

Utena Rant Ahead
Tumblr media
The level of misandry in the Utena fandom knows no bounds. I'm used to misogyny in various anime fandoms (and series), but the way the Utena fandom has become in the last several years just sickens me. And it goes against the whole point of the series, defying society's expectations and reading between the lines.
For instance, fans piss all over Saionji for his abusive behaviour towards Anthy (and Wakaba, despite the fact he isn't truly abusive to her), yet they don't bat an eye when Saionji is suffering abuse, and it's made clear he's been suffering it for quite some time. And plenty of you call him 'gay,' as if it's somehow okay to use sexual orientation as an insult or criticism. That's just plain homophobic! And then there's people who get outraged by my shipping Saionji with Wakaba, because "he was mean to her," yet will ship him with Touga, who actually does abuse him, and chalk up their problems to "not realising they're gay." Now if you ship Touga x Saionji, that's your thing, you're perfectly free to do so. Ship what you want. But don't go saying Saionji x Wakaba is somehow less moral. Touga and Saionji, respectively, go through some of the worst trauma in the series, but fans barely notice. Yet when there's just a possibility that something bad was done to a female character, they scream bloody murder. Unless it's done by another female character, then they downplay it. The only female who gets called out is Nanami, the straight-up bully of the series. Yet again, there's barely a word spoken when her brother tries to gaslight and abuse her.
I am also sooooo sick of the shit these idiots say about Ruka! *headdesks* They all either accept everything he does at face value, never considering just how deep his ulterior motives go. Or they assign motives to him that he doesn't have. He never tries or even hints at believing he can "convert" Juri. He never insults her for sexuality, nor does he say same-sex attraction is wrong, the way Touga does. He instead indirectly questions Juri's reason to want someone who is "spoiled, pushy, self-centered, not to mention a liar," all of which are fair criticisms of Shiori. And oh my god, don't get me started on the kiss... First off, I've suffered real sexual assaults. An unwanted kiss is not sexual assault and I find it personally offensive when people make it out to be. If he kept at it, sure, but he didn't. The only reason he even kissed her in the first place was to distract her, so he could swipe her locket, the chain which binds her to the albatross of Shiori. When he sees her horror at his attempt to break it, he realises Juri wants to stay chained, only for Juri to start bargaining with him. Not only that, but look and listen to him when Shiori tries to drag him back to her by the arm. He knows by now that Shiori loves Juri back, but when she tells him that he's "the only person" she ever loved, he is at his wits' end. Ruka takes it personally that Shiori still keeps up the charade, despite having every reason to come clean. Ruka manipulates people in an attempt to get them to do what they should, but won't do, on their own (playing the system of Ohtori against itself). Shiori manipulates people to try to make herself feel better. She does not have the moral high ground. And I say this as Shiori kin. Seriously, I don't like people dissing Shiori, either, but she's no better than Ruka. I am just really fucking tired of the hypocrisy.

Is Flowey's literal inability to love and care about others tied to his SOULless state, his past trauma, his huge emotional and psychological baggage, or a combination of all 3?
I think it's a combination of factors. I think being soulless has impacted him, but I honestly think it's entirely possible he has some form of PTSD or depression as well. The thing with Flowey is that he's not a psychologist, and to our knowledge, he never went and got help from a psychologist. I also believe that Toriel and Asgore are really not great at meeting the needs of traumatized or neurodivergent kids. That's not a diss on either, but I think it's pretty telling in how they didn't seem to pick up on Chara's pain and bitterness in UT, and how both parents handle Kris in Deltarune. Toriel seems very passive about Kris' eccentricities and problems. She worries and cares, but the fact that their bathroom behavior is just something they do sometimes and she seems to have resigned herself to it is worrying, and Asgore is so estranged from Kris that he isn't even sure if they like big hugs or not. Asriel in Deltarune lived this very happy, successful life with tons of friends and accolades while Kris is a loner until Chapter 1 happens, and it strikes me that Toriel just... doesn't seem to know what to do. Plus even in Undertale, Toriel's gut response is that being loving and doting will make Frisk want to stay. I think both Toriel and Asgore struggle with the idea of a child whose needs can't simply be met through love. And so, with Asriel reviving as a flower, I think they'd struggle with the idea that he's changed and that their love isn't going to "fix" him, and I think HE'D struggle with that because he can't fathom the impact things like trauma would have on him, so he just resigns himself to this idea that he's unable to love when it might be more complicated. You can easily interpret Flowey's situation as a child not understanding mental illness and just assuming he is broken due to his lack of soul. Plus having the ability to rewind time over and over again probably didn't help, considering it gave him a get out of jail free card and made it so easy to see everyone and everything as just a cyclical game of sorts.
But post-game, he does seem to be able to care again to some degree. Whether that's because he worked through his trauma, retained some residual compassion from his time as Asriel again, or something else... well, there's a lot of room for interpretations!

The abuse of every woman in his sphere started and has gotten to this level because of his indifference and inability to shut the perpetrators up. He never did it when his co-star was constantly attacked and bullied in his name and won't do it for any woman he may or may not be with. Quite often he instigated and approved the dissing of C while fully aware that would only embolden his followers, which it did. Fans are to blame for their own vicious behavior but S also bares responsibility because he never stepped in to stop them. One word from him would have gone a long way. Instead, he used fans and every woman close to him for self gratification and personal gain.
Tumblr media
It's an interesting discussion and maybe even an important one. I try to see it from both sides, or perhaps even there are 3 sides involved. Put myself in their shoes, imagine their motivations and see the pro's and cons and potential consequences of their actions.
In no particular order:
The women involved You don't need an eyeglass to see which women he's interested in. About all of them expose them in a way that, mildly said make people think it is justified to call them all kind of names. Of course it isn't justified to do so, we're not living in the middle ages and there's no need to crucify them. But I have to admit, looking at the IGs made me often sigh and think, why do you think it is necessary to expose yourself in that way? I know, you can be proud of your body, and I know showing off your T&A (if you have them flaunt them) is gaining more attraction then when you're looking like a secretary with spectacles in a nice little suit with a skirt up to your knees. Sure.. but it's a 'certain' kind of attraction. No sweat, I don't mind some skin, but have to say, sometimes it's just a little too much.
Next to that, we are often lead to these ladies, either by a follow of him or people associated by him. Blame it on him... or... what about how we find our confirmation not because of a picture of them both but simply because the women are posting their whereabouts and leads us to find and connect the dots. A beach house in Hawaii, the restaurants and night clubs in Paris and then someone's getting papped. Yes, okay, should they not post? Well even then, in this last case no posts at all, and still...
In any case, it doesn't justify vicious behaviour in anyway from 'fans'.
I have to add to this chapter that C is of course in no way to put on the same level as the above described women in relation to S. She was attacked and bullied simply because she didn't go by the narrative that part of the fandom put on her. So that's another story than the above women. I wanted to make that clear.
Sam He's bares responsibility and he keeps making it a show which gives prominence and terrible optics. (I quoted both of you Anons, you put it down very eloquently).
There were tacky posts, the in bed with Eddie the cat and the pancakes in the kitchen of the house C lived in before, I can see how this has put people on a (wrong) track and instigated discussion that were not beneficial for his co-star but for him they were. Were they innocent, like he didn't think about it? Even though he shows he's not always sharpest knife in the drawer, he surely knew how this would lead to shenanigans.
The Hawaii show, ugly. All the way, his responsibility as well as that of GM posting daily records to us. It was very amusing to watch the whole show (gotta admit) but at the same time seeing how she got abused was horrible. Perhaps you can say this was one of the times he did speak up with his 4 page rant. And he did mention how people associated with him are affected and receiving dead threats. Though what was his motivation, not only the abuse but (and perhaps most) because he was in jeopardy himself, being called out about his covidiocy which he never addressed appropriately. So I would say, wrong timing and in that 4 page rant throwing everything in but the kitchen sink was not really standing up for others, or shut the perpetrators up. These are some examples, there are absolutely more. But I'm afraid that would make me write a whole book.
I also wanted to go into 'his indifference and inability to shut the perpetrators up'. Now I can see how you can go back and forth on it. When is it time to speak up, do you not give extra air to this when you're going to speak up about it. And if he speaks up, is he admitting at the same time his 'brief hookups' (and I put that between quotes because you can have numerous interpretations of what it is)? If he speaks up is it really going to shut those perpetrators up? I don't think it would shut people up, but I do think it shows the support of the people affected. Also in case of his co-star, you named it Anon, a number of times showing approval in a passive aggressive way. He never spoke up about the dissing of his co-star. I felt astonished a number of times how he retweeted persons (his fans) that obviously are the same that dish her and bully part of the fandom that do not praise him into heaven but have a more realistic view on him and question things from time to time.
The 'fans' It's one thing to discuss things here on Tumblr, and that includes me and my blog. You could accuse me from exposing these women that eventually leads people to their IG. Well, actually only this last one, and apart from that I posted some videos of his Paris trip with AM. It's not an excuse, but if I wouldn't have posted it, someone else would have. I wasn't even here during GM, and AM got named on another blog. At least I try to have a decent and open discussion on this blog and put things out here as they are. What we don't do is tagging them or him and nobody is forced to come here and read about it, including him and all the women involved.
However it's a whole other game to go to their IGs and leave horrible comments, have vicious discussions and even go into racism. I simply can't understand in anyway why people are doing this, how they can sleep at night and feel good about doing it. It's disgusting, and never justified to do so. Not in any way. Not even when you say the women involved and S have their responsibility too. That still doesn't justify these terrible actions. I can not see it in any other way. The consequences of these actions are that people are hurt, things only get worse and even can lead to something very unintended. If you haven't seen 'The most hated man on the internet' yet, go and see it. Then you know what I'm talking about.
End conclusion We all are part of this, we all have a responsibility in it, and we should all think about the consequences of our actions, we, them, and him.

It sucks that Charles is getting the backseat, but he isn't some victim like that anon is implying. HE wants to be in Ferrari despite everything. They have been doing him dirty wayyyy before Lewis was even rumoured?? So even if Charles did have options, he wouldn't have taken it regardless.
Also, he seemed to be fine with Lewis as a potential teammate (this was before it was official) and while you could say "he was never going to diss Lewis on camera," I think Charles just doesn't gaf who is in the team with him. All he wants is Ferrari to get their car and strategy together.
True. I’ve still a hope in Fred to make his French Revolution, in Ferrari garage, with all his changes. 😭
He seems to be a clever bald and sneaky man against Elkann. 😂

Watched the seventh episode of LEGO DreamZzz: Loved it!
Do I sound redundant? Absolutely. Do I care since I keep enjoying this show so much and I want the world to know? ABSOLUTELY NOT LET'S GET GOING 🤩
Also yeah I made, like, two plotlines in my head about headcanon Mateo anomaly since last time... FANFICTIONS BABY 😎😎😎
CHEAT CODE
... why do I feel like Logan is gonna do something stupid? 😅
I love Mateo's character, is very real to me. In the Dream World he is getting more confident, he's the one that comes up with the plans, while in the Waking World he's still battling his insecurities 💕💕
LOOK AT THIS CUTIE I WOULD JOIN YOUR TEAM IF I WASN'T NOWHERE NEAR MIDDLE SCHOOL 😂😂
Sorry mom moment over also where's his and Izzie's mom
Figures Logan was gonna intervene...
Nuuuuu I thought we put the derogatory Mattie behind, come on Logan stop doing one step forward and two backwards! I WANNA CHEER FOR YOU DANG IT 😡
As of now I'm pretty sure Zoey doesn't dig any of you, and I say it with my heart 😂
Aww they got their bunks on the tree now! I was wondering what those things were, that a cool landing
Not a complain but if feels like the plot is moving forward a bit slowly. This is either the established pace and the finale will pick it up, or there's hope for season 2 and everything now is basically to explain
NEVER MIND THAT IT'S GAME TIME 🤩🤩
This gives me massive Ninjago Rebooted and Prime Empire vibes, hopefully no one will die here 😵‍💫
Rivalry happening of course 🤣
I wonder what Zoey's up to...
The terms are kinda interesting to me. Logan wants dibs on asking Zoey to join his team, most likely because Mateo wanted to ask her. Mateo didn't do the same and instead went directly for Logan, likely still very salty from when he left their team
I like that we're slowly exploring more of them, they seem to really want to be obstacles to each other, but also aren't able to ignore each other
I'm usually annoyed by these shenanigans but they're really young here, so honey I find this clumsy and kinda cute 😂
What are we playing then?
YOU DID NOT MAKE A COOKING MAMA REFERENCE I'M DYING 😂😂😂
And do not diss the game, I love it!
OMG Z-BLOB JUST WINKED LOOK AT THAT LITTLE BUDDY I LOVE HIM SO MUCH AAAAAAAAAA- 💚💚💚
Another interesting part to me is this one, like, in the real world you know that Logan would totally own Mateo. But this is the Dream World and Teo is really good at dream crafting, something Logan isn't. I wonder if Logan is self conscious over not being able to craft like the others
MAT AND Z PLAYING TOGETHER IS GIVING ME LIIIIIIFE 💚💚💚
Who is this obviously shady guy?
Ooohhh, I see where this is going, but good on Logan for initially refusing. Yeah I'm pretty sure he hates how he can't craft well, big insecurities play here
This is annoying to see though, imagine you're playing and the blue guy JUST WON'T DIE DANG IT 😡
Aaaaaand everything is falling apart
Cooper is always breaking up their fights, but I wonder if he wants to preserve peace or he just can't handle them fighting. We never saw his opinion of this rivalry, he's just here to be friends for the both of them
Not sure if we're ever going to talk about it
Heeeeyy, Logan saved Mateo! For once... saying whatever... sweetie stop being this inconsistent, please, I know you can be a softie when you want 😅
WAIT WAS ZOEY BAKING?! WAS THAT BAKING PAPA?!?! OMG ZOEY MY APPRECIATION FOR YOU IS RISING!! 🤩
I... did not expect the robot to just start shooting everyone 😂😂
Guardians of the realms, interesting...
Nuuuuuu more PTSD for poor Izzie, don't take another one of her plushy friends away from her please 😭 I'm so happy Teo is such an understanding brother in this
Logan saying "Idk that thing looks sick" and Cooper being like "Dude she's right there please read the room!" 😂😂 That's one of my favourite parts of this episode
SHE WAS! ZOEY WAS PLAYING THE GAME! I FLIPPING LOVE HER! 😍😍😍
LEGO got very strong female characters, got Nya, got Macy, but it's nice to see the lone wolf with a soft side too 💕
Hi prof, we made a whoopsie here 😅
Okay seriously, everyone is so wonderful to Izzie and her situation! No mockery, no forcing, they're like "you stay here, we go this!"! Look at Zoey too! Despite her distance I think she already thinks of Izzie as her friend 💕💕
AND LOOK AT IZZIE OVERCOMING HER FEARS AND JOINING IN AAAAAAAAAA I LOVE THESE KIDS SO MUCH!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Logan still needs work though
It pains my heart seeing Mateo sometimes, like, look at him being in charge without a second though! If he was confident like this all the time, he could achieve so much more. I'm a sucker for low self-esteem character finding their spark, I'm enjoying his rise a lot! 💚💚💚
Love me a good LEGO fist bump 😎😎
GOOD JOB EVERYONE EVEN YOU LOGAN EVEN THOUGH I STILL HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH YOU 😅
Ah, Mateo and Logan moment, alright these kids are going somewhere!
Mateo said that Logan is a good teammate, and I agree. His problem is that he struggles with others taking charge instead of him, but I don't think he's made for leadership. Mat is great at leading, the moment Logan realizes that, the team will get better
OH-OH THE NIGHTMARE KING KNOWS LOGAN GOT ISSUES ABORT ABORT WHAT IS GONNA HAPPEN NOW??? 😱

the racism was uncomforable in the headless horror my other problem with it was how the guy just took his wife putting him in the hositpal as no big dea.... it just felt so unbelievable..
relationships in this show are very..strange to me... we got velma abusing shaggy/ velma the smart one being jealous of scooby/ fred showing zero interest in daphne until the plot demands it/ daphne/velma alone come off too pushy that it gets uncomfortable/ and thats just season 1
season 2 i wont spoil much cause im not sure how far ya are. im only about 5-6 eps in but i ididnt want to see a jealous fred act like a crazed ex but they decided woo its comedy to kidnap your ex girlfriend/ and again we have a women being weird to shaggy but an old women so its 100 times worse and just played off as a joke.. this show is just mean to shaggy
so how this show was recommended after velma is beyond me.. at best the background animation is good and we got the voice of kronk/ and frank welker is having fun i think tis amazing he can still do him so well at 70 / but they can only do so much to make it bearable with all the romance drama/ plot twists it reminds me of a cw show but animated
yeah like that's what i mean when i say this show really just isn't written well. there are some really cool concepts, but rarely are they executed to their fullest potential. characters make choices not based on their own personality and goals, but for the convenience of the plot and creation of conflict, which often leads to some really unfortunate side effects when you actually think about what's happening. as an example i wanna break down the fred and daphne thing, but this kind of writing is present throughout the whole first season (which is all i've seen so far, though i've heard a decent amount of things about season 2, but i'll try to stick to what i've personally watched for the most part)
like, at first fred shows no interest in daphne beyond friendship, but is a pretty good friend to her, while daphne is head over heels for fred to the point that she has basically no personality outside of that. yet, there isn't anything about fred that she actually likes. in the first episode she says that he's like one of those geniuses that's isn't appreciated in their time, but it's clear from later episodes that her and the rest of the gang think that he's stupid. beyond that, everything he says is annoying or boring to her unless it's him showing her romantic affection, and even then, only in certain ways.
later in season 1, fred suddenly switches from having no romantic interest in daphne to being in love with her, for no discernible reason. we know he didn't just secretly have a crush on her before, because we know that when he shows interest in someone he becomes incredibly jealous and possessive, and in episode 3 (before he liked her) he was totally supportive of her going on the date with rung. she ends gets so upset about him not reciprocating her feelings in the way she wants (as if she's owed that or something) and for having the audacity to like things that aren't her, that she writes a diss track about him and rejects him when he actually DOES reciprocate her feelings.
then there's that whole thing where he asks her on a date to the trap museum, and she gets really mad about it… for some reason? it's apparently because he makes everything about traps instead of her? she then gets all googly-eyed over a teacher, fred gets jealous, and then daphne says that she has the teacher's phone number and that they're planning on going on a date… at the trap museum. which either means: 1. she doesn't actually mind learning about traps and she's just annoyed that he's continuing to have an interest in the thing he's interested in for no reason, or 2. she's lying about having a date with the teacher, and is just saying that to hurt him. also, side note, the show never addresses or even implies that there's anything wrong with the teacher/student relationship aspect of all this. like, at all. the issue being presented here is that daphne's making fred jealous, because they liiiike each other~. at the end of the episode he calls her his girlfriend, and suddenly she's totally not mad at him anymore and is like "oh i would LOVE to go to the trap museum with you"… even though he was LITERALLY asking her out on a date at the beginning of the episode! which means he thinks of her as his girlfriend! nothing changed! she just changed her mind because it was time for that conflict to be over.
then fred and daphne are together and it's pretty much fine for a while, but then fred starts acting really controlling about her, almost verging on stalker territory. he starts making a list of all her habits and whereabouts, keeping track of her schedule and trying to control her and their relationship. she becomes (rightfully) uncomfortable with this, and says to velma it's giving her trust issues. she doesn't really talk about it to him directly, instead she asks a spirit board about the issue in front of him and he notices. later they actually DO talk about it, he apologizes for his behavior and it's chalked up to him being overprotective because of his issues over his absent mom. the one that scooby said was hot. that part's not relevant but i think it bears mentioning. anyway i actually felt like the way this conflict between them was handled fairly decently for this show. fred has an obsessive personality so this being a character flaw makes sense, daphne not talking to him about it right away and being a little immature about addressing it makes sense fits because she's a teenager, and they did talk about it and work it out. the problem doesn't come from this specific episode but the fact that fred… doesn't actually stop being controlling about daphne in later episodes (like i know about the kidnapping thing and doll with her real hair and the getting mad at/bullying marcie for not being daphne… ugh. don't even get me started on the way the gang treats marcie.)
then fred ends up proposing to daphne out of nowhere (they're still in high school btw), saying he wants her to solve mysteries with her forever, and she's over the moon about it. she gets really into it and starts planning right away, wanting to one-up her sisters and all that. when she tries to talk to fred about wedding stuff though, he's totally disinterested, and she continues to be disinterested in anything about him that doesn't revolve around her. great basis for a future marriage /s. they end up telling their parents who don't approve, velma and shaggy get mad at them for not telling them about the engagement, yada yada, whatever. at the end of season finale when the truth comes out about fred's past, he calls the engagement off completely because he wants to find his real parents, alone. the guy who is supposedly all about the team and wanted them to all move in together after high school and to solve mysteries together with daphne forever… wants to solve the mystery of locating his parents on his own. why??? well obviously because the writers want to separate them all for the dramatic ending, of course! and they didn't bother to set up any real justification for that beforehand that would actually make sense.
what's worse though is if you think about that ending from a totally in-universe perspective, it makes fred look REALLY bad. like, he proposed to daphne to keep her bound to him forever, but the second it felt more convenient to not have her around, he throws her in the garbage? AND continues to be obsessive and controlling about her later?
i think fred being controlling can be a good character flaw to have, in fact be cool scooby-doo did that really well in my opinion, but when you apply that character flaw to a romantic relationship, i think you have to be REALLY careful about how you portray that, and the show doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to condemning toxic behavior like that. plus, the level of control can only go up to a certain point severity and persist for a certain amount of time before it stops being an innocent mistake.
and this is just. how the show is written. in general. characters do nonsensical things for the convenience of the writers, which often paints them as being petty, fickle, and shallow. they often do mean or selfish things purely for the purpose of creating conflict and nothing else, which makes them come off as being bad people. im not opposed to shows where the characters are deeply flawed or even the villains, but it really doesn't feel like it's on purpose with the main 5. their bad behavior is often justified or left uncriticized or unpunished
when velma's hitting shaggy (and doing so hard enough to hurt him) for talking the way he talks, fred and daphne completely ignore it. the only one who cares about it is shaggy, who's later villainized for breaking up with the girl who abused him, demeaned him, and tried control him, after she gave him an ultimatum to get rid of his best friend! a member of their team! do fred or daphne ever tell her, "hey, scooby's our pal, and asking shaggy to get rid of him is really selfish of you"? nope! she continues to go on and on about how "he left her for a dog" for the whole rest of the season, and plenty of other characters throughout the show sympathize with her or mock shaggy for his (correct) choice. nobody ever stands up for him or defends him at all.
there's not even any discernible reason why any of them are interested in each other romantically. hell, there's no discernible reason why any of them are friends at all! well, besides velma and daphne bonding over their shared entitlement to the boys they're into, and similar shallow romance drama and other stereotypical ~girl things~. i wouldn't even say they all share a love for mystery solving-- shaggy and daphne don't seem like they could care less about that, and even fred and velma don't feel like they like it as much as every other iteration of those characters i've come across. fred mostly just cares about setting traps and nine times out of ten velma would rather angst over shaggy or get a pedicure with daphne than focus on the mystery. they solve mysteries together because that's what's dictated by the show they're in. that's it. they're not even very good at it! in the first half of season 1 mr. e is holding their hands, guiding them through some of the most obvious and clear-cut mysteries i've seen from this franchise. the writers try to make them look smarter by deliberately not showing key clues to the audience (who can probably figure it out anyway by ruling out the obvious red herrings and paying attention to the basic structure, even if they're given 0 clues or motives that actually incriminate the character), and this just makes the reveals feel cheap, and further highlights how ridiculous some of the explanations are.
and i could just keep going, really, but i won't because this is already getting really long.
like i said, there's some cool concepts and ideas here, and every once in a while there will be an episode or scene or line that's pretty good. the backgrounds are nice, same with the designs of a lot of the monsters. i liked the episode with the orc biker gang, i thought the frighthound was really creepy, i like there being an overarching plot and getting to see the gang's school and home lives, i like there being an old mystery incorporated, i like fred being autistic (even if the representation there is flawed), i love fred jones sr (i guess since they make all the characters selfish assholes, it turns out that when that's what they're supposed to do, they do a pretty good job), etc. if this show had different writers, ones that think things through, can write women, that don't perpetuate toxic relationship dynamics or sexualize teenagers, that know how to craft mysteries with proper pacing and intrigue, that have a grasp on humor beyond cynical mean-spiritedness (which sometimes bleeds into outright bigotry), it probably WOULD be the best scooby-doo show.
and yeah, it's really ironic that this was the show everyone was recommending as an alternative to hbo's velma, because it seems like they share a lot of the same problems, velma's just a lot less subtle about it.

No one asked, but I really wanted to answer it!
Ask game.
3 - 3 films you could watch for the rest of your life and not get bored of?
And I actually have 4 so... Here we go!
Treasure Planet. So underrated, which is totally unfair. Beautiful story and one of the few (if not only) Disney movies that don't have a love interest for the MC. It's all about growing up and finding yourself and found family. In fact, just realized, Jim is like Stag in that regard. Both were abandoned at a young age by their fathers and became rebellious to the point of being impossible to deal with until their father figure came into their life. And also, never having a father of my own to look up to, this really resonates with me. Haha, Deshi's dad left him at a young age too. I'm sensing a theme. 😆 Unlike Stag though, Deshi doesn't need a father figure in the sense that he's not looking for one nor does he find one. (Although Lord Carroll does get close...)
Sinbad, another underrated film. By Dreamworks this time. The most alluring part of this film:
Tumblr media
That fucking hair!!! Man, I could just watch how her hair flows forever. Like, nobody has ever made hair that moves like this before, or since! It's close to underwater hair, but not quite, so Little Mermaid doesn't count. But seriously, that fucking hair. And Sinbad is pretty funny. 😆 Most quoted scene between Deo and I, a dude gets thrown up by a sea monster, shakes it off, and goes to attack again. "Give that guy a raise." -Sinbad Yes, please. He deserves it. 😀👍
Anastasia. I loved this movie growing up. Rasputin what such a terrifying bad guy, and Anastasia was anything but weak. Despite it not being a Disney flick at the time, it broke the mold on Disney princesses. Tangled and Frozen hadn't come out yet and Anastasia was the only princess to do what she wants, when she wants, how she wants. Instead of the man saving her from some evil villain, he saves her in the very beginning from a threat to the royal family. And then she saves herself from Rasputin at the end. Well, and Dimitri, because, you know, he was hanging off a bridge. So many movies before this were misogynistic and so many after are so feminist that they really diss on males, but in Anastasia, they are equals simply facing the world together, and to me, that's just beautiful. And this:
Tumblr media
And last but not least, A Little Princess. This is an older movie about a girl whose father travels the world. These two have a close bond and one day, he has to leave her because he needs to fight in a war, and over night, she becomes orphaned at a boarding school, so she becomes enslaved to the headmistress. Even after such tragedy struck her, she still believed in magic and told stories to the other girls. There was always this sort of mystery to her. Where others saw color, she found friends. Where others saw weakness, she saw opportunity. She's kind throughout the entire thing, and so much bad is thrown at her! Annie, eat your heart out and make way for A Little Princess. She always believes that magic is real, and when she falls, she gets back up again, even though sometimes it takes a little time. She's patient and accepting and just everything little girls everywhere should aspire to be. And in the end, she gets the honor of seeing that if you keep believing, the magic is real.
And those are my favorite films I could watch over and over again. ^^ I'm curious, how many have you seen of these? I feel like they're all a little underrated, outshined by other movies at the time. Poor Sinbad had to fight with Pirates of the Caribbean. A Little Princess got overrun by Pocahontas and Toy Story. Lilo and Stitch came out the same time as Treasure Planet. Anastasia isn't as underrated as the others. 😅 If you haven't seen one of these, highly recommend. I mean, I'd be okay watching them on repeat, so, yeah. Thanks for reading! And I'm still open for some personal asks if anyone's interested. ^^ And I'm totally willing to redo 9, since the last one was so entertaining. Fair warning though, that was probably my best story, lol. Have a good day!

20 fanfic questions
Tagged by @swaps55 (thank yooooou)
Tagging: do you wanna do it? man just do it. have fun. go ham.
How many works do you have on AO3?
26
2. What's your total AO3 words count?
216,983
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently? It's mostly Dragon Age and Mass Effect, but I've also written hockey rpf, popslash (which is not included in the works count or the word count), Supernatural, SPN RPF, LotR, the Hunger Games, and Julie and the Phantoms.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
What Remains - SPN, Dean goes missing, Sam tries to find him
Shape I'm In - hockey RPF, Tyler takes a hard hit during a game, Jamie gets in a fight, this is the aftermath
Never Lived a Time Better Spent in Love - hockey RPF, Sid/Geno many years down the line, adopt a baby together
Actually, Plenty - SPN, a coda to What Remains set 15 years after that story
Everything Changes, Everything Stays the Same - SPN, Sam rescues Dean from hell, things change for them after that
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always, I've had people comment about the fact that I'm still responding to comments on fifteen year old fic. If you're going to read and take the time to comment, I'm gonna say thank you. Plus, community is the best part of fandom, how can you have community if you're not talking?
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh it's for sure lathbora viran which is the only story I've written that I had to tag "no happy ending." Although honestly swaps would probably say that For a Single Yesterday was also pretty fuckin' angsty. But Kaidan finds peace, my poor inquisitor absolutely did not.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably my Julie and the Phantoms fic, gravity, though I did absolutely take people through the ringer first.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
When I first got into hockey I ended up on the anon hate list for a hot minute because it was obvious from the first fic I posted that I didn't know anything about hockey because, well, I didn't. I'd never watched it before I got involved in the fandom. So it was valid criticism even if it was mean spirited.
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
The smuttiest thing I've ever written is a PWP threesome for the Oilers boys called Hold You Down. I enjoy reading smut but as a noted ace I feel awkward as fuck about writing it.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Yes. Crazy is such a subjective word, but I've written the hockey dudes into the Pacific Rim world and I fixed the shit about the Pac Rim world that never really made sense. I had a much more in depth story plotted out but I lost steam on writing RPF.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I've ever been told?
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, but that fic is no longer online.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Twice. I had fun both times but prefer to set my own pace through a fic.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I don't really have an all time to write, they're all my favorites.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I still feel very guilty about a popslash WIP that I know will never be finished.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Pretty prose.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I try to avoid writing action sequences because I have no idea how to make them sound cool.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If I can have a native speaker assist, yes. If I have to run it through google translate, absolutely not.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I was writing extra scenes into the Princess Bride when I was 12 years old.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Idk, they're all my children. I love them all equally. I think in general I'm most proud of the Julie and the Phantoms fic, because I just really feel like I nailed the thesis of it, because I had a thesis, and it wasn't just "a meets b and they fall in love." (Which isn't a diss, this is what I usually write, that fic was just different.) But yeah, they're all my favorite. YOU tell ME which your favorite is.

I don't fault either Simone or Charithra's interpretations on their characters' feelings too, like fans throwing shit at Charithra or saying stuff like "she must've watched a completely different version of the season" fail to understand the fact that the actresses are trying to make sense of a plotline that can't even stand on its own to begin with. Why is Anthony apparently the FIRST person to ask Kate what she wants? Like do the writers want me to interpret Kate's character as deliberately hiding her true feelings and wants or am I supposed to think that even her own father neglected her emotionally and never took what she wanted into consideration? And the part about Mary not even knowing about the dowry like you said makes no sense. I get that Kate took up the main money responsibilities but some parts literally don't add up because it makes both Edwina and Mary not just look like plot devices, but literal blank slates who apparently never considered to ask Kate "hey, where's our money? How much do we have left for a possible dowry?" in like, 8 years. Kate needed Mary to get Lady Danbury to host them, right? Why would Mary just simply agree to this as if a) there aren't any men in India of good status whom Edwina could've aspired to marry, b) the trip to London must've cost a good amount of their own money, and c) she would want to be back in London after knowing she'd face gossip about her reputation which could arguably affect the chances of her daughter getting a husband. Also, even the headcanon fans run around with saying that Kate couldn't have left Mary and Edwina be destitute while she married another man is baseless because this is 8 years we are talking about. Take into consideration their living costs, Edwina's tutors payments, the trip to London. If they were poor to begin with Kate wouldn't have been able to wait 8 years just so Edwina could grow up. This isn't to find fault in Kate's character but in the lack of common sense any of these writers put into when writing their backstory. And I get that neither of Kate's actual parents were given names in the books but if they had time to fit in all of Simon's backstory in S1 with his mother, Lady Danbury and then his father, the very least they could've done is give Kate and her family the same narrative focus and treatment.
Yup!! Before the Sheffield dinner, I actually thought Mary knew about the dowry. This isn't shade to Mary because I don't dislike her character, and the writing is so awful for her there is nothing there to dislike. But for it to be even the slightest bit believable that Mary knew nothing about the dowry, she would have to be a completely absent mother. Because it makes no sense for all the reasons you stated. If Mary didn't know about the dowry, why did she agree to spend the last of their money to come to London? A place where Kate probably barely remembered and Edwina had never been to. Wouldn't she have thought it better for Edwina to marry a man in India? I mean, what did Mary think was going to happen? If she knew about their lack of finances, how does she think Edwina would be able to marry in England without a dowry? Why would Mary believe that moving to England is a good idea if she doesn't know about the dowry? For it to make sense, it would mean Mary just defers to Kate and has allowed everything to fall to Kate for eight years and never even once tried to do anything. Which, in all honesty, makes her apology, in the end, feel hollow. Again this isn't to diss Mary because her character is just a victim of bad writing. They could have killed Mary off, and they would only have to rewrite like two scenes because it would barely affect the plot. The show had no idea what to do with her.
With Kate, I think they wanted to age her up, but they also needed a reason for her to be unmarried, and this is what what they came up with. An unmarried woman is more of a burden on their finances, but that's the writer's fault. They put so little effort into Kate and Sharma's backstory. Some things people say about the Sharmas completely ignore the historical reality of women during that time (like calling Edwina a gold digger). Women had limited options and limited ways to support themselves or their families. Marriage was one of them. You can’t look at regency marriage through modern lenses.
It's honestly wild that the writers had Kate literally state 'my mother had a name' and then never even say what it was. While I would have preferred to see less of Jack and more of the Sharma's, I think the writers could have done a better job developing the Sharma's with the screentime they had. They just chose not to.

Hi! I just read your post on Nemma and Noah's characterization in RR and, although I actually really like Nemma, I totally agree with you about how nuts the writing was. But it made me curious so I decided to ask: what are your thoughts on Emma as a character? I quite like her, but I prefer Kitty lol.
Hello! Nice to hear from you, and I'm glad n*mma worked for some people. As for Emma, I'm going to be honest - I don't know what to make of her. The first (and last) time I watched RR, I really tried to like her. I didn't want to be one of those people who hated the female love interest for getting in the way of their gay ship. And I accomplished that, I don't hate Emma. But I don't love her either. Perhaps I should love her. She's a bit like Courtney - not as extreme and so not as interesting imo, but she's still a mean girbloss. And I like evil women. Hell, I like Amy from Pakhitew and the only thing she ever did was be mean to her sister. And I enjoyed every second of it. That girl was so evil it crossed into camp. Considering all those things, Emma should have been easy favorite. But ehh, didn't happen. And I think that's more on me. The more I force myself to like something, the more attention I pay to the flaws. The more people tell me something's bad, the more I look for the good things. It's like I always want to prove someone wrong, whether thats myself or the public. But enough about me, let's talk about Emma:
IMO, Emma has three main things going for her during RR. Her relationship with her sister, her relationship with Noah, and her trust issues regarding alliances. 1) The sister plot. I have mixed feelings about how this plot began, because yeah, Emma was pretty mean. Which I should like, because I liked Amy. But I was never supposed to like Amy, so I did. But I was supposed to like Emma. Emma's a protaganist. So I didn't. 💀 That being said, even I can't deny how well this plotline resolved. Her problem had been her putting the competition ahead of her sister, but for her to accept defeat because her sister was more important? Chef's kiss. Masterful writing. Great message for the kiddies and adults alike.
So yeah, mixed feelings, but overall, I'd say it was Good. 2) Her relationship with Noah. Yeah, no. You already saw me diss this ship, which, sorry. But I will be nicer this time! Despite my dislike, It does solve the problem of her not being over her ex. That's good, that she could find love again. And tbf, I think it does make sense that she likes Noah, or at least more sense the other way around. Since she's allowed to dislike him first, it's not insta-love. And once Noah proves himself by always trying to impress her and help him out, like.. yeah of course she likes the guy who's dedicated to being her simp. I too would grow to like someone who liked me. So what's the problem? Ehh, it's her weird comments. She compares Noah's ass to apples, when the guy is flat af. Emma says Noah's funny in his least funny season, then laughs at one of Noah's jokes, before admitting she doesn't get it. Like, it feels like the writers weren't sure of how to make Noah appealing without making Emma a little insane. The family thing, the hair fish thing, the obession over him even when he's gone. I know that's her thing, that Emma is slightly obsessive. (And I'd be a hypocrite to hate Noah's SO being slightly obsessive. Like that isn't the whole plot of my Noco fic. But uhh, I use it as a way to deconstruct anxiety, neglect, and talk about the importance of consent. TD doesn't do that with Emma. It's just a funny weirdo thing she does 😜)
And perhaps that would be fine and quirky. Not everything has to deep. And that's true. Unfortunately, I'm an ex BNHA stan. For those who don't know about the manga, good, but also there's uhh some Sexist Writing in there. In this specific case, I'm talking about Deku and Ochako. Deku is the main hero guy, and Ochako is the love interest. They both start off as capable heros with their own unique motives, yet as soon as Uraraka started liking Deku, everything became about him. Every fight she thinks of him, 99% of her plot and screentime becomes about him. She stops being a character on her own and more a sattelite that revolves around Deku.
Now, TD didn't do this with Emma. She is still her own character after Noah is gone, and arguably a better one. But still, her continuing to think about Noah to the point of getting distracted rlly bothers me. It's like war flashbacks to 2018. So no, I don't think N*mma was a successful plotline for Emma, because while it did solve her problem ✅ and did kinda make sense ✅ it made her annoying to watch. ❌ And I hate Nemma, so BOOO! Negative points!!
3) But what about her thing about not being able to trust people? And I don't mean men, I mean alliances. There's this whole thing where Kitty tries to get Emma to consider alliances. The Nowen one works, sorta. (You know, if Noah was a true boyfriend, he would have continued the competition, just so he could stay and help his GF. But apparently Noah's just one of those guys who like... is lazy and annoying, meets a girl he likes, puts massive amounts of effort to woo her - then once he gets the girl, he stops. Oof. 💀) But what about the other alliance? The Adversity Twins. Uhhh. Emma kinda betrayed them. For Noah! A good cause! But it kinda weakens her trusting other people, and willingness to help her competitors, when one of her Big Moments was throwing them overboard for her bf she wasn't even dating yet. Wow. I'd be so pissed if I were the Adversity Twins, lmao. This moment isn't bad in itself, but it confuses the message. She's trying to learn how to make alliances, but she throws one alliance to save the other. Net gain 0. And if I'm remembering wrong, she also didn't trust the Surfer Dudes later on? So uhhh. Tl;dr Emma had 3 main things in RR, she aced one of them, flopped in the other, and kinda... nothinged the third. At least for me. So in the end, it all cancels out. I feel like if I watched RR again, I might like her more. And if I liked N*mma, like you do, I might have liked Emma too. Unfortunately, I have taken the path into darkness.
Tumblr media
If you're wondering if my fic will bash her, the answer is no. She doesn't have much of a presence in this fic for obvious reasons, and if she appears, it will be brief, and as Noah's friend. Emma the dog, however, will be making consistent appearances. I feel less bad about the overlapping names now that the new TD Season also has another Emma. Thank you TD, for assuaging my guilt. They really do care about their fans. 🤧 And if you're wondering why I named the dog Emma, when I could have just not... I took a Jane Austen class in college, thought Noah would like Austen, Emma is Austen's best book imo, thought the coincidence funny, starting thinking of how to insert his Austen like in the narrative in subtle ways, thought of his dog, and well. Yeah. That's the main reason. Should I have just named her Elizabeth or smth? Yeah. But Noah hates the monarchy :(

I just found the weirdest weapon ranking for the Dark Souls series.
6 weapons ranked by impracticality...
https://gamerant.com/dark-souls-franchise-most-impractical-weapons/
And none of them make sense. Well, sure, some of them ARE impractical, but the article never actually correctly states WHY. Or, they don't mention all of it. Like, number 6 is Smough's hammer, but the only thing they mention is that it takes 58 strength and that it's "twice the size any person would hope to wield and made of solid gold". You actually can't tell what they're going for, which is a staple for the article. In this case, they fail to mention that it's main issue is that it's so large you can't fucking see anything when you use it. So they're right, but not for the right reasons.
In number 5, Scholar's Candlestick. The only thing they say is that since it's a candle it shouldn't be useful and "shouldn't be usable". Because you know. Literal candle. Here they ignore the fact that the main reason why it's shit is because of split damage and being an awful catalyst.
Now you might find yourself thinking that maybe they're ranking it based on real life usefulness, but trust me, that ain't it. Why would they mention a Strength requirement, then? Not to mention that there are way more useless weapons if that were the case. Plus, who the hell goes ranking fantasy weapons based on how useful they would be in real life? WITHOUT clarifying that that's what they're doing as well???
Anyway the number 4 is a real stinker, because what they put at the 4th place is the Dragon Tooth. They say that "much like Smough's Hammer, it's much too large to be practical". Uh, no? It isn't? Then they diss Havel and say that he should've ground it down into a Dragon Tooth Blade (fuck you, the Drake Sword already exists PLUS there is a multitude of dragon based sword weapons already in the game). They keep harping on Havel how he was just being a big meathead because he wanted to show off how strong he was. But then, get this, they say "when combined with Havel’s armor set, it can make an extremely potent weapon." So they put it on a list of impractical weapons and then they call it good. Real genius.
At number 3 we have the notched whip and their only complaint is basically "what if you hit yourself with it???? Ever think of that????? Dummy. You could poke your eyes out, you know?"
The number 2 spot is where the confusion really sets in, because what they put there is the Key to the Embedded. A key themed sword from DS2, the actual blade bit is as normal as any old sword and it's just the handle that is key shapes. Why do I say this? Because instead on mentioning how shit a weapon it is in the game, or mentioning how you lose it when you use it on the titular Embedded (though they do mention it's use, just not that you lose it)... You know what they do? They say that due to it's SHAPE, it's impractical.
"(...) turning up to fight the gods players face in Dark Souls armed with nothing but a key is surely not wise". IT'S NOT A KEY. IT'S A FUNCTIONING WEAPON YOU MONG.
At the first place... The Witch's Lock whip from DS3. This time their logic is that, since it's made of hair, it's obviously a bad whip. Let's just.ignoee that real life whips could be made, and were made, with horse tail hairs (not human hair, sure, but who knows?), there's also the fact that this is le gasp a fantasy setting, and this particular whip is a) made from the hair of a WITCH, and b) is on FIRE. But again, they fail to mention the actual in-game impracticality of the weapon (split damage, shit weapon type in general, it's relatively good with it's WA tho). Nah, what this genius wrote is "Maybe the smell of a thousand-year-old bit of hair will scare the player’s enemies away?"
What confuses me is that, besides the Dragon Tooth, everything on this list is TRUE, making it feel like they based the list on the in-game usefulness, but all their actual reasons are complete bogus. Some don't even make sense IRL. I mean sure, the handle of the Key is impractical, but if push comes to shove you can stick it in someone just as any other sword; the blade part is completely functional. Similarly, you can not tell me that a whip with thorns, or one that is on fire, can't be useful IRL. Maybe not in combat, but those were never combat weapons. As punishment though? Very effective. And also very immoral, but still, very effective.

It's Morbing Time.
Right off the bat, vampire bats are claimed to be voracious predators who can kill an animal 10 times their size and an entire cave of them loses their shit in hunger when Jared Leto cuts his hand.
"Like the original Spartans, we are the few against the many"
"It took a team of scientists to build that machine, and you fixed it with a ballpoint pen?"
"His development of artificial blood has saved more lives than Penicillin"
"I can't believe you dissed the King of Sweden"
I AM TEN FUCKING MINUTES INTO THIS THING
It's a fucking dramatic secret that Morbius is trying to splice human and vampire bat DNA but he has a big fucking diagram on his monitor of half a human skeleton and half a bat skeleton superimposed together. In addition to the "fishtank for flying mammals" that's 'hidden' in the middle of the room that is Morbius' personal mad science laboratory but also inside the hospital, easily accessible from the patient wing, which anyone can enter at any time.
Oh cool, the Eleventh Doctor is here.
"Let's go for a walk". Cut to Morbius and Milo, both of whom need mobility aids, going down an incredibly busy street.
Okay, so injecting a serum of stable hybrid cells gave him super powers. Yeah, it's a comic book movie. That much is expected. But he's not just drinking blood and showing off the standard superhuman physical enhancements- he's flying around in a cloud of smoke. This isn't even like a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure thing where there's a pseudoscientific explanation for vampire powers, we're talking just straight up supernatural shit. Because of gene therapy.
THIRTEEN MILES OFF THE COAST OF LONG ISLAND!?
"How's your pain? On a one-to-ten?" "Eleven. 😏" HA HA YOU GET IT??? BECAUSE MATT SMITH WAS DOCTOR WHO??? AND HE WAS THE ELEVENTH ONE??? YOU GET IT???
"I have the constitution of an Olympic athlete. Increased strength and speed that can only be described as..." Morbificent, I know.
These detectives were incredibly quick to conclude and wholeheartedly believe that a vampire was responsible for the cargo ship massacre.
SO NONE OF THE GUARDS NOTICE OR CARE THAT THIS MAN LEFT ITEMS IN THE HOLDING CELL AND WALKED AWAY WITHOUT THE PHYSICAL IMPEDIMENT HE CAME IN WITH
Okay, so the smoke effect is apparently supposed to be soundwaves or something, but it still looks awful and cheesy.
"Who the hell are you man?" "Me? I...am...Venom." Wow, I think it actually would have been less cringey if he said he was Morbius.
That climax and finale was just completely devoid of any actual drama or tension. It was not compelling whatsoever. Milo's motivation never went any deeper than he thought being a vampire kicked ass and he wanted Morbius to revel in it too. The heart-to-heart they had as Milo died went "You can't kill me! I'm me! You gave me my name, remember?" "I remember everything. *long pause* Lucien."
And the Eleventh Hour Superpower Morbius unlocked of bat-bending. Like, you know, maybe those bats were supernatural after all. I mean, they never need to eat or even stop flying. They were just a vortex in a tube like some sort of art installation.
...Adrian Toomes? As in the Spider-Man villain The Vulture? What does that have to do with anything? This is a movie about a scientist's experiment afflicting him with homicidal urges and a physical dependency on human blood!
Oh my fucking god there's another post-credit scene and Toomes has his goofy mecha bird suit (somehow) and he and Morbius are teaming up. I hate this. I'm so fucking done with this.
