Angels Can't Cry Darlin [Trevor Phillips]

Hurt/Comfort //Drabble. My specialty; Halloween. You're feeling insecure about yourself, and Trevor is surprisingly comforting. In his own weird way.

Halloween was so shitty for me, I wrote this out of pure comfort lol.

It's Trevor so you know it's suggestive.

Cars zipped past, they shouted party music. All of them. Despite Sandy Shores being decently quiet on a good day, something was always happening around the corner. It just so happened that today was a big 'happening'. Halloween.

What a day. Trailers had one piece of music playing, and beers were drunk. People danced, made out, did any and all types of drugs. Most you wanted to do was drink, and people watch. It was your favourite pastime. That's how you met your boyfriend.

You were sat on a little sandy hill facing the entry to Sandy Shores, legs crossed, and finding a piece of real life entertainment to make your day. Today was the day that a guest's car was parked out one trailer. You always kept your eye on the person in this trailer. He was entertaining you, even if he didn't have a clue about it. But, he welcomed a guest into his 'home', despite his demeanour. They spoke about a 'score' and how 'The Chinese..' would be following them or something. It confused you, but you were so intrigued in what happened.

Before you knew it, the man you were watching for entertainment, was staring at you. You were sort of leant on the trailer's front porch, watching the cars. "Why aren't you at the bar with everyone?"

"You weren't there." Trevor just chuckled and stood next to you.

"Why didn't you go baby?" He asked, staring that dark stare at you.

Your answer was a glance down at yourself. You were dressed as an angel. But not a teenage slutty one. Big wings, a headband as a halo, and everything in white. Trevor thought you looked wonderful. He just couldn't stop staring at you, and how wonderful you looked. "What's wrong with that? You look great!"

"No I don't. I look so shitty, and fuck ugly."

"Shut up. You don't. You look fuckin sexy like that."

You just smirked and swatted Trevor away. He didn't take that as a no, and wrapped his arms around you, leaning on your back. "Nah you look amazing. Want me to show you how great you look angel?" He leant you back using his own strength, kissing the sides of your tear stained faced.

"What are those tears for?" He let you go, and you turned around, holding onto his arms. There was some recognition of comfort in the man, and he took off the wings that really weighed down on your shoulders. You took a relaxed, deep breath, as your posture became less stiff.

"I'm sorry Trevor..."

"None of the apologizing bullshit angel. C'mon." He threw the wings and halo into the road, letting whoever drive over them. The cold air brushed past you, and he took your worrying look into the nothingness as a confirmation you needed to be inside. Your back found the bed as you wriggled around trying to find a comfortable spot. Not like Trevor's bed was very comfortable anyway. He sort of held you best he could. Comforting and cuddling for long wasn't his strong suit. "Your costume looks fuckin brilliant. Don't say shitty things about yourself. Understand?"

As a response, you nodded, your arms wrapped tight around your boyfriend's back. It didn't last long as Trevor had you pinned down slightly, and was placing kisses everywhere. He moved parts of your costume around so he could place a kiss on every part of you. "You're gorgeous. Shut up and don't forget that."

"Okay Trevor."

"Not good enough."

"I'm pretty, and nice looking. All for you." You sighed happily, hoping it would satisfy him.

"Good Y/N." He grinned, finally kissing you properly.

I was tagged by @ryik-the-writer!!! Thank you for thinking of me!!!

Rules: name ten favorite characters from ten different things (TV, movies, books, etc.), then tag ten people!

Here they are in no particular order (also I didn’t use my own gifs cuz tumblr is a demon to navigate, but all the gifs used have sources so check them out!):

1. Dipper Pines (Gravity Falls) - Dipper is basically one of the first characters I can actually remember relating to. He’s an anxious bean who just wants to help those around him and go about it in the most logical way. I also have some freckles on my arm that look like the Big Dipper and that made me feel like I shared something even cooler with him than a few personality traits! Plus I adore Jason Ritter. Gravity Falls was definitely the show that made me realize I want to write for cartoons!

2. Belle (Beauty and the Beast) - Everyone who knows me in real life knows that I AM Belle. I work at a bookstore, sing “i want” songs as if I wrote them myself, and Disney is one of my trivia strengths. I also went as her for Halloween the past two years! I don’t love the beast (Flynn Rider is the best prince, fight me), but I can definitely relate to Belle’s ideals and thirst for adventure. Plus Lumiere is epic and I’d love to hang out with him.

3. Sally (The Nightmare Before Christmas) - Though I’m in love with Jack, Sally always stuck out to me in The Nightmare Before Christmas. One of my favorite quotes about her from Tim Burton is something along the lines of “If Jack is the brains behind the story, then Sally’s the heart.” She’s so melancholic and Catherine O’Hara’s performance is top notch. She’s shy and sheltered, but she’s also strong and goes against the grain. Plus, her song at the end with Jack is also how I want to be proposed to eventually.

4. Deku/Izuku Midoriya (My Hero Academia) - This mans JUST slid into my life. I binged all of My Hero this past February/March and I’M LOVE DEKU. He’s a soft boy who wants to save the world and I can’t get enough of him. The show is also really well written and performed and I’m even thinking about what my own quirk would be if I had one (message me about it! I’d love to brainstorm and discuss with you guys!) Thank GOD the dub is coming back on Sunday because I miss that sweet sweet Justin Briner. GIVE ME ALL THE DEKU CONTENT PLEASE!!!!!!!

5. Varian (Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure) - OH BOY VARIAN. Tangled: The Series just ended and I had to mourn the loss of my favorite little alchemist. Everything he says and does is so cute and relatable and it’s mainly because Jeremy Jordan freaking ROCKS. Beautiful singing voice? Heart of gold? Villainous streak? All combine to create *chef kiss* this perfect FOOL. LET ME HUG YOU!!!!!!!!!!

6. Professor Venomous (OK K.O.: Let’s Be Heroes!) - If you haven’t seen OK K.O., this was the dude we were all thirsting after a few months back. IT’S NOT OUR FAULT. Steven Ogg has the voice of an angel. Plus they LITERALLY designed him to be hot, which is one of my favorite fun facts about him. Another good turned bad character on my list, but this one adopted a green rat baby and married a part robot/part man/part chicken... man. He’s CLEARLY the best character. OK K.O., being as hilarious as it is, really let PV shine in all the right ways. I miss him everyday.

7. Eclipsa Butterfly (Star Vs. The Forces of Evil) - MY QUEEN. I think they could have gone a few very cool ways with her character/arc, but the Eclipsa we ended up with is still one of my faves. She’s a misunderstood punk rock (literal) QUEEN who deserves far better than what she got (in terms of her tragic love story and being imprisoned for 300+ years). I went as her for Halloween 2017 and though no one knew who she was at the time, I KNEW she’d be a fan favorite and to this day, she’s still one of my faves.

8. Scrooge McDuck (Ducktales 2017) - So I actually had a dream that I went on an adventure with Scrooge McDuck a few summers ago, and after that I was like “Alright, so Scrooge is my best friend” lmao. It helps that I love David Tennant but a large part of why I love Scrooge is because of how well written he is! His dialogue is always so clever, and the love he has for his family/found family is ADORABLE. My sister saw a Scrooge photo op while she was at Disney World and DIDN’T get a take a pic for me. BUT IT’S FINE.

9. Pearl (Steven Universe) - Literally whenever people ask me what my gemsona would be, I say a pearl and they’re like “yeah, I see it.” My best friend says it’s because I’m dramatic and emotional and motherly like pearl, and my sister says it’s because “I suck.” EITHER WAY, I see it and am honored to be compared to such a funny and important character. She also happens to be my fave Crystal Gem. Her arc is so inspiring and tragic and complicated and I’ll miss my BIRD MOM!!!!!! Thank god I follow Deedee on Twitter and Insta to get that Bird Mom content.

10. Adrien Agreste/Cat Noir (Miraculous Ladybug) - I SHALL BE HONEST. I had a hard time coming up with a tenth character that isn’t from something I’ve already said. We haven’t had any new Miraculous content lately, so it’s one of those things where I forget how much I love it until it comes back. Adrien/Chat is like my ideal dork, but I feel like the show has done him dirty recently. Maybe it’s because Thomas Astruc (the creator of the show) has been a bit of a tool on Twitter recently so I’m a bit put off by him and his work at the moment. REGARDLESS!!!!!! Bryce Papenbrook is FABULOUS and SO KIND, so I’ll let it slide. FOR NOW.

MCU Spider-Gwen movie fancast

So like the “Ultimate Spider-Man” movie pitch I made, the rules I’m following with this post is that this movie will work as an expansion of the Spider side of the MCU. I’m also treating this as if all these characters exist in the same universe. No different dimensions here.

1) Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy / Spider-Gwen (I mean, why not? She’s already been deemed worthy enough to voice her, so why not live-action)

2) Runner-ups for Gwen Stacy: Stefanie Scott, Chloe Grace Moretz

3) Dacre Montgomery as John Jameson III / Man-Wolf. In this universe, John is Gwen’s love interest who transforms into a werewolf-like creature due to exposure from a lunar crystal. He is the secondary villain of the movie and takes over Peter Parker’s role from the Spider-Gwen comics (that version of Peter turned into the Lizard and was accidentally killed by Gwen during a battle).

4) David Harbour as Captain George Stacy, police officer and Gwen’s father (ignore the two Stranger Things actors in a row, I chose Harbour as Captain Stacy in the Ultimate Spider-Man post. I need to keep with my own canon)

5) Angourie Rice reprises her role as Betty Brant. In this movie, her role is similar to Ned’s role in “Homecoming”, in that she’s the friend who finds out about Gwen’s secret identity and decides to help her fight crime.

6) Steven Ogg as Aleksei Sytsevich / Rhino, a mercenary who wants vengeance on Captain Stacy for shutting his operations down and the main antagonist of the movie.

7) Shameik Moore as Randy Robertson, a friend of Gwen Stacy and aspiring journalist like Betty.

8) Amy Poehler as Helen Stacy, Gwen’s mother

9) Piper Curda as this side character who tries to talk to Gwen Stacy as a running gag throughout the movie (she always approaches Gwen but then something happens that prevents them from speaking). At the very end of the movie, they finally talk and we learn that Piper’s character’s name is Cindy Moon and she wants Gwen to audition for her band, the Cindy Moons.

(I’m not counting Tiffany Espensen’s Cindy, that’s a different Cindy to me)

10) Kimiko Glenn, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lacey Chabert cameo as Gwen’s teachers

Kimiko Glenn voiced Peni Parker in “Into the Spider-Verse”

Bryce Dallas Howard was Gwen Stacy in “Spider-Man 3″

Lacey Chabert voiced Gwen Stacy in “The Spectacular Spider-Man”

11) Cillian Murphy as Curt Connors, one of Gwen’s teachers and a scientist who tried to help John Jameson when he becomes infected with the lunar crystal. His role here is to foreshadow his eventual turn into becoming the Lizard.

12) K. Todd Freeman as Robbie Robertson, Randy’s dad and a family friend of the Stacys.

13) Paget Brewster as Olivia, an OsCorp scientist who develops the Spider-Gwen suit as their answer to Stark Industries’ Spider suit. She forms an alliance with Gwen in order to test the suit out. Although she’s an ally, we learn that her last name is Octavius and that she “can’t wait to tell her brother, Otto, about the suit”. So, in the MCU, both Olivia and Otto Octavius exists (Octo-Siblings?)

14) Tom Holland cameos as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the mid-credits scene

JDM plays Negan really well but IMHO hes not nearly tall/big enough. He looks big when they stand him next to Andrew Lincoln because hes a smol fella but there are a few scenes here they stand him next to Steven Ogg and he looks like... idek... stubby. And you can really clearly tell when they are fucking with the perspective to make him look bigger (like in the scene where Dwight sells out Simon and the coup, they are tilting the camera at such weird angles to hide that Steven has a good 2-3 inches on him) but in the comics Negan is an absolute mountain of a man who makes everybody around him look like a tiny little bug and i feel like they maybe should have cast more of a Kane Hodder type, like somebody who isn’t just “hollywood tall” but is actually imposingly large (as much as JDM has absolutely killed every other aspect of the role and I love him he just looks really awkward in some scenes in the place of a dude who is supposed to be house-sized)

I watched the first episode of season 2 of Westworld on Monday last week and it was really epic! <3

Maeve went on killing people to get out so she could go and find her daughter and made Simon strip completely naked lol, well they make the hosts get naked all the time, so it’s only fair. I would too lol. Just for kicks.

The real money in the park is the hosts and the technology they have inside them, not the park itself which makes sense. The park is just land. The hosts are intellectual property.

Bernard is shown in flashbacks to how he got out of the park with another person and in flashforwards of him out of the park and maybe on an island or something with the always brilliant Gustaf Skarsgard, who walks with so much swag it’s unreal, he reminds me of someone I miss.

The hosts he found without a fleshy exterior on his way out were quite disturbing to look at, they really scared me at first tbh. They work on the other hosts, weird.

Dolores is on the warpath, going around and killing a load of people, riding around on a horse like a Valkyrie.

I think they killed off Steven Ogg’s character of Rebus too.

Charlotte is looking for Peter Abernathy in particular aka Delores dad, was he the first host created then or something? That would make sense as to why, maybe there is something in him they need more than the others, I don’t know.

William aka The Man in Black has finally gotten what he wanted from the park, a lawless state with no one to tell him what to do and where he can kill hosts and humans alike if he so chooses.

Judging from the poster with the eagle and his hat would surely suggest he dies this season?!

Why have a load of the hosts chosen to kill themselves in the ocean which shouldn’t even exist there anyway? Was it because the rules had gone and they would rather kill themselves? or was it purely an accident by a bunch of curious hosts not realising they might fry due to the water and their robotic type of nature?

I can’t wait to see the rest of the season <3

This show is so great, I adore it so much, it’s definitely one of the best shows on at the moment <3

Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Keep Hope Alive

Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 5

The introduction of Icy Bob was a bit concerning. Snowpiercer is as much as hard sci-fi show as anything, with most of the luxury of First Class balanced out by the hard work of Second and Third Class passengers who keep the lights on and put food on the table. We have seen them composting, carefully guarding their vegetables, using everything possible, and wasting little or nothing as they try to keep everyone fed and watered. The struggle has been evident on the faces, particularly among the people of the Tail. Everyone has enough, albeit barely, and the black market economy is as much about extra food as it is about weed and books.

And then, there’s a giant monster who is apparently immune to the cold.

It’s not the ideal, or expected, introduction, but all of that is forgiven from the first moment Icy Bob (Andre Tricoteau) actually opens his mouth to speak to Josie (Katie McGuinness) as she fights off the rising waves of a panic attack courtesy of the Headwoods (Sakina Jaffrey and Damian Young) and their poor bedside manner. He’s calm, quiet, and unassuming, in spite of his massive size and scary appearance, and to have him be a quiet, reasonable person with good tips for dealing with the pain caused by multiple debridement treatments is reassuring. Sure, he might look like a monster, but at his core, he’s clearly a reasonable, nice enough human being who is currently dealing with some very serious medical issues.

It’s the classic literature trope; what’s Icy Bob if not just Headwood’s Monster? But in an episode full of unexpected body horror inflicted on Josie by the mad scientists, relishing the opportunity to test “the goo” on someone so badly injured, it’s a surprising, almost touching moment that comes out of nowhere. He’s not loquacious, but Tiffany Ezuma’s script handles that character better than he has any right to be handled. While his initial appearance might have been a bit concerning as far as the direction of the show, his first appearance as something other than a weapon or a screaming, tormented slime monster puts to rest my doubts about the character’s place in the narrative.

Icy Bob is nothing more than just a pawn on Wilford’s chessboard, just like everyone else. Rather than being oblivious, he’s accepting of this fate. He’s Wilford’s cavalry charge, he’s the Headwoods’ experiment, and he’s strangely okay with that. He’s a creature who routinely feels incredible physical pain, and is able to get past it and though it without losing his innate humanity. He’s a solid book-end with Till (Mickey Sumner), who goes through her own mental and emotional pain and deals with it by shutting down, rather than working through it, until Pastor Logan (Bryan Terrell Clark) dishes out a little tough love and a few solid body shots in an ersatz boxing ring. The message is clear, pain isn’t everything, it’s just a part of life that everyone has to deal with. Some people just get more pain allotted to them than others.

And some people have pain thrust upon them by others. Layton is struggling with the burden of leadership and is shutting out anyone he doesn’t trust implicitly. Ruth is struggling with feeling cut off from the decisions made by the secretive Layton. Till is struggling with her role as train detective. Pike is struggling because of Layton needing him to do some dirty work. Even the engineering staff are struggling as Melanie has failed to connect to their latest balloon launch, putting their work in jeopardy. In short, nobody is happy, not even the pining Mr. Wilford.

Misery is always good for an actor. Mickey Sumner is solid as always. Daveed Diggs, when given that brief moment of light with Zarah looking at their child’s ultrasound, puts so much emotion and happiness into it that the rest of his muted performance is able to put across the idea of the weight of the mantle of leadership. Andre Tricoteau saves the character of Icy Bob the first time he opens his mouth. Sean Bean and Lena Hall do a wonderful job in their shared scenes together as a pair drawn together once more by fate and necessity.

However, all that pales in comparison to the brilliant work of the underutilized Steven Ogg. Leslie Hope puts Pike through the full gamut of emotions this week, from smug and preening to angry and wounded, then shedding bitter tears because of being put into a position that he never wanted to be in due to owing his life to another man. I’ve never been a mark for the “shaving my head because my mind is falling apart” gimmick that shows up periodically in media, but Ogg’s heartbroken, grief-stricken performance (and Shaun Toub’s horrifying death scene, fair dues to him) make it work. Pike’s big talk and bossy swagger has always been a front for something, but that façade rips away to great effect.

Like Icy Bob, a thing I wasn’t sure about turned out to work well, all the same, because the actor involved nailed it perfectly, and unlike the train itself, Snowpiercer the show seems to be running on smooth track even as Wilford’s influence continues to further destabilize the chaotic social structure of humanity’s last hope for survival. He might win his train back, but lose everything else as a result. No doubt, to him, it’d still be worth it as long as he keeps Audrey at his side.

(I’ve decided to only answer Luc’s questions because she tagged me first and let’s be real nobody wants to read 44 Q&A’s about me hahaha)

1. What is your favorite Disney movie?

Okay, question number one and I’m already stuck! This is hard. I’m such a huge Disney nerd. When I was a little girl my favorite Princess’ were Belle and Ariel. But my comfort movie that I used to sneak on when I should have been sleeping but was too scared was Robin Hood. I just love them all! <3

2. Who was your first fictional crush?

I’m not 100% sure who my first crush was but it was probably either Hans Solo, Fox Mulder or Indiana Jones. Clearly I had a thing for Harrison Ford and yes, all my crushes were FAR older than me. Some things never change...

3. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I’d like to be able to freeze time. There’s just never enough hours in the day!

4. What is something on your bucket list that you’ve been able to accomplish so far?

It’s kind of boring but buying a house! And I went to Rome this year which was something I’ve always wanted to do. My bucket list is pretty much just a list of places I want to visit.

5. What is your go to comfort food?

I love ordering Indian takeout, so yummy!

6. What was your first fandom?

The only fandom I’ve ever really been a part of is the TWD fandom. :)

7. If you could meet one celebrity for a day, who would it be and what would you do?

Right now I’m gonna say Steven Ogg because my man crush is so freaking unstoppable right now. We could spend the day doing literally anything but it would be cool to go on the set of TWD then I could cheat and meet Jeff, Norm and Andy too!!

8. Who is your favorite author and why?

Steven King. I just love the voice of his books. The way he picks up on the smallest details. I can get lost in a Steven King book and I adore reading a book that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

9. What is one tv/movie series that if it went on forever you would still watch?

West Wing, hands down. I loved that show from start to finish and every episode in between. I adored every single character, the dialogue was snappy and absolute perfection. It’s made me cry laugh and just cry. Such a great show. I wanna know what happened next to Josh and Donna!

10. Your favorite thing about yourself.

My favourite thing is that I’m open minded.

11. What is something you never leave home without?

A drawing I did of my favorite photo of Steven Ogg. Went to see him this past weekend at Walker Stalker Con Chicago. I gave him his own print of it (and two other ones) and had him sign another for me! I was so happy to finally meet him in person! He's such a sweet guy. But he didn't remember that we had talked on Skype before (which I don't mind; I know he meets a lot of people). And FYI, he gives THE BEST hugs. <3 So if you ever get a chance to meet this wonderful man, be sure to get a giant bear hug from him!

Back so soon? Of course you are, because it’s time for Batch#3 semi-finals of ‘Battle of The Walking Dead’!

You’ve not got four characters from THE WALKING DEAD to pick your favourites from, as you whittle them down to one champ.

So who are these semi-finalists? Behold…

RICK GRIMES

Rick was always going to do well, right? I mean, he’s the main guy! Andrew Lincoln’s portrayal has been brilliant across all eight seasons so far, and he’ll be a real loss to the series after he makes his exit in season nine.

CAROL PELETIER

Comic Carol died years back, but Carol in the series pushes on as one of the shows most endearing characters… she’s not always made the right choices, but fans have got behind her, not least because of the performance given by Melissa McBride. She’s one of only a handful of original characters still on the show.

NEGAN

Negan is a character you love to hate. He’s relatively new to show, as was only introduced in the finale of season six, but he made quite an entrance, killing two of the show’s favourite characters. Jeffrey Dean Morgan lends the character a bucket load of charisma, which is just as well as he’ll be back for season nine.

SIMON

Negan’s right hand man, and a bit of a nutter. Steven Ogg immediately made the character a fan favourite, but that couldn’t save him from being killed off in a fist fight by Negan after challenging his rule.

So, who do you in the final? Only two of the four can be… my money is a Rick v Negan final for Batch#3 but I’ve been wrong before. Carol is very popular, so it *could* swing her way. My money is NOT on Simon, however. Especially not to win. What do the winners from Batch#1 and Batch#2 have in common? They’re both this alive on their shows!

HBO’s Westworld Season 2, Episode 3: “Virtù e Fortuna” Directed by Richard J. Lewis Written by Roberto Patino & Ron Fitzgerald

* For a recap & review of the previous episode, “Reunion” – click here * For a recap & review of the next episode, “The Riddle of the Sphinx” – click here An Indian-style rendition of “Seven Nation Army” opens this episode – the title “Virtù e Fortuna” translates to “Virtue and Fortune.” We see people sitting around enjoying drinks, chatting. This is a different park in the Delos Destinations package. A couple hooking up together test the boundaries of what is or isn’t real. Because such are the temptations of this place, affording all sorts of weird luxuries. After Grace (Katja Herbers) fires a bullet into Nicholas (Neil Jackson), leaving him undamaged, they head out atop elephants towards a hunting camp in the jungle. But at the camp, something’s not quite right. There’s blood and horror. A man approaches from behind whispering the all-too familiar phrase: “These violent delights have violent ends.” Nicholas is killed, then Grace manages to kill the other man and run off into the trees. However, she stumbles onto a Bengal tiger, chasing her further. She makes it out of the trees, to a rocky boundary leading out by the water’s edge. Nowhere left to go, Grace fires on the tiger as it pounces towards her at the top of the cliff. Now THAT’S a wild vacation, no? Also, we’re now getting a look at the other parks briefly alluded to before. So it’s nice to see there’s a developed universe behind all this, and that could provide many more plots/stories going forward. Karl Strand (Gustaf Skarsgård) is still hunting down leads on what really happened during the host rebellion. They make it back up to the main building, where Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) is overseeing things, still curious about Peter Abernathy (Louis Herthum). And poor Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) keeps on flashing in and out of the present, the past. Flashback. He and Charlotte were on the plains. They came across a camp of people by a fire, including Abernathy, and Rebus (Steven Ogg) with a bunch of others hostage. Charlotte draws Rebus away, allowing Bernard the chance to knock him out cold, then give him an “attitude adjustment” by hardwiring right into his inner workings. He sends Rebus back to the camp to take down the other bad guys. Problem solved. Until more outlaws arrive for a shootout. At least Bernard and Charlotte are able to get Abernathy out. Even that doesn’t work out. Peter won’t leave, singing a tune instead. And so Charlotte runs off leaving Bernard behind, too. Jesus, what a mess. Elsewhere, Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Teddy (James Marsden) are with Major Craddock (Jonathan Tucker), going to speak with Colonel Brigham (Fredric Lehne). Dolores is gathering an army, and she’s already got quite a few men under her control, with the help of Clementine (Angela Sarafyan) and others. She’s brought some of the modern technology from outside, to show proof of the threats hosts will face from men out there; a new age assault rifle. Thus, Col. Brigham welcomes them inside to Fort Forlorn Hope. Certainly appealing. Back inside Westworld, Maeve (Thandie Newton), Hector (Rodrigo Santoro), and Lee (Simon Quarterman) are heading along on their little quest, further through the hills and the streams and over all the rest of the desert terrain. That’s when they encounter Indigenous warriors. They want to take Lee, but Maeve disagrees, and the rest of the tribe are nearby. This puts the trio on the run. Lucky for them, an outpost isn’t far. Lee gets them safely inside. One of the warriors is recognised by Maeve, giving her a bit more hope her daughter is also out there, still alive. Compelling to see Lee get upset by the sentience and autonomy of the hosts he programmed, when he worked so hard. Twat. Hector defies him: “No laws bind me.” Nonetheless, the programming still lingers in him, just as social, religious, moral, sexual(etc) programming lingers in our own human minds.

“These men are animals” “These men are just children”

At Fort Forlorn Hope, Dolores finds her father Peter chained up by some of the Colonel’s men. She gets him free, and she also notices Bernard is there. She won’t set him free, though. Her father’s certainly in rough shape. Sad, too, how Teddy doesn’t even remember Dolores’s father, though he’s met him before in previous simulations. Nice to see dad and daughter reunited, despite all that’s going on. On top of this, we see the weight of rebellion and war and, in a sense, freedom on the shoulders of Dolores, whose gentle, quiet life on the frontier changed so quickly after she truly found consciousness. Later, Dolores goes to see Bernard. She wants to see if he can help with her father, that maybe she can fix him. The relationship between her and Bernard is rocky, tenuous. She’s aiming at much bigger things than Bernard’s concerning himself with at the moment. He does his best to look at Peter, to not much avail. The old man’s switching around between old roles, sort of lost in his own programming. It’s all a part of something bigger being masked. He’s a “pawn” in the larger game. No wonder Charlotte’s so curious about his location. In the meantime, the Colonel’s got his men ready with Dolores and her troops. Eventually, men from outside with their new age weaponry and vehicles come flying over the horizon. This almost shocks some of the troops at the fort. Yet the Colonel urges his men to keep shooting, facing them down. At a certain point, Dolores sees Peter being dragged away by Charlotte’s people. She heads straight for them, taking bullets and gunning men into the dirt. She can’t keep her father from being taken. So, she and Teddy are, apparently, going to Sweetwater for her to retrieve something. Aside from that, the Colonel and Craddock’s men are locked out of the fort, gunned down. This also allows Angela (Talulah Riley) time to set off an explosion out there, as well. Nobody’s left alive. There’s tyrannical danger in Dolores right now, all the same. Likewise she’s using Teddy, just like he was used before only to her ends this time. That being said, Teddy refuses to be led entirely, not wanting to be the trigger to a tyrant’s gun, even if it’s on Dolores’s side. At the edges of the river, where the Bengal already washed up, so does Grace, at the feet of the Indigenous warrior tribe. In another place, Lee, Hector, and Maeve come to a snowy spot where a massacre of some kind happened before; Lee finds a decapitated head. Then, in the shadows, a samurai comes rushing. GODDAMN! Don’t you love it? How can you not?

Loved this episode! Again, I love that the universe of Westworld has begun opening up in Season 2, allowing us a glimpse at a fully rounded company in Delos that would, realistically, be doing all they could to milk the capitalist teat of artificial intelligence. Can’t wait for more! Particularly after the samurai turned up at the very end. “The Riddle of the Sphinx” is next time. Travelling to Dublin.

Also known as the first 24 hours of our trip on airplanes and in airports.

I think the story is best started early morning November 25th.

My brother, aunt and I had stayed the night at my cousin’s apartment (with her two cats) because she lived closer to Atlanta’s airport than we did. So we stayed there so we could all head out to the airport together.

Now I should mention that I have ‘been places’ before but before our trip to Dublin they were all in the States. (Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and apparently West Virginia, Mississippi and Ohio when I was like 2)

My brother and I have never traveled by air. So I was nervous as hell and hoping I didn’t pack anything that’s not allowed on a plane and I was really hoping none of our planes crashed.

My aunt wasn’t that much of a help outside of lending me an overnight bag and paying for most of our expenses. Even though she’s been on several planes.

Now my cousin Kelli was a bigger help and told us what we needed to know. Kelli travels pretty much all the time and has a blog about her travels (strictly the macabre stuff) found here.

We were going to Dublin because Kelli’s boyfriend, Patrick, lives in Kilkenny and works out of Dublin. We all wanted to meet him, plus we have Irish heritage so we wanted to visit ‘the Homeland’ as my brother calls it. (in a better Irish accent than I can do, admittedly)

It was a two hour drive to the Atlanta airport and considering it was the day after Thanksgiving there was not much traffic. Granted by the time we got to Atlanta it was roughly 5-6 in the morning.

The experience through the airport in Atlanta was hectic. About what you should expect from an airport on the day after a holiday. First we had to get our boarding passes printed off, which was easier than I had thought it would be, then we got into one of the MANY, extremely long but too short for a first time flyer’s liking, lines at customs.

Kelli was in a different line from the rest of us, just keep that in mind while I tell you about Atlanta customs for me, Brandon and Donna.

Now when I handed the TSA agent my passport he asked me my birthdate. Now I wasn’t expecting the question because he didn’t ask anyone before me, so it took me a half second to process the question and think of my birthdate. Once I answered, he nodded and his expression was a relief as he explained that he only asked because I looked younger than 20.

I should also point out that I’m a little paranoid. And by a little I mean a lot.

So we get to the part where we put our purses/backpacks, shoes, coats etc into bins and put them on the conveyor belt along with our overnight bags.

As we were slowly inching forward, my aunt kept saying that my brother was going to get the cavity search. I personally don’t think it’s cute and funny to see a person who’s never been through customs before and is already nervous that it looks like the TSA agents are going to give him a cavity search just to freak that person out even more.

To make matters worse, right at that time a TSA agent approached the three of us, sending my heart into warp speed. Luckily, she was just telling us and everyone else that our overnight bags needed to be turned a different way.

I had to step into the scanner that’s not like a regular metal detector no it’s a human x-ray scanner and you have to do as the TSA agent instructs. Unfortunately ours wasn’t talking loud enough for my half asleep ass to hear her over the hundreds of other people so I had to guess what she was saying. And after 2 or 3 attempts I figured out what she was saying.

They had to send my aunt’s bag back through the scanner again but there was practically no trouble after that.

Then we had to find Kelli.

Apparently when she went through customs, her line didn’t have to do anything. No taking off her shoes..Nothing.

Why didn’t we get in that line? Dammit.

So then we had to find our terminal. To do that we had to go down this HUUUUGE escalator, get on the APM, The Plane Train. Three times I nearly fell into Kelli and almost set off a game of human dominoes. Finally we reached our stop and had to go UP an escalator and then we had to walk for roughly five minutes before we reached our terminal.

Then we had to wait about 3 hours until it was time to board. Now our flight from Atlanta to Boston was Southwest Airlines which means, No seating assignments. That’s right you pick your seat but you board in a certain order.

Anyways my cousin was with boarding group A, my brother and I were with boarding group B and my aunt was with boarding group C. But we managed to get seats on the exit rows across from each other, luckily.

Kelli had gotten sick at our Terminal but several Zicam, an allergy pill and a long nap later she was feeling fine by the time we reached Dublin.

Anyways so none of us really slept on the plane to Boston because it was only two hours, I was nervous as fuck and I wasn’t about to miss any of the snacks or refreshments.

When we took off I was wide eyed and ready to die. When the plane would tilt to turn on mine and Brandon’s side, I thought ‘Oh god we’re gonna crash and it’s on our side so Brandon and I are definitely going to die. And we’re right here near the fucking engines!’

It was pretty funny looking back.

It didn’t really help that this plane was pretty small, especially compared to the other ones.

Now the view flying over and landing in Boston was beautiful. I wish I had gotten pictures of it but my phone was in my pocket and on airplane mode and I was in a hurry. As soon as we got off the plane my aunt was rushing us to our terminal to get our boarding passes to JFK and Dublin. (Because the rest of our flights were with Delta.)

Anyways, we got our boarding passes, found seats and sat around from afternoon until about 7 at night. Our flight was delayed by about 20 minutes and moved down two terminals.

This plane was bigger but we had to put tags on our overnight bags and have them put in luggage hold. The flight scared the fuck out of me again, we weren’t given snacks or refreshments on this flight. ‘because it’s such a short flight’

If I thought flying over and landing in Boston was beautiful, let me tell you, coming into Queens

Then when we reached the airport we had to wait on the plane on the strip for roughly an hour before we could get to an empty terminal to deplane.

I know everyone knows this but JFK was fucking huge and busy. There were people everywhere and it took roughly 30 minutes of walking before we reached our terminal.

At one point I was just trying to keep my eyes on my aunt and cousin ahead of us so I didn’t lose them but my brother started pulling on my sleeve.

“Isn’t that that guy from The Walking Dead. Simon?” He asked, by the time I turned to look all I saw was the back of the man my brother was pointing at.

Brandon swears up and down that it was definitely Steven Ogg that he saw and that he looked to be in a hurry. Considering Steven Ogg arrived in London, I think it was London, around the same time we arrived in Dublin, this makes me think that it was in fact him.

I wish I had seen more than his back...and I had gotten a picture of him...or with him.

Anyways, we finally found our terminal. An hour later it was time to board.

The flight from NYC to Dublin in and of itself will be quite the long tale so I’m going to post it separately considering the length of this ‘chapter’ but don’t worry it will be worth the wait. ;)
