One thing I always find weird is how much people seem to treat it like fact that Skywynne was pressured to have Solaria by the people of Mewni because they didn’t want Jushtin to be ruler after her.
Because I read the Magic Book of Spells, and I always felt like Skywynne had gotten pregnant with Solaria on purpose....because while she did love Jushtin, I’m sure, she realized she couldn’t trust him with the book after he apparently left it in a bin where they dump the waste from the warnicorns in the stable. And Skywynne’s own chapter makes it clear how much she cares about the Spellbook, both the one that burned when she was supposed to get the Wand, as well as the one we all know, which she actually created.
So, I really do think she decided to have another child in the hopes of it being a girl, because that meant she’d have the Book back for almost another fifteen years, and, in her eyes, that meant the book would be safe.

Maystery Monday #5: Underestimated
So today the queen poems from Star vs came to mind.
We have classics like
Tick tock, the clock talks
But secret are its powers
The only one to break its spell
Was Skywynne, Queen of Hours
Important poems, like
Eclipsa Queen of Mewni
To a Mewman king was wed
But took a monster for her love
And Away from Mewni fled
And new ones, like
The immortal monster
Will long be haunted
By the darkest spell
Of Moon the Undaunted
But I noticed something.
Star's poem says
Star the Underestimated
Was queen for just four days
Her one decision on the throne
To give it all away
And that got me thinking. This wasn't the only time Star was underestimated. From The Banagic Incident:
Marco: Sorry, I underestimated you.
Star: You... underestimated me?
Marco: Ehmmmm, yeah, I did. Sorry. This stuff looks delicious though!
Star pushes the ice cream out of his hands
Marco: Why did you --
Star: There was a fly on it.
She's not the only one either. In the Amphibia episode All In!, Andrias tells Anne that "From the moment you walked into my throne room, I underestimated you."
And there are several points in Gravity Falls where Dipper and Mabel are severely underestimated. Instances that come to mind include
Headhunters, where nobody believes Dipper can solve the case of the murder of Wax Stan
Irrational Treasure, where nobody (including Dipper) believes Mabel can solve the case of the true founder of Gravity Falls
Gideon Rises, where Gideon doesn't believe Dipper can stop him without his journal
And Weirdmageddon III, where Stan doesn't believe the Mystery Shack Gang can (or should) save Ford
I'll also throw in The Stanchurian Candidate where Dipper tells Stan "We don't think you can do it" and he proceeds to (almost) win on his own
So in short: to be a protagonist in a modern cartoon, you must be underestimated.
And I'm sure this trend also shows up in other shows, but these are the only examples I can think of right now.

Why I Think The Royal Magic Wand Took The Form That It Did For Some Of The Past Rulers Of Mewni
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok. Here I’ll be going over my thoughts on why the Royal Magic Wand took the form that it did for some of the past rulers of Mewni. As shown in the episode ‘Star Comes To Earth’, the Royal Magic Wand takes a different form depending on who is wielding it. So, I’ll be going over some of the rulers of Mewni and how each of their version of the Royal Magic Wand corresponds to each of them. Also, Spoiler Alert for the Star VS The Forces Of Evil TV series and the Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
Tumblr media
I think that the reason why Queen Skywynne’s version of the Royal Magic Wand had a clock on it is pretty self-explanatory. After all, as shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Skywynne had quite a few spells that manipulate time. And as also shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Skywynne saw time as an infinite paradox when she first grabbed the Royal Magic Wand. So, that probably also caused it to have a clock motif. Queen Skywynne’s version of the Royal Magic Wand also had black onyx crystal that made up the hands on its clock and black onyx crystal also partly powers Queen Skywynne’s version of the Royal Magic Wand as shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter. I heard that the color black is sometimes associated with regeneration and new beginnings which makes it fitting for Queen Skywynne since, as stated in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter, she was the first queen to write in the new Magic Book Of Spells since the old one was also destroyed in a fire and, despite the loss of almost all the knowledge of magic from her ancestors, created some really powerful spells like the Infuriating Repeater spell which helped construct a new and better version of Butterfly Castle after the old version was destroyed in said fire. I think that’s pretty much regeneration from the destruction of almost all the knowledge from Queen Skywynne’s ancestors and the destruction of the old version of Butterfly Castle. And it marked a new beginning for the Butterfly family just like how the hands on a clock mark the time of the day. Queen Skywynne persevered through that fearful and dark time which makes it fitting that black onyx crystal helps to power her wand since I heard that black onyx crystal is associated with overcoming overwhelming fears and worries. As shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter, Queen Skywynne’s wand also had ringing bells on it that make a sound that could only be heard by dogs, ferrets and pig-goats. I think that’s fitting since, as shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter, Skywynne is loyal to her kingdom just like how a dog is loyal to their owner, is intelligent just like a ferret and has an immense desire to learn more about magic spells just like how a pig-goat, as shown in the Moon The Undaunted chapter, has an immense desire for food. And I think the ringing bells on top of the clock on Queen Skywynne’s wand are also fitting because just like how an alarm clock rings to signal a person to wake up, the kingdom of Mewni rang its bell to signal Queen Skywynne to stay awake to serve it and Skywynne did just that by not following her lazy mother’s example as shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter.
Tumblr media
As shown in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Jushtin’s version of the Royal Magic Wand is a pink and white striped cane with a living alligator head and a heart with wings on it. And as also shown in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter, Jushtin was pretty upbeat. I think that the pink and white striped cane part of Jushtin’s wand was a nod to how upbeat Jushtin was. After all, the pink and white striped cane does kinda look like a candy cane and candy canes seem to convey cheerfulness and optimism. As for the living alligator head, I think that came from the fact that Jushtin is, as shown in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter, very loyal to his family and to his kingdom. After all, as stated in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter, the living alligator head on Jushtin’s wand never bites their Jushtin since he’s their ‘dad’ and they love him. And I think the heart with wings came from Jushtin’s love for the people around him. After all, as shown in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter, Jushtin loved his mother Skywynne, his math tutor and his “Boy-Prince Cru”.
Tumblr media
As shown in the Solaria The Monster Carver chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Solaria’s version of the Royal Magic Wand is a sword that harnesses aggression. I think the reason for that is so obvious that I don’t think it has to be explained that much. After all, as shown in the Solaria The Monster Carver chapter, Solaria seems to love fighting and is also extremely aggressive to the point of taking cruel enjoyment out of the deaths of monsters.
Tumblr media
As shown in the Eclipsa The Queen Of Darkness chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Eclipsa’s version of the Royal Magic Wand is an umbrella. I think the reason why that is the case is because of how Eclipsa coped with her trauma. As shown in the episode ‘Moon The Undaunted’, Eclipsa was frozen in a crystal for generations. Also, as shown in the episode ‘Butterfly Trap’, Eclipsa was labeled as evil for marrying a monster named Globgor and Eclipsa’s daughter Meteora was taken away from her after she was frozen in that crystal. So, Eclipsa has suffered quite a lot over the course of her life. But, despite that, Eclipsa seems pretty calm and optimistic. For example, as shown in the episode ‘Stranger Danger’, Eclipsa seemed pretty calm despite everything that she’s been through. Picture Eclipsa’s trauma as a rainstorm and Eclipsa’s rather surprising ability to cope with it as an umbrella. The proverbial umbrella that is Eclipsa’s ability to cope with her trauma helped to at least more or less persevere through the proverbial rainstorm that is her trauma. So, I think that Eclipsa’s wand taking the form of an umbrella symbolized her ability to cope with her trauma.
Tumblr media
As shown in Crescenta The Eager chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Crescenta has quite an overinflated ego and, if her spells are any indication, seemed to have a screw loose. That makes it quite ironic that Crescenta’s version of the Royal Magic Wand has 3 hearts on it. One heart made of ruby. One heart with a ribbon wrapped around it. And one heart right above the crystal heart. In the Crescenta The Eager chapter, Crescenta claimed that a heart on her wand meant that she had a big heart and truly wanted to help her kingdom. But given that, as also shown in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, Crescenta not only had an oversized ego but also came up with the Monster Arm spell and a spell to turn her sister into a wolf, I doubt that’s the case. So, I think those 3 hearts on Crescenta’s wand mean something else. Here’s a metaphor to explain what I think the ruby heart means. Crescenta had a heart frozen in ruby. As everyone knows, a frozen heart is a metaphor used to describe someone who is apathetic and detached from the people around them. And like I pointed out, Crescenta came up with spells like the Monster Arm spell and a spell to turn her sister into a wolf. So, in that regard, Crescenta definitely has a frozen heart. As for the part about Crescenta’s heart being frozen in ruby, I think that reflects Crescenta’s ego and pride. After all, just like how a ruby can gleam in the light, Crescenta likes to gleam in the spotlight. There’s also something else I noticed about the crystal heart on Crescenta’s wand. It’s on a purple heart and around that, an outline of a yellow heart. I heard that the color purple is associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power and ambition which corresponds well with Crescenta’s personality since, as shown in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, she had an ambitious desire to become queen. I also heard that the color yellow is associated with joy and happiness which corresponds disturbingly well with how Crescenta, as also shown in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, used a spell on herself to remove all negativity from her mind in order to stay optimistic and cheerful. In this regard, I also think it’s fitting that the outline of the yellow heart is around the purple heart since, as shown in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, the reason why Crescenta used that spell on herself to remove all the negativity from her mind and stay cheerful was in order to help prepare herself for her royal duties and thus fulfill her ambitions as a royal. That means that Crescenta’s desire to be happy and cheerful was a byproduct of her ambitions as a royal. And I think the reason why the ruby heart is in the center of the purple heart and the yellow heart is because the crystal heart, as I explained earlier, reflects Crescenta’s desire to be in the spotlight which is right in the center of and also what sparked Crescenta’s ambitions as a royal that the purple heart reflects which then sparked Crescenta’s desire to be happy and cheerful that the yellow heart reflects. Also, there’s another heart right above the ruby heart, the purple heart and the yellow heart. I think that heart reflects how much Crescenta puts her heart into her exploits in order to fulfill her desires and ambitions. After all, as stated in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, while Crescenta does indeed have an overinflated ego, she at least works hard to get to where she is partly because she did join the Junior Castle Guard in order to keep watch over the castle during the night. There’s also one more heart with a ribbon-like bow right below the ruby heart, the purple heart and the yellow heart. I think that heart with the ribbon-like bow around it reflects Crescenta’s love for her status. Ironically, I also think that’s why there are swan feathers attached to the heart with the ribbon-like bow. I heard that swan feathers are sometimes considered a warning that something is out of balance. I think that’s fitting because, while status and power are good and all, they can’t love a person back.
Tumblr media
As shown in the Comet The Chef chapter of the Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Comet loved cooking and making food. I think that makes it fitting that Queen Comet’s wand crystal was, as stated in the Comet The Chef chapter, made of a type of quartz called Baker’s Quartz since I heard that quartz is a great countertop material for those who like to cook and bake. I think Comet loving to cook and make food also makes it fitting that her wand handle, as also stated in the Comet The Chef chapter, was a rolling dowel which is a tool for making food. And as stated in the Comet The Chef chapter, Comet’s wand also had hearts and angel-like wings on it. I think that represents how Comet, as shown in the Comet The Chef chapter, was very kind to the point that she wanted to make peace with all of monster kind. That’s very impressive considering the fact that, as far as recorded Mewni history is concerned, Comet was the only royal besides Queen Eclipsa and Star Butterfly who wanted to do so.
Tumblr media
As shown in the Moon The Undaunted chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Moon used to be pretty optimistic and happy but then was deeply traumatized by the death of her mother. And as also shown in the Moon The Undaunted chapter, the crystal on Moon’s wand was heart-shaped and a type of crystal from the Crystal Dimension that was almost indestructible. I think that’s fitting since Moon’s heart used to be full of happiness and optimism before then being hardened by the death of her mother. I think that the fact that it was an almost indestructible type of crystal represented just how hardened Moon’s heart was. After all, Moon’s heart was hardened to the point that, as shown in the episode ‘Mr. Candle Cares’, when Star asked Moon: “Are you happy?”, Moon responded with: “Happy? What difference does that make?”. And as stated in the Moon The Undaunted chapter, Moon’s wand handle was made of Snakewood, a material that’s found in the Neverzone, a region in Dimension X-103. And as shown in the episode ‘Running With Scissors’, time in Dimension X-103 flows differently to the point that 16 years in Dimension X-103 and, by extension, the Neverzone equals 8 minutes on Earth which caused Marco Diaz to become an adult while he was there whereas all of his friends on Earth were still teenagers. I think this is a nod to how Moon, as shown in the episode ‘Moon The Undaunted’, was forced to, at least metaphorically, grow up as if she were an adult despite the fact that she was still a teenager at the time.
Tumblr media
As shown in the Star The Underestimated chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Star’s version of the Royal Magic Wand has what seems to be one star on top of another one with 5 hearts around it. And as shown in the episode ‘Star Comes To Earth’, Star is incredibly optimistic and is an extremely passionate person. So, I think the star represents Star’s optimism since, as probably knows, looking to the stars is sometimes associated with feeling hope and the 5 hearts represent Star’s passion since being passionate about something means, metaphorically speaking, pouring your heart into it. I think this might also explain why Star can be so chaotic sometimes which was something that was demonstrated in the episode ‘Star VS. Echo Creek’ where Star got into a sugar rush and accidentally destroyed a police car. After all, having too much of the hopes and dreams of an optimist combined with too much of the heart and drive of a passionate person could cause someone to have so much heart and drive to achieve their hopes and dreams that they might take things too far. There’s also a butterfly with a couple of angel-like wings right next to it. I heard that butterflies symbolize change and transformation. So, I think that represents how Star changed when it came to her view of monster-kind. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Lobster Claws’, Star used to think that monsters were nothing but evil but as shown in the episode ‘Mewnipendence Day’, Star’s view on monsters changed to the point that she let Buff-Frog go and later gave him some corn. And I think the angel-like wings represent the kindness Star showed as a result. Also, I think that Star’s wand crystal being yellow represents Star’s optimism. As I said earlier, Star is pretty optimistic and as I also said earlier, I heard that the color yellow is sometimes associated with happiness.
Well, that’s all for this post.
See you all next time.

•[Toffee’s Timeline]•
It’s Been Five Years Since The Battle For Mewni
That means it’s been five years since Toffee died. In honor of his memory (and because he’s the protagonist of my AU), I present to you all his timeline (with as little spoilers as possible)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note: Septarians age a lot differently than Mewmans and other monsters, so keep that in mind when reading—
** Continue Reading for Detailed Timeline **
Tumblr media
Baby/Child Toffee, ~0-11
Torrence Ambrose of Septarsis was hatched during the reign of Skywynne, Queen of Hours, to his mother Mylanie. To put it simply, she’s a peacemaker who is one of the only Septarians hoping and striving for peace with Mewmans. From the very beginning, Mylanie encouraged her son to exercise his mind and prioritized intelligence over the brute force and strength that other Septarians (*cough*Seth*cough*) seemed to consider all was needed to succeed.
As a child he was incredibly shy around people and tended to stay close to his mother, but when it was just the two of them he flourished with curiosity and it was clear from the beginning that he was a quick learner and incredibly smart.
As he got older he began to gain his own independence, though still incredibly close to his mother. He maintained beliefs reflecting hers, but was still incredibly young and hadn’t fully grasped the situation at hand. Consistently witnessing how opposed the viewpoints between his mom and the Septarian ruler’s were, despite the two being friends.
I could go into more but honestly there’s a lot here so I’m going to continue—
But… Torrence was edging 13 when his mother died.
Tumblr media
Braid/Best Friend Toffee ~13-15
At age 13 after Mylanie’s death, Torrence met the Princess of Mewni, Eclipsa, when she was 11. While weary of her at first, being brought up in a peacemaker’s home caused that weariness to quickly fade. The two became fast friends, achieving the title of each other’s best friend incredibly quickly. They were each other’s Star and Marco, except they maintained their best friend status and it never turned romantic.
Eclipsa’s even the one who coined the nickname Toffee, calling him nothing but and using it as an affectionate nickname for her bestie.
Now this is the part where I step in as the creator and put a big ol’ SPOILERS tag on this babyyy because the details are expanded upon ✨later✨. But basically after Eclipsa is crowned the two distance… and eventually fall out… and it’s bad. Really bad. Eclipsa is a huge factor in all of Toffee’s… well you know.
Tumblr media
Bad Boy Toffee, ~17-20
So THIS is a redesign of the Toffee we saw in Meteora’s lesson, really dipping deep into that hardcore bad boy aesthetic. Honestly the show adding this aspect of him brought loads to his character.
Now don’t get me wrong, he does NOT like Seth in my AU, at all, and does not respect him, but because Seth was friends with his mother, he and his sister took him in after her passing, AND Seth really appealed to his hurt regarding the aftermath with Eclipsa and fed into it (turning that hurt and sadness into bitterness and anger), Toffee subconsciously bought into that belief system without even realizing how starkly he was changing.
He also rejected the nickname Toffee given to him by Eclipsa (bc he hates her), and went back to being called Torrence around this time (except when Glossaryck ruined it), but I’m going to keep calling him Toffee for simplicity
Honestly bad boy Toffee is so fun but again this is a timeline overview and everything will be given in more detail
Tumblr media
Historian Toffee, Early 20’s
In Daron’s AMA she stated that Toffee was a historian that researched magic and the Butterfly Family like no other. That’s still true, and here’s where that time as a historian comes into play. He takes a break from being in the military or whatever and pours his soul into this plan he has.
Due to being (ex)friends with Eclipsa, he knows all about Mewni Castle’s secret tunnels and uses them constantly to “borrow” books from the library. He not only wants to verify what Eclipsa told him in youth (The Whispering Spell, other magical traditions, etc), but also learn new information to perfectly enact his plan.
Tumblr media
General Toffee & Canon Toffee Mid-late 20s
The Toffee we knew from the show, the lizard we know and love. Obviously, he reclaimed the name Toffee during this time and began using it as his name. I don’t think going into detail with this section is warranted but I do have a lot of backstory as to what happened with Comet and such (which again, Spoilers) and just his overall mentality and motivations during the events of the show. Here’s one thing though:
After being humiliated by Moon in front of his troops, he not only permanently retires from his title as a general but straight up leaves Septarsis entirely, and planned to never show his face there again, even after he got revenge against Moon and completed the plan he started so long ago.
And yeah I don’t have to explain Canon Toffee,, the lawyer businessman as he is 💕. Just in case the late 20’s is confusing, the way he dresses and styles himself makes him look a lot older (35 or something) but in actual Septarian development (for my AU obviously none of this is canon) I’d say he’s around 27-28.
Tumblr media
As of right now in present day, Toffee is still basically dead. Trapped in this half dead state because not everything of him was destroyed, inside a jar tucked away in Star’s closet to prevent him from regenerating and causing more trouble.
Ovelia Dragonfly, the secondary protagonist of the Septarsis-Dragonfly AU, being the eccentric collector she is found the jar and asked Star if she could keep it,, WHICH IS IT’S OWN COMIC but I’m not entirely through with Ovelia yet.
This is so so out of order, I haven’t finished the buildup to Ovelia finding the jar yet but hey, today is July 15th, the anniversary of the Battle for Mewni, I just had to post something Toffee related on the five year mark of his death.
Thank you Toffee for being my favorite character in all of media, you are deeply missed.
🥀Toffee of Septarsis; 2015-2017🥀

Ok, this is somewhat SVTOE. But how about VM + Cassandra with a S/O who is a royal member of the butterfly family and they are super powerful like Skywynne levels of powerful.
(She was the Queen of Hours. A title she got because when her family's castle was destroyed it took a total of five years to rebuilt it. However, thanks to Skywynne placing a 24-hour time loop over the kingdom. To the entire kingdom the construction only took a day. And one time a in a fit frustration and stress she unintentionally destroyed an another dimension entirely)
Also how would they take seeing the s/o's butterfly form and knowing that they're from another dimension.
Oh dang!! That’s whole new levels of GOAT for y/n
Your powers were helpful but also complex. It can stop and manipulate time to your will, but what if there’s a cost? Could they live with the fact that something is cost to protect/save them?
Percy - any attack that tries to prove fatal to him is halted immediately. He can see the toll it takes on you sometimes and doesn’t want you to be forfeited as he almost once was
Pike - she could see Delilah’s magic coming at her, aimed at the Everlight’s symbol, until everything feels as if she’s moving through honey. Next thing, Delilah is countered by her own hand
Scanlan - if he’s ever said something dumb, please reverse time to forget. Just kidding, but really, your skill is more than helpful for anything from a disgruntled rival to reversing Betrayer God magic
Grog - fascinated from the tattoos that cover your cheeks to the way you can change/manipulate time. Always asks questions about what you can do and if takes its toll on you, there’s a healing potion for that
Keyleth - the attack she took for Vex is halted as she can feel herself move back to a safer place, unharmed, as you take the hit instead
Vax’ildan - also likes your cheek tattoos (thinks they’re cute AF) and when you show him small demonstrations here and there, he’s looking with wonder. Plus your magic helps with the “dagger! Dagger! Dagger!” attacks
Vex’ahlia - time magic helps more with her arrow attacks and retrievals, but also is concerned for you too about what effects your magic can have

Burn Out
"Azure flame," Moon whispered into the darkness, and a small flame flickered to life on the tip of her wand, which she then used to light the candle on her desk-or at least, what was left of the candle. Its wax was nearly burned out.
Moon scooted her chair closer to the desk, and opened her journal, which was filled with notes on her magical studies and countless attempts to dip down.
Her sleepless nights could at least be useful for something productive, and if Glossaryck wasn't willing to teach her, well, then she'd have to be the one to teach herself.
She wasn't successful yet, but what other option did she have? Every moment she can't access her strongest magic is another moment in which her kingdom is in peril.
She tried to reassure herself that with the new accords, she needn't worry as much about the safety of her people-but the monsters could not be trusted, as Moon was well aware. They already betrayed one queen when they were on the verge of peace; What's to stop them from doing it again?
She breathed in. The bright flame danced to the rhythm of her breaths, an entrancing dance of hope and despair.
Moon summarized queen Skywynne's chapter as her thoughts wandered towards her bed, for the hour was terribly late, and she was exhausted. The idea of collapsing into the soft sheets and closing her eyes for a well-deserved nap before the break of dawn was more than appealing.
But she knew she couldn't, for she knew what awaited her when she let her eyes close.
And Moon knew that if she had to see those horrors again, she would finally lose her mind.
No, she would give up the luxury of sleep and settle on using one of queen Crescenta's spells-a spell which allowed one to stay awake for as long as necessary. For now, she works. She must figure out how to dip down. Failing was not an option.
And as the young queen worked late into the night, the small flame burned true, offering with its light what little hope it could.
Only when daybreak hit her window with the first rays of dawn, her flame finally gave in and was smothered, wax devoured whole. And with the dying of her light, came the death of hope.
