𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓗𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓬𝓪𝓷𝓸𝓷𝓼- 𝖕𝖆𝖗𝖙 3
Part 3! We finally get to Wars, Sky, and Wind! WIND IS PLATONIC ONLY DON'T BE GROSS
Warnings: possible suggestive themes (AGAIN NOT FOR WIND), angst, mental health topics, scars/wounds
⋆。°✩
𝖜𝖆𝖗𝖗𝖎𝖔𝖗𝖘
21-22 years old, one of the captain's of the Hylian Army. Zelda offered him a higher rank (general I'm assuming) and a position on the Hylian Council, but he refused almost right away.
Pretty tall, an inch above Twilight, but still shorter than Time
Blonde hair, shaggy but in a fashionable way. Idk y'all, he makes it work
Leaner muscle, double pierced lobes, wears chain linked earrings when at fromal events but usually sticks to his signature blue hoops
Can't read Hylian that well, but can understand/speak several languages, such as Twili (Twi is kinda jealous)
The strategist of the group. He was always under a time limit during the war, so he knows how to handle a tricky situation quickly and efficiently most of the time
Went to school in his developmental years, though was recruited at around 14-15 because he was way better in the fighting field than in academics. It worked out for him though, so he's not complaining.
As much as he cares about appearance and fighting for his country, he hates balls/formal events. The fake interactions and smiles make him sweat and he usually leaves an hour into them. He'll suck it up if you're there with him though
Closest to Time, Wild and Legend ironically enough. Wild and himself can relate on the aspect of being in the Hylian army, and they typically talk about how their experience was. Legend and him mostly bicker, but its all fun n' games. Time and Wars are essentially the higher-ups, though nobody actually says that, its just been silently established.
Super wary of Y/n, especially with his expriences with other dimensions and eras. He was honestly convinced you were part of Cia's plan or the shadow, since your timing seemed a little convenient, but you've gained his trust little by little, maybe a little too much.
Unlike his usual demeanor with women, he doesn't outwardly flirt with our protagonist. Yes, he throws a few quips here and there when appropriate, but he respects Y/n. He doesn't see them as everyone else. He has them on a pedestal towering over everyone
Has scars from the war, duh. He was mostly up close in the front lines, so a lot of slashes and nicks. Has a pretty bad burn on his left arm from Volga's fire, it's healed but still pretty scarred on his skin.
𝖘𝖐𝖞
20-21 years old, the "Chosen One".
Average height, light freckles across his face and shoulders, he was living right under the sun, you can't tell me he doesn't have freckles!!
Also... sleeper build. I said it. He has a sleeper build and boy when Y/n first sees him shirtless?? AWOOGA-
I headcanon him as having a gigantic triforce insignia tattoo all over his upper back. It was part of his ceremonial return, more on that later.
Suprisingly very school smart for falling asleep in class all the time. Sun was and still is very jealous of his natural smarts.
Has his lobes pierced, wears small red hoops. He wants to get more stacked piercings, a loftwing feather to match with Y/n in the future, who knows?
Doesn't have the biggest sweetest tooth, but he does love pastires of almost any kind. Pumpkin ones are his favorites, though Y/n's cinnamon rolls are quickly climbing up the ladder.
One of the most conflicted about Hylia and the whole "following the goddess" thing. He s=has insomnia because of it, causes him a lot of anxiety.
He was very depressed after his journey was finished, as he didn't identify as anything else besides a hero, and since his purpose was completed, he was nobody.
Struggled a lot with isolation and self-deprecation right up until joining the Chain. He still struggles with it, despite it being years later.
After meeting you and learning about your similar struggles of identity and burden's of mental health, he felt so much less lonely. Sure the Chain were his brothers and they knew what he had been through, you really understood him. You went through the same thing, you knew what it felt like.
Close to Hyrule and Four, but probably most attached to Y/n, even before the romantic feelings set in. He's got a big heart.
Biggest sleepyhead. Will sleep almost anywhere, especially if he's exhausted.
Hobbies include woodworking and playing his harp, but recently took up making a piece of jewelry for Y/n. He's been working on it for months, adventuring prevents him from working on it too long. He wants to give it to you during the winter festival, when you're all his.
𝖜𝖎𝖓𝖉
little shit
...
I would say I'm kidding, but he is :3
around 13 I wanna say, it's only been about a year since his adventure.
Short, duh, but his growth spurt is kicking in. He's catching up to Y/n, and you are not excited to be the shortest in a few years.
Sandy blonde hair, a bit wavy. Somehow always has a tiny bit of sand in it, no matter how many times he washes his hair.
If you think Twi or Hyrule had the biggest sweet tooth? HELL NO
If Wind ever found out about energy drinks or soda/pop, we're done for
Not the best in terms of speaking and reading Hylian, though being a pirate has helped him develop his own colorful vocabulary
Very skilled with up close combat, though the others hardly ever let him be on the front offensive
Similar to Wild, likes taking pics of anything (mostly weird faces that the others make)
Y/n and him clicked INSTANTLY. He might've not trusted them immediately, but they were best friends super fast. Wind has helped you get through homesickness by tellng you his own stories about his home.
"Captain" of Tetra's ship, or that's what he believes
Everyone knows Tetra's in charge though
Struggles a bit with alcoholism, being a pirate and all kinda leads you to be reliant on alcohol. The boys are trying to help him with it, but its the main coping skills he uses when after a high stress situation or he's feeling lost mentally.
Everyone sees him as a little brother, despite how much of a little shit he is >:3c

First chapter of my series, I think, from Linked universe x reader
But first of all, I'll list a few things here
All Linked Universe characters are romantic partners
But one thing before reading the story!
Here you will be a girl, want to make this gender change fit into the story, as well as:
You are a heroine of your hyrule (I'll leave the stories to you) but you don't have the spirit of courage!
Your link is a prince! So he has two sides, being the son of Zelda, the triforce of courage and wisdom .
You will be a closed person at the beginning, because you are not intimate with the current, then only later will you show yourself
That's why, and my English isn't perfect! So, good luck

𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕿𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖊𝖊 𝕻𝖗𝖔𝖒𝖎𝖘𝖊𝖘 𝖔𝖋 𝖆 𝕳𝖊𝖗𝖔(𝖎𝖓𝖊) 𝔈𝔭.01
"I see it now... looking like death itself, that's what I see... it's not a gaze I saw in ancient heroes, no!... This is a look of pure rage, no, it's not that!... it's as if she simply has not a shred of mercy or kindness in her face, this gaze isn't of a brave hero as it has been in many years and reincarnations, no!... This gaze is that of a killer..."
The kingdom of Hyrule was thriving, having recovered from all the chaos it endured. Villages and markets were bustling once again, and all the realms lived happily, reminiscent of their best times. Queen Zelda was currently preparing to pass her throne to her heir, her son. It would take a while since she planned to hand over the crown on his 20th birthday—a day you wouldn't want to miss, as it also marks the birthday of your only friend.
Unfortunately, you don't know how you can return. As you look around, you see those who call themselves heroes engrossed in their tasks. You move about, not quite remembering how you ended up there, surrounded by a bunch of blonde boys from different timelines. Despite being accustomed to being in a place full of men and even training with them, it feels like you don't belong to that group.
Everyone there is a hero, with stories, swords, and the soul of a hero—brave, something you're not. Sure, you saved your Hyrule, but that was because you were the last one standing in that shattered land. You had to do something; the land was in peril, your friend was in danger, and you couldn't let him go with it, not after you promised. You're just a mere key, lacking the soul of heroism, without a side of the Triforce like everyone else, not even a tattoo on the back of your hand.
"Hey! (Name), right?" Turning your head, leaning against a tree, you look to the side and see a boy of shorter stature compared to you, dressed in blue and carrying a compass or something similar.
"...yes?" Your voice sounds somewhat flat and even a bit cold, but you can't help it, not when you've been with them for less than a day.
"Well, Wild wants me to grab some things. Would you like to help?" He seems nervous, you can tell by his way of speaking and posture. Stepping away from the trunk, you simply nod your head, following the boy as he enters the forest.
Wind occasionally glanced at you, walking a bit slower as he began to walk beside you. He couldn't help but notice the two covered sword sheaths on your back, but he refrained from asking, aware it might be intrusive.
"Ah... what was your Hyrule like?" The boy attempted to start a conversation, nervous and unable to discern whether you were angry or something else. With a closed appearance, your expression remained unreadable, and he couldn't quite gauge your feelings, likely because you hadn't fully acclimated to them.
"Normal..." You speak in a voice that's somewhat normal, though low, not quite a whisper. Wind frowned, and you maintain your gaze forward. Clearly, you were a Hyrulian, given your pointed ears, but Wind couldn't quite determine if you hailed from a different Hyrule. Simultaneously, your clothing was and wasn't that of a hero; he couldn't quite figure out what you were.
"Ah... I see." Wind then averted his gaze, noticing a bush of fruits. He motioned for you to follow as he approached the bush.
"These fruits look edible, don't they?" He asked while picking one up and examining it. Unbeknownst to him, you also grabbed one, sniffing it. Detecting no strange odor, just a sweet scent like edible fruits, you opened your mouth and took a bite.
"Maybe someone knows what fruit this is. I think we should check other things before—" Wind glanced to the side, watching you grab a cloth bag and fill it with fruits. "Carry...? Don't you think it might be poisonous?" He said while observing you take one and eat it. You shook your head in denial, handing one to the boy, who looked somewhat scared and suspicious.
"They're not poisonous. The leaves are like any other, they smell sweet, and despite their appearance, they're sweet." You spoke while looking at the fruits and collecting them. Glancing back at Wind, who had a bead of sweat on his face, even though his expression was somewhat stoic, you saw that you were looking at him, expecting something. Not knowing what to do, Wind sighed before cautiously biting into the fruit and realizing they were indeed sweet.
Rising, you took the two cloth bags filled with fruit and placed them in the side bag you carried. Wind observed as you looked up.
"Did Wild ask for something specific?" You looked at Wind, awaiting a response."Ah... no! He just asked me to see if I could find something, maybe mushrooms!" He nervously explained, eliciting a noise of understanding from you. You walked ahead, and the boy hurried to catch up. He watched as you, a bit further ahead, handed a fruit to a white rabbit. Upon spotting Wind, the rabbit darted away with the fruit. He observed as you stood up from your crouched position and continued walking.
"B-well! How are you feeling?" Trying to initiate another conversation, he was met with a buzz.
"Normal..." He only realized he had returned to the camp when he heard the others talking. He paused, still confused about the entire situation, and walked over to Wild along with you. You handed over the bag filled with fruits, mushrooms, and plants, along with a large water container.
"When did she get this that I didn't see?" Wild didn't even have time to react and say thank you before you left and returned to your place leaning against a tree, gazing into the forest, never at the others. Wild looked at Wind, who just shrugged and sat down with him.
"Anything?" Wild asked as he opened the bag, examining its contents and grabbing a fruit. "Nothing, b-but she said these fruits are good!"
"Of course they're good!" Wild said as if it were obvious, starting to cut the mushrooms he had. From a distance, Time observed as the girl gazed into the forest, appearing thoughtful. Sky looked at Time, beside him, and also observed the girl.
"What do you think they have?" Sky asked, looking at Time, who had a stern look, sighing as he cleaned his sword.
"I think they're just not at ease. They've just left their home; let her get used to it gradually." With that, they both put the matter aside. Fiddling with your belt, where the two covered sword sheaths were, you felt a twinkle and sensed the small gift you carried.
"It's okay..."

Wild's apology
Since I really love proper apologies and taking account for actions, I MUST rant about Wild's apology because there are so many details making it... good. Just good.
First panel face, he looks uncertain. Hyrule said the little guy wanted to talk to him, but he doesn't know if it's only one little guy
We have the best opening line we all love, hoping he can imitate Zelda's diplomacy. Wild did not- his apologizing varied wildly from Zelda's, and I think that's a really good thing
Tumblr media
His Zelda's diplomacy is a royal style, seen in totk memories. When diplomatic, she uses formal words and straight posture, with her hands at her side or clasped in front. She doesn't need to say it's formal, since that's assumed. Wild did not imitate her exact style, but he kept the end goal of peace.
This whole first panel with him showing such tension, hoping with all his might it goes well, resolving to act the best he can to fix it... yes
There's something really telling about Wild's face walking in. He looks angry. With everything we've seen of his actions after twilight was injured, it's clear by now that when Wild's scared, it comes out as anger. All the previous yelling was because he was scared.
Since Wild's face looks angry walking in, after deciding to imitate diplomacy? I think he was terrified.
Tumblr media
One thing I love watching in people is how much the smallest body parts can show their thoughts. Hands can tell a lot about how someone's feeling. When Wild starts talking to Four, his hands show he's being open.
Tumblr media
Arms down at his side, palms up and hand reaching out. That hand and arm position shows vulnerability- he's literally opening his body to be open in his words and feelings.
And he's says "I know why you wanted to see me", which, well
Tumblr media
lol
Still, he came in immediately speaking to work to patch things up. The words "I'm ashamed"... admitting you're wrong is hard. Even harder is discussing the feelings that come with it.
Moving on, Wild's moving ahead to apologizing.
Wild is not royalty, and neither is four. Truly imitating Zelda's diplomacy with royal posture and attitude would have been weird. What they are is warriors, comrades who win battles together. And four works with the captain, who certainly sets an example of military respect. This is where him not exactly imitating Zelda's diplomacy is better, since he is not a princess.
He's a soldier in this moment. We don't know how much he remembers of his initial knighthood, but his soldier diplomacy kicked in here. He's basically standing at attention in the side view. Four is much shorter than him, but his straight posture and forward facing head (not looking down) shows absolute respect regardless of height. He outright states it's a formal apology.
Tumblr media
Awesome. It's not polished or perfect, there was a pause before the rather awkwardly phrased statement about initiating. But awkwardness makes it real. His face still looks fairly angry here! I still interpret it as fear.
His hands are straight at his side, then formally on his chest. He can't be the perfect knight anymore- instead he's awkward and unpolished. But he's doing diplomacy the best he knows how, even if four absolutely did not care about a formal tone.
Moving on! Four's listening.
Wild loosens up here. There's only so long our wild child can be formal, so he's not unnaturally pausing and trying to phrase things formally anymore
Hand placement: the hand behind the head is the Link pose we all know, where apparently it's a part of the hero's spirit when feeling awkward.
His hand goes from behind his head to held up in the air when saying "look, I'm sorry for shoving ya" I honestly like to think of this as pulling the apology from behind his head lol. Thinking for words "now where did I put that apology?" Finds it and holds it up "look! I'm sorry. It was just in the back of my mind."
Tumblr media
His hand then goes down to his side, and he's open again. Palm out, he's putting him out there.
His word choice matters. "ya"
"Honestly, that warranted an all out brawl" ... good. He's saying his actions were wrong- that he deserved anger towards him. Saying "all out brawl" validates fours actions. It warranted an all out brawl... that says that to wild, what four did was ok. All of it sucked, but it's ok.
My favourite line. "Thanks for going easy on me." It's important in so many ways for humility, showing respect, and how four could have done more, blah blah blah anyways I like it because I can imagine he says that and then the purple part of four just grins like "yeah I totally could have beat you up glad we're clear on that". I mean Four has done nothing but manically cackle when someone mentions his secret, so I think he probably had a devilish grin inside when Wild said thanks for going easy on me.
It's an apology and it's awkward! Awkward pauses, awkward faces. Hand behind the head, "ya". It was awkward. He kept going, showed sincerity. He struggled ahead, forging his way through (no pun intended), because it. Matters. To. Him. Being a person who can take responsibility is great and he cares about it. But the real reason is because four matters to him, and they have come so far. The amount of care it takes to just keep going until it's resolved shows a gold heart.
There's one of my favourite parallels between this update and a previous one in his explanation after apology. In his explanations... his face is the same.
Tumblr media
And this gets me so much. Look at this guy and his past. He was a perfect silent knight. Losing his cool or expressing emotion or fears was not even an option. And now he can mess up- which is terrifying. But look at how vulnerable his face is, how much he's allowing himself to feel in order to properly express his want to fix things.
And then he offers four his hand. If offering someone your hand and taking it isn't the sincerest form of love... this is so sweet. His face is so open, really wanting to (re)connect with four.
Tumblr media
They shake hands and the apologies are over, they move on to shiny metal. "Oh."
And overall this is incredible. People can admit they're wrong and apologize, anyone can say words. But to have facial expressions, posture all the way to hands, and connotations of words all showing honest sincerity is far more than most can ever hope for.
There's my favourite parallel in the progression in this update, the two times they took hands.
The first time is Wild offering his hand after apologizing, and this is where we get the last remnants of a formal soldier apology. Standing straight, arms straight towards each other.
Later on they take hands again, this time as friends connecting beyond making up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...
Making mistakes and hurting people doesn't make someone unlovable. Working to fix your mistakes makes someone lovely.

How Short is SR Link?
This question spawned after I went searching through the Sacred Ream page(all made by @zelda-the-sacred-realm) and I saw a picture of Realms(?) standing next to Wild and went “HOW SHORT OS THIS MAN???”
So, as stated before, all art credit goes to @zelda-the-sacred-realm
Also, this entire post is a joke. Please, for the love of god, don’t take it seriously💀💀💀
This guy is S H O R T. Short king, if you will.
1st piece of evidence?
Tumblr media
See here, Realms is slightly bent over, yes, but you can still see a difference.
I gave a measurement of how he is slouched and an estimate of him standing straight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both of which still make him look tiny…?
Not only that, but Wild is behind Realms. Which, if that one yellow chair perspective trick from Brain Games taught me right, that means that he should seem shorter than the nearer figure, but maybe this doesn’t work because they’re so close
So then that means that it’s time to dig deeper, right? Well good ol’ Google says:
Tumblr media
No, I didn’t feel like reading through articles, I’m not Matpat, HOWEVER, hypothetically, if Wild stopped growing after Breath of the Wild, that means that Wild, according to Screen Rant, is somewhere between 4’11 and 5’2…
That means that Realms is probably in the 4 foot threshold
BUT THATS ONLY A HYPOTHETICALLY-
WE DONT KNOW IF WILD GREW MORE…right?
WRONG. HE DID.
(Picture taken from this)
Tumblr media
Here, Wild is being yanked by Time. So, reasonably, he is on slippery footing, basically tilting, only the chain keeping him from falling
And here’s my estimate
Tumblr media
Far fetched? I know, but hear me out-
Wild didn’t stop growing. This is because Wild is still technically 17 in BotW. A male is expected to stop growing at around 21.
So, if Wild grew tall enough to be Time’s height-
Your wrong
What?
You’re like…so wrong
Proof?
We’ve already gotten a comparison between Time and Link, why not just use that?
…what comparison?
…this one (from this)
Tumblr media
…DAMN HE’S SHORT-
I thought we already knew this?
GET OUT OF MY STUDIO
Stop edging everyone and get to the point then.
…ANYWAY that is at least a foot difference between Link and Time, but here’s another clashing factor-
The Hero’s Shade
…yeah, the Hero’s Shade. If this Time is as Tall as the Hero’s Shade then
Tumblr media
Thank you Kerest, I didn’t feel like doing real diving😌
So if this Time is 6’5…Link just might not be as short as a short king
So now we’re back to square one.
How Tall is Sacred Realm Link?
He’s 5’5 btw
Tumblr media

Zelmo! Congrats on 500! I have a story request if your interested!
The shrine of resurrection made Link just a lil bit taller. Link thinks it has to be a huge difference and he's very proud and excited for zelda to notice the change! Link creates all kinds of situations to get zelda to notice, but she just doesn't... 😆
Thank you Rezi and big sorry for the long wait! This one is longer because I wrote it in case we needed a pinch-hitter for a zelink community event. It's obviously a crack fic, we all know that Link is shorter than Zelda.
A little on the short side
Link lifted a rock, peeking at the rectangular object underneath.
"Ze—" he started, but then he frowned at the lettering and wiped the grime away with his palm.
"Short people stink" stood on the withered sign. Why would anyone— oh. Oh!
His skin tingled and the familiar feeling of remembering something crept over his back.
The memory started with… the King. He inspected a display board with technical drawings. Link stood guard, as per usual. There, Zelda joined them, pinning more drawings on the board. She explained and explained, her father nodding along. And then she pinned a sign on the board, directly in front of Link. A wicked grin was shot his way and a blush rose on his face. Short people stink, written in Sheikah, so that her father couldn't read it but he could. Standing on tiptoes, Link grabbed for the sign, but it was just out of reach. The memory faded to black with the King asking if something was wrong and Zelda's shit-eating grin.
"Link? Did you find something?" The real Zelda shouted from the other side of the ruins of the Royal Lab.
He pocketed the sign. "No, no. Just a minor memory."
She hummed. "Tell me later?"
"Sure."
This… wasn't the only time she had teased him for his height, right? He dug deeper into his fractured memories. Didn't she use his shoulder as an armrest and kept asking "How is the weather down there?" He closed his eyes, a familiar weight pressing onto his shoulder. Oh, yes, she did.
But… he glanced over to her, frowning. He stood up and closed the distance.
"Oh, hi!" She greeted him, wiping her hands on her pants. "Anything of interest? I only have a handful of screws."
Chuckling, he shook his head, and rested his hands on her hips. "Just missed my girlfriend."
"Ahhh," she cooed, her lips lifting into the smile he went to the end of the world for.
Her forehead rested against his and… He unmistakably gazed down into her eyes.
Hm. Maybe he had just grown on his quest? But now that he thought about it, his first clothes had been awfully short. Could…the shrine do that?!
He pressed a kiss to her lips to hide the ever-growing grin on his own.
So, short people stink, huh?
***
She just wouldn't notice. He tried everything. Her favorite books went up onto the top of the shelf, and in the kitchen, he offered ingredients from the highest cupboard. He made her stand on a rock when they took selfies. He even lifted her chin up to kiss her!
Nothing!
He was the one with the memory loss! How could she forget about one of the main reasons for teasing him?
He needed a better plan. Luckily, Purah once again making fun of him for believing she would repair the slate for free, and Symin charging horrendous prices for his missing pictures, gave him the right idea…
Purah's lab was a crowded, messy place with thousands of papers scattered around and that suited Link's plan quite nicely. His role had long outgrown the simple task of standing guard; He was part of the team, working alongside Zelda (and Purah and Symin if he couldn't avoid it) to improve the slate.
"Ok…" Zelda stood in front of a giant display board, pointing at a sheet of paper. Link smirked at the parallels. "If we single this code out, we could improve the Magnesis rune so that we can extend the operating distance."
A little absent, Link hummed and fingered the item in his pack just to be sure it was still there. He said, "It's already quite wobbly at its max. I believe that we'll need some kind of stabilizer if we want to expand the distance even further."
"Stabilizer?" Purah cried, throwing her little hands in the air and whirling some papers around in the process. "Do you have any idea how complicated that would be? Or how expensive? Who is going to fund that, you?"
Well, probably yes, since he seemed to be the only one in Hyrule with a disposable income, but Link wasn't in the mood to argue. "I'm just stating facts. Try it yourself if you don't believe me." He handed her the slate, but not without the hint of an eye roll.
"Symin!"
"On my way, director."
Zelda gave Link a look and shrugged. "I wonder why I’ve even written a stack of reports about this problem."
"Let her see it with her own eyes." Link waited until Zelda had turned toward the door and pinned his little secret at the top of the display board.
It was hard to keep his giggles at bay outside. Purah went through several objects and distances, all while Symin took notes and Zelda tapped her foot.
Finally, Purah had enough and grumbled an affirmation at him, but Link's thoughts were at the display board. Not without smugness, he suggested, "Tea?" and they all went back inside.
It took two minutes and twenty-five seconds (he checked the slate) until Purah screamed, "Symin! What’s this?!"
She hopped up and down in front of the display board, trying and failing to reach an old sign saying, 'Short people stink.'
One final, failed attempt and she spun, screamed, and pointed her finger at Symin, before she chased him all the way down to Hateno. It was hard to keep a straight face at the sight, but Link hadn’t been called Silent Knight for nothing. It was only when Zelda narrowed her eyes at him and then also fruitlessly reached for the sign, that his struggle exploded into a snort. Arm up in the air, she grazed the edge of the sign with her fingertips, but couldn’t tear it down.
“Hero!”
Uh, oh, he was in trouble. Link grinned lopsidedly and sweeped her up in her arms so that she could take it off. She slid back down and finally, finally a realization dawned in her —uplooking— eyes. “When did that happen?” she hissed.
Link shrugged, grin growing. “In the shrine, I guess.”
“And I thought memory loss was the most severe side effect.”
“Ah, come on, it’s not that bad.”
She sighed and nudged her nose against his cheek. “Guess not. But you always had the perfect height for forehead kisses and now that opportunity is gone.”
Link tugged her closer and kissed her hairline. “But now you are the perfect height for a forehead kiss. Is that nothing?”
She hummed. “But now I stink.”
Link shook with suppressed laughter. “Well. Sometimes you can’t win, tiny Princess.”
On his run to their house he wasn’t sure what was worse — the kick she gave him against his kneecap or his stomach ache from doubling over with laughter.

The Power of Understanding / Cheat Sheet / FAQ
The Power of Understanding
Read on Tumblr / Read on Ao3
Time to find out why, who, what, where, when, and how exactly. More importantly, will there be NSFW?!!
Translator!Scholar!Isekai!Reader
Anything unclear? Let me know!
1) When is the story taking place?
It is taking place well into the adventures of the Chain. However, it is a non-linear story, so you "think" back to the times when you first met them. Most stories take place after the Twilight's near death arc. Basically you have been there with them. This is an AU of course.
2) When did you join them?
You first spent around two years with Link & Zelda in the post-calamity Hyrule, before being thrown in with the chain.
3) How did you speak with Link and Zelda?
You couldn't. You learnt their language later, it was a process. They took you to the four Great Fairies, and also used a drop of Triforce of Wisdom (via the fairy help) to enhance your learning and to make you more understandable to the others ASAP. This had however some long lasting, not so positive consequences. We'll dive into them in the "Wobble of the Head" arc. (coming soon)
4) Do you have an accent?
Hylian has dialects, so yes. You do have an accent, but it only appeared after you met the Chain, for obvious reasons. *Coughs* No spoilers, sorry.
5) How do the Links talk with each other?
Language change is a very very slow process, even in our world. Things like immigration, wars and other conflicts make it faster but even then it's very slow in most cases. World of TLoZ did have its fair share of conflicts, but mostly it was within the same cultures, so language didn't warp there to a point of becoming unrecognizable for most Links. Sure, some are harder for others to understand due to distance, accents, dialects and some vocabulary, but they can communicate mostly just fine after a while.
Wild however is from a very far era (we are talking about 10k+ plus years), so he struggles the most.
I can make a separate post about it to answer more detailed questions (e.g. language dynamics between Links), just let me know!
6) What do the Links think about your height and ears?
You are in your mid/late twenties and so are most of the Links (reminder that this is an AU). Some of them were surprised, but some already have people in their worlds with rounded ears. They don't think that much about you being taller, they are used to being shorties, as they are in most cases shorter than the average Hylian anyway.
7) What is your relationship status with Wild and Flora?
It's complicated. You never had time to talk about it since you were always hopping through worlds, facing life & death situations. All three are into each other, you did share each other, and you definitely have space in your heart for more. But that's a difficult conversation.
For now, Wild is there for you and you for him. He also notices Twilight's subtle advances and it is difficult to gauge what he feels. We shall explore those in the story, dear reader!
8) Do Links know that you know them from the games?
Nope. That's gonna be a conversation as well. For now, they know you have been a researcher in Wild's world and that you also come from another. But sometimes you hit a spot too that's too personal. You tried to explain but they didn't get it and you didn't push back. It will be a shitshow when they find out exactly what you mean with "interactive stories". Wild won't be happy for sure.
The problem with you (and your flaw for that matter), you are a blabber mouth. Let's be honest, how can you keep all that info to yourself? This sometimes causes conflicts and issues within the group. There is a reason why Legend nicknamed you "trivia bitch" at some point.
9) Will there be NSFW?
Indeed. But I shall keep it optional (at least the more explicit stuff). No Linkcest though.

Strength of the Ancients
[BOTW! Link x F! Reader]
Prologue Part 1
[Next Part]
Tumblr media
A little author’s note before I start! This is a bit self indulgent and part of an idea I’ve been holding onto for a while now that I wanted to try writing out and I’ve decided to start on this platform! If it goes well then I may reach out to other platforms, but, for now, it shall remain here! This story is supposed to branch out throughout the three games and then some both before and after them based from my own imagination, so hopefully we’ll be in this for the long run. Also, the name for Link’s sister will be Alona in this story since she was never given a name in this game. All we know is that if she would’ve been an actual character in the game, she would’ve been a remake of Aryll or that she would’ve had a different name-- which I tried to make a little similar. For the names of Link’s parents, I will be getting them from the Sound and Drama CD which names Link’s father Banzetta and his mother Loretta, as well as Zelda’s mother who appears to be named Seline. Im choosing for the reader to be female for this story, though, again, if the story is liked enough, I will be happy to rewrite it with a male reader if requested. The picture was cropped and found on Picsart!
Masterlist to access the rest of the story!

The steps of the two Hylians, a father and a son, echoed loudly in the castle, the lights pouring in from the crystal-like glass that lined the walls of the hallway. The ceilings rose high above them, the light glittering against the stone on the lower parts of the arches with the aid of the torches that remained lit beneath them. Every now and then, they would pass a guard who stood attentive yet unmoving in place. They simply watched as the king’s guests moved on.
The son appeared to be a little anxious, though he kept quiet as he looked around this rather foreign place. His father was a blacksmith who provided weapons and armor for the royal calvary while him and his younger sister tended to the farm at home in his absences-- although they would often get help from their father if he wasn’t working. The closest the young boy has ever been to the castle was the town below its walls where his father worked and where he and his sister would travel to to sell the goods they grew. The castle was always something he and his sister would admire from afar, yet he never guessed that he would be going inside it.
“Chin up, boy,” The gruff voice of his father reached his ears, causing him to look up at the elder man.
“Yes, sir.” The boy muttered, straightening his posture and looking ahead. They approached large double doors, to which more guards stood at. However, upon noticing their presence, they moved to grab the handles of the door and pulled them open. The doors creaked on their hinges at the movement, though only because of how large they were rather than if they were old or not. Beyond the door way was a large throne room. The ceilings rose even higher than the ones in the halls do-- something the young one didn't not think was possible. In the middle of the back wall, overlooking the whole room, were the thrones that sat underneath a large stained glass mural of the symbol of Hyrule shaped into it. There were three of them, the largest being in the middle, one just a little shorter than it on the left, and a smaller one on the right. The king sat within the middle one. The boy felt himself tense under the king’s intimidating presence alone, feeling his gaze burn into him and his father.
The father stopped a few feet away from the king and knelt down to bow with respect. His son did the same not long after upon noticing his father’s movements. “You’re majesty, it’s an honor to make your presence,” the father spoke up once more in kind greeting before careful getting back to his feet.
“The honor is all mine, Banzetta. You’re presence here was greatly anticipated,” The king looked at the boy now, sitting up in place, “And this must be the boy, correct.” Upon being addressed, the young one quickly got to his feet and straightened his posture-- he hadn’t realized his father had stood up already and was still kneeling on the ground till now. Rhoam stood from his throne and made his way down the steps towards the child. “Let me see your hand, boy.”
And he did just that, not wanting to appear to be disrespectful before someone so powerful. The nervousness still remained as he held out his right hand to him. Though the boy didn’t know the full extent to the markings on his hand just yet, he already knew that it was what the king wanted to see. It was the sole reason why his father brought him here. On the back of his palm rested an ancient symbol known as the ti-force with the bottom right triangle highlighted against his skin. He didn't know what it meant-- but being here was a hope to get answers.
The king knelt down before the boy and took his hand to inspect it. The king’s hold was gentle and he slid his thumb over the triangle shape imbedded in the boy’s skin. “So it’s true then. The Hero of Courage has been reborn.” King Rhoam spoke knowingly. It was hard to tell whether he was in shock or if he was relieved by his tone and this expression didn’t change except for the slight narrowing of the eyes.
The Hero of Courage was someone mentioned in a story the boy had heard from his mother before she had passed away years ago. A hero from the sky, clad in green, who took on an evil being of Power named Demise to save his dear friend and Hyrule from destruction. From then on out, the three wielders of the tri-force continued to be reborn-- Power causing destruction, Wisdom allocating knowledge to the land, and Courage protecting the land. The boy didn’t think the story to be real at the time, mostly because of where the hero seemed to come from. If Hyrule used to have islands in the sky, then where were they now?
“Hylia...” Banzetta muttered with his own surprise. Unlike his son, he did know the story behind the never ending battle between Courage, Wisdom, and Power right away. Although the appearance of the Hero of Courage was one to be celebrating, it also foretold the near future of Hyrule. Hyrule would fall into war once more at the hands of the Calamity and the monsters it brings.
The king stood up from the ground, looking down at the young boy. “Link,” he spoke the name of the boy as he remembered it from the letter, “Do you understand the responsibilities of the Hero of Courage?”
Link held a soft frown and directed his gaze away in thought. If he were to believe his mother’s stories to be true, then-- in a way-- he did have an idea of what the Hero of Courage’s duty was. “Yes, sir,” Link nodded hesitantly along with his words, looking back up at the king as he did so.
“Do you accept this responsibility to protect Hyrule and fulfill the destiny given to you by the Golden Goddesses of old?” The king urged with hope, holding his hands behind his back as he waited for an answer.
Being the reborn hero was hard to believe and yet there was something in the back of his mind telling him to take this chance. It was a call to adventure screaming at him to accept this role. If he was really the Hero of Courage, then he needed to be the one to defeat the wielder of Power that intended to destroy his home. It’s only ever been the Hero of Courage who defeats this evil in every story he’s heard about from his dear mother.
“Y-Yes,” although he stutters, his face shows determination.
The king visibly relaxes, turning back to sit on the throne. “Very well,” he sits down on the throne with each arm resting on the arm rests beside him. King Rhoam turns his attention to Banzetta.
Father and son shared a gaze. The nervousness still hung in the air, yet something new had sparked within the boy. A will, you could say. Banzetta expressed worry, but, upon noting how his son accepted this weight, said nothing. Instead, he looked to the king.
“Banzetta, it would be ideal to keep Link here with our ranks. He will need to start training as soon as possible,” King Rhoam looked to where a couple guards were on the left of the throne room and nodded, to which they both made their way to the pair standing before him.
Banzetta tightened his lips into a straight line. “A-... A week. I’d like to request that he return here for training in a week,” he requested in hopes to give Link a bit of time at home before leaving so suddenly. The boy, in turn, seemed to already agree with this. He loved his sister dearly, after all, and he didn’t want to just leave her on her own without an explanation.
The king huffed to himself as he considered the request. There was time. According to the sages, the Calamity shouldn’t arrive for another half of a decade. They had five years to prepare-- five years to build an army.
“Very well. Return in exactly a week, no time later, no time less.”
Banzetta sighed with relief, “Of course. Thank you, your majesty.”
The king nodded and returned his focus back to Link. “And thank you, young one. Hyrule will forever be in your debt. Guards, please escort these two to the palace gates.”

For the ask game! I’m making everyone be a hater bc I’m so curious about these specific questions. Lol
😔 Least favorite Zelda character
👾 Least favorite Zelda game
😤 Any Zelda-related pet peeves?
👍 Favorite Zelda headcanons
love heros-shade-fanclub
HERO im so ready omg
Let's get into it
😔
Honestly? Ravio orz I am so sorry, I tried so hard to like him but it's just not happening
👾
Phantom Hourglass is the one I actively avoid replaying because I just can't deal with the controls (how hypocritical of a skyward sword fan), but I love the story so I don't wanna count it as my least favorite
I'll go with the four swords instead, both of them. Never really cared for them
😤
OH SO MANY OMG
I have to preface this by saying tloz is my special interest and has been for over a decade, but I only go "um ACTUALLY" in my head
NOT EVERY LINK IS THE HERO OF TIME!! IN FACT ONLY ONE OF THEM IS. ggrrrrrr
ALSO!!!!!!!! ONLY SKYWARD SWORD ZELDA is the reincarnation of Hylia, every Zelda after her is only related to the goddess
It's pronounced HIGH-rule, emphasis on the first syllable!! And it's HIGH-lians and HIGH-lia, again emphasis on the first syllable. Hearing people pronounce it hill-ia and hill-ians makes me want to crawl out of my skin 😭😭
The manga are fun but they're NOT canon PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I am so tired /j
Zelda did not MAKE the champions leathers, she ordered them! I swear so many people get this wrong it drives me MAD
LINK IS SHORT!! HE IS MINISCULE! MICROSCOPIC! He's always been shorter than Zelda with only two exceptions. Love headcanons but I draw the line at inaccurate height relations /j
Hylia I am so tired of the "Link can only scream" joke orz please can we let it die already
Similarly, LOVE a feral botw/totk Link, but come on people he is not that stupid. Impulsive, yes. But stupid? I don't think so
NOT EVERY AU IS LU had to get that out of my system
Moving on! :]]
👍
My favorite headcanon is probably the soundtrack being Link's thoughts!
It's either melodies that just come to his mind as he goes, or folk music he knows! Village themes would be folk songs in my hc for example :]
Hylians say "blessings" to someone who sneezed! It comes from different things depending on what time period we're in. Sometimes it references a fairy spring or a great fairy herself, sometimes it references Hylia. It's to wish someone a speedy recovery basically!
Skyloftians say something that roughly translates to just "feathers". It's more of a joke than anything because until after the events of the game skyloftians didn't get sick! Skyloft was protected by Hylia's blessing before, to make sure the hero actually makes it far enough.
I have a bunch of headcanons focusing just on hylian language and culture, I love that sort of world building stuff hhnnngggghhh

20 Questions
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 10 works.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 131,856
3. What fandoms do you write for? Only Zelda right now, but I have done stuff for Evangelion and Teen Titans in the past! Also looking to add a Shingeki no Kyojin piece in there soon.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Reverdie (413), Fragmentation (290), After the Rain (200), Tacet (188) and Finding and Keeping (175)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always! I'm very greatful for folks taking the time to read and comment on my stuff. It really means a lot to me, so I like to show my gratitude in the comments.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Ooof uhhhh like none? I think I did some themed one-shots that were downers but like...I really can't bring myself to end on angsty notes.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? They all end happy, but I think Love Stayed With Me has to be the happiest by default because [TOTK ending spoilers here]
8. Do you get hate on fics? Thankfully, no! It would be okay if I did, though. Like whatever, a hater isn't paying for my service so I wouldn't really care if they were wasting their energy in my comments section.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes! It depends on the situation, really. I'm a big fan of smut that is sort of exploratory and almost innocent, where two characters are exploring these feelings with one another and discovering that bliss for the first time. But on the other hand...I am like, beyond ready to write Link getting pegged LMFAO. I'm not too picky about smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? No... I don't think I have. I think I planned one when I was like 13 but I can't remember the fandoms or anything.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Have had stuff reposted without my permission on other sites, but my name was still attached to it. So like...not entirely stolen haha. No one reposted under a different author's name.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I WOULD LOVE THIS
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yesssss! Currently worked on A Song of Storms with @deiliamedlini!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship? I really think Zelink takes the cake for me. I've never simped so hard for a ship. I love how they are cosmically entwined, soulmates which can come in really lovely, heartfelt forms, or angsty, miserable forms. They aren't limited by one iteration. gOD.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? As much as I wish I could, I don't think a longfic is in the cards for me. I'm frankly not creative enough to keep the momentum up ;_;. Maybe if the right inspo hit. But at this point I write shorter things and I don't expect to not finish them at some point, even if they take a while to crank out.
16. What are your writing strengths? I like to think that I have strong ideas on characterizations, and that the prose carries the ideas that I'm trying to convey. (Particularly about Zelink.) I love the poetic imagery for them and enjoy metaphoers and loooove religious imagery for them as well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Absolutely fucking plot and also finding the balance between like, wanting langauge to be flowery and not overdoing it. I am always tearing my hair out over it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? Oh I'm very down lol
19. First fandom you wrote for? I think would have been Teen Titans when I was like 12.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written? UGHHHHH I don't know, maybe Reverdie because it was so music inspired? And I loooooove writing pining Link and the sexual tension between them. Part of me actually thinks about rewriting that and making it longer, dragging it out even more than just 4 chapters, but I think that's me being sadistic haha. Love Stayed With Me was also so personal to me because it was crafted sort of in real time with playing TOTK. And of course has all my own personal baggage tied into it.
THIS WAS FUN THANKS FOR TAGGING ME @zellink! I'll tag @deiliamedlini @wanderingnightingale @itcantbe @softlessly and anyone else who wants to do it!

About Me
Call me Skies, or Sykie if you already know too many Skys. (The perils of wandering into the LU community two years late!)
I write, theoretically, but after severe burnout in my teens and 20s I don’t post much of it. Trying to gently stretch out some of those scars, but it’s slow going.
I also sometimes don’t have a lot of words to spare. If I take a while to respond, or do so entirely in emojis, it’s not that I hate you, it’s that I’ve run out of words for the day, and tumblr doesn’t do well at expressing happy stimming.
My Ao3: undertheopensky
Current Status:
Obsessed with Legend of Zelda, Linked Universe specifically
Drawing LU Four every day!
Still working on Whumptober 2023 (yes I'm late, had a very bullshit two weeks and now work is in crunch time)
Participating in Febuwhump 2024 - I won’t be doing every day, just the ones that call to me, and I’m aiming to make these shorter than my Whumptober fills, as some of those got so long and involved that I’m STILL working on them!
Edit: Task failed successfully. *facepalm*
Tags:
skies thinks too much - personal tag
sykie plays games / skies plays games - rambling thoughts on the videogames I was playing at the time
skies writes, theoretically - writing tag
skies draws sometimes - drawing tag
disaster sykie - I am genetically clumsy and only mostly resigned to it. Block this tag if you don't like injuries or complaining.

Whether it was a broomstick, a flagpole, or a mop--Instincts of training and fighting returned instantly. Mipha felt a piece of her spirit return when Kolla, the Rito guard, presented a beautifully carved spear.
"You're sure about this?" He asked, hesitantly letting go. Mipha took a step back, her hands sliding into place. One close to the colorful feathers and blade, the other to the blunt end of the weapon.
She twirled it and lunged--Kolla's feathers swaying in the sharp jab--and his shoulders were immediately relieved.
"I see. You should take this, then." He passed her a smaller knife and belt to attach. "Just in case."
He looked back at Urbosa, already prepared with her Gerudo weapons, sword, and shield in their glory.
Set for the weather and enemies, the guard took to the sky, guiding Mipha and Urbosa as they traveled on foot over bridges and rocky roads.
Then, Mipha looked up at Urbosa, one thought present in her mind.
"You chose me to accompany you."
"I did. Does that surprise you?"
"I thought you would ask me to stay behind. After all, I have no Zora weapons. My trident has broken, my healing abilities are absent still. What can I contribute?"
Mipha watched Urbosa's eyebrows knit together.
"You are still a renowned fighter, with or without a trident. And your healing, well...Speaking from my own experience, it takes time, Mipha. Yes, the days are short and nights shorter, but time passes regardless of our actions. You may as well refocus your energy until that muscle is strong enough to return to you."
Urbosa hummed after her words fell and sank into Mipha. The Zora Princess took a deep breath and held her spear tighter. "Right. I just need to..."
"Dodge!"
Kolla shouted from above, bowstring already pulled taut and an arrow docked. The cold wind cut  Mipha's cheek, and something shrieked from the snow beside her. A white Lizalfos scrambled out from its hiding place, scuttling with its metal weapon as its eyes swiveled in circles.
Mipha aimed her spear forward, scanning the snowbanks. Urbosa spun around the other way.
When it came to Lizalfos, there was always more than one. At the leap and shriek of the monsters, lumps in the snow broke free; Ice-made chuchus rolled out with hazardous frost, daring anyone to risk contact.
"Hey! This way, hurry!"
Mipha jumped over a swinging branch, lunging for one last attack, while Urbosa swung high, keeping the monsters away enough for them to run. Kolla flew much faster, rising and falling above snow clouds to guide the way; Mipha took a deep breath, following his scent as the clouds began to smother and disguise.
The makeshift camp was overrun with chaos; Mipha swooped low as a dead Keese went flying over her head and barreled into the snow; Sharp stakes were tied together to keep intruders at bay; Peculiar skulls were rattling on the stakes, cackling in death at the wounded and irritated. In one corner, makeshift beds held Rito tending to their frostbitten feathers or sliced skin. Mipha's heart tightened, but she kept her focus on Kolla.
He whipped his head around, darting to rushing soldiers and the overworked, underwhelmed, and understaffed environment.
Urbosa stepped forward, sheathing her swords. "This place is in chaos. Who is in charge here?"
"...Revali." Kolla winced.
"Ah. I see." Urbosa pursed her lips together. "Who is next to lead, then?"
Another voice snapped out from behind Mipha; A wounded Rito leaned over the bedside, nursing his side with a cloth pressed tightly to the skin. "Kolla. The young ones were fighting the Lynel at South Summit; Nngn…You will have to be the one to make the next move."
Kolla's feathers poofed up for a moment. "Me?" He glanced at Urbosa's expectant look. "Ugh…I guess so. I apologize, I thought our time would be brief. Here's the rundown, then."
He pointed towards the north gate. "We are the last defense before Rito Village. Revali has taken the unharmed soldiers to the summit, but we are running low on supplies, and there is not enough to tend to the wounded. You get the idea?"
Urbosa nodded. "Of course. However, Revali is the key to your Divine Beast. If Revali and Zelda can work together, I am certain that machine will be the key to stopping this monster problem."
"Right. Revali will not come back so easily. He is stubborn, especially so this time around. For what reason or another, I wish I knew. If you can carry your weight in battle, you can follow the soldiers to Hebra South Summit."
As they spoke, Mipha glanced around the camp; many soldiers were already wounded and unattended. She broke from Urbosa and Kolla to the elder Rito at the nearest bed. Something inside switched, and all sounds became background noise; She rummaged through boxes and bags, arms piled up with tools and cloth.
"What's your name?" She asked the man.
He lifted his head, dense clouds evaporating with each breath. "Kaneli."
Mipha opened a pot lid; An earthy smell, like plaster, wafted up immediately. A smaller jar was filled with honey-colored oil. Perfect.
"I am Mipha, from Zora's Domain. I can help heal you, if you'd let me."
Kaneli chuckled and looked down at his wound. "Do what you can, Miss Mipha."
Mipha pulled over a chair with her foot and sat down. Her hands worked faster than her brain; all thoughts focused on tending to the spear wound in Kaneli's side. She barely heard Urbosa's voice as she laughed at something.
"-I am not the Chief of the Gerudo for my looks. Let's go, Princess Zelda is waiting. Mipha. Mipha?"
Mipha hummed as she cleaned the wound, bent over, and focused intensely. "I shall take care of the soldiers here. That much I can manage."
It wasn't ideal, but magic nor energy sang for Mipha; Luckily, she had specifically chosen to study under the healers in the domain, and tending to such awful wounds was not her first time around. Though when the moment paused, Mipha steadied her hand over the most minor cuts, squeezing her eyes shut and focusing. Come on, come on…
She thought of her baby brother, grinning teeth and tail dragging along the ground. She thought of her father, his bellowing laugh, and the gentle way he could pick up both siblings in one hand. Muzu--his particular morning walks, and Calla--Returned from a sister domain deep underwater.
Zelda's smile flashed across her vision, making her heart beat faster, but no magic returned to her fingertips.
"Huh." Kaneli adjusted his position slowly and leaned to a more comfortable place, gazing down at his wound. "It looks….Better. Not great, obviously. If it looked great, I would be back out there."
"How do you feel?" Mipha blinked away her grief, wiping her hands clean of medicinal honey and oil. "I recommend keeping a keen watch on it; It must require time to heal properly. No more fighting for now, I'm afraid."
"Of course, doctor's orders." Kaneli gave a small smile, his eyes weary and spent. He lifted his wing, the feathers dirtied and wet from melted snow. "You saved my wing, you know. What is your name, again?"
"Mipha Naphela of Zora's Domain." Mipha bowed. "But you can call me Mipha."
Kaneli murmured Mipha's name, nodding. He took a deep breath and leaned back into the pillows under his back. "I'll remember that name."
Mipha filled her arms with the pots and jars, smelling the thick blood around her. Three healers worked tirelessly, but soldiers outnumbered them and the number of cots.
Her eyes landed on a few soldiers crowded around a campfire and readied her worries for the next patient. Her smile and words put their tense shoulders and exhausted eyes at ease.
---
"Hey! Mipha!" Kolla called out.
Dust and snow flew up at Kolla's landing as Mipha set the plaster for a soldier's last shoulder wound.
Her eyes widened as she watched many more Rito land, some stumbling and others brooding. She searched the crowd until bright red hair appeared through the gates.
"Oh, you made it back!" Mipha jumped up and faltered.
A familiar warrior came to a swift landing in the center of the camp, shoveling snow and ice from his feathers. He lifted his head, narrowing his eyes at Urbosa's nonchalant attitude.
The Gerudo Chief walked past Revali to Mipha, giving her a warm smile. "I see you've been busy. Do you have time for one more patient?"
"Oh please," Revali sighed. "I won that battle with not a scar to show for it."
"I was referring to myself." Urbosa peeled back her sleeve to show a bleeding wound. Mipha could hear Revali's beak snap shut.
"Hmph." His eyes landed on Mipha, studying her momentarily and building something to say.
"Champion Revali, it's an honor to meet you. Though these circumstances are not so pleasant."
Mipha was humid with a haunting of embarrassment, but there was no excuse for silly behavior.
"Sunny days in the meadow are not common here." Revali huffed, plucking debris from his feathers. "I had everything under control back there, you know. I only returned to end this business with the princess."
Mipha applied healing salves to Urbosa's arm. "The princess will be thrilled to see you become the next pilot of Vah Medoh."
Revali lifted his beak, smugly nodding towards Rito Village. "I don't blame her for choosing the most uniquely skilled warrior to control that machine."
Mipha snuck the bandages on Urbosa's arm, setting her arm down carefully. She glanced around at the camp, at Kolla speaking with more stable soldiers. It seemed as if things were calmer, steadier.
"Have the monsters subsided?" Mipha asked and waited for Revali to finish his assessment before meeting her eyes.
"For the meantime." Revali trailed off, eyeing Mipha carefully. "You tended to the wounded this whole day? With your healing powers I heard about?"
"Oh, well…" Mipha slowly shook her head. "I made do without it, I cannot rely on magic forever. I used what was around me. Was that a mistake?"
Revali lifted his head, an aura of surprise overtaking him. He quickly snuffed it and shrugged. "I see no corpses, so…I will take your work here…As a good sign."
"...Is that a thank you?"
Revali crossed his arms behind his back, marching away. Urbosa chuckled, finally moving to stand slowly.
"In an irritating sense, yes." Urbosa said. "Now, let's go complete this ceremony before my bones begin to freeze."
.。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。.
The tension on Zelda's shoulders dropped when the pilots and Rito guards were gathered at the foothill, Vah Medoh only several yards away.
She gestured excitedly towards the moving beast. "Ta-da! Isn't this great!"
Mipha grinned, raising a hand over her eyes. Urbosa nodded once, a soft smile on her face.
Revali stepped forward, less enthusiastic and impressed than the others. Zelda spun around and jogged alongside Revali towards the stone feet of the Divine Beast.
"We're making great progress in traveling, don't you agree?" Mipha asked, watching the princess and Rito from afar. Zelda's hands moved around, gesturing towards the feet and wings, her hair swaying in the wind.
Urbosa nodded. "Our next stop is no small feat, either. Though I've never been, I can't imagine Death Mountain is a relaxing vacation destination."
Zelda and Revali stopped. Vah Medoh's head froze in its swaying motion. Zelda hesitantly lifted her Sheikah Slate to the humming pedestal. She moved and gestured for Revali to take her place.
"Oh? Boiling lava isn't your style, Urbosa?"
Revali, one hand on his hip, raised his hand to wave over the pedestal, reaching to touch the Sheikah's eye and staring back at him.
Mipha could not hear what had been said, only saw Zelda speak and smile as she watched Revali. Maybe she was saying, "Take your place as the chosen Pilot of Vah Medoh, Revali of the Rito."
Urbosa chuckled. "No, I can't say I like my skin melted off my bones. I have heard that even the air is unbearable--You can simply burst into flames at the summit."
A voracious groaning rumbled the hill. Orange blood ran through Medoh's veins, and her hollow eye became furious with red. Zelda and Revali stumbled back, and Mipha felt her heart shatter at the unknown sight.
"What's going on?!" Urbosa lunged forward to catch her footing and ran towards Zelda without waiting for an answer. Mipha watched as a shimmering red shield protected Medoh from intruders; Trespassers.
"It's rogue!" Somebody shouted, and spears were drawn. Bows docked and ready to fire.
"There must be a mistake!" Mipha's words were drowned out by Rito flown to the skies; Medoh's ancient wings unfurled, talons releasing chunks of earth as she lifted. A boulder of rock teetered then tumbled--Revali pushed Zelda to Urbosa's side as it slammed into the dirt, and loose soil and pebbles flew.
"Not on my watch!" Revali announced and dropped to a stance; his wings hit the ground in one swoop; A gust of wind shot Revali into the heavens at breakneck speed.
As Mipha shielded her vision, her eyes landed on Revali's quill of arrows and made a mental note to prepare for deafening sounds.
"Urbosa! Zelda!" She called out as Urbosa urgently escorted Zelda away from harm. Zelda's head was angled upwards, frozen at Vah Medoh, shaking side to side.
"I don't understand…Urbosa…?" Zelda trailed off. "It--It rejected him."
Urbosa was silent, watching with furrowed eyebrows. Mipha looked at both of them, wishing she had an answer, a prophetic explanation. Vah Medoh was protected by a barrier of shimmering red waves reflected from the sun as it rippled down the body. She had angled her canons, her weaponry, aimed with no intention of firing (yet).
Mipha ran the scenario through her head thrice over. "It was calibrated--"
"Activated…" Zelda followed the bird with her eyes.
"You had it activated before we arrived, so it couldn't have been a mistake on your end. You approached Vah Medoh with Revali…"
"I asked him to place his hand on the pedestal. I recited the Champions' Ballad ... .And Vah Medoh did not accept."
Revali fired bomb arrows at Vah Medoh's barrier, unrelenting. Mipha lost count after seven times.
Vah Medoh turned her canons, and a thin line pierced the daylight sky.
"I have picked the wrong Champion…" Zelda whispered, her fist clenched tight around the brooch of her coat.

Mini tears of the kingdom/ breath of the wild theory regarding the ancient hero
Sorry if someone has already though of this but hear me out if not. I think the ancient hero is the son of Rauru and Sonia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He looks like a Zonai-Hyrulian hybrid to me. His ears are noticeably smaller and look like a Hyrulians just slightly furry. He's missing the third eye that Rauru and Minaru had. His snout also seems shorter. His torso looks to be shorter than a Zonai's making him the height of a Hyrulian. And of the Zonai we've seen so far, his hair is not white/silver lile theirs.
We don't know how long lived the Zonai are as both that we've met had physically died due to magic/gloom, so for all we know this apparent hybrid hero could have been fighting along side his own descendant a few generations removed.
(Yes, I know a lot of these differences between the Zonai and the ancient hero are to do with making the model work on Link's rigging but it works so WELL because Sonia sensed both her power and Rauru's power from Zelda so they had to have had a child at some point before her death!)

13 video games to get to know me
vaguely tagged by @rarmaster. Sort of pulling from an old tweet thread about this. Ish. In sort of a particular order, but don't think too much about it.
Under the cut 'cause this is long
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - gave me feels about time shenanigans and destiny and stepping up to the plate and waiting for the person you care about and character growth and childhood friends. Also reincarnation and the self, and are you who you think you are, or are you who you were destined to be? Very much my shit. It's my favorite Zelda game.
FFVIII - also time shenanigans and destiny and proving destiny wrong and forging your own way and making your own luck and standing up for what you believe in. Also, there is something about the fact that my disc 3 (out of 4) was broken and I had to replace it 3 times just to get past the part on the moon so I could finish the game. Definitely makes it more special I think. The patience and dedication. (Also, I know a game has wrecked me when I'm writing fanfiction for it. And then taking characters from this game and putting them in other fanfiction. (Okay, it was Kingdom Hearts so it only kind of counts.) But I definitely added Rinoa to my KH long fic and have no regrets about it.)
Kingdom Hearts II - Yeah it was only a matter of time before something KH showed up on this list. I chose KHII because it's honestly my favorite to play. It's a really good balance of mechanics, controls, and skill that I feel other KH games don't necessarily have. Plus, I mean, somewhere between here and Days, I had enough ideas to start writing a longfic that basically is the length of 4+ novels.
Dragon Age Origins - I really enjoyed the concept of starting out in different places but coming to the same result in Ostagar. I loved making the best of a shitty situation and getting to know a bunch of people who were also coming from shitty situations but somehow we all were what it took to save the world. And my choices mattered! (Well, as much as they could in a BioWare game.) Also a game I wrote fanfic for - though never finished the fanfic. But that doesn't change the fact that sometimes I think about what would've happened if all the potential Wardens had lived.
Undertale - I feel like this one speaks for itself a fair bit. Being kind. Choosing mercy. The power of friendship. (Assuming you go that route.) But also, consequences of actions. Choosing to be good. The lesbians win. Sometimes a marriage isn't recoverable. Sometimes kids are just kids. The horror I felt when I realized how the game changed based on your kill count? Yeah, definitely restarted and figured out how to do a full pacifist run. Wrote fanfiction for this fandom too. A couple of shorter one shots. Because I like operating under a "what if everyone lives" sometimes.
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Yes, another Zelda game. Twilight Princess is very much vibes for me. Another Link who steps up to the plate even though he was just a goat farmer. Zelda trying to reconcile her past. Midna's entire fucking existence. Also, there is so much that haunts the narrative in this game if you look hard enough. I want to know more about it. I don't want to know more about it. It's perfect as it is.
Super Smash Brothers Brawl - Play Subspace Emissary. I'm begging you. Epic team ups. Character development in a fighting game. Trying to save the world from a greater evil that's destroying everything. Former enemies setting aside their differences to wreck shit together. Some of my favorite moments include Peach and her tea and then Zelda also has tea. Also Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf deciding that the Big Bad is a bigger problem than their differences. So much good stuff here.
Thrillville - This game has everything. "You've inherited a park from your crazy uncle go manage it." It's a rhythm game, a side scroller, a coaster builder, a racing game, and so much more all packed into one. I spent way too much time getting every high score for the cheerleading mini game. Also Event Horizon is the best. I go back to this game for comfort.
Yoshi's Story - This is also a N64 game. I worked very very hard to get to the end of this game while keeping all of my Yoshi's alive. (Did I absolutely reset if I died so I didn't lose the Yoshi? You bet I did as soon as I learned I could do that.) I spent a ton of time trying to figure out how to unlock everything in that game (when the internet was still new for this sort of shit) and I *still* never managed it. I tell myself one day I will, but I probably won't.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Maybe it's cheating to say this game? It's also the newest game on here because I really focused on ones that were formative for me at a younger age. However, if there's one Zelda game I wish I could go back and play for the first time again, it's this one. That's it, that's the vibe.
Tetris 64 - I very specifically mean this one. There is something about making a square that makes my brain go BRRT. It makes happy noises. I play this game to destress. I remember racking up lines and building the 7 wonders of the world alongside my fam. It's good shit.
Shrek Super Party - Honestly, this one is about the fun memories of playing with my family. We would mimic the voices of the mirror and poke so much fun at each other while playing. We'd compete for high scores in some games, and just accept that others of us were just better at others. So so so much fun and a lot of fond memories attached to this game.
Mario Party 1 - Okay look, you're probably like, "magik, why are there not one, but TWO party games on here?" And my answer is that Mario Party 1 was the first game that my family and I played together that we actually like, worked for a common goal. (Tetris notwithstanding.) Like sure, we'd play racing games and stuff, but there was something about Mario Party when we got our 100 stars and then Bowser came to steal them and we played his map for the first time? And then Eternal Star? I have *vivid* memories of sitting on a chair with a TV tray in front of me with my food in one corner and the controller in another as I waited for my turn or mini games. And we all just sat there, playing a STORYLINE that hadn't been there until then. Except it had been? So, I mean, that is a very specific scenario to me. I cannot do that again for the first time. But that's okay.
Honorable mentions:
Mario Kart Double Dash - while this game doesn't have all my favorite Mario Kart tracks, there's something about the mechanics. Two racers, with power ups linked to racers. The ability to play two people one kart?!? Wild. The mindmeld required to do that and the experiences I had playing with my friend and sibling growing up. Also, Baby Park is insane.
Super Mario 64 - I played this game a lot with my friend as a kid. We shared a save file. My younger sibling was not a fan of seeing this game in their dreams because they watched us play it all the freaking time. We just worked to get gud and beat the game. Before school. After school. Over the summer. It was like, goals.
Mario Party 2 - Costume changes based on the worlds. That is all.
Some non-video game media that fucking rewired my brain that you should consider:
Owl House - I have not been this wrecked over a TV show in years. I have not been this wrecked over media in years. But if you haven't noticed, it's been Owl House hours on my blog for the past several weeks and that's not stopping in the near future either. But there's something about seeing myself in Eda. Along with the tight writing. The excellent magic system. The characters. The parallels. Everything.
New Who - I specifically mean doctors 9-11. Tennant was like, my favorite doctor. But 9 has some amazing episodes. And River, another of my beloveds, is primarily featured with 11.
Middlegame - Time. Loops. Siblings. TIMELOOPS. Dodger, I love her.
So You Want to Be a Wizard - Technically, I wasn't really wrecked until much later in the series, but the way magic works in this universe is fantastic. Also, I so wanted to be Nita and find a manual like she did. Alas, I did not. So instead I write my own stories.
Mistborn - Listen, you do not read all three of Era 1 in three days, make a shitton of playlists, and think about it for hours on end and not say it didn't rewire your brain. (This is currently, effectively, what I am doing with Owl House apparently.)
Arcane - Again, siblings. The vibes. Victor. The will-they-won't-they between Caitlyn and Vi. The music. The vibes.

Modern AU Part 2!
So remember how in part one I mentioned that there is a North and South Hyrule Field and that I have a couple of OC's(original characters) that I am throwing into the Modern AU well I'm going to talk about that and all the others that are in the AU in a bit
But to start Heights Ages and Names first let's do the names, yes names, so like obviously names like Time, Twilight, Legend those are all nicknames do they respond to them yes because their nicknames and everyone that has a nickname responds to a nickname but here is my personal opinion on what everyone's names actually are and this only applies to the chain not the zeldas now moving on
Time: his real name is Tony, yes Tony I actually sit around thinking about it for a while and for some reason it just fits to me, so this makes his actually full name Tony Thymons yes Thymons is his last name....... I think it's funny
Twilight: Travis, this boy was born and grew up in the country even before he was adopted by Time and Malon, and I will not accept him being named anything that is not a name you would typically find in the country
Warriors: Max, idk he just looks like a max to me also he reminds me a little bit of a character named Max from the original Beyblade series
Wild: oh my gosh I spent more time thinking about what this boy's name would be than I did Time's, and honestly it took me quite a bit but after thinking it over I decided Chase was a very good name for him
Sky: Sam, Sam is a simple easy name and I just feel like simple and easy fits Sky so well
Four: this was another one that was tough to decide on but after re-reading Linked Universe all the way up to the latest update my mind decided that Victor suited him so yeah
Wind: for this AU I have a personal little thing where I imagine that his grandpa was a sailor named Jack and that he is named after his grandpa so his name is Jack
Legend: Jason, I just feel like the name Jason fits him so well
Hyrule: Joey, I don't know he just looks like a Joey to me
Okay so now Ages and Heights, for the ages and the Heights I'm actually going to include Fable, Flora and Aryll because why not
Time: 38 to 43, and I'm going to say he's anywhere from 6'5 to 6'7 because this man is tall I mean we've all seen him stand next to the rest of the chain he makes literally all of them look small
Twilight: he's about 22 to 23 and this boy is also tall not as tall as Time but still in the over 6 ft range but he's probably 6'2 or 6'3 because we see that he's at least a good 3 or 4 maybe 5 inches shorter then Time is
Warriors: 21 to 22 this boy is 6 ft even and thank hylia for that because everyone else in the house thinks that there's too many tall people
Sky: 23 to 24 and he is either 5'10 or 5'11 either way he's not that much shorter than Warriors
Wild: 17 he has one more year until graduation and he will not let anyone forget this, he's 5'8
Hyrule: 19 to 20, he's either 5'7 Or 5'9 and that's only because I can't decide if he should be shorter then Wild or taller than him
Legend: 20 to 21, he is 5'5, also his height might be partially me projecting on to him since he's one of my favorites and I am also 5'5
Wind: 13 to 14, 5'2 or 5'3 and still growing
Four: 18 to 19 and he is 5 ft even
Fable: 20 to 21, she is 5'4 and a half like seriously she is barely barely shorter than Legend
Flora: 17 like Wild she also does not let anyone forget she has one more year until she graduates, she's 5'9 yes she is taller than Wild buy one inch but she is still taller than him and whenever he annoys her she annoys him back by reminding him of this
Aryll: 6 to 7, she is 4'1, but she's also really energetic so it makes up for it
Now moving on to more important things
North Hyrule Field High and South Hyrule Field High have a competition going on between the two schools this means competing against each other in everything from basketball to cheerleading and let's not forget the great Romeo Juliet off of 2001 (Malon was Juliet and Time was Romeo for South Hyrule Field High)
Of course this makes for some very interesting things like Twilight actually met Midna because he had to go to a basketball game because Warriors plays basketball and no one can tell me different and Midna was actually drug there by a friend of hers and the two started talking and then found out that they were from two different schools Twilight from South Hyrule High and Midna from North Hyrule High, and yes Midna and Twilight are dating no one knows how it happened but it happened
Also North Hyrule Field University and South Hyrule Field University are just as bad about competing with each other as the high schools are
Sky's girlfriend Sun(his Zelda) attends North Hyrule Field University, while Sky attends South Hyrule Field University he is both okay and not okay with this he picked the university that was closest to his family but at the same time he really wishes he was going to the same University as his girlfriend because he really loves her and wishes they could spend more time together even though they study together and work together and she spends so much time at Lon-Lon Ranch that people are starting to think that Sun lives there
Anyways the ones that I live in and attend either school or university in South Hyrule Field are as follows
(Obviously Time and Malon live in South Hyrule Field since that's where Lon-Lon Ranch is and Time is the sheriff of South Hyrule Field so won't be counting them on this list)
Okay so we're going to start with the chain and the girls or as I like to call them "Time and Malon's cluster of Chaos Gremlins" okay so from oldest to youngest let's go
Sky: despite attending University for a while he doesn't actually have and set major or minor he's like one of those University students that's basically taking classes for a little bit of everything
Twilight: he's majoring in agriculture yep the dude that lives on a ranch and does farm work EVERYDAY is majoring in agriculture, however one of his miners is architecture
Warriors: got into University on basketball scholarships but is studying and majoring in theater/drama/acting
Legend: he's studying music, mythology and weapons yes weapons like weapons throughout history he's studying that I feel like we should all be concerned
Fable: girl is majoring in both history and mythology, and Legend always makes sure to sit on the far side of the room away from her
Hyrule: he is studying to become a doctor and no one can convince me otherwise
Four: he's studying history, philosophy and hylian( you know how we have English class it's like that) but he's only majoring in history and philosophy
Wild: he is still in high school with one more year until he graduates and he is looking forward to that last year
Flora: also in high school and looking forward to graduating since there's only a year left until her and Wild do but she's excited to graduate and go to college Wild just wants out of high school
Wind: middle school but wishes he was in high school despite all of his older siblings telling him it's not as great as he thinks it will be
Aryll: Elementary School she enjoys it she has friends and she is still talking about the trip to the zoo that trip was 3 months ago
Now on to the other people
Sheik(Time's Zelda): has extremely good music knowledge especially when it comes to instruments and singing literally could have been a music teacher but instead is a fighting instructor who owns thier own gym oh and they use she/they pronouns, also they're like one of Time's best friends
Minnie(Four's Zelda): also before anyone says I'm calling her Minnie because of the Minish Cap no your wrong I'm calling her Minnie after Minnie Mouse anyways she's attending South Hyrule University and is majoring in philosophy and hylian alongside Four
Tetra(Wind's Zelda): she has played everything from football to baseball to basketball she likes Sports, her and Wind have been friends since kindergarten and obviously in Middle School
Artemis(Warriors Zelda): she is majoring in science and art but she's also on the University's baseball team and she's possibly in love with Warriors no one can really tell
Mipha: friends with Flora and Wild also in high school and is one year away from graduating she is captain of the swim team also she has a crush on Wild but hasn't confessed to him yet Flora has told her she definitely should though
Okay so now I'm going to talk about the two OC's that I have in this AU and then we will move on to the people that are in North Hyrule Field
Okay so my OC's are Revia and Romi
Revia is Romi's mom and she owns like the best store in town because her store is not just a hardware store and a farm supply store like where you can get feed for your livestock and everything(think like a mixture between Home Depot and Tractor Supply) it is also a clothing store and it always has the most up-to-date fashion as well as some fashion choices from like back in the day, everyone loves to shop there Twilight also works there so does Hyrule, Flora and Legend
Romi is as previously mentioned Revia's daughter she's 21 to 22 about 5'9 or 5'10, and she's attending South Hyrule Field University she's studying the "Fine Arts" like filmography, photography, acting, costume design you name it she's most likely taking a class for it she also works at her mom's store and like Sky's girlfriend Sun, Romi spends so much time at Lon-Lon Ranch hanging out with her friends that people are starting to think that she lives there it doesn't help that she does spend the night sometimes (I might draw pictures of Revia and Romi later but idk)
Now on to North Hyrule Field
Revali: this dude has moved around so much also currently attending North Hyrule Field University before that he was attending South Hyrule Field High, he graduated a year before Wild, he's originally from Rito Town, but move to South Hyrule Field around high school and for some reason took an instant dislike to Wild as soon as they met no one knows why after graduation decide to go to North Hyrule Field University where he is currently living in a dorm Hylia I feel sorry for his roommates
Sun: Sky's girlfriend, going to University for religious studies, also her and Sky have been a thing since like Middle School Sky might not be Time's Kid by Blood but he is following in his dad's footsteps, her and Sky text and call every minute they're apart unless they're in class but if they're not in class and they are not with each other they are to either texting or calling there is no in between
Ravio: Legend's friend that attends North Hyrule Field University, no one knows what he's majoring in but he does hang around the ranch a lot
Other people that live in other places in Hyrule that are in this AU
Llia: Twilight's best friend she was suspicious of Midna the entire time that Midna and Twilight were dating, she actually ended up developing a dislike towards midna because Midna moved away without telling Twilight and broke up with him before that but wouldn't tell him why(although Twilight insists that Midna must have had her reasons for what she did) once she was old enough which started in Middle School every summer she would get a job working at Lon-Lon Ranch this continued through high school and is still going on every summer she gets a job working at the ranch also possibly had a crush on Twilight at one point, she lives in Ordon Town which according to her isn't that very far of a drive from Ordon Town to South Hyrule Field Twilight thinks otherwise and that she should stop trying to make that trip at night
Saria: Time's childhood best friend who lives in Kokiri Town, and is actually ordained, she was the one that officiated Time and Malon's wedding, the cluster of chaos gremlins call her Aunt Saria
Urbosa: mayor of Gerudo town, she's also a licensed therapist she is also the best at getting gifts for people like she always knows what to get someone Flora calls her auntie
Riju: Urbosa's daughter who admires wild way too much like seriously someone please stop this kid from trying to act like him
And now that all that is out of the way on to more random stuff about the AU
Time and Malon own a van that is big enough for all of their kids and Wolfie plus any friends that those kids might want to bring along (*cough* Sun *cough*)
The older kids carpool to University like they all have their own trucks cars Etc but they will stand in front of their bedroom doors in the hallway at night after they get done eating dinner and doing any chores that might need done and discuss whose car are they taking to University tomorrow, also who carpools and who doesn't depends on who has work and who doesn't the ones that have work after University usually take a separate car than the ones that don't
Remember in part 1 when I said that time thought the puppy that was with Twilight was going to be a small dog....... yeah he actually regrets saying the words "oh come on how big could it actually get" because Wolfie is massive Twilight has a full size bed and that dog takes up most of it like you walk into Twilight's room to wake him up of a morning(on the extremely rare occasion when he sleeps in) and you can barely tell he's there because of how big Wolfie is
However Wolfie does not always sleep in Twilight's room or bed if one of the other kids has had a bad day then Wolfie sleeps in their room
Four, Sky and Aryll are the only ones that don't have to share a room with anyone
The ones that do have to share rooms are Warriors and Wind, Legend and Hyrule, Twilight and Wild, and of course Fable and Flora
Sky's the oldest so he does not have to share a room with anyone Four doesn't share room with anyone because he cannot sleep if he's in a room with other people
And because Aryll is the youngest she gets the room closest to Time and Malon also known as the room that no one else wanted to be in
Every single person in the house listens to different kinds of music you can walk up the stairs and every bedroom will be playing different music that's not even counting the fact that Malon in the kitchen is playing different music than what the kids are playing in their rooms (I'll talk more about the music thing in part 3 because oh boy do I have so many thoughts on what everyone listens to)
However on the flip side of that Time doesn't usually play or put on any music he usually just listens to whatever someone else is playing this man will listen to any kind of music really
Legend will only wear pants if it is cold however if you take him to the beach you can talk him into wearing swim trunks
Everyone was taught how to ride a horse on Epona, also everyone has their own horse including Twilight Twilight has a Epona the II
The only ones that actually likes taking care of the cucco's is Sky and Malon, Time will take care of them but he does not like to the others try to avoid it at all costs
Flora has on more than one occasion try to get at least one of her brother's to eat a live frog, none of them would she stopped when she eventually got in trouble, so she started putting them in their beds instead, but only when they annoyed her or made her mad
Fable makes up the best bedtime stories and no one can convince me otherwise
Twilight and Malon are the only ones with country/southern accents a lot of people in the town have trouble understanding them at times but the whole family understands understand what they say without any trouble
All of the kids actually love helping Malon in the kitchen but some are better at cooking and baking than others
All of them including Time can either sing dance or play musical instruments, and Malon loves how Lively the house is when they all decide to do this at the same time
All of the kids have asked Time to sing them to sleep at some point in while growing up, Aryll still asks him to so does Wind but that's a secret so don't tell anyone.
Okay so now it is time to wrap this up because I think this one might actually be longer than the last one I might be wrong but don't worry I am going to be making a part 3, also I'm going to try to get part 3 to be more storytelling or at least formatted in a similar way that part 1 was and I'll probably be making a lot more parts to follow after that one, anyways I hope everyone thinks that this one is okay
Oh and if you have any questions about the Modern AU or anything like that or any suggestions for it feel free to leave your suggestions or ask me questions
(@merriclo here's part 2! 😊 also I'm really glad that you liked part 1 I'm most likely going to make a lot more parts to this, if you want me to keep tagging you let me know I'd be happy to do so I'm just glad someone likes this little AU and thought I had in my head as much as I do)

I am once again asking for an all-new new top-down Zelda adventure.
I am as psyched as anybody for Tears of the Kingdom, so I hope everyone who is playing is having an awesome time today! Happy release day!
....I didn't pre-order it, mind you — because I'm intimidated by it. I'm scared that once I start playing it, I won't be able to STOP playing it for months. So I'm going to hold off until at least after I complete next month's Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. Personal priorities, I guess.
With that said: I want to talk about how nothing feels quite like exploring one of the top-down Zelda games. There's something so very gratifying about those titles that can't be replicated. Finding every single nook and cranny and object. The dungeons regularly reach heights that're so much more elaborate and complicated than they ever managed to be in 3D. You think the water temple in Ocarina of Time was hard? Talk to me after you finish the water temple in Oracle of Ages. It gets legitimately MIND-BENDING.
Tumblr media
If you haven't been here, you are not ready.
Those 6.5 titles — The original TLoZ included, but I'm primarily thinking about A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, The Minish Cap, and to a lesser extent, A Link Between Worlds — have a charm that I've just never seen successfully replicated. YES, I know we get "Zeldalikes" such as Ittle Dew, Hazelnut Bastille, Reverie, and Mina the Hollower, but let's be real here — "-like" games never quite scratch the itch, do they? We're pining for those characters, those worlds, that EXACT feel. We're not pining to play "voxel guy from 3D Dot Game Heroes." We're pining to play a game as fucking Link and hear those classic music cues You feel me?
(And no, the top-down DS games absolutely did not scratch that itch. Sadly, neither did Cadence of Hyrule, because I deeply and brutally SUCK at Crypt of the Necrodancer. At least Cadence looked neat... feh.)
Tumblr media
This DID help, at least. It wasn't 'new', but... it really felt goddamn good. Link's Awakening is an ALL-TIMER.
I would pay Nintendo a ton of money to just... take the Link's Awakening remake engine and make a new friggin' 2D top-down Zelda. I'd pay like $200 for that goddamn game, and I know that sounds insane, but I am HUNGRY. Or, frankly? I'd pay just as much for a version in a retro pixel style. That'd make it take far less resources and effort, right? You could make something with a comparatively far smaller staff, a relatively cheap and shorter development... and yes, I realize most people wouldn't pay as much as I would. Especially not for something retro-styled. But so what? If it's a digital-only title that's relatively cheap, I can still guarantee it makes its development cost back EASY without them ever having to manufacture a physical copy. Because it's THE LEGEND OF ZELDA for god's sake!
(I honestly don't know why Nintendo has never embraced the retro pixel art that is so popular with other companies, because those companies are usually aping THEIR damn games. Seems like something IDEAL for their download-only titles, don't you think? A retro-styled Zelda... or Metroid... or even a retro Mario... or something more obscure that people still love, like another Kid Icarus. You could do any of it, you guys. ANY of it. The money's just waiting for you. You wouldn't even BELIEVE how much.)
Since I know someone is going to ask: Yes, "A Link Between Worlds" is the .5 in the "6.5 titles" I referenced earlier, because its two overworlds are almost entirely identical to a world we've already explored in detail in a previous 2D Zelda game. Like, they're WAY more similar than even the land-based overworlds of BotW vs TotK. The changes are downright miniscule. Giving them a ".5" credit for that seems apt, if not a little generous.
Which basically means I haven't had a delicious full-on brand-new 2D Zelda game since *checks notes* 2005!!!!

And while Minish Cap is easier than the Oracles, I still think it's a banger.
And let's not forget that the two Oracles, The Minish Cap, and even the recent Link's Awakening remake were all outsourced. That means that it would be entirely reasonable for Nintendo to just outsource for a new one. Hire an outside company.
Or, y'know, whatever. You could just... keep remastering the 3D games over and over and only ever make the new fancy VERY DIFFERENT things that take five years and never ever make anything like you used to ever again.
But I really hope that's not all there is to look forward to.
