Top 5 favorite 3 hopes or 3 house characters if you haven't done so already

I haven't been able to try Three Hopes yet so I'll just focus on Three Houses.

1 - Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd, my first house was the Blue Lions so of course I'm gonna love Dimitri. I've already explained why I love Dimitri before so I'll summarise: Love how he has development, reverse development, and then development again, it makes for a really interesting character arc. Plus, I love his S-Support scene, it's so sweet. And I mean, he's voiced by Chris Hackney and Kaito Ishikawa and that's always a plus.

2 - Ferdinand Von Aegir, the meme himself. All jokes aside, I thought I was gonna hate Ferdinand because he was always boasting about nobility and all that and it made me find him quite pompous. But then in my first route, I heard Dorothea's "We killed Ferdie" line and it made me feel so bad so I made sure to recruit Ferdie in my Golden Deer run... And oh my god I fell in love with him. He's such an adorable ray of sunshine and and all around sweetheart. Sure, he misunderstands things and that sometimes causes trouble but he always means well. And not to mention, Ferdinand has some of my favourite supports in the whole game like his supports with Hubert, Bernadetta, Mercedes, Dorothea and Byleth. They're just so good. And again, his S-Support scene is adorable. And yes, again, voice acting: Billy Kametz nailed it as Ferdie, his performance is perfect. I just really, really love Ferdinand Von Aegir, guys...

3 - Hubert Von Vestra, another character I initially didn't care for. Mostly because I started with Blue Lions so after Jeralt's death, all he said was "I'm not one for condolences."... Thanks, asshat. But then I played the Black Eagles route and again, I fell in love with him. He's genuinely one of the funniest characters to me just because he only has supports with other Black Eagles students who have some of the strongest personalities so seeing this creepy, goth, cryptid boy having to play the straight man is hilarious. I especially love his supports with Bernie and Ferdie. Also, I have the feeling that Robbie Daymond had a lot of fun playing Hubert because he really hams up the evil laughs and ominous speeches. It's fantastic.

4 - Byleth Eisner, I personally prefer the male version because of design and voice but they're pretty much the same. I just Byleth because they're such a genius take on the whole silent protagonist trope you see in so many RPGs. Like there's a story reason why they barely show any emotion and you can how that worries their father. And then throughout the story you start to see them experiencing more and more emotions, expressing them in stronger ways each time until it culminates in them crying for the first time when Jeralt dies before shutting down again for a month due to grief and then seeking revenge in their rage, it's all so genius. Not to mention, I just love seeing all the teacher memes about them.

5 - Marianne Von Edmund, it was really tough choosing between Marianne, Ashe, Bernadetta and Seteth for this last one but I think Marianne is the one. For one, her design: I love the colour scheme, I love the hairstyle, I love the dress, I love how in the Academy phase her hair's disheveled and she has bags under her eyes and then in the War phase her hair's perfect and the bags are gone to show she's grown from her problems. Second of all: I love her story and how you can see how much having that crest has affected her. Third of all: I love her relationships with the other characters, especially Hilda, Raphael and Dimitri.

Sylvain is inclined to act all flirty towards you but his words don’t necessarily hold any meaning, that is until he realizes that like him, you’re plagued with the burden of bearing a crest, though you don’t necessarily go out and broadcast that kind of information, which he can understand

He definitely becomes much softer around you, baring his true self to you, unlike how he interacts with others

Sylvain isn’t dumb, he can tell when people like him. He’s not ignorant to how your eyes linger on him for a split second too long, only for you to quickly look away when he notices.

Oh yeah, he’s kinda lovesick for you too. He’s glad that there’s someone who kind of gets where he’s coming from and doesn’t push him away even when he pushes you away.

For once, he’s actually jealous when he sees people flirting with you(he kinda has it bad), and is tempted to step in, but is pleasantly surprised to find you declining their offers of granting you a rich and luxurious lifestyle.

He’s flattered that you like him in that way and not just because he has a crest.

Another noble? Why the great Ferdinand Von Aegir absolutely wants to introduce himself to you

He’s disappointed by your overall demeanor, you should be holding yourself to higher standards! You have an image to hold, so why wouldn’t you accept a suitor’s hand in marriage? Wait what—what do you mean you don’t want anyone but him

He’s caught off guard and panics a bit but smooths it over pretending that your words don't affect him that much

He’s less obnoxious about slamming your heritage in your face, seeing as you don’t really like mentioning it and the fact that you have a crest. He lessens up on the “oH yOUrE a NoBLe?!?! tAke pRiDe iN tHAt.”

just curious, what’s your favorite and least favorite character design? my least fav for sure has got to be female byleth for reasons i don’t want to get in to yep ok have a good day 😁

IOops this accidentally became a rant, sorry

Okay so, to preface this all, I’m not a character designer and I’m actually pretty bad at it, but my rule of thumb with really unappealing or fan-service outfits is whether or not it makes sense character-wise and how much it tells the player about the character. For example, I think we can all agree that there’s quite a bit of fan-service elements in Hilda’s design. Boob window. However, it’s not unrealistic to imagine Hilda picking out those clothes for herself. Her costume tells you almost everything you need to know about her character on a visual level. She’s confident, pretty, attention-grabbing, and high maintenance while the gloves and laced girdle give a nod to her Viking-maiden roots.

Taking it to female Byleth, I don’t think that her outfit works on either front. Her design is definitely my least favorite and it’s not helped by the fact that you have to look at her at all times. Whatever. The huge, solid mass of boobs, the buttoned bib, the big eyes, the feather hair, the bellybutton, the ripped tights, the booty shorts. She’s a merc out in life and death situations with an accessible, pale, tacky 2000′s “stab me” stomach cut out and a wedgie. Which could be excusable if, like Hilda, there was reason to believe that that her costume was character choice. But she doesn’t really have much character, and what there is gives the impression of a very stoic, dry, blunt person. I have no idea why they’d have gone that route when the sexual appeal of more “utilitarian” costuming (aka, form fitting armor that at least pretends to be functional) for characters like her is scientifically proven AND would say more about the singular personality trait she possesses. Okay, well, I know why they didn’t do that and I think it’s lame. This dysfunction of “character designer wanted a sexy girl but it’s kinda random and just shoved in the game without any thought” actually reminds me a lot of Xenoblade 2′s leading ladies, Hikari and Pyra. Although considering that their bad designs led to a lot of people hating the game for superficial reasons while accepting female Byleth’s design, I guess I’m just bitter. Jumping to a different comparison, then, look at 2B from Nier Automata. Her design is fine as hell which is kinda hypocritical of me considering that it's explicitly fan-service, but I think it also shows the most damning thing for female Byleth. Her whole look, despite having a dozen different element thrown in, is boring. Maybe it’s the colors (dressing her in all black and white would have been really interesting considering the colors of the three lords are so heavily emphasized as a part of their characters) or maybe it’s just the way the desperate elements come together. But, like I said, I'm not even slightly knowledgeable about character design and I know that despite Three Houses being mostly separate, they had to appeal to a larger aesthetic brand to which I have little experience with. And, ultimately, a lot of people find her cute or sexy which...To each their own, I suppose. I don’t pretend that fan-service doesn’t work on me (2B... Cloud’s arms in the remake... Seph's shirtless Smash skin...) but when it’s this obviously inserted in by the character designers rather than feeling organic in any way AND looks bad I'm just not super interested.

The other worst designs for me would be all four of the Ashen Wolves post timeskip. I don't think it's controversial to say that they didn't try with the clothes, even if I love their designs from the neck up (Yes, even Balthus. He looks like the type of guy that would let you sit on his shoulders at a rock concert so you could see the stage). While there are other designs I think are unappealing, those are for purely aesthetic reasons and so I can't maintain the opinion that they're actively bad or that I even truly dislike them.

As for favorite looks... I actually have a few so sorry you're getting all of them because despite the shit I'm talking, I actually really really love the character designs in Three Houses.

Ferdinand's post timeskip is one of my favorite designs, if not my favorite. The hair, the coat, the armor, the spurs, the colors. You know exactly who Ferdinand von Aegir is just by looking at him. He’s wealthy, handsome, confident in his appearance, a hero, a princely type character, his battle form is mounted combat which is traditionally aesthetically reserved for nobility and leaders... I love it. The only reason I cannot say he IS my favorite is because of the three Lords. But before them, my honorable mentions include post timeskip Hilda, Dorothea, Lorenz, Felix, and Hubert. Granted, I could make a case for why I like almost all of the student’s post timeskip looks.

For the Lords, I obviously have to start with colors because, weirdly enough, Persona didn’t invent primary colors but are actually used as shorthand. Blue is the color of honor, loyalty, sincerity, sadness, and depression. Something I’ve always found very interesting is that blue is very rarely found in nature. To me, that’s always made it seem more lonely which, at least in this case, is thematically relevant. People call Dimitri boring pre timeskip and while I won’t defend his hairstyle (okay, actually, I probably would because he tucks it behind his ears and idk why but that’s one of the cutest things ever) I really like how unassuming he is. Bland. He’s supposed to be the plain shortbread cookie to caramel deLite Claude and strawberry meringue Edelgard. It is not in his character to draw attention to himself or stand out. To me, he kinda looks like an old Barbie prince, like he should have been named Dominic. Also I love the blue eyes/blonde hair thing and his more angular features. It really helps to sell him as the fakeout chivalrous prince type. Post timeskip, Dimitri's black armor is amazing. I love the fact that it’s a lot more intricate up-close with the different little shell-like pieces and the fact that his boots are furry. I love the big cape and the black and white fur around his shoulders. It’s really cool how they used his costume to change the shape of his in-game model to match the bodily proportions of the character art. It’s easier to see when you change his costume into the DLC ones, but the fur and cape build up his shoulders and chest look more broad while keeping that tiny little waist. The choice to give Dimitri an eyepatch is probably my favorite thing about this design. It’s genuinely inspired. Such a simple detail yet it tells the player everything they need to know about adult Dimitri when they see him post timeskip, in one frame the player can begin to understand the extent of his loss over the past five years. The subtle shadow under his eye in the first few Azure Moon chapters and the messy long-ish hair really help to sell the feral prince aesthetic as well, as it’s from those small cues the player gets that he’s exhausted (in more ways than one) and doesn’t maintain himself. None of these things are intentional choices by Dimtiri, they’re the result of what his character has been through.

Yellow is an intense, energetic color. Mostly, people think of it as being warm and inviting, the color of the sun and positivity. That intensity can be overwhelming, though, too visually demanding when compared to its primary counterparts. Don’t stare at the sun too long. Buuuut, it’s okay to stare at Claude. Claude not wanting to wear tight pants in either of his costumes is not only a mood, it is iconic. Pre timeskip, the softer lines of his silhouette makes him look kinda slouchy, kinda lazy. Like he’s not too concerned with appearances. But those adorably messy curls, the little braid, the clearly tended eyebrows, and earring make it clear that he DOES care about appearances and is very aware of his allure. And that’s before he even starts winking. It is honestly so in character that as many people picked him first on the basis of being thirsty, that feels like an intentionally Claude thing even if it was inserted by the designers. The contrast of his complexion with his seagreen eyes is gorgeous and instantly adds a kind of mystery and intrigue to him considering the setting... but it’s sf funny that nobody looked at bronze god Claude among a sea of white faces and thought something was up. Post timeskip, they used the same trick like they did with Dimitri to change Claude’s in-game model to match his canon appearance. The way they designed his uniform makes him not look as twink-ish, like he’s actually muscular and imposing and has the strength he’d need to shoot a war bow with a 120lbs draw weight. Also like Dimitri, you can instantly tell what Claude’s been up to. Like, he was very pretty pre timeskip but when he shows up in the Goddess Tower after those five years in all that gold, he demands your attention. Like a gentleman general with the excessive aesthetic ideals of the Alliance and details to imply his heritage. The quilted pants are amazing from both an aesthetic and practical standpoint. He’s a mounted unit riding a creature with scales, of course he’d want something on his legs for protection. And the chinstrap. I love that so much, it definitely makes him look more adult. He’s got such a cute soft baby face, it’s fun imagining him experimenting with different styles during the five years to get the most desired physical reaction to him as a leader.

Frenchfries, meet forehead. No, actually, Edelgard’s design is really fantastic. Claude and Dimitri both have realistically colored eyes and hair and then there’s Edelgard. Dimitri shrugs off attention physically and Claude shirks it with a wink but Edelgard commands the players attention from the very start. Although I’m sure there’s a lot of things to associate with white hair and purple eyes, my first thought was Daenerys from Game of Thrones. Otherworldly beautiful by with an edge. Red, of course, is The power color. Strong emotions, love and hate. Red is also associated strongly with blood, which is very important to Edelgard’s plot. Granted, I think the red and black association is even more powerful than JUST red and red is the cheapest play to make in regards to displaying villainy (I mean, there are some pretty universally recognized associations with red and black and it led to people making some unfair comparisons between Edelgard and a famous dictator) but I think it was effective and well used and I genuinely enjoy its use in her case. Anyway, if I had a major complaint about her design it would be the weird ashy color of her hair whereas Lysithea’s hair is pure white. Which doesn’t even matter with the AMAZING hair horns. Ram horns can actually symbolize quite a few things, but their association with power and strength is pretty universal I think. They’re also used in demonic imagery. I love that THIS was her alternative to a crown. Edelgard views herself as a force of war and power before she thinks of herself as royalty. She also mentions that she isn’t super vain, but she loves to do her hair, so the hair being the most elaborate part of her look is entirely in-character. Edelgard’s ensemble is, like Claude, very militaristic. I love that they kept her in a dress that embraces femininity without showing skin as that wouldn’t really suit her Also, again, Edelgard demands your attention. She’s dressed all in bright bright red waving around a giant axe. She is a symbol as much as she is a combatant, someone to follow. I didn’t really mention their secondary lord costumes, but a girl in sexy armor is literally everything and I love that they had the balls to put their main sexy waifu girl in full body armor.

Okay I’m sorry I realize this was excessive and probably didn’t need explaining and I’m not sure I even articulated my thoughts properly but anyway I love their designs so here is the positivity I’ll put into the world.

A Follow Up Post for the English Voice Casting of Mr Osomatsu

Okay so I'm doing a part 2 cause the last post didn't mention all the best roles Billy, Ray, Sean, Kyle, Michael and Max did as voice actors.

First up is Billy Kametz as my personal favorite, Osomatsu. What roles has he done? How about everybody's favorite pretty boy delinquent with the stylish hair, Josuke Higashikata from JJBA: Diamond is Unbreakable. Like isekai? He is Naofumi from Rising of the Shield Hero. Love watching anything by Studio Trigger? He's the number 1 firefighting idiot, Galo from Promare. He's also Anai from Aggretsuko, Macaque in Monkie Kid, Rui from Demon Slayer, Dr. Maruki from Persona 5 Royal, Nenji Ogata from 13 sentinels, Asmodeus Alice in Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun and Ferdinand Von Aegir from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Next up is the totally painful cool Karamatsu (and Dekapan), played by Ray Chase. Interestingly enough, he does a couple of Nakamura Yuichi's other roles, one of them being Bruno Bucciarati from JJBA: Golden Wind, He also does Ryoumen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, Roswaal L. Mathers in Re: ZERO, Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV, Puri Puri Prisoner in One Punch Man, Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer, and for those who like Smash Bros, he does the voice of Roy from the Fire Emblem games. (He also did the voice of that subway announcer in Persona 5)

Next we have Sean Chiplock as the nerdy straightman, Choromatsu. For those unfamiliar with his work, he did the voice of Subaru from Re:ZERO, Ishimaru and Monotaro from the Danganronpa franchise, Shin from Dorohedoro, Kazunari Takao in Kuroko's Basketball, Daewi Han in God of Highschool, Frankenstein in Noblesse, Revali from Zelda: Breath of the Wild and my favorite role he's done, Mista from JJBA: Golden Wind! I'm so glad he was chosen to replace the old actor, I'm much more familiar with his voice work anyway.

Oh boy, we got another talented voice actor that's had a lot of great roles. Kyle McCarley is the voice of our favorite emo cat boy; Ichimatsu, but you might also know him as Mob from Mob Psycho 100, 9S in NieR Automata, Ei Sekigahara in 13 Sentinels, Kusuo Saiki from Saiki K. Reawakened, Shinji Matou in the Fate/Stay Night, Simon from Infinity Train, Ryo in Devilman Crybaby, Yushiro in Demon Slayer, Collot in Beastars, Red Blood Cell in Cells At Work: Code Black, Red Son in Monkie Kid, Narancia in JoJo's Bizzare Adventure and a bunch of more roles. If only the last two were major JoJo characters.

Well, Michael Sinterniklaas did appear in Jojo in a minor role towards the end of part 2. Aside from playing as the goofy and loud Jyushimatsu, he is also the voice of Mikey Simon from Kappa Mikey, a teenage mutant ninja turtle named Leonardo, Funshine Bear in Care Bears, Dean Venture from the Venture Bros, a show I recommend for those who like adult comedies like Mr. Oso. Aside from cartoons, he's done a lot of anime stuff too, some of it goes all the way back to the 90s with his first role being Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura. He's also Netherlands in Hetalia, Sora in Naruto Shippuden, Moritaka Mashiro in Bakuman, Dagger in Black Butler: Book of Circus and additional voices for a LOT of anime. He's probably a background character in your favorite show, like JoJo's, Naruto or One Piece.

Last but not least we have the only actor that hasn't done anything in JoJo, Max Mittelman. That's fine, because aside from the cute two-faced Todomatsu, he's also the laid-back hero for fun, Saitama from One Punch Man. He's also Ryuji Sakamoto in the Persona 5 games, Tee in Puyo Puyo Tetris, King in Deadly Seven Sins, Meruem in Hunter x Hunter, Kousei Arima in Your Lie in April, Plagg in Miraculous Ladybug, Ritsu Kageyama in Mob Psycho 100, Atsushi Nakajima in Bungou Stray Dogs, Resasuke in Aggretsuko and the list goes on.

There that's about all of them, I'm sorry this post took so long. But I was busy with other things, so taking the time to make this post was gonna take a while. But I'm glad I made it because now everyone can learn more about the english voices behind these brothers the way I did with their seiyuus.

Things in Fire Emblem: Three Houses that after 200+ hours still never fail to get to me (word vomit incoming):

When you’re sprinting around the monastery at the speed of light, the number of NPCs that exclaim “what the-?!” as you nyoom past them

“Please do not eat the weeds”

Sylvain’s pick-up formula that becomes incredibly apparent when you’re catching up on his support scenes with the girls - “Hey [name], you look really cute when you’re [activity/mood].”

Felix’s disdain for his father. Idk if I’m projecting but something about him unabashedly tearing his father a new one every time they see each other is incredibly therapeutic for me. Honestly, just listening to Felix verbally eviscerate people in general is incredibly satisfying. Go OFF on them, Fe!

The dramatic irony and humor that can be had/found on subsequent playthroughs when you know Seteth and Flayn’s full backstories. So many little things that I didn’t think twice about my first run are suddenly hilarious. (”Which [Saint] is your favorite, Professor?” I know your game, fish girl)

Seriously, these children are fucking savages.

How Sylvain, despite bitching and moaning about crest babies his entire support chain, will inevitably have boatloads of children if you get him a paired ending with a female character. I know his hypothetical family is a product of love not careful breeding, but it’s just hilarious to me. This man went from being pathologically terrified of / disgusted by the idea of continuing his family tree to adding entire branches to it. What an absolute Lad.

Here ya’ go! Hope you guys enjoy! My blog is pretty much just Fe3H rn, but I’m finally workin’ on some bnha requests so expect a lil variety.

A/N: Characters are assumed to be post-timeskip.

Caspar is certified baby, no two ways around that. He’s inexperienced with love and romance and all that weird stuff, the only thing he’s certain of is that being around you makes him super happy!

You make his heart beat like crazy, and he gets all hot and red when he talks to you, making him feel like he’s been doing hours of training. But Caspar loves training though, so it doesn’t bother him. He doesn’t love it quite as much as he loves you though.

He’s kinda like a puppy. He’ll follow you around with a giddy smile, constantly seeking your praise and validation.

You’re a great motivator for his workouts. He just thinks of you and your pretty face lit up with amazement at all his hard work, and he’ll push himself twice - no - thrice as hard.

And like his physique and stamina, Caspar will see you as something to be obtained with hard work and dedication. He’s just a little... unsure on what exactly he’s supposed to do.

He’ll ask Sylvain about how to approach his little issue, after all he’s had a lot of experience with this stuff, right?

Unfortunately, Caspar is intense. It’s like training; the harder you do it, the more it’ll pay off, right? Did Sylvain say to get to know you? Caspar will stalk you day and night, learning every intricacy of your daily life. Did Sylvain tell him to learn your interests and hobbies? Well, expect a broken lock and a room turned upside down. He’ll learn what books you like, the food you eat, even the clothes you wear (he’ll take a few for himself - just so he doesn’t forget, not so he can put it under his pillow and pretend you’re sleeping there with him, or anything).

It’s also worth noting that things get ugly when he’s jealous. If someone so much as looks at you with a bit too much interest, he might just have to rough them up a little.

And then, the fateful day will come when he believes he’s fully ready to confront you: He’s worked so hard and it’s paid off! He knows everything about you, that’ll show you how much he loves you! He’ll approach you, voice loud in excitement;

“Hey, (Y/n)! I love you! Please go out with me!”

You’ll be taken aback, for sure. Caspar will notice your hesitation, and assure you that he really, really does love you! He’ll list off facts and tidbits about you, the mannerisms he adores so much, the cute way you sleep, how nice all your clothes smell...

If you’re sane, you’ll be absolutely mortified. How the fuck does he know any of this? You’ll shake your head, apologizing but warning him to stay away from you. It feels like you’ve been betrayed; you cherished your friendship with Caspar, but now you don’t know what to think of him.

Before you can walk away, he’ll have you in a choke hold, your vision blurring into stars as you struggle to breathe.

“I’m really sorry, (Y/n). This wasn’t how this was supposed to go. But don’t worry! I’ll show you how much I love you.”

You’ll wake up in an unfamiliar room, with Caspar sitting across from you with a worried look in his eye. He’ll be overjoyed when he sees you stir.

“Heh, sorry about that (Y/n). I got a little rough back there. I was worried I might’ve -” Caspar just shakes his head and scratches his neck, acting as if this was no more than a dumb accident.

Caspar is hella delusional. He’ll truly believe you love him back. He’ll treat you so kindly - kissing you gently, holding you close when he forces lets you sleep with him, and giving you constant compliments. He’ll refuse to process any signs of your discontent. Trembling? You must be cold, he’ll fetch you a blanket. You cry when he embraces you? Oh, you must just love him so much it overwhelms you!

“I love you so much, (Y/n)! And you love me, right? It’s like we were made for each other.”

Ferdinand

Ferdinand is, in every sense of the word, a noble. A fact he greatly prides himself on. He’s kind of the opposite of Caspar, he knows the world of courtship and customs of chivalry inside out.

On that day, when the stars align and see fit to bless him, he’ll lay eyes on you. You’re captivating, exceptionally beautiful and stunningly refined. And when he gets to know you; well his infatuation inflates tenfold. To him, you’re perfect in aesthetics and substance. He sees it as his duty, his purpose as a man of honor, to woo you and make you his bride.

To be honest, Ferdinand sort of has a thing for marrying you, sculpting you into the perfect little spouse. It’s low-key a fantasy for him. When he finds himself in the throes of passion, he’ll call out your name with ‘Von Aegir’ in lieu of your actual surname. It never fails to finish him off. He’ll oft find himself daydreaming about you welcoming him into your shared home, greeting him with tender kisses and a cooked meal. What can he say, he finds domesticity very exciting.

But he decides that he’s lived in fantasy for too long; A noble must take initiative!

Expect an exhausting courtship. Ferdinand will be overbearing with sickly-sweet compliments that wax poetic, luxurious gifts that you feel bad for accepting, and constant insistence on joining him for tea or a horse ride.

If he finds himself facing rejection, however, he may feel a little scorned. He showed you nothing but courtesy, and that’s how you repay him?

“If you wish to be uncivilized about this, (Y/n), then it’s time I ought to act accordingly.”

He’ll use every political connection he has to blackmail and threaten you. It’s for your own good, of course. You just insist on being so difficult about it.

In the fantasy world he’s created, he’s the shining knight to rescue you from the troubles of your boring, lowly life.

He’ll force you into a marriage, delighting in just how cute you are as his loyal companion - and he’ll be eager to finally consummate this eternal union.

Edelgard’s backstory and why she blames Crests/Church(Spoilers Obviously):

So I’ve noticed that some people were a bit confused about El’s backstory and why she’d ultimately blame the church for her tragedy and the state of the world. Understandably so, because as much as I love this game they don’t do a great job in explaining it outright. That being said there is enough lore and suplimentary lore, to read in between the lines.

Note: this is NOT a write up on whether she’s right or wrong, it’s purpose is simply to clear up some muddy details in the lore and help explain Edelgard’s motivation and perspective.

Ok so here’s where actual spoilers roll in...

Insurrection of the Seven and the Tragedy of Enbarr:

Those who have played Black Eagles route will know that Edelgard’s tragic past involved the experimentation of her and her 10 siblings. In her C+ support with Byleth she says that the one responsible was the prime minister Duke Aegir, (Ferdinand’s father). Now anyone that was paying attention will know that Thales and those who slither in the dark were the ones that performed the experimentation on Edelgard. When we see the Flame Emperor(later revealed as Edelgard), and Thales speaking, he calls the Flame Emperor “their greatest weapon” and mentions imbuing the Flame Emperor with the blood of the “defiled beast” aka the goddess. Then we get confirmation in the part two: Crimson Flower from Hubert they are indeed responsible for the expiramentation. So did she lie about the prime minister?

Well no, not quite, you see in part one of Black Eagles Edelgard hints her true intentions several times in the story because more than anything she wants her allies and professor to walk her path with her. Of course she has to worry about blowing her cover so she did have to resort to half truths throughout part one. While it’s true that she and her family were experimented on by Thales(the leader of those who slither in the dark), in order to endow them with the Crest of Flames and in-turn become a powerful weapon. It’s exactly as Edelgard says it was ultimately the “prime minister and his gaggle of nobles” that allowed for her to do so. When Thales conducted the expiraments on Edelgard it was when he was under the guise of Volkhard von Arundel, brother of Edelgard’s mother Patricia von Arundel. Due to Patricia being wed to Emperor Ionius IX( Edelgard’s father) Volkhard was granted power as well as the title of lord. He comes to simply be known as “Lord Arundel”. With Volkhard’s new station and power he was able to play a big role in instigating an event known as the “lnsurrection of the Seven”. A soft coup that occurred within the Adrestian Empire in Imperial Year 1171. Duke Aegir, backed by a cadre of other corrupt imperial nobles. The nobles being: Count Bergliez, Duke Girth, Count Hevring, Count Varley, Marquise Vestra, and of course Volkhard von Arundel. They in-turned stripped Emperor Ionius IX of much of his power, relegating him to a mere figurehead while Duke Aegir became the true authority behind the throne. Remember that Thales under the guise of Volkhard von Arundel and used his position to manipulate the prime minister and the other nobles into the experimentation on the Hresevelg royal family as well as various other unsuspecting victims( Lysithea and her family) in order create “a powerful heir for the Empire” (while Thales real objective is to make a champion to destroy the church and children of the goddess.) All of the expiramentation was conducted in secret, implied to be imprisoned underneath the castle grounds of the Adrestian Empire.

Important Note: I want to clarify the expiramentation does not take place in Shambhala it’s heavily implied Edelgard has never been to Shambhala and seen those who slither in the dark at large. We know this because in Hubert’s posthumous note sharing the directions to Shambhala, says he was only able to detect it’s location due the Javelins of Light. The reason why those who slither in the dark use them sparingly is because they can be traced back to their domain.

The reasons why this all comes back to Rhea/Seiros and the church is because had she not lied about the true nature of the Crests, Saints and Elites and created an elitist nobility system where those without crests are screwed, and those with them rise to power, then Fodlan wouldn’t be led by a bunch of corrupt power hungry nobles who seek to further their power by any means necessary. You see regardless of intentions Seiros essentially creates a rift in society, by saying the Crests are a gift of the goddess passed down through nobility she allows the nobility of Fódlan to develop an abnormal sense entitlement as they believe their Crests are blessings from goddess herself. This system is what allowed corrupt nobles like Duke Aegir to rise to power, and ultimately diminish Ionius’s power making him helpless to stop the experimentation and consequential murder of his children. It also allowed Volkhard aka Thales to slip into the Imperial nobility and keep the empire under his thumb and gain influence over a decent portion of the Adrestian Empire. Thales would’ve never been able to accomplish all he did if the nobility system wasn’t so corrupt. The issue of corrupt nobility becomes even worse in the current era as it’s noted that Crests are starting to diminish and noble houses are desperately trying to keep their power. Even still despite the current system failing its still perpetuated by Rhea and the church’s teachings and due to the vast influence the church has it keeps things the way they are, as nobles can justify their rise to power as simply fullfilling the goddess will.

Fódlan’s History:

Now one of the biggest criticism towards Edelgard is her lack of understanding of Fódlan’s true history, but to be fair though it’s not like it’s her fault. Throughout her life she’s had a far more accurate understanding of Fódlan’s history than most characters in the game. I think it’s important to see this from her perspective. Ever since she was young she had been privy to important knowledge that had been intentionally hidden for thousands of years by Seiros and the church. Some things that were hidden like how the Ten Elites created the Heroes Relics, that the story about Nemesis Seiros was heavily altered, and more importantly that Fódlan had been secretly been led by The Immaculate One and her fellow children of the goddess. All that she knows is this monstrous creature in human skin had secretly been leading the world, altering history and stagnating humanity for over a thousand years with the Crest and nobility system and using the church as a front to do so. While Edelgard’s suspicions of why Rhea uses the church are wrong she is ultimately correct that Rhea was using the church as a front(she admits to such in her S support). Even as her time as Seiros she was trying to facilitate the rebirth of the Sothis which led her to conduct her “questionable” experiments to do so. I digress, a misconception is that Edelgard’s understanding of the history of Fodlan came from those who slither in the dark or that she was flat out lying to Byleth. It’s not either of those, Edelgard isn’t dumb enough to simply believe those who slither in the dark after all once she no longer needs their power she seeks to crush them, and after choosing Edelgard she’s always sincere about everything to Byleth. The real reason she is missing details is because her ancestor Wilhelm I (Wilhelm Paul Hresvelg) who had been allied with Seiros in the War of Heroes, passed down the true history of Fodlan to his successor and it went from emperor to emperor, so all sorts of details became lost due to practically being a huge game of telephone. Due to it being passed emperor to emperor it can be assumed that she received her information from her father. Considering her love for her father it’s no surprise she’d believe him and have no reason not to. Edelgard thinks she knows the true story of Fódlan already so it at least makes sense that she wouldn’t risk asking Rhea for the truth, considering she’s been hiding the truth for over a thousand years. Regardless of whether Edelgard is getting an A+ in history class, the thing she seeks to change is the Crest and nobility system as well as take down the corrupt Church of Seiros. By the end of every route these are all things that either get completely abolished, or revised in some way or form.

(I don’t imagine a hypothetical scenario where Edelgard confronts Rhea about the truth going well, Rhea always waited to the last possible moment to give the lore dump and in Golden Deer she’s rather hesitant to tell the truth despite the danger knocking on Fódlan’s door. I would not be suprised if she branded Edelgard a heretic)

Hopes for the world and Views on the Faith of the Goddess:

Edelgard wants to create a world of opportunity. One where people can rise to their position because they are best person for the job. One where all aspects of a person is taken into account instead of simply their status or whether they have a crest. As she says a world where people can rise, and fall by their own merits. A lot of character’s problems in the game has to do with their status as nobility, their crest and the misfortune it brings or the struggles they endure due to a lack of a crest. In Edelgard’s Fódlan people are free to pick their lot in life, if settle mediocrity so be it, and if they aim high they must be prepared to work tirelessly to achieve it. Edelgard simply believes in power of humanity. A lot of the characters in the game have this misconception that Edelgard seeks to create a world where only the strong survive, and a world without faith in the goddess. They have this believe that just because Edelgard seeks to crush the Church of Seiros, that she also seeks to get rid of the faith the goddess as well. That some people need their faith in of the goddess in order to get by and she’s essentially trampling over all those people. While it’s not exactly clear how she’d handle the faith in other routes as she ultimately is unsuccessful, in Edelgard’s route she makes it abundantly clear that she’s simply an enemy of the current church and not the faith. She even says this practically word for word against Rhea in Chapter 11 of Black Eagles.

Edelgard is what we call a Nay-theist. A fictional character in a fictional setting that has real gods and simply doesn’t believe that they need them. Edelgard is well aware that the goddess and children of the goddess existed and that she essentially established Fódlan, but she also believes that people shouldn’t put blind faith in that the goddess will take care of them. She thinks that people should take charge of their own lives. That being said she doesn’t seek to enforce this on people as recruited characters of devout faith like Mercedes and Marianne will comment on how Edelgard doesn’t discourage the prayer to the goddess. Her support with Manuela also shows that she is not above understanding the perspective of those who believe in the goddess.

I mean I know Hubert is a very fine person who has his own weird charming attributes but the level of contrast between you both makes me wonder about your undeniable attraction to such man . What makes Hubert so irresistible hm ?

Well, you know they do say that opposites attract! And I suppose when it comes down to it, Hubert and I have more similarities than one would think. We both value hard work and loyalty, for all we go about it in different ways. We both commit to causes with our whole selves, and give nothing less than our best to those things--and people--we deem worthy.

He is a very fine person, yes.

I suppose...there is just something about him. I have mentioned before that he has very high standards, and there is something almost intoxicating about meeting them. I have always relished a challenge, and the challenge of pleasing Hubert is perhaps one of the most exciting. When he does deem a compliment worthy of giving, it is clear that he means it. Hubert is not one for idle flattery, so you may take every affirming word he gives to heart.

Hubert’s level of devotion is nothing short of amazing. You will be hard pressed to find anyone who will give more of himself to a cause than Hubert von Vestra. Sometimes it is to his detriment, because he will likely forever view himself as a much lower priority than those he has chosen to serve, but knowing you can depend on him to give the best of himself is a comfort to anyone who is lucky enough to call him an ally.

His skill with magic is unparalleled, and he is a force on the battlefield even if he does occasionally forget to guard his own back. His competence is perhaps one of the most attractive things about him, honestly. I could also speak about the impressive figure he cuts in all black, but I do not know if he’d thank me for doing it in such a public forum.

“Long hair is a fantastic way to look more gallant! Don’t you think it makes me look more noble?” Ferdinand chucked at you surprised expression. You supposed it did make him look more handsome, not that you’d ever tell him that. He’d never shut up about it if you did.

“You’re a lot more vulernable on the battlefield with hair like that. What if the enemy grabs it from behind and restricts your movement?”

“Maybe I could cut it in a dramatic fashion! That seems to be a common trope in plays after all, and other people go wild over it.”

“Or, and this might sound crazy but, maybe dont do that?” He just had to over complicate things... the solution could be much simpler, “Just put your hair up before battle. It’ll be much harder to take advantage of then.”

“Hmm, you make a fair point. But I’ve never even tried to do something like that. Do you have any-“

“I could do it for you!” That probably sounded too eager. Gods you’d even interrupted him while he was talking. But his hair looked so soft, and you desperately wanted to touch it. In a perfectly normal manner, of course, “Er, that is, if you’re alright with that.”

“Why, Y/N! Of course! If you would be so kind, I’d love it if you could help me.” It didn’t seem like he’d even noticed, or if he did, he didn’t mention it. You agree to do so, even though you had been the one to offer in the first place. You quickly position yourself behind him and began working.

Though, when you run your fingers through his hair to check for tangles, you could swear you’d heard Ferdinand make a small sound. Had you hurt him? Surely he wasn’t so tender headed he couldn’t handle a little hair pulling. It didn’t really sound like he was hurt, but better to be safe than sorry.

“Ferdinand? Sorry, am I being too rough?” You tried to meet his face, but he quickly turned away once he noticed you begin to move.

“Not at all! It’s just, maybe you should use a brush instead. That is the intended tool after all.” His voice seemed to waver a bit, like he had something else to say but couldn’t find the words.

No matter, you want to keep Ferdinand comfortable, otherwise he might not let you finish! So you begrudgingly comply, rummaging around your bag. Once you find one and begin running it through his locks, it quickly becomes clear that it’s very well kept, the bristles flow through so cleanly! You made a mental note to ask him what he does to keep it like that.

After brushing it thoroughly, you begin to think of some suitable styles. Perhaps a bun? Or a ponytail that sits over his shoulder like Linhardt’s used to? Maybe even twin tails...

Eventually you decide to do a braided bun, it was bound to not only work the best but also look the best.

“I think I’ve got the style for you! But it’s probably gonna take a while. Are you going to be able to sit there for long?”

“Of course! You’re talking to Ferdinand von Aegir here!”

“I know, that’s why I asked. I don’t think I’ve seen you sit for longer than 30 minutes.” As you laughed at your own tease, you began to separate his hair for the starting braid. This seemed to cause Ferdinand to tense up again, with his shoulders raising up and his neck falling forward. His movement made his hair shift around and immediately messed with the partings. You grab a small strand and give it a light tug, grimacing, “Hey, don’t move! If you move, you’ll mess it up. And if it messes up, I’ll just have to do it again anyways.”

You heard the man give a small voicing of apologies as he sat back up, and you couldn’t help but notice his hand gripping at his knees. His nails were practically digging into his skin, or at least they sure looked like they were. While you began braiding the three large sections of hair, you slowly, slowly began creeping around. Just enough to where he wouldn’t notice.

After all, he’d been hiding his face this whole time. The only way you could even read his emotions was his body language so far, and that can only tell you so much. Was he angry? In pain? Nervous? You couldn’t tell! And you’d never know if you didn’t investigate.

But impatience got the better of you. You only got about halfway before just bolting around then facing him directly (still holding the braid, unfortunately. You noticed Ferdinand cringe from his hair suddenly getting yanked so violently). You couldn’t even suppress your giggle.

The little Dukeling has such a warm glow to his face! His cheeks were a soft shade a pink that danced up his face as he realized you were sat right in front of him. He tried to look away, to the sides, even to the sky, but it was quite difficult to do so. Since you still had his hair gripped in your fist, his movements were extremely limited. So he simply looked forward, which only seemed to embarrass him further.

“Y/N! By the Goddess, at least warn me when you’re going to do that. You nearly scared me half to death...” His breathing was certainly a bit unsteady. Perhaps you’d frightened him a bit too much and yet, it was probably worth it to see his cute-

Ah, wait. Gods, you really needed to stop thinking like that. This whole time you’d let your mind wander, but... perhaps it was getting out of hand.

“Well, you’ve been avoiding looking at me! I thought maybe you were upset, so I just wanted to make sure. But, you seem more than fine to me.” A soft smile creeped onto your lips, “I’d even say you look pretty happy. Oh, wait! Your hair!” You’d been distracted for so long, you’d completely forgotten about his braid! It was still in its form, thank the Goddess, so you simply went back around and continued working quietly.

But of course, silence can never last for long. You quietly mused a thought, one you had intended to keep to yourself, “Why is it that you looked so embarrassed? I know having your hair done up isn’t typically the most manly thing, but you didn’t seem embarrassed at the thought before. Is there something else? Maybe...” Is it me? You quickly throw the thought out. What silly self indulgence.

“Well... I suppose it’s because of- because of you.”

Your hands freeze as you were tying up the now complete braid into a bun. Was he being serious here? You thought back to make sure you hadn’t spoken out loud.

“What are you talking about? I haven’t even done anything to embarrass you.” A nervous chuckle barely slips through your lips. Of course, that’s probably not what he meant. But in that moment of panic, what else could you think to say? You hurriedly try to tie up his bun, trying to avoid the conversation.

“Yes, of course not. It’s just that, your hands are very... soft. I didn’t expect it and, and when you did that thing with your hands, running it through my hair I just kind of, um.” Now you both fell silent, and neither side made an attempt to break it.

As soon as you tied up his hair fully and gave an awkward “Finished.”, Ferdinand turned around to face you. His face was even more flushed than before, and when he met your gaze a light, breathy laugh came out. Without his hair framing his face, you really could see everything. And by the Godess, it really was breath taking. No word to describe beauty seemed to be able to match the wide grin plastered across his face, or the soft look his eyes were giving you.

“Thanks Y/N. Knowing you, I’m sure it looks perfect.”

He was blinding.

You push his face to the side, grumbling, “Don’t look at me like that. Or I won’t be able to...”

Resist.

You leave the field in a hurry, making up some excuse about having to prepare for the upcoming battle, even though you’d already prepared weeks in advance. You just had to get away from that man, just for a moment, to regain your composure.

In your rush, you failed to notice that, just behind you, that same man watched you retreat with such a fond expression, almost wanting to call you back but decided it best to leave it be.

There was always next time he had mused, another time when he held just a bit more confidence to truly tell you how he feels.

The deep questions

"Alright everyone, we’re gathered here today to answer the most important question,” Claude’s eyes swept over the assembly of his peers. There was Hilda painting her nails, Leonie impatiently tapping a foot, Mercedes sipping at a cup of tea, Linhardt napping, Edelgard fixing him a soulpiercing gaze (and Hubert Huberting behind her). It was a rather motly assortment but they had been brought together by one burning question;

“Are Lorenz and Ferdinand, in fact, the same person just shapeshifting into different forms to fool us?”

“I mean they both like tea! Like...love tea...like it can get kinda creepy how much they go on about tea...just on and on and...no-one should love tea that much,” Leonie shuddered as she tried, and failed, to suppress some or other intimate tea-based memory.

“Their choice of combat style is oddly similar to. I mean they both like riding horses, wielding lances,” Mercedes offered from around a sip of tea.

“More importantly the two of them won’t. Stop. Saying. Their. Names!” Edelgard (and Hubert) breathed the words as if they were fire in her throat, her fists clenched so hard beneath the table Claude could hear the knuckles cracking.

“Every. Single. Time. I am Ferdinand von Aegir. I am Ferdinand von Aegir. I am Ferdinand von Aegir! WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE FERDINAND! EVERYONE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE! I CANNOT GO TO SLEEP WITHOUT IT RINGING IN MY EARS!” Edelgard (and Hubert) seethed, the deep rings around her eyes, indicative of a lack of sleep, becoming more apparent all of a sudden.

“...anyway, Lorenz isn’t quite as obsessed with it as ol’ Ferdie, but it is true he does like saying his whole name a lot. He even asked me to specifically make sure when I write to my brother I use ‘Lorenz Hellman Gloucester,’ as if my brother would think there’s any other Lorenz with me in the Officer’s Academy,” Hilda offered, ignoring Edelgard (and Hubert) who was still softly mumbling ‘Ferdinand von Aegir’ under her breath.

“Then we’re agreed? Ferdinand and Lorenz are actually a secret and ancient being from our prehistory who appears human but can shapeshift into different forms like, say, a giant monster also if he wished?” Claude said, having to keep himself from laughing at how preposterous an idea that was.

“Actually you’re all forgetting one detail,” said Linhardt who you probably forgot was here but I did mention him up above!

“You see there is one important reason Ferdinand and Lorenz can’t be the same person,” the room held it’s breath as Linhardt laid out what was clearly the only reason Ferdinand and Lorens were not one person.

“Lorenz likes Reason-based magic, Ferdinand likes no magic,” clearly this was the one, and only, fact that dispproved Claude’s notion. Nodding along, murmurs of agreement, it seemed the matter was solved.

However!

“Alright then...but what about Lorenz and Sylvain? They gotta be the same person right? Ride horses, love hitting on girls, use lances AND they both use Reason Magic too! Eh? Eh?”

na hi, may i request a normal matchup? i’m bi so i don’t have a gender preference! also i’m an infp if that helps at all. my organizational skills aren’t the best but i’ll try to make this as understandable as possible:

to start off, i’m pretty scatterbrained! my attention span isn’t the best, and neither is my short term memory. i tend to get lost in my thoughts a lot, and when i snap out of it, it takes me a few moments to figure out just what i was supposed to be doing. it is a lot easier for me to pay attention to things that i find interesting, such as a really good story or a fun game! there is one caveat though, in that i tend to fixate on that thing for hours on end, to the point that i forget to eat or sleep.

i’m also overthinking and impulsive! i put these traits together since they kinda blend together. my overthinking makes me second guess myself, and i get restless and frustrated when i dwell on things for too long, so i kinda just… say fuck it and go with my instinct so i won’t have to deal with that uncertainty anymore.

that being said, i’m also quiet and polite, so i don’t really come across as, well, a dumbass to most people (at least, i assume so). i get good grades, i took a bunch of honors classes, and i’m pretty good at math, so i guess i seem smart and studious (…despite the fact that i barely study). apparently, i don’t seem like the type of person to cuss either, since a lot of people i know are surprised when they hear me start swearing like a sailor.

i’m also shy and awkward. i’m slow at finding the right words and figuring out what i want to say, so verbal conversations are difficult, especially with people who aren’t used to me and vice versa. due to my… scattery brain, i guess, i often need others to repeat themselves too, which makes things worse. i do try to be a little more outgoing, but it’s mostly small things like making casual small talk with classmates and making little jokes to keep things light. and this is just partially related, but i’ve… been told several times that i sound like a scared child. i don’t know how to feel about it.

lastly, i try my best to be helpful! i try to support and encourage my friends, and overall just be a positive presence. i like making other people happy. i’ve been really dependent on others in the past (and kinda still am), and i’m trying to make up for it, in a way. as such, i really admire to kind, strong (in more ways than one!) people as well. however, i’ve developed a bad habit of keeping my negative feelings to myself. i still do vent when i think that i really need someone to hear me out, but that’s only when i feel like i’ve hit rock bottom. i can’t help but feel embarrassed about depending on others. i’m… still really weak to praise and affection, though.

as for interests and hobbies, i love reading scary stories, though i like all forms of horror! i just find shorter stories much easier to get through. i’m also really into crafts like knitting and cross-stitching, since the motions are relaxing and making things by hand just feels nice - especially if they’re gifts! i dabble in other creative pursuits as well, like writing and drawing, and i’ve always wanted to get into gardening though i’ve never had the space for it.

i’m a huge dog person too - i have three dogs who i love very much and i have made it my mission to pet every dog i see (as long as i’m allowed to, that is). annnd i really like the thought of going on late-night walks, though i’ve never really gotten a chance to due to possible safety issues.

At first glance, you two may not seem so compatible, but the more I think about it, the more I think you guys would go really well together. Ferdinand is a thoughtful and attentive guy, on top of it all he is also very responsible, so he’d be able to aid you in your tendency to be scatterbrained. I’m sure he could look after you in this aspect if you asked him for help but he’d simultaneously try to help you best this as well. For your tendency to overthink, he’s definitely someone who would encourage you to believe in yourself and in the decisions you make. As a preacher of discussion and debates, Ferdinand who although is very competitive, also strongly believes in growth and development, therefore in his eyes, it’s okay to be wrong, as when you know you are wrong you can improve. This may prove to be something difficult for you to embrace at first, but even then the fact that Ferdinand would express that sentiment to you would let you know that he would not judge you for the mistakes you make. Ferdinand is very well mannered and defined, as he strives to be the ideal of nobility. Your politeness and the educated mien you seem to convey to others would definitely make an impression on Ferdinand. As he would later come to know, you are also quite intelligent, which would only prove his initial thoughts about you. He might be a bit taken aback when you start cussing, and might not personally like it, but it wouldn’t really take away from your other qualities. Ferdinand is also quite the social butterfly, and a skilled conversationalist, so first of all, he’d have no trouble making conversation with you, even if you might sound a bit like a scared child sometimes. Secondly, even better, i’m sure he’d be glad to give you tips and tricks on how to start a conversation with people. Lastly, INFP personalities I think really fit into Ferdinand’s concept of a noble, someone who dedicates themselves or feels the need to help others, in addition to being someone who is always willing to improve. In your case, this is best exemplified by your want to be helpful and make people happy. Even if you may not be completely independent right now, Ferdinand would nonetheless come to recognize and deeply respect your efforts. Headcannons:

When Ferdinand first laid eyes on you, he was immediately drawn to you.

You were very polite but also quiet. In his eyes, you just seemed regal in a sense.

That’s why when he started talking to you, he was very confused as to why you were so shy and awkward while talking. He saw how much you tried though, and at that he couldn’t help but smile.

He notices, however, how helpful and kind you are to others, and how much effort you put into making others happy.

Afterwards he makes it his mission to help you in any way he can, determined to make people see you as he does, including yourself, truly the noblest of nobles.

You try to explain to him that you really don’t want to depend on others. At that he lets you know you aren’t depending on him, as you yourself are making the progress, and he is only lending a hand. He also tells you that despite you not knowing so, you’ve helped him grow as a person quite a bit as well, so the only thing he can do is return the favor.

We all know Ferdinand loves his tea time, but he especially loves it with you. He also loves hearing your heartening and positive outlook on things. It makes him see things through rose-colored glasses at times.

Tea time also comes to be of great help to you, as it’s literally an activity where the point is to make conversation.

He’s very patient every time you speak, and he listens to you with an amount of attention you aren’t sure you would ever be capable of, or anyone for that fact.

Speaking of which, the first time Ferdinand heard you curse he just sat there with his eyes almost popping out of his sockets, incredibly shocked to the point you thought he might’ve had a heart attack. That is until he started bursting out laughing at your sudden outburst.

Have I mentioned Ferdinand is super romantic? He’s known to smother people with praise to the point where they just would just rather disappear.

Of course, his praise giving and affection is only going to increase by tenfold with you. He literally almost praises you just for smiling. You swear to god you’ll faint one day from it all.

He always makes a cup of tea for you while you are knitting or cross-stitching. He’ll sometimes ask you to make something for him, maybe some gloves or a scarf. He either uses them a lot because he just loves them too much or almost never uses them because they are just too precious to him. Just one or the other.

He’d totally get you a small garden where you can plant whatever you want. If you ever planted started planting something to make tea out of he’d totally cry.

You two would sure make the noblest couple ever.

So alright. Chances are , if you’ve heard of Ferdinand , it’s because you’ve heard the infamous ‘ I am Ferdinand von Aegir ! ’ quote goin’ around which . . . attributes from. Him introducing himself every time you select him on the battlefield in FE3H. Don’t believe me ?? WATCH.

...u don’t need to watch that whole thing I’m just tryna get the meme out of the way before I talk abt everything else.

BC ALL JOKES ASIDE I HONESTLY LOVE FERDINAND SOOO MUCH n I promise I’ll take him seriously bc holy fucking shit this character is my babyyyy.

So for STARTERS. Ferdinand is the legitimate son of House Aegir in the Adrestian Empire , which is the house that produces the Empire’s Prime Ministers. Now , here’s the thing ; Ferdinand himself isn’t involved in any of this , but thanks to the Adrestian nobles pretty much stripping the Emperor of their power in the past . . . the Aegir house ( much like the other houses , but Duke Aegir’s implied to have like , spearheaded it ) is pretty damn corrupt.

NOT FERDINAND , THOUGH , considering Ferdinand is actually someone who has very opposing views to his father. Ferdinand , in a nutshell , is basically the snobby noble trope you’re expecting turned upside down crossed over with a Disney prince. That’s the best way i can describe him.

Ferdinand is very aware of his noble status , but he is very steadfast in his opinion of what is truly means to be a noble. He’s well-aware of the difference between nobles & commoners , but where you’d expect him to use that to degrade people of lesser status , he . . . doesn’t.

Ferdinand strongly believes the duties of a noble constitute of protecting & helping the common people , and that is why they’re so high in status - they’re there to assist and make things better , and not to make things worse , and it absolutely sickens him to his core when there are corrupt nobles who very clearly use their power for selfish & malicious gain.

Like , he’s confident - he’s very confident and sure of himself , but he isn’t a dick ( in that sense ; he can be kind of a dick , don’t get me wrong ) about it. He’s actually extremely polite & respectful , very kind & genuine - like I really don’t think lying is something that this boy is capable of doing , I really don’t. But he’s humble in the sense that he isn’t afraid to admit when he did something wrong , or that he needs to apologize - IN FACT , a lot of his supports have him apologize for approaching someone wrongly or when he’s accused of something.

One example , he has a support with Dorothea where she tells him that she hates him , and instead of fighting her on it , what he does is he tries to figure out why she hates him so he can better himself and fix something he did wrong.

Another example , his B-support with Bernadetta has him apologize for spooking her , and he respects her comfort levels by speaking to her on the other side of the door to her room because now he understands that Bernadetta feels extremely scared & uncomfortable during confrontation.

LIKE . . . okay , in the simplest of words , Ferdinand is just good. He’s a good person and he tries his hardest to be better if someone brings it to his attention that he’s doing something wrong.

BUT ALSO . . . the thing is , Ferdinand is also extremely opinionated to the point where he’ll share his thoughts even if not asked ; and sometimes , it comes out. Dickish. Like , really , he’ll criticize anyone if he believes he should because he hates the idea of someone who doesn’t - exemplified in the beginning of his supports with Hubert , where he condemns Hubert for not openly criticizing Edelgard but Ferdinand’s criticism can come out . . . harsh. Like , he’s respectful still , but he’s harsh. And that is because Ferdinand firmly believes in speaking his mind.

His determination also makes him stubborn & extremely competitive to a point where it becomes damn near annoying and this is , because again , he always strives to better himself - even going as far as to declare Edelgard his rival when she . . . really doesn’t think of him as one , and then he gets his ass kicked and runs with his tail between his legs because he lost. He’s. He’s competitive. I will not lie to you. Like he’s great but aLSO... this guy doesn’t. Know. When to let go.

Bt yeah in a nutshell - Ferdinand is a rich guy who criticizes other rich guys for being jerks and not caring abt other people , and he can come off as a dick but ultimately he means well & he is a LOT better than some of these other assholes out there. Ferdinand’s.... he’s just GOOD.

Bt now that I have the basis of his character out of the way , I want to mention that a major change about him is that I’m changing what route I’m pulling him from - originally , I pulled him from Azure Moon , where if you don’t recruit him you have to kill him at the Great Bridge of Myrddin. So instead , now , I’ll be pulling him from Crimson Flower , where he’s still sided with Edelgard but now she has Byleth & she’s triumphant and everything’s okay on the Empire’s end. But - in other routes - while he’s still with Edelgard , he unfortunately doesn’t make it so if u have AM or VW muses . . . Ferdie didn’t make it.

BUT THAT’S WHAT MAKES THESE THINGS INTERESTINGGGGG and I love it so for that reason ,,, shoves. Ferdinand. In everyone’s direction.

AFTER THE SNAP. / A E R I C - F E R D I N A N D “ F E R D I E ” V I T T O R I

So the more major changes from his pre-revamp portrayal lie in his CT life - his name’s changed , his occupation’s changed , and almost his entire whole past has changed.

Aeric-Ferdinand Vittori was the only child of a film actor & stage actress , pretty famous people , and he was born with the spotlight on him immediately given that he scored his first role as a child at six years old. Since then , he never really had much of an easy time.

His big break was as a teenager in a teen drama that lasted from when he was fourteen to when he was nineteen , the co-star of a vampire television drama in where his character was a fan-favorite. He ultimately left the show and his character was killed off , and he had some starring roles in other movies & the like before he ultimately moved to Broadway. And in that , he had a bit of an easier time , but he would still often feel like he was about to crack under pressure since all eyes were still on him. He was known as a talented young man with a beautiful singing voice , and unfortunately , everyone wants something to do with you when you have something like that.

His parents were also always in the spotlight because of their very public divorce , and it started to bleed into Ferdinand’s career & public image as well with many people poking their nose into his life and asking his opinion on it. Multiple scandals came out claiming that he leaned one way or the other during it and ultimately , that ruined his relationship with his parents. So at twenty-three , he left the Broadway spotlight , and decided to step out of any light in general for a while.

Settling down in Castle Town , a place where nobody bothered to look , was a good start.

He still loved performing , so he worked as an actor at the local theatre on stage - trying his hardest not to get the big roles and take those up , because he was still a relatively big name & when you’re a big name , people lean into their biases.

And then . . . at this point was where he “woke up”. Because his whole past was fake - but there’s always a point where you realize it is.

He had a girlfriend in Castle Town beforehand that he broke up with due to his paranoia that she’d get caught up in the publicity that he did - Nerissa. And he had parents that he didn’t even talk to anymore , and it threw him for a loop because he was reminded of his father back in Adrestia. And suddenly , he’s no longer a soldier or a noble , but with his celebrity status , he’s basically the closest there is to modern nobility at this point.

So . . . Ferdinand feels. Strange. He always loved the opera & he always loved performances but he never thought of himself as someone who would actually do so. It’s strange , but he likes it.

So now , he’s trying to figure out exactly what the hell happened and how he got here and he’s grown pretty used to people not remembering who he is , but it still . . . hurts.

And THAT is where I end this !! I’m gonna go back 2 my plotting DMs and message more ppl but if this gives u some ideas pls do hit me up bc I love Ferdie SOOOO MUCH and I’m excited for his revamp !!

Hilda helped me pick the fabric --- she knows wonders, that one. Incredibly crafty, and very gifted in the arts of fashion! I must have her over to enjoy the finished product, someday. I hear that she may be opening up a jeweller’s guild, though, do not mention such a thing around her. It may be a surprise, and I do not want to have spoiled the announcement for her!

(I could just rewrite this letter, if I was to sincerely be nervous. But I know how good you are at keeping secrets, and I know you would not wish to incur my wrath.)

I hope all is well in Almyra. I have heard whispers of your latest ventures, though I have no idea how accurate said whispers are. Look out for yourself, darling. Snakes lurk in every corner and may wish to bite.

You must tell me when you plan to visit next; I will clear my schedule for much of the duration, for I miss your smile and sweet warmth too much to bear. The Accidental Seduction of Ferdinand von Aegir

(This is the result of 2 am Discord call bullshittery that now has become lore for my FE3H Insert)

Summary: Ferdinand likes women who challenge him, and his father- while not surprised- is still very disappointed.

Duke Aegir liked to think he raised an honorable, respectable man. Sure, he also made sure his son was taken care of to the best of his abilities but surely that was no issue. Right?

Well, as he found out today, he was terribly, horribly wrong.

Ferdinand's letters start as they always do, lauding tales of recent studies, finding out his particular strengths and weaknesses on the battlefield, some of his classmates' antics and Edelgard's progress. And then he got to the fifth paragraph.

Ferdinand had mentioned an Almyran student before, but just how fascinating it was that the Officer's Academy attracted even those outside of Fodlan. Now? Now he went on ceaselessly about how intelligent and introspective this... peasant girl was and how a conversation they had sparked a line of thinking he had never considered before.

"She really told me about myself, Father," what in blazes does that even mean, Ferdinand? "And while I am still unsure of the phrase's meaning, I take it to mean having to reveal harsh truths to someone you are speaking to." He then goes on to say what exactly she told him in so many words. "Such insight would no doubt be of use to me when I succeed you as Prime Minister. As a noble, is it not our duty to ensure the best possible outcome not only for ourselves but for those under our leadership?"

While Ferdinand had a point, it certainly wasn't worth being smitten over. Had his son lost his Sothis-given mind? Apparently so.

"Not only is she intelligent, but she is quite easy on the eyes. I would call her a desert flower, but I have been informed Almyran women do not take kindly to being called that by Fodlanders. Her beauty is an unpolished yet strong kind. If she agreeable to courting me, then I would love for you and Mother to write to her as well." Duke Aegir took a deep breath, pinched the bridge of his nose and wondered just where he went wrong. First, mere peasants are barking at him as if he were their equal and not a scion of the Empire. Second, the peasant in question wasn't even of Fodlan, and as much as he would love to teach her a lesson, it was an action unbecoming of an Aegir, disrespectful to his son, who did not seem to be any worse for wear, and would certainly have dire consequences if he were found out. No, he was above such things. It didn't mean he had to like or respect her, though.

Desert flower or not, she was still likely a crest-less, low class brat who did not deserve his son's admittedly easily won admiration. In his response, he would endeavor to let Ferdinand down gently, remind him of his duty to both House Aegir and the Empire. This wasn't the time for silly infatuations.

But since puberty, nothing with his son was so cut and dry. In an almost unprecedented record for fastest letters sent, Ferdinand stood his ground and insisted it was more than infatuation. He couldn't go a single day without thinking about or seeing her at least once, and her presence in his life has made him a bit more appreciative of the commonwealth that makes his comforts possible. Even he admits it's a little scary how fast and hard he's fallen. Maera was of honest character, and even if she was a little skittish, she means well.

Now Duke Aegir had a name to go with the dirt covered face he was imagining. Why would he want someone who came from a culture of iron and war? Wouldn't he want a woman more sensitive to noble sensibilities? A woman who was actually delicate and refined? He'd ask all these things if the attraction to opinionated, gruff women wasn't a lifelong dilemma. Even as a boy, Ferdinand gravitated to girls who were not easily cowed. First that merchant's daughter who shoved him when he said something she must not have liked when they were four, now this.

Worst of all, his wife was greatly amused at the turn of events. "Perhaps you should suggest he pursue Edelgard if he wants strong women."

"Now Firabella, you and I both know l want him to surpass Edelgard, not wed her."

"Yes, I know, dear husband. But our little Ferdinand has always been fond of women who do not give in to him easily. Or at all. Much like his ancestor. And Her Highness's no nonsense personality would grow on him eventually."

"No, do not further entertain the thought," he huffed, continuing the reading of the letter. "She doesn't even believe in Sothis!"
