All the conversation in the last couple years about birth control being disruptive to the natural hormone cycles our bodies need as women, having detrimental effects -> makes me wonder about younger women getting hysterectomies. I fully support 18+ women having access to elective hysterectomies since that will prevent some abortions (a considerable number of women who abort are convinced they never want kids, are unwilling to choose abstinence, and are capable of taking extreme actions to end a pregnancy), but now I wonder about the effects it has on the long term health of the woman. Obviously it's still a much better road than abortion, for the woman's health too, and I definitely support adults making choices about their own bodies especially when those choices will prevent them hurting other people in the future.

hmmmm,,,, maybe i don’t like it when people talk about characters they read as gay by just listing a bunch of actions they deem to be Symptoms Of The Gay and sarcastically calling those actions platonic. 9/10 times I'm just "but..... I would do that with a friend. if you wouldn't do that with your homie are you even homies?"

One of the things I keep thinking about instead of actually writing is how to address Ardeth's place in the Medjai after the film. It's hard to get around the fact that by almost any metric, they failed, under his leadership. My impression is that their sole or primary sworn sacred duty is to stop Imhotep from rising, and to stop anyone from disturbing or even finding Hamunaptra.
In the course of the film, Hamunaptra is discovered first by the French Foreign Legion skirmishing with Tuaregs, and two FFL survivors and an unknown number of Tuareg people escape. Then, even with Dr. Bey burning the map, not one but two archaeological expeditions find the site with the help of two survivors from the previous disturbance. The Medjai fail to retrieve the map and the key from Evy on the boat (rather spectacularly and with losses.) Their raids to deter the groups fail and they retreat with only a warning which goes unheeded.
When Imhotep is brought back, he's able to not only kill loads of people at the digsite, but to go to Cairo and bring multiple Biblical plagues to a significant population of Cairo. Bad enough on its own, but I feel like that's the kind of thing that would attract notice and make Hamunaptra even less secret.
When the protagonists finally get around to destroying Imhotep, Ardeth is helpful, but it's Evy, Jon, and Rick (with an assist from Winston) are the ones who really manage it, since Ardeth had already gone into the mummy-filled tunnel to (presumably) die.
Now you all know me - I love Ardeth. But it's hard not to read his role as abject failure, honestly. Partly this is just dictated by the narrative; we're meant to see the Medjai as a threat until the reveal of their motives. Plus, Ardeth was meant to die, which rather obviates the need for any impact on his leadership. Still, I don't really know why he wouldn't at least be asked to explain to Medjai leaders and elders how all of the events in the film came to pass and weren't prevented.
I like to imagine that on some level, he felt or knew that Rick, and later Evy and Jon - Nefertiri, her Medjai and her brother - needed to survive to help fight the Scorpion King. But what about everyone else? What about using Medjai skill and expertise to find the right incantations or go hand-to-hand with Imhotep's mummies?
My story is set about a year or eighteen months after the film, and so my Ardeth is having a big ol' crisis about his place in the Medjai and whether he should still be their leader or stay in Egypt at all. I'm trying to work out what would convince him he could and should still do the job. Right now it's mostly his sister reminding him that better maps, planes, radio, etc. made Hamunaptra's discovery almost inevitable, and trying to make him believe in himself. But as someone for whom self-confidence is extremely elusive, it's difficult for me to write him having enough to keep going.

Ooc: I think my actual mental health is starting to play up again. I've been at my friend's house the past few days and I don't think I've ever cried so much. I'm unsure why but I think I need to go back to therapy. I've always been a cry baby and emotional but not this much. I don't know what the root cause is but I know that I feel this weird empty dull pain inside my chest at the same time. I don't think it's normal to bawl over stuff so small. I don't think it's normal to cry so god damned much. I know with my bpd and audhd, I'm more sensitive than neurotypicals and that my irl trauma could be factors but I'm not going to figure out what is wrong until I go back to therapy because I'm so horrid at figuring out the 'why's' of my feelings.

initial Adieu mv observations:
replete with imagery that references earlier discography (Mutter 22 on the vault, the enemy soldiers perhaps Deutschland, Seeman haircuts, the cage grate/lattice MHB but also I think Mutter, Till's mohawk could be included here as a nod to an earlier style)
the premise of cloning is interesting because this points at inauthenticity and manufacture, a carefully crafted image and the other
hence, my initial thought was this is about the killing of the (previous) self, this is what the clones could stand for. Additionally, Rammstein are depicted as going to 'war', this could be a stand-in/proxy for inner struggle.
The lyrics of Adieu are complimented by the mv in that the video juxtaposes company and isolation. As the group sees the clones there's an emphasis on shots where they face the situation & grieve together (e.g. Richard's (?) hand on Till's shoulder)
However, at the end of the video when the credits roll, each member of the band is shot alone in death, like the lyrics go, which is a nice touch imo
The final shots also make me think that it is possible to understand the credit roll footage as the real outcome, essentially retconning what came before it (the clone burning etc)
The red laser also extinguishes/fades at the end, which made me think of how a soul is sometimes said to fade away/extinguish/whatever this would be in english lol and offers some support for this reading
This imo points to the fact that no matter how stark a divide one wants to make with the past and with previous versions of oneself, truly killing that history is never possible and it will be an effort doomed to fail because we are the product of our past experiences
this is also why it would make sense to include imagery pointing to Mutter (the album & video) as well as Seeman because these are the result of processes that were either very difficult or that Rammstein have been vocal about not liking
In the same vein, I could go on a limb and say the crosses etc religious imagery could be taken as a Zeig Dich reference but this is probably going too far
The religious imagery is there tho and I'm not sure what it means exactly, it could ofc denote something is holy, but it's interesting that it's the present self rather than the past
The Paris Opera House is a gorgeous setting and I do think it was very intentional but have to figure out what exactly it symbolizes here. Perhaps tradition.
Also the red laser seems to act as a connector or red thread of some sort, and I get the feeling that it is connected with the idea of time and continuity
in the same vein it's interesting that it's included in multiple shots as a connector or perhaps red herring, not sure which reading makes most sense
Based on all of this, my initial reading is to treat it as self-reflection, mourning for the past self but also no longer one and the same with that self. I'm sure there are other readings and things I've missed so who knows what it's really about. Then again, authorial intent means nothing to me

I was thinking about Tedbecca last night (shocker) and telling @movrings about my ‘Mighty Clown Energy’ 💪🏻🤡
And the thing is, I joke about clowning but it’s absolutely not clowning to me. My certainty that this ship is real is because…it is. Regardless of whether I believe it will happen or not (and for the record I still do), it’s real to me. It’s real to a lot of people. And yeah I know it’s not canon (hopefully with the crucial addition of ‘yet’) and that canon is what we want and trust me, I want that as much as anyone, but even if it doesn’t become canon, it’s still real. If Tedbecca doesn’t happen I’m not gonna think, oh well, I was wrong, I was deluded etc. I will think (after presumably a fair amount of tantruming processing) well, that’s the direction they chose, good for them, that’s their version of the story. But it won’t diminish the version I see.
And I hope different ships feel the same about theirs. Cause if that’s the way they have interpreted and enjoyed it, then good for them! Need I mention that Mark Hamill quote?
I feel really strongly about this with ships in general, particularly if it’s a case of characters who respect and hold affection for one another (on whatever level) and support each other and make each other happy or challenge and bring out the best in one another and if there’s chemistry then…of course the ship can be real, even if not canon.
And if we’re talking about the above criteria then, yeah, I’d say Tedbecca exists.

One of my all time favorite movie characters is Dr. Sam Loomis from the Halloween franchise.
Tumblr media
He was the only person that truly understood what Michael Myers was from the get go. Dr. Loomis met Mikey at 6 yrs old, after a few failed attempts, he concluded that lil bastard is different, he is pure evil and should buried underneath the nuthouse. He tried warning everybody but no one took him seriously and look what happened..he got out and started hack & slashing folks.
It was on sight whenever Dr. Loomis encountered Myers. He kept that thang on him at times and didn't hesitate to use it.
Tumblr media
One time, he almost smoked a dude that had on a similar mask but he got hit by a cop car and burnt up.
Dr. Loomis was a savage too. He defied orders from the governor and forced a marshal at gunpoint to drive him back into town to look for Mikey.
The situation had gotten to the point that after shooting him like 25 times, Dr. Loomis decided to blow himself up just to stop Michael Myers. Now, that is dedication to the goal. He didn't give a fuck about his own self preservation. He wanted Michael stopped and he didn't care if he had to go down with him.

got blocked by jenna fryer on twitter for saying in another significantly less severe situation that it’s irresponsible to spread information she admittedly can’t authenticate or validate but that’s exactly what she’s doing again but this time i can’t see it (on main) 💀 for the victim’s sake i desperately hope it’s not true. or at least that it wasn’t leaked without her knowledge and consent. like this entire situation is setting a very nasty precedent. congrats f1 you just might scare any future victims into silence. disgusting the way most of this has been handled

still find it kind of wild that I was truly bombarded with people talking about the autistic representation in heartbreak high and heard not a single peep, not even a grain, not a mere whiff of anyone even mentioning the asexual rep?? the guy was one of the key characters in the season. he had a queer romance plotline and got slammed with aphobia multiple times because of it. he had a sassy grandmother that lied to cops like she’d been doing it her whole life. he had a pet duck!!!!
granted, everything i knew about the show before i watched it i got from tiktok. and how it decides what content its willing to spread and give views to is sus at best. but cmon.
