“You okay?” Buck asked, turning his body and wincing at the pain of resting his head on his hand.

Eddie sighed, hiding his face in his own. “Yeah, I’m just… jumpy.” He sighed again. Buck frowned, reincorporating a little bit. “I keep thinking what could’ve happened to you out there.”

“Eddie, I’m fine,” he mumbled patiently. “I’m not defenseless, I know how to use our weapons.”

From across the room, Eddie scoffed, then cleared his throat. “It’s not about you being damn good with that machete, which I know you are,” he said, watching Buck nod in agreement. “It’s about the fact that you- it’s like you think this Camp could go on without you.”

Silence.

“…That I could go on without you.”

Hank, Sanford and Deimos with a Reader who does Handcrafts

Gonna post my old MadCom stuff since people seem interested in it! I didn't write too much back then, but I'll post it anyway and hope for some MadCom requests as well! What the title says! Reader knits, crochets and embroiders in this! The format is different from how I usually write, but that's because I wrote this months ago, if not in 2022! I don't remember when, but it's been a while since I wrote this!

Hank

If you get his attention while doing one of your crafts, expect him to just stare at you for a while. He knows what knitting is, since you can use those needles to stab someone with enough force, but he never really cared much for any of it. So, seeing you do those small, but precise movements has him somewhat curious. If you beckon him closer to check out what you’re doing, he will approach you, taking your piece from your hands and gently examining it, before returning it to you.

While he won’t join you that often due to his occupation, Hank will lie down next to you from time to time, watching you work until he falls asleep eventually. Doing so next to you, especially when you’re knitting or doing embroidery, takes a lot of trust on his behalf, so it’s a rather rare occurrence, but it might happen. Still, sometimes even Nevada’s most wanted can’t resist getting some sleep in.

If you give him a scarf or anything of the likes it might seem like he doesn’t like it at first. As he only grunts in acknowledgement and doesn’t wear it, it might seem disheartening at first glance. But rest assured, he’s well aware that him wearing it would only get it covered in blood, and he wouldn’t want your creation, that you put so much love into, to get sullied like that. Hank does keep it somewhere hidden where only he can find it so that it won’t get stolen as well, he truly does treasure anything you give him.

Sanford

He has helped his mother crocheting every once in a while when he was young by holding her wool for her. Sanford always thought it to be really cool how you can make something so beautiful out of something as simple as wool and yarn. Much like he did when he was younger, he’ll hold your yarn for you, making it more comfortable to knit or crochet for you. Unlike Hank and Deimos, he will try to learn it as well. It seems relaxing, so why not? But by no means is he a master. Due to his strength, he will likely rip the yarn and wool apart from time to time and come to you for help.

In order to relax and unwind a bit, he’ll likely come to you and ask if you would like to practise your craft for and with him. Having you around in and of itself already makes Sanford happy, but just getting to spend time with you without having to worry about being killed by the enemy makes it all the better. If you let him, he will hold you close, lean into you, put you on his lap, anything you’re comfortable with.

Please give him a sweater. Because he’s never wearing a shirt he gets cold fairly easily. He’ll cherish it dearly and wear it whenever he can, and whenever he knows it won’t get ripped. Another thing he’d be very happy with would be a piece of embroidery. It reminds him of better times and gives him hope, especially when your piece of art is something pleasant and sweet to look at. Because of that, he will put it up somewhere in his room where he can always see it. Even if Deimos makes fun of him for it, he will simply lightly jab at the smoker, all the while smiling at it.

Deimos

He’ll lovingly call you a grandma for having hobbies like these. Even while doing embroidery, where you stab things thousands of times, he will snicker at you whenever he catches you doing any of these things. Though, he doesn’t mind that sort of thing at all since that means you’ll be sitting still for a while, meaning you’ll give him a chance to unwind with him. Deimos will wrap his arms around you, leaning onto you or just cuddle into you in general. No fighting, no getting hurt, just watching you do the same movements over and over again.

Despite possibly calling you boring, he does have great respect for your craft, since he can’t do any of it. It’s too tedious and he can’t sit around for long enough doing something like this. It’s simply not exciting enough. But the moment you give him his first sweater, he will think it’s the most awesome thing to ever exist. Proud as a peacock, he will flaunt and taunt his new piece of clothing, especially to Sanford and Hank, declaring just what a great lover he has.

Present him with a plushie and his mind will be blown. He always thought knitting and crocheting are just for woolly hats and sweaters and scarves and all. If he sees you made him a tiny grunt, he will simply lose it, run around the Status Quo base and show everyone what you’re capable of. It doesn’t even matter to him whether or not it looks good. Your hands are magical to him and absolutely everyone has to know just how cool and epic you are.

how was this meant to be more fun for the fans I come to the skills comp to see them get silly with it and advance the narratives of my choosing while everyone is bunched up on the sidelines and this year had none of that I protest

i knowwwww, it's so unfortunate. i really don't think the nhl gets what makes the skills comp/asg in general actually fun to watch. it needs whimsy! it needs delight! it needs unexpected heroes and unlikely friendships! like, no hate to connor because i like him very much, but "connor mcdavid designs new skills competition that connor mcdavid wins so that connor mcdavid, multimillionaire, can have another million dollars" is just NOT compelling. there were some fun moments! but mostly i did not feel the need to look up from my knitting.

the thing i don't get is that they kept being like, after last year EVERYONE agreed the skills competition HAD to be revamped. and i thought last year was fun and charming? not the most exciting skills comp of all time, but i thought it was pretty good! they were celebrating the hometown team! guys were having a good time! but yeah, everyone hanging out on the sidelines together is fr one of the best parts of the skills comp and they took that from us!!!!

Everything felt slow when the hiss broke into the Executive Sector again. Pillars crashing all around, portraits and plaques falling to the ground, names called over screams and hiss incantations. Jesse had luckily ended up win a ranger patrol when it happened, stuck somewhere near Dead Letters, but all too far away from Central Executive. From her.

Jesse had to push through. She needed to get back. She needed to /fix/ this.

Pushing open the heavy double door, she basically threw herself through rubble and bodies, wispy remnants of Hiss long dead. Their siren song boomed in her ears, a splitting headache tearing her in half with every step, Polaris thrumming and jingling in her mind. Her body moved without her brain, her psyche as unwilling as the very zombie-like creatures around her.

What if something happened to her? What if the hiss got to her?

She was all too relieved when the black pyramid appeared in her sight, surrounded by shifted walls and a disheveled control point. Concrete and marble was scattered across the ground, the disgusting mist of the Hiss littered about. Scanning the rubble for signs of life, her ranger team split off, but she kept moving forward. She couldn’t see her- did she get hurt? Did she get taken over? Would she-

“Jesse?”

Jesse snapped her head to the voice, looking about, before locking eyes with Emily Pope across the room. A sidearm was in her hands, either hers or someone else’s, as if used just previously. Her heart beat heavy in her chest as relief washed over her, picking up speed as she sprinted across the way. “Emily!”

Vaulting over collapsed stone, Jesse embraced Emily, grabbing the sides of her face and kissing her. Emily gripped Jesse’s sides tightly as she was lifted slightly off the ground, the two pressed against eachother strongly. Jesse pulled away for just a moment, before wrapping her arms around Emily and pulling her in. She was okay. She was here. *They* were here. It was going to be okay.

Ah, I always seem to hurt my wrist around the same time every year. Maybe I'm gripping everything a little bit tighter because it's the end of the school year? I think I can trace what happened to aggravate it this time:

Playing too many games on my phone (nyt connections) -> Pain alleviated by stopping -> Aggravated again by playing too much Splatoon -> Playing too much stitch. -> Playing too much stitch. -> Scrubbed the shower -> Playing too much stitch. -> Cutting stickers for too long

CONCLUSION: I need a gamer break

#I thought stitch. wouldn't aggravate it too much because picross doesn't cause much stress to play #but it has a different button system were you don't press and hold only click #it's like clicking the mouse too many times; there's no variation in clicking that repetitively stresses the muscles (and nerves I guess)#My left hand was staring to tingle today and ho kay!! I really need to show some self restraint!!#<- SHE IS PHYSICALLY HURTING HERSELF IN ORDER TO PLAY MORE OF A SO CALLED 'COZY' GAME #Got to go to a funeral this weekend out a state which sucks and is but at least I can finally give my wrist a rest!!#I've worked on the ergonomics of my digital drawing set up a lot so at least I can still draw on my tablet! ^_^#But not while I'm out of state.... and not in my sketchbook...

He hung up the phone, focusing on his breath. It was a bad idea to call Doctor Sharon. He latched onto her like a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean, but the lifeboat made you reexamine your feelings before you were allowed on board and Ted couldn’t handle that right now with an unconscious Jamie lying a few feet away. Ted didn’t have time to work through his trauma in time to show up late to Rebecca’s father’s funeral. Jamie needed him now.

Send from the untitled Jamie hides an injury because the team is out of substitutions fic.

Dani eyed him but didn’t comment further. Zoreaux wasn’t going to be able to stay in the match, not when they were already calling for the stretcher. Thank God he still wore the protective mask. Roy would have to send in O’Brien and use their last substitution.

By the way, I don’t know if y’all are aware or not but YouTube sometimes puts up movies for free. Not the bootleg pirated stuff, but full good quality films.

Go under “Movies and TV” and there’s an entire section for free movies. You have to watch ads, but STILL

There’s a lot on there that you’ve probably never heard of, but they also have some good shit. It rotates out, but currently the entire Hunger Games series and the Spy Kids movies are free, as well as Point Break, Donnie Darko, and Now You See Me. They even have Disney movies sometimes, like Hunchback of Notre Dame and the live action Beauty and the Beast. Or B movies like Dinoshark

Just a cool thing overall
