”So, I heard everyone’s talking about how this dance called prom is coming up... Do you know any information about this?”
The purple haired male had asked a yellow haired male with a tail that was sitting beside him.
Shinsou Hitoshi wasn’t really a person who likes to go out to parties and all, but this time he heard that almost everyone was going to this event called prom, and he heard that it was quite an important event for all of UA, especially for the upper class men’s.
The purple haired male couldn’t help but to be curious about this event...
He had saw people around the school asking each other to this "Prom" while he was in the halls.
After all it’s just a dance right? Hitoshi had wondered why on earth they would be so excited for an event like this.
It was evening and certainly, nothing inside the school was silent, all the boys and girls were in fibrillation for the future prom, the green-haired boy was the only one who definitely didn't understand with whom to go to the dance, Todoroki, or the girl with dark copper hair?
Eh, poor boy.
"Kami, should I ask Bakugou to come with me? I mean, have you seen him? He's an angel and-"
"Stop, I don't wanna hear for the hundreds of times how the blondie he's amazing at everything, even under the sheets, and yes, Kiri, you should invite him, he's gonna be the happiest person out there."
Kaminari and Kirishima were talking about, of course, the crush of that redhead with pointy teeth.
Somehow, both of the two seemed to be a married couple, indeed Katsuki was harsh, but with him, a soft spot was out.
Denki adjusted his golden locks in a super messy ponytail since his hair grew up a little, letting some locks falling down on his forehead.
There was someone inside his mind, someone with purple hair that captured his attention and it was there like a magnetic presence.
The thing that stopped him to ask the boy out was maybe that he wasn't enough for him?
Scratch the bad thoughts, both of the two friends were now drinking some water and talking about that damned prom, but his mind was somewhere else, not with Kirishima, not even with Jirou, not at all…
"So, what do you suggest me to wear? I've got a black suit but maybe the red one is better?" The redhead and Denki were still chatting about everything and nothing.
Kaminari took a full glass of water, walking on and answering thoughtfully, "You should definitely opt for the red one, definitely." out of the corner of his eye he saw all the girls fidgeting, talking to each other about what would be better to do during the dance, and what not, and especially with whom to go.
To look his friend in the face, Denki decided to walk practically backward, gesturing and holding the glass in his hand, talking to his friend about the party but, he hit something that definitely didn't seem to move.
Kirishima with a rapid movement of his hand, grabbed the boy, trying to not making him fall in front of everyone, but the cup of water wasn't there anymore, well, the container yes, at least.
The indigo haired male was continuing to have a conversation with the male beside him, who was apparently Ojiro. Shinsou had seemed uninterested in all of this while the tail boy was giving information about what prom is. He then saw incoming water, briefly spilling onto him. He didn’t know who had spilled the water, because the halls were slightly crowded.
 {Ah just gre-}
He thought to himself as his thoughts had cut off when he heard a familiar voice that sounded like Kaminari. He then shifted his eyes towards the male as the other, as if he had guessed in the first place that it was him who did it.
Every single drop of the water felt exactly where the lavender boy was, and the eyes of the electric boy widened a little in response, "Oh my God, I'm sorry, I didn't say you and- damn it, here, take this!"
So, he quickly took a handkerchief, handing it to the boy with the magnetic eyes.
{Damn it, he was so beautiful, how can a boy be so goddamn stunning and flawless at the same time?}
“It’s alright..” Hitoshi had sighed briefly, accepting the apparently personalized handkerchief that Kaminari held out to him. He couldn’t help but to chuckle on the inside at the design as if it matched the electric boy himself.
“Just be glad it’s water, if it was something else...” He then paused handed the handkerchief back to Denki, leaning towards the other briefly, speaking in a low tone. “You really wouldn’t have gotten away with it.” He smirked slightly and pulled back a bit.
That boy was flirting or? Scratch that, absolutely not, it couldn't happen, also because Shinsou was as edgy as the ash blondie not so far away from the two
But a cheesy smile appeared anyway on his expression, "Maybe that's not that bad as it seems to be."
Kirishima rolled his eyes, pushing a little his friend, murmuring a "And what the hell was that?"
Then, he turned his attention towards the two, "So, you two are coming to the prom, right? You should, absolutely, it's gonna be so fun!" his friend near him, the one with gold hair, sighed in silence hearing his tone of voice, and then adding, with a mocking but friendly tone of voice, "Sure, but shut up for a moment and go get your boyfriend.
Of course, the redhead couldn't wait to ask his crush out, but that maybe wasn't the same for everyone out there, but that was also another thing.
Anyway, Kaminari rubbed the back of his neck gently, finding a gold lock, "We should go to the training session, you two want to come?" Asking with a curious expression, before looking at the two young boys near them.
'Damn it, why the hell Shinsou was so freaking hot.'
“I guess I could.” Shinsou had responded to Denki a bit bluntly as he had leaned back against a wall as he turned towards Ojiro who was about to speak, but then got interrupted-
”Ojiro-San!” A voice that sounded like the invisible girl who was running over to the shy tail man. She grabbed his arm, seeming like she wanted to show him something.
“Todoroki and Midoriya wanted to know that if we’re both free later tonight, because apparently they’re wanting to make plans with us and the others for prom!” The Female has spoken enthusiastically.
“Oh r-really?” Ojiro had responded, a bit surprised at first, but then nodded. “I suppose I am free!” He chuckled slightly.
“Denki! Shinsou! Kirishima! You should come too! They said that we might have a game night as well, wouldn’t that sound fun to you guys??” Hagakure had said to the others.
Kirishima tilted his head and the same did his best friend, looking towards each other and saying, "Fine, let's go! It sounds fun to do."
The golden haired one, that was still having the empty cup of water on his hand, replied with a bright smile, "Sure, plus, let's see if it could be this fun."
“That’s great! I’m so glad you guys accepted the invitation!” Hagakure has chimed.
Denki’s smile was more than dazzling, Kirishima beside him was seeing where the ash-blonde was and as soon as he saw it, he disappeared with a simple greeting, "See you later, I have things to do."
And he looked at his best friend and crossed his fingers, the same thing Kaminari did.
The boy watched his friend leave and honestly he hoped that the explosive boy would say yes, he deserved to be happy, or rather, they both deserved it.
But his attention was now towards the two boys and the girl next to him, but the smile certainly didn't want to leave his face.
Maybe that was why his mom loved to call him 'ray of sunshine', but anyway, he put both hands in the pockets of his jeans, inevitably laying his eyes on the boy with the indigo pupils, being barely captured by them, but not at all, no? "Do you know where Todoroki and Deku are then?"
Shinsou had observed the atmosphere as he kind of noticed that Kaminari was looking at him for a while now. His purple eyes had shifted towards the yellow haired dork as his orbs had slightly glistened.
{That dork... Smiling like an idiot, how cute..}
“Oh, I‘m not really sure! But I heard they’re going to grab a bit later on, so they’re probably at the lunch room! Ojiro-San, we should let them know the news! Come on! Let’s go!” Hagakure had pulled the yellow haired boy with her, heading towards the lunchroom. “I’ll see you two later!” She chirped towards Shinsou and Kaminari.
Kaminari listened quietly to what the girl was saying and when he saw that she was apparently running away with the other blondie, of course, he waved at the two.
And now, they were alone- what he could say to not sound completely dumb?
well, at least not like the usual?
The golden-haired one adjusted one last time his golden locks as well, sitting on a table that was not so far away from him and crossing both of his arms up to the covered up chest, "Will you come to the party? I mean, it could be kinda fun, and maybe even the alcohol would be there."
Of course the last part was barely murmured because of the professor that could watch over them like goddamn spies.
Adding a little later, while his fingers were tapping g the rhythm of the music that was on the hall, maybe that was Jirou's fault as well, "And, maybe even the music will be kinda good."
He knew that Shinsou wasn't exactly a talkative one, but there was something different inside him, or maybe Denki was just being a fool.
The purple haired male went to grab his coffee that was still a little warm from the table near him, sipping it slowly. Swallowing the soothing liquid down his throat.
“Parties aren’t really my thing, but I’ll think about it.” He straightforwardly said.
The only party he had been to was a birthday party back in middle school. He really hasn’t gone to anything else since then.
If he had chosen to go, he knew how things would go, since he knew very well of what the whole class personalities are. He just had hoped the people that he liked were only coming..
{At least the idiot would keep me company at the party}
Kaminari nodded at the quick reply by that boy with significant eye bags under his eyes.
Well, in fact right he wanted to ask something like:
'Hey Shinsou, are you sleeping okay? Or have you eat something at lunch?'
But not now, sure maybe later this could totally happen.
Scratch that, the golden-haired one, tried to wear upon his face an "angry look" just to convince him to come, or something similar, at least that was making sense inside the blondie's mind, "I swear that if you will not come, I- well, I.."
A little pause was between the last phrases, making the boy thinking about what he could actually do, tapping the forefinger of his index on his chin, but nothing came out, apart from a chuckle.
"Nah, I can't force you, but that could be fun, you have to think about it, please, please."
Two puppy eyes were on his face as well, ending up in one other giggle.
“You’ll what?”
The male had questioned as he placed his coffee back down onto the table and crossed his arms slowly. Tilting his head to the side a bit, waiting for the yellow, spiky haired male to finish his sentence. His lips were curled into a brief smirk, as his expression was cunning.
{Trying to convince me to go? Adorable..}
He shifted his head down and chuckled briefly when he heard Denki’s last sentence. He thought the other would come up with a better tactic of convincing him to go, but he thought to himself that he second guessed it. Seeing Kaminari’s puppy eyes made himself a bit vulnerable towards the shorter male.
{What a cute Idiot..}
A few seconds had passed by,
“Alright, fine, I guess I’ll go for a while...” Shinsou had finally said.
“But only because you told me to.”
A while? At least that was something and a huge thing for the blondie with honey pupils, that was now smiling with a satisfied little grin, "Well, and I'll be glad to be the one that you should totally come here."
Kaminari now was looking rapidly towards the others as well, and of course, they were all exercising and doing stuff.
The electric boy rubbed the back of his neck a little thinking about his previous question, "I'll, well, destroy something of yours?" He said with N indecision inside his expression huffing way later, "Bakugou is more skilled than me in this type of things." That was the truth, the other spikey was so good at playing tricks with the others.
Anyway, it was good to see that even the purple haired boy was having a soft side or something similar you know, after saying this, a little challenge rolled out from his lips, "But if you are that scared to go even where Deku and Todoroki are, I can completely understand." A cocky smirk erased the cute one in a few seconds.
The violet male had narrowed his eyes, his lips were still curled into that slight smirk of his as he responded to the jokingly "threat" the human Pokémon had made towards him.
“You wouldn’t dare to do that, because if you do, I’ll make sure you wouldn’t get away with it.”
{Heh, at least your trying, you cute idiot..}
“It’s not like I’m scared of those idiots. I mean, those two are fine, but I just don’t really want to deal with... The others.” He stated as he finished the last of his coffee, heading to one of the trash cans to throw away his cup.
Denki was glad to see that little and simple smile that was corned right on the face of the indigo haired boy.
He wasn't exactly a cheerful one or either one that left his emotions rolling away from his soul as best.
And after hearing his phrases, Kaminari sighed a little.
Why not playing with him, that could be fun right?
"Yeah yeah, whatever you say, tough guy." That was what he said, followed with a small chuckle.
He could understand the people can be a huge pain in the ass, but maybe, they could make Shinsou feel that he was part of the group and above all, someone with huge power and of course, he would be a pro-hero.
Seeing then the jacket of the other one, an idea bubbled on his mind.
"So, sleepy head, you don't mind if I take this, right?"
Before the lilac male had gotten to say anything, he saw that the boy had already gotten ahold of his jacket that was hanging on the seat that he was sitting at.
“Hey, I didn’t say-“ He paused in the middle of his sentence as he saw the yellow haired male running away with his uniform jacket. He then sighed and shook his head a bit.
With a rapid movement, Kaminari took the jacket of that indigo one, standing up and barely running away from where he was, coming back to the training field that for his luck was empty.
Damn it, the fabric of that jacket was spreading out loud the other's one perfume, an adorable, sweet, and rough one.
Shinsou followed the dorky male, seeing where he was going. Seeing the golden blonde in the training area, his back facing the sleepy male.
Shinsou had decided to creep up behind the other, surprising him.
He slowly had placed his fingertips onto Kaminari’s shoulders. He then whispered in a low, intimidating tone.
“I didn’t say you could have it, didn’t I?”
Kaminari didn't expect this, especially to find him right behind him, gasping quietly for that rapid movement.
Damn it.
That's why he turned his attention towards the purple-eyed male, and sure, Denki still having his jacket on the other hand, but to be completely honest, it was fun to play with him.
"Hey, easy there, tough guy."
Pushing the other one a little bit, just to get what he wanted.
The purple haired male’s expression was playfully menacing as he looked into Kaminari’s golden orbs when the other had pushed him aback a bit.
“Give me back my jacket, unless you want me to brainwash you to give it to me by force...” Shinsou had responded, as he saw that his best friend was already wearing his jacket. He sighed internally, but then waited for the male’s next action in playfulness.
Kaminari left out another chuckle, deciding to wear the jacket off him, and eh—
It was a little bit big on him, sliding onto both of the pocket of it his hands, another smirky was stuck on his rosed lips, "I think that it could suit me, no? It's cold and you need to be a gentle hero with the people in need of help."
“Yeah, I’d have to honestly admit, but that’s the only jacket that I have at the moment, so I would like it if you’d give it back. I should be asking where yours is, but I’m assuming you left yours at the dump just like the idiot you are?” Shinsou teasingly said.
He frowned slightly, pretending to act as the boy next to him, changing his tone a little, crossing his arms over his chest, and raising an eyebrow, just to add a little 'malice' to his pose, trying not to fail, lowering the tone of the voice a little and walking on his feet, of course, on the pointy of them, to be taller, "I'm Hitoshi Shinsou, and I'm emo, I don't like others and give me some coffee please."
His own lips were there to burst out in a laugh more than audible, that wasn't unfair, but for sure, that was a good way to pass the afternoon as well, especially with his perfume crashing on him...wait, what?
Seeing Denki imitating him, Shinsou had rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms.
“You forgot something else.” He stated as he had walked over to the male again, his face facing the blonde’s back, leaning into his ear slowly.
“I also have a taste for blondes, but I was afraid to admit it for a while now.”
Denki's eyebrows narrowed in response, tilting his head a little and keep on wearing on his body the jacket of the indigo one, "Wait, how you dare call me-"
And now his own heart was racing this fast that he could totally feel the bump of it, running wildly towards his ears as well.
Kaminari couldn't understand if Shinsou was doing this with a purpose, or if he was speaking the truth, but anyway, Kaminari couldn't hide the red that was spreading on his cheeks as well.
And hearing his voice so close to his ear, couldn't help so much.
Obviously, the jacket of the indigo one was bigger on Kaminari’s body, but it was comfy, extremely comfy.
Denki sat up on a free chair, probably someone had trained a little while ago, leaving the gym weights not too far away from the ground and where he was.
Sitting down, being careful not to ruin the jacket for any reason in the world, posing his dust orbs on the lavender one, studying the other boy, "You should thank me, I'm taking care of it, and the thing is that maybe, I'm weak too for people with edgy attitude and eye bags, but I'm not sure if you know anyone like that."
Hitoshi couldn’t help but to smile on the inside when the male had said he was weak for him. “Oh really?” He questioned the other once again.
“Then maybe if you give me my jacket back, I’ll tell you who I know is like that, and maybe I’ll convince them to go on a date with you.
Shinsou had placed one of his arms onto his hip, thinking of what to do to get the jacket back from the golden blonde male. He decided to give him another chance before using his quirk on the male, as if he thought that this was a bit fun for the both of them, and had wanted to play the game a bit longer.
“So what do I have to do in order to get it back from you? Or do I have to really make my word and force you to give it back?”
Shinsou had questioned Kaminari who looked like he was having the time of his life in this situation, which made the sleep deprived male a little annoyed, but at the same time he thought it was kind of adorable.
But seems like they are both in the game, so why not challenging Shinsō, no?
His right hand was now on the other one chest, pushing him a little bit far away, but not that much, the cheesy attitude was there, so as his words.
"Tell me, why you were afraid? And don't think that with this movement you're gonna have back your jacket, I know that you are tough and all, but have pity on me." Ending his last words with a wink directly where he was.
"Afraid?” Shinsou chuckled to himself. “Well... I was afraid, because I thought no blonde idiots would even be interested in a guy like me in the first place, you could say.”
Denki’s face went terribly red and that was unfair.
Kaminari raised up both of his eyebrows in a confused expression, was he talking about him or someone else? Because to be honest, he couldn't understand how a guy like him could like someone like the blondie here.
"Mhm! Maybe, you know him, or maybe not? Who's gonna tell me that you will do the right thing."
Passing some free time with him was a thing that he would like to do more often, and maybe, having this jacket around his body, could be similar to having his arms around him? And maybe, they got late even for the appointment with the broccoli boy and Todoroki.
Too cheesy, but whatever, that was the truth.
Shinsou liked playing with the blonde, along with seeing the male blushing made him want to say more things to him that would make him blush even more...
“I do know him. In fact, he’s actually the only person that I get along with most of the times.” He joked to himself, and to be honest, it was kind of true until the boy in front of him had came into his life...
Kaminari’s cheeks went terribly red.
Indeed, it was the boy him, and finally, he has understood this, but how can this even be possible?
Kaminari took off his own phone, sliding the home and then, looking at the purple haired one.
The camera was on, when the other male was distracted, he clicked the button of his own phone and taking a pic of him, adding some cute filters, like one of the rabbits with a little pink nose.
"Ohw! Look at you, you are not that tough here." The golden-haired boy shows him on his phone with a little chuckle.
It took a few seconds, but Shinsou had noticed that Kaminari had taken a photo of the both of them while he was unaware. He looked at the picture and saw that he had a cat filter on his face, along with the yellow haired dork.
”Hey, delete that.”
Shinsou had demanded as if he didn’t really like photos taken of him. He didn’t really feel that confident about how he looked, and didn’t really want anyone seeing his face all over social media.
Kaminari was there to trying to be tough and all, like Bakugou, no? Or someone similar but he ended up bursting on a little chuckle, that got the end when he heard the other one words.
"Easy, big guy, you are- I mean, beautiful? Come close, let's take a pic, eh? And if you don't like it, you can delete it, and you will have even your jacket back."
A moment of silence has swept though the area until Shinsou had finally spoken aloud. He couldn’t help but to chuckle on the inside of Denki calling him beautiful. The messy haired male finally had said while his expression was in a surrender state.
“...Alright... Fine, just one picture..”
Denki knew that maybe, he didn't even like to be photographed and all, but in his mind and in his eyes, the purple haired one was a walking piece of art, and moreover, maybe Shinsou wasn't passing a good time, maybe for his quirk, maybe for the classmates or whatever, but of course, Kaminari wanted to be his friend, more than anything.
His smile was still there, not anymore like a grin, more like a soft one, tending his hand towards the other hero.
Shinsou then walked over when he saw Kaminari’s hand held out.
“But let me juust...-“ With a twist, he decided to grab the blonde’s hand, pulling the male towards him quickly and suddenly pinning him to the ground, quickly grabbing his phone to delete the picture that was previously taken.
Kami was so close to even say one of his dumb things but he was stopped from a quick movement from that sleepy head, pinning his body on the ground, followed with a rumor similar to a 'tump'.
Yes, it was hot, but yes he couldn't just stay there without doing nothing right?
"No! Now I can hate you freely" acting like a drama queen that he was, placing one hand on his wavy and blonde hair, trying to not laugh, or anything.
”Well feel free to do so, it’s not like I would care.” Shinsou had teased as he opened the male’s phone.
Only a grin was on his expression, coming closer to his arm with the other free hand, "Sounds like someone is having fun pining the innocent people, right?"
“I’d have to admit that it’s quite fun when you want others to do something by force.” Shinsou spoke in a sly tone as he pressed on the photo that Denki just took.
Both of Denki’s hands were now under the back of his own head, like a pillow or similar, "It's comfy being down there, and give me back my phone, come on."
Then he had an idea- with his hand, Denki gives him a small electric shock, right on the arm of the other, not too much heavier and not too much gentle.
The purple haired male was about to press the delete button on the photo, but was interrupted by the electric shock of the yellow haired male.
 “Ah-”
Shinsou wasn’t prepared for that so with a jolt from himself, the phone had fell onto the other’s face on accident, then slid onto the ground. Even though Kaminari’s electricity was pretty low, he didn’t expect for him to do that, so it surprised him.
Kaminari was about to laugh for the scene that he was watching when the electronic thing arrived directly into his face, then dropped on the ground.
"Ouch, that was painful." With the right hand, Kami went to check everything: mouth? No scratch, eyebrows? No blood, so that's okay, but it wasn't the same for his nose, that was spreading out a little drop of scarlet blood.
His golden pupils watched the other boy in a total drama way, placing one hand onto his injured little nose, "How you dare ruin my pretty face? And didn't you tell me that you cared about me, like, some seconds ago?"
Shinsou noticed that the boy’s nose was bleeding a little as his eyes widened a bit. He didn’t even know that the phone would cause that much of an impact in the first place.
He sighed in his head, “Ah shoot... But it was your fault in the first place.” Shinsou had looked down at the yellow haired male with a disappointed face, but at the same time, it was a little playful.
Of course, the yellow haired male was joking, he didn't want him to feel guilty, his nose would be good in a few hours or so.
Taking back his phone and blocking it with the password on, tilting his head with a satisfied look, "Now you'll have to make it up to me, no phone, no jacket, sounds a good deal for me."
The indigo and wavy hair were floating around, and Kaminari couldn't help himself but raising up his hand just to caress one lock, and letting it laying down by his own side.
“Alright... fine, how about we go to the cat cafe tomorrow night in the afternoon?” He said quite causally like everything was normal as he got up and pulled Kaminari along with him.
“And also... There’s been one more thing I’ve been wanting to ask you..” He then paused in his sentence.
Kaminari tilted his head a little while he was already sat up, but it was totally a thing that he couldn't handle back the scarlet that was spreading on his cheeks, "Do you- I mean, Is it a date? Because I'd love that and maybe I should stop talking because I'm ruining everything, I know, but can we adopt cat or taking them?"
From his rosy lips escaped another chuckle, this time for the embarrassment.
Taking away from his shoulder the jacket of the other man, giving the fabric back to him, even if honestly, feeling his perfume everywhere was something that he was starting liking.
And Shinsou was for real asking him to go out.
That could be totally a dream.
But, something made him worried about the last sentence of the indigo haired one, crossing his arms up to his chest that was covered by the shirt, "Sure, tell me, I hope that you don't want to tell me that you killed someone or something similar because man, I can't your back."
With a total act pose, once again, the giggle rolled out, letting it ringing on the fresh air.
Why the hell he was so cute right now? Unfair.
Oh how much did Shinsou wanted to use his quirk on the other and make him do things he’d regret… But he decided to let the dark humor go for now.
Shinsou had taken a deep breath as he continued on with his sentence. He had been wanting to ask this question for a while now anyways...
“You know that prom thing that everyone is talking about? Well I was gonna as you if you’re going with anyone?” The purple haired male had asked suddenly.
He was curious if Kaminari already had a date; since someone like him was popular and all; he secretly had hoped the other would say that he didn’t have anybody to go with, since Shinsou wanted to ask you the blonde himself to go with him, because he thought it would be.. Fun... For once in a life time...
The blondie was piercing his attention towards the purple haired one, it wasn't difficult since he was in front of him as the first thing, and then, Shinsō was gorgeous as hell, but that's another chapter of the story.
"The prom? Yeah! Kirishima told me about this thing every single day from now and no, I've got nobody to go with, but- what about you?"
Denki was pretty curious about the other request, but at the end, he knew that probably Shinsō could absolutely get or have anyone, so it was barely sure that the indigo one was invited by the boy called Neito? Or maybe some other girls, maybe even Mina?
No no, it wasn't like he was jealous, not at all.
The back of the electric hero went crashing on the wall behind, feeling the cold air crashing onto his body and crossing both of the arms up to the chest, resting out in one other gentle smile.
Why he was feeling his stomach upside down from his words and why the hell Shinsō was asking him things like that?
Shinsou was honestly surprised about the fact that the honey haired male had no one to go with to the dance. Not to be selfish or anything, he admitted that he was quite happy about it, since he was going to ask the other to go with him in the first place.
Out of all the people, he wanted to ask Kaminari, because he had thought something different towards the dorky male... There was something about him that sparked the purple haired male.
“Not exactly.” He stated, scratching the back of his head as he looked around the room for a second. He then shifted his eyes towards Denki, seeing the male being kinda cute in his position.
“I was wondering if you would like to go to this prom with me, if you don’t mind it that is...” He finally then asked.
“Oh man, well then I have just- Wait what?” Kaminari had asked the other just to make sure he wasn’t hearing things. “Did you ask me t-to?”
“I-I mean! Of course! Uh- I- Um-“ By this time, the blonde haired male was completely flustered and didn’t know what to say next since he totally expect that response from Shinsou.
“So.. Is that a yes?” Shinsou had asked, because it seemed that the other wanted to go with him from what he observed, but at the same time he wasn’t so sure…
“A-ah w-well-!” Kaminari had started to walk around unconsciously, but ended up tripping over something that caused him to suddenly fumble forwards and onto the purple haired male and had made quite an impact.
Not expecting that fall from Kaminari, Shinsou had fallen aback, holding Denki in his arms by now.
Kaminari had shut his eyes from the impact, just to open them to beautiful purple orbs staring back at him.
{Kami exe. has stopped working}
“Ah! I’m so s-sorry! I didn’t mean to-!” Kaminari panicked even more as he still was blushing deeply and his heart was racing so quickly.
“It’s, alright. You’re fine.” Shinsou had responded.
The both of them were so close...
“Gah!” Kaminari had tried to get off of Shinsou quickly, but before he could Shinsou had grabbed his arm and pulled him back down, making his heart race even more.
“Just where do you think you’re going?” Shinsou smirked slyly as he wanted to play with the other as if he knew that Kaminari liked how this was going.
“H-hey now, it was on accident! E-easy there now.” Kaminari stuttered.
“An accident? How can I forgive you for that?”  Shinsou had spoke in a sly tone.
“Uhm, w-well- I’ll go with you to prom and will you forgive me then? Aha?”
“Hmm, I don’t think that would be enough for me to completely forgive you.”
“T-then what is it you want then? You geezer.” Kaminari let out a small chuckle as if he couldn’t help but to make the joke.
Shinsou frowned, “I ain’t no geezer.”
“Yes you are, you act like it most of the times.” Kaminari had teased even more.
“No I’m not.”
“Yes you are”
“Am not.”
“Uh huh, you are.”
Shinsou had sighed briefly in defeat as he pulled suddenly Kaminari closer to him, making the other’s golden orbs widen a bit and his cheeks heat up again.
“Well if I agree, will you shut up and kiss me, idiot?”
“Wait w-what?”
Shinsou had leaned into Kaminari, as their lips had connected gently.
“!!” By now, Kaminari was in shock because he didn’t really expect Shinsou to make the first move, but eventually relaxed and kissed Shinsou back.

@shinsoubowl Week Day 3 (Prompt: coffee shop)
A/N: I’m so excited for this prompt uwu
Pairing: Shinsou Hitoshi x reader
Description: Shinsou was by no means a coffe drinker. But if it meant that he could see the cute barrista who worked at the coffe shop by the corner, he would gladly pour that disgusting cup of liquid down his throat every day.

The small bell hanging on the door frame chimed as Shinsou pushed the glass door open, the strong aroma of coffee immediately filled his sense as he walked in.
He first came to this small coffee shop by the corner of the agency he was working at a few months ago when he was asked to get a cup of coffee for his boss on his way to work. It was a cozy shop, the light shining in through the tall windows and plants sitting by every corner. There was only one barista by the counter when he walked in and the barista immediately greeted him with a bright smile as he walked up.
“Good morning! What can I get for you?”
“Er...” Shinsou looked at the message his boss sent him and winced at how specific the order was, “Can I have a tall caramel latte with double shots of espresso, one extra pump of hazelnut syrup, skim milk and a thin layer of foam for takeout please?”
He felt bad for all the extra requirements and was fully expecting the barista to gave him a look but instead of that, they laughed and the sound made his heart skip a beat. “Would you happen to be working in that pro-hero agency down the block?”
He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, “Yeah, I suppose very few customers would give such a long order except from our boss so it must be quite obvious.”
“Oh, trust me, his regular orders are far from being the most complicated ones we’ve gotten.” the barista said with a smile, “Anything for you?”
“Well...”
“We have a new blend of roast that just came in yesterday, would you like to try that?”
Shinsou had no intention to get anything for himself originally but something about that barista’s lovely smile clouded his judgment and before he knew it, he was walking out of the shop with two cups in head. Since that day, he had quickly become a regular at the coffee shop, stopping by each morning before work.
For the record, Shinsou hated the taste of coffee.
Perhaps it was the unhealthy habit of drinking black coffee as an energy drink back when he was studying in UA, but Shinsou could not help but scrunched in disgust at the bitter hue of that dark liquid. He tried adding heaps of sugar and milk to it but it did not make the drink any more appealing to him. How some people genuinely like the taste of it, he could never understand.
But something about that coffee shop made him want to go back day after day and it did not take him long to see just why that was the case.
“Morning!” you perked up from the counter as you caught the vivid shade of purple at the door from the corner of your eye.
Shinsou smiled. You were always so energetic each morning and seeing you made it just a bit easier for him to get through another day of hectic work. “Morning.”
“Should I get you your usual or do you want to try something new?”
“The usual would be fine,” he yawned before continuing, “I would be down if there’s something you recommend though.”
You quirked a brow upwards at the hero’s tired expression, “You look exhausted, even more so than usual. How much sleep did you get last night?”
“None.”
You gasped and sent him an exaggerated glare, he grinned apologetically in response. You picked up on Shinsou’s sleep deprivation very quickly since he started showing up, seeing as how he had drifted off to sleep several times while waiting for his order. “What have I said about-”
“Getting more rest. I know, I know.” he sighed, “I really tried, I swear. But villains don’t wait till you got 8 hours of sleep per day to start crimes.”
“I swear, you’re gonna get a sudden cardiac death one day at this rate.” you rolled your eyes as he laughed.
“Aw, you’re worried about me. That’s cute.”
“Don’t laugh, I’m being serious.” you glared at him before resorting to a soft sigh, “Can I get you a double shot to wake you up?”
Just the faint memory of the bitterness was enough to send him war flashbacks to when he used to stay up all night for catching up to school work after training. In all honesty, he would really much rather stick to the more tolerable taste of latte that he normally get but you were suggesting that to help him, how was he supposed to say no to that concerned look in your eyes?
“Of course.”
Shinsou cursed himself for not having a back bone as he squeezed his eyes tight the moment he tasted the strong coffee on his tongue.
“Are you planning to make a move on that cute guy who looked like he haven’t slept in ten years at all? Because I swear he is only here for you and I can tell that you are always being extra nice to him. It infuriates me that none of you are doing anything about it.”
You looked at your colleague as you tied the knot of the apron on your back. “What? I treat every customer the same!”
She clicked her tongue as she slammed her locker shut, “I don’t hear you gushing about other customers.”
You blushed and tried to brush her off, “I do not gush about him.”
“Oh, so not only were you gushing, you were also doing it without any awareness.”
“Just stop it,” you pretended to fix your hair in front of the mirror instead of looking at your friend as she snickered, “the coffee is not gonna brew itself if we stay here at the back.”
“Keep denying it, it’s not gonna change the truth.” she smirked as she yelled after you escaped to the store front.
You were still thinking about what she said to you when you were setting up the register. Were you being extra nice to Shinsou? Well, he was one of the nicer customers around. Literally every person who worked at the shop had their own favourite customer so it wasn’t that abnormal for you to act just a little bit differently in front of him. Right? Right?
“Daydreaming at work? That’s unlike you.”
You let out a soft yelp as the sudden voice startled you. You looked up with wide eyes as Shinsou stared at you with a crooked grin. He was one of the nicer customers you had here, and it didn’t hurt that he was also one of the more good-looking ones either. You felt warmth spreading from the tip of your ears to your cheeks at the realization that he was standing there while you thought of him. “You’re here earlier than usual.”
Despite not knowing the true cause, he did picked up on the faint blush on your face. Assuming that you were embarrassed from being startled, he couldn’t help but widening his grin at how adorable you looked.
“Got some work I have to finish before the day starts so I need to get back to the agency earlier.” he sighed as he felt the rumbling in his stomach, “I regret skipping breakfast for it though.”
“Oh,” you frowned at his lack of care for his body, “your usual?”
“Yeah, thanks.”
Sitting on a bar stool as he waited for his order, Shinsou was scrolling through his phone when he saw you put a brown paper bag in front of him.
“What is this?” he asked and picked it up. The bag was hot under his touch and he could smell a faint sweetness as he held it.
“A muffin.”
He tilted his head in confusion, “I did not order that?”
“It’s on me,” you smiled as you watched him peeking into the bag curiously, “no way in hell am I going to let you go to work with an empty stomach.”
Part of him wanted to tell you that he could not take it but the way you cared about his well-being filled him with joy and the pastry smelled so good. “You’re a god-sent.” he said as he hummed in content after biting into the warm muffin.
“Anything for my favourite customer.”
He wasn’t sure if the sweetness of the cake could compare to your words, the idea that he was at least somewhat special to you sent his heart pounding furiously in his chest.
You waved at him before he left and watched as Shinsou’s frame disappeared from your sight. You pressed your cold hand to your face and shivered as your heated face came in contact with the icy fingers. Your friend who was talking to you in the back room earlier leaned against the counter, “You looked flushed, what happened?”
“That man had no business looking that good in the early morning-” you paused as you realized what you just said and your friend gave you a cheeky grin, “oh my god, I do gush about him.”
She snorted as your eyes widened, “I told you so.”
“Let me repeat myself,” Shinsou stared at the blonde who was having the widest grin on his face, “why are you here?”
“Since our agencies are working on the same case together, I think it’d be nice if we catch up!” Kaminari said through his toothy smile. Shinsou was aware that he would be working with his UA school mate for the coming days since he got a heads up from his boss but he was not expecting to find Chargebolt waiting outside his apartment as he made way to work this morning.
“And waiting outside someone’s house is definitely a normal way to do that.” Shinsou said dryly but his friend didn’t seem to pick up on the sarcasm as he continued babbling on about the time they spent in UA as they walked.
“Hey!” you were wiping the counter when Shinsou walked in with someone by his side, “You brought a friend!”
“He’s not my-”
“Kaminari Denki, or Chargebolt as you will. It’s a pleasure.” you reached out and shook his extended hand as Shinsou clenched his jaw. “Is this the one you were-”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Shinsou quickly cut him off before he kept running that large mouth of his, “I’ll have the usual.”
You smiled as you marked down his order and handed him the change, “One tall latte, coming right up.”
“What?” Kaminari looked at his friend and furrowed his eyebrows, “But you-”
“Don’t say it.”
“-hate coffee.”
Shinsou wanted nothing more than to slap the blonde for saying what he had been trying to hide in front of you for so long. He was filled with dread and embarassment as your eye widened in shock, “What?”
“It’s nothing-”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” you nearly screamed at how bad you felt for basically assuming that he would want coffee, “I just thought you like coffee since it’s what you get the first time you were here and you actually hated it?”
“It’s fine! I’m the one who asked for-”
“No you did not! I thought you could not make your mind up so I took you not refusing my recommendation as a ‘yes’-”
“I could have said something-”
“We also have tea, you know? I could have gotten you tea!”
“It’s fine! Really, I’m here to see you anyways-” Shinsou stopped mid scream as he realized what he just said. You flailing hands froze mid-air as his words settled in your mind.
“Oh.” your voice softened as you finally got what he was implying, “Oh.”
“Yeah, so it’s ok. Really.” Shinsou said as heat spread all across his face and he sent a sharp glare towards Kaminari who just avoided his accusing gaze.
“Well, I still feel bad. Can I make it up to you?” you shyly looked away as he looked at your face that was as flushed as his own, “I know this really nice cat cafe, we can go there? You do like cats, right?”
“Love them, actually.” Shinsou smiled and it made your heart flutter, “That sounds great. Pick you up when you get off?”
“Sure. Tonight at 6?”
“Tonight at 6.”
Kaminari’s eyes flicked between the two of you as you just stood there and sheepishly glance at each other occasionally in silence. “So... Technically, I did a good thing right?”
“Shut up.”
“Ok. Sorry.”

ShinsouBowl week for @shinsoubowl ! 💜
Hope you all enjoy! Shindeku needs all the love >w< 💜
Shinsou Hitoshi was heading back towards the dorms of UA while he had a black umbrella over himself when it started to rain. Wearing a hoodie and some jeans since he finished class earlier today and had changed. A day or so, someone had told him that new dorms have been built, which allowed all the students of UA to finally live in a dorm. Shinsou had decided to tour around campus, because he really never gotten a chance to ever since today. The rain began to pour harder while he was taking his nice tour, he then saw a familiar green haired boy, sitting on a bench while he looked like that he was pretty much drenched in rain water by now. He questioned to himself of why the other was sitting alone today, since he usually saw the male with at least one person. He took a clearer glance at the boy and realized that he looked... Kinda down at the moment? He decided whether or not he should go over to Izuku and ask what was up, after all it wasn’t any of his business... But at the same time it was bothering him. He decided to watch from a distance for now to see what the other would do next.
{looks like there’s something up with him... What could it be though..?}
Izuku Midoriya sat on a bench outside the training grounds. His expression poker-faced. School was a bore, everything he liked was a bore. It was probably past curfew at this point but thats not what he was thinking of. He stared into the distance, not wanting to go back either. It felt as if everything had sunk in even though it was days past the incident. Taking a deep breath, he suddenly snapped out of it and realized it was pouring rain around him. His whole body was beginning to dampen now, but he had an inkling the source of the warm and salty stream om his cheek was from something else.
The melancholy male sitting in the distance had suddenly stood up, wanting to scream. Before he could, he stopped himself. Thoughts of self consciousness and worry flooded him- he didn't want to annoy the others on campus. But again he just wanted to cry out in pain- for once just let it out. He felt it was a selfish thought, so he pushed it to the back of his mind. Even when he was with _____, he didn't want to show him his bad side and burden him. Picking himself up, he brushed himself off. Moping wasnt going to do any good. He gathered his things and trudged to the entrance, when he saw a purple headed boy turn away from him. What was he doing here?
Shinsou was about to walk away when he saw Izuku heading back, but before then, he saw the other catching a brief glance at him.
{Shoot, he saw me staring at him didn’t he?}
The male had thought to himself as he had hoped that Midoriya wouldn’t be suspicious of him and headed back towards the dorms, closing his umbrella once he got into the building. It had been a long day, so he decided to head back to his room to finish up some homework that the teacher had assigned him earlier this morning. The thought of if the freckled male was okay had still lingered in his mind though... He honestly haven’t really had a real conversation with that boy ever since the sports festival. Which was about months ago.
Deku felt self pity welling up inside him and worry at the boy who had been watching him. What if even Shinsou thought he was weird now? He sighed walking back up to his dorm, when his eyes locked with the very person he wasn't expecting, his jacket and hair slightly damp. Just when Shinsou was less than halfway down the halls when he had locked eyes with the green haired male. Deku walked past, alone in his own thoughts. But out of the corner of his eyes he saw a flash of purple. Locking eyes with the other, Shinsou’s lilac eyes looked dull and unmotivated, but at the same time, he was secretly concerned for the boy. Shinsou had paused a bit before saying a word to the boy, getting lost in the other’s eyes a bit.
“Mi-“ Before he got to say anything, he then got cut off by Izuku’s shriek of surprise.
"Sh-shinsou?!" He jumped slightly, eyes widening a bit while blushing and scratching the back of his head. "Aa-h-h-hello do you do?" He internally kicked himself for stuttering his words, making his reply super awkward in his eyes— a scarlet blush filled his cheeks. Had shinsou been watching him mope this whole time?
The purple haired male couldn’t help but to chuckle a bit on the inside after seeing Midoriya jumping slightly from his surprise reveal. At first he wanted to confront what was going on with the other, but then he decided to act like he didn’t know what just happened earlier. Instead he acted like he had acted that he just saw the green haired male walk into the dorms. “I thought you be back in your dorm room by now.” He stated like it was easy to talk to the young boy. “Did you have to do training overtime again?” He causally asked the question like it was nothing while he was folding his umbrella.
"N-no," why was he stuttering? He internally slapped himself. "Well not really, I was just... enjoying the rain! Yeah!” He tried to sound convincing but it totally backfired. He just felt so conflicted and hurt.
“You sure gave yourself a soak in the bath, if you know what I mean.” Shinsou responded jokingly, trying to lighten up the mood and acting like he hadn’t seen all the commotion earlier.
“Uh yeah, I sure did!” Izuku tried to let out a laugh. Then randomly, it was like Shinsou's words were all it took for the dam to break free, pushing Izuku over the edge. He broke down in uncontrollable bursts of tears, pulling his knees into his face so no one could see how embarrassing he was- this was probably why _____ left him after all...
“H-hey...” When he saw Midoriya suddenly burst into tears, he didn’t know what to do at first and started to panic on the inside. He never had experienced this kind of situation before... But then he had a thought — he then bent down to the boy’s level, seeing the other sobbing into his soaked uniform made him pity the other. He then placed a hand onto the male’s shoulder gently.
Izuku has sobbed profusely by now. “Why.. Why does it have to happen like this? It’s... Just not fair...!” He almost screamed out loud, sobbing in his already wet uniform pants. He tried his best to control his voice as if he didn’t want to concern the others that were in the dorms on the other floors.
“Do you... Maybe want to talk about this at your dorm?” Shinsou had asked him as if he thought it was appropriate to talk about what the other is going though   couldn’t bare to see the boy like this — he never seen the green haired figure so broken like this... Izuku was always so cheerful whenever the other was around him.
Izuku then nodded his head, hiccuping on accident, allowing Shinsou to lead the way as Shinsou still had his hand on Izuku’s shoulder. The purple haired boy never really talked much, but actions were worth more than words and he could feel his gentleness coming through in his body language. He didn't really want to talk about it but anywhere was better than the hallway.
                                                      *~*~*
Once they had entered Izuku’s dorm, Shinsou had let the teary-eyed male in first, closing the door behind him afterwards. He observed the room, of course it was filled with figures of his favorite hero, also known as the one and only All Might. The other’s room was filled with posters of him as well to the fact that you almost couldn’t even see the walls. Some clothes were on the ground and Izuku’s backpack that he took with him to school every day was sitting on the floor by his desk, with a couple of books spilling out from his opened bag.
“Sorry if my dorm is a bit of a mess...” Izuku tried to speak confidently, as he was kind of embarrassed by letting Shinsou see how much he appreciated his favorite hero- it’s not like the others had already seen how much he admired the influential figure and that the sleep deprived male hasn’t already know about his passion about the hero- but in the end he still had that embarrassing feeling but tried to laugh it off. Trying to get himself together by putting on a positive tone of voice after what had happened in the hallway Izuku then added, “I um, didn’t expect guess to come, but here we are..!” He tried to let out a brief chuckle. “You can have a seat if you’d like! He then proceeded to sit on the side of his bed, making room for Shinsou to sit next to him. Izuku put his head down briefly and sniffled a bit, wiping his tears away that were outlining his eyes onto his soaked uniform.
Shinsou had placed his umbrella on a hook that was near the doorway to let it dry, then proceeded towards Midoriya who was kind of soaking part of the bed with his wet clothing.
“Shouldn’t you change into something dry first? You wouldn’t want to get sick do you?”
“Oh, um yeah!” Izuku responded as he looked at how wet his uniform was when Shinsou had mentioned it. “I-I’ll be right back..!” He then gave a forced smile and went to grab a pair of sweatpants and his causal shirt. While Shinsou was waiting for Izuku to change, he saw a small picture frame on the side of the other’s study desk. It was a picture of the smiley male and _____. Even though it was days since the breakup, he still managed to keep the photo of them two together.
A few minutes later, Izuku changed into his pair of clothes and sat on his bedside, gesturing Shinsou to come over as well and sit beside him. “
“So, I’ve heard from a few friends that you’ve been going though some things?” He lied a bit.
Izuku then hung his head down slightly as his expression saddened again. “It’s- it’s about ____... They told me that we should end it all... After all these years... And I don’t know what I did.. I-I know how we had a couple of fights that weren’t even a big deal, but I admitted it that it was my fault in the first place- I admitted it and (s)he seemed like everything was okay with us for a while... But then...” Izuku rambles on and on and couldn’t really stop as usual. He sighed in the middle of his thoughts as tears stated to outline his eyes again as he continued to ramble.
“Midoriya?”
“Thinking about it- in the end it was all my fault, I shouldn’t have-“ Izuku’s eyes suddenly shifted towards Shinsou, feeling his mind slowly going blank all of a sudden.
“Calm down.” Shinsou has said in a calm tone, activating his quirk to make Izuku relax a bit. This wasn’t the first time that he had heard Izuku ramble so fast about things, but this time he needed the other to take things slowly.
By the time Izuku had calmed down, Hitoshi had deactivated his quirk as tears were still falling down from Izuku’s eyes; the other not knowing what just happened for a brief second, but then realized that Shinsou had used his quirk on him to give him a breather.
“You were rambling again.. Take it easy, alright?” Shinsou had smiled slightly, wanting to listen to the boy for once, because maybe there was something that he could help with. It honestly hurt him a bit to see the other in this state...
“Ah, I-I’m sorry...” Izuku had bent his head down and sobbed quietly into his hands. “It’s just that... it all happened so quickly...” Izuku sniffled. “And... I just don’t know what to do...” He then placed his feet onto his comforter, bent his knees and started sobbing even more.
Hitoshi felt pity for Izuku. He was pretty sure he felt the same kind of similar feeling in his past. At first, he really know what to say besides and “I’m sorry”, but then a thought had came to him.
“Look... I don’t mean to be harsh or anything, but if I were you I would just probably move on from all of this since you can’t really do anything about it. It was their choice after all.” Hitoshi had straightforwardly said to the curly haired male.
“But I-I just can’t get it though my head.. I just... loved them so much...” Izuku sobbed as Hitoshi had decided to wrapped his arms around the other all of a sudden. He for some reason felt that there was a part of Izuku that reminded him of himself... Shinsou was not the one to show much affection towards others, but only for this time he felt like he had to do something, so all he could think of was this.
Izuku just hugged the other male tighter, burring his head into Shinsou’s shoulder as his tears had accidentally soaked into the male’s shirt a bit.
The indigo haired male had tensed up a bit as if the male wasn’t used to the giving back of affection— or the giving of affection in general, but then he eventually relaxed a few seconds later.
{My heart is beating faster than normal— is it because of how close we are right now..?}
A moment of silence has swept over the two, Izuku took a slight deep breath, inhaling the other’s sent that was an aroma of cinnamon and a bit of vanilla.
“...”
“Shinsou...”
“Hm?”
“You... Smell good...” Izuku had spoken in a soft tone as he rested his chin onto Shinsou’s shoulder. A light pink blush had colored his face after realizing what he just said to the lilac haired male. “I-I mean, is that cinnamon and vanilla I s-smell...?”
Shinsou couldn’t help but to smile slightly and had continued stroking Izuku’s curls, pulling the other closer to his chest. He felt a warm sensation going through his body. It’s like the feeling of happiness had swept through him for a moment... He honestly never had received a compliment like that from anyone other than Izuku. He was surprised from all of this happening, but at the same time he knew that Izuku was the only one to fully trust him out of all the students. Ever since their first interaction Izuku didn’t seem scared to talk to him, which made him feel a bit of a relief on the inside for once...
“I may have used a special softener while I was doing my laundry..” The sleepy male responded, trying not to sound embarrassed about the whole thing as if he thought it wasn’t a masculine thing to do; but it’s not like he cared about what people thought about him anyways.
{I really hope he can’t hear how fast my heart is beating right now, because that would be embarrassing-}
“Shinsou...”
“What is it?”
“What if I end up being alone? With no one by my side... It’s honestly scary thinking about it...” Izuku spoke in a soft tone. It was his first breakup and he didn’t know if he could find another person like ____.
{This cute idiot.}
Hitoshi had chuckled to himself as he rolled his eyes and rested his chin onto the Izuku’s head gently. Pausing a moment as he kept playing with the curls on Izuku’s hair.
{His hair is so soft...}
“You’re an idiot for thinking about those things. I promise you’ll never be alone...” Shinsou responded as he placed his lips onto Izuku’s forehead, closing his eyes for a moment.
Izuku blushed a dark pink and nuzzled his head into Shinsou’s chest a bit more. “You promise...?”
“I promise.”

Tough Competition

@shinsoubowl Week 2019 Day 2 (Prompt: Competition+”Is that really the best you got?”)
A/N: I had such a bad writer's block while writing this one. Thank god I managed to get it done.
Pairing: Shinsou HItoshi x reader
Description: Nothing like a bit of friendy rivalry to get the tension going and affection to blossom.

If anything, you had enough self-awareness to admit that you were a ridiculously prideful person. So to see that damn smirk on your opponent’s face when your back hit the mat immediately sent a pang of bitterness straight to the back of your throat.
“Is that really the best you got?”
What a prick.
You groaned at the numbness on your back from the pain, “You have to rub it in, huh?”
Shinsou’s extended hand was left hanging as you got up and walked straight pass him, a hand on your back to ease the discomfort.
Now, before people started to assume things, you did not hate Shinsou. Not really, but you were a really bitter loser and you had never won in a spar against that kid. Never, not once since you started training with him under Aizawa’s instruction.
Perhaps it was the universe’s cue to keep your ego in check when you didn’t make it into Hero Studies in the first place.
To say that you were crushed would be an understatement. It was a reality check that you were, indeed, not as good as you thought you were. But you didn’t just give up, admitting that you failed in achieving your dream would be an even bigger blow to your pride. So you settled for what you could get in the time being and worked twice as hard as you used to, preparing for the day you could finally prove your worth.
You nearly cried in joy when they said that you would be trained to see if you were suitable for moving to Hero Studies next year.
You weren’t so excited to see another person there in the gym though.
Not only was Shinsou somewhat in competition with you for the same goal, he was also ridiculously good at it. He was very serious with the whole thing in the same way as you did which you respected but somehow, he seemed to find amusement in your frustration as much as you were frustrated by him.
“You know, if you stop being such a sore loser, we might actually get along.” you rolled your eyes as you heard his irritating voice when you were about to push open the door to the gym. Another day, another training section with the person who made you grit your teeth every time you talk to him.
You turned around with a glare and exaggeratingly shrugged, “Why are you so interested in getting along with me? As far as I’m concerned, being a lone wolf was your brand.”
You were expecting to see that smirk but you faced him to see that it had dropped. He looked almost sincere and the scrawl on your face went stiff. “Because it took me a while to see that pushing people away won’t get you far,” he said, “we’re actually pretty similar, you and I-”
“Let’s just go back to kicking each other’s ass, it’s more fun that way.” walking pass the door without sparing him another glance, you could hear the sigh from behind your back. If you had to receive a lecture on the importance of peer relationships with someone, it would be the least convincing to get it from Shinsou Hitoshi whose only interaction you had with was beating each other up.
Beads of sweat slid down your forehead as you blocked yet another hit from your opponent, finding the chance to strike back. The gym was filled with the sound of grunting and the squeaking of the hard wooden floor as the fight carried on with a feverish force. It was a level playing field, as much as you were worn out, the heavy breaths and the way his shirt stuck onto his body showed that Shinsou was not exactly having the easiest time fending you off.
You would never give him the satisfaction of hearing you say it out loud but it you were not the one on the receiving end of it, watching Shinsou fight was an enjoyment. It’s the way his body moved, every muscle working together in the swiftest motion and each move was so precise. When you saw him in the Sports Festival, you did not take him as the combat type of person but apparently the training did him well.
Sometimes, you weren’t sure if you could say the same for you.
You were immediately caught off guard when Shinsou decked and moved out of your view. Suddenly, there was a firm grip on your forearm that couldn’t pull back fast enough after your lunge.
Before you knew it, you crashed onto the ground and groaned when you heard the line that you were almost expecting to hear. “Is this really the best you got?”
You snapped your eyes open, disregarding the pain that wanted to force them shut out of instinct, and wanted to snarl at him with a comeback of your own. It took you by surprise when you felt a heavy weight on your shoulder and Shinsou’s face hovering right above yours. He was had both knees on your side, trapping you and keeping you on the floor.
“What the fuck? Get off me-”
“Why do you hate me so much?”
Blood rushed to your face at the close proximity between you and him. You tried to ignore the fact that you could almost feel his shaky breath fanning your face as you retaliated, “Did you heard what you just said to me?”
“What is it about me that made you detest me so much?” his grip on your shoulder tightened slightly as he spoke, “You kept coming back at me with the same attitude when I had been trying to be nice to you. You ignored me when I walk past you in the halls. Look, if this is about what I say to you after we spur, I’m sorry but-”
“I don’t hate you!” you yelled and tried to get out of his grip, you were not ready to have this huge confrontation with him when you yourself had been refusing the mental debate in your head. Did you feel bad for treating him like that? Always, but your guilt was gone every time you felt the chilling wooden floor under your back as you heard his words rang in your ears. It reminded you of your own failure and although it wasn’t fair to blame it on someone who had no business with your own insecurities, you just couldn’t help it from letting your anger out. “I’m a sore loser, you said it yourself. The only reason I’m still here talking to you is because I had to unless I want to just hand away the only shot I have at doing what I want.”
His brows knitted together, a hint of hurt flashing through before a sharp look replaced it in his eyes, “Do you think it’s not the same for me? I could be doing something else that actually benefits me instead of bickering with you but I still tried anyways because I thought we could both use a friend!” He nearly shouted at you with the last sentence and you winced. He let go of yours shoulder and stood up, “But apparently, I was wrong.”
The cold tone in his voice made you shiver. You weren’t sure what that feeling was when you stared at the back view of him walking away, a loud thump from the door echoed in the empty gym as he left. You sat on the floor, still processing what just happened but failed to keep your mind straight at the weight from where he held you down ghosting on your shoulder and that disturbing feeling of the churn in your stomach distracting you.
“Hey! We’re going to this new cafe after school, wanna come?”
“Can’t,” you groaned as you turned down your friend, “had to train with that asshole again.”
Your friend snickered, “What’s going on between you and Shinsou?”
“There is no ‘me and Shinsou’, what are you talking about?” you raised a brow at your friend’s smug smile. You weren’t lying, ever since that day in the gym, he stopped trying to approach you like he did before and you obviously had no intention to reach out to him yourself. You still held on to your argument that you didn’t hate him but it seemed like you couldn’t quite say the same for him with the way he gave you a side eye each time you walked past him. Never one to back down, you would always return with an equally icy glare. Sparring did not go any differently, the two of you were more determined to beat each other than before after you got farther from being friends.
“Oh, please,” you rolled your eyes at their grin and the amused tone they were using, “everyone can feel the tension between you two.”
You let out a soft ‘tch’ in annoyance, “Because we both want to strangle each other?”
“Yeah, yeah, keep denying it,” they smirked, “but the way you two stared each other down? I’m more convinced that you both want to ravish the other person-”
“Ok, how about no?” you ignored their cackling as you swung you bag on your shoulders and made way to the door, “And if you use the word ‘ravish’ again, I will throw up on you.”
You were a prideful person and you knew it but there were times when holding up the wall that was your ego put too much strain on you. You could not take failure, you did not have to be the best at everything but you would not accept the torture that was being anything less than serviceable. It was mid-term season and you had not gotten enough sleep for at least a week. Your progress on hero training was everything but ideal with the standards you put on yourself and you were exhausted. Now that the week was over, there was nothing you wanted to do more than hiding in your dorm room and hibernate.
But no, you had to spend such a beautiful weekend doing extra training with the one person you did not want to see.
Shinsou could sense that something was wrong when you stormed into the gym without acknowledging his presence at all. Normally, there would be at least an eye roll or a glare but you did not even look at him as you threw your stuff down onto the side. Unlike your usual good posture, you shoulders were tensed up and he could almost see a slight hunch on your back. The bags under your eyes could almost rival his own.
“You looked like shit, where have you been?”
He was expecting a snarl and words caught in the back of his throat as he heard a sigh instead. You sounded so tired and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with it. “Look, I really don’t have the energy for this today.” you ran a hand through your hair and tried to concentrate, “Let’s just get this done and over with.”
“Right.” he wasn’t sure it felt weird that you two weren’t bickering because he was always so annoyed by your snarky attitude but he pushed it to the back of his head as the two of you got into position.
Unlike most times, you didn’t strike the first move. It didn’t take a genius to see that your moves were way sloppier than usual. Shinsou had been spurring with you for long enough to see that you were not holding up with your standard performance. At certain moments, he was so sure that you were gonna lose balance and collapse.
“Stop, stop, stop.” you looked at him in confusion when he suddenly gripped your wrist, “I can’t do this anymore.”
“What?” you asked in disbelief as you tried to break free of his grasp.
“I can’t fight you when you are like this.”
You bit the inside of your cheeks as you felt humiliation building up in you. He hadn’t let go of you and you yanked your hand away from him, “I don’t want your pity.”
“I’m not pitying you.” Shinsou sighed at how difficult you were being, “It’s gonna look bad on me if I win you when you look like you are about to pass out anyways. Let’s just call it quits, ok?”
If it was any times other than now, you would have yelled at him to not go soft on you and carry on with what you were doing. But right now, his offer sounded just a bit too tempting for your worn out self.
Shinsou wasn’t sure why he felt so relieved when you nodded and backed down, going to pack your things without much protest as he thought you would.
“Thanks.” you mumbled as you took the can of soda from his hand. Taking a large gulp, you let out a content sigh as the cold liquid brought you back to life.
You didn’t move away when Shinsou sat down next to you on the bench outside of the gym. He stared at the side of your face as while you lowered your head, your fingers tracing the rim of the can mindlessly. He had never looked at you properly until now, too busy either fighting you off or trying to keep up the part of an eager rival. With your eyes draping down and your lips pursing tightly together to form a frown, he was all too bothered by how distressed you looked for someone who was supposed to hate you.
“Sometimes, I’m not sure if I can convince myself that I’m good enough anymore.” you said with a forced chuckle and the pitiful sound made his heart ache.
“If you’re not good enough then what does that make me?”
You gave him a weak shrug, “Well, someone who could beat me every time, that I am sure of.”
You must be really beaten down to say it out loud. Shinsou furrowed his brows together as he thought hard on what he should say. He thought that he wanted you to admit that he was a worthy opponent but the fact that someone as prideful as you were was basically stepping on themselves, it left a really bad taste in his mouth. This was not like you and despite what you said basically acknowledging his own abilities, it made him feel terrible.
“Are you kidding me? Do you have no idea how much of a hard time you give me every damn time?”
You snorted at his attempt a cheering you up, the corner of his lips tugging upwards as he saw the small smile on your face. “Right.”
“So stop putting yourself down because you’re insulting me in the process.” you gave him a soft swat on the arm as he grinned, “Whatever is bothering you right now, please pull through. I want my tough competition back.”
“God, you are so infuriating!” you laughed and shook your head. Tapping the side of the cold aluminum, you stayed silent for a while before turning to him. “Thanks, I guess.”
“You’re welcome, I guess.” Shinsou said in amusement at your attempt to lower your pride. You looked almost flustered just saying that and it was adorable to see you let your guard down around him for once.
For a while, you two just sat there without saying a word. The silence was comforting, something you never expected to feel around Shinsou. As the sun slowly descended, everything was tinted with the golden light and the warmth on your skin reminded you of the comfort of being surrounded by blankets on your own bed.
“I think I should go.” you stood up and turned to face him with you back towards the sunlight. Shinsou could feel the flush on his face and he wasn’t sure if it was the sun or the genuine grin you had on your face that gave him the warmth on his cheeks. “Next time, I’m not losing again.”
He got up and looked at you straight in the eyes, looking more delighted than he was competitive. “We’ll see about that.”
Shinsou was caught off guard when you smiled at him as you entered the gym, not that he was complaining. “Ready to get beaten up?”
“Say that to yourself.”
You two had spurred for countless of times but somehow it felt different this time round. Something clicked and the two of you were more aggressive and less calculated with your moves. Both of you were set to win and you must have snapped out of that bad headspace you were in because Shinsou had never seen you so fierce before, even when you two had all that pent up angst towards each other. At one point, he could not even make a move of his own as he was too busy just blocking your hits. How did you get so much better in the span of days?
There was a glint in your eyes that he had never seen before and it was just enough to distract him for long enough that you managed to break his defense. With a hand gripping onto his upper arm, you tripped him down with a kick and pinned him on the floor. Intimating what he once did to you, you pressed him down and trapped him in between your knees.
You were right above him as you came to the realization that you had won against him for the first time since the training started. Still panting and struggling to gather your breath, you smiled. Not so much because you managed to pin him down, but more for the fact that you could actually do it.
If it had happened a week ago, he would have been infuriated. But now, he could not help it but being mesmerized by how you look hovering above him. Your hair was sticking to your forehead and you were flushed from the fight, would it be wrong if he thought that you looked oddly good? You were so close to him. If he sit up just a little taller, your faces would touch and he was so tempted.
Your eyes widened in surprise when you felt the abrupt peck on your lips. The boy who was still beneath you did not even make that big of a move for you to notice. It you could not see the faint blush on his face, you would have thought that it was an illusion from the adrenaline.
Shinsou was expecting you to slap him or yell at him for kissing you out of nowhere. He wasn’t proud of it, but it was right there and he could not help himself.
His breath stopped as you licked your lips and smirked. “Is that really the best you got?”
Shinsou wasn’t sure if he was more intimidated or turned on by that.

Excerpt:
“What are you thinking about?” Iida asks softly.
“...I don’t know,” comes Shinsou’s response, muffled slightly by the fabric of his hoodie, bunched over his mouth. “Nothing.”
“Nothing or you don’t know?”
“Nothing.”
Iida sighs. “Shinsou, I want to help you. But you’re going to have to help me a bit in return. Tell me what you need.”
Shinsou gives him a long, pointed look. “I need you to leave me the hell alone.”

Shinsoubowl ♡ Day 5 - Acceptance
oh look ‘wearing something around their neck’ buddies hehe~ anyways, another rare pair, i’d like to think that shinsou would be one of the few people to be able to empathize with toga since both have despised quirks and himiko would be touched to have such an understanding friend, hitoshi ♡
