kazuha.
The battlefield was strewn with chaos, and amidst the clash of swords and the cries of war, Kazuha fought with all his might, his heart burdened with the weight of the lives at stake. He had hoped that his skills with the blade and mastery of the Anemo vision would be enough to protect those he held dear, but fate had other plans.
As the battle raged on, he caught a glimpse of his lover, a skilled warrior whose presence had always brought him comfort and strength, you. Your eyes met for a fleeting moment, and in that exchange, you understood each other without uttering a word. It was a silent promise that you would find each other amidst the chaos.
But the tide turned against you, and the enemy’s forces seemed endless. Despite your best efforts, the defenders were overwhelmed, and Kazuha found himself standing back-to-back with you, defending against the onslaught.
In the midst of the chaos, an arrow found its mark. Time seemed to slow as the arrow pierced through your chest, and the world around you faded into the background. Kazuha’s heart clenched in horror as he caught you, your strength waning with each passing moment.
“Kazuha,” you gasped, blood staining your lips. “Can I hold your hand?”
Tears welled up in Kazuha’s eyes as he clutched your hand tightly, trying to offer some semblance of comfort amidst the pain. “Yes, of course,” he choked out, his voice trembling with grief.
Your hand trembled in his grasp, and Kazuha could feel your life slipping away like sand through his fingers. He could do nothing but watch helplessly as the light in your eyes began to fade. You smiled weakly at him, a bittersweet expression filled with love and regret.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered, your voice barely audible above the sounds of battle. “I wish… we had more time.”
“Don’t speak like that,” Kazuha pleaded, his voice breaking. “We’ll get through this. I won’t let you go.”
But you knew better, and as your strength waned, you continued to smile at him, your touch growing weaker by the second.
“I love you,” you murmured, your breath becoming shallow. “Always…”
Tears streamed down Kazuha’s cheeks as he held you close, trying to shield you from the harsh reality of the world around you. He wished he could turn back time, rewrite the events that led to this tragic moment, but life was unforgiving in its cruelty.
Your hand in his grew colder, and your breathing ceased. Your life force, once vibrant and strong, slipped away, leaving behind only a lifeless body in Kazuha’s arms.
Kazuha held your hand tightly, unable to let go, as if keeping that connection alive could somehow bring you back. He cried out in anguish, the weight of grief crashing down upon him like an unforgiving storm.
In that moment, amidst the chaos of the battlefield, Kazuha felt an emptiness he had never known before. He had lost not only a lover but a confidant, a soulmate with whom he had shared dreams, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
And as the battle raged on, Kazuha clung to your lifeless hand, lost in sorrow, with a heart that would forever bear the burden of their memory.
albedo.
Albedo’s heart pounded in his chest as he cradled his you in his arms. He was just about to descend from his lab on Dragonspine to meet up with you as he promised, only to see you laying on your own blood at the bottom of the mountain. He had seen you only hours prior, he’d laughed with you, but now, all that remained was a sea of sorrow, the bitter taste of loss overwhelming his senses.
He looked down at the face that he had cherished so dearly, now drained of all warmth and life. Your eyes, once filled with light and love, now stared back at him with a haunting emptiness. Albedo’s hands trembled, and tears welled up in his eyes, blurring his vision.
“Can you hold my hand?” a weak voice whispered, barely audible amidst the sounds of grief and despair that surrounded them. Albedo’s heart wrenched at the sound, and he quickly took your freezing hand into his own.
Tears streamed down Albedo’s cheeks as he clutched your hand tightly. “Yes, of course,” he choked out, his voice breaking with pain. “I’ll hold your hand for as long as you need, my love.”
He brought your intertwined hands to his lips and placed a tender kiss on the once-warm skin, now cold and lifeless. Memories of your time together flooded his mind – the laughter you shared, the dreams you nurtured, and the love you built with each passing day. Now, all that was left were shattered hopes and dreams.
“I’m so sorry,” Albedo whispered, his voice filled with regret and guilt. “I couldn’t protect you. I failed.”
You weakly shook your head, mustering a faint smile. “No, don’t blame yourself,” you managed to say. “You… you brought me so much happiness, Albedo. Please, don’t forget that.”
Albedo’s heart ached at the words, realizing that he had to find the strength to carry on without you. But it felt like an impossible task, as if the very essence of his being had been torn apart.
“I don’t know if I can,” he confessed, his voice trembling with sorrow. “You’re my everything.”
You fingers tightened around his hand as if trying to hold on just a little longer. “You’re strong, Albedo. Stronger than you know,” you said, your voice barely audible. “Promise me… you’ll keep going… for both of us.”
Albedo nodded, his tears falling freely now. “I promise,” he whispered, trying to keep his voice steady. “I’ll live for the both of us. But it won’t be the same without you.”
Your breaths became shallower, and Albedo knew that your life was slipping away. He leaned closer, trying to memorize every detail of your face, never wanting to forget.
“I love you,” you whispered, your words fading like a gentle breeze. “Always.”
“I love you too,” Albedo replied, his voice choked with emotion. “Always and forever.”
And with those final words, your grip on his hand slowly weakened until it was gone completely. Albedo held onto your hand a moment longer, pressing it against his heart as if trying to keep your love alive within him.
As grief consumed him, Albedo felt a mix of emotions. Sorrow, anger, and a deep longing to see his lover again, even if it were just for a moment. But he knew he had to continue, to honor your memory and the love you shared.
Albedo gently laid your body down, closing your eyes with tender care. He stood, feeling the weight of loss heavy on his shoulders, but also the weight of your love, and your belief in him, pushing him forward. Though his heart was shattered, he would carry your love with him, always.
And as he walked away from that place of sorrow, he knew that the pain would remain, but so would the memories of a love that would never truly fade away.
aether.
Aether’s heart pounded in his chest as he cradled his dying lover in his arms. The battlefield around them had turned into a chaotic canvas of destruction, but his attention was solely focused on the person he held dear. You were slipping away, and he could feel your life force fading like a waning star.
“Can you hold my hand?” you whispered, your voice barely audible amidst the cacophony of war. Aether’s eyes filled with tears, and he gently clasped your frail hand in his own, interlocking your fingers. His touch was warm, providing a sense of comfort amidst the pain.
“I’m here,” he choked out, his voice trembling. “I won’t let go.”
Your breathing was shallow, and your once-bright eyes were now dim, but you managed a faint smile. It was a bittersweet expression, as if you were trying to convey so much in that fleeting moment. Memories of you flooded Aether’s mind, from the first time you met under the starlit sky to the promises you made to each other.
“You have to promise me,” you murmured, your voice barely above a whisper, “that you’ll keep going. That you’ll find happiness again.”
Aether couldn’t find the strength to respond, his throat constricted with grief. He knew that in a world without his lover, life would lose its luster, its purpose. But he understood that you were trying to ease his pain, even in your last breaths.
“No,” he whispered, tears streaming down his cheeks, “I can’t bear to live without you. Please don’t leave. Not you too.”
You smiled again, a mixture of sadness and love in your eyes. “You are strong, Aether, and you will find the strength to carry on. I will always be with you.”
Aether’s heartache intensified, and he leaned down to press his forehead against yours. He wished he could freeze time, to hold you forever, but he knew it was slipping away like grains of sand through his fingers.
“I love you,” you said, their voice fading into a whisper.
“And I love you,” Aether replied, his voice breaking.
Your grip on his hand loosened, and Aether felt the last pulse of life slip away from you. He held onto your hand a moment longer, not wanting to let go, but eventually, he lowered it gently to your chest.
In that moment, as the world around him continued to rage with chaos, Aether felt an overwhelming emptiness inside. His lover was gone, and the pain of your absence consumed him. But he knew he had to honor your last wish—to find a way to live without you, to keep your love alive in his heart.
With tears in his eyes, Aether kissed your forehead one last time before he stood, facing the uncertain future that lay ahead. Your love would forever be his guiding light, and he would cherish every memory, every moment you had shared.
And as the battles raged on and the world continued to turn, Aether vowed to carry your love with him, a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. Though your physical presence was gone, your love would endure, a reminder that even in the face of loss, the power of love could transcend beyond the boundaries of life and death.
heizou.
Heizou knelt on the cold, damp ground, cradling your cold body in his arms. He had just returned home from work, when the last thing he expected to see was see you laying on your own blood in your shared home. He held you closer, your blood staining his hands, mingling with his own tears. His heart felt as though it had been torn apart, and the pain was almost unbearable.
The world seemed to slow down as Heizou stared into the fading eyes of his beloved. Each second felt like an eternity, and yet, it was slipping away all too quickly. He could see the struggle in your gaze, the effort it took to speak those final words.
“Can I hold your hand?” you whispered, your voice getting lower with each word.
Tears streamed down Heizou’s face, and he gently clasped your trembling hand with his own, intertwining your fingers. He felt your warmth slowly waning, and he held on tighter, as if he could somehow will life back into you with the strength of his grip.
“You don’t have to ask,” Heizou choked out, his voice breaking with sorrow. “I’ll hold your hand forever.”
You managed a faint smile, your strength visibly waning. “I… I love you,” you managed to say, your voice barely above a whisper.
“I love you too,” Heizou replied, his voice trembling. “You’re my everything, my reason for living.”
As the commotion outside your shared home began to get louder, the people having noticed the blood stains, Heizou’s focus remained solely on you. The world outside ceased to exist for him, and he poured all his love and energy into holding you, trying to be your anchor in this storm of pain and suffering.
In your last moments, you clung to each other tightly, as if afraid to let go. Heizou’s heart ached as he felt your life slipping away from him, the person who meant more to him than anything else in the world. He wished he could have done something, anything, to save you.
But in the end, all he could do was be there, holding your hand, providing them with comfort in their final moments. Heizou would carry the weight of this loss forever, the memories of you etched into his soul.
Even as people left you two alone and the world moved on, Heizou remained on that cold, damp ground, cradling the body of the one he had loved and lost, his heart forever scarred by the pain of that fateful day.
xiao.
Xiao knelt on the damp ground, his heart pounding with anguish as he cradled your shaking form in his arms. The battlefield around you was silent, the chaos of the battle having retreated, leaving behind only the echoes of suffering and loss.
Your once bright eyes, now dulled by death, stared up at him, and Xiao couldn’t bear to look away. Your hands, once intertwined in a promise of eternity, now lay limp and still. Tears welled up in his eyes, but he refused to let them fall.
“Can you hold my hand?” your voice was a faint whisper, barely audible amidst the devastation surrounding them.
Xiao’s heart shattered at those words, but he gently took your hand in his own, holding it with all the tenderness and love he had for you. “I will always hold your hand,” he choked out, his voice breaking with grief.
You managed a weak smile, the corners of your lips lifting slightly. “Even in death,” you murmured, your voice barely reaching Xiao’s ears.
“I’ll follow you anywhere, my love,” Xiao vowed, his fingers trembling as he clung tightly to the hand that was growing colder by the second. “Even to the ends of this cruel world.”
Your breathing grew fainter, and your grip on his hand loosened. Xiao felt his heartache intensify, knowing that he couldn’t change the cruel fate that had befallen you.
“Thank you… for loving me,” you whispered, your voice a mere thread of sound.
“Thank you for making my life meaningful,” Xiao replied, his voice choked with emotion. “I’m grateful for every moment we shared.”
Your eyes locked for a final time, and in that fleeting moment, a lifetime of love and memories passed between you. Xiao wished he could freeze time, to hold on to this moment forever, but life had other plans.
As the last breath left your lips, Xiao leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. “Rest now,” he whispered, his voice breaking with sorrow. “I’ll carry you in my heart. Until we meet again.”
He remained there, holding your lifeless hand, as tears streamed down his cheeks, mingling with the blood-stained soil beneath you. Xiao knew that a part of him had died that day with his beloved, but he also knew that your love would live on, eternal and undying, no matter the circumstances.
wanderer.
Wanderer knelt on the ground, his heart pounding in his chest as he cradled you in his arms. The world around you seemed to blur, the noise of battle fading into an eerie silence. The battle had been brutal, and he had fought with all his might to protect the one he loved, but fate had dealt them a cruel hand.
Your once vibrant eyes now glistened with pain, and a weak smile graced your lips. Blood stained your clothing, and Wanderer could feel your life slipping away.
“Hey,” you whispered, your voice barely audible. “I don’t have much time, do I?”
Wanderer choked back a sob, clutching your body tightly. “Don’t talk like that. You’re going to be fine. We’ll get you help.”
A soft chuckle escaped your lips, but it quickly turned into a cough. “You can’t lie to me, my love.” you managed to say, your breath shallow.
Tears finally streamed down Wanderer’s face as he pressed his forehead against yours. “I love you,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “I’m sorry if I didn’t say it often. I can’t bear to lose you.”
You trembled in his grasp, and gazed into his eyes with a mixture of love and sadness. “Can I hold your hand?” you asked, your voice barely audible.
Wanderer nodded frantically, intertwining his fingers with yours. He held your hand close to his heart, hoping that somehow he could transfer strength to you.
“I’m scared,” you admitted, tears pooling in your eyes. “I don’t want to leave you.”
He brushed a strand of hair away from your face, his touch gentle and full of affection, reserved only for you. “You won’t have to. Just hold on a little longer, and we’ll get you help. We’ll face this together.”
Your grip tightened weakly on his hand. “You’re my light, my love, my everything,” you murmured. “You always have been. Promise me you’ll keep shining, even when I’m gone.”
Wanderer could feel whatever was left of his heart shatter with your words. “I promise,” he choked out. “But you can’t leave me. I can’t do this without you.”
Your breathing grew shallower, and your voice became softer. “You’re strong, my love,” you said. “You’ll find a way. Remember me, but don’t let my memory hold you back. Live your life to the fullest. Find happiness again.”
“I can’t imagine life without you,” he whispered, his voice trembling. “How am I supposed to go on?”
Your only response was a brief smile, and he squeezed your cold hand tightly. “I’ll never let go,” he vowed. “Not even when you’re gone.”
Your breathing slowed, and your eyes locked with his one last time. “I love you,” you whispered, your voice fading away.
“I love you too,” he whispered back, his voice cracking.
And then, with your hand still clasped in his, you were gone.
Wanderer held your lifeless form closer, his tears falling like rain. He knew that life would never be the same again, that a piece of his heart had been taken with you. But he also knew that he had to keep the promise he made. With a heavy heart, he stood, carrying your memory with him as he faced the world without you, knowing that he would always carry your love and light with him.

Aether
You were tapping your fingers on the kitchen table. It had a somewhat rhythmical sound to it, yet inside, you were feeling restless and defeated.
The food you had spent almost the entire afternoon preparing and cooking, has already gotten cold in front of you. Keeping hope that Aether might still show up, you had reheated it three separate times. And yet, he never showed up.
He was three hours late at this point and you have lost all hope that he was actually showing up any time soon. Even though he had promised you a hundred times that he would not forget this time.
With a sigh, you stand up from the table, collecting the food and bringing it back to the kitchen. You contemplated wether it would be worth it to keep, but in the end, you just threw it away, thinking that it would be bad from all the reheating you had done.
Cleaning up took you longer than expected, your movements slow as your thoughts contined to drift off all the time. Wandering back to the absence of your boyfriend. How he promised to be here today, with you, since he already missed or had forgotten about other dates in the past.
You understand him, you really do. Travelling the entirety of Teyvat, trying to find his missing sister. But then again, why get into a relationship with you when he knew he would be absent the entire time? Why did you even agree to dating Aether in the first place?
Thoughts like that continued to plague your mind until you were done washing up, putting the damp towel away as you decided to head to bed for the day. A part of you still hoped that he didn't forget, that he was just running late and would burst through the door anytime, apologizing profusely for the delay. You hoped for this the entire time you got changed, brushed your teeth and then tugged yourself in bed.
Yet it never happened.
A single tear ran down your cheek as you turned around and fell asleep, the dissapointment having settled deep within you.
Over the course of the next two days, you contined to hope for Aether to come back, while you were also reevaluating the entirety of your relationship with Aether at this point.
He was gone 90% of the time, and even if he did come back to Mondstadt, he only stayed for a couple of days. And even in those few days, the time you actually got to spend alone with him was very limited, making you feel like you barely even had a relationship with him at all, at this point. He was always so focused on finding his sister and helping others, that there just wasn't any time left for you.
You took your time to thourougly think things over those two days, and in the end, you came to the decision that this whole thing wasn't worth it anymore.
You were done waiting around for him. You were done feeling lonely and isolated, hoping for Aether to come back to you just for him to leave again. You wanted to feel loved and appreciated, like you deserved to.
So, on the third day after he missed yet another date, you pulled through with your decision and packed up all of the things he had left at your place. Which wasn't much since he wasn't around that much. It all fit pretty much into one single backpack.
You were just finishing up when you suddenly heard the sound of the front door unlocking, a sound that you desperately had hoped to hear just a few days ago. A sound that usually sent butterflies flying through your entire body. And a sound that now made your heart sink. You had made the decision to end this relationship, and yet, you didn't feel ready to face Aether just yet. But there was no running away anymore.
"(Name)? I'm back!", you heard his soft voice call out to you as he closed the door behind him gently. You took a deep breath in, trying to put on a tough facade, then grabbed the backpack and headed out of the bedroom to face your still-boyfriend for the final time.
Aether's face lit up into a bright smile upon seeing you, but when he didn't get the same reaction from you, his face dropped a bit.
"What's wrong, (Name)? Did something happen?", he asked, concern evident in his voice.
"It sure did. Remember when you promised to show up for our dinner date three days ago? The one you swore up and down you wouldn't forget this time and actually be there for?", you asked him. Your tone of voice was utterly calm, no hint of accusation found whatsoever.
You could see his face drop in sudden realization and he already opened his mouth to say something, most likely apology after apology, with the promise to do better in the future. Like he always did. But before Aether could get out a single word, you extended the backpack towards him, waiting for him to take it.
"..what's this?", he asked as he hesitantly reached out and took it from your hand.
"All your stuff you had lying around here. I'm breaking up with you, Aether. I'm done with all of this. Please leave."
"Wait, (Name)! I'm sorry, okay! I know this is purely my fault, but please don't do this! I promise this won't happen again! Please, give me a chance to prove myself!", he started begging as soon as the words of breaking up with him left your lips.
Your heart clenched at hearing his words, you wanted to trust him so badly, but it was finally time to prioritize yourself.
"No. I'm sorry, but that's not happening. You've had chance after chance to prove yourself. To prove to me that our relationship actually meant something to you. But time and time again, you only proved to me that you don't care. You only care about finding your sister. And that is fine. But I'm done hoping to become just as important to you when that's never going to happen."
"No, you're wrong! I love you, (Name)! Please, don't do this!", he was begging now, almost falling to his knees when he saw how serious you were in your decision.
A single tear ran down your cheek and you couldn't help the small smile forming. "I love you too, Aether. I do, but this just doesn't work anymore. Maybe, this is just a case of meeting the right person at the wrong time. But regardless, I can't do this anymore. I can't contine to wait around for you when I could be with someone who appreciates me like I deserve to. So please, just.. leave."
He was silent after you said that, staring at you. You could both feel his heart shattering into pieces, tears threatening to fall, but he kept them in. After a moment, he just nodded, gripping the backpack with his stuff close to his chest as he turned around and headed towards the front door.
But before he left, he turned to face you once again. "I really do love you, (Name). But if this is what you want, I won't fight you on it. I honestly wish you the best in life, and that you find happiness."
"...Good luck with finding your sister.", you said after a nod, which he returned. And then, he opened the front door, leaving both your house and your life.
Only then did the reality of it all sink into you and you couldn't hold back the tears anymore. It hurt, but you still thought it to be the right decision.
You'd heal, but it will take some time..

Kaeya
For a few weeks now, your Cavalry Captain boyfriend has been swamped with work, to the point where he spends entire nights at the Knights headquarters to try and finish up, but every time, a new pile of work gets added on, so he just never quite finishes with it.
Thanks to this, your relationship and the time spent with him has suffered quite a lot. You try to be understanding and support him with whatever you can, but it's hard not seeing him at all.
The few times he comes home, he almost instantly gets into bed and falls asleep, only to be gone again when you wake up. Or, when you still used to go visit him to bring him something to eat. But when he yelled at you for distracting him from his work, you also stopped doing that.
You had been feeling neglected for some time now, but every time you bring this up to Kaeya, he brushes you off and tells you that it'll be over soon. That he will be done with his work soon and then everything will go back to the way it has been. You want to believe him so bad, but it's hard.
But after that talk, nothing seemed to change for yet another week, so you decided to try and talk to him again. This time, it seemed to go a lot smoother than last time, and you actually got him to see things from your point of view, which led to the two of you agreeing to just take some time for the relationship again and go on a date, since you haven't been able to do that for some time.
Nothing too fancy, just going out for some nice dinner and having the time to talk to each other again, maybe a walk around the city or outside for a bit before heading home again. You didn't need anything fancy or big, it would be enough just to spend some time with your boyfriend again.
At the night you two settled on, you arrived first and got seated. Since you didn't see any harm in it, you ordered yourself something to drink while waiting for Kaeya to show up.
And wait you did.
After twenty minutes, you ordered some wine.
After another half hour, he still wasn't there, no sign of him ever showing up.
You saw the pityful looks of other patrons and the staff, which only led you to drink even more.
When Kaeya didn't show up after another twenty minutes, you decided to pay and leave. The entire way back to your home, your head hung low and you were fighting the tears that threatened to escape.
Only when the front door was finally shut behind you did you allow the floodgates to open, the tears now freely running down your cheeks as you sank down along the door, hitting the floor and finally breaking down.
The alcohol in your system helped to rile your feelings up and your cried and sobbed for what felt like forever. When the tears finally stopped, you felt like running on autopilot when you got changed and walked into the bedroom.
To your utter surprise, there was Kaeya, fast asleep on the bed, like nothing was wrong. You just stood there, mouth hanging open when you saw him sleeping peacefully.
So, he totally forgot about the date and just went home and to sleep without a care in the world.
You had half a mind to wake him up and confront him, but decided against it, seeing as the alcohol would probably not contribute to you making smart decisions. So, you decided to wait until morning to do so.
When morning rose, you were woken up by Kaeya as he got himself ready for work. Normally, you'd just go back to sleep, but not this time. Instead, you sat up and looked at him, and when he turned to you, he noticed your red and swollen eyes.
"You've been crying? What happened?", he asked you. He was concerned, but while asking you, he continued to get himself ready, only half his attention on you, even when noticing something wasn't right with you. It ticked you off, but you still tried to remain calm for now.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe the fact that I got stood up by my own boyfriend yesterday. Maybe the fact that I was worried about something happening to him, only to find out that he totally forgot about our date and just went to sleep without a care in the world.", you said, sarcasm rooted deep within your statement.
Hearing that, a quiet string of curses left Kaeya's mouth before he came facing you again. "Yeah, I totally forgot. Sorry about that. But it's not like it was that important anyways. I had a pretty exhausting day yesterday, I was tired, so I forgot about it."
You were stumped by his words, your eyes widening. "That's it? That's your excuse for not showing up?"
"Relax. It's not like it was a life or death situation. We can have another date at any given time.", he just brushed you off like that, waving his hand like it all didn't mean anything to him.
And you realized at that point that nothing was going to change if you didn't do anything about it.
"I want to break up.", you said, tone cold and controlled, and you finally caught Kaeya's attention with that. He froze in his steps and turned around to face you, now finally putting his full attention on you.
"...What?", he asked, his one eye that wasn't hidden by his eyepatch widening in disbelief, like he couldn't believe those words you just spoke.
"You heard me. I want to break up with you."
"Over that? Because I forgot one date?"
"No. Because I barely get to see you anymore. You're never there to spend time with me anymore. And when you promised me to finally do so and go on a date with me, you stood me up! I know my worth and I know I deserve better than that."
"You know how busy the Knights have been recently! Everyone has to work hard these days!"
"And yet, everyone else still seems to care enough about themselves to leave when work is over and spend some time away, maybe with their families. Except you.
Have you ever considered asking for help with all the work you have? Asking someone else to take over a portion of it for you? Or just going to Jean and telling her to not add anymore for you to do when you haven't even finished your other work?"
You listed off all the things he could have done to handle the work better, and knowing that Kaeya hadn't done anything to ask fo help, he remained silent, averting his eyes as the guilty conscious caught up to him.
"I tried to be understand, and I tried to help you. But I can't keep going like this without anything changing. Your work is becoming more important to you than anything else. And I'm not about to sit back and watch you destroy yourself."
After that, silence ensued between the two of you, where you were staring at Kaeya, waiting for him to say something, while he was intently staring at the floor, thinking over everything that had happened and realising that you were right. He has been neglecting you and the relationship. And because of that, he was about to loose you... He couldn't let that happen!
"You're right..", he said, his voice quiet, but growing stronger with every word he said. "You're right. I was to caught up with everything and I didn't even think to ask for help. I didn't even realize how I was treating you as a result. I'm sorry, (Name).
I.. I know this isn't an excuse for anything, but I promise I'll do better. Just please.. give me a chance to prove it to you. I promise to treat you better from now on, like you deserve to be treated. Please, give me one last chance."
He was walking over to you, as you were still sitting in the bed, and dropped to his knees in front of the bed, taking one of your hand between his hands, holding it close in front of his face, and you could see a single tear run down his cheek from his blue eye that was staring at your intertwined hands.
You wring with yourself, contemplating your choices and wether you wanted to go through with the breakup or not. With bated breath, Kaeya remained where he was, just waiting for your answer. He didn't know if he could accept it if you did decide to break up with him. He never wanted to loose you.. especially not over something like this...
In the end, you let out a sigh as you leaned towards him, lowering your hands so you could look into his eye properly.
"Okay. I'm giving you one chance. One only. If nothing is changing, I'm going through with the breakup. I can't go on feeling like not even a second choice to you."
Relief washed over his face, evident by the first shocked expression, then the smile that soon followed. Kaeya leaning into you as well, putting his forehead against yours, his eye closing as he soaked up the feeling of you so close to him again.
"You're always my first choice, (Name). I'm sorry I made you feel like that wasn't the case. I love you, and I promise I'll do my best to prove it to you from here on out."

Dainsleif
You thought you knew what you were getting yourself into when entering a relationship with Dainsleif. You may not know everything about him or his past, but you didn't need to in order to love him. That's what you had thought, at least...
Now, after some months of dating... you did slowly realize that maybe, love isn't always enough.
How often was it that he was gone, claiming to be searching for something, yet never telling you what it was, aside that it was important and had to do with his past.
How often did you wait for him when he told you he'd be back after a week, only for him to never keep the promise.
How often have you told him how lonely you felt without him, only for him to spend a bit more time with you, before ultimately having to leave again? And every time he left, it hurt more than all the times before.
And now, it seems you've reached a breaking point.
Today was your six month anniversary with him, and although you weren't usually one to celebrate such things, you decided to use it as an excuse to spend some alone time with him again. When you told him about your plans, he seemed excited and promised to be there to celebrate the event with you.
But he never showed up.
You've been waiting the whole day for him, but seeing as it was almost the next day already, you were certain that he wasn't going to show up anymore.
It wasn't even like you had something big planned. You just wanted some nice and quiet alone time with him, to celebrate you staying together for so long. But now, you felt stupid for it.
Why were you even wasting so much time and energy into this when it didn't seem like he was doing the same thing in the first place?
You thought back to the time you asked him about the celebration, and how he seemed excited. Was that for real? Or was he only faking it to appease you? You couldn't tell anymore.
He promised to be there, but here you were, all alone. Like you seem to be almost every day now..
But even then, hope was a traitorous little thing. It made you stay, hoping for him to show up and apologize for making you wait. Only for that hope to be crushed again and again with every day that passed after it.
And yet, you kept hoping and waiting for Dainsleif, for a whole week. And still, he never showed up.
He told you he would only be gone for a short while, that he would be back on time for the celebration.
He promised it... and broke it so easily.
As the week had passed, and you didn't get a single sign of him, all the hope you had left had finally been crushed, with no hope of it ever coming back. You were finally done. You couldn't handle the pain and heartbreak any longer. On the inside, you were done with this relationship. It hardly felt like it even was one to begin with.
You took your time when you were packing up your things, since you didn't think he'd show up now, of all times. And you should be proven right, once again.
Still, you felt bad if you just up and left without a word of explanation, so you decided to write him a little note. Which turned out to be more of a letter that you then left on the kitchen table.
Getting the help of an old friend, you managed to grab all of your stuff in only one trip. You did feel bad for leaving just like that, but it also felt... liberating.
Like you could finally breathe again.
A huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders. And although you still loved Dain, you also felt.. happy.
....
It took Dainsleif another whole week until he finally returned back to the small home he shared with you. He couldn't wait to finally see you again, hold you in his arms, feel you against him again. He'd missed you so very much.
He'd wanted to come back for so long, but the Abyss has been relentless in hunting him down, and he couldn't risk to lead them to you, so he had to stay away until he was certain that it was safe to return again.
But, upon entering the home, he immediately knew something was off. It just felt... empty.
He called out your name, but when no response came, he went to search for you. When Dainsleif couldn't find you, panic began to settle in him. He was about to run out and look for you, when some pieces of paper caught his attention.
The letter you wrote for him.
The more he read through it, the more his hands began to shake, crumbling the paper between his fingers.
When he finished reading through its contents, he didn't know what to feel.
There was anger, despair, some resentment, but most of all.. guilt. And longing.
A longing to go out and search for you, to clear things up and, if he had to, beg for you to take him back.
But he couldn't.
You had made it very clear in your letter that you didn't want to see him anymore. And no matter how much it hurt him, Dainsleif had always respected your wishes. To act against them now, would only make him feel worse.
He would honor your wish for now, hoping that, maybe, in the future, you'd seek him out to talk things through with him. Maybe then, he could ask for your forgiveness, and hopefully, another chance.
But until then, he'd make sure that you'd be safe from afar, watching over you and keeping his love for you alive..

— i love you endlessly ! ★ | edition: siblings, version 1.0
ft. lyney + lynette, kaeya + diluc, aether + lumine & albedo + klee. content. heavy angst, all family/platonic love, character death, mentions of blood, injury, light cursing. references to lyney’s vision story + lyney and lynette's story, hints at kaeya + lyney with ptsd & lyney with separation anxiety. aether + lumine is purely headcanon and is not representative of the future of genshin.
notes. my first time writing anything ever with klee and this is how it’s going… i’m so sorry klee omfg. this actually used to have ayato+ayaka and jean+barbara in it !! but i cut them out so i could post it since it’s been in my drafts for a LONG time and they weren’t finished yet. i’ll do a part two with them. taglist — open. @ryuryuryuyurboat @soleillunne @rainswept

✉️ mail received! sender: lyney & lynette
lyney lacks to admit the pure fear that sends shocks and shivers down his body when lynette is not within immediate sight of him. she likes to chime that he says some weird things; perhaps he does on late nights when lynette is accompanying freminet without him - father had assigned him to a different mission and he'd finished much earlier than her. thoughts rush through his mind quicker than he can process them, his aching legs pacing the floor of his bedroom.
are they okay? did something go wrong? lyney's mind is restless at all times, he needs to know lynette is safe. in a few moments of silence, he'll see a younger lynette in the dark, her ears flattened to her head and tail tucked in antagonising fear - the night that father had saved her life, mere moments from the potential loss of her life. lyney's throat will always tighten, breathing rapidly until his lungs burn.
he knows exactly how he got his vision, in the twilight of a cold night, surrounded by danger. he knows that he had begged father so recklessly for a delusion simply to fill the gap that the lack of a vision had given him but he didn't care, he wanted to accompany his sister. he couldn't let her out of his sight again.
one attachment added!
there's a painful silence that's filling the orphanage. on most days, it would be bustling - after all, father had acquired many orphans in light of their dire situations being unable to refuse such kind help as she offers. lyney catches himself frowning, feet pacing the worn floorboards of his bedroom floor. if lynette was here, she'd have already quipped about how the floor will 'disappear beneath him if he keeps pacing.'
the reminder of his twin sister should make him smile. it should draw a crack of a smile to his face and curl the corners of his lips upwards but it doesn't. she still hasn't returned from her mission and while lyney refuses to admit that he's been counting the hours since he was separated from lynette, he most definitely has.
an oil lamp burns by his bedside, painting the room in an orange hue as it glows and yet casting shadows across the walls. lyney can't help but catch sight of the shadows that night, painted on the walls in the glow of roaring flames that crackled from where they burned. he's painfully reminded of the fragile young girl lynette was, vulnerable and almost caught in a life threatening situation. he contemplates what would have happened to her if father hadn't interrupted in time but he's quick to shake his head. he's seen many what if scenarios in his nightmares, waking him as his body trembles and his lungs burn for oxygen.
the pained reminders stain his mind, torturing him when there's a burst of noise from the orphanage's entry hall; multiple voices screaming his name repeatedly, he can hear them calling for him and begging to know where he is. lyney whips his head towards his bedroom door, storming forth as he hurriedly opens it. he catches eyes with one of the orphans who'd been calling his name so painfully. they're wide, fearful and their face is void of colour.
"lyney! it's lynette-" need they say more? the boy rushes forward, skipping steps as he runs down the spiral staircases dressed in lavish red carpets that father had installed for a sense of aesthetic - she had claimed she couldn't work nor focus in a place so bland. - there's a sense of dread that fuels every inch of lyney's body, tearing him apart when he bursts into the entry hall.
beneath a dazzling chandelier with a warm amber glow, arlecchino herself has nestled beside the form of someone on the checker tiled floor, surrounded by orphans that she's trying desperately to shoo away, demanding for space in all of her authority. she's seem awry, not her typical self and lyney's lilac eyes fall to the familiar shoes of his twin sister, poking from the crowd.
his heart sinks, colour leaving his face as he hesitantly approaches; she's just injured, he convinces himself when he sees the stain of red on her usually pristine white shirt, something she was devoted to keeping that way for their shows. the orphans part at the sight of him, the dark eyes of arlecchino raising to him before she trails back down to lynette.
the girl is propped onto her lap, head rested against arlecchino's thighs. lynette has always been a pale girl, lyney knows this well enough whenever he glimpses his own shade of skin colour but she's even paler than usual, her eyelashes fluttered shut. the silence between himself and father is almost deafening.
"she's alright, isn't she?" he barely manages to croak out, seeing how arlecchino has pressed a lanky hand to where lynette's blood has seeped from. she almost grimaces, it's the most emotion lyney has seen from her for a while.
"she's already gone, lyney," was that a crack in her voice? lyney doesn't have the time to ponder it when his vision goes dark, he's dizzy and there's static in the corners of his eyes when he struggles to get air into his lungs, "freminet is in the infirmary."
the infirmary, yes - that means he's getting medical help but the same can't be said for his twin, who he had lacked to part with since they were born. the twin he would tell everything to, who he trusted with every fibre of his being as much as she did with him too.
there's a stinging in his eyes when tears prick at them, threatening to spill the longer he stares at lynette's body. he falls to his knees, not caring for the pain it causes when the floor is less than comfortable, pressing his face into lynette's clothing. she smells the same as she always does, the faint smell of the sugary desserts he'd reprimand her for, lumidouce bells and the ocean.
he lets out a cry into the fabric of her clothing, his hands gripping at it until his knuckles turn white. his cheek presses to her neck, she's cold to the touch already and arlecchino can't help but turn her head away at the sight of her most useful child reduced to a sobbing, shaking mess on the entry hall floor, gripping his dead sister for dear life.
✉️ mail received! sender: kaeya & diluc
despite going down two very different paths of life and perhaps saying things they shouldn’t have, they cannot deny the invisible ties of brotherly love. no matter how much diluc may throw sharp words at the cryo vision, they see their younger selves sometimes like reflections of the past in a shattered mirror’s shards.
on dreary nights where the rain storms against glass windows, when one brother remains consumed by a sweet yet bitter liquid on his tongue and the other brandishes a claymore in the night, they recognise their indifferences. they recognise the unshakeable bond that their pasts have tested to its limit. those around them too acknowledge that the past cannot truly deter emotions.
kaeya frequents the dawn winery much at the expense of his brother, who grumbles and snatches bottles of (almost stolen) wine from his tanned hands. it could be a misfortune he carries to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and this scene… feels so familiar to him.
one attachment added!
a crack of lightning decorates the dark sky looming over mondstadt. it’s been like this for a few hours now, trapping the two brothers in an awkward silence as they linger around the manor. diluc has made the effort to avoid his brother and yet tresses of blue hair keep getting in his peripheral vision.
“there’s been fatui sightings not far north from the winery,” kaeya’s icy gaze flickers towards the office door that isn’t completely shut, “perhaps we should tell master kaeya—”
“he doesn’t need to know, i’ll deal with it personally.” the deep voice of diluc booms, full of authority and the slightest attitude at the mention of his brother that makes kaeya click his tongue, pocketing the small, circular mora he’d been tossing with his thumb as diluc emerges from the office, the winery worker not far behind.
the brothers exchange a look, perhaps this scenario is all too familiar for them both to let it play out. diluc bites his tongue when he prepares for those words he knows kaeya will say.
“he doesn’t need to know?” kaeya mocks lowkey, a coy smile on his face as he dusts his hands together and approaches the redhead, “i’ll be accompanying you.”
and somehow the fiery red male cannot argue back, his eyes narrowing at his brother in distaste when he accepts his fate - it is raining after all, maybe kaeya’s vision could come in more useful than the cavalry captain typically tends to be, his breath laced with wine.
the brothers set off immediately, heads hanging low as they follow the muddy paths out of the winery; ones they’d followed many times before. something about this reminds them of how accustomed to each other’s presence they are. the reports from various workers at the winery are indeed correct and whilst diluc storms into the fight, vision ablaze with an anger that cannot be sated at the cost of a few mere fatui deaths, kaeya cannot help but ponder if there’s too many of them to take on by themselves.
rain impairs his vision, trickling down his face and soaking his hair to his skin. brandishing a blade in his hand, the young man can't help but think he's seen this before. another crack of lightning brightens the sky as a weapon is plunged into diluc's abdomen, his face pales as ruby eyes meet kaeya's panicked gaze.
the realisation hits when suddenly kaeya sees crepus' face over his brother's. he sees that evening when he arrived a little too late, the air struggling to get to his lungs no matter how he gasps for breath, clouds of breath quick to disperse in front of cold lips. kaeya is quick to finish the remaining enemies off before he's forced to look at diluc's slumped body in the mud.
"diluc?" he whispers, kneeling beside the bleeding man. diluc's gloved hands are pressed to his wound, a grimace on his face, "brother?"
"i heard you the first time," he grumbles, not wanting to admit the warmth that consumes his adrenaline filled heart at the sentiment behind hearing kaeya say brother once again, "..say it again."
kaeya takes a moment, his shaking hands dropping his faithful sword as he presses them over diluc's. he no longer feels the warmth emitting from his brother's pyro vision, his eyes stinging painfully - he blames the rain, of course, it's getting in his eyes.
"brother," it falls from his mouth hurriedly, followed by a quiet curse under his breath, "now isn't the time for this! w-we'll get you to adelinde..."
for the first time in years, a glimpse of a grin crosses the redhead's stoic face. in between shallow breaths and blurry sight, he gazes over the familiarity of his brother's face; blood or not. a final breath escapes his chapped lips in the cold of the night, his last thought going over how he wishes he had fixed things with kaeya sooner.
the cryo vision yells out into the night, quick to pull diluc against his chest as the rain continues to ruthlessly batter down on them. it happened again, he curses, squeezing his eyes shut as the tears blend with the raindrops on his cheeks. it won't happen again.
✉️ mail received! sender: aether & lumine
bound by blood, they have always been as thick as thieves together. no ends of time could stop them, no ends of trials and challenges that cross their paths on the journey to find each other. their determination is honourable across teyvat, seeking each other out as if there is no other person in the universe.
without each other they do not know what to do. after all, what do you do when the person you've travelled long and far with disappears without a trace and you're left with nothing but your wit to find them again?
one attachment added!
"brother!" her voice calls out, excitement coursing through her veins as she hurriedly drops the dull blade she'd sported her whole journey these past few years, traversing nations and fighting gods and others alike in search for her brother. aether does not budge, slumped against a rock overlooking the devastation left of khaerni'ah.
lumine's eyes trail to it, the smoke that rises in shades of grey and black, revealing that the flames still burnt at buildings and civilisation. the ashes still smoulder, hot to the touch as the embers glow and flicker through the air. this is not the khaenri'ah she remembers nor is it most likely the khaenri'ah that dainsleif remembers too - dainsleif.. where is he?
the blonde whips her head around in confusion at the sudden disappearance of the male who'd assisted her journey against the abyss order, solemnly appearing out of nowhere with new information to support her journey. a frown decorates her face before she turns her attention back to aether, her smile replacing her former expression.
"aether?" lumine calls out when her brother is unresponsive - was he mad at her for taking so long? why wasn't he sharing the same excitement as her? she stumbles over, breaking into a sprint towards the boulder her twin brother sat beside her. finally, after all this time, she could hold her brother again. her arms envelope the shoulders of her brother, breathing in that familiar scent mixed with the cursed remnants of smoke and ash that fill the air.
but aether doesn't respond to the hug nor the death tight grip lumine is succumbing him to in all of her excitement. slowly, she raises her head. aether's golden eyes are glazed over, his pupils gone and replaced with white. lumine's smile begins to fade, pulling away from the hug when she realises her brother's warm skin that she craved to touch is instead cold and pale.
the blood that has trickled from the corner of his mouth and seeps from his neck has darkened as it oxidises, speckled with the black ash from the flames that have torched khaenri'ah. the breath hitches in lumine's throat and it's suddenly harder to breathe than it was a few moments ago.
a wail escapes her, screaming into the eerie silence left in the aftermath of death and destruction. there's no one to comfort her, to answer her cries. was it all for nothing? had she journeyed this whole time, endlessly fulfilling everyone else's requests just for a snippet of information attaining to her brother, just to be too late?
✉️ mail received! sender: albedo & klee
klee is too young to remember where albedo comes from or even possibly his master, at least this is what he tells himself. klee merely does not care for the trivial matters revolving around where people come from or where they go - despite missing her mother alice dearly sometimes. no, instead the small girl cares for every face surrounding her in light of her mother’s absence; this is particularly albedo.
the people of mondstadt recognise that potentially the small girl is attached to him, referring to him as her big brother as if rhinedottir had made him specifically for her. and on cold nights atop dragonspine’s summit, dressed from head to toe for warmth, the chalk prince considers it.
with a bubbly personality and bright smile that sends everyone into gasps of awe, klee tends to get what she wants and albedo, as her designated big brother, is also victim to these schemes.
one attachment added!
“klee, don’t stray too far,” albedo chimes, concerned for her safety when sky blue eyes follow the brightly coloured girl’s attire through the bleak backdrop of snow, “it’s not safe.”
stars twinkle endlessly above the pair, shining like gold now that the snowstorm had cleared up and dark grey clouds had rolled away to reveal the night sky. klee stares in awe, the stars seem much clearer out here.
“big brother! look at that star!” klee points a gloved finger up at a particular star and whilst albedo gazes upon it, he’s reminded of the very diamond engraved to his throat. his breath hitches and he pulls his gaze away from the stars, approaching the small girl as to stop her leaving his side for too long.
he’d fell so hopelessly for that innocent grin and sparkling eyes when she begged him to let her stay the night with him on dragonspine - he knows he shouldn’t fear for her life entirely, there was a reason acting grand master jean kept klee tucked away in solitary confinement so much but he still couldn’t help the tense of his muscles when he watches her tread through thick layers of snow.
the silence on dragonspine after snowfall was usually albedo’s favourite thing about being stationed up here alone with his experiments but he found himself holding his breath, gloved hands ready to reach for the small girl every time she steps an inch too far. something seemed off but he denoted it down to him being anxious about klee’s presence on dragonspine.
amidst silence there’s a whistle, almost resembling that of an arrow soaring through air. in confusion, the blond whips his head around - nobody dares to step foot on dragonspine so recklessly, not without confiding in himself and the adventurer’s guild first, so where was that whistling coming from? that’s when klee lets out a piercing squeal into the night.
albedo is quick to turn his head back in klee’s direction, had he been so careless to take his attention from her for mere seconds only for her to end up injured? yet as his lips part to call her name, he catches sight of the young girl pierced in the neck but none other than an arrow.
the chilling air of dragonspine hitches in his throat, burning his lungs when he can’t seem to get oxygen into his body, his eyes burning holes into the sight before him when he falls to his knees beside her. she’s terrified, rasping for breath so heavily that the small clouds of warm breath dispersing at her lips are consistently appearing with sharp intakes.
the usual sparkle of ruby red eyes has been demoted to a glitter of wet liquid spilling from the corners of her eyes, her eyes set on the face of her faithful big brother she adored so heavily. she wants to speak, to call his name despite him being right in front of her but it hurts so much, why isn’t he doing something about it?
albedo only has himself to blame, he thinks when he notices the hillichurls disappearing from the cliffside when they think the threat has dissipated - the exact reason his attire was the colour scheme it was, to blend him in so effortlessly. a scowl crosses his face, tears threatening to spill but he remains strong; he has to for klee’s sake.
“i-i’m sorry,” he croaks out, filled to the brim with a guilt he wishes klee could understand when she lets out a strangled whimper, “i’m so sorry klee.”
he pleads that celestia is kind enough to give him the time to take her to the base of dragonspine, across the river to mondstadt so he can get her help. her blood stains the whites and greys of his clothes, blonde hair spilled over his shoulder as he carries her like she’s shattered porcelain.
by the time he makes it to the adventurer’s guild’s camp, out of the sheer cold that turns his limbs numb in an oddly comforting manner now, klee’s breath has ceased to exist despite all the panicked screams around her lifeless body.
he refuses to leave her body’s side, buried neck deep in a suffocating guilt that none of these people will understand. he blames himself for the death of his own little sister, one of the only people he had after his master left.

"Would you cry if I died?"
Summary: How would they react if you asked them this question? Especially if they already know that you don't have much time left.
Characters: Albedo, Wanderer, Aether, Lyney, Cyno
Warnings: Death, lots of angst
A/N: This is so cringe, omfg- I was also in the mood for angst today I guess.
Tumblr media
Albedo:
Albedo didn't know how to react. He didn't even move from the spot he was currently in. You were laying in bed watching Albedo as he was preparing your medicine since you were ill and needed something to keep you from failing him.
This question, he didn't know how to answer since Albedo technically wasn't human and he wasn't sure if shedding tears was possible for him. You knew that he wasn't human, but you were genuinely curious and wanted to know what he would reply with.
"I....I'm not sure."
You were expecting that answer and wasn't offended by it, so you quickly changed the subject into something more cheerful so Albedo wouldn't think too hard about the question. It worked, but later while he was researching on medicine for illnesses, the question still lingered in his mind. He was curious wondering if he really would cry, he wanted to. Not because of his research, it was because he wanted to show that he really did have feelings for you and that he really cared if you were ever released from the world of Teyvat.
It only took two months for your question to be answered before your health failed you. There you were in a random cave in Dragonspine warmed by a small campfire nearby with Albedo holding you in his arms. He knew that you were going to go soon since he could tell by how weak you were and how you looked. You looked very drained and tired and Albedo couldn't help but feel a painful sting in his chest. Something he has never felt before. He told you many times before that you werent supposed to leave his research area without anyone escorting you, but you wanted to see him as soon as possible because you felt more weaker than usual and you knew that you were going soon. You just wanted to see him one more time.
As he was holding you, you looked up at him and asked the same question again. This time Albedo replied by looking down at you, small tears threatening to fall. His eyes were beautiful, he truly was a beautiful to look at, especially when there were small tears at the corners of his eyes which made them look brighter.
"yes... I would."
You were happy, happy that he would shed tears for you. A small smile appeared on your face as you closed your eyes and prepared yourself to be released from the world of Teyvat.
Wanderer/Scaramouche:
"What......?"
You asked him the question one day out of the blue. He didn't know what to do, nor did he know what to say. He didn't even know the answer to that question. He was a puppet, a merely puppet that he told himself couldn't feel emotions.
You repeated the question trying to listen for an answer, but all Scara could think about was would he really cry? He thought human emotions were pitiful, especially the feeling of sorrow, but he was thinking long and hard to find the answer to this question.
You tried to change the subject because you could tell that he was thinking too hard about it, you were just curious. You wanted to know what he would say, but it looked like he wasn't going to reply any time soon.
When night came, Scaramouche was still thinking about the question you had just asked him a few hours ago. Would he cry for you if you died? He didn't want to say yes because he knew he was a puppet and that puppets shouldn't feel emotions, but he knew deep down that he would break down if you ever did die.
So that brings us here right now. Scaramouche holding you trying to shield you from the rain as you're suffering from a large injury on your abdomen. He was careless, he should have been payin more attention when he was fighting those enemies. Instead of him getting hit, you took the blow.
You clearly weren't going to live, you were losing blood fast and town was many miles away, so all Scaramouche could do was sit and hold you in his arms as he desperately tries to shield you from the rain while also trying to stop the blood.
When he realized that you're time was running out, he seemed... helpless. For the first time in a long time he felt that emotion that he never wanted to feel again. He couldn't save you and he knew it, but he didn't want to accept it. He was stubborn.
During your final moments, you smiled at him and said your final words. Then, you were gone, gone from Teyvat. All that was left was your lifeless body in his arms and a bunch of blood. When he realized this, one tear came down followed by another, and another. That's when Scara started crying for the first time in a while. He was hurt and felt betrayed that you had left him all alone. He was upset that he didn't pay attention during that battle.
He was upset that he couldn't save you.
Aether:
Aether was upset that you had asked him this question. It really made him feel a bit useless since he was doing everything he can to find a good healer for your illness. It felt like you were doubting him while in reality, you were just curious.
Aether didn't even reply to your question, he just walked out before you could even say anything. You understood that there was most likely a lot of thoughts circling his head at the moment so you let him go and continued talking with Paimon as if nothing had happened.
While you were with Paimon, Aether was on the balcony of your shared hotel room looking up at the fake stars trying to get his thoughts in order. Why would you ask him that question? Do you even think he has a chance of healing you? All these questions, yet they were left unanswered. He couldn't ask you either since he was afraid for what your answer would be.
He didn't want to think about it, he really didn't. But, against his own will he started having thoughts about if you really did die during his journey. Would he cry? Yes, without a doubt. Thinking about it is not the same as reality though. Reality hurts way more than the fake world that we call 'imagination.' So, if reality hurts way more than imagination, why was he currently crying? You weren't dead, you were currently in the next room talking with Paimon.
He couldn't even imagine how much he would cry if you really did die.
Lyney:
No.. Lyney didn't want to accept it. He didn't want to accept that you were going to leave him soon. Not the one he loved, the one he cherished, the one he would do anything for.
He didn't want to accept that you were going to die soon and he didn't want you to break the promise you made with him. Why did you even make that stupid promise in the first place when you were currently asking that horrible question??
He didn't know what to say. Of course he would cry, but why would you ask that? He completely convinced himself that you'll be fine and you just caught the flu or something. He didn't want to face reality or face the consequences so he just pretended that everything was fine. But you both knew that you did not have a lot of time left, so you asked him this question wondering what he'll say.
"My dear Y/n, what makes you say something like that?"
You hated this. You hated how he didn't want to be honest with himself. You didn't want to leave him in this state so you just said the truth right then and there to end this madness. You didn't want to be responsible for his sanity.
"Lyney, you and I both know I'm going to die soon. Just accept reality already!"
No.. He didn't want to accept it. He was angry, angry that you would talk like that, like you didn't believe he could save you. He was looking for a cure and he was going to find one whether you liked it or not. He promised himself that he would save you, so without a word he came up to you, kissed you on the cheek, and left. He needed some time to think, some time to come up with a solution.
Little did he know that, that would be his last conversation with you.
Cyno
"Where did that question come from?" Cyno was taken aback by your question, but was also really upset that you would ask him something like that. He didn't want to think about you dying all of a sudden, especially when the mood was bright just a few minutes ago.
Sighing, you just brushed off the question and tried to push past it. You were curious since your time on Teyvat was running out and you knew it. You just wanted to know if someone would actually miss you if you were gone. It seems that you won't be getting the answer to that question anytime soon.
Cyno noticed how awkward the atmosphere was, so trying to get rid of it he started telling some of his bad jokes hoping to light up the mood a bit.
"What does a baby computer call it's father?"
"Uh, I'm not sure."
"Data. You get it?"
"Cyno, please-"
To be honest, it did light up the mood quite a lot since you forgot what you even asked a few minutes ago, but Cyno didn't forget. He still thought about the question every now and then. He was afraid, afraid for when your time finally came. He promised himself that he would protect you no matter what, but could he really keep that promise...?

"You'll be the saddest part of me A part of me that will never be mine It's obvious Tonight is gonna be the loneliest You're still the oxygen I breathe I see your face when I close my eyes It's torturous Tonight is gonna be the loneliest..."
Dark clouds hung over Liyue’s skies, the air heavy and oppressive. No wind swayed the trees and the afternoon was void of the sounds of chirping birds, no doubt seeking refuge from the desolation clinging to the landscape like wet clothes to skin.
Right under the towering Wangshu Inn, a group of black-clad individuals trekked through muddy grass, hardly standing out against the gloom. It was difficult to tell day from night with the sun completely blocked from view, not a single ray of light illuminating what would usually be the beauty of the Guili Planes.
Indeed, their vastness was a beauty to behold, brimming with life and chattering travellers while the delicious smell floating from Wangshu Inn’s kitchen watered the mouths of returning adventurers. Yes, it had been a long time since anything filled Xiao with so much serenity and peace as watching the sun melt into the mountain tops while you sat with him until the stars shone their light onto the two of you. Finally, after countless millennia of wandering in the dark, he had found something akin to a home.
You had picked a magnificent site as your final resting place.
When your testament had been read, your wish to be laid down in this unconventional location had shocked your friends and family. The journey all the way from Liyue Harbour to Wangshu Inn could be a treacherous and arduous one if you weren’t prepared, so concerns about visiting and maintaining your grave grew loud. Yet, with the help of the innkeeper Verr Goldet, who was well aware of how much you had treasured your time here, assuring everyone you would be well taken care of even on your next journey, your family honoured your wish.
Piercing amber eyes watched as more mortals dressed in all-black gathered for the human rite of passing near the inn. A funeral, that was what you had called it. The purpose was the same though; a life had ended and now those who mourned offered their last respects. Separating from the crowd was the figure of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor Director and although Xiao couldn’t hear what she was saying where he sat, he guessed she was commencing the ceremony. One after the other, members of your family took turns giving speeches and while he didn’t dare go within ear shot, he didn’t need to; the way people’s shoulders shook and how others went to embrace them and dabbed at their tears told him enough.
After a while, even the last of the mourners had left the funeral site and only then did featherlight feet graze the branches of the nearby tree in fleeting touches before the yaksha dropped to the ground several metres away from your grave. A shielded candle on your tomb was all that illuminated his surroundings. The sight of the tombstone rooted him in place, not sure if he should really approach you one more time.
After all, this was his fault.
As if the world agreed with him, the second Xiao set foot onto the path towards your eternal resting place, cold drops battered against his skin and, like black ink bleeding onto a page, they stained heaven and earth. Normally, the adeptus welcomed the cleansing feeling of the rain but on this day it did nothing to wash away the grief hanging heavy between tree trunks and rocks. Instead, it seemed to pull him under as it weighed down his feet and pressed down on his lungs. Still, he continued forward, driven by the need to talk to you again, even if it was only once more.
Even in this weather he could see how polished the headstone was, not at all withered by harsh conditions like the ones he’d come across before. There was no need for him to study the carved letters of your name or the lifespan that was hardly more than the blink of an eye to him, they might as well have been ingrained in his heart rather than this stone. Yet he flinched back when his fingers brushed the intricately written quote underneath.
“The connection between us is too strong to sever. So let us continue this eternal dance together.”
It was a conversation between the two of you he remembered vividly, both voices ringing clear in his ear. Back then, he had been scared by the consequences being together would have, especially for you who wasn’t meant to be exposed to karmic debt. But you had taken his hand and gently intertwined them; face-to-face with your warm smile, he didn’t find the power to pull away. So, instead, he foolishly brought you closer.
And at first, your time together was truly and genuinely perfect. Not only did you both learn a lot about the other’s way of life, you also showed him a love he never experienced before. Sure, his fellow yaksha had cared for him like a family but you held him so carefully as if he were something delicate, not a weapon but someone to be held dear. In the beginning, he was offended. Did you really think he was that fragile? When you, however, reassured him that even the strongest and bravest fighters need to be cared for, he silently melted into your embrace and soon he’d come to miss the feeling if you weren’t there to greet him.
It was only when simple colds turned into you coughing uncontrollably that his worries slapped him awake again. Despite your protests that you were fine, Xiao ushered you to see a doctor in the city. His anxieties were proven right when you came back with a crestfallen expression, barely able to utter the devastating words ‘chronic illness’.
Over weeks and months, you worked hard on all the therapies and rehabilitation methods you were given, yet despite your best effort it wasn’t enough. Your body could not fight back against what was happening to you and you grew weaker still. Another doctor’s appointment later, the word ‘fatal’ hung over your head like a sword threatening to fall any second.
Yet, in the face of your own death sentence, you remained strong. Far stronger than he ever could be. You spent more time with him, travelled more, tried things you never had the chance to before. To everyone else you portrayed a picture of dignified acceptance, still it wasn’t quite enough to hide your feelings from him. Not when he could hear your sniffles and suppressed sobs coming from the opened balcony door on yet another sleepless night. When he reached out to hold you, you hastily wiped your tears and showed him a wobbly smile, playfully chastising yourself for staying up too late.
The following day, you still woke up with him, made breakfast as he got ready to leave and pressed such a painfully loving kiss to his lips before he leapt off the balcony. Although it was something you did every day, there was still something off about it, something that gnawed at him all day. As he drove his spear through demon after demon, he couldn’t help but replay the scene over and over again, his mind jumping from bad to worse.
It didn’t prepare him for finding your unconscious body on the wooden floorboards of your shared home. Spear clattering to the floor, Xiao rushed over to cradle you against his chest but no matter how often he spoke your name, you wouldn’t come back to him. Alerted by the commotion, the innkeeper called for a doctor immediately but even then, they couldn’t do anything but confirm what everyone had dreaded.
The letter on the table didn’t catch his eye until much later. Next to it lay a woven charm made from an adepti technique he’d shown you and preserved qingxin flowers you had picked together. It was clumsy handiwork but to him it was more perfect than anything else. He was careful as he broke the letter’s seal and held the decorated paper between his gloved fingers. As he soaked up your words, Xiao felt his knees weaken and he had to take a seat before continuing to read. You thanked him for your time together, apologised for leaving early, expressed your hope to see him again one fateful day.
Even recalling it now as he stood in the chill of the rain made his head hurt, his soul feeling like it was being torn into a million directions. How could you be grateful, how could you be sorry, how could you miss the reason pain had befallen you? You should have been angry and should’ve yelled at him, hit him, hurt him, not comfort him. Not smiled at him or held him. He didn’t deserve your kindness and your warmth and your love.
Seeing your name carved in stone like this was much worse than Xiao could have imagined. It radiated a finality, an unyielding reality there was no waking up from. The sudden rush of his suppressed guilt flooded his mind and had the adeptus keeling over onto the muddy grass. There was a pounding in his head and he tugged harshly at his roots to make it stop. Despite having no need for food, he felt nauseous as he clutched his stomach with one hand while the other dug into the soil in front of your grave.
He should have known the black bonds would ensnare you too, the clutches of his karmic debt too powerful to escape. Despite knowing better, he still selfishly took your hand all that time ago. When he reached for you like a man drowning, he thought at first you were his salvation. Too late did he realise he was dragging you down into the pitch black depths with him.
In his foolishness, he had doomed you and now you had to pay the price.
The thought tore a pained sound from him, more akin to a wounded animal than anything human. By now it was hard for him to differentiate between physical and mental sensations, he couldn’t be sure whether the pain he felt was real or just his imagination. Just when it became too much to bear and black spots danced across his vision, a faint call of his name caught his attention.
“Xiao, breathe,” a comfortingly familiar voice reached through the fog of his mind and pulled him back to the surface of reality where he sharply inhaled some much needed air. “It’s okay.”
Looking around frantically, he searched for the origin of your voice just to succumb to the realisation that there was nobody there. Only the dancing flame of the candle in front of him moved during the descent of night. Unlike the damp tear tracks streaking his face, you were but a figment of his imagination.
Swallowing the lump in his throat, Xiao wiped over his cheeks and rose to his feet. With uncharacteristically clumsy fingers he placed a small incense burner and a jade talisman next to the silk flowers and glaze lilies left by the funeral attendees before making a fleet-footed retreat to the top of the inn.
Once again, you’d dispelled the karma threatening to overtake him when it became too overwhelming to bear. He wasn’t sure if he deserved it but he would see you again. Until then, he’d carry on with his duty and uphold his contract without falling prey to the madness within. All to be reunited with you when the time came.
When your family came to visit your grave some time later, they were positively perplexed at the pristine condition it was in. No moss covered the stone, the flowers had been replaced with vivid ones growing around your resting place and the candle had been changed out for a new one. When they asked Verr Goldet about it, the innkeeper merely smiled knowingly, reiterating that there was someone here who cared deeply for you.

"...There's a few lines that I have wrote In case of death, that's what I want, that's what I want So don't be sad when I'll be gone There's just one thing I hope you know, I loved you so..."
The scratching of a pen filled the wooden cabin of the Alcor, the yet-to-dry ink reflecting the last golden rays of the sun. From right outside the circular window, the cries of seagulls could be heard as a flock of them returned to their nest for the night. Waves gently swayed the flagship of the Crux, the resulting sea spray carrying more salty air into the room.
Kazuha paused his writing, pen lifted over the first line of the letter as maple eyes reflected the shift of the sun from amber to a molten crimson. When it started sinking beneath the line of the horizon, he picked up a box of matches to light a candle. For a few seconds, the burnt scent of wood tickled his nose before it evaporated. Such was the nature of the world, everything must come to an end, not even eternity would change that fate; whether it was the sinking sun, the spark of a flame or the life of a treasured person.
He dipped his pen in ink once more before lifting the end to his chin in contemplation, deciding on what to fill the page with this evening. Kazuha’s eyes traced the words of the first line which were at this point engraved into his heart, then set pen to paper in practised motions.
My love,
I hope this letter finds you well.
Worry not, I’m enjoying good health myself and life on the Alcor is treating me well. Unless the crew starts drunkenly singing again; I normally do not suffer from sea sickness, however, … I leave the rest to your imagination.
Otherwise, my days have been rather quiet. Although, whenever we anchor somewhere, I’ve been granted the most beautiful of views. All the places we hoped to visit together one day, they’re as magnificent as we imagined. I wish I could show you the sceneries of Teyvat’s nations; the sunsets and sunrises, the lush forests and gurgling rivers springing from majestic waterfalls. I’m certain you’d enjoy them quite a lot.
Still, despite having seen a lot of what this world has to offer, I can confidently say, nothing compares to your beauty. Even though it has been a while since I’ve been graced by your radiance, I have no trouble recalling it before my mind’s eye. In fact, it is harder not to think of you within every waking moment and my most cherished dreams are those of you.
I see the curves of your lips in the petals of silk flowers, the brightest stars do not compare to the sparkle of your eyes and no amount of lamp grass can illuminate my nights like your smile can. When the afternoon breeze brushes my cheek I am reminded of your gentle touch, the waves whisper stories like you do while curled up by my side, the dancing glow of crystal flies is not nearly as captivating as you coming to see me.
As you can tell, you have positively enchanted me, my dear, and I find it hard to steer my thoughts in a direction which does not lead me back to you; I wouldn’t have it any other way. So, it comes as no surprise that I long for the day I will enjoy your precious company again. Oh, what I wouldn’t do to hold you in my arms again, now and forever. If I could only be granted this one wish, I truly would not yearn for anything else ever again because every moment with you feels like the calming essence my dreams are made of.
The next time we reunite, I’d be honoured to share my most recent works with you; there are quite a number of haikus, sonnets and odes you have inspired. Until then, I’d be pleased to hear from you, wherever you may currently be.
My heart belongs to you always and forever,
Kazuha
With a fond smile, the crimson-eyed samurai waited for the ink to dry before folding the letter carefully and tucking it safely away in an envelope. Reaching for the maple-leaf carved wax seal Beidou had generously gotten for him, Kazuha pressed the stamp down with measured strength. Once it had cooled sufficiently, he adoringly brushed his bandaged thumb over the seal, then turned the letter over and gracefully looped the curves of your name onto the front.
Opening the top drawer of his desk, he placed the envelope on top of the neatly stacked letters already occupying the space. Soon, he’d need to find a different place to store them, lest they quilled over. After all, there was no address they could be delivered to anymore, nobody to receive the feelings he spilled onto the page. Or maybe there was, just not on a plane of existence he could perceive.
Exhaling a tired sigh, Kazuha lifted his gaze outside his window again. There, the moon was glowing a bright white while surrounded by stars, evoking distant memories of a fluffy kitten playing amongst the flowers of an Inazuman meadow.
At the sight, he couldn’t help but wonder, were the two of you at peace? Did you meet somewhere he had yet to explore? Did you get along well? Were Tomo and you watching over him from high above, smiling to yourselves about the person he had become, the choices he made and would make? The thought filled him with peace and joy, yet also, excitement, despite the circumstances.
After all, it would mean Kazuha, too, had the possibility of joining you once his time came and that hope helped calm his heart, no matter what storm he had to face.

"...'Cause I don't even care about the time I've got left here The only thing I know now is that I wanna spend it With you, with you nobody else here Tonight is gonna be the loneliest..."
A crimson moon had risen over Khaenri’ah that night, the very foundation of the land shaking under the attacks the nation suffered. People were running for their lives on unstable footing, trying to escape the scorn of the gods, despite not knowing where -or if- they would be safe. The noise in the city was loud enough to drown out your own thoughts, cries of humans and monsters alike echoing through the smoke-filled sky.
Holding onto your hand tightly, Aether dodged several panicked people, trying not to get you caught in the chaotic mass of moving bodies as fear spread among the civilians like a plague. Both of you staggered slightly as you reached the edge of the central square when another quake of the ground sent more buildings crumbling to the ground.
After running for several more minutes and creating distance to most of the people, you stopped to catch your breath as you surveyed the destruction below. The city you had moved to was hardly recognisable, dyed in the scarlet of flames and the charcoal of smoke. In the distance, you could spot hordes of rifthounds crossing the border to Teyvat’s other nations, only further aggravating the forces of ‘divine punishment’.
Aether wrapped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you close, guiding your head to rest on his shoulder. Even as he shut his eyes, he couldn’t keep out the flashes of light wreaking devastation on the nation. Focusing on the warmth radiating from your body, the blond let his hand wander over your arm as if to confirm you were still with him. You stood like this for a while until the loudest of the noise died out and the worst of it seemed to be over.
Or that was what he thought. Because soon thereafter, shrill shrieks coming from the city pierced his ears, pitched in an agony he had never witnessed before. Not on any world he had visited in the past had a sound chilled his blood and made his skin crawl from the sheer terror it conveyed. It was a chorus of voices drifting up from below, contorted in both confusion and pain.
Frozen in shock, Aether barely felt you twitching in his arm until it turned to full-body spasms and you wrangled free from his embrace. Stumbling backwards, you clutched your head and doubled over, barely able to stand on your own feet as groans of discomfort started straining into screams as well. If he thought it was nightmarish before, seeing the person he loved scratch down their own face in torment while their voice grew hoarse from screeching in pure misery was indescribably cruel.
Reaching out to do something, anything, to help, he heard the first sickening crack of what could only be bones and his stomach dropped a little lower every time the sound echoed through the dreadful night. By the time it stopped, Aether suppressed the urge to throw up the acid in his stomach to relieve the nausea which had overcome him.
But still, that sensation was nothing compared to the ice cold dread washing over him when instead of you, a small haggard creature with a large mask covering its entire face stood in your place. It was dizzy and disoriented, yet, as soon as Aether made a move towards, it clumsily scurried away from him.
Looking down into the centre of the city, he saw a large number of strange creatures of all sizes swarm the place as the people around them dove out of their way. Overall though, the number of entities didn’t seem to have changed and there was simply no way these strange beings could have switched places with the civilians this quickly. Surely, it couldn’t be…
In a small voice, he called your name and watched as the masked creature cautiously studied him before taking a single step in his direction. A falling piece of debris hit the ground near the two of you and, quick as lightning, the thing flinched back and ran to the square where most of them had gathered, ignoring his calls to wait.
The events of that night still replayed in his mind and haunted him when he closed his eyes. Oftentimes, he’d wake with a start, drenched in cold sweat and gasping for air, startling his then travelling companion Dainsleif on more than one occasion. How could he ever forget the strangled cries ripped from your throat as you were transformed into what was now known as a hilichurl for no fault of your own.
After the catastrophe, it soon became clear that both the transformation and the immortality placed upon the people of Khaenri’ah were a curse by the gods, led by the Heavenly Principles, as retribution for the nation’s sins. But you had done nothing wrong; neither had most of the people affected. You merely moved to a place not ruled over by the gods. You were not deserving of any punishment; it was the epitome of injustice.
Over time, and despite Dainsleif’s strongly principled company, Aether’s grief slowly withered away and gave birth to frustration, anger and a certain yearning for revenge. That corrupted seed was nourished by every bloody hilichurl mask he came across on their travels, not wanting to think about what that could imply. The rest of Teyvat wasn’t even aware of the fate their beloved gods had doomed Khaenri’ahns to; to them, his fellow people were merely monsters to be slain.
First the Heavenly Principles separated him from his sister and then they took away the one person he found comfort in, who gave him stability and hope for the future. In a sickened way the thought drove him forward. Whether it was to move against the Heavenly Principles or find a way to break the curse, he needed to do something. Even if breaking the curse would reveal what he feared every time he saw a rotted out hilichurl camp to be true, he’d endure it better than the uncertainty gnawing at his stomach.
So, to his own shock, he wasn’t surprised by how quickly he warmed up to Clothar Alberich’s proposal of establishing a new organisation of Khaenri’ahns, who were able to retain their self-awareness, and aiming to topple the divine thrones. To enact his own justice upon the world, which cruelly brought its own down on him, Aether would do anything.
He’d even become the Prince of the Abyss.

"...And I just keep on thinking how you made me feel better And all the crazy little things that we did together In the end, in the end, it doesn't matter If tonight is gonna be the loneliest..."
The stench of blood hung in the air, the taste of iron filled the Harbinger’s mouth every time he breathed in. His left eye was only partially opened as the skin around a nasty cut on his temple swole up. It would certainly bruise, perhaps even leave a scar if it went uncared for, yet he hardly spared it a second thought.
As he moved to take out the last of his enemies still standing, the edges of his torn clothes dragged through the underlying wounds and ripped open those the fabric had clung to as they started building crusts. Childe’s breathing was ragged from both physical strain and a severe blow to his rib cage, one of them probably broken by the impact. Well, this wasn’t supposed to be a one person job after all.
But all his work had been so incredibly dull recently, so he purposely sent his subordinates to the wrong location and moved in alone, just to feel the thrill of battle. Normally, a battle in which the opponent was strong enough to wound him to this degree would shoot adrenaline straight through his veins, yet, it felt like nothing but a chore to him. No pride, no joy followed him as he dragged his damp shoes through the scarlet puddles on the cave floor, not even flinching at the cracking sound as he stepped on what he presumed to be someone’s hand. He didn’t care enough to look down.
The way back to Liyue Harbour was uneventful. Those who showed their faces learned pretty quickly that Childe wasn’t to be trifled with if they valued their lives and it wasn’t long before he dropped from the roof of Northland Bank, startling the Fatui Soldiers currently switching shifts.
“M-My Lord,” one of them stammered as her eyes snapped from the tattered scarf to the droplets staining his hair a darker shade of red to the various gashes littering his body. “Your subordinates have been search–”
The Harbinger dismissed her with a mere wave of his hand and motioned for them to open the door. The two quickly scrambled to oblige, their frightened eyes still clinging to his back as he strode through the pristine halls of Northland bank, bloody footprints leaving a trail to his office. Other staff members on duty practically jumped out of his way with a simple glance at his usually bright face, fearing they’d end up as another stain on his sullied uniform.
Dropping into the chair behind the heavy oak desk while heaving a deep sigh, Childe discarded the scuffed red mask before sliding his gloved hand down his face, wincing as he put pressure on his fresh cut. Eventually he tipped his head back with a low groan.
The stale silence of paperwork and files was oppressive, adding to the pressure pounding through his skull. A tiny, rational voice in his head scolded him that this kind of reckless behaviour needed to end, that he was destroying himself. But the crazed part of his brain pushed back hard against the painful familiarity and steered his mind far away from every possible memory associated with it.
Casting his eyes down on the tabletop, he felt his mood sour even more at the fresh stack of letters waiting to be opened. Among the countless Fatui sigils, one particular envelope caught his eyes though; one with the address scribbled in childish handwriting.
Discarding his crimson-dyed gloves and picking his siblings’ letter from the pile with slow fingers, Childe opened it with careful motions. Instantly, a light flutter stirred in his chest at their antics, the stories they told from home and the instances where Teucer definitely pestered Tonia into including a certain detail.
The curve of his smile dropped when his eyes landed on the last part of the letter. Under his tightening grip, the letter he cherished so much before started to crumble and crease as his expression hardened again.
“Ajax, when are you bringing your partner again? You mentioned that they liked the dish mom made last time they visited, so I practised really hard to make it for them the next time. We’re really looking forward to seeing them again! Also mom asks when you’re getting married but I told her to be patient.”
As he stared down the words like they had personally wrong him, he didn’t notice the blood droplet running down the tip of his hair before it fell onto the letter. Childe watched as the red mixed with black, wetting the ink until the curves of your name had disappeared into nothingness, much like you had. One moment there, the next… gone.
In a moment of clarity, which came far too late, the ginger wiped frantically at the letter, trying to retrieve you but it was no use. By the time he stopped, the entire paragraph was smudged in a greyish smear of red and black.
Dropping the scarlet letter, Childe supported his lead-heavy head on his hands as he dropped forward, hunching over his desk in defeat. This time it wasn’t blood which wetted his palms but salty tears, the first ones he’d shed since your passing.
It felt as if someone had dropped a ton of bricks onto his shoulders as the glass he kept his feelings in broke and they flooded his consciousness like waves crashing onto a small fisher boat.
Almost, Childe could feel the grip of your hand in his as you were running across Liyue’s Planes, away from the chaos by his own design, your excited laughter mingling with his own until you fell into the soft grass next to each other. Or how you'd huddled together for warmth under the starry skies of his home, steaming mugs clutched in your hands. He could vividly remember how you brushed away his bangs to press a searing kiss to his temple, eyes so full of love as you looked into his.
But what did it matter now? Why look back when you weren’t next to him anymore? When he couldn’t hold you anymore or bring you back home to meet his family? The family you would have become a part of?
All at once, his wounds started to burn and ache, every breath felt like he was dying as his broken ribs expanded and sunk around his lungs. His mouth tasted bitter with blood and he fought to keep his lunch down. He cringed at the sticky feeling of exudate running down his temple and trickling into the corners of his eyes, glueing his lashes together as he blinked. Even now, you were still right. He was destroying himself. But this time, you weren’t there to stop him.

The day comes when you find one of Aether's more hidden scars, his bare and muscled back shown to you in all of its glory. Your eyes travel across the different wounds on his back and find a particularly nasty mark. It's healed over well, but it's raised and pink unlike all his other ones. You point it out to him and he freezes up. Do you think he's ugly now? Scars weren't pretty, no no, they were quite the opposite weren't they? Were you going to detest this part of him when you promised to love him whole?
(He wouldn't blame you. He wouldn't love him either.)
Instead, you gently trace the scar and place soft kiss on top of it, like an angels touch, just grazing his skin. He barely even felt it but he knew it was wreak, oh god he knew. Your every touch lingered, The bump of your shoulders or a teasing finger around his waist. everything you did to him made his skin light on fire, electrocuted his heart and brought him to death and back. He discovers the words in his throat with a wobble to his voice, thick and whispery, embarrassment dripping off of the tight seams of his lips. "What are you– why are you doing that?"
You do nothing but hum. A beat passes, two kisses go by, then; "Nobody's ever kissed your scars better, have they?" Aether doesn't reply. He doesn't need to. "That's what I'm doing right now."
Aether spends the rest of his night silent, listening to your addictive voice spill praises of him that he doesn't think are quite true, but that's alright. Even if they're lies, everything sounds nicer when you say it.
Aether spends the rest of his night choking on air, with his eyes glossed with tears. He shouldn't be crying. Teyvat's hero does not cry. It's not like him to cry. But he feels so at home with you, You remind him of a family he's never had.
Aether spends the rest of his night in your arms. He breathes your skin and exhales his doubts. He still feels your lips on his back. He never wants to forget the feeling.
Aether spends the night squeezing your waist for he doesn't know if a tomorrow with you will come. And truth be told, for the world's strongest hero, he is scared. Not of the harbingers, not of the regions he's been, but of you. He's scared of having his last kiss.
Aether spends the night thinking about you. He looks up at your sleeping figure and hums before placing a featherlight kiss on the corner of your mouth.
Aether spends the night knowing your name will forever be the name on his lips.

you died before their eyes many years ago barely lived your life, you still had many years before you, this time you come back to them, living and breathing again. Was this a sick joke played by Celestia on them? But no matter, they wish for more as you are back, after all they will love you a thousand more times no matter how you come back to them, they will always be able to tell it's you.

A man, a bard, a god, an archon, immortality was granted to him when he be came the Anemo archon, whether it be a curse or a gift, he didn’t know anymore. But he knew it was a curse bared by him the moment he found his beloved laying in a field full of bloodied flowers.
If only he had been quicker, or if he never let them go alone by themselves to do their commissions, then maybe, they wouldn’t be six feet under.
Every day he would visit their grave in the late hours of the night, sit and talk with a bottle of dandelion wine, as if they were there with him. He knew no matter how much he spoke, his words will never make it to their ears.
One day he awoke by their grave, he drunk himself drunk and decided to just spend the night with them. But there was someone else by him when he awoke, they had messy h/c, and he couldn’t see anything else.
“Who... Who are you?” He asked as he sat up, and the stranger turned to him, and he felt his heart leap to his throat, his chest hammering, and his eyes widened in astonishment. “Good morning, sir, it seems like you had a fun night,” they smiled at him as he sighed nodding with his own smile upon his face.
“That I did,” he knew that they wouldn’t remember anything, but to have them here now, he was happy and content. He took up one of the unfinished bottles as they sat in the grass beside him, and they spoke for hours beside the grave.

Zhongli
He lived for eons; lovers, friends, people he thought of as family, have came and gone. He should’ve been used to it by now, but no matter what he could never handle it each time he seen it.
He is immortal, he is cursed with seeing mortals he grows close to die in front of his eyes no matter what, that is just the way of life. No matter how many times he sees it, he will never grow used to it.
Rain poured from the night skies heavily one night, it was difficult to see, and he knew as he waited for his love, they might perish in the storm. The next morning, he was right, someone awoke and seen their body on the side of the road, cold, and frail.
He blamed himself no matter how much someone else told him otherwise, when the 76th director of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor died and his young grandchild had taken over, he went to work of her, Hu Tao was her name.
Visiting the grave of his beloved was painful, but every year on their birthday, on their anniversary, or even on their death anniversary, Zhongli would get up, ask Hu Tao for the day off, and sit at his beloved grave for the whole day.
Their birthday was coming up, so he decided to ask Hu Tao for the day off, and he was allowed to leave for the whole day. He went to go prepare; flowers, tea, some letters he written to them, and even some of their favorite food.
When he carried all of the things in his arm, he nearly dropped some of the stuff, “Hey, do you need help?” That voice nearly made him freeze, but he turned with a small nod. “That would be very appreciated,” he spoke kindly to them, and when he looked into their eyes, he knew.
He knew they had found him again on their own, and like always, he would stay by their side, until the end of his curse. He would love them no matter the shape or form in their next life, it was still his love.
Tumblr media
Raiden Ei/Shogun
Life and death, such a concept what hard to accept when you lived hundreds of years. No matter how much death you witness, or how much you try to forget it, it will always be there to haunt you until the end of time.
The land of eternity was difficult to live in with all the hostile people, the lightning and all the rain, yet it was such a beautiful place. Beauty would always be found in the storm no matter how you see it, and the electro archon knew that.
The day her darling passed due to some treasure hoarders, he promised herself to rid of all of them on her lands and that she did, well, her puppet did. Still meditating, she waited for until her puppet would come back, and this time she did with someone else in tow.
They seemed familiar, and they looked beaten up, she looked at her puppet who looked elsewhere as she tugged on the rope that was connected to their hands. “Shogun... What is the meaning of this?”
The person looked up at Ei, and she felt her heart drop to her stomach, their eyes formed into a glare as they looked at her, but her heart was beating rapidly against her chest. They were back again, and she was glad to have them back and alive.
“You, what is your name?” When they stated their name, her heart fluttered as she nodded with a soft smile to herself, they are back, they are alive and breathing. They are safe now, she told herself.

Nahida
She was a god of wisdom, of course she knew of reincarnation, she was locked up for nearly five hundred years, she had a bit of freedom, and she made a friend, one of the sages that had her locked up, they were nice. They wanted to go against Azar’s words and let her free, but the other sages knew of their plans, and they were disposed of.
Nahida no matter how much she sees people come and go, she wouldn’t be able to handle it, she may be over five hundred years old, but she still was a child no matter her knowledge. She cried for hours and hours when Azar came with one of Y/n’s belongings, tainted with splotches of blood.
When she was freed from her prison and Azar was delt with, she would stay by the blond traveler’s side at times. When they had decided to take up a rather difficult commission one day, she went with them, but even then, the two were enough, they just needed a bit more power.
A person from out of nowhere jumped in swinging their weapon with their vision, and they turned to the three with a large smile and wiping the sweat from their brow. Paimon asked loudly for their name, and they stated it with a loud voice clearly proud of their self.
Nahida smiled with a nod, the sage from all those years ago was back, and they were a vision wielder now. The traveler introduced them self with a smile and offered dinner as their gratitude. “And this is Nahida,” she held a hand to her chest, her heart fluttering in happiness. “It’s nice to meet you Y/n, I hope we can be friends,” again, she wanted to say but stopped herself.

Wanderer
The betrayals, as he called them, made him into the man he was years ago, The Balladeer, Scaramouche, The Sixth of the Eleventh Harbingers. He was feared by all, but there was only one person who lived in a cottage in the forests of Snezhnaya, he stumbled across them one day during a harsh winter.
His first thought was to rid of them for even seeing him vulnerable, but he bit his tongue and said nothing as they treated his wounds. Every few weeks he would go and visit them, but he would rather die than let them know.
A particular harsh winter had gone over the land of ice and snow, he knew that tiny cottage wouldn’t be able to keep them safe, so when he went to go visit them after the ice storm had passed, he was met with his fellow harbinger dragging their body out of the home.
“Oh, you need not to worry for them, they are my latest experiment Balladeer,” and he bitterly turned on his heel and went back, their smile and kind eyes pushed into the dark backside of his mind.
When he resided in Sumeru and received his Anemo vision, and his pasts memories as The Balladeer, surprisingly their smile was the first thing he had gathered in his mind. The lands of Sumeru were hot on the day he strolled around, going about his day aimlessly.
He bumped into someone, a small scoff leaving his mouth, “I am so sorry! I wasn’t looking where I was going!” They rambled as they picked up their things, and they looked up at him with a small frown. His breath hitched as they smiled at him softly, “I’m sorry again,” and they turned on their heel and walked away from him.
Without knowing his own feet moved on their own, and he followed after them without another words, they turned with a smile and he held his face flush. It wouldn’t be so bad to open up to someone now after all that he has been through.

Xiao
The Yaksha, a protector of Liyue, a conqueror of demons, and an adepti. He wished to only rest one night, but in the dead of night, he heard the faint whisper of his name. With a wisp of black and teal, he was met with the sight of his beloved covered in blood and fatui agents and gunners surrounding their body.
All he saw was red as he felt his mask consume his face, there he slayed the ones who caused his dear harm, and once they were slayed, he dropped to his knees by their side. Tears cascading down his cheeks as he took their dying into his arms, their cold hands raising to gently brush some of his tears away.
They spoke lowly, “I love you,” and with that their body fell limp in his arms, be forced himself to carry their body and bury them, no matter how much it tormented his heart. And he forced himself to promise to never go to another mortal or love ever again.
Lantern Rite, the time to be happy, to let xiao lanterns float up into the sky, and spend time with your loved ones or ever friends. But this was yet only year he no longer had his beloved by his side, but instead the blonde traveler and their floating fairy by their side came up to the balcony of Wangshu Inn.
Following behind them was another person, bright/dark eyes, and a smile on their face as they carried a xiao lantern in their hands. “Xiao, this is Y/n,” and his heart fluttered hearing their name, but he crossed his arms and closed his eyes trying to keep his composure. “It’s nice to finally meet you, conqueror of demons,” they said with a smile making him want to hug them tightly and never let them go, but this wans’t his beloved.
This one was a new Y/n, not the one he used to know, but still, he will try to make some conversation, “Likewise mortal.”
Tumblr media
Aether
A lone traveler from another world, traveling with his sister, but he lost her along the way to this new world. Teyvat... It was strange, but it was a newly welcomed adventure. The person he met was a beautiful/handsome person in his eyes. He thought he shouldn’t get too attached until he found his sister, but that was inevitable.
They easily broke past his flimsy walls he put up; teasing him for hours that they would spend together, but he knew nothing of this world’s horrors. He thought he was safe just carrying around a sword unknowing of visions.
One day he ventured out to find some fruit leaving his beloved alone in their makeshift camp, and hearing a scream from a bit aways, he turned and ran back. If only he didn’t leave, then maybe he wouldn’t be cradling their body in his arms as they smiled up at him, their eyes closed as they held his hand limply.
And then he found himself staring out into space reminiscing about his days before his floating child companion, she was complaining about something, but he couldn’t hear her as he stared at the person before him. They waved their hand in front of his face as he final was snapped out of his daze.
“I’m sorry... What were you saying?” They let out a small chuckle as he felt his cheeks flush, “I was asking what would you like to order?” Oh, that what Paimon was yelling about, food. But he knew not what to say his words seeming to die on his tongue the more he looked at the person before him.
Who knew reincarnation was possible in this world, but then again it was full of surprise that he was willing to discover as long as this Y/n stays by his side safely at all times.

Lumine
An abyss princess, she was forced to see death and destruction. In every world she traveled with her brother, it was always different, but this was the first time she traveled alone without him.
Back in Khaenri’ah, she was alone, but she bet a blond man, and another person, her first love in this world. They were an amazing person; kind, calm, beautiful in her eyes, and she told them after a few years of friendship.
And when she was going to propose to them, the archons of this world has decided, Khaenri’ah should be no more. Blood, fire, death was everywhere as people ran and screamed for their lives, but where was Y/n?
They were no where in sight as Lumine ran around trying to find them, just as she was about to run into a building the roofs began to cave in, and before she could react, she was pushed out the way.
Her honey-colored eyes turned to see a familiar head of hair get crushed by the fallen debris, and she knew, her love sacrificed their self for her. With a heavy heart, and tears in her eyes as she moved to leave, she looked to see the sky painted red, and fire reaching towards the heavens.
Hundreds of years later she looked over a cliff to watch her brother, the blond man, and a floating child. Took caught up in her gaze, she failed to notice a person running to her, swinging a claymore around.
But before she could get hit by their attacks, she raised her own sword and their blades collided as sparks flew from the two metals. Her breath hitched as they jumped back, their weapon coated in elemental energy as they grinned at her widely. “And so the abyss princess knows to fight,” they snarked with their eyebrows furrowed with that grin upon their face.
“You... What is your name?” They slung their weapon over their shoulder with their grin still upon their face as they jabbed their thumb to their self. “Names Y/n, princess.”
Tumblr media
Albedo
Relationship; complicated, complex, and too much effort to maintain, it’s what he always thought. He knew any type of relationship relied on communication, quality time, and even effort.
And somehow, some way, a mortal managed to worm their way into his heart, his darling, his love, his first; Y/n. They were his everything, his friend, his lover, his muse, the reason for him to live. He wanted nothing but to have them in his life for all eternity.
But he was too late, too late to do anything when a sword impaled his darling, all he saw was red as he slayed the beings that harmed them, and when he fell to his knees by their side he was too late to even be there in their last moments.
And after that he never left his lab, be it the one in Dragonspine, or even the one in the one in the Knights of Favonius building. The only time he would turn to see something else other than his research was Sucrose bring more supplies or Klee pestering him.
Out of material for his latest experiment, he heaved a heavy sigh as he looked around his lab; messy, dirty, unorganized, maybe he’ll clean up once he comes back. Leaving his lab, he walks slowly, how long has it been since he left? How long did he stay with his experiment?
His eyes trailed up to the sun; how long has it been since he had been outside? His legs carried him until he collided with another being. “Oh, I’m sorry,” they spoke as Albedo rubbed his head and looked up at them and their outstretched hand.
His heart nearly stopped beating in his chest, “Uhm... Hello?” They questioned a bit awkward from his staring. Shaking his head, he took their hand as they pulled him up, and gave him a smile, “Sorry for bumping into you, I was told by Sucrose to help deliver these to Albedo,” his eyes still couldn’t leave them, but how could he not? His Y/n was back.
He sighed taking in reality, his Y/n was gone... This one was a new one, “That would be me, my apologies, I am a bit out of it,” they smiled at him and waved their hand at him. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to form another companionship.
Tumblr media
Qiqi
When she heard of the passing of the person she loved as her parent when she was just barely a few years old to understand, she cried for hours. When she died, her memories of that person were wiped completely but at time you could hear her mention a person’s name when she rambled under her breath to herself about remembering things.
So Baizhu had gifted her a journal to write anything and everything she possibly wanted to remember. And every day she would write about everything and anything, some days she wouldn’t have anything for her journal.
One day she was writing in her journal, and in strolled in the Traveler and Paimon, and her eyes looked up at them a bit disinterested. “Doctor Baizhu is not here... Qiqi will help you instead,” and a person accidently bumped into the traveler making a Qiqi look at them.
“You are clumsy... Apologize,” she said as they helped up the blond and looked down at the little girl, “Hi Qiqi, Doctor Baizhu sent me to come get these for him,” they handed the little girl a slip of paper giving her a smile.
She took the paper with a little smile at the mention of her caretaker as she looked down at the paper, “Qiqi will get this for you...” She smiled up at them as she turned on her heel and gathered what the paper said, when she returned, they were talking with the traveler.
“Qiqi, has gotten what Y/n needed,” she said not realizing what she said, and the person turned to her with a surprised look, before they shook their head and gave her a pat on her hat. “Thank you Qiqi,” and with that they left, and Qiqi took out her journal and wrote the name.
It was familiar as she flipped through her journal, and saw the name on the very first page, Y/n... They had come back, and the zombie girl didn’t even know it, all she knew was she felt warm all over when she talked to them.
im so srry this took awhile, i haven't had any motivation lately :( but i am trying my best, i have an idea for a kaveh x reader oneshot if anyone would be interested to read that when that comes out <3

-Angst ~ No comfort
Summary: All it took was a single follower to ruin your relationship with him
Gender: Female
Warnings: Murder, violence, attempted murder, replaced, stalking, obsession, yandere-ish reader, attepted suicide, bad writing skills [Thats all i think]
A/n: I hope you enjoy~!
(Feel free to correct my grammar!)
---
You've been with Scara through thick and thin. You were always there for him, comforting him, supporting him, listening to him, helping him, killed innocents for him, anything you could think of, you did it all for him.
.
"Why are you doing this!?"
"Because I love him."
.
After hours of listening to screams and begs, you finally heard silence.
Here you are again tonight, killing another innocent family just because Scara wants you too even if you didn't want to, you did. Because you would do everything and anything for him.
.
.
.
"You're home" you heard someone say. You looked at the couch of your house to see him.
"Did you kill them all?"Scara said looking at you.
"Yes"
"Good"
"Have you eaten yet?"
"Ya"
"Without me again?" You said while sitting down beside him, slightly frowning.
He just looked at you with a blank face and leaned on your shoulder.
"Oh! Scara i havent washed up yet! The blood would stain your clothes" you said, trying to gently push the man off you
.
He then grabbed your hand and said "I dont care, stay here" he glared.
.
.
.
It was nice being with him afterall he was your only someone and you're his only someone. You're not really good at socializing that much and besides you're to busy worshipping Scara to even make friends.
You were kind of glad that Scara...yk only comes to..you? And aslong as he comes home to you, you're happy.
.
.
But one day, all of that suddenly changed, when Scara found out about a little follower of his.
You were sad
You were angry
You were happy...?
..You said to yourself that aslong as his happy, you're happy!.....
'but.. why do I feel this way..? Why do i feel like i lost a part of me..?' You thought to yourself.
You looked at the dinner table and saw the dinner you made him untouched.
Each day, Scara's time at home lessen. He spends less time with you and only comes home once in a while.
And everytime he came home, he always talks about that follower.
.
.
.
You spend the whole night at the bathroom thinking about that follower . Feeling jealous because you spent half of your life with him!? And then when a little follower of his pop up, you were suddenly a nobody! You were suddenly replaced because someone new showed up!
"Why her!?"
You hate it so much you cant even scream, you just cried your heart out until you cant no more.
And everytime he talks about her, he always refers to her as his ' first follower' like bich ass what am i?! A roach!?
You spent half of your life with him just not to deserve to be called his follower!??
You cried, you cursed, you pulled, you scratch, you scream, you did everything to express your anger.
And when you found out that Your beloved Scara watches her sleep!? You freaked out!?!!(not infront of him)
You litterly worshipped him!? Why dosent he watch you sleep!? Like wth
"This is so unfair!" I silently screamed.
You're a bit mad that Scara refers to her as his first because he unsurprisingly gets pleasure from seeing your jealous/mad face.
And after you calmed down a bit you swore you're going to get rid af her.
.
.
.
After days, you finally found out where she lives and where her usual spots are.
When Scara has to go away for some things you took this chance to try and assassinate her.
.
.
.
You were about to slit her throat when a hand suddenly grabbed your wrist to a tight hold.
You looked up and you saw him..the same man you fell inlove with...
"WTF ARE YOU DOING!?"
"I- ..I-"
After all what he did to you, he never failed to still make you shy..
.
.
.
"IM SORRY! PLEASE FORGIVE ME! I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN!" You begged. Bowing so low you touched the ground below.
"Did i tell you to speak?"
You shaked your head, not daring to look at him.
You probably had the worst night after that.
.
.
.
Here you are laying at your bed looking so lifeless.
'What are you gon do now?
Your only purpose in life, left you for another..
'Why her?' You thought, recalling all your memories of him.
You were sad
You were heart broken
"Why am i like this!? Were not even together! We were nothing to begin with!"
'But i cant help it....'
.
.
.
You were walking around the village. Every one giving you wierd looks because you look like a zombie! You litterly tried to starve yourself to death but thought that your life aint dedicated to him so why are you doing this to yourself?
You were walking mindlessly when someone suddenly grabbed your shoulder, you turn around and saw a young man with blonde hair and on his side you saw a ..fairy?
"Hello miss, is everything alright?"
"Ye? Why did you ask ...and base on your clothing it seems like you are not from here.." You looked at him up and down.
.
.
.
After that faithful encounter, you two have gotten close, he visits your home everyday together with the littel fairy called Paimon, and you seem to have gotten better, to the point you start to forget him.
"Hey y/n!" Someone yelled as i turned around to look who it was.
"Oh hey Aether, do you need anything?" I smiled at him.
You admired his face, you grew fond of him and even developed a little crush but got pulled away from your little world when he asked you something.
"I wanted to ask you if you want to join my adventures!" He excitedly asked.
"Of course i would love to!" I chimed in excitement.
.
.
.
Months past..
You confessed to Aether about your feelings and he shyly accepted, it was such a cute sight that you just want to bite him smh.
Paimon annoying you both by teasing.
You were so in love that you completely forgot on who your first love even was.
And you three lived happily ever after~
.
.
.
Speaking of first love, what about him? Did he find his happily ever after or did he became a withered rose..
Scara's pov:
After that night, i slowly started to miss her..
Her sweet smile
Her sweet cuddles
Her sweet voice
Her sweet everything
I missed the time when i come home and shes there waiting for me with that lovesick smile, but now when i come home..its-..its just lifeless like me.(lol get it? Cuz hes a puppet and ye-😂😂.......🙂ye you probably didn't laugh..)
And what happened to my first follower?
Ye she moved on and forgot about me..
Cant believe i just lost another when im at my worst.
I thought about all the times i spent with her as i slowly watched her walk down the aisle to her future husband, whos slowly crying.
I settled on just watching her and protecting her from afar since Y/n seems to be enjoying her life more with another than with me..
It hurts but atleast shes happy
.
.
.
In the end, im just nothing but a lost soul.
.
And he live not so happily ever after~!

♪ XIAO
he feels the familiar ache of a bad dream, like a sickness in the pit of his stomach, as soon as he opens his eyes to a mist-shrouded world smelling of blood and that unmistakable stench of death. he looks around, his muscles tensed, chin tucked into his chest, knowing he's dreadfully unprepared for whatever horrors are conjured for him this time.
a terrifying, sour taste of bile rises in his throat as his gaze lands on a familiar person, lying with eyes open and blankly staring at nothing, and he falls to his knees as though someone has knocked the air out of him, gasping wildly for breath and finding none. that person is you, and all at once the understanding that this isn't real is gone in a flash and he's pulling at your shoulders and crying your name as though it'll magically rouse you from the dead --
his eyes open suddenly to peaceful quiet and your arms wrapped around him, whispering soft reassurances. a leaf drifts in through the window, moonlight highlighting your concerned features as his breathing slows, posture melting into a limp exhaustion, and you pull back, clutching his hands and asking if he's okay.
the sound of soft wind and gently rushing water pours back into his ears. he places a hand on his forehead, pushing back locks of green shaded hair, cast into shadow by the awkward lighting. "just ... a nightmare," he says slowly, the words almost a prayer to reassure himself.
"it wasn't real," you prompt, achingly aware of that constant vision that appears in his mind what seems like every time he falls asleep. "i'm here, right?" he nods, taking a deep breath. you smile anxiously. "see? you don't have to worry. everything's fine."
and it is, truly; he knows this reoccuring nightmare is irrational, but he can't remember to turn away when he's deep in his own mind, seeing the person who he loves most in the world dead on the ground. it's just impossible, for him to ignore this, because even with that nausea that clues him in, he would never be able to forgive himself if it happened in real life and he dismissed it.
his throat is drily hoarse and he breathes slowly and carefully, and your voice is clouded once more with sleep as you lace your fingers between his. "is there anything you need? water, or something to eat, anything i can help with?" he shakes his head. you being there is all he needs, a temporary solution to help convince his mind that everything is fine, and it is, and the relief hits him all at once with a bright clarity that brings a clear easiness to his face, softening the sharp, fearful features.
you smile at him sleepily, closing your eyes. a bird sings a short note outside, and he sinks back into a deep sleep, holding your hand like a lifeline, and when he dreams this time, it's of you and him lying in a field of bright flowers and looking at the sky.
♪ LUMINE
her dream is a kind one at first, a picnic full of sunshine deep in a beautiful forest with you and aether and paimon, and she almost aches with joy at the warm smiles that surround her and the peacefulness that resides softly within her chest.
but then the trees and the picnic crumble away and the scene flashes into midnight, clouds covering the moon, and aether's face falls into an empty, dead-eyed stare wearing a long black robe speckled with tiny stars, abyss mages appearing behind him, and paimon whirls into a monstrous version of the unknown god that stole him away from her, and you melt and reform into a horrible thing with viciously sharp teeth, and elongated limbs that don't suit your body, and she's surrounded on all sides --
you whisper her name into her ear -- "lumine! " -- and she sits up straight, panting with fear. you reach for her, fearful pity on your face, her gaze wildly unfocused as her head snaps around in different directions. she lashes out, slapping your arm away with blind, terrified fury, barely a heartbeat and a provocation away from slashing at you with her sword, momentarily unable to tell reality from that disgustingly real nightmare.
you scramble away, as far as you can get without falling off the bed, and you hold both hands in the air, whispering in a gentle voice, "hey -- hey, lumi. it's just me, okay? it's just me." she inhales, clasping her trembling hands in her lap, and holds it for five seconds, making eye contact with you.
when the breath rushes out of her, the tension leaves her shoulders, and she slumps against the headboard, rigid and motionless with an angry expression on her face. you move closer and place a hand on her arm. "are you okay? you were saying something, in your sleep, so i t-thought -- " you stammer, tripping over your tongue for a moment as she looks at you stiffly, "i thought i should wake you up, should i not have?"
you worry for a moment that the leftover wisps of rage, that overpowering anger that fills her and seems to take up her entire mind so there's no room left to be scared, will be directed at you when her mouth opens, brows furrowing, but it's just a heavy sigh that escapes her lips. "i ... yeah. thanks. i just need a second."
you reach over and flick the light on, throwing the room into sharp relief. you sit in silence as she stares at her hands, words on the tip of her tongue that she's unable to say yet. she knows the irrational anger that bubbles up to drown the terror and painfulness of that dream, with its hints of reality that she never wants to believe, is stifling and poisonous, but for now it just feels so much easier to let the sour irritation win rather than the truer all consuming fear.
she feels your presence without looking up, your calm steadiness there beside her, and when her face crumples and she leans back and covers her eyes, you wrap your arms around her, and suddenly her dream feels so far away as she presses her face into your shoulder and you whisper that it's going to be okay.
♪ AETHER
he is almost painfully aware that it's a dream from the start, just from the way the deep blue sky shimmers with stars that shine from behind soft puffs of pale gray clouds. it looks too perfect to be real, and when he takes his eyes off the sky, he's sure of it, after he sees the hordes of familiar faces and you holding his hand, tucking a pristine golden petaled flower behind his ear.
he searches the crowd eagerly and there she is, lumine, waiting with open arms and a tearful smile, and just as he brushes hands with his sister at long last, and the voices of the crowd rise to a joyful roar, and it feels like everything in the world is finally right --
he awakes with a horrible, empty longing cemented deeply inside him, a feeling like he'll never be whole again and his heart was ripped from his chest in a single blow, refusing to let the aftershocks stop. his eyes are glazed over and he shakes, body trembling with held in cries.
your eyes widen; for all you had known, the dream he'd been having was a pleasant one, his lips forming a smile in his sleep that you were admiring when he awoke. you cup his face, unsure of what to do but wanting to comfort him in this moment, "a-aether," you say helplessly. "what's wrong?"
he bursts into sobs, clutching at you with white knuckles as tears pour down his face. you hold him tight to your chest, rubbing small circles into his back, and close your eyes with a pained breath. "it's okay, it's okay ... deep breaths ... " your quiet humming, while brutal loneliness thrums in the depths of his chest, is a paradoxical feeling. he knows you're there, knows you haven't left, and yet he feels heartbreakingly alone and like he'd give anything in the world for you to remain there.
it gets easier as time goes on, as everything; as the moments blink by, your voice dimming to a softer whisper, he finds his eyelids growing heavier again, and the constant longing in the back of his mind lifts slowly like a fog bank dissipating, until his mind is as clear as it's going to get and he drifts into a dreamless gray mindscape.
his dream is an unfathomable reality, a happy ending where he gets to stay with you and his sister and all the friends he made in teyvat; something he knows would be nothing short of a miracle to come true, and maybe the sudden sourness was a warning by his own subconscious that this was an impossibility.
but at least he hopes -- at least he wishes with all his heart and maybe allows himself to believe it could be his reality -- that you'll be always with him, the one constant on whose side he can still stand by the time his journey comes to an close.
and if that could be the one dream of his that ends up coming true maybe it could be a shield from the inevitable sorrow that will accompany the end; after all, you are the most perfectly unbelievable thing of all, and he counts his lucky stars every day that you're with him.

✤ — Universe: Sister! ✤ — Concept: The twin travelers Aether and Lumine lament over the loss of their older sibling following their argument and the destruction of their homeland. Little did they know who awaits their presence in the realm of the Abyss. ✤ — Characters: Aether & Lumine (platonic), Paimon, Diluc, Kaeya, Dainsleif A/N: Look at what's finally out of the prison called my drafts lmao- Dishing out some delicious plate of sibling angst. Behold, (Sister)AbyssLeader!MC. Ah yes, Aether & Lumine need hugs, they're terribly sad. Now, let's explore a common misunderstanding between siblings :))
Tumblr media
“Please just reconcile already.”
It's quiet—a poignant sound that demands to be heard through the dissonance. And it's heard.
“... Pardon?”
The clash of fiery bellows and icy roars meets again only to melt and vaporize in the wind. Silence is all that ensues until eyes start turning.
In the dead of the night, in a tavern now holding a few people in its belligerent-turned atmosphere, something breaks; patience.
There is a small, tentative voice. Shaken with understanding.
“Lumine-”
“Make up already! You shouldn't-” the blonde in question blinks as if she's trying to keep something at bay, “Siblings shouldn't fight. You'll regret it so please,”
The air is cold.
“Before it's too late... you need to get along.”
No one says a thing. They allow the gravity—the truth in her words to sink in.
But the female Traveler can no longer stand the idea of being in the same room with another pair of siblings who refuse to meet eye to eye.
It's far too similar, far too much in essence that she's the one that's hurting for their sake. So she leaves in a hurry, a sight to behold for a Traveler that's known to be composed.
Her twin brother follows without any ounce of hesitance.
The door shuts, leaving two men to ponder over their blazing glares and frigid tones that have now dissipated in an uneasy silence.
No one is awake on the eve of midnight to witness the Honorary Knights depart with faces contorted into emotions deemed impossible for them to even feature.
Their steps are heavy as they carried themselves past the gates of Mondstadt; a jolly city that isn't so jolly to them anymore.
What hangs in the air—a tension of their own—isn't addressed until their feet have crossed the threshold bridging Mondstat to the crossroads.
“I know what you're going to say, Aether, don't. I just can't help it, okay?”
They shy away from the blue moon and its light, heading towards the canopy of shades provided by the great tree in Windrise. The moon is too stark of a reminder that pains them still.
“Master Diluc... and Captain Kaeya,” two siblings whose bond fell out in their passing years, the same pair they've seen fighting just a while ago, “In the end, all they'll have is each other. If they keep fighting, then... a time will come..”
“You are my younger siblings, it's my responsibility to look after you.” “Don't be hasty, you two.”
“When they will regret it.”
“Were you two world-hopping again? How many times do I have to say that you should at least tell me? It's just the three of us.” “I can't bear to imagine a world without you two.”
Lumine allows herself to fall by the roots of the tree, the swaying of the tall grass reminiscent of the loving caress on her person.
Her throat starts to burn, “And- and..”
“It'd be too late.” Aether completes in his twin's stead, voice profuse with dolor.
Too late.
Two simple words with a meaning so irreversible, a weight too heavy to bear that it will capsize the mightiest of ships and collapse the strongest of towers.
This eventide is the famed and glorified Travelers' own descent into their void of great travail.
What's witnessed to be as firm as a primordial rock, as composed as the still waters, breaks with a small crevice on their form. At long last.
“She was crying, Aether. [Name] never cries, but-” her hands are trembling, unsure what to do with them until she settles for clasping them, “But our homeworld fissured before she can get to us.”
Warmth swarms them—and it's far from being the comforting kind. It is evocative of a time of old, of a time when a world burns.
The siblings hate how centuries—maybe even a millennium now—have already elapsed and still, the sweltering heat of the flames can be felt.
“We were consumed by the flames but we were still able to flee. [Name] didn't know that-”
“You don't know if that's true.”
“She didn't know that we survived! She saw us plummet and she was trying to get to us but we were already transported before she could!” her rising voice astounds her brother, “She probably thought we're still there.. probably stayed behind so she can look for us- she could've perished and-!”
A hand lands upon her shoulder, without a doubt to try and stabilize whatever rationality, sense, and composure is left.
“Lumine, calm down."
Yet even Aether is far from being composed if his shaky hand is anything to go by. Still, his gesture is appreciated, and his sibling mellows out her hysterics to tiny stammers.
It's a painful sight to see; Lumine caving in on herself, trying not to let the tremors seize full control as it did with her brother. Someone needs to- someone needs to have a clear head between them.
Though that's easier said than done.
“It's just that- I- we-”
And the high from emotions suppressed due to the sudden thrust into a different world, the fresh wound of an argument that can't be taken back, they have already made itself known.
The cracks are there and it's too late to hinder it. Now they're breaking.
And they're breaking apart.
“All she ever wanted was to protect us. Do you really think that [Name] would leave after not seeing us flee first?”
Tumblr media
“Just tell me if you're leaving, is that so hard to do? I'm not belittling either of you.”
The same old misunderstanding, how many times have they gone over this?
Aether released a sharp, clipped exhale. He then lifts his eyes to stare upon the slightly larger form of his older sibling, her enormous wings, grander and mightier... and the powerful nimbus exuding off of her.
“Then why do you have to be there in each of our battles? If you could just let us finish, you would see how perfectly capable we are on our own.” it isn't a lie, after all, they were her 'students', too.
[Name] only blinks, face passive, seemingly indifferent. “I worry.”
Worry? The twins try not to think much of their sister's blank visage.
Try not to think that her concern is superficial and exists only for show—that in fact, she does not feel anything. Because they know that [Name] has always been a feeling kind of individual.
Underneath that front of blankness lies a person who feels too much- loves too much for them. Baring those emotions for everyone to see just never has been, well, '[Name]'.
“That's the thing! You worry too much!” Aether bursts, failing to ensure his sangfroid.
There is a gentle tug on his cape, succeeded with a whisper of his name and a 'calm yourself', and he sighs. That second, there is an attempt to assuage his thinning patience before the argument turns uglier than necessary.
But that's almost impossible.
“You're my little siblings. I want to keep you safe, cooperate with me, why don't you?” it's a gentle thing to say, delivered just as gently.
But the aggro that's been accumulating for plenty of years distorts how they perceive such benignity.
Gone is the loving sister they're so fond of, and in her stead is a being with the same face carrying a semblance of care. Such is how their psyche, suffused with spite, warps a supposedly pleasant image into a mockery.
The twins share a look before nodding, their wings lifting them off the ground with the intention to venture past their world once more.
[Name] tenses, blank face displaying a small crevice that leaks alarm as she asks where they're going.
“Far from home for now... just to, to compose ourselves.”
“I don't think you should leave,” her voice is evident with dread, “Lately something's amiss with-”
Lumine sighs, “See, [Name], this is why we don't tell you... you refuse to let us leave.”
A beat of silence.
Did it really come off like that? [Name] swallows with a blink of her golden eyes. I had no intention to... I only ever wanted to know where they're going, it's...
Not knowing where her siblings are is what shakes her to the core.
She lowers her head, the epiphany dawning like the sun, “I... My apologies. I'm sorry.”
“We'll come back,” Aether assures her, though his voice does little to conceal his desire to satiate his wanderlust.
“Don't leave... Aether, Lumine.”
There is a fissure in [Name]'s visage, showing concern and fear upon hearing those words. But her siblings are no longer there to see it.
The twins traveled far and beyond as they dreamt of, only flying to their homeworld after a set time to fulfill their promise of return.
But the world they come back into is no longer the world they left from.
Crimson paints the sky, bleeding with rain that fails to quell the raging inferno. Voices ring in a babel—a chorus singing a requiem in the crumbling, burning earth.
They have no time to wonder why everything's falling apart. There is only one objective. Where, where is—
“Lumine! Aether! Where are you?!”
It's a voice so uncharacteristically profuse with panic that has them veering their eyes from left to right. But the smog hinders their sights, the most they can do is to try and swerve away from equally distressed people who are in the middle of fleeing.
Aether flies through the haze with his twin following behind, hissing at the heat of the enormous flames.
There's another call of his name, nearer than before, and he turns to change course—but someone collides against him. Immediately, his balance is tipped and he's falling in the banquet of flames.
Lumine reaches for him with a yell, their bodies cloaking with a golden light as they descend further into the scorching element.
It's meant to be blazing hot, and they really would've burned if not for the sheltering gold that takes care in preparing to transport them to a faraway world. To safety.
But then [Name] appears just above the flickering tips of the conflagration, features contorted in horror as she continues her cries of their names.
Lumine gasps, reaching out her hand, “[Name]!”
But by the time their older sibling turns down, golden eyes dilating, the flames ravage the twins whole and they're nowhere to be seen.
Tumblr media
“I miss her so much, Aether, it hurts.”
Rivers spill from both eyes and neither has any intent to stop them.
“We couldn't even- we couldn't even apologize.”
Although they are here side by side, together, they are incomplete; they're meant to be a family of three.
“She might be gone now and I hate to think that our last memory together was us fighting.”
Not two.
Lumine fidgets with her hands, unsure what to do with their tremors. She wonders if she should just hide her face in them, or clench them in a semblance of fortitude.
Doing neither, she opts to just clasp and wring her fingers together in an otiose assay to mimic her sister's firm yet gentle hold on it.
She swallows, voice tight, “We don't even have anything in her memory.”
Aether's chest squeezes in remorse as his remaining sibling takes to leaning on his shoulder. He deems it strange to suddenly be the pillar of comfort, a role that's once suited for his older sister.
“I miss [Name], too,” his voice is barely audible on purpose, afraid that it'll waver if it gets any louder, “I'm just as guilty as you are. But she won't like it if we're to keep this up... we need to be strong.”
That indeed is true.
“I'm sure that... she would like us to be that way.”
An older sibling wishes for nothing but the strength of their younger kin; strength to overcome hurdles, to keep their chins up, and to keep on living.
But when adversity comes that threatens one's mettle... when a situation is tailored to enervate you, strength and weakness come to play.
When at its face, which will reign supreme? Vigor or frailty?
Will you fortify—
The Abyss Herald falters under the might of the golden suns, its cursed life a mere second away from snapping into nothingness.
But before it can proceed, there's a swift blur of [c].
—Or will you crumble?
An arching sweep glimmering with stars cuts through the fracas of navy and marigold, deflecting the onslaught of attacks in an easy strike.
The twins skid far back in the violet-tinted site raging with abyssal energy, ears picking up on their recently acquired companion—Dainsleif—and his sharp demand of 'wait'. Followed by a name.
A familiar name that has them stilling.
Dainsleif vanishes into the portal—without care for the Herald—before the Travelers can see who he's chasing, and the portal closes behind him.
They reach an answer implying that his chase is all for naught, though, because whoever he's chasing has no intentions to be caught. And whoever that is is coming back.
No openings are visible until a second later, when a fissure breaks through reality and out saunters a figure whose direction is towards the inverted statue.
“King...” murmurs the abyssal creature.
The title, though perfectly heard, is not paid any attention. No, the siblings focus on the lone figure upon the demolished steps leading towards the forgotten statue.
Aureate eyes widen and settle upon the distant figure of a woman. The same person being lamented over since the twins' arrival in Teyvat.
Despite being sequined in violet and gold, despite being cloaked in the stars... there is no mistaking those [c] tresses. Nor the aura she carries with each step.
Can it be?
“[N]-” Lumine starts, her voice tiny, “[Name]... ? Is that really you?”
A question breathed in a whisper so hushed, yet, it is not unheard.
[Name] looks just as surprised as they are, though her reaction is much more mellow and composed—as if she's considered the thought of them being alive and has clung to that chance.
“Aether... Lumine,” her voice is uncharacteristically soft, opposing the rigidity of her features. “You're alive.”
But underneath that firm layer of coldness, the younger siblings know—they feel the relief. The mutual happiness.
Such can be seen in the glossing of [Name]'s golden eyes, the only similar feature she has with the two.
Hearing their respective names be called out for so long—after long, long centuries spent in unconscious grief—all but beckons the twins' eyes to water.
Sister... !
“We- we are!” Lumine, the first to snap out of her trance, steps forward with a trembling smile.
She cannot believe this- this miracle.
“We're safe. And- and we're complete!” she grabs Aether's hand in hers to add emphasis on the fact that they're all in one place.
Together. Like they used to.
As a family of three.
The blond reaches her hand out in invitation, “Come, let's—”
But maybe that's just wishful thinking.
The unexplained aversion of eyes and the slight change of direction to face the abyssal portal makes Lumine pause her words and drop her hand.
Something does not bode well.
Fraught with dread—and the desire not to ascertain the answer but alas must be done—the air grows colder.
Aether is the next one to step forward, having caught the appearance of a frosty expression on his older sister's face. It's so foreign, so unlike her, so different from the warm fondness on her otherwise blank visage.
What's wrong?
“[Name]?” he does not notice how afraid he sounded.
His approach has not heeded any mind, though, because [Name] is not batting an eye towards him—at them—at all. Instead, she is strolling to the open portal being looked over by the Herald.
She's not looking at them. She's not doing anything- she's-
Leaving?
Their other traveling companion—a sad thing to note that they've forgotten Paimon's presence—shrieks in fluster when Aether bounces to a sprint, hand outreached.
“[Name]-!”
The woman in question slinks to the side, eyes glazed over with a shadow that presages a warning.
Spears of glittering gold rain from above like judgements of the divine, falling around the twins in a circle. A cage.
They've seen it a hundred times, having known their sister's mode of fighting throughout their life. But something is amiss with these spears, they aren't as... gentle as usual.
For even if [Name] seeks to encase someone, she assures that nothing can harm them. Despite having a prisoner, she does not spill their blood in their cages, not until necessary.
But when Lumine seizes hold of the spears, she cries out at the deep, cutting sensation upon her palms. She starts to tremble in her endeavors of searching for the reason why, but [Name]'s eyes remain blank and cold.
It is then apparent that the woman has no plan to let her siblings go after her. Much like what she'd done to Dainsleif.
Which sets a fine line—a division, a rift between them. When supposedly, there should be nothing.
There have always been no such partitions between them, regardless of the mires and disputes. In the end, the three of them never fail to look past it.
“Why are you doing this?” Lumine whispers, voice strained, tinged with disbelief. Why are you turning us away?
Her hands remain motionless at her side, unsure what to do with them now that she can't grasp onto the spears lest she's wounded further.
[Name] blinks once, then turns away. Her eyes still encompass that faraway look, too distant as if she's locked in a time so long ago.
Then with a monotonous voice, she answers, “... To save.”
The twins go still. Save?
“The both of you are in no condition to be with me. Only after you have completed your journey will you understand.”
This particular statement flies by their heads, far too wrapped around the answer 'to save'. To save who? What?
Is it because they turned away from her wishes to keep them safe, that she decided to go astray and fixate on saving someone else?
“Wait- where are you going?!” Aether fusses with wide eyes, seeing the older one of the three beginning to enter the portal.
“Don't leave us-!”
“Where are you going?”
Is it because they couldn't apologize? Because they took her warning for granted?
Lumine makes a quick observation of her cage of golden spears, trying to find a way out, but no such thing is present. She's resigned to striking them with her sword, but it does nothing.
There's no time to think. No time to do anything.
[Name] is leaving and they don't know when they'll see her again, or if they ever will and it's terrifying to imagine.
Is this what she felt?
Lumine is almost powerless, what with her shaking knees. She's afraid, she's too afraid.
In their time in Teyvat, they come to know that it isn't any light-hearted world they know. Teyvat is a dark, dark world shrouded with false, feathery happiness.
[Name] being far too deep in verboten matters of this world entails risks, risks that may cost her life and they can't bear to imagine-
Strewn pride aside, Lumine shouts, “Take us with you! Sister!”
“Don't leave... Aether, Lumine.”
Chagrined, [Name] shakes her head. The distress in her siblings' voices fails to sway her resolve. Not to say that it would in the first place.
The fact is castrating to the twins, who grow cold at this epiphany.
Their hopes of seeing [Name] crumble into resignation dissipates when they realize that she only looks exasperated.
“Until the time to reunite comes, this is our farewell.” she says, only gracing them with one last look before resuming her amble towards the portal.
No. The thought rings through both of the twins' minds.
Reduced to mere whispers, Aether clenches the fabric of his pants, knuckles white as his hurting throat sounds out pleas.
“We're sorry... please, we just saw each other again, don't do this.”
Five hundred years apart, clasping on nothing but the memory of an argument that tore them asunder, their desperation is understandable.
But even their sorries do not touch [Name]'s heart.
When this is again realized, the fear in their chests intensifies.
“Wait.” Lumine murmurs, heart racing. “Don't...”
The Herald bows as its leader passes by, chin held high, unbothered, indifferent—uncaring.
Seeing it ripples the twins with such dread and desperation. They can't believe- they can't believe this.
It's so hypocritical to feel this fear when they too, often left their sister behind bearing the same insouciance. But they feel the fear, feel the horror, and the hysteria—because people only ever feel these when they are the ones playing the tragic role.
Vision befogged with mist, eyes stinging with water, Aether grits his teeth and grabs ahold of the spears.
Pain blossoms in his palms and blood begin to trickle, but that pain is little compared to seeing someone leave.
Turn around. He pleads, but no god hears his pleas.
“We can handle ourselves just fine, [Name]. Don't worry so much.”
“No... no, wait.. ! Sister! Sister!” he exclaims, eyesight blurry as tears start to spill.
He doesn't even know why—is it because lacerations have sliced his hands? Or because [Name] refused the idea of becoming a family again?
In his cloud of reflection, he fails to realize that the cage has disintegrated and his twin is racing with a speed he hasn't seen.
“[Name]!!” Lumine calls, fingertips brushing against the back of her older sister, but she merely passes through the cloak of blue and black—and the portal closes.
Defeated, she sinks to the ground, eyes wide, “Ah... no.”
Paimon does not know how to use her voice as the pair grieves on the stone floor, next to the portal that took their sibling away.
She left no traces, not even a glimmer of flaxen dust from the spears she conjured. Nothing.
Just another memory of her presence—of her departure.
Now, both Aether and Lumine are the ones to soothe the anguish in their hearts.
“... Come back.”
Now, they are the ones to whisper the same words they heard but paid no attention to.
Tumblr media
a/n: yes, MC is referred to as a 'King' despite being a woman, this is because the title of 'King' is the highest (and thus most powerful person) in a reigning dynasty. And MC is stronger than the twins (granted we don't know how exactly strong they are but just envision-). So, er, Saber moment? 😆

Rapunther (A Xiaoaether Tangled AU)
This whole story was inspired by @rueleaf-art on Instagram and Tumblr! Go check her out!!
Rapunther, a young man with long, golden hair, seeks to watch the lanterns that his father insisted are just merely "stars".
Xiao, a wanted general from another kingdom that goes by the title of Alatus, seeks a safe refuge so that he would not go back to serve the king who once tortured him and his yaksha companions for evil deeds.
What happens... if the two of them meet for the first time? Will Rapunther be able to witness the "stars" he yearns as a child locked inside a tower?
Will the wanted general find solace and love from someone he just met?
Will Rapunther finally escape from the shackles of the tower he once called home?
This brings you the Tangled AU of this ship, Rapunther.
.
.
.
.
This is a story of a boy named Rapunther.
And it all starts with the sun.
Now, once upon a time, a single drop of golden sunlight fell from the heavens, and from this small drop of sun fell onto an Inteyvat flower amidst a giant field of blossoming flowers. The flower that once consists of white and light blue petals, is now a magical, golden flower.
Many years passed, the kingdom was ruled by a king and queen, and the queen is expecting a child. Unfortunately, the queen was frail and sick. Her breaths were slow and soft, her eyes sunken and dark from exhaustion, and she could barely move from her bed. As time is running out, the people of the kingdom would try to find any miracle, be it herbs, alchemy, or even elemental magic.
Yet, none of them seemed to work.
That is, until they heard of a legend called the golden Inteyvat flower, where it can cure all sickness and diseases. Why is it called a legend, you may ask?
You see, that specific flower came from a land that was once abandoned during the war. It’s people have passed away, either from being murdered or due to the side effects of the war, which is called ‘Erosion’, It is where it can cause a person to lose their sense of self, from their memories to their own bodies, fading like a sand that’s blown away from the wind.
As Inteyvat flowers wilt quickly, it was even impossible to find them after the events of the war.
The only detail that was not mentioned about the legend… was that it was hoarded by a man named Chlothar Eide. Instead of sharing the heavens’ gift, he resented the Gods for not seeking aid to him during the war, and thus he hoarded the flower all to himself, to prevent himself from eroding, keeping him alive for hundreds of years.
And all he had to do… was to sing a song to it.
Mu fla, mon cravi shaviri
Pu makriya
Vu, melodie son nafluri
Mu fla, mon cravi shaviri
Pu mashi na
Hu lu mi sche yo
Diri
Rilacri
Si yu mi flavi
Drim cra ri chi di piu
Melodi, suvinavi
Rilacri
Si yu mi flavi
Drim cra ri chi di piu
Melodi, suvina
In the blink of an eye, the old man transformed. His wrinkles gradually disappear, his once grey hair regains its youthful black hue, and his mind feels refreshed and rejuvenated. He stood before the flower, a vision of his younger self, letting out a cackling laughter for his hidden salvation.
That is, until he hears subtle footsteps.
In a quick moment, he grabs a basket that is covered with leaves and twigs that resembles like a bush, and covers the flower up quickly, dimming the golden light. Yet, as he quickly turns to leave, his lamplight that’s hanging from his arm accidentally knocks out of the basket, revealing the bright flower. Without realising it, he runs to hide in another bush, carefully watching to see who was out there.
Just then, a few soldiers arrive, lamplights in their hand to search for the flower. Due to Chloatar’s carelessness, they found the golden flower in a field of wilted flowers that crumbled like dust.
“We found it!”
They carefully dug the flower out and carried it to their kingdom.
Meanwhile, Chloatar could only stare intensely, watching as the flower gradually disappeared from his sight.
With the petals of the golden flower carefully plucked onto the water, the king carefully holds the bowl while the queen sips the magic of the golden flower, healing her.
With the miracle, a pair of twins were born.
Two healthy babies. A prince and a princess.
Aether and Lumine.
With beautiful golden hair, one longer and one shorter.
To celebrate their birth, the king and queen launched two flying lanterns into the sky.
For that one moment, everything was perfect. Yet, it was shattered over their heads like a beer bottle.
Because that’s all it is.
A moment.
“Finally… It's done. You two were such a pain to deal with.” Chlothar throws away the stained beer bottle, shattering onto the floor. Both the king and queen’s head were stained with blood, tainting the white pillows and bedsheets. The canopy bed had fallen to the ground, a sign of a struggle from the both of them.
“Thankfully, with this herb I sneaked into your meals. Both of you were too weak to fight against me.” He throws away the brown round pills onto the floor, smashing the contents into pieces until it turns into dust. The sounds of the twins’ wails made Chlothar blink back to reality, remembering his task.
“Right… the magical flowers .”
He walks towards the crib.
The moment he sees the twins’ blonde hair, the sounds of their cries drown out in his mind, his smile as wide as a butcher’s knife.
He looked towards the baby with longer hair, gently touching his soft and silky hair against his wrinkled fingers with spots.
“You cannot mock me more than fate itself already has.”
Chloatar sings the same song to them, watching their hair turn from a blonde to a bright golden hue. He grabs a small knife from his pocket, intending to cut a few strands in hopes to keep the golden hued hair to preserve his youth. Instead, the moment he cuts it, the hair reverts back to its light blonde hue, and his body and mind are reverted back to his current self, dishevelled and old with an insane look on his face.
“No… No!”
Seeing his only power fading, Chloatar had no choice.
He took one of the twins, and ran away from the palace.
And just like that, the prince was gone.
The kingdom searched and searched everywhere, but they could not find the prince. Due to the fears of losing their male heir and maintaining their power in a patriarchal monarchy, they announced to their people that their ‘princess’ Aether is the one that was kidnapped and missing, while ‘prince’ Lumine is the heir for now.
Deep within a forest, in a hidden tower, Chlothar raised the child as his own. He had found his new magic flower, but this time, he was determined to keep it hidden.
“Why can’t I go outside?” The child asked.
“The outside world is a dangerous place, filled with horrible, selfish people.” Chlothar said, humming as he brushes Rapunther’s hair, that glows as bright as the fire down the chimney. “You must stay here, where you are safe. Do you understand, flower?”
“Yes father.” The child said, gazing at the closed window.
What Chlothar forgot one thing, is that the tower could not hide anything. Each year on the twins’ birthday, the king and queen would release thousands of lanterns into the sky, in hope that one day, their lost prince would return.
Rapunther would always sneak out, his long hair cascading down the steps, He would carefully open the windows to gaze at the brightly lit lanterns, hoping that one day…
He’ll be able to hold it.
I hope you enjoy this chapter! I have updated a new chapter on this story and that I have added disclaimers on the very first chapter of the story. Do check it out if you are interested or if you want to know more about this story!

kazuha.
In the tranquil solitude of the night, beneath the vast expanse of stars, you sat on the ground, your silhouette outlined by the gentle glow of moonlight as you gazed up at the stars above. Your heart ached with the weight of loss, your thoughts consumed by memories of your one love Kazuha.
Once, he had been the light of your life, his laughter like music to your ears, his gentle touch a source of comfort in times of need. But now, he was gone, taken from you by a cruel twist of fate, leaving behind only the echo of his presence and a void that seemed impossible to fill.
Every night, you would come to this secluded spot, the one you used to visit together, where the stars seemed to shine just a little brighter. It was here that you had shared your dreams, your hopes, and your love. And it was here that you felt closest to him, as if his spirit lingered among the celestial canvas above.
With a heavy heart, you whispered Kazuha's name into the stillness of the night, your voice barely louder than a breath. "Kazuha," you murmured, your eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "Do you see the stars, my love? Are you watching over me from beyond the veil of the heavens?"
You closed your eyes, letting the memories wash over you like a gentle tide. You remembered the way Kazuha would hold your hand as you sat together beneath the night sky, his words a soothing balm to your troubled soul. And you remembered the promise you had made, to always be together, even when the world conspired to tear you apart.
But now, that promise lay shattered, scattered by the winds of fate. Kazuha was gone, his laughter silenced, his touch but a distant memory. And yet, you could not bring yourself to believe that he was truly lost forever.
For in the depths of your grief, there was a glimmer of hope, a belief that somehow, someway, Kazuha had found peace in the afterlife. You imagined him reunited with his dear friend, the two of them laughing and reminiscing beneath the eternal light of the stars.
And so, each night, you would come to this sacred place, your heart heavy with sorrow yet warm with the belief that Kazuha was watching over you, his love a guiding beacon in the darkness. And as you gazed up at the heavens above, you felt a sense of peace wash over you, knowing that wherever Kazuha was, he was not truly gone.
For as long as the stars continued to shine, so too would the memory of your love burn bright, illuminating the darkest corners of your soul and reminding you that even in death, your bond would never be broken.
traveler.
In Teyvat, where the winds whisper secrets and the stars tell tales of heroes, there once was a traveler from a distant world. This traveler had been searching for their sibling, and in the midst of their search had found someone else they cared for: you.
Your love knew no boundaries, spanning across the nations and beyond the reach of time itself. But fate, like a capricious deity, had other plans. Your lover, in their quest to protect the fragile balance of Teyvat, met their end in a valiant battle against a formidable foe. And as their spirit ascended, leaving behind a world engulfed in sorrow, you were left to wander Teyvat alone.
Every night, as the sky painted itself with the luminescence of countless stars, you would go up to the highest peak you could find. There, beneath the blanket of twinkling lights, you would sit, your heart heavy with longing, your eyes searching the heavens for a glimpse of your lover.
"They're among them," you would whisper to the ethereal void, your voice carrying both sorrow and hope. "My love, shining bright among the stars."
In those moments, you would feel a familiar warmth wrap around you, a fleeting sensation that whispered of your lover's enduring presence. You imagined them traversing the celestial expanse, a celestial wanderer among the constellations, watching over you with tender affection.
As time unfurled its tapestry, you found solace in your nightly ritual. The stars became your confidants, the silent witnesses to your whispered prayers and tearful confessions. And though your lover's physical form had departed, their essence lingered in the gentle caress of the night breeze and the shimmering radiance of the cosmos.
And as you gazed upon the heavens each night, your faith unshaken, you found solace in the belief that your lover had returned to their celestial home among the stars, finishing their search at last.
venti.
In Mondstadt, where the winds sing their eternal melodies and the stars dance in the night sky,
Venti, the mischievous bard of Mondstadt, was known for his jovial spirit and melodious songs that enchanted the hearts of all who listened. But amidst his carefree nature, there was one whose heart he held dearer than any other – his lover, a gentle soul whose love for Venti burned like the brightest star in the night sky.
Your love was as boundless as the vast expanse of the heavens, and together, you would spend countless nights beneath the vast expanse of the sky, nestled in each other's arms as you gazed up at the twinkling stars. Venti would weave tales of ancient myths and celestial wonders, his voice carrying across the night like a gentle breeze.
But fate, like the ever-changing winds, can be unpredictable.
One fateful day, Venti's song was silenced, his laughter stilled. News of his passing spread like wildfire, leaving behind a trail of sorrow that even the wind could not carry away. Your heart shattered into a million pieces, each shard a painful reminder of the void left by your beloved bard.
In the wake of Venti's passing, you found solace in the memories you had shared under the starlit sky. You would sit by the edge of the cliff overlooking Mondstadt, watching as the stars sparkled like fragments of Venti's soul scattered across the heavens.
In the quiet solitude of those nights, you would recall his words, spoken with a whimsical smile and a twinkle in his eyes. "If ever I should depart from this world," he had said, "fear not, for I shall join the stars themselves, and from there, I shall watch over you always."
And so, as you gazed up at the luminous tapestry above, you couldn't help but smile through your tears, for you believed with all your heart that Venti was among those celestial beings, guiding you with his eternal light.
Though the ache of loss never truly faded, you found comfort in the belief that Venti's spirit lived on in the stars, a constant reminder that your love was as infinite as the universe itself. And so, you continued to watch the stars every night, knowing that somewhere up there, Venti was watching over you, his laughter echoing in the celestial chorus that danced across the night sky.

Here’s the Aether Exhaustion Fic!!! I know it took forever, but I think it was really worth the wait!!
I did make it Xiao x Aether (just majorly hinted at, neither of them really make any moves) so I hope that’s okay? If not, I can always try again when I get more energy! (Aether x Xiao is just my go-to)
Aether dragged himself through the weeds of Liyues fields.
He just had to deal with 2 commissions of fighting, and two of incompetent citizens. And he didn’t want to be mean; he really wanted to help people. He loved helping people, but sometimes… it was just too much.
So, after his legs started to burn, he sat himself against a rock to rest.
Just breath… it’ll be okay… He told himself.
He was close to believing that, if it hadn’t been for the Hilichurls that started to gather around in the field.
“Noooo… no no no!” He muttered, frustrated.
He was tired- oh so absolutely tired.
But of course he had a job to do. A duty to the citizens of these nations.
He gathered the strength to pull himself up, and hold his sword steady in his hands.
The Hilichurls then noticed him- growling and hissing as they did.
“Hya!” He called out, sending a whirlwind towards the Hilichurls, knocking some of them back.
“Just- die!” He grunted, slashing others with his sword.
They lunged and one lit their fire stick, taking a moment before barreling towards him.
The fire just barely touched him, burning his shoulder- yet he didn’t have the time to heal himself before another threw a rock at him.
He sighed, slouching over as he turned his head to look at the Hilichurl that hit him.
“Really?” He asked, before slashing that one down too.
As he started to get better, a roar erupted from behind him.
“Fuck-” He muttered, turning to see the Mitachurl behind him.
“Come on! Please! Just leave me alone- I’m so tired!” He yelled, practically begging.
He felt his body slowling down- he didn’t know just how much more he could take.
The Mitachurl let out a thundering roar, then charged towards him.
He collapsed, holding his head in his hands, unable to even think clearly.
“Im so exhausted…” He murmured, shaking his head.
Wind began to whirl around him- the air keeping the monsters away.
“I'm so sick and tired of this!” He yelled, the wind got harsher and faster.
The ground started to shake and grow orange-hued glowing spikes.
“Just leave me alone! I can't take this anymore! I work all day- I protect everyone! But what's left for me!? Who’s gonna help me!? Huh!?” He screamed, letting all of his frustrations out onto the monsters.
And as the final Hilichurl laid dead at his feet, he fell to the ground once more, his body truly giving out.
“All I wanted… was to find my sister… All I've ever wanted… was to find my sister…” He cried, feeling the tears streaming down his face.
As his eyes blurred with tears, and his body hit the ground, he could only imagine a warm comfort, a body enveloping him in a much needed hug… or was he not imagining it?
The next time he woke up, he was in a familiar place. Wangshu Inn. The midday sun shone into the room, making him feel awake. Though he couldn't really ignore the striking pain in his right leg, and the pressure pain in his left.
“Aether!” He heard a voice call out.
He wiped his eyes, trying to wipe the last bit of sleep from his eyes. He recognized the voice, and he smiled.
“Paimon…” He said, exhausted.
“Oh thank the Archons, you’re alright! Paimon was so worried! You know, Paimon was scared you weren’t gonna wake up, but luckily-!” Paimon (obviously) couldn’t stop talking (or worrying).
“I wasn’t going to let anything happen to him, Paimon.” Another familiar voice said, coming over from the balcony.
Aether looked over and lo-and-behold; Adeptus Xiao. He was sitting on the railing, looking over at the two of them.
“You saved me?” Aether asked, in a bit of disbelief.
“Yes, why wouldn’t I?” He asked, walking towards the injured blond.
“I just… I didn’t call for you…” He muttered, slightly surprised by the kindness of the usually stoic Adeptus.
“You didn’t need to.”
Aether smiled (and slightly blushed), as he began to examine his wounds.
There was silence.
“Paimons gonna let you two speak! Paimon needs food~!” She giggled, then floated off to the dining area.
More… silence.
“Thank you…” Aether said, eventually.
“No need to thank me. I only did what I needed to do.” Xiao said truthfully.
“I um- I’ll find a way to pay you back…” Aether said, “It might take a bit though… These wounds seem pretty bad.” He laughed a bit,
“Why… why would you need to pay me back?” Xiao asked.
“I- uh… just thought- well, you know, you helped me so… I need to help you?” Aether tried to piece the parts together.
Xiao looked at him- he looked upset.
“Wh-what?” Aether asked, concerned as Xiao took a seat on the end of his bed.
“I saved you because I wanted to,” Xiao stated, then he got a brilliant idea, “But if you insist on paying me back… I want you to relax for a couple of days. Not just for your wounds, but for yourself in general.”
Aether's eyes got wide.
“I- I can't do that! I’ve got commissions and requests to complete! I mean, once I can get some food in my system, I’ll be just fine!” Aether said, smiling awkwardly as he tried to convince his friend.
Xiao clearly wasn’t having it.
“You mortals think you are capable of everything in the world…” Xiao sighed.
Aether frowned.
“But you aren’t.” He continued, “And you'll do more harm than good if you don't realize that.”
Xiao’s face was stern, but his voice was softer than Aether had ever heard it before.
“Okay… fine…” Aether gave in, “We can relax, but just for a bit.”
Xiao seemed pleased with this.
“Good, would you like me to help you replace your bandages before we leave?” He asked.
Aether looked confused, “We’re leaving?”
“I actually wanted to take you to one of my favorite places to relax… if that's alright…”
Xiao had meant for it to sound like a comforting suggestion, or even a cheerful one, but it didn’t exactly come off that way. He wasn’t ever good at this stuff, even when he was with… the other friends…
Aethers face got pinker, and he seemed to get flustered but still smiled brightly, “O-oh! Yeah, um, of course, we can do that!”
Xiao felt his face get hot, seeing the blond smile like that.
“Good…” He murmured, looking away to hide his face.
“And yes, I could use some help with these wounds.” Aether replied.
So, Xiao started to help Aether re-bandage himself, making sure to wrap him up nicely.
“Is that alright?” He asked, bandaging where he had gotten burned.
“Yeah, that's- uh, that's fine…” Aether stuttered, his face was a sunsettia red color.
Xiao didn’t know why he was so flustered, till he realized just how close their faces were to each other.
He quickly but carefully finished taking care of the wound, and once he was done, he helped the boy stand.
“There, how do you feel?” He asked Aether.
“Hmm… Hungry…” Aether groaned playfully.
“Oh, right, we should go get you some food then.” Xiao said, holding his hand out for Aether to take it.
Aether took it carefully and they began to walk. His legs didn’t hurt too much, but enough for him to need help.
As they made their way down to the dining area of the Inn, they saw Paimon talking to the chef.
“Oh! Aether, Xiao! Paimon was just about to order her second round of lunch, what do you guys want?” She asked as she floated over.
“Your… second round?” Xiao asked, concerned.
“Don’t worry, this is normal for Paimon.” Aether told his friend, “I’ll have… Tianshu Meat, please.” He asked with a smile.
“Great! What about you, Xiao? Do you want anything?” Paimon asked.
“Oh, I… I don’t-” Xiao attempted to answer for himself.
“He’ll have some Almond Tofu.” Aether smiled.
“Huh?” Xiao asked, looking at him as Paimon floated back towards the chef.
“I know you like it, and you can consider it as some payback… for your help…” Aether told him softly.
“Right… okay.” Xiao agreed.
Whatever made him feel better, he's fine with.
So, the two of them sat at a table, and Paimon soon joined them, along with a feast of breakfast foods.
“And- this is supposed to be your second round of food?” Xiao asked.
“Don't try to think about it too long, I still don't even know how Paimon can eat this much…” Aether whispered to him as they watched Paimon pick each dish off as if they were the Millelith fighting hilichurls.
So, the two of them ate quietly while Paimon did all the talking.
Soon they all finished (including Paimon who was now stuffed). The chef then came over to collect the dishes.
“Oh, here! I’ll help!” Aether offered, attempting to stand on his own to grab the plates.
As he tried to stand, his right leg gave out under him and he fell back into his seat- wait seats don't have arms and body heat-
As he realized what or who he fell onto, he started to apologize.
“Sorry-! I shouldn’t have tried to stand- Im so sorry-” He freaked, transferring back to his own seat.
“Aether, it's okay. You fell, I caught you. It's alright.” Xiao told him gently.
“Wow Xiao! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you that comforting!” Paimon mused, smirking a bit.
“Paimon! I-it wasn’t that big of a deal!” Aether blushed.
“Okay! Okay!” Paimon backed off, “Anyway, Paimon will go help with the dishes.”
As Paimon grabbed some plates and floated off, Aether was left very confused.
Since when has Paimon ever wanted to help with physical labor? (carrying things can't be very difficult for her, but still, she was helping nonetheless)
He then realized it was the second time she had left him alone with Xiao.
“So… what other things must I do to complete your request of relaxing?” Aether asked curiously.
Xiao thought for a moment.
“We’ll… if it didn’t bother you too much, we could go to a resting place that I like…?” He posed the question, waiting for Aethers reaction.
“Oh! Yeah, sure! I’d love to see where you hang out when you aren’t here or out battling!” Aether seemed delighted to know more about the Yaksha.
Xiao felt a smile dance on his lips, but he pushed the urge away. He instead focused on how Aether could go from being so happy and bright, to being saddened and in despair. It… made him feel things towards the blond… Things he hadn’t felt in such a long time.
He could barely say that he had friends, and even less so people closer than that. But people like Morax and Aether… made it different.
They were both people that could be close to him without his karma taking effect, and had helped him in many ways. He was forever grateful for them, but was scared to open to them any more than that.
Yet when he saw them smile, or laugh, or be kind to him and share in their comfort… It felt good. He enjoyed it and that scared him.
He was pulled from his thoughts when he heard Aether calling his name.
“Xiaoo~?” The blond called out in front of him.
“Hm? Sorry- must’ve… got lost in my head…” He muttered, turning to face Aether.
“It's alright! Now, about that place?” Aether beamed.
“Oh, yeah, it's just on the coast of Guili Plains. Pretty nice. If we get going now, we’ll reach there by the evening’s end.” Xiao told him.
“Great!” Aether went to stand again, but Xiao was able to steady him before he collapsed again.
“Ah- right. Haha…” He laughed nervously, holding into Xiaos forearm tightly as he steadied himself, putting less pressure on his right leg (It was hurt worse).
Soon enough, Paimon came back from the kitchen.
“Oh! Are you two going somewhere?” Paimon asked.
“Actually, yes! Do you wanna come with us? We are going to relax. Well- I’m relaxing as per Xiao’s request.” Aether explained.
As Aether said this, Paimon seemed to get awfully tired.
“Oh wow!” She yawned, “Paimon’s really starting to feel tired! All that food has definitely caused this… Paimon will stay here and sleep! You two can go off and have fun!”
She then turned to Xiao specifically and said, “Have Aether back before Midnight or Paimon will be very upset with you!”
Xiao looked a little nervous, which surprised Aether. How could he look anything other than brooding and upset? And even more so; how could Paimon make Xiao nervous?
“Okay, okay, Paimon, we’ll stay safe. Now go get your greatly deserved nap.” Aether giggled, being dramatic.
So, Paimon floated off and Xiao and Aether left Wangshu Inn. Aether got a wonderful idea as they began to near the bridge that departed from the Inn.
“Oh! Xiao! Could you pick that flower for me?” He asked, pointing to a Silk Flower bush. “I would, but my legs really hurt.”
It wasn’t really a lie, but it would help him.
“Oh… sure.” Xiao agreed, “I don’t really know why you would want such a plain looking-“
Xiao bent down to pick the flower, when suddenly- Aether jumped onto his back. Xiao managed to stay steady enough to get a hold of Aether's legs.
“A-Aether?” He exclaimed out with a bit of panic and a sigh.
“Sorry! Is this okay?” He asked, leaning over his shoulder to look at him.
Xiao felt his face heat up once more.
What is happening to me? He thought to himself.
As they both got stabilized, Xiao gave him the picked Silk Flower.
“Yeah, it’s alright. Here, the flower you wanted…” He said, handing Aether the flower.
Aether took the flower, then neatly nestled it into Xiao's hair.
“There!” Aether smiled.
Why… why is he making my heart beat so fast? Am I dying? What’s going on?…
“Um- y-yeah… how about we get going?” Xiao asked, looking straight ahead.
“Onward!” Aether smiled, pointing towards the bridge.
The walk was nice, they talked and laughed and even got to watch the sky change from blue to orange, to pink and yellow.
As they got to the shore, sitting under a nearby tree, Xiao couldn’t help but feel… so calm…
“It’s so pretty~!” Aether was mesmerized by the view.
Meanwhile, Xiao was mesmerized by him.
He caught himself staring at the blond, admiring his hair, his eye and clothes. For some reason, he was so enamored by him. Things he had never felt before were rising to the surface, and as Aether looked at him, he couldn’t look away this time.
“Are you alright Xiao?” Aether asked, cocking his head slightly.
“Yeah… I am…” Xiao murmured, allowing himself to smile.
He felt warm.
Aether smiled back, and scooted himself closer to Xiao, which surprised the dark haired boy.
Aether then laid his head on Xiaos shoulder, which wasn't too uncomfortable.
“Thank you, Xiao...” Aether whispered, looking out to the water, “…for today, I mean.”
Xiao looked down at the blond, then back at the gleaming water too.
And as he rested his head onto Aethers, he whispered, “of course… you deserved it.”
Their hands moved to hold each other, and for once, both of them could breath and feel free.
(Also I’m going to sleep immediately after posting this (it’s 11pm for me) so I’ll respond to any/all comments in the morning :3)
Ao3 link if you wanna give this kudos over there! I would greatly appreciate it!

broken down aether
this came in as an intrusive thought while i was rereading my horny aether drabble and now i’m upset abt it.
this is gonna be pretty short since the thought came and left, like when you think of what you could have for dinner at like 9am ⭐️
Tumblr media
broken down aether, screaming at all the knights, shouting right at Jean for her disgustingly pathetic attempts at helping him find his sister.
broken down aether who immediately starts arguing with Lisa when she interjects, saying how all she did was give drawn out sympathy toward him and his situation
broken down aether, making Amber cry when she tried to calm him down, screaming at how pointless her role in the knights of favonius was.
broken down aether who stormed out in a huff, shouting obscenities at Albedo, Eula and Kaeya as they tried to convince him to stay, with Klee peeking out from Albedo’s workshop with Sucrose.
broken down aether who bumped right into you once he left the buliding, the two of you ending up on the floor and the sticky honey roast you had now ruined; you began to complain and he almost shouted at you but..
broken down aether paused… looking at you and realizing how much he just yelled and argued, how tired he was, how much his head hurt, how bad this throat hurt, how soft your thighs were, how you’d be a perfect pillow, just for a moment..
broken down aether who’s now laid out on your dress, making you panic and pull him toward you.
broken down aether who buries his face into your chest, sobbing uncontrollably about his situation, how much he wants to leave, how much he wanted his sister, how sorry he was.
broken down aether apologizing to everyone for his actions, being immediately forgiven and taken care of for his clear mental breakdown.
broken down aether finding himself on a soft cushioned blanket with you by his side, something you never failed to do and somewhere you never failed to be.
broken down aether, wiping the semi-dried tears from his face and kissing you for an apology, swearing that he’d make you another sticky honey roast

Am I crazy? To think we could happen?
(No Gender Specified)!Reader
➻ Childe, Zhongli, Aether, Heizou.
Warning(s): Violence, Mentions of Blood and Death, Sharp weapons and Stabbing. Not Proofread. (Gender might appear? on mistake)
Tumblr media
You only had two choices. It was, to be together or be known that you were once together. You thought you picked the first option, but destiny forbid it.
🌸Childe
Him as a member of the fatui was hard for him to be with you. Knowing he was a member of that dangerous organization means tons of enemies, and knowing that you're his one and only love, they could use you against him.
You were insane. You were such a brat and didn't listen to Tartaglia the first time he told you what could happen to both of you, especially you. He has no care in the world to what will happen to him, but to you, he cares like the whole universe could disappear if it only means to keep you safe.
He swore it. You promised you'd be okay. But you both lied. You both broke it. There you were, being used against the man to expose the biggest and latest plan of the fatui harbingers.
The guard who was holding you by your hair as your knees were on the rocky ground, smirked at Childe who was stood frozen infront of both of you. Knowing that the guards had strong spears and probably more weapons hiding around them made Childe stand steady.
He simply answered a no, quickly distracting the other guards with a big splash of water coming from his bow. Only to be met by your screams as he fell into the ground.
The spear the guard held was in your chest, it went through as your organ was at the top of the spear's head. Childe choked, he couldn't move as he felt his whole world fall apart. He felt tears rushing down his face as he kills the soldier infront of him.
Looking at the beating heart at the head of the monster's spear. How dare he? You were his only world.
You were still moving, Childe not accepting it as just muscle memory, he could see tears fall down your cheeks as he brushes it away. The blood on your cheeks getting wiped by his hands and the rain.
How could this happen to fast? Your future was easily ruined by a mere human beinv. And Childe could've done better.
You were still breathing despite your heart being out of your body.
"I-I'm so...crazy..." You said, feeling every inch of your body hurt. "We could've had a family, Ajax." Were your last words.
Childe screamed out your name, not even realizing how stupid he is for shaking you awake, to which you never will. He smiled slowly, closing his eyes as he hugged you.
He couldn't feel the pain of the sharp spear go through his chest as the pain of you dying already made his body numb.
"I love you, [Name]."
🌼 Zhongli
He knew.
He knew, yet you wanted to stay.
He knew, and you knew.
You both knew that you were going to die soon.
He is immortal, and you're a mortal. For many years he had seen the people he loved die. He experienced and felt pain from his lost. But this time he was losing you.
He was losing a person he knew he'd never see again, he knew that if you were gone, he swore to never love, again.
But you died too early. You were suppose to live a long happy life with him, your motto was always live life to the fullest yet you couldn't do that, yourself.
You felt like you betrayed him and yourself, the love of your life was carrying your cold body, his tears staining your cheek as the sun was starting to set.
He never felt so afraid and hurt, among the years he had experienced, you were his most painful feeling yet. You were the feeling of love and happiness, but right now you felt like sorrow.
You smiled as you put a hand on his cheek, wiping away a tear that was about to fall, but to no avail, tears kept falling and falling. And you were too weak to keep wiping.
"My dear...?" You spoke in a weak voice, smiling as you heard him respond. "Yes, my dearest...?"
You gave him a laugh, stopping after you felt the sharp pain in your stomach.
"Don't stop yourself from loving someone just because you already loved me. If they make you happier than I do, go for them! I'd be happy for you to let me go...I love you."
Your hand dropped as he froze in his place. "Since I'm a God myself, I will never forgive myself for not saving you. I'm so crazy for not saying I love you..."
🌹Aether
This was it, he was at his limit.
He lost his sister first, and now you. You were in the hands of his own sister. She sang a lullaby as your eyes closed, walking away to a portal before Paimon gained her vision, again.
Aether couldn't speak as he felt his mouth run dry, he was frozen, afraid, and had the urge to throw up. You weren't dead, right?
He ran up to you with Paimon flying behind, he shook your body softly before shaking it harshly, he called out your name before he lost his voice and broke down.
"I didn't get to say goodbye..." He cried, Paimon flying in silence, shaking from the scene infront of her. "[N-Name] just fainted, right?" Paimon asked, her flying starting to make herself dizzy.
"[Name]'s gone..." Aether spoke up but the fact he was denying your death drived him insane.
"I never got the chance to bring you home."
🍀 Heizou
After making eye contact with the culprit his eyes suddenly landed on you. Your stomach was cut by a katana, making you cough out the blood that tasted like metal.
Heizou sent the culprit flying before running to you. You gasped for air as Heizou tried to carry you. But you only winced in pain making him panic.
You were in an island, no one could help you now. Heizou never wanted this to happen, he should've gotten hurt, not you. He wished he never brought you here and wished you weren't hurt by the person who was wanted.
"[Name]...? You're okay right? Please stay with me." He pleaded, you laughed silently as you felt more blood coming out of the slash on your stomach.
"Heizou...My best detective crush." You spat out, making his eyes wide open. "C-crush?" He stuttered, holding your hand as tears came out of your eyes. "I thought we could happen." You admitted.
"But I guess work got ahead of us and stabbed me." You joked, making Heizou squeeze your hand tighter. "[Name], i-it's alright, you're okay, I can-"
"Heizou, I love you." You looked into his beautiful green eyes, which is filled with tears and guilt.
"I love you, too, partner."

Tumblr media
ft. xiao, aether
genre: angst
word count: 2.7k
major character death, blood and injury, xiao shows emotions, long build up
Hǫðr is a character I made up. :)
Tumblr media
The last battle in his quest to reunite with his twin, after this they could continue onto their next adventure traveling the stars. There would be no more meaningless quests to help people he's never met, no more playing this elaborate game of tag with his sister, no more sleepless nights, no more begging for his sister to return to him.
Though knowing the people he does now, could he really leave and forget them all? Paimon who's been with him since he awoke, Amber the first one to try to help him find his sister, Venti the first Archon he met, Childe who gave him one of his hardest fights yet, Zhongli who taught him much of his regions culture, Ei who he helped see the light once more, Xiao who promised to always come when called.
He had met so many people in his time traversing the seven regions of Teyvat and so many of them would forever be lodged in his memories. Was he really ready to leave them all behind, leave him behind?
Xiao was the only person to give to him without expecting anything in return. What others saw in Aether as strength, Xiao saw a friend.
It was laughable, he was going into what could possibly be the biggest battle of his life yet, he was thinking of a boy he hadn't seen in months.
“Paimon thinks you should reconsider! Paimon would hate it if traveler got hurt!" Aether brushed her off, continuing his walk down the starry corridor. This was the last obstacle to reunite with his sister, he had to continue, or his entire journey would have been for nothing.
As he walked through the doorway at the end of the hall, he observed his surroundings, dull blade at the ready. There were what seemed like asteroids floating around, the windows opening up to the starry night sky, with a small layer of water pooled around his ankles.
"Hǫðr! Show yourself you coward!"
He heard a maniacal giggle echo around the room, and he scanned his surroundings once more for the source. His eyes set on his opponent’s figure, Hǫðr was slightly bent forward his curved twin blades angled behind him ready to rush at the blonde male.
Aether brought his blade in front of him preparing to deflect the opposing male. Hǫðr was wearing the typical clothing of what was once Khaenri’ah now more commonly known as the Abyss Order. His hair was pure white as the stars in the sky, matching the starry pupils of his black eyes.
“We meet again, Aether.” Black eyes snapped up to meet with gold. Aether couldn’t stop his body from flinching under the pure malice of the snowy haired male. Paimon shrieked cowering behind the blond peaking over his shoulder.
“Hǫðr, tell me where my sister is!”
Hǫðr laughed. “You think she wants to see you! Your sister has long given up on you and this twisted world! You are beneath her! Her majesty reigns supreme! I’ll tell her location… but only if you defeat me!” He was borderline insane and there was a clear power difference between the two males.
When had power differences ever hindered the blond? He always came out on top. Aether narrowed his eyes, “Paimon, go hide.”
Aether wouldn’t regret if he was killed in this battle, but he would forever hate himself if he was the cause for his closest companion's death.
“Well then Hǫðr, take your best shot,” The blonde smirked.
The only way to fight madness was with madness.
Hǫðr released a loud laugh before dashing forward. Aether met his blades with his own. The resounding clash of metal ringing through the room, the males moving at such a fast speed that Paimon could not follow.
She could only cower behind the stone pillar and watch the blurs clash hoping that her golden companion would come out on top.
Aether was fast but Hǫðr was faster.
Aether was strong but Hǫðr was stronger.
One thing Hǫðr could not beat Aether in was his resolve.
Aether would not give up until he could hold his sister in his arms again, until they could travel under the stars once more, until they could finally be family again.
Hǫðr as the Abyss Princess’ right hand was simply following orders, “do not make it easy for him, if my brother cannot beat you, he is not worthy to reunite.” Those were the princess’ words.
Hǫðr jumped back from Aether’s blade and as his feet met the pillar, he used the momentum to spin and push himself towards the blonde. He brought one of his blades down on Aether’s taking the other and slashing at his side.
Aether growled bringing a leg between them to kick the male back. Hǫðr hit a stone pillar the rock cracking under the force as the white-haired male slid to the ground.
Aether clutched his side hissing as the blood seeped out and down his toned stomach. He clenched his teeth as he brought his hand away from the deep gash shaking the blood off his fingers.
Hǫðr was back on his feet and rushing the blonde again, Aether wasted no time immediately pushing off his feet and sprinting at him.
They clashed Hǫðr bent backwards twin blades flipped up as Aether pushed his blade down against his.
Hǫðr kicked the male back in a quick motion flipping backwards to escape the blond. Aether winced as Hǫðr’s foot met his open wound drawing back in a defensive manner.
Hǫðr sprinted at the blonde again trying to break through his defenses. One of his blades met with the blond’s leg ripping through the fabric and drawing blood.
Aether flinched swinging his sword at the other male forcing his opponent back.
Aether was struggling to keep up and as the two continued to exchange contacts, he grew slower and slower.
The blood loss from the wounds adorning his body was slowly getting to him.
He was damp with sweat, his eyes hooded, and despite the adrenaline pumping through him he felt cold.
His vision and hearing were blurry so as he fell to the floor Hǫðr slowly walking over him he couldn’t make up the words Paimon was screaming.
He could hear her desperation, but he could not hear her.
Paimon was in panic, she could not find a solution to the current moment. She was powerless against the beast that has brought even the mightiest traveler to their knees.
She did the only thing that could come to mind, remembering the promise that was made to the traveler all those years ago.
“Xiao!”
. . .
“Xiao please!”
. . .
“Xiao the traveler needs you!”
Aether was trying to focus on Paimon’s words. He needed to know what she was saying. The ringing slowly died down and he was able to make out what his floating companion was saying although the words were fuzzy and quiet.
“Xiao, please! Aether’s dying!”
His ears finally cleared, and he could hear the sobs coursing through her, and he coughed spitting out the blood collecting in his mouth as Hǫðr stared down at him.
“Aether hold on! I’ll find help I promise!” He softly smiled as he watched his companion leave. At least she would be safe.
“Oh no… it seems I’ve broken you.” Hǫðr looked down in mock sadness. “I wasn’t supposed to kill you… awe man the princess is going to kill me.” He pouted body sinking into itself. He hissed as he felt the weight out his injures not hitting him. Although his weren’t as worse as the blond’s.
Aether tried speaking mouth moving but no words coming out. “Oh! Come on, let’s hear the mighty traveler’s last words!” Aether spat the blood he just coughed up onto the male's feet.
Hǫðr grimaced at the red soaking his white boots. He was ready to ridicule the male however paused as the blond opened his mouth once more.
“Xi…ao…” It was weak and said through deep breaths of pain but the adeptus although regions away heard it.
“Xiao? Awe man, I thought you’d have some cool last words. What the hell is Xiao.” The Abyss solider pouted rolling his eyes in disappointment.
“Me.”
The white-haired male perked up at the voice, turning around to hopefully lock eyes him the voices owner only to be met with what seemed to be a demon mask.
At the smallest call of his name from his blond he rushed right to him. He was expecting a happy reunion but the sight he had laid eyes on was not a happy one.
The blond male that he had grown to trust, and love was laying before his eyes in a pool of this own blood.
The gold eyes that always shone with such life and happiness in the adeptus’ presence were now dulled and cloudy as the life slowly seeped out of his best friend… out of his lover…
After the deaths of his fellow yaksha, the green-haired male closed himself off. He devoted himself into his responsibilities protecting the people of Liyue.
Even as his karmic debt weighed heavily and threatened to break him, he did not falter. He pushed through life, and he hid himself from the world refusing to go through more grief and strife due to getting attached to someone that would only leave him once more.
However, when the blond traveler entered Liyue he couldn’t stop himself from getting attached. Aether had broken down all of his walls and the adeptus let him.
No matter how much Xiao complained about him forcing his way into his life, both him and Aether knew that Xiao was thankful someone cared about him enough to try.
So now seeing the man that he had learned to love with all his heart slowly dying beneath who he could only see as a maniac he felt betrayed.
Aether promised to never leave him, he promised…
The mask on his faced served another purpose in that room. While usually he used it to harness his fully power, tonight it would be used to hide the tears continuously flowing down his face.
He would not need his full power to end the male that stood above his Aether, his raw emotions would be enough.
The smile playing on Hǫðr’s face dropped in an instance. Stifled by the pure and utter enmity flowing of his newfound opponent in waves.
Hǫðr wanted to run, he had never wished to flee from a battle before and the fact that now in the presence of the short male he wanted to run terrified him.
“I’ll kill you.” There were no emotions shone in the yaksha’s voice. After centuries, he knew how to hide his emotions well.
Hǫðr fully believed the masked man would.
Before he could even speak, before he could even hope to run a glowing green spear was lodged in his chest.
Xiao pushed on the end of his weapon relishing in the audible cracks of the man’s sternum, a smile grew under his mask as he felt the tip of his spear reach the man's heart.
The abyssal solider had a pleading look on his face, never did Hǫðr think that he a man on par with gods in his eyes would die in this way.
Xiao felt his blade puncture the man's heart and he placed him foot beside where his blade lay in the male's chest applying pressure to force the man to his knees and give him leverage to pull his spear from his chest.
Xiao felt a rush of joy wash over him as the man’s blood splattered against his mask.
Hǫðr coughed choking on his own blood as he fell to his side. He knew he would not last long before the blood loss crept up on him and slowly killed him.
He could not help but think of the demon man as a monster for leaving him to die a slow and painful death but in Xiao’s eyes he deserved worse.
Aether released a breath of relief watching as Xiao defeated the male.
Xiao’s attention was immediately on the traveler as his ears picked up the sound. He fell to his knees beside him bringing his head onto his lap hugging him close to his chest.
“Xiao. . .”
“Nuh-uh don’t speak. I’ll get you out of here, save your energy.”
“Xiao. . . Please. . .” Xiao knew what the male was implying but he refused to accept it. He refused to accept that the blonde would die here.
“Please don’t die on me my prince. You’re all I have left.”
Aether could only give him a soft smile leaning into his embrace and basking in the use of the pet name Xiao only used on special occasions.
“Y. . . You promise me.” Aether’s heart broke at the sound of his voice.
“My love… I…I’m sorry.” Aether weakly reached to place his hand over Xiao’s mask. The mask immediately dissolved, and Xiao’s hand came up to hold Aether’s wrist as he leaned into his hand.
“Don’t. . . Don’t cry. You’re so…so beautiful my love. . .” Aether ignored the pounding of his wounds focusing solely on his lover’s face. Xiao’s eyes which usually held a cold stoic gaze were sadden and rimmed with tears.
“How can you ask me not to cry while you die in my arms,” Xiao scoffed but the sound didn’t hold the same weight it usually did, the sound came out broken and soft.
That was how Xiao felt in the moment, broken and soft.
“I. . . lov-“
“Don’t. . . you dare say you love me right now.” He sobbed.
Aether’s gaze softened showing his love through his teary cloudy eyes. Xiao wasn’t sure he would be able to live on if the blond told him that he loved him at that moment.
Aether brought his thumb to the male's lips. Xiao clenched his jaw placing a kiss against the other male’s thumb.
“I love you.”
“No, you idiot. . . Stop. . . stop acting like you’re going to die. . .”
Aether smiled softly struggling to keep his eyes open. He could feel his conscious slipping, he could feel himself falling into the abyss.
“You. . . You can’t leave me.” Xiao’s last word was strained as he held back a sob.
“I love you, you idiot.”
The smile on Aether face grew just a bit bigger and he allowed himself to fall into the abyss as he laid in his lover's arms.
Xiao felt him go limp in his arms and he could feel his breaths slowly growing slower and slower until the blond’s chest rose and fell for the last time.
It may have been months since they last saw each other, their bond was still as strong as ever and even though the traveler would not wake again their bond would not weaken. Xiao would never forget the blond traveler he saw as the love of his life.
The blonde traveler that taught Xiao to accept affection and love again.
The blonde traveler that held him in his arms and allowed him to release all his pain through tears as his past experiences caught up to him.
The blonde traveler who now laid dead in his arms.
“Sleep well my prince. . .”
Paimon finally returned with help; however, she was too late and that would weigh on her forever.
Xiao looked up at her and Paimon was stopped dead in her tracks by the look on the adeptus’ face.
“I’m sorry.”
