well, I can't say I expected the new chapter to feature Idia (metaphorically) going to (metaphorical) hell, getting a pep talk from his (metaphorical) Phantom brother which helps him finally move on once and for all from his brother's death, and (metaphorically) overblotting again to fight his way back out of (metaphorical) hell, only to have his darkest fear (non-metaphorically) come true when his mom goes through his computer and finds all his secret files. but I am glad it did!
also this is all a flashback for the purpose of explaining to our group what the heck is going on (whether or not any of it is getting through is another matter)

I definitely need to sit with it, and see Imogen herself unpack it, but like...Imogen's met her mother once in person since very early childhood. She's had a spare handful of conversations with her and none have gone well. Liliana has been cryptic and unhelpful and Imogen's been frustrated with her since Yios, disillusioned with her since the solstice, and first accepted the possibility she might need to kill her in Uthodurn. She's already rejected "Imogen, run," instead claiming the storm for herself. And while Imogen can have a self-centered worldview at times, she is by no means heartless or unfeeling, and she has clearly seen the quality of life on Kreviris and, just now, the specific way in which Liliana has made a terrifying impression. I have to imagine it's not hard for her to see herself in two young children who don't have much but who love animals. I don't think she's saying she wants to kill Liliana to assuage the rest of the party or even because of Orym's encouragement (which was pretty specifically to connect to Predathos to gather intel). I think she's feeling angry at and betrayed by the woman who's done basically nothing but abandon her, keep her in the dark, and disappoint her, and after giving Liliana a number of chances she really did nothing to deserve, she's finally come to a breaking point.
