God damn, studying after a decade of depression is really feeding my imagination.

Here we have a Modern college AU (which I hate), in which Shen Jiu and Luo Bingge were switched at birth, so the Bingge grew up as Shen Yuan’s very overprotective brother, and Shen Jiu as Luo Bingmei’s very acerbic and argumentative brother.

This prolog is from Shang Qinghua’s POV, and I doubt I’ll ever write more of this.

God, why couldn’t the student offices digitize already!

Shang Hua was on the brink of despair, and wondered if it was worth keeping this job. He could make more money writing porn! And it would be less stressful!

But no, it was just another year until he graduated, and could find a cubby hole of his own in the corporate hell, doing accounting and wait for the inevitable program that could do the job better and faster than any human. If he was smart, he could have some savings by then, and then be able to write to his heart’s content.

“- fucking psychology?! You’ll fit in with every other neurotic narcissist in you classes-“

Shang Hua heaved a deep sigh and plastered on his customer-service smile as he looked up. And up. The two freshmen were tall, though the curly haired one was even taller than his companion. Non-curly was sneering at his companion, his long, oval face would have been lovely if he’d had any other expression. Curly, on the other hand, was in the middle of an angry rant, and he too, was unfairly attractive, if much more Shang Hua’s type with big muscles and well-defined jaw.

“Oh? Then you’ll fit in with the budding criminals in business courses,” non-curly snapped back, before turning to Shang Hua. “I’m Su Jiuhe, I need my room key and student ID.”

“Su Binghe, same.”

Brothers, huh? One couldn’t tell at all, thought Shang Hua as he fetched the correctly labeled folders. “I’ll need to see some ID before giving these to you,” he told the frostily silent brothers and was presented with two brand spanking new driver’s licenses. “Thank you. Now, if you could fill in the paperwork and sign at the end, you’ll be all done. There are some chairs over there if you want.”

Curly, Su Binghe, headed for the chairs, while non-curly, Su Jiuhe, stayed at the counter. Shang Hua wanted to reach for his phone for something to do, but he could feel Su Jiuhe judging him and his faded graphic t-shirt, so he just sat there in his swirly chair, leg bouncing.

The brothers filled their paperwork in silence, and listened as Shang Hua gave a quick reminder on how the electric student ID could be used. As they left, they started their fight up again, before even exiting the lobby.

A few days later, the pair walked back in.

Except… curly’s hair was a little longer, more of a Jon Snow look than the Robb Stark from before. And non-culry was smiling and thanked curly as he held a door open.

“- wait for the classes! I wonder how many courses I can take? So many things affect literature, history, psychology, gender of both reader and writer!”

“Don’t forget politics and even laws,” curly said, smiling as he followed.

“Point. The list of banned books is always fascinating!”

“Hello! I’m Shen Bing, this is my brother Shen Yuan,” the Su Binghe doppelgänger said with a sunny smile. “Can we have our dorm keys and student IDs, please!”

Numbly Shang Hua got the requested files. He wasn’t paid enough for this. Someone somewhere managed a baby switch with two sets of twins, and now they were all four at Tsinghua University. If this was real life, no one, absolutely no one, could call his stories unrealistic.

But now he was also… kind of intrigued. What would happen now? Would the twins ever meet? Was there going to be some kind of Parent-trap-esq identity shenanigans in the future?

His porn writing imagination took flight. What if one pair of curly and non-curly met and started dating? It wouldn’t be incest, but still tickle that same thirst, fucking someone identical to the person one grew up with as brothers.

His mind filled with dirty possibilities, Shang Hua rummaged through his bag as the Shen brothers did their paperwork, and finally pulled out one of his banged up notebooks. No way in hell was he writing porn on the student office reception computer, that was asking for trouble.

I mainly designed the SQQ off of his donghua design and I used SQH’s book cover design. I was really inspired by @starchazion’s Shang Twins AU and @sanlangsaturday’s art! I was originally going to have Qīnghuá’s equipment be green as well, but I thought it would look too similar to Qīngqiū’s

Much ado about nothing Scum Villain AU

With Shen Jiu as Beatrice and Bingge as Benedick. (Because I just want to see them throw biting remarks and insults at each other.) Shen Yuan as Hero and Luo Binghe as Claudio. Tianlang-jun and Zhuzhi-lang are the bad guys who try to slander Shen Yuan in order to sabotage the wedding. Zhuzhi-lang sees it as a way to "help" Shen Yuan avoid a (presumably) unwanted wedding. But something goes horribly wrong and Shen Yuan actually dies and Shen Jiu is out for blood. Shen Yuan returns later in his plant body though and reunites with Binghe.

Shen Jiu about Bingge: "In our last conflict, four of his five wits went halting off, and now is the whole man governed with one." (from MAAN Act 1 Scene 1), telling Bingge he only has one braincell.

Since Shen Jiu and Bingge can't physically beat each other up as to not break the still new and fragile peace treaty between cultivators and demons, they have to resort to a war of words. At some point everyone around them is just super annoyed and done with their constant quarrels. So, they - under the lead of Shen Yuan and Binghe - try to set Shen Jiu and Bingge up with each other.

Everyone agrees to set those two up, since it surely would benefit the newly established union between demons and cultivators and continued peace if those two would stop their constant fights. Yue Qingyuan is not very pleased, but what can he do. So, he just stays quiet and watches the events unfold with a frown.

On the other side, Tianlang-Jun probably wants to raise some chaos and destroy the peace between the cultivators and demons. Since he has first-hand experience that cultivators can't be trusted. Zhuzhi-lang is helping him, but at the same time thinks he's helping Shen Yuan avoid a marriage of convenience. Surely, Master Shen doesn't love Binghe and only agreed for the sake of peace.

One evening, Binghe hears a conversation between Shen Yuan and Zhuzhi-lang. He misunderstands and thinks Shen Yuan doesn't want to marry him and plans to elope with Zhuzhi-lang instead. He feels sad and hurt - but unlike Claudio - he would never shame and dishonour Shen Yuan publicly. So Tianlang-jun has to take more drastic measures, but things go wrong and result in Shen Yuan's accidental death. Shen Jiu is struck with grief over the death of his twin and blames Binghe for it. So he ends up asking Bingge to kill his twin.

Luckily Shen Yuan doesn't stay dead for long since Shang Qinghua, with the help of Mobei-jun, finds a way to resurrect him. The misunderstanding between Shen Yuan and Binghe gets cleared and the marriage can commence.

Shen Yuan and Binghe get happily married. And Shen Jiu and Bingge become aware that they are in love. (Which doesn't mean they stopped quarrelling, though it's only lover's quarrels from now on.)

Since there is no tournament nor Shao Khan to worry about, Shang Tsung would probably not have to work as much. I’d imagine he’s basically the male wife of the marriage😆 Medusa!Reader is more the breadwinner, as you had a job long before marrying Shang Tsung.

Consider perhaps You and Shang Tsung married AFTER the Mortal Kombat Tournament, where Shang Tsung DIDN’T betray Earthrealm. Meaning not only was the venue larger and filled with your fellow combatants (including Quan-chi as the best man) but Raiden was also the officiant.

You’re still a Gorgon, but it wasn’t the Elder Gods that cursed you as much as it was Shao Khan who did so. However, Shang Tsung avoided his rapid aging curse and need for souls.

After you and Shang Tsung married, you had your eldest child, Jin, a year later. You saw no reason to not have them, as you and Shang Tsung live comfortably, don’t have any world-ending enemies, and you have the means to do so. However, if anyone’s seen Shang Tsung’s island and his palace, it’s obvious you both could afford having more than one child. Given you have plenty of servants to help with keeping the palace tidy and see to the children when neither you or Shang Tsung are available. Although, that doesn’t mean you and your husband aren’t both equally involve in your children’s life.

Speaking of your children, you and Shang Tsung have 7. 3 of them are triplets and 2 are twins. Most of them have inherited your curse but to a lesser extent. Some of them moved out by the time they reach adulthood, but they still swing by every now and again. Although this has many guests and friends constantly questioning how many children you and Shang Tsung have again. You and your husband are proud of your children, when they go off to start their own careers, after finishing college.

You and Shang’s life is basically like the Addams Family sitcom. The island can be beautiful and creepy, and the palace so old that it could belong in a museum. Quan-chi often visits up from the Netherworld, and is lovingly known as “Uncle Chi-chi” by the children. You love to grow sentient and carnivorous plants which you tend to by hand. Shang Tsung loves to spend his time to pursue any dark magic or endeavor's, often competing with Quan-chi on who’s best at it.

You and Shang Tsung’s children are often up to their own sort of mischief, such as trying to maim or dismember one another. Sometimes they try to get rid of their younger siblings when they first arrive. Once Shang Tsung caught the triplets trying to offer their younger twin siblings to some Netherworld demon in return for knowledge.

Despite the Shang House having their ups and downs, there is love and devotion within the strange home. Despite the passing eons, you and Shang Tsung can’t keep your hands off one another, much to the disgust of your children and Quan-chi at times. Yes, life couldn’t seem to get any better for you and Shang Tsung…

I've been veeeeery slowly working on this gameplay alongside my regular Untamed/MDZS gameplay. There's a billion WangXian fanfics/fanarts with dragon!LWJ, huli-jing!WWX, or bunny!LSZ/AY, so I kinda blended those AUs together--don't ask how a dragon and a fox create rabbit children--when you've Cultivated to immortality, anything's possible! 😅

I also wanted A-Yuan & Lan Sizhui to be 2 separate kids, so I could play with different ages. I've teased LSZ in my other MDZS posts/preview pics, but this is the first time I've shown him and A-Yuan.

In my Kemonomimi/Modern AU, WangXian left Shang Simla to live in Pagoda Isles with their kids. LWJ is a world famous concert pianist & qin player; and WWX's a full-time videogame streamer.

I sorta love the idea of a God Au type thing for Svsss, where our favs are gods and the demons are still demons but like,,,, plus ig

So imagine with me; Creator god Shang Qinghua. Somehow the top of the ladder yet totally unknown, on account of being a bit of a shy guy and just not interacting much, and so the general lore is that the elusive creator god is sorta,,,, sleeping? Gone. I mean when you pray to him he answers, but he hasn’t shown his face in years and no one knows what he looks like.

And then we have Shang Qinghua who is that god, but is also worshiped as a smaller god, the god of organisation and collection. Based solely on his probable collection of dangerous items in cannon and the fact he’s known to be a recluse but is the guy to go to (pray to) for help organising all manner of things, books, shells, human skulls, etc.

Shen yuan and Shen jiu are twin gods, Shen Jiu of order, scripture, etc. Shen yuan is the younger twin, god of ideas- like comments, creativity, and of kind words. (Something like this, it’s a concept-) They bounce off each other, fulfilling the entire major god need of having someone to pray to for knowledge and wisdom. Shen yuan has a tendency to wander and is this worshiped for the more creative and thoughtful stuff while Shen Jiu is the logical and tactical one.

All the other peak lords do their thing, whatever- and demons do as well. Gods and demons (heavenly or not-) are closer then Gods and humans. Also, humans can be taught by gods, and students of gods are imbued with powers like maybe a demigod-??? Still some qi stuff there of course but like, only Shang Qinghua can feel the base world magic in normal humans, and the other gods have to like give a small share of power to power their disciples, meaning that disciples are are very clearly chosen.

Demons believe in gods and worship some, but no gods are demons (save for luo Binghe but he’s like half god half demon-????) and demons have power from their own imbued and natural magic. It’s weird. Their biology is similar ig-

Anyways, Shang Qinghua only gets caught cause Mobei-jun nearly dies from an assassination attempt and Shang Qinghua when ballistic on the demon and anyways he finds his little god’s habit of making small flower and rocks adorable also yeah he’s taking the “this tiny god is actually my creator and also absurdly powerful but is scared of the dark and also loves me so much” very well he’s very proud.

I like to imagine Mobei about the au with og!qinghua and qing-two-a (badum tss) is just the "Holy shit two cakes" thing. This is his snake qinghua and this is his rat qinghua. They're both nasty little things but one of them is venomous so you have to be careful with that one. Either way, he has two of them and you will not separate him from them.

That other anon made it sound like ONLY Cang Qiong cultivators have gaydar, and I feel like that needs to be a tag all its own.

The Gaydar is a very precious Cang Qiong technique taught to only peak lords and their succeeding disciples due to its (potentially lethal) consequences.

Generally speaking, yin cultivators - and women are most often yin cultivators - are able to master this technique quicker. But users of the technique must be conscious that every time this technique is cast, it may fail, thus it is vital that they ensure that their opinion doesn't mix and taint this technique with confirmation bias. The Xian Shu peak lord is traditionally the strongest at this technique out of all the Cang Qiong peak lords (and Qing Jing the weakest), but this has not been true for all generations.

To talk more about the Mortal Kombat RE AU (Mortal Evil for short) my twin and I are working on, here's the basics I got down. (This is infecting my brain dude).

It will sort of be Johnshi centered as they're the catalyst of the story, but it's not the only ship. Taleena will be included as a parallel to them, which @yxnswife came up with. They both will meet tragic ends.

The OIA will be an umbrella rebrand, which Kenshi used to work for. This is inspired by Amara's idea for Kenshi to be a Mia parallel cause of both of them working for corrupt groups and my idea for Johnny to be kidnapped like Mia.

The OIA would've messed with tarkat and created what I call moldy tarkat in replacement of the mold from RE7

Cassie, Takeda, and Jacqui do exist here, with Cassie and Takeda being twins. Thank Amara for that, their brain in amazing. Also Johnny, Kenshi, Sonya, and Jax are a power polycule. Also Amara's idea.

Shang Tsung is the big bad, having been behind the moldy tarkat. It is created after he takes over the OIA

Kenshi, taking after Ethan, is infected. But unlike him, Kenshi dies as a mercy kill after he kills Johnny.

The characters that aren't the important characters and big bad of this AU are part of a small apocalypse commune group.

1 In a very broken version of Canon, shortly after his transmigration Shen Yuan ends up a subject of a prophecy where he's named the wife of the Demon Emperor… except there's no word of who's the actual Demon Emperor in question is and hell if Shen Yuan will say anything on the matter. While the world debates whether the prophecy means he's the reincarnation of a past Empress or the eventual wife of a future Emperor, the demon realms decide to just make things simple and put him in the throne. Aka, Shen Yuan is forced to become the regent of a nonexistent empire while half of the Demon world looks to challenge his authority, and the other half tries to win his hand in marriage. 

2 Shen Yuan is an alien observer trying and failing to adhere to first contact protocols while observing the world of PIDW. The system is his AI companion there to assist and keep him on track. They are both bad at their jobs.

3 Shen Yuan transmigrates into a post apocalyptic version of the canon PIDW after Bing-ge let the world fall into a ruin post "Bing-mei vs Bing-ge extra". With his broken System insisting that he's Shen Qingqiu now, Shen Yuan begins to rebuild the destroyed Cang Qiong Mountain Sect. (Possibly via necromancy).

4 During a drunken episode of feeling sorry for himself and his lot in life, Shang Qinghua writes a short story where one of his Shixiongs is taken over by a genre savvy transmigrator - and soon after Shen Qingqiu changes. Realising very quickly what happened, Shang Qinghua begins plotting to do it again - this time intentionally.

5 Emperor Binghe decides to relive his life but due to some sort of mistake is born as his own identical twin. Elsewhere, the System has an error during Shen Yuan's transmigration and rewrites the canon to give Shen Qingqiu a twin as well.

Mortal Kombat Deity! AU: The Gods

I finally got around to finishing up the foundations for the gods in my AU. I’m pretty happy with what I’ve got so far, and my OC makes an appearance too.

Geras, the Eon

As old as time itself, Geras is considered a Primordial, and is the impartial observer of the world’s movements and machinations. His role is to keep time moving without any hindrances or glitches.

He appoints new gods each era based on the way they acted in their past lives, watching them live through the Hourglass (an entity separate to his chronomagic.)

A sucker for fine arts, Geras can usually be found wandering in museums and art galleries whenever he chooses to visit the mortal plane.

Liu Kang, the Creator

As the god of creation, Liu Kang shares an interesting power balance with Geras - while Creation requires Time to complete, Time cannot exist without Creation.

In the mortal plane, his main motifs are a pair of dragons - one of them breathing fire - to symbolise how he can be benevolent and malevolent; a large statue of this motif sits in the centre of the village he patrons.

The villagers of Fengjian have chosen him to be their patron god, at the request of his demigods in the Defenders of Earthrealm.

Shang Tsung and Tora, the Cycle of Life and Death

Shang Tsung represents death and has the moniker “Lifestealer”, Tora represents Life and has the moniker “Lifegiver”.

Both of them are responsible for the collection and transfer of souls to their next resting place - the mortal plane represents their power to do this using skulls and butterflies.

The mortal plane also represents them as twin snakes coiled at the base of Liu Kang’s statues to symbolise their protection of him and their readiness to strike unpredictably.

Sub-Zero and Scorpion, the Seasons

Brothers in charge of their respective season and Grandmasters of the groups that carry out the transition - Sub-Zero leads the Lin Kuei as the Winter cohort, Scorpion leads the Shirai Ryu as the Summer cohort. They have a third brother, Smoke, who represents the transition between the seasons.

They each have temples in the realm of the gods in a place called Season’s End; Sub-Zero’s stands taller while Scorpion’s covers more ground as apt representations of their temperatures.

The mortal plane has two festivals a year - one to commemorate each season - where they make offerings in the hope that these appease the Seasons so that they aren’t so harsh when their time comes.

Sindel, the Judge

As the embodiment of judgement, Sindel assesses the souls that are then passed on to Shang Tsung and Tora for appropriation.

She has two daughters, Mileena and Kitana - demigods who rule the mortal plane. She refuses to acknowledge Mileena’s Tarkat condition.

Her hair is both her weapon and her main vanity.

Continuing my seasons AU

A little bit more about the AU:

MBJ was originally not a being of the Heavenly God. However, after the previous winter god fell, he was promoted on Shang Qinghua's recommendation to become the next winter god. As time goes by, the two of them fell in love, causing chaos in the seasons on the mortal realm. Hearing the complaints from the commoners, the Heavenly Emperor decided to separate the different seasonal gods, ensuring that they can never meet each other for too long before another cycle starts.

A little bit about the inspiration for this AU:

There are some debates regarding the origins of the winter god 玄冥 Xuan Ming, and whether He is a part of the four season deities. As you can see in these images (link), Xuan Ming is the only one out of the four riding two snakes, instead of twin dragons. This has led some to theorize that Xuan Ming is a later addition, whereas the originals were Gou Mang (Spring god), Zhu Rong (Summer god), and Ru Shou (Autumn god). Hence my idea that MBJ joined as a later god, after SQH chanced upon him and gave his name to the Heavenly Emperor.
