• Side Story 4 •

Pairings: Tetsuo x Kaori/ Kaneda x Kei

Summary: Conversations no one can hear or know except Tetsuo and Kaori

Genre: Fluff and Sweetness

Everyone was hanging out, but instead of hanging out at Kaneda’s place. They all decided it’ll be nice to go somewhere fun out in Tokyo, with not many people or crowds.

It took a lot of convincing and using Kaori to get Tetsuo to agree to the idea. He knew being holed up in a house for so long can be boring and suffocating.

And Tetsuo doesn’t like wearing his Kabuki mask for to long, it can be hard to breathe in it sometimes. Because it seems like they’ll be out longer than he wanted.

But he reminds himself to do it for her, because she deserves a different scenery every now and again.

They all got dressed and the guys rode to there destination.

“So where is this place you’re trying to take us to Kaneda?” Kai asked.

“You’ll see.” Kaneda smirked, leading the bikers. They finally made it and everyone looked up at the sign.

It was an outdoors onsen, one of the most popular ones.

“An onsen?” Tetsuo looked at Kaneda under his hood.

“Yeah, Kei and I one these awesome onsen tickets, at an event we went to. Also with great food mind you.” Kaneda grinned.

“I thought we needed to be somewhere with less people?” Mizuki added.

“It is, these are tickets for a private booking! So it’s just us.” Kei said excitedly, because now she has a girlfriend to join her, along with certain girls as plus one that were dating one of the gangs. To cover the other tickets

In the middle of the conversation Kaori chuckled out of no where. Causing stares, she noticed and then fixed herself. Tetsuo turned his head trying not to laugh.

“What’s so funny, I wanna laugh too?” Mizuki asked.

“Nothing.” Tetsuo answered, before everyone shrugged it off and continued inside.

“What if the Owner sees… You know.” Kai whispered in Kaneda’s ear pointing behind them at Tetsuo.

“Don’t worry man The Ow-“

“Welcome To Momo’s Onsen! My name is Juju Gezumi I am the owner of this onsen, and I hope you enjoy your stay.” The owner smiled at them, they all realized that-

“He’s blind, The Owners blind Kai. So he won’t see Tetsuo. Thank you Mr. Gezumi, we most certainly will.” All of them entered.

Everyone had a designated room, it was traditional but very nice and elegant. The food would arrive once everyone was out of the onsen.

As everyone was settling there stuff down. Kaneda and Tetsuo’s room was side by side, as he heard giggling and laughing from Tetsuo’s room with Kaori.

“What the hell are they laughing at!?” Kaneda was about to check, before Kei stopped him.

“Leave them alone.”

“It’s not like I’m doing anything, I’m just curious of what’s so funny. I don’t even hear them talking, it’s just laughing.”

“Haha, why does it concern you so much. Let them enjoy each other’s company, they deserve it you know. Just like us.” Kei walked two fingers up Kaneda’s arm on his shoulder. Eventually wrapping her arms around his neck.

Pulling him into a kiss, Kaneda hugging her waist. Bringing her closer to deepen the kiss. The kids felt long but was quick.

Kaneda, Kei, Tetsuo, and Kaori were doing a couples onsen. So they four was in the same one, Kaori was very skeptical. She wanted to join but her insecurities were knocking at her door.

The towel was covering her body, Tetsuo came behind her, “Need some help?” He whispered in her ear, with a devious tone in it.

“N-No I-I’m, F-FINEEEEE!” Kaori dragged the last word, as Tetsuo pushed her into the onsen. Before he hopped in, she popped up trying to catch her breath.

Kaneda and Kei came out after, and joined them. They didn’t notice that they were arguing telepathically.

Kei sighed in relief, “This is so niceee.”

Kaori nodded in agreeance, before dipping lower. To the point only half her head showed.

The trio began having a conversation about the place and soon other things. Kaori was still not the social butterfly, so she just listened peacefully.

Then she slightly perked up, turning her attention to Tetsuo. Who quickly side eye her with a smirk, and looked away.

He was talking to her telepathically while he’s verbally talking to the other two.

Tetsuo was trying to think of something that would really get his girlfriend in a fit of laughter. Then it hit him, he waited for the perfect moment

It went into a comfortable silence for a minute. Then all of a sudden Kaori burst into a fit of laughter, to the point she even began snorting. Covering her mouth trying to restrain her laugh, she cried so hard till she had tears.

Tetsuo ended up cracking up, Kaneda and Kei looked at them in shock. Kei slightly smiled, she thought Kaori’s snort was adorable.

“You guys been laughing non-stop. Can you like fucking tell us what it is!?” Kaneda was frustrated being left out of the joke.

“It’s an inside joke you wouldn’t understand.” Tetsuo smirked, as Kaori was calming down. She started laughing again.

“T-T-Tetsuo… S-S-STOP I-It! I-I can’t… breathe.” Kaori face was red, she got of the onsen going back to there room.

“Oh how cute you think it’s funny talking shit with your powers.” Kaneda glared at him.

“Yes. Yes I do.” Tetsuo grinned wider, he eventually got out and joined his girlfriend. Kaneda was glaring daggers in his back.

“Man he is so fucking annoying.” Kaneda folded his arms. It was Kei turn to get up.

“Ha! Now you know what it’s like to live with you.” Making all three of them laugh. Kaneda rolled his eyes, hoping out as well.

“You gonna regret making fun of me!”

In the end, everyone enjoyed themselves at the onsen, and the food was exquisite.

random dumb self indulgent Akira school hc’s cause they in my head but i just need a place to put them down

these are basically my ideas of what the kids are like in school set in the film verse !

so just jumpin right into it but Kaneda has ADHD which is why he’s usually really hyphy and physically restless (honestly i feel like this is just high key canon). He’s never been v strong in school not because he’s unintelligent, it’s just the one teacher to twenty + student ratio doesn’t work for his specific way of processing and retaining new info. He’s very hands on and would benefit from more one on one teaching, or like a specific trade even, but by the time he reaches middle school he’s just so over feeling stupid and worthless in class that he develops this charmingly air headed persona and becomes the class clown instead of putting effort into something that he knows he won’t understand. it’s not until Kai comes along and, bless his soul, has the patience to sit down with Kaneda and help him with the work he struggles with that Kaneda realizes he’s not dumb and his brain is capable of making connections like other ppl and all he needed was someone willing to answer his stupid questions and get him back on track when his mind wandered to something else aside from classwork. he likes science and thinks space is cool as fuck. when asked what he wants to pursue in the future as a career path, he says astronaut (often interchanged with yakuza boss. none of the teachers find that funny.)  

Kai is a lil scholar, born and raised. Is often referred to as the human encyclopedia lol. Has a very good memory and is capable of adapting to specific teaching methods or just reworking the info so that it is easily understandable for him. I hc his mom as being a uni teacher of Classic Literature and Rhetoric, maybe with some side classes on Journalism or Literary Interpretation. His mom encouraged his curiosity and literary prowess at a young age and it helped him all around in school. he doesn’t really have to try hard, he’s one of those ppl who manages to float by without putting too much effort into the work, but he secretly likes a challenge (which is something he definitely doesn’t get at the disciplinary school) and kind of takes Kaneda under his wing as a side project of sorts to both help his friend and challenge himself by teaching the previously unteachable. it works out wonderfully for the both of them in the end (except for Yama who gets jealous of all the times Kai and Kaneda spend together after class)

Speaking of Yama tho, he’s actually dumb as a rock lmao sorry pal I just call it like I see it. He’s definitely the stereotypical “dumb jock”, super athletic and physically fit but like…not the brightest. Which he’s fine with, as long as he knows the basics he figures he’s set! and he is cause his plan was to get by passing grades, graduate, and go work for his dad at the family construction company straight outta school. Kaneda and Yama have that dumbass solidarity and love to mess around during class, but where Kaneda tries to get his shit done after the bell rings, Yama would rather just have his younger sister do the hw for him in exchange for doing chores. that too works out wonderfully for the two of them (Yama’s younger sister wants to be a doctor and benefits from the challenge of “advanced” coursework :)

Tetsuo is kind of caught somewhere in the middle. Tetsuo is also by no means unintelligent, but he finds it hard to focus in class with all the other kids talking constantly (is usually easily overstimulated and has general audio processing issues as well. more a visual/hands on learner similar to kaneda) and doesn’t work well under pressure. He definitely struggles in school but is too prideful to ask for help or even let anyone know he struggles. He has that attitude of “if I have a problem, I’ll work through it myself” even if he ends up getting so frustrated with his homework it moves him to tears and then to throwing his homework out the window. That on top of his general disinterest in most of the subject matter, and tendency to jump on the offensive when teachers try and help him, doesn’t bode well for his education. Kai tries to help him at one point, but even after being friends for a year he’s still too stubborn to admit defeat (especially when this is something he can finally be better at than Kaneda and subsequently lord it over him -lol tetsuo u asshole-). When Kaori enters the picture tho, bless her soul too, Tetsuo begrudgingly accepts her help with the subjects he struggles most with (lit and science. he’s surprisingly good at math!)

Kaori a smartie pants! duh! I hc her as taking advanced classes, maybe one or two college level classes in hs as well, which is why she lives in a dorm with other girls.That’s a requirement for the school she attends. She’s a freshman in her school, but has been taking honors and ap classes as long as she’s been able. Kaori gets that cream of the crop education: smaller classes, engaged students, Socratic seminars, field trips, political, psych/soc, environmental classes. Specific courses, teaching tactics, and subject matter the boys don’t get exposed to in public school. I feel like she would be interested in some kind of community work, or like something that she feels is impactful to both the individual and society as a whole. Maybe like a nurse or social worker? Some kind of nurturing job and ok yeah i know that’s kinda stereotypical but Kaori as a character is so sweet and selfless and nurturing I just feel like it would fit her character. I could picture her actively planning out a future for herself based upon her education…but she a freshie and doesn’t know what exactly she wants to do. She enjoys helping Tetsuo with his work, so maybe she could be a teacher too.

Kei, finally, would definitely be enrolled in college classes early on. Maybe even an early hs graduate. She’s sharp as a tack and too likes to be challenged academically/intellectually . Found high school to be too easy for her and applied for the Japanese equivalent of a CHSPE (california high school proficiency exam which is basically after completing all required hs classes with the required amount of credits, an exam which verifies ur high school proficiency for early graduation). Definitely would be interested in Socio-economics, political science, humanitarian and psychology courses. Possibly environmental science or evolutionary science. I bet she met Ryu through some of her classes and thus prompted the beginning of a beautiful totally platonic rebellious friendship. Maybe a semester or two into her courses, the government upheaval begins and many of her fellow students start talking about their unhappiness with the state of society and the government. This prompts a shift in both the attitude of the students and the attitude of the revolutionaries Kei has recently joined thanks to Ryu. There’s an opportunity to get the youth involved in the fight against the corrupt government and a possible dawning fascist future. Kei drops out of college shortly after inspiring students to organize protests (like that in the opening scene of the film ayeee) as both a battering ram and a distraction from the rebel’s plan to infiltrate the esper’s compound and kidnap Akira (lol good luck y’all).

Top 10 anime couples

Once again, thank you @lexinthymia for tagging me, this wa an absolute treat to do. Again, I’m limiting to one per series for fairness and there will be spoilers for some of these series. I admit some of these entries were based on what happened to them in the manga if the anime stopped at a certain point. Also, once again, I probably went into more detail then I needed to with some of these couples, but lets begin!

Honourable mentions that didn’t make the list: Touken (Tokyo Ghoul), Renruki, Ishihime, Ichihime, and Ginran (BLEACH), Victori (Yuri on Ice!!), Levihan (Shingeki no Kyojin), Royai (Fullmetal Alchmist), Tamaharu and Hikaharu (Ouran Highschool Host Club), Banlaine (Nanatsu no Taizai), Haku x Chihiro (Spirited Away), Hideki x Chii (Chobits), Ayame x Mine and Hatsuharu x Rin (Fruits Basket), Cielizzy (Kuroshitsuji), Shinji and Chisato (Battle Royale: Angel’s Border) and Tetsuo x Kaori (Akira).

10. Hana x The Wolfman - Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki

It’s one of the most short-lived romances on the list, but by God it is so heartfelt! It’s the closest thing to the first ten minutes of Up you’ll get in anime form (in terms of how it hits you emotionally). Right off the bat the film made me care about these two so much as a couple and as individuals. The Wolfman is shrouded in mystery, a lonely figure in search of meaning and belonging, and Hana is optimisitic college student, told long ago to always smile in the face of tradegy and sadness. Together they form a quick bond that is genuine, sweet, and heartfelt. The Wolfman’s death was crushing, especially since we are left to piece together the circumstances of his death, and every scene they appear in together afterwards had me sobbing.

9. Kyoru - Fruits Basket

I have to include this pairing. I watched anime when I was really young, but I didn’t seriously get into it until nine years ago. The anime that threw me beyond the point of no return was Fruits Basket. I originally shipped Tohru with Yuki, but Kyo grew on me as a character and as a result so did his relationship with Tohru. The last few epiodes of the anime pretty much solidified them as one of my firt anime ships; but coupled with the events that happened in the manga and they became an unforgettable ship for me.Their relationship initally brought them joy, pain and uncertainty, but in the end, it healed them in almost everyway possible,allowing them both to move on from Kyoko’s death and find happines together.

8. Rock x Revy - Black Lagoon

I’ve only just recently got into Black Lagoon, but one of the things I love most about the show is the complex relationship between Rock and Revy. The chemistry between these two is insane! I love the banter and dialouge they share together, and they’re two sides of the same coin in a lot of ways - Revy is nihilistic and cynical, while Rock is calculating and always tries to save those in need, even in a place as chaotic and deathly as Roanapur. Their relationship is based on an ironic twist of the ‘getting a second chance at life’ trope for both of them - Revy gave Rock a second chance at life in a hell-hole of a place, and Rock made Revy realise she has another chance to be more then just a drifter in life. Also, that cigarette kiss is near iconic at this point.

7. Nishikimi - Tokyo Ghoul

You would not believe how hard it was to choose between Touken and Nishikimi. In the end I went with Nishikimi because I had keep this list more anime-focused (keep in mind I only saw the first season of Tokyo Ghoul and bits of the second season) and my love for Touken has stemmed mainly from later chapters in Tokyo Ghoul: re. The moment Nishiki said he would come back from the dead to kill Tsukiyama if he hurt Kimi, I knew I had a new angsty ship to worship. This couple just hit me in the feels every time they’re on-screen together or when they mention each other when they’re apart. They gave each other a reason to keep living and have shown they will go to the ends of the earth for each other (Nishiki dragging himself, starving and weakened, to Anteiku to search for Kimi, and Kimi willing to give up her flesh to feed Nishiki). Given the events of :Re, I really hope that it ends well for them, I don’t know if my heart could take it otherwise ;_;

6. EdWin - Fullmetal Alchemist

Edward and Winry are practically made for each other, and it was only a matter of time I started shipping them when I Started watchinG Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. They follow a few of  the tropes I absolutely adore in romantic relationhips (childhood friend-to-lovers, promises to protect, and the fighter-healer dynamic). Winry was Edward’s healer both physically (she gave him an arm and leg and repairs them for him) and emotionally, and Edward has been a constant in Winry’s life since she was very young, being there for her when her parents were killed and giving her a reason to put her skills to use. As the series went on, I came love every scene they were in together (of particular mention is when Winry almost shot Scar and their not-so-equivalent exchange moment at the end of the series). Also, the fact Ed might have tried to match her height as a child by using his cow-lick is priceless.

5. Rivetra  - Shingeki no Kyojin

Man I wish this gif was actually a scene from the anime. The couple that will never be. Shingeki no Kyojin made it clear from the start that it wouldn’t be pulling any punches when it came to characters’ mortality, but it really hit me when Petra died...and even more so when I saw Levi’s reaction. There was a lot of potential for a relationship to grow between these two; for me they had a lot of chemitry in the moments they were together. As per the trend with quite a few of the couples on this list, they were opposites in a lot of ways, but their differences complimented each other so well. Petra was mother-hen of sorts for the Survey Corp., while Levi was their steel-bound, stoic leader. However, I always felt Petra could see the other part of him many didn’t - that he actually cares about his comrades a great deal and has been through a lot of loss - and Levi always treated her lightly different from the others. It’s a darn shame we didn’t get more moments of them together or find out Levi’s true feeling towards Petra, but regardless, I still ship them for what could have been.

4. Takeo x Rinko - Ore Monogatari!!

These two the very definition of ‘sweet’!! I just can’t get over how cute, fluffy, and special their relationhip is. It really helps that they are adorkable people themselves. Rinko is a kind and sweet girl with a love for baking and tall, burly men, while Takeo is biggest goofball with a heart of gold and a strong will to help others.A a result they’re a hugely likeable couple who are so sweet and funny and charming when they’re together. I loved seeing their relationship develop in both the convetional and non-conventional ways of shoujo anime. Also, their character designs just suit each other so, so well!

3. Gutsca - Berserk

I just...oh God, these two! Their relationship is one of the reasons I loved the Berserk anime and continue to read the manga. I love how a sense of tenderness slowly grew between them, and how they healed each other in small ways when they finally got together. After the Eclipse...oh God, here come the tears again! I don’t want to spoil anything in case anyone of you are reading/watching or want to read/watch Berserk (trust it’s better if you aren’t spoiled for maximum emotional impact), but they’ve been through so much and I desperately want them to have a happy ending together (but this is Berserk, what the chance fo that actually happening? T_T).

2. Tomoya x Nagisa - Clannad & Clannad: After Story

The heart of Clannad is it’s characters and the little adventures they get up to, but it’s through Tomoya and Nagisa’s relationship that this all made possible; it is the thread that binds every event and character in the story, including the parallel world with the girl and the robot. These two are incredibly sweet and endearing together, able to bring the best out of each other, motivate each other when they’re going through strife, and change each other for the better - Tomoya came to believe in second chances and see the goodness within himself because of Nagisa, while Nagisa learned to be more assertive and gain more self-confidence because of Tomoya. They’re such a likeable and relateable couple, to the point where fangirled for their moments of joy and sobbed up rivers when sadness or tragedy struck. I love them so much and always will!

1. HitsuHina - BLEACH

This is my only OTP. The only couple that has made me inconsolable after one particular event happened to them. The only couple I have been completely rendered speechless by when I see and think about their bond. The only couple that hold a very special place in my heart. I don’t think I will ever love a ship as much as I love HitsuHina. I have done everything for them that I have never done for any other couple in any other fandom: I have written metas about them, am constantly coming up with fanfic and fanart ideas for them, and once literally sung my praises for them from a rooftop. I can not stress enough how powerful and incredible their bond is: it has survived the worst fo trials and I can practically feel the decades of history between them by just watching them interact. The effect they have on each other is also amazing: Toshiro always endevours to become stronger for Momo’s sake and would do anything for her, and Momo’s bond with Toshiro was strong enough to make her doubt the man she dearly admired. Summary: Kaneda just fucking with Tetsuo, because he’s bored and it’s fun messing with him

Kaneda has started to realize that his his home has become a literal hangout place for people. Sometimes Kei would get annoyed with how crowded it’ll be when the gang comes.

Then chew him out for it, so he had to make something clear whenever they came over. But today everyone was busy, except Tetsuo.

He asked if he could come over to help him with something(which was a lie). Suprised Tetsuo agreed and came over anyway, not without bringing Kaori.

Which he didn’t mind that much, as she was a good friend to keep his lady company.

“So what was this thing you needed help with?” Tetsuo asked sitting on the couch. Kaneda joined him.

“Nothing.” Kaneda smiled goofy with his blunt response.

Kaneda can see the gears turning in Tetsuo’s head. From his confused face expression, that was slowly about to form into anger.

“Waitwaitwaitwait… Before you get angry, as I’m wasting your time. I did want to do something with you.”

Tetsuo huffed scrunching up his face looking up and down at Kaneda. “What then?”

“Sooooo, you can read people’s mind unintentionally right?”

“Yeaaaaaa…?” Tetsuo was becoming confused mixed with frustration.

“I was just curious. BUT anyways I just wanted us to hangout and watch this new movie I bought.” Kaneda gleamed, Tetsuo was still confused but shrugged it off.

“O-Okay.”

Kaneda set up everything before putting in the movie. As they were watching the movie, Kaneda side eye glanced him before looking at the tv again.

‘I wonder what it’ll be like to only communicate in your head? We wouldn’t even have to move OUR LIPS!’

Kaneda started talking loudly in his head, it was clear Tetsuo can hear his thoughts. As he twitched his hand.

‘I bet Tetsuo don’t even know what’s going on and already on the verge of yelling. I wonder if I yell in my thoughts would that bother him?’

Kaneda was still smiling to himself while looking at the tv. Kaneda speaking loudly in his thoughts were irritating Tetsuo.

Although Tetsuo knew what game he was playing, and he was not going to give in to his idiocity. So he ignored him.

It was going well for a little bit, before Kaneda did this unholy scream in his head. Tetsuo quickly turned to him aggravated. Kaneda burst into a fit of laughter holding his stomach.

“WHAT DRUGS ARE YOU ON!?” Tetsuo stood up, his head fuming.

‘Aww what’s wrong am I THINKING to loudly for you’

Kaneda was wiping tears from his eyes.

Tetsuo gritted his teeth, at him

‘I’m sorry let me think a little quieter hahaha’

That’s when Tetsuo tackled him, and started wrestling each other.

1 hour later

Kei and Kaori looked at the boys bruised up. She looked at them with arms folded.

“Should I even ask what happened?”

“Not really, but it was so worth it.” Kaneda grinned at Tetsuo who gave him a final punch before walking away.
