Cybernetics & Magic
In a world where Cybernetic enhancements and magic are not a tale of fiction anymore this story takes us to a place where humans are widely regarded with fear, respect and a sense of awe.
For in the year of 9685 humankind are traveling among the stars and what could only be described as wild dreams have turned out to be true. In the vast array of galaxies spread in our universe countless species thrive and learnt what it meant to be a traveller. Civilisations thrived under strict regulations and if they were deemed a to big of a threat they were wiped out not by the intergalactic community but by themself. Atleast that’s what we were told.
Intergalactic politics are a complicated matter. deciphering languages, putting meaning in the noises spoken is no laughing matter. Simple miss communications have started wars devastating countless worlds in multiple galaxies to put it short. Species which ”talk” via hormones or what we would call telepathy exist, species who talk by gestures, body language subtle as a heartbeat exist in the vast universe. Species who thrived on death world as well as paradise worlds. But what sets them apart from eachother? the use of technology or lack of technology. Species who are fundamentally weaker relied on technology to thrive we see this in humans, choosing to alter their bodies via both biological and mechanical means, what we would call moraly questionable they deem neccesary. While on the other hand technological enhancements are looked down upon by the more biological fortunate.
part 1: the introduction. ( i have a severe case of writers block and i am fairly certain my sleep paralysis demon has evolved into shrek and i am very frightended please help)

There’s an idea in many space stories, that the cosmos is a place of transformation, a crucible in which things burn, and if humans venture out deep enough they also burn, and become more fully who they are—that even in the wildest reaches of space, there we are, most pure and dark and bright and realised, somehow coming home. Our bodies come from stars and we find in space all that we are—terror, strangeness, beauty, hope. elucipher - films about space aren’t actually about space

So Venus is my favorite planet in the solar system - everything about it is just so weird.
Tumblr media
It has this extraordinarily dense atmosphere that by all accounts shouldn't exist - Venus is close enough to the sun (and therefore hot enough) that the atmosphere should have literally evaporated away, just like Mercury's. We think Earth manages to keep its atmosphere by virtue of our magnetic field, but Venus doesn't even have that going for it. While Venus is probably volcanically active, it definitely doesn't have an internal magnetic dynamo, so whatever form of volcanism it has going on is very different from ours. And, it spins backwards! For some reason!!
But, for as many mysteries as Venus has, the United States really hasn't spent much time investigating it. The Soviet Union, on the other hand, sent no less than 16 probes to Venus between 1961 and 1984 as part of the Venera program - most of them looked like this!
Tumblr media
The Soviet Union had a very different approach to space than the United States. NASA missions are typically extremely risk averse, and the spacecraft we launch are generally very expensive one-offs that have only one chance to succeed or fail.
It's lead to some really amazing science, but to put it into perspective, the Mars Opportunity rover only had to survive on Mars for 90 days for the mission to be declared a complete success. That thing lasted 15 years. I love the Opportunity rover as much as any self-respecting NASA engineer, but how much extra time and money did we spend that we didn't technically "need" to for it to last 60x longer than required?
Anyway, all to say, the Soviet Union took a more incremental approach, where failures were far less devastating. The Venera 9 through 14 probes were designed to land on the surface of Venus, and survive long enough to take a picture with two cameras - not an easy task, but a fairly straightforward goal compared to NASA standards. They had…mixed results.
Venera 9 managed to take a picture with one camera, but the other one's lens cap didn't deploy.
Venera 10 also managed to take a picture with one camera, but again the other lens cap didn't deploy.
Venera 11 took no pictures - neither lens cap deployed this time.
Venera 12 also took no pictures - because again, neither lens cap deployed.
Lotta problems with lens caps.
For Venera 13 and 14, in addition to the cameras they sent a device to sample the Venusian "soil". Upon landing, the arm was supposed to swing down and analyze the surface it touched - it was a simple mechanism that couldn't be re-deployed or adjusted after the first go.
This time, both lens caps FINALLY ejected perfectly, and we were treated to these marvelous, eerie pictures of the Venus landscape:
Tumblr media
However, when the Venera 14 soil sampler arm deployed, instead of sampling the Venus surface, it managed to swing down and land perfectly on….an ejected lens cap.

There's an alien asleep on the Justice League Watchtower. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, however the alien is on the outside of the Tower and wrapped around it like a snake.
They're huge.
They look like a merman, with scales and a beautiful tail. The scales are black with glittering white ridges, and from the face there are vibrantly glowing spots that look like freckles.
No one wants to really...disturb them?
They're just sleeping. They aren't doing anything bad, and the Tower has a capability to correct itself and compensate for the added weight.
Or: Danny's ghost form has morphed with puberty to fit his aspect; he's a space whale. Sort of. Also he wants to nap, and that space station looks sturdy enough to make sure he doesn't accidentally float too far away from Earth.

"What if I'm not trans, what if I'm choosing to be trans for [list of reasons]"
I am grabbing you by the shoulders and shaking you like a can of soda. If, for whatever reason, you looked within yourself and decided to be trans - you're still trans. We (as trans people) don't need to have an "I always knew" story. We don't need to have the ~magical transsexual gene~. It's incredibly hard for so many of us to figure out why we're trans, and if being trans was always a choice, the reasons for choosing to be trans would be complex. If being trans is always a choice, that doesn't negate that we deserve human dignity and respect for who we are.
It shouldn't matter if you chose your trans identity or not, becayse you still are a person. You breath the same air I do, and you deserve to live how you want, on your terms. You watch the same sunrises and sunsets I do, you are here. I, for one, welcome you no matter what your inner reflections are about your transness. You have a place in this world, you have inherent worth.

Clone
~
Danny has heard about Superman's dislike for his clone,
Dead men do tell tales.
Danny grows angry with Superman,
There he was showing hate to his clone, his flesh, his blood,
Conner wasn't in the wrong,
He was just a child
He didn't ask to be created this way.
Danny hated Clark Kent
More and more with each story he heard from the ghosts around him, Danny knew what it was like to be cloned to feel that violation of his person, but he could never hate Ellie,
His clone
His cousin
His sister
His daughter
His family
She was precious to him and her being a clone would never lower the amount of love he held towards her.
So to see this hero, this adult, not give two shits about Conner?
Oh that burned
So he decided to do something about it, If Superman didn't want Conner then he would take him, show him the love and care that should have been his from the very beginning from what should have been his own family.
Danny could teach him more about Krypton than Superman could ever wish to know, show him his birthright.
~
Danny & Ellie on their way to surprise adopt Conner: "New family, new family~!"
Connor: "Why do I feel like something very important is going to happen?"
~
Superman feeling like he's being followed
The Krypton ghosts following him around being disappointed in him, and going back to the King to tell him all the things he's done.
~
The Justice League summoning King Phantom
Danny takes one look at Superman and is ready to give him the beating of his life
Danny: "You want a deal? Sure! In return for it I want 20 minutes alone with Supes over there, no reason why!
~
Danny seeing Superman after another ghost told him how bad he's been treating Conner:

The defintion of hell is knowing a show is incredibly well-received in its first season, but if people don’t become machines churning out tweets, content, and rewatching 24/7, there’s no likelihood it’ll get a chance to tell its whole story. This shit is madness. Shows in different genres shouldn’t have to pit-battle for dominance. First seasons are MEANT to be baselines establishing worlds and characters, not complete storylines. The idea that this golden age of television has turned into “get it done in one or get out” is revolting.

Dani knows her options as a homeless runaway are limited. So, sometimes, she likes to leave it. The entire planet, that is.
She likes exploring space. There's so many alien cultures, and as a ghost she can travel very fast. After all, why would a ghost need to obey the laws of physics or thermodynamics?
Small problem though.
She came across a spaceship full of weird goods. It apparently belonged to some merchants, and she was having a little fun digging through their stuff. She didn't know what half of it was, but it looked cool!
The problem happened when she phased through a really weird, super reinforced crate; and found slaves.
Naturally, she freed them. Since none of them had any real combat training, she led the charge to take over the ship and kick the merchant slavers out.
Things...spitballed.
She accidentally got labeled as a Space Pirate, and is wanted by the Lantern Corp.
So why not live up to it?
While Danny and Dan get their educations and do boring hero and everyday life stuff, Dani become one of the most notorious pirates in space. She targets merchant ships and checks for slaves, and if there are any she forces the merchants out in the emergency exit pods and steals their ship.
It's gotten to the point where in just three years, she has a fleet.
She just wears a helmet so that Vlad or Danny or Dan or the GIW doesn't get any ideas and try to hunt her.
Then she gets word about a huge attack on Earth.
And, well...she's from Earth. She may be a wanted criminal, but she isn't about to forget where she came from!
She routes her fleet behind the enemy and launches a surprise attack. She has her people choose their favorite Earth hero and wear their symbol, so that Earth knows who to shoot at and who's trying to help.
Because of the magic users she knows the Justice League has, she can't go ghost around the magicky ones or they'll mess up her groove.
She grabs the heroes, escorts them to the Watchtower, gets in a fight, and is forced to remove her helmet.
The heroes manage to finally activate Earth's defense system.
Meanwhile, Dani finds herself face to face with a Green Lantern, who did have his ring aimed at her, but it's starting to dip to the floor.
"...You can't be older than fifteen. You're a kid?"
"You're...one of Bruce's kids?" Superman asks, voice strained.
Dani decides she doesn't want to deal with this.
Dani drops a smoke bomb/flashbang and books it; she has a ship to get back to.
