the girls don’t have names from what I’ve been able to find so I’ll give them some (pls correct me if I’m wrong on this) + the names I gave them aren’t based on anything in particular just vibes

and also this is all just based off of my own opinion with no real basis so please feel free to disagree/agree as much as you’d like🫶

• Groupie 1 / Hana

• She’s the type of girl to be able to pull off a red lip look without any additional makeup. She shoplifts all her lipstick, too.

• Lives with her single mother in a run-down apartment, and is an only child. Doesn’t get along with her mother at all so she prefers to stay out late or with friends for the night.

• Has a weird on-and-off relationship with Kaneda that no one understands. They don’t understand it either, and they can barely stand each other most of the time.

• Hana’s the worst type of friend to have – will literally point out how much makeup you’re wearing whenever you’re hanging out with guys and make passive-agressive comments the whole time💀 She’s kind of a mean girl

• Very attention-seeking, especially from men. It gets a bit tiring.

• Really fun to hang out with in small doses because she does get up to some crazy shit, tho. She’s snarky but hilarious if you catch her in a good mood.

• Smokes like crazy, can get through a pack in a single day. Constantly bums cigarettes off of her friends and random boys. Refuses to get buy them herself.

• Admires and gets distracted by her own reflection any time she passes a shiny surface.

• Only shows up to school so that she can gossip with her friends in the back of the classroom and annoy everyone else. Keeps telling everyone she doesn’t need an education because she’s going to marry rich anyway. #girlboss

• Groupie 2 / Noriko

• Actually the coolest. She’s very confident and looks very intimidating, but is a lot nicer than Hana. The type to ask you to sit with her during on your first day of school.

• Always has her nails and hair done. Even if the world was ending tomorrow, Nori would find time to get them done. She’s quite high-maintenance but she likes it that way. It makes her feel put-together.

• She lives with her parents and has one younger brother. I feel as if she may be mixed, like half-black. Not exactly sure from where.

• Is dating Yamagata, they’re going strangely steady which people find surprising because both their temperaments are relatively hot.

• Very stylish and into trends. Her clothes stand out to me the most out of the girls!

• Is the most responsible one out of her friends. Keeps them out of trouble.

• Very outspoken and honest, won’t keep quiet if something is bothering her or if she disagrees. That goes for her friends, for the boys, her teachers, anyone.

• Groupie 3 / Ichiko

• Ichiko… there’s just no thoughts behind her eyes. She’s a bit air-headed.

• She’s simple; she likes to have fun and she hates not having fun. Fun is hanging out with her friends, having one of the boys take her on a fast motorcycle ride, and so on. Not having fun is having to do homework, chores and having to wake up early for school.

• Lives with her elderly father and older sister, who provides for the family.

• She means well, and is often very sweet but can unintentionally come off as rude at times

• Is the type to walk around school talking to someone on the phone and have them blasting on speaker-phone for everyone else to hear. She doesn’t care and will get mad if you tell her to knock it off lmao

• So gossipy. If you tell her something the whole school will know it by the next day. Can’t keep her mouth shut

• She always accidentally falls asleep in last night’s makeup and will just add more on the next day because she’s lazy lol

Pre-War

I think that Kei as a sister figure would work out especially if you are both in the resistance

I don't think she grew up with any other girls or boys her age and the only other sibling figure she has around her is Chiyoko

Would be really protective and put your safety above her own especially on missions

I think her love language is more so on the Acts of Service side of the spectrum

"Have you eaten yet? I'll make you something" "Make sure to get rest tonight, tomorrow is a lengthy mission" or even giving you piggyback rides back to your room if your too tired to walk and checking your injuries after a collision with the army

Tries her best to keep you away from Kaneda but we know that's gonna fail

If you end up dating Kaneda she becomes 10x more protective of you

Post-War

So now that Neo-Tokyo is fully destroyed, Tetsuo is deceased, and Akira is missing, things have died down but are still really dangerous

During the war, she saw how you grew in strength and is now far more lenient with you and how protective she is

Still asks if you have eaten or how you slept - it's force of habit

If you are still dating Kaneda, she is still protective but not as much- she knows you can hold your own against a hormonal teenage boy

Likes to go on patrol with you and she enjoys the comfortable silence that settles between you two

I think she enjoys to stargaze now that Neo-Tokyo has lost its power supply. The stars are really visible and she enjoys to point them out to you and tell you their names and even show you any visible planets

Over all, she's really sweet and she tries her best as a friend and a sister figure albeit never being around any people her age

• You don’t remember what you were doing before it happened, the explosion. Just that there was a palpable sense of loss, and struggle, lingering in the air. It was one of those things that happened instantaneously, before you could really understand it in the first place. And then, everything was in shambles. Your former life was gone.

• Tetsuo thinks it doesn’t matter when he notices you lamenting. A new life, a better one has begun for the both of you.

• He was happy to throw his old life away, and to now live as the behind the scenes emperor of the Great Tokyo Empire, as it had been dubbed. Still, there was this gnawing feeling. You. You were dead, just like Kaneda, and all his other friends. He knew that must have been the case, to hope for anything else was childish and yet there he was.

• But he needed you, he wanted you back. The others could rot, for all he cared, it would be well-deserved, but not you. He loved you, and you loved him, and not being with you was starting to wear him out. He knew he shouldn’t, any semblance of his former life should be thrown away, but you were nothing but good to him. The only one. So, he sends for you. You’re important, and Lord Akira commands it, he tells his followers, along with a telepathic image of you that he sends out.

• Imagine your surprise when strange people break into the little camp you’ve set up with some fellow survivors and just kidnap you to take you back. Initially, you’re happy when you’re returned to Tetsuo, hugging him tightly, and when he hugs you back he knows he made the right decision. He can’t live without you.

• The first few weeks are good. You want for nothing – he gets you a nice, plush bed and food whenever you’re hungry. He gets you new clothing, and whatever else you ask of him. He’s clingy, and wants your affection more than anything, along with your reassurance. If you ask about his psychic powers, and about his long absence, and about Kaneda, he’ll only tell you a fraction of the truth. He has no problem turning you against your former friends, and making himself out to be the victim in all of this. If it’ll earn him your sympathies.

• He always uses his powers to make you laugh. Will for sure take you flying if you’re being especially good.

• He keeps you away from everyone else. He doesn’t want you interacting with anyone but him. This can get lonely, so he allows you to babysit Akira, which doesn’t do much to ease your loneliness to be honest. The only time you get to interact, or see, other people is when you’re by his side.

• Slowly, Tetsuo’s… less then favorable characteristics will shine through. He’s impulsive, brash, rude, and at his absolute worst, violent and psychotic. He has no qualms using a little pain to make you obedient, should you act up and upset him, so be careful. He’s a little bit of a sadist, because it makes him feel powerful.

• If anyone dares to make any type of comment towards you, they’re dead. He’ll pop their head like a balloon with his powers and laugh his ass off when you start screaming and freaking out about the dead body and the blood on you both. You get desensetized pretty quick, unfortunately.

• Don’t ask about, or even hint that you miss your family, or your friends. He’ll assure you that they’re all dead, and if not, he’s more than happy to go out there and finish the job if you keep mentioning it. If you ever speak about Kaneda especially, expect to be punished.

• It’s a pretty miserable existence for you. To watch someone you love fall from grace in such a horrendous way. The worst part is that there’s absolutely nothing you can do except stand by as he tortures innocent people. He’s too powerful. As his health starts to decline, and the pills slowly stop working, he becomes even more unstable.

• Your love, I think, in the beginning was something pure, and good, but now it’s… twisted beyond recognition.

Kaneda

• It does depends on what kind of person you are, but in general, being close with Kaneda is a really fucking fun experience. Most of the time, at least.

• He can be kind of clingy. Kaneda hates being alone more than anything, and you’re one of his favorite people to bother, so expect him to be around a lot! He’s constantly trying to convince you to do stupid shit with him, like get high, go to some random traphouse party, go spray paint obscenities behind the school or play somewhat mean spirited pranks on your other mutual friends.

• If you’re willing to go along with his bullshit, you do end up having a great time each and every time. He loves you because of how you match his chaotic energy. You guys definitely almost get arrested at least once or twice a week. Everyone kind of knows that whenever they see the two of you together you’re most definitely plotting to do something stupid.

• However, if you’re not really the crazy type, he’ll definitely still try to get you to do things like that with him, and you might get roped into it anyhow. Don’t tell anyone, but he really appreciates how level-headed you are compared to him. You balance him out and keep him in check. In return, he’ll attempt to indulge in your kind of activities which are probably way more chill than his own.

• Hanging out at fast food places past midnight is like a daily occurrence. I feel like he makes you pay for him every time, and he always promises to pay you back but literally never does. He’s the reason you have no fucking money.

• I feel like he always has some tea on people? Kaneda is pretty social and somewhat popular due to the Capsules, so he knows a lot of people. He’s always telling you about who got arrested last week, and who cheated on who. You always tell him he’s not one to talk and he always tries to punch you. It’s really funny.

• If you’re a part of the Capsules, he absolutely loves racing you. You two always make bets like ’whoever gets there last has to buy the winner lunch’ and stuff like that. He’ll beg you all the time, but he gets really grumpy whenever he loses so you probably end up buying him lunch anyway LMAO.

• If you’re not a part of the Capsules, he always wants to take you on little joy-rides. I think he would even try to teach you how to ride a motorcycle for the fun of it (if you don’t already know how to do it).

• He’s very ride-or-die with you, I think. A very good friend to have when you’re in some shit because he’ll always defend you even if you were 100% in the wrong.

Tetsuo

• He’s not a bad friend to have at all, I think. Again, it may depend on what type of person you are but in general being close with Tetsuo is less of a rollercoaster than being close with Kaneda is.

• He’s a very good listener and he appreciates someone who will listen to him in return. He likes someone who won’t judge him, or make fun of him for feeling a certain way and if you don’t, he’ll offer you the same thing back. You can tell him anything. He’s very loyal if that loyalty is returned to him.

• He’s pretty introverted, so he likes hanging out with you at home a lot, like watching movies or playing video games. Never let him choose the movie that you’re gonna watch, because he always chooses the most out of pocket, disturbing shit out there and doesn’t tell you just so that he can see your reaction. He thinks it’s really funny.

• He’s a hater at heart, and therefore the best person to talk shit with. Will hate on literally everyone with you. You thought Kaneda liked to gossip? Tetsuo is a hundred times worse.

• His friendship with you gives very much ’I hate everyone but you’ trope energy.

• Again, very supportive of you, even though he’s kind of awkward when it comes to expressing it. Also very defensive, and if anyone talks badly about you in his presence he’ll go to war. Expects you to do the same.

• He can be kind of high maintenance as a close friend. He gets jealous pretty easily, and gets into his own head whenever he sees you hanging out with anyone else and having a good time. He can be kind of rude and snappy whenever he’s in this kind of mood, but if you know him well enough you understand that he doesn’t mean it. Just make some plans with him to watch his favorite movie or show tomorrow night and he should be all good.

• If you’re interested in motorcycles, he would like it if you helped him whenever he has to fix up his bike. Or just sat next to him while he’s doing it for company.

So like he goes into some bike shop that just opened up and he's looking for new tools and he's like looking around and you spot him swinging his head around like a dumbass

"Hey, can I help you?" you call out in mild concern.

And lo and behold, a teenage girl around his age and height is sitting behind the counter flipping through a magazine (of your interest)

Bro just stares at you for a good 3 minutes before you let out a light chuckle and he snaps back to reality.

"Uhhhhhh.....you work here?" he asks in slight hesitation.

Like no way is his fifteen years of life has he ever met a girl who does not work at a cafe or the boutique on the corner run by the batty old lady.

A girl who works at a bike shop. wow. mind blown.

"Yeah I work here. Whatcha lookin' for? I'll help ya out"

The shock's worn off. Dw he's fine now.

After a short conversation abt the best tools to use, materials, ect, he pays for his stuff and leaves.

Your boss comes out from the back room and hooks his arm around your neck putting you in a gentle headlock "Yeah I knew you were into delinquents" He jests, "Shutcha mouth ya old geezer" You retaliate which in turn, elicits a deep chuckle from the man.

A few days pass and the same guy returns but he comes with what looks like his gang.

"Hey! Your back" You acknowledge his presence after detaching from your magazine.

"Uh-huh, the boys needed some new tools so I thought I'd bring them 'round here."

'The boys? Tf-' you thought trying not to laugh. He sounded like some football dad.

"Yeah no problem, I'll take care of it" you walked over to them and stared the tallest of the group in the eyes trying to get one of them to talk.

Clearly they were not expecting a female here.

Yamagata cleared his throat rather loudly and started asking rapid-fire questions about bikes and tools (with a large amount of spelling errors that Tetsuo and Kaisuke had to correct for him) not expecting you to answer a single one correctly

And what was Kaneda doing the whole time?

Staring

Right at you.

He thinks he's developing a crush (he was thinking about you in the days he was not at the shop. He's probably developing some illness or smth)

You could feel his gaze so you turned your head towards his after helping Yamagata to ask if the poor guy was ok.

He froze up for just a second before responding "Oh yeah. Totally fine. Don't worry about me babe" Yeah he's fine-wait- BABE?

You've known the guy for what 2 days? Is he actually fr?

'He's probably a Casanova or something.. yeah that.. I shouldn't get too invested in him' Uh-huh sure. Don't go lying to yourself now

Self-awareness is knowing that you're both falling for each other and self-awareness is knowing that you can do nothing about it.

As weeks pass, Kaneda-or Shotarou- for that matter, (he insisted that you should be on first name basis) is visiting for shop more and more.

At first you assumed that he was just getting the regular tools or even to get his bike looked at by Boss Man

But his visits become more frequent and repetitive so you finally realize whats going on. It took a lot of courage like I mean you have a big crush on the guy (realized after a lot of self-reflection) and he's obviously got a crush on you (words from Boss Man himself)

You two eventually (finally) go out together to this hole-in-the-wall ramen shop which sells the best food known to man.

It's incredibly awkward.

Like no one speaks up.

That is until Shotarou asks about how you got your job and it spirals into this conversation about backstories and how the Boss Man recruited you after he saw you looking at the bikes so intently.

Bros mesmerized at hearing you talk so much. Loves your voice and how it changes depending on how your depict a scene or how your eyes light up when you mention something you love (it's him but don't tell)

After the food he took you to this spot on a bridge where you could see like all of Neo-Tokyo and is so. fucking. quiet...again.

You realize that this may be your only chance that you get so you go for it. You only live once.

"Hey, so um.... I've got somethin' that I wanna say to you...."

"Huh?" He perks up at the sound of your voice

"So like uhh...I like you....um yeah"

So fucking awkward.

You feel like falling into a void that might just open and swallow you up.

"Oh same"

Kaneda

This boy.. is very touchy in his affection.

He doesn’t even realize he’s doing it most of the time, actually. Kaneda is naturally a very physical person to begin with so he’s very casual about it.

Lots of hugs, arm around your shoulder, playful punches, head ruffles and things like that are common with him.

Locks arms with you all the time, or holds hands with you and sways them back and forth like a kid lol

If he constantly finds opportunities to playfully insult you or make fun of you, he loooooves you. It’s all in good fun for him, he’s just joking around, so don’t take it too seriously. He’s a lot like that with Tetsuo, but Tetsuo’s a little bit sensitive and always takes it to heart lol. Kaneda would go well with someone who can banter with him.

Really protective with people he cares about. He feels responsible for you ): Might come off as smothering sometimes??

Tetsuo

He is the embodiment of cat energy. Will show affection once in a blue moon. But when he does, it feels really nice and special. You have been chosen!!!

He’s not really physically affection, nor is he good with words. Tetsuo shows affection by doing things for you, and by spending time with you. It’s the little things he goes out of his way to do in order to make your life a little easier. He pays a lot of attention to what you say, even if it doesn’t seem like it, and he always remembers it well afterwards. He can be a good listener when he wants to be, and knows a lot about you. Any advice he gives you on how to solve your problems is absolute shit tho, but the fact that he listens is good enough tbh..

If he goes out of his way, or even chooses, to spend time with you, that’s how you know he cares about you a lot. In fact, he’s probably attached at the hip to you. Refuses to admit anything of the sort tho!!

And if he doesn’t immediately try to shake you off and doesn’t look absolutely mortified when you try to touch him/be physically affectionate with him, that’s another telltale sign.

Kaisuke

Kai can also be pretty casual about showing affection. He likes to spend a lot of time with you and just talk to you for hours and hours tbh. He pays a lot of attention to what you say, as well.

He takes it upon himself to worry about you for no apparent reason, at least to you. Did you make it in time to that doctors appointment you told him about a week ago?.. stuff like that.

Random thought, but if you take any kind of medication at a certain time every day, he will definitely make sure to text you at that exact time to remind you basically every day lol.

I think I mentioned it previously, but small, thoughtful gifts are his forte. Sometimes, when he thinks of you when seeing something, like an item or a food, he’ll get it for you.

He’s kind of flexible actually, and will lean into whatever love language you have in order to show you affection. If you respond well to touch, he’ll make sure to initiate more of it. If you’re more into words of affirmation, he tries to use his words more to convey his affection. He’s perceptive like that lol

Yamagata

Yamagata shows affection in the way he’s always looking after you. He’s worse than Kaneda when it comes to being protective, and probably twice as stubborn. It’s not that he doesn’t think you can handle yourself but y’know… Always insists on driving you places whenever he can. He’s definitely the best person to ask whenever you need a ride somewhere because he usually always says yes hehe

Puts his arm around your shoulders when you’re out and about for some reason and just kind of hangs against you very often. If you’re standing next to him, and you’re shorter than him, he leans his arm on your head to annoy you :P It’s how he shows love

Rants to you a lot. It’s ridiculously easy to rile him up in the first place and if he likes you enough he’ll unwind to you about the mildly inconvenient things that have happened to him throughout the day. Always asks about your opinion on things. It’s an unusual way to show love, but it’s his way.

I've been seeing a lot of Kaneda content but do you write for Kaisuke? If you do could write what it'd be like to date him?

I literally had to answer this ask as soon as I saw it, I love him!!

Arguably would make the best boyfriend out of the entire gang. No, I do not take any criticism on that statement. Not like he’s perfect or anything, but he’s quite well-rounded in comparison.

Kai is really sweet and attentive, especially in the beginning, I think. Would take you on semi-proper dates whenever he can afford it.

Buys you small gifts really often. Nothing extravagant, but if you mention how you really like this one soda he’ll have it for you next time you see him. Or if you offhandedly complain about your phone charger barely working, he’ll get you a new one. Stuff like that..

He’d always invite you to hang out with him when he’s working on one of the motorcycles. He’s over the moon if you’re interested (or act interested) and let him ramble about the logistics and function of the engine or whatever. You just think he’s cute when he gets excited.

Big, big fan of you wearing his clothes. His jacket, shirts, ties, whatever. Take it, it’s all yours. Is in love if you wear his clothes when you’re just out and about.

Not particularly jealous as a person, at least not outwardly. He trust you, and if anything, it’s other people he doesn’t trust!! Still likes to show people that you’re together if you’re out in public by holding your hand, or just by being close to you in general. He’s not super crazy about PDA tho, so don’t expect anything over the top.

Would like it if you tied his ties for him. Or, even better, if you learned how to tie them just for him lol

Kai is weirdly conflict avoidant when it comes to any potential issues in your relationship, so brining stuff like that up with him is absolute hell. He just avoids it all together. He might do well with a more confrontational person.

You know that one kid in middle school that freaked out all the other kids by turning his eyelids inside out or by doing other kinds of gross stuff in general? Yeah, that’s Mitsuru.

Gets into fights easily, pretty impulsive as a person in general.

A true instigator at heart LMAO. Likes to say out of pocket shit just to start a heated discussion. I don’t even think he believes half the shit he says, he just likes to piss people off.

As a result, it’s really easy to get into random, weird, and petty arguments with him. Like why tf are ya’ll arguing about whether water is wet or not rn

One time he and Kaneda thought it would be a fantastic idea to try and race each other in the dead of Neo-Tokyo’s winter. In the end, Mitsuru fell of his bike and got the nastiest road rash scar ever on his chest and right arm. He still has the scar to this day, but he thinks it looks fucking sick (and it kind of does tbh).

Yuji Takeyama

Chronically cranky.

Looks way meaner than he actually is, tho.

Mitsuru is his 4lyfer, but he would never admit it to anyone. They argue like they hate each other almost every day but they’re always together. Yuji is his one living braincell.

He’s the only one with any living braincells in the entire gang actually, which doesn’t say much anyway…

Well, to be honest, catching Kaneda’s attention isn’t necessarily something hard. The hard part is probably keeping that attention. Girls who are super headstrong and independent do something to him, though…

I can see both scenarios working for him, to be honest? He can be a little crude in his approach, so he probably did deserve that punch to his face. After it happens, and he’s had a few seconds to process it, he can’t decide if he wants to fight you or kiss you. Probably both. Might end up cursing you out and you guys get into a verbal argument before both storming off.

Tries to convince himself that his slight and growing obsession with you is hate, but he can’t. Not really. Besides, it was his fault in the first place, he knows that. Is definitely too prideful to apologize for the longest time, though. You guys might have a frenemy relationship for some time, he loves annoying and pestering you every opportunity he gets. Especially since you’re so girly. Definitely calls you princess all the time to tease you. Please punch him again.

Kaneda could, after some overdue self-reflection, admit that he was a lot of things. Arrogant, reckless, stubborn – but in the end; the one thing no one could accuse him of being was a coward. At least, that’s what he thought. But then, he sees you one day, you’re pressing down on his wounds with a cotton swab drenched in antiseptic, looking up at him through your lashes, and suddenly his heart can’t stop pounding in his ears.

You ask him what happened, how did he get hurt, did he get into a fight again? Kaneda doesn’t answer at first, eyes focused on your face, unmoving. Then your lips, and he can’t stop thinking about how much he wants to press his own against them until they bruise. Until you’re gasping for air.

But he doesn’t, and he doesn’t understand why. Instead he laughs and tells you he tripped, and you clearly don’t believe him, but decide against pressing further into the matter.

Kaneda doesn’t hesitate, most people know that much. He doesn’t know why it’s different around you, though, he can’t get you out of his mind ever since that day. He can’t be with you, it makes him nervous but he can’t be without you either, it makes him feel even worse.

Actually, what makes him feel the worst, is when you decide to give the tiniest bit of attention to anyone else. And so, when he practically pulls you away mid-conversation from Tetsuo one day, you’re taken aback to say the least, not to mention annoyed.

”What’s your issue?” You question, arms crossed, and Kaneda doesn’t seem too happy either. ”We were talki-”

”Well, don’t talk to him! He’s a loser,” Kaneda grumbles, and you know his words harbor no ill intent towards his best friend, he’s just grumpy (for whatever reason). ”Just talk to me, alright?”

”Were you jealous?” You ask, all your previous annoyance suddenly gone. ”You’ve been distant lately, I thought that… I don’t know…”

”Well, uh, y’know,” he stumbles, cursing himself slightly for it. ”Just been busy lately, y’know how it is…”

”Really? Is that all?” You continue to prod. ”You’re not mad are you? You can tell me anything, you know that.”

He wants to curse your kindness, how do you tell someone you’ve been avoiding them because you love them too much?

Don’t be a coward, Kaneda, he tells himself.

”It’s nothing, really,” he assures and a moment of silence passes. ”Uh, you know that I care about you, right?”

”Um,” you pause, taken aback. It’s not like him to be so… emotionally forward. ”I care about you, too,” you smile.

”And I-I, I like you a lot.” He continues and you nod, slowly.

”I like you, too. You know you’re one of my best friends.” You reply, clearly confused.

”Ugh, not like-” he hesitates before covering the lower part of his face, which was an uncharacteristic shade of red, with his hand. ”Do you really need me to fucking say it?”

”Say what?” You smile, suddenly understanding the situation. What an idiot, you think, good thing he’s cute. He seems to turn even redder under your gaze.

”Listen, okay, I love you… Fuck, you happy now?” He says, averting his eyes from yours. ”So if you don’t feel the same, just tell me, alright? It’s fine-”

”God, you’re stupid, you know that?” You laugh, your own face slightly red, as well. ”Just… will you hold me?”

”Uh,” he stumbles, again, as he processes your words and suddenly, it’s as if your old, cocky Kaneda comes back when a smile spreads on his lips. ”I’ll do you one better, sweetheart.”

He pulls you in by the waist, arms somewhat shaky, and he presses his lips against yours – strangely clumsy and unpracticed. The heat of his face radiates against yours and you can’t help but wish you could melt into each other.

Maybe he’s not a coward after all.

Kaneda is fun and he’s also so incredibly antsy. Can’t sit still for the life of him, so after he meets you, the most fun thing imaginable for him is to take you out on all sorts of weird, spontaneous activities.

As stated before, he’s spontaneous, so don’t be too surprised when he calls you at 3 AM and makes you go out for a ride with him down Neo-Tokyo’s streets.

To add onto that, whenever he gives you a ride on his bike, he likes to go as fast as he possibly can just to scare you. The warm, tingly feeling he gets when you tightly wrap your arms around his waist isn’t half bad. Plus, you’re cute when you’re angry, he says, which probably just serves to make you angrier.

He loves food so much, this is Kaneda we’re talking about. There’s not a single restaurant in the entire city, probably, that the two of you haven’t tried out together. He always takes food from your plate, too, just to be annoying…

McDonalds dates at 3 AM is a weekly thing.

If you’re good at making food, any food in general, he’ll love you forever. He’ll also love you if you treat him to food once in a while, he’s so fucking broke.

He lives for pissing you off. It’s all in good fun, but sometimes he might take it too far (something Tetsuo is all too familiar with) but he tries to make it up to you. Do notttt sleep in the same bed as this dude. He’s so warm, which is nice in the winter but super annoying in the summer. He always clings to you at first but he moves around so much when he sleeps that he might end up knocking you down. Also he hogs the blanket.

Makes you wear his jacket whenever he can, the iconic red one. He always asks you if you’re cold, and even if you say no, he just gives it to you anyway. It’s a sweet gesture but be warned, it smells like sweat, cigarette smoke and cheap cologne all mixed in one. He does not wash that thing lmaooo

Kaneda is… somewhat unpracticed when it comes to real, entirely healthy relationships. He respects Kei, probably more than he’s ever respected anyone in his life, so he’s unsure of how to go about this entire ordeal.

Kei isn’t like most girls he’s dealt with (which is probably a good thing). She can tell when he’s being insincere and so, his usual flirting doesn’t go over well with her. She likes him most when he’s being genuine with her, something that doesn’t come naturally to him, but he tries for her.

She does find his general dumbassery kind of endearing, though, no matter how annoying she thought it was in the beginning.

Kaneda definitely pretends not to understand certain things because, one, he likes how frustrated she gets when he can’t seem to grasp a simple concept and, two, he secretly likes it when she tries to explain stuff to him.

Kei isn’t very affectionate, verbally nor physically, but for him she tries. It’s not easy for her to be vulnerable either. I think her love language is more, like, acts of service. She does things for him to make his life easier constantly. Does his laundry sometimes because he can’t for the life of him get it right, tries to make his favorite food for him, makes sure he doesn’t fall asleep in the garage while fixing his bike, stuff like that…

I feel like they have a lot of fun going grocery shopping together. No real reason it’s just the vibe.

Kaneda tried to teach her how to ride a motorcycle once, she was a natural, to no one’s surprise. She might be the only person he’d ever willingly let touch his bike. That’s real love right there.

headcanons for what tetsuo and kaneda's friendship was like when they were younger?

They became best friends almost immediately after they met at the orphanage. Tetsuo, as a child, was extremely shy and preferred to keep to himself, which unfortunately made him an easy target for the other kids. Kaneda was the only one that stood up for him, and the only one that was actually nice to him, so Tetsuo began to cling onto him.

They were always together, you never really saw one without the other.

Tets found himself idolizing Kaneda from a young age. He was so strong and confident; always standing up for himself and Tetsuo – and Kaneda really was fiercely protective over him. Always getting into fights with anyone who dared to mess with either of them, which was probably quite often, I imagine they grew up in a very tough environment.

They probably got into their motorcycle obsession together when they were pretty young. I can imagine them staying up past bedtime reading old bike magazines together.

Speaking of bedtime, I think Tetsuo got tons of nightmares, especially when he was younger. Kaneda definitely let him sleep in his bed whenever he was too scared to sleep alone.

I think it’s canon that Kaneda taught him how to ride a bike, which is kind of adorable. He was bad at it at first but Kaneda was strangely patient with him, except for the occasional snarky remark.

They got along a lot better and were closer as kids, I imagine they started to drift apart as they got older. Kaneda was busy with the gang, or his other friends, a lot of the time and he always had this picture of Tetsuo in his head, a picture of that same shy, weak boy at the orphanage that he needed to protect and look out for. Tetsuo definitely found himself being heavily underestimated and bossed around, maybe even babied, and started to subconsciously grow a lot of resentment against Kaneda.
