Hey, hey! First off, let me just say that I’m so glad you like the fic enough to ask about it and I know too well how much it sucks when you’re patiently waiting to read more of something and it just ... never updates. So I definitely apologize for that, anon. I’m the actual worst.

Second, there are actually two main factors that are putting the brakes on Ask and You Shall Receive right now. One is that I’m so far behind on the anime that it’s not even funny and it’s real hard for me to get into the mood. The other is that I’ve so completely switched to second person perspective that trying to write in first is hard. Like, impossibly hard. I started on AaYSR when I was still sort of making the transition over to second person and since I’d written the prequel, Ice Breaker, in first person I figured I might as well stick with that narrative. I didn’t realize how hard it would be to kind of switch between the two though and I can assure you that if (when) I ever write for Black Clover again, even if it’s within the same continuity I’ve already established, the perspective will without a doubt be in second person.

What does that mean for AaYSR? I do plan on finishing it one day. The final chapter is sitting half finished in my documents so it’s not as if I haven’t started on it at all. It’s just a matter of motivation and finding the time. It’s a LONG fic already and the conclusion will probably be the longest installment by far which means lots and lots of time working on it. If it makes you feel any better though, once I finally get around to catching up on the anime (or reading the manga, which is definitely in the cards) that will more than likely give me the spark to sit down and finish it up so all hope is not lost.

Ask and You Shall Receive || Jason and Annie

Annie half-skipped to the Room of Requirement, excited for her first real date with Jason. It wasn't anything inherently romantic, considering they were just baking cheesecake together, but she knew that they would have fun regardless. The two had decided not to jump into anything serious right away, so the decision to bake together calmed Annie's nerves a bit. There wasn't any pressure. It wasn't like going to dinner, where awkward gaps in conversation were almost mandatory. No, there were always instructions to be given, things to do. Annie didn't exactly understand what was wrong with silence when it came to being with people. Sure, there was time for talking, but sometimes it was just nice to be comfortable with someone without having to fill the air with meaningless words and small talk.

Annie climbed the grand staircase leading to the seventh floor corridor. This staircase was strange, as it was one of the few she knew of in the castle that didn't move. There was no sentience to it, which made her feel oddly out of place. The low rumbling of marble moving beneath her feet was replaced only with an unsettling silence. Annie peered into the room, making sure that no one was already in there; the Room of Requirement was a surprisingly popular place for dates. She was glad to find that the room was unoccupied.

The Room of Requirement had always astounded her. It had the uncanny ability to conjure up things on a whim when people needed them, provided that Gamp's Law was followed. Even magic had its limitations. After washing her hands, Annie sat down and straightened her skirt. Today was one of the rare days when she decided to put effort into her appearance. Her hair was up in a ponytail with a few unruly pieces of fringe down by her ears. The windows revealed the heavy layer of snow that had fallen yesterday, which reminded Annie that winter holidays were right around the corner. The thought of going home was rather daunting, and she pushed it far into the back of her mind. Annie tried to focus on the book she had brought, Catch-22, at least until Jason arrived.
