PAIRING: choi seungcheol x reader GENRE: idiot in love, friends-to-lovers, angst if you squint WC: 864 WARNING: mentions of alcohol, cursing
"Are you sure you don't want to come?" your roommate peeking from your door, all dressed up and ready for a party. You glance at them before murmuring a low no.
Seungcheol would be there and you're afraid there will be a bloodbath.
You heard them shuffling around the room, ready to leave when they suddenly appeared at your door again.
"Just leave!" you ordered with a laugh. Escorting them to the front door, bidding goodbye. You close the door afterward, sighing. Lately, your relationship with Seungcheol has gone downhill really fast. You're not even dating, not even close. No one even knows both of you used to talk on a daily basis until a week ago.
One thing you know is that he would be there at the party and girls would be dying to talk to him like usual. Except this time he might indulge them. To say that you're jealous would be weird because why would you?
You decided to sleep early, trying to shut the image of Seungcheol and the urge to text him.
It was already past midnight when you were awakened by the sound outside your dorm. You tied your hair, walking towards the front door. Half annoyed, half sleepy.
"Did you forget your key?" you mumble, pulling the door open.
"Thank God!" your roommate shouts. "Cheol said you might already be asleep."
"I was..." you said dryly. Your eyes trained on the guy who held up your half-drunk roommate. No longer sleepy, you're suddenly boiling with rage.
"I'll get going then, I was just escorting them home," Seungcheol said, looking at you. You nod your head, grabbing your roommate by the arm. His hand brushed yours, sending shivers down your spine. It has been weeks since you saw him. Even last week arguments were done through texts with no resolution. You wouldn't care much about who's with him, but it hurts twice more when it's your roommates. Not that you can say anything about that and that's just frustrating.
Your roommate held your arms, tugging on his shirt. You tried to detach them from Seungcheol to no extent because they kept asking him to come in for a moment. You had no choice but to let him in, closing the door behind him afterward. Your roommate, as annoying as they are, immediately walks to the couch and closes their eyes. Mumbling something about a headache.
You curse under your breath before turning to face him.
"I think you can leave now," you told him. "Thank you for driving them back."
"Great, so we're gonna act like nothing happened?" Seungcheol asks.
"Aren't you the one who stopped replying to my text?" you quip back, venom lacing your words. You're watching as his expression changes, jaw clenched.
"I asked you to meet but I guess your reputation matters most to you and you'd rather break this up than be seen going out with me, right?" his words hurt, but you find yourself turning to see your roommate's sleeping state. Wondering if they were listening to a word he said. "You're fucking unbelievable."
"Listen, I don't care if you want to go out with anyone, just not them" you point at your roommate. "You're just going to break their heart."
Like he did yours. But that was mostly your fault for involving even a little bit of feelings in this relationship. You were fine being best friends for the last 5 years. Coming from the same neighborhood, going abroad to the same school. Then acting as if you didn't know each other for the sake of keeping each other as a comfort person.
"And you expect me to believe that shit?" Seungcheol smirks. You really want to smack him at this point, finding it painfully hard not to.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" you hiss back. He took one step closer to you, both hands on his back. Your heart leaps, when did he become so mature? Did you really not care if he went out with just anyone?
"I don't want to go out with just anyone. I thought I was making it obvious about what I wanted," he said, chuckling lightly when your eyes widened. "You."
"That's a shit confession," you replied.
"At least I have the courage to do so?!" Seungcheol complained. "Unlike someone I know who just ghosted despite maybe having mutual feelings."
"I did not," you lied.
"What makes you think I'm talking about you?" he goes back to annoy you. "I'll prepare a better confession with long paragraphs if you at least admit it."
"I really hate you, you know that, right?" you replied, trying not to smile. "I stand by my word before, that's a shit confession, but I don't think I can word it better."
"Fucking finally!" You jump at the sudden roar of your roommate. They sat up straight on the couch, grinning like a Cheshire cat. Seungcheol's ears turned red by the unexpected setup. Both of you become an easy target tonight, blinded by the need to come back to each other to actually notice anything out of the ordinary. "Jeonghan and Joshua owe me 20 bucks each."

how they treat you when you're drunk, jjk.
Geto, sukuna, satoru, and megumi. (f)
warnings, genre, tropes. none! | pure fluff | tropes. dormmate!getoxfem!reader, bf!sukunaxfem!reader, enemy!satoruxfem!reader heavy enemy to livers on satoru's part, boyfriend!megumixfem!reader |
Geto.
"Y/n? what the fuck." he'd munble in his breath as soon as your friends dropped you off of your dorm. your dormate, suguru was luckily still awake, couldn't sleep peacefully since you were not home yet. but now you were, just a little drunk and tipsy, "you're coming home drunk now?"
"hey, stop being rude to me." you reply with a pout, you were tripping over your own words, you fell right on his arms, couldn't even balance yourself. yeah, you were just a tad bit tipsy. your weight was placed on suguru, he closes the door with his foot and carries you by his hand under your legs and the other around your waist. your arms wrapped around his neck for support, "you're handsome."
"and you're drunk." he replies with a tsk at the end of his sentence,"stop saying those things, you don't mean it."
suguru began walking towards your room, entering it and laying you down softly on your bed, "even if I'm drunk, it doesn't change the fact that i find you handsome. what's your name, handsome?"
suguru feels himself chuckling at your silly behavior, you were gonna lose your mind once he tells you the things you were saying right now. it was hilarious, but let me tell you a secret. he might find it funny but trust me, his heart was set in flames at your compliment.
"suguru, but you can call me yours."
"hello, yours!"
Sukuna.
"that's enough." sukuna mumbles, grabbing the shot glass you were about to drink and discarding the liquid on the ground as harshly. you looked at him with a frown, the obvious sign of alcohol can be seen in your appearance.
"but i want another one, kuna." you pout, your voice was trippy and just borderline drunk, your cheeks were red. your eyes were heavy, your head was spinning and you felt like you were floating, "stop being such a buzzkill."
you grabbed another glass and pouring another shot of alcohol but before you can bring the glass up to your lips, sukuna had taken a hold of it and discarded the liquid, again. behind his back, "let's go home."
your eyes suddenly shines in an instant, without him knowing you had already stretched your arms out for him, "carry me, hubby."
"hubby?" he asks, scoffing at the nickname. he was trying to act bitter towards it but to be honest, he liked it, "please refrain yourself from calling me unusual pet names, doll."
"you act so tough all the time when in reality..." your words trailed off when sukuna grabs you gently to help you get on his back. your arms wrapped around his neck. sukuna grabs your bag before hanging it around his neck. you snuggled comfortably against the scent of his soft pink hair, "continue your words, pretty." "im tired of thinking, kuna."
sukuna begins walking, the soft breeze of the night surrounded the loving couple, "you know... you can be cute sometimes."
Satoru.
"oop. careful, sweetie." the silver haired tells you, tightening his grip on your arm more tightly but not to the extent where it started to hurt. you drank way too much alcohol than you can normally take, it was clearly your fault. and now you were facing the consequences for good, you got lost of what you were doing. now you had the man you genuinely hated take care of you after your friends were also in the world of their owns, "don't want to trip now, would you."
"get the fuck off me, satoru." you bite, despite the alcohol in your veins the hatred you had for the mand was still there which was surprising. you push him off of you, the force making you lose your balance, you instantly brig yourself to lena against the wall, your eyes barely opening, "leave me the fuck alone."
"you can barely stand." satoru laughs at your state, he loves seeing you suffer like this, "after three shots, really? what a weak shit you are."
"exfuckingcuse me?" you say, your eyes now opening but it turned to a glare instantly.
"are you passing through?"
you groaned, the pain in your head throbbed in the most fucking bitchh way and it was mixed with satoru's (ugly) face. you slide down to the floor before holding your head in pain, "seeing you makes my head hurt."
"oh don't blame me now sweetie." there was a pause after his reply. and it surprised you to say the least right when he crouched down to your level to meet with your eyes. you were still drunk, but your hatr for the man in front of you was unmatched, "want me to take care of you?"
"I'd rather eat glass."
"stop being a dramatic brat and just let me help you."
"fuck you."
"i dare you."
Megumi.
"my head hurts, gumi. and the room... it's spinning." you complain, it was true, the fact that you felt so light headed was a vague feeling. you never were this drunk before and now that you were, let's just say megumi had a lot of things to take care of. your head rested on his shoulder with his arms wrapped around you, both of you sitting on the couch, "im not drinking ever again."
"that's normal." he replies shortly to you, his tone monotone as usual. he soothes your hair and you relaxed under his touch.
"you know." you lift your head up to look at him, the alcohol hitting in an instant. a thought suddenly pops up in your head and because of the drink that contained ethenol was in your bloodstream. your emotions were snesitive, and let me tell you, megumi was caught off guard as soon as you started crying, "are you thinking of leaving me, gumi?"
you cried even harder at the thought, by this time, megumi was unaware of what to do instead of eloping you into a tight hug. his face screamed a confused expression obviously, "i... im not. please stop crying."
"im sorry, i can't help it." and that just added fuel into the fire, you cried even harder. and you don't even know why, there was just this thing in you that you couldn't help it anymore, you were losing controls of your emotions and... it was the alcohol for sure, "im such a bad girlfriend!"
oh boy, this was going to be a ling night for the raven haired.

Saw ur Toshiro post, and I absolutely agree that Toshiro's outburst will be a stepping stone for both um an Laios to grow and that the buildup was because Shuro didn't want to ruin situation he was still trying to figure out. But the funniest thing is, afaik, Laios and Falin are *also Foreigners* for quite far away. Their country is simply Scandinavian/northern Europe themed. I don't think we see any long-lived races in their flash backs (baring the dead man buying a ring of elves?). And both Falin and Laois definitly are the equivalent of nobility/Local chiefs kids. But instead of being send out with all their assistants and guards, Laios ran away and suffered in the army and then on his own in a caravan , and Falin was send to a Magial School full of other races and people. They both had time to 'adjust' to the wider world (and still carry a bit of home-grown uh...prejudice (mountain people)). So when they met Shuro both of them were well used to meeting people not from their Country. Toshiro not being either from the tiny Island or the nearby lands simply didn't mesh with how they had adapted to behave. Plus, obviously, Laios textual Autism. But I feel like Laios could totally have figured it out if he had met people from Shuros island before who would have told him, he does after all know how to behave around Dwarves and such, who also have quite diffrent culturual norms. Sorry for the ramble xD Good Toshiro post!
Hi hi! I’m really glad you’re adding onto my silly brain thoughts hehe - I’m super happy to hear yours, especially since they make me think more! Warning this is going to be long, talking about dungeon meshi is just a lot of fun.
When I said foreigner, I should have clarified that that I meant he’s a stranger to the CULTURE. A good chunk of the people in the island are not native to it! But culturally, they have the social background to fit in. They didn’t all come from the same place, yes, but they grew up in European-esque cultures and interacted to some extent with other races. Even Kabru and Rin are not foreign to this type of culture because they grew up with Western/European socialization.
Gonna elaborate bc I think it’s fascinating: From what we know about the Eastern islands, the worldview is very very different. In the Adventurer’s Bible where Kabru talks to Hien, they talk about how the East defines “humans” as “tallmen”, and oni/ogres were the only “other”. In the post-canon snippet where Toshiro talks to Falin, he even refers to Eastern thinking as “backward” due to the lack of long-lived races. Because of his delayed exposure to other races, and because the worldview is far more different than the one the Toudens experienced, that’s where I make the statement that he had more to adjust to.
I’ll also note, the fact that the Toudens are subjectively more adjusted to seeing and accommodating other races makes Laios’ statement that Toshiro “had an odd appearance” an even more bizarre thing to say. And although we can assume Toshiro also has his biases, we don’t see them highlighted like other characters have had (to my knowledge). So it makes it seem like he was more thoughtful/careful towards other races from the get-go, despite his lack of knowledge. His main issues were always with other tallmen, just like Laios.
It’s good to point out that the Toudens are outcasts in their own right. Both of them went through a really hard time, and it changed them. Laios’ cycle of failures and giving up and being bullied are especially important to characterizing his relationship with his sister and his disinterest in humanity and lack of close friends. Falin at least had Marcille. Both Laios and Toshiro have reasons they’re inexperienced in friendship, but one of them stated it in the story and the other didn’t. There’s more misconception about Toshiro’s character than Laios’. So my post was to talk about that one a bit.
ALSO OOO I COMPLETELY FORGOT but I WAS going to mention how both the Toudens and Toshiro came from families of influence! Thank you for bringing it up! Laios and Toshiro diverge from that upbringing, while making Toshiro and Falin a little more similar. This goes into another whole thing where Laios and Toshiro parallel (and foils?) each other but that’s too long of a discussion. Just as long is how this divergence distinguishes the Touden siblings (too many people have said their only difference is gender..)
Lastly, yes, Laios does need more exposure to Eastern people and Eastern culture to get a grasp on it. He really wants to learn! It’s just that Shuro isn’t his encyclopedia and until he gets that chance, he will make ignorant takes. I can think of two more that will occur in the main narrative alone. (but like Toshiro said, Laios has no malicious intent, that’s what makes it all the more complicated)
While there’s good conversation to be had about the fight from a ND vs NT POV, I’ve seen SO much discussion about Toshiro possibly being read as autistic too, and neurodivergent individuals who can relate to his experience. Often it comes as an intersection between both being autistic and being a poc. I think it brings even more nuance to the narrative. Plus I’m just glad there’s people who can relate to him. He’s meant to be relatable! His problem with Laios is just as much a character flaw as it is human.
Hope this post was a thoughtful response to yours, I tried to tackle everything you mentioned! Thank you sm for the ask :D
Edit: for the sake of context, here’s the og post that’s being referred to!

A large part of the public and the fandom affirm that Flapjack was Evelyn's palisman or was carved by her as a gift to Caleb, but really, those deductions are not solidly based or well argued. Dana's latest statements do NOT confirm that Flapjack belonged to Evelyn, she just states that Evelyn's spirit was NOT in Flapjack but Belos saw it as the culmination of his brother's corruption.
In Hollow Mind, inside Philip's mind we can appreciate paintings that frame his most important memories, and Caleb is present in all of them. There is one in particular in which Caleb is carving the characteristic mask that Philip would later adopt when changing his identity to Belos. But so what? Well, both the writers and animators don't put random details, rather they put them because they are important to a great extent, and they are worth noting, so the fact that they put Caleb carving the mask was not by chance, but because the painting itself is confirming that Caleb, from an early age, was a woodcarver. It can easily be deduced that Caleb was in fact likely to have started the Clawthorne tradition of palisman carving, rather than the other way around.
Caleb is depicted as a carver from a young age.
Tumblr media
Hunter's wish was to carve out his own future, a wish that prompts Flapjack to join immediately. I highly doubt that a young witch who was able to travel between two realms would have so many conflicts for her future.
Now let's think about Caleb's future as an orphan who had to abandon his childhood to raise his younger brother, in a puritanical society in which absolute perfection was demanded of man. The ultimate goal of the Puritan community was to maintain moral purity in all areas of life. The Puritans held that God was the highest authority on any subject of the human being. Only divine grace had the ability to change people, who had to live according to God's precepts as thanks to his mercy. In this way, they thought that they fulfilled what God wanted from the human being and, therefore, they would access Paradise, since God had great plans for those who followed him. Doesn't look familiar? Flapjack's connection to Hunter must have antecedents regarding the desire that brought them together: Hunter wanted to have enough freedom to be able to choose his future for himself without any higher entity, family or society telling him what to do. And that surely was Caleb's wish; freedom, choice and criteria.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In some illustrations of the brothers, already as adults, Flapjack is present on Caleb's shoulder. If he were Evelyn's palisman, despite how close he could be to his owner's partner, it wouldn't make sense for him to be in the human world, it's as if they represented Luz and Ghost together, much less, that he was was so familiar with the house that it belonged to Caleb and Philip.
Tumblr media
Many began to theorize that Flapjack belonged to Evelyn or that she had carved it as a gift for Caleb due to the Wagon Ride in Thanks To Them, in which in the intro, a bird that is obviously Flapjack appears surrounded by fire in the hand of Evelyn attracting Caleb. Such an act could be perceived as symbolic, since the Hollow Mind paintings show that Flapjack was not present at the meeting between the brothers and the witch, and we all know that Philip would not have overlooked such a detail important like that. What is a symbolism? The different forms of expression that use symbols to represent ideas and facts are known as symbolism. Symbolism is the idea that some things represent others. What we mean by that is that we can think of something, say, the color red, and conclude that it does not represent the color red itself, but something beyond it: say, passion, love, or devotion. Flapjack is a red cardinal and represents all of those symbolism for Hunter.
But it can also be associated with anger, aggressiveness, revenge and blood. The series usually handles a lot of color symbolism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I could give an example of the symbolism of the forbidden fruit and the serpent presented in the story of Adam and Eve. The serpent tricks Eve so that she and Adam eat the forbidden fruit which, according to tradition, is an apple. This act is universally known as "original sin." As a result of their disobedience, the first human beings are expelled by God from Paradise. The supposed apple represents the "knowledge of good and evil". Specifically, having their own ideas about what is “good” and what is “bad” instead of relying on God's wisdom and moral law. The snake represents the human desire to investigate and understand the unknown; our curious nature tempted Eve to seek the forbidden fruit to find her own answers.
Dana is well known for putting, or wanting to put, religion-related references, and was apparently inspired by the fables of Adam and Eve for the story between Caleb and Evelyn, and Cain and Abel for Philip and Caleb. Evelyn fills the role of the apple, magic the snake and Flapjack the result of Caleb giving in to temptation. In the story of Cain and Abel; Cain kills his brother because he did not know how to control his jealousy when he saw that God appreciated Abel's offerings over his own. This can be understood, adapting to the mythology of the Islands, that Caleb pleased the Titan by learning and adapting to magic, and Philip kills him out of jealousy when he sees his brother being happy with magic, with Evelyn, with flapjack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Flapjack were Evelyn's palisman; he wouldn't have left after Caleb's death. Palismans seem to be passed down from generation to generation, and the only way they stand alone is because either their owners died, or they were abandoned. If Flapjack was Evelyn's palisman, and she only lived with Caleb, she wouldn't have gone off with the Bat Queen. We could explore and get to Dell's palisman, which is a yellow cardinal, similar to Flapjack, and which is surely Evelyn's real palisman, which was inherited until it was left with Dell. I don't think it was carved after Flapjack's disappearance and Caleb's death, because he also has a scar, and that may mean he was and participated in the conflict.
Flapjack is not attached to Eda, despite the fact that the series has made clear his similarities with Evelyn. Flapjack had seen her before Hunter, and even so, it didn't occur to him to go with her, nor with Luz, who was her companion. But he did seem to know the Clawthorne family and trust them enough, therefore, Eda. I gather that because she had no problem pushing Hunter out of the way at Eclipse Lake and calling on her when Hunter disappeared. He knew Evelyn, surely he loved her, but his behavior with Eda shows that he did not own her.
Tumblr media
Caleb represents change and the desire for freedom, reasons why he was killed, certainly. Birds may be the symbol of the Clawthorne family thanks to Caleb, and it would be poetic symbolism. A bird is a universal symbol of freedom because it represents the ability of birds to fly through the skies whenever necessary, to escape and be free. In the same way, a bird in a cage is a symbol of the freedom that has been taken from it. The Gold Guard's mask may have been carved by Caleb like Philip's to play with, and said mask represents an owl. The shield of the Golden Guard, Gravesfield and even the Emperor; they are birds, and we know for a fact that they reference Caleb, who may very well have been fond of birds, and combining it with woodcarving, results in the Clawthorne lore and Flapjack, and if we go further, reintroducing from the palismans to the Boiling Islands, then I detail that theory. Quote: "Freedom is a bird with wings; you can fly. Birds have all the freedom. They don't have to stay in one place all their lives." It's very close to what we know of Caleb.
Tumblr media
There are other reasons that may undermine the popular theory that Evelyn was the owner or carver of Flapjack, and I personally think those theories detract from Caleb's weight in the story. As I listed the reasons, I was asked questions as I wrote them down: If the Flapjack was Evelyn's and she had carved it before the events presented in the story, why would it have the name human food?
All of the birds that the Clawthorne family is inspired to make for their palismans and their family logo are human birds, including Flapjack himself, who doesn't have any whimsical island elements.
Caleb was a woodcarver, and surely that was his job in the human world. Is it not logical to think that it started the tradition of palisman carving?
They're throwing all that data in our faces for God's sake.
Belos, in his fit of rage, called out Caleb's name when he saw Flapjack, before Evelyn's. As Philip fatally wounds Flapjack, he says "Bye, Evelyn" mockingly, but before that he declares, "You wouldn't want me to hurt a precious palisman, would you? On second thought, I don't care what you want." And he proceeds to name Evelyn and impale Flapjack, with many taking those lines at face value. We don't know who he is addressing, when seconds later Hunter regains control of his body, which alludes that his control over his body was weakening, and it is likely that those words were directed at Hunter himself, who seconds later declares his desire to carve palismans. She could also say it to Luz, who she was looking at in the act and showed genuine concern for Flapjack, or Evelyn herself, but she never refers to HER palisman, she refers to ONE palisman. He could also be talking to Caleb, and it would make sense if we analyze that, later, he would enter a mild dissociative state in which he would refer to Hunter as such and after precisely killing Flapjack, he sees his ghost or his hallucination. His enthusiastic "Goodbye, Evelyn" is due to the fact that he ended the symbol of love, freedom and union that marked a before and after in Caleb and in his relationship with Philip, and could also be part of his teasing in his internal conversation with Caleb.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Caleb's first true connection to magic, which would define his decision to remain in the Demon World and become a witch, would be Flapjack. When a warlock carves a palisman, their souls are bound for life, and Caleb carved Flapjack. The series presents many parallels between situations, relationships and characters, and from the current events we can deduce how some previous events were; Luz carved her own palisman, with the help of Eda, who was the one who gave her the wood for the palistrom. And why would it be any different with Caleb? Eda gave her the wooden palistrom because Luz really wanted to be a witch, and maybe Evelyn saw that her good human friend, open-minded and non-extremist, is a carver, and well, it would be nice if she gave him a piece of wood and BOOM! Caleb carves Flapjack, and it would make more sense based on narrative and lore for Caleb to be the one to carve Flapjack, and not be a gift or palisman from Evelyn, since, in addition to detracting from Caleb's own actions and decisions about what he wanted in doing so removes the symbolism of his character and even the relationship between the bird and the Hunter. Going back to the subject of palismans, the fact of sharing souls and that, while Caleb was in the human world; Flapjack linked it to the Boiling Isles. Flapjack was the anchor, which ended up uniting the islands completely. Flapjack represents the link with witchcraft, and at the same time with Evelyn, the culprit that Caleb has known that world. Belos sees in Flapjack the magic that ended up anchoring Caleb to the Isles, and the magic was what separated him from him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The parallels between characters is one of the best-treated topics in The owl house. Eda, Willow, and Amity can be compared to Evelyn from the point you see it, while Hunter, Luz, and again Eda to Caleb. And I think these scenes are an indirect response to what happened between Caleb and Evelyn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is thinking like: I want Maduro to suffer because I am destroying everything he ever wanted, which is everything related to Chavismo. Having already given these examples that are not personal at all and that obviously do not represent the national sentiment of an entire nation; having injured Flapjack, and about to kill him, is Philip destroying everything Caleb ever wanted, everything related to magic. That's why Hunter responds seconds later saying everything he wanted to do, even though Philip didn't care. They were words directed at a man he murdered 400 years ago, from whom he has taken and continues to fight to take everything from him, and that everything is what "pushed" them away in the first place. Obviously it wasn't you stabbing him in the back and chest that destroyed his family, of course not, it was a bird that your brother carved because he wanted to do magic and fly. Yes, Philip, you would make a very interesting case study for psychiatrists. And again, yes Philip, you deserved to be puddled and stomped to death.

when a character visibly drops a ruse
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know that post? It’s been stuck in my head for a very long time, because I love the concept so much but couldn’t really think of many examples in the stories I know. Oh, but this--hmm
You might remember a while back I was gushing about Katsuki’s lack of a mask during the rescue mission. I still think it’s symbolic to an extent. He’s had his mask torn on multiple occasions too, including the current chapters. I have no doubt that Katsuki is now way more in touch with and accepting of his feelings than Izuku is. His mask being absent or removed is like a flag for his vulnerability. And I’m thinking that for a long time now, since before the apology and even before ch 285, Katsuki has been outgrowing his knee-jerk defensiveness and aloof persona. Sure, he’ll always be a spitfire, but that doesn’t mean he has to stay distant. That doesn’t mean he’s incapable of gentleness.
But the thing is he does still act defensive. He makes a point to remind Izuku they’re still rivals, keeps him on his toes with his harsh retorts and surprise attacks. However I really don’t think it’s genuine anymore. Some of his classmates may complain about the way his behavior hasn't changed, but there’s a reason for it that they don't see: Katsuki’s apology is a true apology, one that doesn’t ask for anything in return. He learned this from Endeavor, and he even said he doesn’t expect things to change. So he has to keep up their established dynamic in case that’s all Izuku wants them to have. With this in mind, his actions make a lot more sense.
But for the most part this was just an idea I entertained for fun, not much to back it up. That is, until ch 362 came around. I had a hard time talking about it in the moment, because, ya know. Yet I couldn’t ignore how blatantly different he looked, the way he carried his face. When a character spends like 90% of the story looking like a growling feral animal, anything less is certainly startling. That’s one thing, he’s had his expression go neutral before. In 362 it was so consistent though. I mean, there was zero tension, only bliss and calm. And then he actually smiles in a fond, nostalgic way. It’s like in the privacy of his own mind or wherever he is, his old self just melts away. Suddenly he appears sweet and thoughtful. If you didn’t know his character at all, you would never guess based on these images that he has a whole other demeanor most of the time. On the long list of things the story has yet to address which proves Katsuki’s death wouldn’t make sense, this is near the top. I’m now fully attached to the concept of Katsuki consciously pretending to be like his old self, while having done all this character evolution in secret. Katsuki must live for Izuku to see him drop the ruse. But what will it take for that to happen?
The only thing I can be sure of is that Katsuki would need to see how Izuku really actually does want their relationship to change. This could come from witnessing Izuku’s breakdown, or feeling it through whatever vestige-y coma sort of form he might be in now, or through 2nd’s quirk. I really don’t know at this point. I do want to reiterate what I said in regards to Heroes Rising though, since that theory now looks more likely than ever. The character development that happened in the ending of that movie which had to be erased was Katsuki realizing Izuku “chooses” him, so this must also be a key part of their manga development. Though I don’t have any leads as to how it will happen, my favorite options are:
Either Izuku is finally pushed by his greatest nightmare (almost) being realized to finally verbalize his feelings to Katsuki
Or Izuku remains stubbornly in denial even though his feelings are now obvious to Katsuki, so Katsuki takes matters into his own hands.
Most recently, I now like the second idea better because as stated above, I think Katsuki is the more emotionally open of the two at this point. Thus he may even be the one to reach out and initiate that handhold moment we’re all waiting for. I mean, you know how badly he wants it. What a lovely role reversal that would be.
One more thing. I have a hunch. Just a hunch. And it has to do with Monoma. Before ch 363 I was musing about the fact that Monoma is the only one besides Izuku and the vestiges who witnessed the whole event of Izuku awakening blackwhip. He is the only one who knows (or might be able to infer) why Izuku lost control. Idk if this is relevant to Katsuki figuring it out necessarily, but it might matter for the audience’s perspective. I actually gasped when I saw Monoma have a flashback to joint training in 363, because there could be more to come. If we’re right, and there’s continuity to be found from blackwhip’s awakening, to Izuku keeping the detail about his heart a secret, to Shigaraki seeing that Katsuki is Izuku’s weakness, then Monoma can be the one to draw that through line. There’s already some (rather dark) irony being established as Monoma, who could be seen as representing a Bakugou anti, is now deeply shaken by his loss. Horikoshi must be hoping he can sway some antis in the same way, so if Monoma carries their POV and Hori also uses him to spell out the nature of Izuku’s feelings, that would mean Hori is seeking to defy people’s narrow understanding of their relationship as well. Again, Monoma is the ONLY other person who knows exactly what happened in joint training, and he’s right there, witnessing and commenting on this fight. Joint training memories are already on his mind. We are actually so close to an explicit confirmation of this theory about Izuku’s first vestige quirk awakening and his locked up emotions. It’s like I can see the shadow of the last puzzle piece coming into place.

On the topic of 'other secret bosses', have I told you my Rouxls Kaard theory yet? Specifically that I think halfway through the game, he's going to disappear and become a Secret Boss.
My reasons for thinking this firstly, because like the Joker Card, his real-world form is another item that always gets discarded: the Rules Card. His similarity to Gaster and Papyrus also help(since they're also both very affiliated with the idea of being 'Forgettable', and I suspect one of them may be the 'Strange Someone'. (Maybe both? I will NEVER give up on the Gaster is Papyrus theory.)) Anyways, those things, but there's also how Rouxls' theme has spoken words in it, and Jevil and Spamton have spoken words in their fights (Jevil's 'I can do anything', the lyrics to Big Shot), and there's ALSO something very important--
Rouxls is very important and no one really likes him. He's always running around, trying to find a boss to suck up to, but the Fun Gang treats him as 'eurgh, that guy again,' and neither King nor Queen really LIKES him. Much like Jevil, only one person(Lancer) really seems to appreciate him, but much like Spamton, he's not very good at all at what he does.
So I think that, in some future Dark World, Rouxls will meet someone he's not supposed to. And he's eagerly offer to be their lackey. And that will cause him to disappear. Stopping him from disappearing is out of your control. But what IS in your control is if you just give him up for lost, or go looking for him, even knowing that you can't ever undo the damage done by his having gone missing, even if he's radically changed by what happened, even if you don't think you'll be able to really bring him back...
Maybe Noelle felt similarly after losing Dess. No one seems to talk about them anymore. Life continues on perfectly fine without them. Even those who knew them and miss them still have a life to live. Maybe this was always going to happen. But still...
I've heard about the idea of Rouxls being a secret boss at some point, but this is a really cool take on that idea! I really like this for a couple of reasons - the first being that in a way this has already happened in-game! When we first enter the Cyber World, Rouxls slips out of our pocket in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, and I'm willing to bet most people didn't even notice he was gone from our inventory until the next confrontation with him... myself included.
The other reason I really like this idea is because it would give Rouxls something else in common with other secret bosses - which is that we as players would have to really go out of our way to discover and fight him, and it's entirely likely that our efforts in that regard could cause many more problems than it might solve - see Kris's mental state after the whole Spamton ordeal. It's kind of like an extension of the philosophy behind the Sans fight in Undertale - we do it because of our morbid curiosity, because we want to see what happens, and because we can, we "have to"... no matter the cost in-game.
Quite aside from that, Rouxls fascinates me because it's entirely possible that his abilities could be literally game-breaking... if he only knew how to use them properly. As the Rules Card, he literally defines the terms of a game of cards - imagine what he could be capable of if he suddenly decided "you can't hurt me anymore" or "I win if I so much as graze you". I think that potential power may be largely curtailed by his need to be subordinate to a "higher power", because you cannot play a rules card in the same way you can play a face card... so maybe becoming subordinate to "something he wasn't supposed to meet" will allow him to use that power to its fullest extent.
To further hammer this point home, look at his appearances between Chapters 1 and 2. Under King, who is a incredibly myopic and cruel ruler whose subordinates either hate him or are completely indifferent to him... Rouxls' puzzles are equally rubbish. Then in Chapter 2, Queen does a slightly better job of "ruling" her domain, and actually commands loyalty from the Swatchlings, and suddenly Rouxls is able to construct a pretty elaborate house-capturing game in his fight. So there's a correlation between how powerful and competent a ruler is, and Rouxls' ability to craft puzzles and games.
So imagine what he might be capable of if he ever came into the employ of somebody with very intimate knowledge of Deltarune's game mechanics... somebody like that person who drove both Jevil and Spamton to insanity. And your theory here would be the perfect way that could happen. And then it's up to us whether we care enough - or are morbidly curious enough - to actually find him once he disappears. And what exactly such a search would entail, for Kris and the other main characters of Deltarune, the game's themes and motifs, and the nature of the nested worlds (e.g. Real(Light(Dark(Something else?))))
Thanks so much for sharing this with me! Rest assured it'll eat away at my grey matter for some time to come, which trust me, is the highest compliment I can give something here :D

The Ancient Magus' Bride S2 Episode 1: Live and Let Live
Tumblr media
A bit of a background for those that don't know. Studio Kafka is the team behind MahoYome S2, they handled one of the OVAs before tackling this full season, and they are an offshoot of WIT. This is their first full on production, and a sequel to a series that many have a strong affinity towards. Does this first episode live up to the expectations that WIT put in place, and does the new staff heading it up manage to keep things in check while providing their own style?
In short, I would say, "Very nearly so". I wouldn't say that they immediately manage to deliver on what fans are hoping for from them, but I also wouldn't say it's a let down in any sense of the word. It inhabits a state of limbo, as viewers wait with bated breath for a definitive slip up or success, neither of which is immediately apparent in this first episode.
So, allow me to address the elephant in the room: CGI. Yeah, that's about the extent of the challenges in this first episode (aside from some sound mixing issues that appear in one or two scenes). Surprisingly, it's not really anything like direction or design or art or anything like that, as the people in roles like character or color designer have carried over from WIT's tenure with the series. Anyways, The CGI doesn't blend all that well, the compositing is far from atrocious, but the moment it appears you immediately think, "ah yeah, that's CGI" in a sort of resigned fashion.
Tumblr media
But I think that's all that needs to be said about that. There's struggles, certainly, but Kafka is making the best use of what they have on hand. Their CGI expertise might not be absolutely incredible, but I think it's palatable enough for them to use it wherever so that they can put more effort into the other, more important pieces of the episode.
So let me move onto direction then. It's a new director, you can't really avoid challenges in the gear change from something so massive. It's not MahoYome S1, for sure, but with what we've seen I'm quite liking Kazuki's approach.
Though it's at risk of not being incredibly unique, I think it meshes very well with the overall tone and sentiment of MahoYome. From this first episode we can see what amounts to creative aggression. Intense camera angles, plenty of closeups, and lots of slow yet wide motions.
We're largely focused on eyes and feet in this episode, as they convey the emotions and thoughts of the characters more than their facial expressions manage. We're shown the backs of characters as they converse, their feet or shadows as they walk and talk. Much of the content is expressed through these close up moments, peeling back the superficial layer that decorates the story and characters to provide a more sincere look. Now, this has almost nothing to do with what I said, but take the following scene as an example.
Tumblr media
The overall layout is quite solid, showing that the conversation is predominantly involving Adolf and Chise, while Elias is left as a bystander to the whole affair. Going even further than that is how Adolf is "above" Chise in the scene, asserting the authority and relationship between the pair rather naturally. It's a really natural showing of the understanding and underlying expression that the characters have throughout the episode, but maybe I should show examples of what I did say earlier.
Tumblr media
Aside from being Sakuga of course, this little scene is a really nice way to show how the nurse (Alexandra Heath) is treating Chise. She comes off very personable and responsive, but at the end of the day she is an employee of the college and will act as one. It works even better considering the fact that Alexandra doesn't have regular human eyes, so the emotion ends up conveyed through scenes like this one.
Then there's stuff like this scene with Elias, putting his hand to his chest where we can't see his face. Elias is another prime candidate for Kazuki's direction since he doesn't have any facial expressions. Regardless, this simple action allows the episode to express the feeling of unease Elias has, and how scared he is despite not being able to really express it in words.
Tumblr media
And there's even scenes that speak to the obvious, like this one. Starting on Chise's left eye, it draws the viewer towards the talking point that Elizabeth makes.
Tumblr media
Okay okay, one last example because I love it. This one is really incredible because, it's both a literal and figurative reflection of Chisa. She's getting cold feet meeting her roommate, of all things. Why would that be? Well, the episode answers in kind, explaining that Chise's had a very hard time with friends and school. So, the reflection of herself that is starting back at her is the materialization of those glares and stares she got when she was a child, the very thing she fears in meeting her roommate.
Tumblr media
I think that about explains Kazuki's choice in direction, and I'd say it's one I'm already very comfortable with. The expression of emotions, and the challenge of doing so (particularly with Chise and Elias) is exactly the crux and driving force of MahoYome. Latching onto it and making the most of it is certainly something I'm happy to see, as it shows just how well the source material is understood.
Now, this might come as a surprise, but I've only read up until the end of the first season in the manga, so season 2 is all new material to me. Because of that, there's so much I'm learning and picking up about it already.
Firstly, I'm really loving the sort of reset button we've got going on with Chise. It's hard to continually amp a story up and up, so opting to circle back to what is usually seen as a beginning is really nice, especially given Chise's mental and emotional state now. She wants more, she wants to make friends and be happy, she wants to become more selfish.
This first episode really sells that sentiment quite well, as she's able to do things like talk with Alexandra about some of the side effects and issues she faces with being a Sleigh Beggy, and cursed by two different entities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Chise and Elias have come a far way from where they stood in season 1, and the story does a great job of expressing that. Rather than jealousy that someone else is spending time with Chise, or taking her away from him, Elias is scared of losing Chise. It's a small difference going from jealousy to fear, but it speaks to the great bounds of emotional development that Elias has gone through to arrive here. I certainly wouldn't call it more complex, but I would say that it's a far more mature response on his part, serving as a great opposition to Chise's more childlike nature appearing.
It's interesting, Elias is progressing with their emotional state, while Chise is attempting to regress somewhat, though building from nothing is easier than rebuilding from something. The two stories together create a really great dichotomy though, so I'm looking forward to seeing how things go as Chise begins to associate and relate to more people around her age.
And I think the last little thing I'll settle on is the world. I love the world of MahoYome, it's incredibly rich with magic, but has more than its share of dangers. It's both wide and deep, so you never know when you might fall off an edge and be reminded of the nature of magic in this series. Even take something as simple as the dorm matrons (who are cats). Whimsical and cute for sure, but they provide moments and dialogue that speak against that superficial nature (much like other magical entities have before). It really adds a unique air to the appeal of the world.
Tumblr media
So that's the first episode of MahoYome, not quite the first season, but far from a fall from grace. There's still lots of undecided aspects and pieces to the series, but this first episode does well to strike at the heart of MahoYome while providing a different approach to it.

I don't know if they're the question in here or I'm just here ramble, so I apologize in advance. I'm thinking a lot about Hogwarts Mystery.
I think that jam city really messed up by trying to create so many classmates for MC. if they had focused on the original four or so they could have done something really interesting with parallel arcs to what happened during Jacob's years.
for example we have MC dealing with this constant worry that maybe Jacob wasn't as good as they thought. or the idea that maybe he went crazy maybe he isn't who we thought he was. we also have the MC consistently dealing with visions and people not trusting them. they could grapple with this concept of can they even trust themself. and are they going to turn out like their brother.
Then we have Ben & Rowan and Duncan and Olivia.
Rowan dying in story was very bizarre because it didn't feel well set up in a lot of ways. the idea of them dying is interesting because they have such clear goals but in story it didn't work cuz where did they come from etc etc. but I think it could have worked in a thematic sense especially if we played into the parallel between Duncan and Rowan. If I'm remembering the lore correctly. Duncan and Jacob were best friends looking for the cursed vaults, they also probably got sucked into it a little bit too much at least Jacob did and Duncan must have gone along with it to some extent. Obsession seems to be a family trait and Roman deeply cared for MC. So them dying could play into this concept of history repeating itself.
It also could play into the concept of MC doubting themselves because their best friend is dead.
Moreover it would be even more thematic if Rowan were to come back as a ghost. in canon they didn't finish their goals and they died young, a perfect candidate. I love the idea that maybe there could be an extended arc where MC tries to make it up to Rowan or grapples with the fact that they cause them the state they're in. but we can also have a breaking of the cycle by allowing the MC and Ben a chance to reconcile with Rowan.
I don't know if any of this made sense if you're reading this thank you.
Rambling is quite literally the name of the game on this blog, dear anon. You are always welcome here with questions, comments, ideas, or anything else.
I sort of agree and disagree. I think the large ensemble of creative and interesting characters this game has given us is easily it’s greatest strength. However, there are too many. There are simply too many, more than the game knows what to do with. The developers keep adding more, rather than focusing on the existing cast. They add new characters even after a point where they’d have nothing to do. Victor and Alanza are perhaps the greatest victims of this phenomenon. They could have been cut. It would have changed very little. Honestly, I believe the game could handle far more than four characters, that it was doing just fine for a while with the cast it had, especially during the first half of Year 6 when it seemed like they were done adding brand new characters…but it wasn’t to be. Nonetheless, I’d be interested to see your version of events, where the game focuses on four core characters.
MC’s relationship with Jacob and how they feel about him was a major story development that affected everything about their character and the game’s mystery. Was. Everything about Jacob, including his moral ambiguity, seemed to fade away once he was rescued. He did nothing after that point, apart from a few obligatory appearances that didn’t live up to their full potential. He was there in the Sunken Vault, why did he get no rematch with Rakepick? Or even dialogue with her? Jacob would have served the story a lot better if…and this is going to sound cruel…if he had been the one to die in the Forbidden Forest. Because you’re right, Rowan’s death was weirdly dealt with. MC had barely interacted with them since Year 2.
But I think you’re right. There’s definitely an echo to be found here, between Duncan and Rowan. If Rowan had been present throughout the game’s story, it could have had more impact. I mean, their death was foreshadowed. Under the Imperius Curse, Rowan forced MC to choose between themself and Ben to die. Then there was the priceless line, “I’ll miss you when Madam Rakepick kills you.” The one thing I have to disagree with you on is Rowan coming back as a ghost. If this game wasn’t a prequel and it was possible for them to return and succeed Professor Binns, I suppose that would be one thing. But part of Rowan’s goal is the dramatic irony behind it. From the start, they wanted to be the youngest Professor in Hogwarts history, but we all knew that would never happen. Because we read the books, and Rowan wasn’t there. Beyond that…returning as a ghost is well established in this universe to be something most people don’t do. That it’s only an imitation of existence that people choose because they fear death, and thus never get to know the afterlife. They don’t get to board a train. I don’t think Rowan would do that, and that point is made in the Head Kid TLSQ, my all time favorite quest.

I always figured that Silver got decoupled from time after the mess that was 06. If Sonic and Blaze remember the events to some extent, why wouldn't it have effects on everyone else? Everyone else that was there at the end was from the present, and since Silver shows up later I think it makes sense that slotting him into the revised timeline didn't work perfectly.
That also makes sense. It is rather strange that Silver appears in Rivals again, despite the fact that he, for all intents and purposes, should have been fully wiped from time after Solaris' flame got blown out. The history of the world is so different from that point onwards without the release of Iblis, it's highly unlikely that Silver got born again normally. For me, it thus does make sense that there is some kind of force at play that ensured he existed again in Rivals with exactly the same appearance and powers... but as for what that is and how it works, I have no clue. And we don't know anything about what his life in the future has been like: if he got born to parents and grew up into a fourteen-year-old, or if he just popped out of nowhere as said fourteen-year-old with no history to speak of, or any other possible scenario here. Since he and Eggman Nega seem to know each other, he must have existed in the new future for at least a little while, is the one thing I feel we can conclude with any certainty.
Then again, I doubt that Sega really put a lot of thought into Silver's impossible existence; Sonic '06's plot is already a massive paradox-riddled chaos to begin with, so the fact that Silver still exists after the whole course of history got changed is hardly even the biggest issue there, lol. Nor do I think Sega will really dive into it much sometime in the future, since there is simply no reason for them to do so. All this stuff happened more than fifteen years ago, and Silver's alleged role as the third main male hedgehog (because they named him Silver partly to ensure future games with his name would be near Sonic's) very quickly got shot down with how hated '06 and he were. Right now with the state of the franchise and the lack of (strong) focus on any character who isn't the main four plus Shadow and Eggman and maybe Metal Sonic, I doubt that Sega will ever suddenly begin giving all sorts of backstory information for Silver of all characters. He's not exactly the most popular character to be giving that attention to, I think. Regarding Silver's existence in Rivals and onwards, I myself like to think that Silver somehow got 'reincarnated' by divine intervention, and got born and grew up as the Silver we know (with his appearance, powers, and personality from '06) 'normally' in the future. Maybe that divine intervention took pity on him after everything that happened in '06 and therefore gave him a second shot at life, wherein he could protect the future successfully. But Silver's future, his time travel and its consequences, and his history are shrouded in mystery and confusion, and I figure there might not be any decent and logical clarity about it anytime soon. But then again, time travel always has such issues attached to it since it is paradoxical by nature, haha. And it does allow for many different ways to think about how the Silver from '06 could have ended up in Rivals and onwards!

I would love to here you info dump about your ocs if you want to?
Grinning evily, I SHALL DO SO!
So ik its been a while since i've really drawn or talked about my boys but a refresher for everyone is i have an OC universe/story loosely titled Flesh and Bone with is a The Thing inspired story featuring my Oc's Clay, Damien and Jack! All three work on a shady arctic base run by an evil corp unbeknownst to them, and after a sequence of horrible incidence and creature attacks Clay is 'killed' only to come back as! Some sort of slopbeast thing monster! He's cool and chill though, not a threat to anyone; hes a wet bag of nerves desperately trying to maintain his shape as the man he was once before, because thats who he is!! It's a story about identity (both in all my main cast being trans men but also in the more metaphorical and subtextual reading of. Clays whole deal lmao) and exploring what that means, and its also about three gay fruits experiencing THE HORRORS!
I have not written it, it's far too big a task rn, but thats the basic idea <3 everyone can always feel free to check the flesh and bone tag or any oc tags (ie oc: damien, oc: clay, oc: jack ect) on my blog to see stuuuuuuff about it!
MORE BELOW THE CUT, LIKE WAY WAY MORE SO MUCH LMAO, and as always heads up for horror themed when it comes to my lil oc's and their world <3
Lately a lot of what i've been thinking about with my oc's has been the physical changes that happen throughout the time they spend trapped in that research base, because they are there for a LONG time they do look different than they do at the start! Obviously there's the general stuff like Damien's hair growing long and the roots showing, Clay's facial hair getting scruffy and his hair getting long and unruly too, jack cutting all his long hair off (too dangerous to wield a flamethrower frequently with all that hair in the way in his learned opinion); but then there's the more physical side of going through this really tough time too, more than just aesthetic changes like hair and clothing changes. The most obvious is yes, Clay IS just a writhing mass of meat that replicates the appearance he wants to be seen as; yes including his clothes his scarf has a heartbeat don't worry about it. But then there's stuff that's not Whatever the hell Clay's deal is; Jack loses a leg, they all gain a multitude of new scars, this is a long, tough situation to survive and none of them are untouched by this- but thats part of the point! You can go through traumatic stuff and you can make it through, it might change you, it might change stuff about you, sometimes in ways you cant undo, but you can still make it through!! And you can still be loved as you rightfully deserved, and you can live a long happy peaceful life!! Thats a big part of the heart of *waves hands* what i am doing in my head with my oc's.
When i can draw for longer periods again i'd like to make reference sheets with 3 views of each character on each, a before, during, and after.
Another thing i've been thinking of lately is the day comes back after 'dying'! And its both horrific and later funny so i like it a lot.
So. Thing style monster drags him away screaming from the base, he is torn to shreds, the last person to see him alive is Damien and he watches that thing tear him *apart*. Everyones pretty certain he's very dead.
Days pass.
Then Clay wakes up in a hollowed out ice cave, one thats been melted into this larger open space by the pile of dead flesh and meat that has been dumped inside it, the pile that he has also been dumped in. It reeks, its horrific, he has to climb and clamber his way to the top in a state of abject disgust and horror; he doesn't remember how he got here. He doesn't remember anything past that thing getting a hold of him. (Unbeknownst to him he IS that thing but he'll figure that out later, he kind of does know that to an extent but not on any conscious level nor is he willing to accept it to much later, boys in denial. When it killed him and ate his flesh for some reason it fucked the beast up and fully replaced whatever it was before with his memories and consciousness so this is him now, the body he had before is gone, this is Clay now)
The only way out of this cave is a very narrow passage leading up, he starts to try and crawl in. Too tight, he doesn't fit. He keeps trying and trying in sobbing desperation until....he.....does fit. Shoulders give way, he slides in, this gap too small to rightfully fit his head through he is somehow now fitting through. He's going to pretend he isn't, he's not a stupid man but he fully cannot cope with comprehending his body moving as if boneless right now, his brain cannot cope nor begin to even parse the possibility that he is morphing like slimy slipper meatgoop to fit through here. He escapes, collapses out there on the ice for a bit miles from the base. He cries for a bit. Repeats in his head over and over that that hole was big enough for him, it was normal, he crawled normally, it was normal and fine. And then he eventually starts walking through freezing winds and blizzards in the direction he hopes the base is.
NOT FUNNY YET I KNOW, BARE WITH ME. ITS THE NEXT BIT OK
Clay reaches the base eventually and climbs through a window, enters the currently empty dining hall. He's back! He is. So so mentally checked out and traumatised and FUCKED from his experience that all he can think to do is just....go back to normal, pretend it never happened. He sits down. Pours himself a coffee in his favourite mug.
Footsteps echo closer, people are coming.....
jack and Damien walk in and freeze. They stare at Clay.
Clay stares at them.
'H-hey!' He says, waving over, 'you uh! You guys are up early!'
DAMIEN GRABS JACKS ARM, GET THE FLAMETHROWER HE SAYS
CLAY GOES OOP!!!!!
(Art of this moment memorialised forever by my beloved boyfriend @subsequentibis btw!!)
Tumblr media
AND CLAY THEN SCHWOOPS LIKE LIQUIDY MEAT UP INTO A CEILING VENT AND REASSURES HIMSELF THAT THE GRATE WAS DEFINITELY OFF THE VENT AND HE DIDNT JUST FIT THROUGH TINY TINY HOLES ITS FINE ITS NORMAL ITS FINE ITS FINE, AND HIDES IN THE VENTS FOR A BIT. LMAO, LOVE MY SILLY COMEDY BIT

What do you think of Agatha?
I know that asking for your opinion about a character who only appeared in one scene is unreasonable, but my question is only about your expectations
She was presented as the third opponent after Francis and Fyodor, and since the natural course of any story line requires that the next opponent be stronger, smarter, or rather more dangerous than the previous one, does this mean that Agatha is a more dangerous opponent than Francis or Fyodor
It's important to note that chapter 12 doesn't show Fukuchi but Fyodor, who is his subordinate, I want to know your opinion on this point
Agatha was also identified as the first knight of the clock tower, this definition indicates that she is of a very high rank, but it does not mean that she is the leader of the organization like Fyodor
Does chapter 12 include the main antagonists targeting the book / Yokohama in particular
Francis wanted the book to revive his daughter, and for that he was going to throw the Moby-Dick in Yokohama
Fyodor stated that he needed the book to erase those with abilities and create a world without sin
Fukuchi aims to destroy politicians, this is his goal and it seems that he uses the power of the book as a means only, he does not need the book but only one page
It seems that the book and finding it is not a direct goal for him like Francis and Fyodor
Agatha showed a desire to burn Yokohama, and she might also want the book
What do you think of these as the main antagonists, is Agatha more dangerous than Fyodor or not? Do you think she is of great minds ( Fyodor and Dazai ) or of great physical strength ( Francis and Fukuchi )
And what are your expectations about the clock tower arc?
Sorry for the length
Hello again!
I don't really have specific expectations on Agatha, but I am super excited to meet her!
Once again, as for the Hirotsu's ask, I don't care about power level. Her coming after Fyodor and Fitzgerald doesn't have to mean she is stronger or smarter (even if I am obviously expecting her to be a powerhouse), but simply that the conflict around the book is changing hopefully leading the plot to move forward.
In general, I think she is gonna embody some kind of societal evil... like Fitzgerald is capitalism to an extent, while Fukuchi is the military. She is meant to represent an abroad country (like Fitz), but also a political power (like Fukuchi). Because of this, I am expecting her power to come from the society and the world as a whole tbh. After all, And then There Were None is the world's best selling mystery, so I am expecting this to count somehow symbolically :''').
As for Fyodor, I honestly think his position is kind of unique compared to other enemies because of his foiling with Dazai. He is Dazai's antagonist and I am expecting him to be important throughout the whole story tbh.
Thank you for the ask!

I had another supposed friend who ended up reducing himself to shit to scrape off my shoe. When I started to change, the people who really cared for me showed some resistance, but were ultimately happy for me. Why wouldn't they? They had only to gain from the new and better me.
The pieces of shit who are only using you, understand this, man.
They can drop you at any second. You're 100% conditional. They have no real attachments to you. That's how you can fuckin suss em out.
If you defend yourself, and they're hurt -- they're really attached to you. They expect to be with you. They don't wanna hurt you. They've given something up and entered into what we might call a state of reliance.
If someone's trying to farm you, you know -- if you're only resources to em, nothing more -- they're gonna keep their distance. In every regard.
Is that true? Who's trying to game who?
To what extent does one differ unspoken in their mutual lack of shared assumptions? Say, if one assumes dignity to be a universal human right and responds to another organism with empathy, that individual is going to be playing a very different "game" from someone who only looks upon others as ogres and monsters and so needs to jack to the beanstalk ya, hyping up their own hero myth as they swindle ya?
This other person, I wanna talk about him even less than the other guy, so I won't very much. If I'm talkin in circles around him, you can envision me givin him a swirlie, nice and long -- holdin his face under but refraining from the ease of material will to flush via the handle.
You might say the words are circling his ears submerged: urging the waters to swirl of their own volition, but alas they cannot -- he is gargling, he is flailing; he does not feel safe and supported held within my grasp.
I'd known him since high school. He was fourteen and I was seventeen. He said he used to be a bully, but I didn't take him seriously cause he was too much of a twerp. He was visibly making advances on a girl in my year who I was friends with, and in retrospect I wonder if being a rat bastard he just wanted any woman who got close to me.
Suppose I never really did think about how hot and manly I appeared from his perspective before. How much he wanted my fat white dick and meine schwesterfrau's Fat Jewish Ass.
Fuck, why was I friends with him? He was a tight, sloppy little hole for my brainwashing, mostly. I think you need to accept some boys you just like to mindrape, you cute lil Athenian pederast.
Years later, we were running laps at the track every day, and after I viciously roasted his ass for being such a white boy cause back then I had a very When In Rome attitude towards other men's racial degradation kinks ... he confided in me the degree to which he had been bullied for being pale skinned in addition to booklearned and tech savy, which is a real triple whammy in Mexican cultures which, as Francis from Malcolm in the Middle explained to his Hot Alaskan Wife, is very big on machismo. ( When I self-depreciate it's so subtle, and yet ultimately at your expense, for when else would I self-depreciate, dear boy?)
From that day forward, I decided, in the spirit of fraternity and egalitarianism, to stop roasting his ass for being white.
We are, after all, all victims of the same injustices, simply manifest in different ways, and it does us no good to needlessly repeat manufactured violence at one another, as though in some group-trance?
Big mistake.
What was clear from the beginning was that he was torn between a hyper-traditional, hyper-conformist guilt-based Catholic home life and a covertly-traditional, overtly-conformist guilt-based Progressive work life, and didn't fit into either, and was so accumulating clear contradiction.
What I expected ... naively ... was that he could manage these contradictions by focusing on right value and logical cause.
It didn't occur to me, the degree to which he would naturally sadomasochistically adapt to his conditions, crave his subjugation, the sheer degree to which his actions contradicted his words and his words contradicted his actions. The way the ideologies he gravitated to were selling his own resentment back to him in a divisive nice-economy which results in Academic Total War. A whole bubbling dark mirror universe of torpid hatreds and midnight passions, none of which I wanted anything to do with cause he was such a drippy little faggot, oh my god.
Basically, my effortlessly exploiting his racial trauma and repeating his formative bullying to him made me feel safe and familiar and like a member of his in-group, and then when I stopped doing that... I felt distant and threatening. Then when I felt distant and threatening and told him the truth about himself, I seemed so uncanny it broke his mind.
Not only was I now an other, I was simply a blank canvas onto which he could project all his latent negative aspirations and assumptions.
I had been reduced to the vicious cliche of a toxic white American male and now all his covert lusts and hatreds were fixated on me.
The things he said just gave himself away.
The things he belted out showed what he valued and what he was after.
I could feel our friendship die as I understood the person I thought he was had become composed entirely of blank spaces, outdated impressions, fashionable adaptations -- that he was truly a paper mache Patrick Bateman and yes Patrick Bateman really is that much of a geeky faggot, holy shit. Do you actually think in his head he was suave?
Amazing. That kid must have had some imagination.
Maybe that's why you saw so much in him.
Almost instinctually, I gained more insight into the dark paradoxical nature of the doomed romance at the heart of David Lynch's 2001 erotic surreal masterpiece Mulholland Dr. where the unspoken resentment of narcissistic aspiration is more liable to erupt and consume same-sex relationships, where each partner directly models the other.
Was Diane and Camilla being a mixed-raced couple as much an element of fascination as them being lesbians and film actresses?
Who can say?
I... the whole time I was reading tumblr porn and telling myself how stupid this shit is and how nobody could think like this, and yet...
It was all true.
Was that why I was drawn to it?
Did I always already know?
Ignoring my dick made me profoundly stupid.
This is the takeaway.
That, and when a beaner wants to get called a beaner, you should squish his ass into a burrito and step on it, smear that shit off some mat.

This is an 18+ post. Minors dni.
Tumblr media
"Fuyuhiko? Where are you?"
Your voice echoed throughout your empty living room as you entered your shared appartment. You had been away for a business trip for a couple days, whilst your loving boyfriend Fuyuhiko stayed home. You were so excited to see him again, I mean, who wouldn't be? Being away from your significant other for only a couple days can often feel like weeks, and it most definitely felt that way for the two of you, too.
"Fuyuhikooo? honey?" you called out again, a hint of worry and confusion now present in your voice.
No response. Huh, that's weird. You had texted him that you'd be home in about fifteen minutes, and he replied saying that he'd be home to welcome you back. So why isn't he here?
You sighed and dropped your suitcase on the floor, taking your heels off as you were still wearing your formal work clothing. Your usual work clothing consisted of a nice formfitting black skirt, a silk white blouse and sleek black heels. It all accentuated your features and curves perfectly, yet you always felt like all your colleagues were staring at you.
You neatly set your shoes aside and walked a couple steps further into the living room, scratching the back of your head as you glanced around the empty room. Suddenly, you noticed something red laying on the floor.
An immediate rush of panic washed over you and your body froze, as you had experienced this sort of thing countless times. With Fuyuhiko being in his line of work, it was almost commonplace for him to come home injured every now and then. After all, he never really stops working. Some wounds were worse than others, and so you feared something might've happened in those fifteen minutes before you arrived home. You slowly peered over to take a closer look, and...
...Is that a rose petal?
Just then, you hear the front door open behind you and you turn around in shock. It's Fuyuhiko, standing in the doorway with a huge bouquet of flowers in one hand and a bag from the local grocery store in the other.
"W-...What..?" you stutter, the rush of panic from a second ago having not completely gone away.
"Ah, shit," Fuyuhiko mumbles, as if caught red handed. You stare at him for a second and you see a faint blush appear on his face.
"Um, welcome back baby! Shit, haha... I thought I had just a little more time before you came home, and I uh... I wanted to surprise you," he rambled, the blush on his cheeks only appearing redder with every second he kept talking. "S-So I went to the store to get some things..."
Dumbfounded by what your boyfriend who was awkwardly standing in the doorway had just said, you felt your cheeks burn up in an instant as well. You weren't used to him being this... Romantic. You know he loves it when you shower him with love and affection, but you never expected him to return the favor, so to speak. I mean sure, he's told you countless times that he loves you, but never to this extent. Those days apart must've really done something to him...
Fuyuhiko stepped inside and awkwardly closed the door behind him, carefully placing his bag of groceries and the flower bouquet on the floor before rushing over towards you and hugging you tightly. You embraced him back and dug your face into his shoulder, letting out a soft sigh as you could finally relax, knowing you had nothing to worry about.
God, you were so happy to see him again.
"I love you, and I missed you," he spoke, his hands slowly moving down your back to rest on your hips. He moved his head and looked deeply into your eyes before pulling you into a passionate kiss. You could tell by the way he kissed that he really missed you, as his kisses were intense and sloppy. He started planting wet kisses along your neck and shoulders while still holding you in a tight embrace, pressing your body against his.
"You look so fuckin' pretty in that..." he remarked, one of his hands gliding further down to squeeze your ass. You gasped softly, finally realising how in need you were for his touch. "Fuck, I missed you so much.."
Even though it felt like you two were being pulled together like magnets, you eventually managed to pull away for a second to look into your feisty boyfriend's eyes once more. "W-What, um... what did you have planned for us..?" you asked, curious to know what was in the bag of groceries Fuyuhiko had brought with him. "The flowers are beautiful, by the way... Thank you," you smiled.
Slightly caught off guard by your sudden question, Fuyuhiko's grin quickly grew. "I uh... I wanted to prepare a nice dinner for us. I bought some expensive wine, too. And then maybe afterwards we could, y'know..."
He stopped there, because both of you knew exactly what he meant. You could tell he was holding back by not finishing his sentence. In reality, he wanted nothing more than to press you against the nearest wall and fuck your brains out. Those days apart seemed to never end, and he missed every inch of you. Your beautiful hair, your soft skin, those wonderful moans and whimpers you'd let out every time he was fucking you...
You smiled and turned around to take a closer look at where you spotted that rose petal earlier.
The sly bastard had made a whole fucking trail of rose petals leading to your bedroom.
"Hm, not a bad idea... but I've got an even better one." You said as you looked into his eyes, a feeling of pure love and arousal awakening inside you as you slowly made your way towards him.
"Oh yeah? What's that?" Fuyuhiko asked, noticing the slight change in your demeanor. You gently grabbed his hands and placed them around your sides, stealing another kiss from his freckled lips. You brought your face closer to his ear and whispered something to him that immediately made him throw all his mental restrictions out the window.
"Let's skip dinner and go straight to dessert."
After saying that, you instantly felt Fuyuhiko's grip on you tighten, and you could've sworn you heard a soft growl escape his lips before he hungrily pressed his lips against yours once again. You stumbled backwards until you hit the wall next to your bedroom door with a loud thump, as his fingers quickly moved to unbutton your silk blouse. At that point, all you wanted was each other. No fancy dinner, no wine, no idle chit-chat... Just you and him, feeling each other's skin pressed against one another and never letting go again.
He wanted to feel every inch of you. He wanted to hear you moan out his name. He wanted you to leave scratches on his back and see your eyes roll back as you told him that you loved him. He wanted everything.
Being apart from you for only a couple days made him realise how much he actually cared for you. You had never really been apart for this long and it made him go crazy. Every day he would think about you and imagine all the things he'd do to you once you got back home. It almost physically hurt him, not being able to hold you in his arms as he laid awake in bed those nights. You always said you were his and that he was yours forever, but in that moment, he realised he wanted to make it official (in whatever way he saw fit).
In a matter of seconds, your white blouse and laced bra were thrown on the ground as you were both frantically trying to undress each other. Fuyuhiko wasted no time and hungrily started sucking on one breast, squeezing the other. You let out soft moans in response and wrapped one leg around his waist, trying to pull him even closer to you.
"M-Mmh... F-Fuyuhiko, please... I-I want to feel you," you mumbled, desperate for him to fuck you like he always did. He liked to tease, but you weren't in the mood for that this time. The need was high, and you couldn't wait for him to be inside you.
"Hold on baby, I want to taste you first..." he replied, letting go of the breast he was sucking on and kissing you everywhere whilst making his way down. He was on his knees and he carefully lifted up your formfitting skirt to expose your beautifully laced panties. He stared at them in awe for a second, the longing to taste you only growing more and more.
He gently but quickly pulled them down in one swift motion, exposing your wet pussy. You heard a soft grunt from between your legs and felt his warm hands hold a tight grip on your legs.
"Turn around for me, baby."
You did as he asked, now facing the wall with your hands supporting you as you leaned into it. His hands were exploring your backside and squeezing your ass, a feeling you didn't know you had missed this much until now. Feeling his breath against your inner thighs, you felt shivers going up your spine and a soft whimper escaped your lips.
As he couldn't possibly contain himself any longer, Fuyuhiko hungrily started lapping at your folds while stimulating your clit with his fingers. You let out a louder moan than you were expecting, but at this point neither of you cared. Fuck, he's so good at that. You felt your body start to tremble and your climax was already fast approaching, his tight grip on your thighs as he was eating you out making it even better.
"F-Fuyuhiko, fuck, I-I'm going to-" you said, feeling your mind blanking as you nearly tipped over. He heard you loud and clear and quickly started picking up his pace, hitting all the right spots with his skilled tongue. Before you knew it, you were shaking uncontrollably as your first orgasm of the day washed over you, incoherently babbling his name as you rode out your high.
"F-Fuck, Fuyuhi- Ah! F-Fu..."
As little beads of sweat started forming on your forehead and you panted heavily from your intense orgasm, Fuyuhiko quickly stood up and turned you around, immediately starting to kiss and plant hickeys on your neck.
"S/o, I fucking want you, right now," he whispered, his lustful tone giving you goosebumps all over. His profanity in the bedroom was so incredibly hot, you couldn't possibly begin to describe it.
As he got hold of you again, you quickly stumbled into your bedroom and fell onto your kingsized bed, never once breaking your passionate kiss. Once you were laying there, you looked around and noticed the flower petals scattered around the room and the lit candles on your bedside tables. A surprised giggle escaped you and Fuyuhiko grinned widely in response.
"You like it? I did this for you, baby..."
All you could do was nod, because no words could possibly describe this. You pulled him in for another kiss before he quickly got up and started undressing himself. The way he undid his tie was something that always turned you on for some reason. He just looked so manly, it made you crazy.
As he was busy undressing himself, you wasted no time in taking off the remainder of your clothing until you were both completely naked. He threw himself onto you and needily continued kissing you all over, leaving a trail of hickeys and faint bite marks all over your body. You couldn't wait any longer. You needed to feel him inside you.
"Fuyuhiko, please.. Please fuck me, I want you inside me," you pleaded, the desperation in your voice making him even harder than he already was.
Without another word, he pulled open your legs and positioned himself against your soaking entrance. God, that look he gave you made you melt instantly. You looked into each others eyes for a brief moment before he pushed himself into you, filling you up instantly. You let out a wanton moan in response to the feeling of finally having him inside you again, something you longed for ever since the first day you were apart. You grabbed hold of his arms and held on tight as he quickly started moving his hips, aroused moans and grunts filling the room.
"G-Goddammit, I missed you so fucking much... You feel so good baby, f-fuck..!"
Heavy panting, loud moans and profanity echoed throughout your apartment. Fuyuhiko was pounding into you at a godly speed, yet still managed to make every thrust sensual and loving. He was fairly average in length, but this man knew what he was doing. His pace and all the other things he would do made for such an amazing fucking that you'd never want anyone else.
"S/o, I-I love you, I love you so fucking much," he mumbled, burying his face in the crook of your neck as he slowed his pace, putting more pressure behind every thrust which made you squirm and tremble from pleasure.
"I-I love you too baby."
He stopped gently nibbling on your neck and raised his head to look at you. A moment passed, his cheeks were bright red and his gaze felt like it was piercing right through you.
"S/o, W-Will you marry me?"
"W-What?!" you exclaimed, utterly perplexed by his sudden proposal. I mean, you were in the midst of having sex! But still... You felt like it seemed so right. In the time you had been apart it made everything fall into place. You were meant for each other. And somehow... This felt like the right time.
"Y-Yes, Yes! I will!" you smiled, pulling him into another loving kiss. He didn't need to say anything else, his reaction said everything you needed to know. He was ecstatic to have you as his bride. A huge smile appeared on his face, and that same smile quickly transformed into a lustful grin as he finally started bucking his hips again. A breathless moan escaped you, and pulled him into a tight embrace.
Fuyuhiko quickly picked up his pace again with his newfound excitement, and managed to throw your legs over his shoulders so he could pound into you even deeper than before. Your back arched and all you could bring out were incoherent moans and screams. You let your nails dig into his back and he let out a surprised yet aroused moan in response.
"S-S/o, I'm gonna cum soon... Fuck, p-please I want to cum inside you," he groaned, leaning forward to lustfully suck on your tits. "I want to make you mine."
For someone with such a babyface, he really knew what to say and what to do to push you over the edge. You felt the knot inside your stomach grow bigger with every thrust and you desperately nodded in agreement.
"Y-Yes baby, please, keep going- A-Ah!"
With his last few thrusts, you felt the knot inside you untangle and you moaned out his name in pure bliss, feeling his thick seed paint your walls. Your head shot back and your eyes closed as your mind drew blank, the high of your second orgasm almost being too much to handle.
His strained moans eventually died down as you felt the last drops of cum shoot out of him, collapsing on top of you and immediately planting kisses all over you again. He was so in love with you, it felt like he was on cloud nine. Hell, he even came inside you. He rarely does that, since he just loves the sight of you swallowing it or playing with it once he cums all over you. But not today. He wanted to make you his.
You laid there in silence for a moment to catch your breath, feeling the fog inside your mind slowly clear up. Once he pulled out, you could feel the mix of your juices slowly seep out of you, and it was such a satisfying feeling.
He plopped down next to you and you snuggled up against him, giving him a couple of small pecks on his cheek. Your fingers gently ran through his short blonde hair as you stared into each other's eyes. You were the happiest you could've ever been in that moment, and neither of you ever wanted it to end.
"So... how about that dinner I promised? I mean, we have something to celebrate after all."

wait wait hold up i am actually seething about the reveal
ya boi's not a dabi stan. at all. the only reason i'm remotely interested in his character is if he's actually related to shouto and how that would affect hero society in general. i remember reading the training camp arc, seeing him being one of the villains there, him saying todoroki's full name, and thinking "SIBLINGS?????" because agshdfjlk their EYES are SO SIMILAR!! i really want to give credit to horikoshi being able to portray their similarities from artstyle alone because that's talent.
Tumblr media
(it's more apparent in the anime since you see the eye color— but appearance-wise, shouto takes after rei and dabi takes after enji the most, so this definitely isn't the best photo to prove my point...)
anyways,,,, dabi's ideals of heroics fall in line with stain's ideals and so we all already theorized how if he was the long lost big brother touya, it would be because of the fact that his father really wasn't a hero. this makes sense. and so, we're all fucking right. props to us, really, and props to horikoshi for all the foreshadowing because i had fun :)) in terms of story and plot, i think this reveal is fantastic.
alright, on to why dabi is a dick
(i'm assuming this was his choice and no one pressured him after all)
the todoroki family is on the road to recovery!!
- shouto finally visits his mother back in season 2 and visits her every chance he gets. you see the effort he makes and it's nice to see him change from season 1 to 2 (early-roki!!)
Tumblr media
(guys he even sends her letters- look at that sparkle by his face!! he's sweet :)) and rei's smile!!!!)
- enji (whether we wanted it or not, i don't mind much personally) is trying to atone for everything he's done to his family
- natsuo, who originally wasn't fond of shouto because he had their father's attention (although he does come to the horrible realization that shouto was one of the most unfortunate) and mother's attention (because she wanted to protect shouto), has a closer relationship with his little brother now (can you believe he didn't even know shouto's favorite food was cold soba until ch. 192?? i was sobbing). he really regrets the prejudice he had against shouto and he's trying to be an actual brother to him now.
- rei's almost recovered enough to be released from the hospital!!
- fuyumi and her idyllic "happy family"– wHICH, BY THE WAY, ALMOST CAME TO FRUITION. their mother coming home, shouto connecting with his siblings, and enji being not-the-way-he-was-before is the best outcome they could have hoped for. and it was happening.
and i realize that all of that setup is for this very moment
Tumblr media
this? this. this. this is being broadcasted. to everyone. that means the citizens know that their new #1 hero is directly related to a member of a really bad villain organization (i almost called it a terrorist group oop-).
Tumblr media
by ruining endeavor, the citizens faith in heroes will collapse. this also affects shouto's reputation as an upcoming hero, and i am so terrified of what this could mean for him. imagine your career ending before it even started, just when you found your passion for being a hero again. all that progress he's made for himself since starting UA could be seen as pointless to him and i would hate for him to retrogress like that because it's not his fault. i would absolutely hate it if the media starts bashing shouto for being related to a villain, when he was also a victim of abuse.
seeing this look on shouto's face is making me dehydrated istg i'm fucking SOBBING— he doesn't even look angry!! in the last few chapters he was angry and worried for his friends, teachers, father maybe, other heroes... but he just looks sad. and the fact that the panel chooses to show the left side of his face is.... there's so much to unpack.
but yeah, this is being broadcasted. does fuyumi know? the cameo she had showed her working so maybe not. natsuo's cameo showed that he was at a lecture, so he also probably didn't see.
Tumblr media
but rei did. that's like- that's the person i would want to keep this from the most.
the effects of this entire reveal genuinely scare me. how will this affect rei's mental state? she'll realize that what enji did is actually so much worse. their first child being a villain?? i'm terrified for how she'll react, she's doing much better in recent chapters after all. her kids are visiting her, shouto sends her letters to keep in touch, and enji sends her flowers and respectfully keeps his distance. i really don't want this reveal to result in a relapse. and if she does relapse, then fuyumi's ideal of a happy family is once again out of arms reach. the future of their mother finally coming back home is so far away again and it's genuinely so heart-breaking.
Tumblr media
:(
plus— how will fuyumi's little elementary school students react to her being related to a villain? will the school fire her because of her connection to a villain and how that might cause concerns for students and parents????
it's also hard to say exactly how this will affect shouto and natsuo. natsuo was the closest to touya when they were kids so what would his whole opinion be of what touya's become? will he have a moral crisis?
in terms of moral crisises, i guess i'm more concerned about shouto. the boy knows he wants to forgive his father, but this is just making it so much harder. and after this, will he still want to? and finding out that his own sibling is a villain... remember the stain arc? there were some parallels between midoriya's, iida's, and todoroki's positions in the last chapter and i'm worried about what that could foreshadow. from that arc alone, we know that shouto doesn't agree with stain's views at all [i forgot what he said but it was really compelling]. we know that dabi's a stain follower though, so will this disrupt shouto's sense of justice? i hope not.
but family has always been kind of a weak spot for shouto, hasn't it? i hope this doesn't affect his resolve to be a hero because i do think that there's a way to– somehow– not have a corrupt hero society and i want him to fight for that.
touya being a villain is perfectly valid though, i don't doubt that. it's just disheartening to address that while every other todoroki was working hard to become a normal family, here's their oldest brother, who's not really dead. what's going to become of that altar at their house now?
learning the extent to touya's hatred towards endeavor is truly terrifying. we know enji is or was a horrible person and his redemption arc is based on the very fact that he can't be forgiven, despite some of his family trying their best to do so or at least get over it. but the fact that touya has even thought about killing shouto? that's just. ouch. touya's definitely gone through too much abuse, and all of the todoroki family problems are because of enji's bad parenting. but this does not justify murder and especially that of his younger brother, who also got the brunt of the abuse.
needless to say, i am a fool. i don't know if anything i just said will ever be true, but the important thing to take from whatever the heck i just shat out is that all of this is/could be a result of this reveal. it's the fact that dabi seems to have no sympathy. it's the fact that he doesn't care if his blood related family crashes and burns. really, if this is solely about endeavor and what he did, there's no need to bring the rest of the family into this. rei was sent to a hospital for god's sake. shouto has a scar. it's excessive and unmoral and although questionable ethics and values are key traits of a villain, it doesn't justify how much he's hurting the todorokis.
Tumblr media
(look at this shit eating grin he has. no remorse. he really doesn't give a shit about the others but I DO and I'M so SAD)
and assuming that the whole "endeavor's wife admitted into hospital" was swept under the rug in terms of media, will that suddenly come back to light? because it shouldn't. maybe it should be known that she's in the hospital because of marital abuse but either way rei should not be dragged back into this disaster, and neither should the rest of them. there's also a chance that the media will accuse rei of having abused her kids too, which is messed up for different reasons. they're trying so hard to have any semblance of a normal family, and if dabi's way of revealing this to the world ruins that in any way then i hATE THIS REVEAL ASDFGHJKL—

For the love of god, please consider renaming some cats, I've seen names like
"One-Eye, Halftail, Oddfoot, FLIPCLAW (what kind of prefix is 'Flip'?) Twigbranch, Clawface etc. Don't get me started on those atrocious SkyClan names with KITTYPET PREFIXES
Harrybrook, Snookthorn, Rileypool
Like tf?
so i'm going to start with saying! as a general rule, i love these names. i will address them each in turn, but i don't have a problem with warriors having "bad names," i have a problem with names that don't make sense given their context.
it does not make sense for blackfoot to be named blackkit, when he's mostly white. (and, as a colorpoint cat, i assume, would be born entirely white.) etc.
but i have no problem with bellaleaf, because well, yeah! makes sense to me.
after all, leaf was named leafdapple, why shouldn't bella be named bellaleaf.
i'm going to discuss each name you brought up in turn, and then, under the cut, i'm going to ramble about naming philosphies.
one-eye: i'm fine with this. i don't mind cats being named after their disabilities, not when it's an established part of warriors culture. (even if it doesn't happen anymore because people would be pissed about it.) i don't know if i think it's right, or if i think cats would have a problem with it, but i think it's good. i'd like to think most cats wouldn't have a problem with it, though. that said, for one-eye in particular, her name was already white-eye, so it feels redundant. food for thought, i suppose.
halftail: i'm not okay with this, because he lost...half his tail? trust me, as someone who had a cat with half a tail, you don't notice it. doesn't make sense. he can keep sparrowpelt, altho tbh i almost always forget about him.
oddfoot: oops i forget him initially! i actually assumed he was named odd because of numbers or something, but apparently it’s a deadfoot situation. we don’t know his kit name, so i’ll assume he was named as either an apprentice or a warrior to fit. it wouldn’t make sense for him to just have the prefix odd, and i’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he didn’t. if he did, however, i would have a problem with it because that makes his name a compound name, not because his leader renamed him.
flipclaw: i don't have a problem with it. what kind of name is flipkit? the kind of name a mother would give who looks a lot like the cat who traumatized her, i think. more importantly, i think it's cute! doesn't bother me. would i name an oc flipkit? probably not, but that's just me.
twigbranch: oh no i love her name. i love it! it's so cute. it means something, too! it has meaning. nope. no one is taking twigbranch away from me. i love it.
clawface: mixed. i don't really have a problem with a cat being named clawkit, but it feels...violent. shrug. i don't like it, but like, i also don't like sandynose.
and i won't directly address skyclan because uh i already stated my thoughts on them.
skyclan in particular, tho, it actually makes a lot of sense for their names to be like that. there is no reason to apply any clan norms to skyclan names.
i really hope they keep their names, too. tradition and legacy of names is important to them (pebbleshine and violetshine for the most direct example, but it's everywhere), and i want that to stay. i love that leafstar named her kit harrykit. never change skyclan.
as always, i want to say that i do not have a problem with anyone's methodology of naming cats. i do not care. i support every single name in existence (barring certain combinations of color and "-face," and anything in that vein), and i do not want to come across as telling you what you should do.
that includes you, anon! i do not think you should listen to me when i say i like these names. i think you should rename them whatever you want. (i strongly suggest reconsidering skyclan renames, tho. there's established reasons in canon for them to have those names, and i think it's a cool cultural thing worth exploring. i keep meaning to write a funny lil one-shot about it.)
but you know! if you want to rename them, go for it! i support you!
that said, here is what i think (and i am not an authority on this in any way, shape, or form) about names:
i've written extensively about naming traditions in the clans. if you want to read that, "names. leaders. meaning" and "names part two" are where i recommend you look. (note: first link is to my main, before i migrated warriors content here.)
i'm not going to go over any of that in detail, because well, i'd rather talk about something new?
anyway, i don't think there's a reason to rename the vast majority of cats. i have very, very, few rules. heck, in ashes, i even had squilf come out and say that there's not even a problem with cats sharing a prefix.
the two cats i have renamed are yellowstorm and runningcloud, both for very specific reasons: -fang is a suffix that only makes sense if you're a warrior, and yellowfang names runningpaw runningnose, but in this au, sagewhisker names him, and she doesn't seem like the type to give that kind of name.
in yellowfang's secret, which i do generally treat as canon, yellowfang explains runningnose's name. i don't have a problem with her giving that name to him in the slightest. i just don't think sagewhisker would, and that overrode my general conservative approach to cat names.
but i do think, to an extent, cats are named for the world around them. i explored this in "without warning," where cats can be named after all sorts of strange things (elevator is my favourite), because well, they don't know what strange names are and are not.
so, for example, if there was a kit named, say, chaffinchkit, i would probably rename them, because i've set my warriors in the pnw, and there are no chaffinches in america.
i would just name the kit finchkit, because really, a chaffinch just a specific type of finch anyway.
i also refuse to name a kit maggotkit. there are probably other canonical prefixes in this nature that i refuse, but maggot is the big one that comes to mind.
but i don't care that ferns are green and cats aren't green. maybe it's a name passed down through the generations, one they don't even remember the origin of, but now, it is a thunderclan name.
or maybe, it is given to a riverclan cat simply because their mother thinks ferns are nice and soft.
none of that matters to me, because i personally find limiting name to appearance is incredibly boring, and gives up a really nice chance to worldbuild.
in "fair is the night," ivypool and tigerheart have a brief conversation exploring this.
"ThunderClan is different," he says. "You don't use names in the same way. You don't know the Ivy before you. But ShadowClan isn't like that. Dawnpelt knows Dawncloud and Flametail knows Flamefur, but...I have Tigerstar." "That seems ineffective," Ivypool says. "You can get more mileage out of your names. Here, Ivy is for grey kits, right? But wiry ones. We need strong roots. And Dove is for grey kits, or white ones, but its for the ones who are born soft."
they go on, but i would never pass up an opportunity to explore that type of thing. (and yes i see the typo)
similarly, i like the renaming system. i am like, this close to saying i love it.
the only reason i don't make brightheart lostface in everything i write is because it'd be too much of a headache to remind people, and i also don't want to needlessly invite arguments about it.
she keeps her name in "saccharine tithes of love and glory" because it's the kind of au where i can throw small things like that, without worrying, because it fits, tonally.
i wish it didn't set a fic in a very specific tone, but it does, and so, i usually use brightheart.
(also, it's clear that she prefers brightheart in the books, and i respect that. i don't think, in my culture, that makes sense for her, but i've talked about my works as being on a spectrum between canon and me, and most stuff is far enough away from me that i call her brightheart.)
anyway.
part of it is, renaming cats is imposing my rules over canon. i feel that saying "flipclaw should be named something else" asserts that my world is correct, and canon is wrong.
like, tallstar as a name does not make sense in my windclan. a kit can't be tall, and i've established that windclan names are very literal. but i've let it go, because i chose to make that a rule, and now i live with it.
i hope i didn't come off as prescriptivist, here, because i honestly believe if you want to rename cats, you should. i'd even be happy to discuss alternatives.
for clawface, might i suggest scorchface? (the suffix is malleable, frankly, but i don't feel like thinking much about it.) scorch deliberately has negative connotations in shadowclan, so you keep the same effect as clawface. especially since it just kind of sounds ominous.
but as for what i will do, it is not rename cats. i like their names (especially skyclan's), in all their idiosyncratic glory.
