K, It's the 10th anniversary of Peaky on 12 Sept and I must know, what are the top 10 songs you associate with Peaky Blinders?

Oh Lee @zablife I love this!!! What a beautiful way to blend the 2 things I talk about most on here: music and Peaky! However, it was so hard to pick just 10 - I hope you don’t mind my 2 honorable mentions at the bottom!!

Ok so of course I could have just added 10 songs from the soundtrack that I obviously associate with the show since that’s where I was exposed to them…but I decided to dig a little deeper, look through my playlists, and pick out some songs that make my mind go to the show whenever I listen to them. So without further ado, here’s my 10 (+2) songs — I’ve added links to the songs if you’d like to listen to them:

1. Grandfather Collar by Liam St. John

I just had to include this song because, for me, there’s no better song where every single lyric reminds me of Tommy and his energy.

2. Backbone by KALEO

This one immediately makes me think of the Shelby Brothers in the war — so much so that I just had to make a moodboard based off of it.

3. Brother Run Fast by KALEO

Ok so there’s a few KALEO songs that I can add on here, but I’ll leave it to 2 for the sake of the others haha … this one also has that almost haunting tone to it - definitely makes me think of the brothers.

4. Heavy by The Glorious Sons

The lyrics of the song are pretty self explanatory as to why I’ve associated it with the show. I mean: “it never paid to be merciful” , “I’ll put you down if the group’s what you need” and the opening lyric “come heavy or don’t come at all” are shining examples of why.

5. Heaven Loves A Fire by LAOUD

I like the vibes of this one - they’re rather haunting and I can honestly see it playing over some of the scenes … it also makes me think of Arthur and the struggles he faces throughout the series.

6. Sleeping On the Blacktop by Colter Wall

Another song that’s just got the same vibes as Peaky. A few of Colter Wall’s do — @moral-terpitude wrote an amazing piece with The Devil Wears A Suit and Tie … this one can be another candidate to play over the montages we all love.

7. Work Song by Hozier

I couldn’t make the list without a Hozier song on it … I have a few in my playlist, but I chose this one because of the vibes it gives off. Everyone knows it, everyone loves it - I think it fits the show perfectly.

8. Grim by The Blue Stones

I just found this song/band recently and have been vibing with it. I think a lot of the lyrics match the Shelby Brothers and the whole song has these kind of ‘f-you’ vibes that are prevalent in the series…again, another montage candidate??

9. Make It Rain by Ed Sheeran

Kinda like Heaven Loves A Fire - the vibes are just haunting and the lyrics are pugnent…I think it could either many of the characters.

10. Song of A Dead Man by Taylor John Williams

This is another song that holds strong Tommy vibes — it’s also just overall haunting in its tone and some of its lyrics.

1. Dipped In Bleach by Liam St. John

This is another artist whose discography lends well to the show … a lot of the songs he has are gritty and the topics he includes really relate well with Peaky.

2. Makin’ It by Bishop Gunn

This is a bit of a lighter song, but I definitely find myself thinking of the Shelby brothers while listening to it - again, mostly Arthur … the lyric “if hells where I’m heading, then I’m making good time” resonates with all of them, I think.

GG Request List Part 1

I've been working on this for a while, just slowly gathering these until I had 10 (which is Tumblr's video limit). Here are some of the songs I'd like to see/hear GG perform.

I'm posting it as 'Part 1' because I have every intention of continuing to collect songs I would like to hear him sing and sharing them with you when the list is filled.

Disclaimer: Many of these are in English. Sorry if that offends anyone, but this is my list of what I want to hear him sing, so of course it's going to reflect my tastes, and hearing him sing lyrics I can understand always feels really special for me.

I'm also still fairly new to Chinese music so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage, and I feel wary of choosing songs that offend, or that might not be suitable for social, political or cultural reasons (Nousu son by JIHU, for example, which I absolutely love and think GG's voice would be beautiful for, but might not be culturally appropriate for GG to sing).

So if anything I suggest is inappropriate, my apologies.

Sam Smith - Lay Me Down

I know we've already seen GG singing this, but I want a live stage performance of this soooooo badly. I think GG's voice would also be perfect for Diamonds, but Lay Me Down is so 💋👌🏻 for GG.

Hozier - From Eden

I absolutely can't get enough of this song (or of Hozier, for that matter). I've often pictured GG singing this song. It's so perfect for his voice, and it has such a nice rhythm and upbeat energy to it. Exuberant and yet with a bit of a dark twist. I'd love to hear him sing something this resonant and large.

Lesie Cheung - The Moon Represents My Heart

This song has so much meaning that is relevant to me as a turtle and as a queer person. Not just the song, but Leslie's singing of it. I feel like it would be a powerful statement for GG to sing this song. I would cry if it ever happened. More on that in this beautiful post from Pie.

Little Mix - Secret Love Song Part 2

This video is heartbreaking. I think every turtle has probably seen this and cried. Why not take it to the next level and hear this song in GG's beautiful voice? I'm not sure how I would ever recover.

Ele Yan - The Last Fireworks of the Summer Night

This song is so emotional and beautiful. GG's voice would be so beautiful here, and the song is so appropriate for him lyrically. It has that perfect balance of sweet and sad. Yearning.

Alyssa Baker - Can't Help Falling in Love With You

This interpretation of the song is so perfect for GG's voice. I melt whenever I think of him singing this. This arrangement is brought into more of a contemporary space, and I think that would fit him and his overall style quite well.

Years & Years - Shine

I really struggled with this choice, because I feel Olly Alexander's singing style would be so interesting with GG's voice, but Olly sings SO MANY breakup songs. As much as I know GG and DD love sad/sour love songs, I could never request a breakup song from GG. I'm not even sure he'd sing it, with his superstitious nature. 😅

Lyrically Starstruck would just be hilarious to hear GG sing, but it's not right for his voice or singing style. However I think Shine would work well for GG, and it is so energetic and upbeat, which is always fun to see from him. If it wasn't a breakup song, I think If You're Over Me would be perfect for GG.

Jay Chou - Return to the Past

This song has such a beautiful bittersweet, anthemic sound to it. GG would suit it so well. There's something of the XNINE vibe to this song, as well, which is probably part of why I think of GG every time I hear it. Would love to hear him sing it.

Leaona Lewis - Run (Snow Patrol Cover)

This take on this song is so amazing. I can totally hear GG's voice when I listen to this. Some of the notes might be out of his range, but OMG, my heart would burst if I could hear him sing this version of the song. A lot of people prefer the original, but to me this version is everything. Her voice, the vocal arrangement... ahh so beautiful.

Zheng Yu - Why Sigh

Zheng Yu's voice is so similar to GG's in tone that listening to it I can easily imagine how beautiful GG's voice would sound. Of course it's reminiscent of MDSZ/CQL as well, but that's not even one of the reasons why I'd like to hear him sing it. If anything it's just that while I like this song, I always feel a bit unsatisfied because it makes me want to hear it in GG's voice.

'Ease your feet off in the sea / My darling, it's the place to be / Take your shoes off, curl your toes' ... sweet song for our spirit of the gentle sea, i think the vibe of it really suits him

'And oh, poor Atlas / The world's a beast of a burden / You've been holding on a long time' very Naram-y vibes in this song in general, but especially fitting for his choice to stay trapped to keep Port Talon safe

pretty self explanatory. also interesting that in this context the only one who has the key to his prison is Eursulon! i love their brotherly relationship

for Naram and Orima, we love a bulldog wife and her sweetheart husband <3

'Shining like a deep sea creature / Only temporarily bearing the pressure (...) Content to maybe serve as an example / Set up a sign or two on the trail / There's a lot of things that can happen / All for the want of a nail ' i love this song sm and i think it fits him so well- being trapped, choking on blood, all for the want of the nail but still content to serve as an example, teaching humanity a lesson like a disappointed father... also 'Only the desperate ever make it to the exit / Only the brave and the pure' !!

7. what are three songs you put on your WIP-playlist this year?

I've had 3 main WIPS this year, so have a song from each playlist? Curiouser And... - Hey Kids by Molina! A little trippy, it really captures the tone of this strange little Alice in Wonderland retelling. Creep Club - (Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Öyster Cult. I just really love this song, it's got Classic Horror Vibes that suit the WIP well. To Consume - Francesca by Hozier. I originally had a different Hozier song in this one's place in the playlist, but while that one might have fit the book overall better, this one fit the role it had in the playlist itself better. Also, it goes so hard??? SO hard. Love this song.

11. which scene was harder/easier to write than anticipated? why?

Basically every scene with Matthias in To Consume is hard to write. He's dangerous, and Alya clocks him as dangerous almost immediately... but with the adults in her life dismissing her concerns, she finds herself constantly second-guessing herself. And I want the reader to feel that confusion, so there's a fine line I have to walk between making him seem potentially well-meaning but also off-putting... while setting up for a pretty Big Scene that's coming up, so it doesn't come out of nowhere. (Oh, God, it's the next chapter I have to write. Save me.)

Omg this is hard but at the same time I do have playlists made for them on spotify that I listen to when I am writing for them so I will pull a few songs from that. Thank you for the fun ask! 💙

Some songs might have some spoilers for their character arcs, but I think it will be fine. I will include 3 songs per character.

Also, I go more off of lyrics rather than the vibe exactly matching the characters. But most do sort of fit anyway although the more modern beats are ill fitting for the obvious reason that OMWAT is based in the 1890's.

What are songs you guys associate with Richonne???

I’ve seen quite a few people talk generally about Cowboy Carter and II Hands II Heaven especially and yeah I can see it, although, right now, *I*’m too busy just enjoying and discovering and going crazy over that album to associate with anything specific like that 😂 The time will come though 📝

There was/is a gif set (I think I saw a tiktok too 🤔) associating Richonne with Hozier’s Work Song and since I’ve seen it and cannot unsee/unhear it 🥲 It is absolutely perfect for them. It’s almost scary how it fits them to a tee.

I also remember fiftyleven years ago, I put on some music after having watched the latest TWD and Lauryn Hill & D’Angelo’s Nothing Even Matters came on and I guess I still had Richonne on my mind and I could only hear how it suited them. Tell me “You’re part of my identity/I sometimes have a tendency/To look at you religiously“ is not Rick-coded???!

Well lately I've really heavily associated "Hopelessly Devoted To You" from Grease with them. It really suits them so well! Yes, I got the idea from that one edit 😭😭

Hello Zepp + Overture

“So long as I won’t lose my life through sparing his…” She mirrors Hanako’s pause, not for dramatic effect or to consider her words but merely because she could. Gesturing lazily with her hand, “I’ll allow it.” And it’s a delicious thought; that Yorinobu’s survival is decided on her whim. Maybe if he knew that he wouldn’t have tried fucking her around, instead ordering Adam to kill her the moment he felt her gaze sharpen against his back.

One of the more recent additions to her playlist due to the fact I feel like I don't explore or put forward how truly cruel this woman can be. I needed a little reminder of that and what better way than the theme from one of my favourite horror franchises. There's something about 2:23 onwards that really meshes with her; the potential for tragedy that builds into something decidedly not in that vein.

Call Me Cruella

Victoria hums, amused but there’s an edge to it. A sharp point aiming squarely at the man across the room. “He’s a nobody.” She hisses, venom finally curling around her tongue and dousing the words.

I refuse to watch the film this song is from but my goddd if there's a single song that suits Ms Victoria Crane near perfectly its this one; the sheer unapologetic nature of indulging in one's own awfulness and THRIVING for it. The threads of vanity and fashion throughout the lyrics are just perfect too, esp for my fashion-indulgent lil bitch tbh

Villain

Victoria’s violence is different, much different than hers and Adam’s; an insidious flow of insults off a barbed tongue, coated in a soft rasp that makes the horrid words pleasant to listen to. Different and bloodless, yet entrancing all the same.

While I adore Call Me Cruella and do consider it largely Victoria's 'song;' this was what I had playing constantly throughout all of her development. It was probably what had me lean into making her a corpo since I wasn't happy with her in the Street-kid origin, and just making her unapologetically a villain. i could have just made her an awful street-kid but also. i like evil women in suits

And she would never accuse him of being soft, even in his gentler moments there’s a risk of cutting herself against him. Both literally and not. But there’s something cautious to him now, a lightness to his touch, a hesitance that strikes her as odd. “Adam?” She breathes out into the dark of the room, watching the barest glints of light shift against the edges of his frame. His optics brighten minutely, a barely-there flash of surprise and his hand pauses, knuckles gentle in their rest against her cheek.

and this is just purely there for self-indulgence. hozier just has me in a chokehold and there's something about this one of his that lowkey fits Victoria/Adam and the thing they both refuse to put a name to for the longest time.

time for my Henry Oak character playlist breakdown everyone

It’s so long and I’m not sorry. fair warning it gets very sad at certain points and I did make myself cry while writing it. enjoy <3

Woodland: it's a song about being in nature and all that. “We are all creatures of the sunlight” is a very Henry concept. It also has a very whimsical vibe that suits my boy well I think.

Curses: well I mean. The oak’s are cursed by the doodler, the song slaps, the crane wives have a very henry vibe to me, it just felt right to put this one on henry’s playlist. “There’s a fire in my brain and I'm burning up” could very easily be about Henry's anger, constantly coming to the surface no matter what he does to calm himself. “When this house don't feel like home” can be about Oakvale and how Henry never felt truly at home or at peace there. “Won't you stay with me my darling/when the war starts in my heart” could be about lark, and the rogue card. Henry wants Lark to stay with him, to love him, but Lark can't do that. That starts a war in Henry's heart, does he ignore his son's request for space, or does he accept when Lark sets down a boundary with him, using the very technique Henry taught him against him?? (he listens and gives lark the space he needs, no matter how much it hurts to see his son hate him.) “the devils after both of us” is sung from henry's perspective, and is about the doodler curse affecting both him and his sons.

Someone new: henry’s polyam and has a lot of love to go around. That's it. also hozier slaps.

Flowers in your hair: “when we were younger/we thought everyone was on our side” can be about a young, naive henry not realizing how hateful and harsh the human realm can be. The title is just sweet. I think Mercedes often puts flowers in her hair for fun/to feel cute and I think Henry really likes it. Idk this ones just nice and i think i found it on another henry playlist.

Hello my old heart: I hadn't thought too deeply about why I put this one on here but reading through the lyrics again I think it's Henry talking to his younger self when he returns to oakvale. “Every day i add another stone/to the walls i built around you/to keep you safe” can be both henry talking to his younger self, Hen, and being like ‘hey we make it out of here it's okay’ but it can also be henry protecting his sons and doing everything he can to make sure they never feel controlled and stifled the way he was as a kid.

This is me trying: the title alone. Henry tries so hard. And yet. And yet. “My words shoot to kill when I'm mad/i have a lot of regrets about that” is the most henry lyric ever written. Henry just tries so hard and yet his kid still hates him, Sparrow grew up to be far too similar to Barry and if Henry knew that information it would break him.

Father: This one is only on here because I saw it on a ton of other dndads playlists and I was like “oh okay I can kinda see it working for Henry '' so I put it on. I don't have a lot of personal connection to this song or a lot hc’s for why it fits for henry. That being said, the lyrics ``and I believe that yeah dad maybe no one is perfect/but I believe that you were pushing your luck” can be applied very well to Henry talking about barry.

Heirloom: of all the dads who need to hear they’re more than their fathers son, I think Henry needs to hear it the most.

Grow as we go: this is one of the best love songs ever written and i think it's very oakson from henry's pov. He's willing to stick with and help darryl as he changes and shifts and figures himself out. It's all very sweet and just akdhfjhlkjsdf adorable. I love them.

seven: baby henry was far more wild and crazy, similar to Lark and Sparrow. this whole song is a nostalgia fest for the kid life he had in Oakvale that he’ll never get back.

I have made mistakes: this is going to be a long one, prepare yourself. The phrase “i have made mistakes” is so sad when applied to henry because he blames himself so heavily for things that were out of his control, or reacting ‘poorly’ when he was trying the best he could. “The promises i've made, i continue to break them” is specifically about the gauntlets of ogre power, when henry promised to give them to the boys and then he took them away again. “All the doubts I've faced/I continue to face them” is Henry's general anxiety surrounding his parenting. “But nothing is a waste if you learn from it” is Mercedes's wisdom keeping him calm, i think she's a very calming and reassuring voice in his head and presence in his life that keeps him grounded when he starts to spiral. “We have lived in fear and our fear has betrayed us/but we will overcome the apathy that has made us” is about growing up under Barry and his whole obsession with being perfect and how that fucked henri up. I also think it works as henry talking to ron, and them bonding over being stronger than their dads think they are and especially with the next line “we are not alone in the dark with our demons” i just think its this really powerful message of connection and care between these two very traumatized dads who are just trying their best and trying to not let the actions of their fathers completely ruin their lives. “How can i face you now/when we both know how badly i have let you down?” is henry talking about lark.

Dirty paws: my friend showed me this song and I really loved it. I imagine this song is a story Henry would tell to Lark and Sparrow as a bedtime story or a lullaby even.

Slow and steady: this song is about Henry's inner anxiety. “I move slow and steady/but I feel like a waterfall” Henry tries to be calm and collected and he meditates and tries to keep control, but sometimes his emotions get too much, his anger and insecurities take over no matter what he does. “Two wolves running in the wind” is Lark and Sparrow.

Growing up: the whole concept of living your life and going through it with love and freedom in your heart is a very Henry concept. “There lies my loyalty/with my friends to the end” is Henry talking about the dads, his loyalty lies in them to the very end. “I used to close my eyes/to what stirred under my bed/now theyre open wide/to the monsters in my head” is all about how Henry views his parenting and lark and sparrow. He used to look away and deny how chaotic they truly were, down playing it all with ‘oh they're just free spirts’ etc. etc. but over the course of the adventure and with the help of the other dads he learns he does actually have to start reining them in and that scares him. “Instead of claws they whisper lies/sinking fear in quiet steps/so i will fight in the light/till my final breath” is henry’s fear of being like his father if he expresses his anger towards his sons, his anxiety and inner voice feed him lies and play on all his trauma surrounding his father. But the second part of those lyrics is the other dads supporting and helping Henry, assuring him he's not his dad, it's good to place boundaries and say no, it doesn't make you a bad parent or just like your father. With the help of the other dads he can begin to fight the inner voice in his head.

Ready now: I don't really know why I have this one on here, it's just calm and soothing and very Henry-like to me.

Cats and dogs: “my roots have grown but i don't know where they are” is henry's confusion over his past and where he belongs. Also it's partly on here because of the title, there are several songs on here with animal/nature themed titles that gave very henry vibes to me.

Allies or enemies: ah. The big one. “Are we allies or enemies/this will be the death of me” is henry talking about Lark and the rogue card. Are he and Lark enemies now? Will his son really hate him forever? The never ending questioning and pain and sorrow of the situation will forever haunt henry until the day he dies. “Remember when i could tell you not to smile when you were mad/and you would always crack/and we’d both be laughing in the end/now you're not so quick to forget” henry is thinking back to before, when Lark was little and they would fight and squabble but it was never to serious, henry would crack a joke and Lark would laugh at his dad and things were good, if chaotic. Now Lark doesn't forget, his anger isn't so easily dissuaded. Lark’s anger at his father burns hot and intense behind his eyes, never relenting, there is nothing henry can do to help his son. It breaks his heart. “All is fair in love and war but I can't fight with you anymore” is Henry giving up. He can't bring himself to fight his son. “What happens now? Do we have another go?/do we bow out and take our separate roads?/i’ll admit i've had my doubts/but i want to let in not out” is henry asking himself what to do after they return home. Does he keep trying with Lark now that they're out of the realms? He knows his son wants nothing to do with him, but he can't help but want in, he wants to be there, to take care of his beautiful boy. And then the chorus repeats, over and over again, with no answer. Just like Lark and Henry.

Mess is mine: this is another one on here for the title alone, the mess that is the rogue card and Lark hating Henry is something Henry will forever blame himself for, that mess will always be his.

Kiss me: just a really sweet, nice love song for henry and mercedes.

Small hands: I've cried to this song so many times, okay. The amount of LOVE and CARE in this song. drives me insane. The whole opening bit makes me think of Henry, but especially “i can't fix what was done to you/but i’ll shield you from the rain” because like. Henry can't fix what was done to his friends, the dads, and he can't fix or solve all of their own problems and traumas, but at the very least he can be there for them. He can be a safe, comforting presence in their lives. “And if the fire in your chest comes out/well i’ll hold you all the same” is henry talking to Lark, it doesn't matter to him if Lark is angry, he’ll still show up for his kid no matter what. He’ll hold his son all the same. And then at the very end “and if you need to take this out on me/then you know i won't complain” is SO henry and lark core. Henry will let lark take all of his anger out on him, and after a certain point he won't say anything back. He's already tried, and lark will continue holding onto this hatred and rage until there's nothing left.

The anthem of mr dark: “i never have the time to do the nothing that i want to do/im always rushing around being what other people need me to be” is all about henry being a people pleaser, stemming from his childhood where Barry was a piece of shit who never let his son do his own thing and projected this image of perfection everywhere he went. “I'm starting to see that isn't me/and my freedom isn't free” is directly about Barry and henry's childhood in Oakvale, henry blames himself for not being perfect, but that was never his fault, and it takes him a long time into adulthood to figure that out. “I’ll learn to let go/and learn to say no” is something henry needs to do and actively works on. He needs to give himself forgiveness and space to breath.

Talk to me: this is just on here bc henry’s always the one wanting to talk about feelings and is playing the constant emotional support. He wants to be approachable and make people feel safe, he wants to be let in and he wants to feel trusted (i am so projecting here but idc). This song, like ready now, also has a very soothing sound that really works for henry imo.

Happy accidents: oakson song. “You love me but you dont know it yet” is henry knowing that Darryl’s queer and loves him but isnt fully ready to admit that, so he keeps quiet about it, lets Darryl take it at his own pace. And then the rest is just a cute love song thing for them. They deserve nice things, and if canon won't give them that, I will.

Dear wormwood: ah. This one is about his dad, so it's sad. You've been warned. “When i was a child/i didn't hear a single word you said/the things i was afraid of/they were all confined beneath my bed” i think when henry was a child, when he was Hen, he kept things from Barry, he hid who he truly was, he tried to copy this ‘perfect’ persona when Barry was around. Any part of himself that didn't fit that image was swept under the bed, so to speak. “But the years have been long/and you have taught me well to hide away” when Henry comes back to Oakvale, the urge to present as perfect as possible comes back, being himself around his father is hard, but he can't pretend any longer. Now, we’re jumping out of order of the timeline a little bit, but “there before the threshold/i saw a brighter world beyond myself” is very literal in this case, with henry fixing the mirror and seeing another realm. A brighter place for him to be, away from his father. “And in my hour of weakness/you were there to see my courage fail” is Barry blaming Henry for being angry, for expressing his emotions, calling that his hour of weakness, telling him he was failing for showing that. Henry doesn’t know what he’ll do when he’s around his father again, until the anger and hurt takes over and he snaps. “Planning without acting/steadily becoming what i hate” i don't have a real analysis for how these lyrics fit henry but they make me Feel Things in my soul and sometimes that's enough. “I have always known you/you have always been there in my mind” even after falling through the portal, even after the amnesia, Henry can't get Barry out of his head. He's always there, the voice behind all his insecurities, telling him he's not good enough, etc. etc. “but now I understand you/and I will not be a part of your designs” Henry sees his fathers past in the dungeon in oakvale. He sees hildy come through the portal, he watches his father grow up on speedrun and he understands his father better. But he will never be a part of his design, he will never be so cruel and twisted and horrible as his father was, not only to him but to all of Oakvale as well. “I know who i am now” is pretty straightforward, and yet so impactful. After Oakvale, Henry knows who he is, he knows his past, he has a better connection to himself and to his family. “I know who you are now/and I name you my enemy” Henry takes a stand against his father. His father has gone too far, hurt to many people, and has hurt Henry's own children. And Henry will not sit back and let this go on any further, he names his father his enemy, and will do whatever it takes to defeat him. “I know who i am now/i know who i want to be '' Henry will be his own person, he will not copy his fathers mistakes, he will be better. His sons, his two beautiful boys, will only know love and support from him no matter what. God, I'm emotional over this song. Christ okay. “I want to be more than/this devil inside of me” is henry about the doodler, this family curse that has affected him and his sons since they were all born.

What are your hozier hot takes? 👀

I think a lot of Hozier's music sounds the same!!! Now, yes there are songs that definitely are different, but essentially I find that I can kinda dance the same rhythm/beat to 95% of his music and it would fit all of the songs, if that makes sense? I'm not necessarily saying this is a bad thing, he has a very specific sound that he does VERY well, I just don't think he strays from it very much!

I find that particular with Unreal Unearth. While it's a VERY GOOD ALBUM, I find it very long (and my irl friend who's a music fanatic agreed with me). With it being so long, I find a good portion of the album has blended together for me - hard to pinpoint what songs were what because they sounded very similar (this could also just be that I've only listened through the full album once, and very recently. This can change!)

My favourite song from the album is Anything But, and I think a part of it is because the song is so different in how it sounds from the others!

BTS is so very different that it would be unfair to compare the two, but BTS' discography is so vast, every era sounds different. Butterfly to IDOL to Yet To Come are all completely different sounds and I can immediately pinpoint what I'm listening to based off a mere second from the instrumentals or vocals. Now, Taylor Swift may be a better example (since she's one artist, as opposed to seven) it's essentially the same thing! From Debut to Midnights, she has dozens of songs that offer different experiences, all with different production that suit the song. But with Hozier, it sounds like a song from Unreal Unearth would fit just as well on his EP, if that makes sense?

My current song fixation is probably "Eat Your Young" by Hozier, but I'm also loving "She Wants Me (To Be Loved)" by The Happy Fits and I'm constantly in an Arctic Monkey brain rot.

I don't really watch many Youtube Video Essays because I'm busy with school, but I have enjoyed watching videos on the difference between psychopaths and people who are pretending to be psychopaths.

My imaginary friend as a kid was an elephant because I had a stuffed animal of Horton and it kinda just morphed into an imaginary friend tbh.

I fall asleep really late and usually listen to some sort of Sleep Aid.

If I had to change my name it'd probably be a naturey name like Aspen or Oakley. I chose the name I go by because of a username I used to go by LMAO.

My favorite of Redacted's audio is probably Anton's newest video where he calls his long-distance partner. (My toxic self wants to say Blake's Valentines Audio too though)

Asher is a character that has little appeal to me. He's like not bad, but I'm just not the biggest fan of him. (also I really do not Caelum but in a romantic sense my answer is Asher)

The Last Of Us has become one of my biggest interests rn, the amount of edits I consume of that show/game is unhealthy. It was very good and Joel is the LOML <3

I honestly don't know who I'm platonically attracted to, but I do prefer platonic friend Lasko rather than romantic Lasko.

I honestly just ramble about my interests, like my favorite books and shows. It kinda just depends on the vibe.

My go-to gas station and drink combo is 'Airhead Extremes' and Lemonade.

My guilty pleasure media is StudyGram. I am way too into making pretty notes and watching Instagram Reels about studying.

Anything Else: I'm a science and psychology nerd and I also really like Greek Mythology.

Ooooh, this one was interesting; I could have gone a few directions with it, but what convinced me was StudyGram and how I think you and Ollie could really enjoy that together.

Like, I know he wasn’t always as on top as his game, but the man Ollie is now is conscientious, thoughtful, and smart. There was something incredibly charming about the way he studiously took notes in his first audio, so I think he’d be taken with your love of beautiful, well-structured notes. Ollie’s so sweet about it too, buying you notes and scented pens and cute pencil pouches shaped like a carton of strawberry milk (my personal favorite kind of stationary).

Also, I don’t think we have, like, any real canon information Ollie is a video game boy. He’s more of a board game, but he still appreciates a good playable narrative. I can see y’all having a lovely lazy day of him watching you play The Last of Us, bringing you snacks, asking you questions about the clickers… the opposite of a golden retriever gamer boyfriend in a way.

I love songs like this for Ollie and his partner. He is just the pinnacle of domestic sweetness and comfort, and this is just the song for that. It’s the soundtrack to shared bookshelves, trips to the grocery store together, Friday nights on the couch playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who gets to pick that night’s game~ Plus, it’s a confession-y type of song, and his confession is one of my favorite audios; it suits him 💌

Runner-Ups:

Something about Avior fits well with a Type Four. They’re characterized as the romantics of the Enneagram, emotional, creative, sensitive, and Avior is absolutely the kind of romantic to match that energy. Flyboi!Ivan, I like for you because he strikes me as an Arctic Monkeys guy.

my favorite song of all time is paper bag by fiona apple but it’s followed very closely by first time by hozier. just two songs that are gorgeous sonically but have so much meaning and parts to analyze!

my favorite book is definitely the soul of an octopus. i actually really hate the nonfiction genre but this one was really moving and brought so much humanity to both the researchers writing it and the animals. and it includes psychology and biology, two of the subjects i love. but again it’s followed sooo closely with the handmaids tale because of how uniquely it’s written and the social commentary. i’m not really a dystopian fan but atwood does it SO WELL. maybe i’m just enamoured by these books because how much i love it in comparison to the genres haha.

i have too many movies i love but im definitely enamored right now by the two knives out movies. not only is it just the best in a cinematic way, but i love a mystery. im obsessed w agatha christie and so these movies were right up my alley. i love to do puzzles and shit and i always enjoy an intellectual twist to art.

im fine with any gender and any fandom! whichever person you see fits best lol

I think you would be really well suited to Lily! You guys seem like you'd have a bit of an opposites attract vibe on the surface because she comes across as light and your interests seem somewhat darker (not in any bad sense, just a bit more cozy vibes), but I think you'd actually have a ton in common when it got down to it. She also likes to tease things apart to get to the bottom of them, and I think the two of you would really enjoy indulging in mysteries and intellectual conversations together!! I think Lily forces a lot of lightness into her life to avoid dealing with some of her less happy feelings, and you'd be a living reminder that she can induge in that introspection without losing the comfort and solace of home <3

an icarus and his sun: chapter 15

A/N: well, the end is finally here. I’m not done with this lil au by any other means, there are some oneshots (like missing scenes from this story that I couldn’t get to flow with the rest of the fic) and some oneshots that take place before and after this story. there is also a nature wives sequel that I am contemplating. anyway, I just wanted to give a HUGE thank you to all the love this fic has gotten. when I set out to write this, I never imagined it getting this much love. I was writing this story mostly for myself, and this has been a work that I have never been more motivated to write, and that is largely due to the love that it has gotten. again, thank you so much. and I wrote this chapter while listening to Like Real People Do by Hozier on loop, I think it fits the mood of this chapter very well.

Warnings: pretty much nothing, just kissing and a ton of fluff

Quite some time had passed since that fateful day that Jimmy had saved Scott from the corruption. Jimmy still didn’t quite agree that his kiss was what had saved Scott in the end, he was sure Scott had something to do with it too- safe to say this was a common debate between the two. Debating was something that had not changed between them in the slightest. They still bickered, but it was lighthearted, more affectionate now. Their arguments, if they could even be called that, were filled with laughter that glittered like gold and grins that shimmered like bronze.

The defensive strategies that the new and improved House Blossom Alliance came up with helped a great deal- not that they really ended up needing it anyhow. Fwhip and Sausage kept to themselves most times these days. Both of them seemingly felt guilty about what had happened, even if they made no moves to try and repair the bond that had been broken. That stung more than some of the former Wither Rose Alliance members cared to admit. Pearl and Gem both wanted to see the best in Fwhip and Sausage, but even if either of them came crawling back for forgiveness, neither one was sure they would give it to them. And Scott wasn’t sure how he could handle even seeing one of them again.

Then there was the matter of the corruption. The containment box Gem had made seemed to be working enough, but every now and again one of them would spot a strange red plant growing from the ground, and would have to uproot it and add it to the box. Luckily nothing seemed to be spreading too far yet, and there was no sign of the “he” that the red Scott spoke of. Shelby seemed constantly on edge, and Jimmy caught Scott staring up at the statue of Aeor and asking for answers on more than one occasion. But Jimmy was confident that the containment would work, and since they beat it once, they could beat it again!

But it was silly to worry about those things, not on a momentous day like this. Jimmy adjusted the pale green bow-tie for about the millionth time, and fidgeted with the suit jacket, unused to the blinding white color of it. He wasn’t wearing his cod head- and he didn’t have a cod mask either- but the bronze scale-like pattern dotted here and there on the white suit was enough for Jimmy. Besides, for once, he wanted his head to be entirely visible today. However, upon Lizzie’s insistence, he did don a bronze-colored crown inlaid with emeralds.

“You ready?” Lizzie asked softly, holding out her arm to Jimmy. She had traded her dress with its blues of the Ocean Empire for one with the greens of the Cod Empire. Jimmy swallowed nervously and nodded with a smile, not trusting his voice to break. He took Lizzie’s arm, and the two of them walked out of the hallway and down the aisle of the new ceremony room of Katherine’s castle. Joel waited for them at the front, while all of Jimmy’s friends- Pixl, Katherine, Shelby, Pearl, and Gem- were sitting in the pews on either side of the aisle. Once they made it to the front of the ceremony room, Lizzie squeezed Jimmy’s arm encouragingly before taking her seat in the audience. Joel gave Jimmy a supportive smile, before the music began and both of them looked to the entrance of the ceremony room. Everyone rose from their seats- and in came Scott.

He was breathtaking. The dress he wore had white lace detailing, while the skirt itself was satin and had a layer of tulle over it, with more lace detailing at the hem. It was sleeveless, and must have been backless to make room for his wings. Gold jewelry adorned him, including the crown on his head, and in his hands he held a bouquet of blue orchids picked from Jimmy’s empire. Jimmy felt himself getting a bit misty-eyed, and couldn’t keep the adoring smile off of his face as Scott made his way down the aisle, finally coming to a stop to stand across from Jimmy. The bouquet was handed off to Joel, who set it down on the table behind him, but Jimmy was too busy gazing up at Scott, hardly able to believe that this day was happening.

“We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Jimmy, the Codfather and ruler of the Cod Empire, and Scott, the winged elf ruler of Rivendell. Their love is one that was won through adversity, and may they always have each other through whatever trials they may have to face,” Joel said, then turned to retrieve the pillow that held the two rings on it from the table. Jimmy took one of the rings, the one that was gold with a sliver of bronze through it, and reached out for Scott’s hand.

“With this ring, I declare my love for you. No matter what you say I did to save you, I still believe that you are one of the strongest people I know. You are as imposing as the mountains you rule in, yet your smile is like morning sunlight and your laughter is glittering gold. My love for you is as steady and sure as the ground beneath me, and as strong as the ocean's currents. I could stumble, or get swept away- but I know you'll be there to save me, as you say I have saved you," Jimmy said, gazing at Scott as he slipped the ring onto his finger. Scott's eyes were glassy as he tried not to cry, smiling that sunshine smile that never failed to make Jimmy’s heart soar. Scott took a deep breath, then took the other ring- this one was bronze with a sliver of gold through it, the inverse of the one Scott now wore.

"In the red dreamscape you saved me from, the corruption made a comment about you and I. It said that you are an Icarus, and that I am your sun. But I think it's the other way around. Sure, you can certainly be an Icarus- ambitious and determined, but you are my sun, Jimmy- warm, radiant, and dazzling. If I am the mountains, then you are the sun that peeks over them. My heart soars for you like I do with my wings, I fly ever closer to catch the beams of light you give off- and I fell. I fell for you- sweet, brave, wonderful you- despite everything. So with this ring, I declare my love to you- my Icarus and my sun," Scott said, taking Jimmy’s hand and slipping the ring on his finger. Jimmy wiped at his eyes with his free hand before taking Scott’s other hand. He looked away from Scott for a brief moment to nod at Joel, before looking back to Scott. Joel turned again, setting down the pillow and trading it for two lengths of ribbon- one gold, and one bronze. An amused sparkle came to Scott’s eyes, and Jimmy gave him a look that said not-now-Scott-not-on-our-wedding-day when Joel began speaking as he looped the fabric around their wrists.

“May the threads of these ribbons never unravel, just as your love will not. May your bond stay strong and true, just as the ribbons that connect you now,” Joel said, removing his hands once he was done. The gold ribbon was looped around Scott’s right wrist, then under their clasped hands to wrap around Jimmy’s right wrist. The bronze ribbon was looped around Jimmy’s left wrist, then over their clasped hands to wrap around Scott’s left wrist.

“Guess you’re stuck with me now,” Scott murmured, voice low enough that only Jimmy and Joel could hear him. Jimmy let out a soft laugh, and Joel rolled his eyes fondly.

“Scott, do you take Jimmy to be your husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live?” Joel asked, looking to Scott.

“I do,” Scott said softly, all joking and teasing gone from his expression, leaving only unabashed adoration in its place.

“Jimmy, do you take Scott to be your husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live?” Joel asked, looking to Jimmy.

“I do,” Jimmy said, unable to keep himself from grinning widely, feeling like he would float to the ceiling if Scott wasn’t keeping him tethered.

“Then by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and husband. You may now kiss the groom,” Joel said, nodding to Scott. Jimmy barely got the chance to lean in before Scott tugged him closer by their clasped hands and kissed him softly. Jimmy couldn’t stop smiling into the kiss, and he let out a delighted laugh when they broke apart. Their friends were cheering and clapping, and Joel threw blue and green confetti over them, Jimmy giggling at the way it got caught in Scott’s hair. They slipped their hands out of the ribbons, carefully handing it over to Joel as he handed the blue orchid bouquet back to Scott. The two of them then walked arm-in-arm down the aisle, married.

Jimmy didn’t think he had stopped smiling since the ceremony started. He even kept smiling all throughout Lizzie’s speech full of embarrassing stories about Jimmy at the reception. He definitely smiled when Scott threw the bouquet, and Shelby enthusiastically leapt up and caught it- only to stumble back into Katherine’s arms when she landed. The rest of the night, the two of them kept exchanging sheepish glances and Shelby held the bouquet close to her chest for most of the evening. Jimmy couldn’t even bring himself to be mad that someone else seemed to be finding love at their wedding.

Jimmy’s smile finally settled to something softer as he and Scott shared their first dance as a married couple. He could feel the other’s eyes on them, but that quickly faded to the background as the way Scott held him and gazed down at him captured all of his attention. Jimmy couldn’t stop stealing glances to their matching rings, heart fluttering at the reminder that they were husbands now. If you had told Jimmy at that first House Blossom Alliance meeting that he would end up married to the winged elf that badgered him into picking a fight, he would have never believed you. In fact, if you had told Jimmy anything about what was going to happen to him and Scott, he would have called you crazy. Yet here he was, dancing with someone he once swore he hated, with the man who he had been to hell and back with. And Jimmy wouldn’t have had it any other way.
