Dolphin rescue! Clearwater Marine Aquarium responded to a young bottlenose calf found beneath a fishing pier entangled in a crab trap, not unlike their famous Winter was discovered in 2005. CMA rescue responders spent several hours attempting to locate the calf’s mother before ultimately transporting the animal to SeaWorld Orlando for rehabilitation under the direction of NOAA.
Should you ever encounter a dolphin in a similar situation, please do what these onlookers did and stand back after contacting a stranding hotline, allowing the professionals to do their job. Best of luck to you, little one!

Just realised that, with Kiska’s death, it only leaves 3 wild caught Icelandic killer whales left in captivity;
Ulises (SeaWorld San Diego), age 45
Katina (SeaWorld Orlando), age 46
Stella (Port of Nagoya), age 35
There are only a few of the original wild caught whales left in captivity now.
2 from BC (Lolita and Corky), and Kshamenk in Argentina. The rest of the wild captures are all the new Russian caught whales. (Not including Morgan as she was a rescue).
I also realised just how many whales we’ve lost since I started posting (on here and facebook) in 2010.
Wild caught Icelandic whales; Bingo, Oscar, Kasatka, Tilikum, Freya
Wild caught Japanese whale; Nami
Wild caught Russian whales; Narnia, plus at least 3 whales that died at TINRO post capture, plus 2-5 whales at Chimelong maybe (it’s rumoured 2 calves have been born but have never been mentioned by the park, plus they said they imported 9 whales but have only shown photos/video of six. We will have to wait until they go on public display to be sure)
Captive born whales that died; Taima, Kalina, Kohana, Skyla, Vicky, Ula, Sumar, Nakai, Amaya, Kyara, Valentin, Kayla, Unna.
That’s a lot of whales to watch die (26-29).
In comparison there have been 14-16 births.
(I don’t know where I was going with this post, I was just looking at the stats).

Hi hello this might be random but I know you're having a tough time lately and you love Benophie so... Do you have thoughts/headcanons about Modern Benophie at Disney World in Orlando? (Disney World is the happiest place on earth so I thought it would be a nice happy headcanon for you to think about) I always thought that Modern Sophie would be a big Disney lover. <3
Ohhhh Benophie at Orlando!!
I LOVE THIS IDEA.
Sophie is absolutely a disney lover, so is Benedict so the thought of taking their kids to America and Disney World would be amazing. Though I do think they would likely go with Anthony and Kate with all of the kids together but I totally have some ideas on this…
Not loads as sadly I have never been myself!!!
Sophie is absolutely one of those mum’s who would have her kids in matching T-Shirts, if we take the BE AU Sophie, she totally makes them herself, each of the kids’ names on back and she’s got one for her and Benedict as well and she totally insists that she and Benedict wearing matching Mickey and Minnie ears.
They would go when all the kids were young enough to want to dress up but old enough to appreciate it so like, Charlie would be 12, Alex 10, William 8 and Violet 6.
Charlie would be excited about the Star Wars and Universal things and spend his time either dressed up in Wizarding gear or as a Jedi or Storm Trooper.
Alex was obsessed with his older brother and demanded to be matching his brother so would be dressed as the matching pair for his brother, though rather than being a storm trooper he wanted to be BB8 so Sophie made him a little costume.
William was obsessed with animals and the dinosaurs still at this age so he was in a dinosaur onesie and just wanted to be around the animals and loved the seaworld.
Violet was all Disney Princess. Each day she was dressed as a different princess and had to have her photo taken with each princess and each character as they went and begged her mummy to dress up with her. So Sophie was dressed as a matching princess with her daughter, much to Benedict’s amusement and delight.
(and definitely his delight after the kids disappeared for an afternoon and he disappeared up his wifes skirts…)
Benedict wanted lots of family photos and was one of those annoying tourists who carried his camera around everywhere and spent forever trying to get the right photo until all of his children were shouting at him to just take the photo.
After the first day of queuing for everything, Sophie relented and let Benedict buy all the fast passes because she had soon realised 4 children in the heat and long queues was just hell.
Alex and Charlie would eat so many sweets they threw up multi coloured sick and ruined their t-shirts.
Alex and William fell out on the flight over who got to sit next to their mama. Violet fell asleep on her father.
At one point Sophie and Benedict would be carrying two children each after they had been so sure they would be able to stay up to see the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom only for them all to start whining and crying after the fireworks because they were tired.
The highlight for Sophie was some of the tourists coming up and asking her if her husband was one of the Prince’s as he looked like he could be Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid and Anthony’s face when the woman laughed at him when he asked which Disney Prince he was.
For Benedict it was the look on all of his children’s face which he managed to get on camera when they walked into Disneyworld for the first time.
The low point? The 8 hour delay on the flight home and all four of the children having a massive argument in the middle of the terminal be

June 13- Universal
Today we went to Universal. The tickets were pretty cheap only about 60 dollars ish. I forgot to take my meds which (spoiler) ended up turning out poorly for me. Jordan and I left slightly after the group but ended up arriving before the others. We arrived with plenty of time to book our tickets for Super Nintendo World on the app.
Jordan and I immediately went to the Jujutsu Kaisen 4D ride. I was so excited to be able to enjoy one of my favorite anime on an official Universal ride. I looked up a summary for the 4D show and told Naomi about it since I ran into her and she hadn’t seen the anime. Knowing the plot of the 4D show was helpful to understand what was going on since there were no subtitles. I got a pizza bun that looked like a divine dog and a jjk-themed churro. I was complimented for my earrings, shirt and smile by multiple employees throughout the day. I must’ve been called cute at least 10 times. It was very sweet and wholesome. At the Jujutsu Kaisen store, I purchased a reasonably priced Gojo bracelet. I also got some cute photos at the photo ops where the employee helped us pose.
In the mood for another Jujutsu Kaisen ride, Jordan and I visited Hollywood Dream (a ride similar to Rip-Ride Rockit). I wanted to do the Jujutsu Kaisen theme song which was exclusive for Backdrop. Backdrop is the version of Hollywood Dream that rides entirely backwards. I briefly blacked out for the first time on a ride. It was really fun and thrilling. It was extremely hot (I was probably overheating due to withdrawal) so I ate Snoopy-themed frozen strawberries. I really wanted to make sure Jordan would eat so I took him to a burger place that he didn’t really like. I was just glad that he ate.
Next we went to the Jaws ride, which was SO well done. It’s really similar to the Jungle Cruise ride at Disney Orlando but with loads of special effects. It was entirely in Japanese but it was fun to see how animated the guide was as he shot the shotgun and the animatronic shark appeared.
As a casual Nintendo enjoyer, I thought Super Nintendo World was amazing. I didn’t understand many of the references, but Jordan pointed them out to me. The entire area was so incredibly designed and detailed. I kept remarking how amazed I was about the love and care that went into the area. We went on the Racing Koopas ride which was like real world Mario kart. with semi-clear VR headsets/glasses combined with a real track. I collected 104 coins whereas Jordan collected a measly 79 coins. Truly tragic for him as I entered my pro gamer era.
We went on the Flying Dinosaur ride which was similar to Manta at Seaworld. It was thrilling but made me light-headed. I hadn’t eaten actual food and was still going through withdrawal.
Jordan and I FOUGHT FOR OUR LIVES to find something vegetarian to eat. The places that we wanted were closed. We decided to go to a buffet place and ask the employe about the vegetarian menu on their website. It took us like over an hour to get me something to eat and my withdrawal was getting worse. I felt awful that it took so long. It was SO spicy. I was fighting for my life part two. I drank so much water and tea. I wanted to find Jordan somewhere to eat and we stumbled upon a pizza place that was not on the map. I was frustrated because I could’ve literally just gotten vegetarian pizza all along. I found out Jordan blots his pizza which was cute since I do the same.
At some point, we tried to do the Spy x Family scavenger hunt but were unable to since it was entirely in Japanese and closed. I was able to get my sister a little Spy x Family present which was cute. I also got a Hello Kitty churro and soda. The churro was strawberry milk flavored and delicious. The soda was Calprico and awful.
We went on Hollywood Dream again but rode forward this time. It was funny since we picked the Jujutsu Kaisen option but it was entirely Japanese dialogue and screaming without music. It was pretty silly but fun regardless.
I decided to go on the Doraemon ride which was TRAGIC but so silly. It is a bit with Jordan and I that I call Doraermon my man. This is because Professor Smith said no one likes Doraemon as much as Hello Kitty despite how much the government wants them to. I decided we should give Doraemon the love he deserves despite Jordan insisting that he looks nothing like a cat. The ride was entirely VR while on a thrill ride. It was glitchy and I felt SO SICK.
As the park was closing, we started to head out. Jordan was sad so I decided to buy him popcorn and a star cookie. It took a while to find our way home on the trains and I was genuinely worried we would be stuck. I got some cool liminal photos of the train station that I enjoyed despite being unnerved.,
When I got home (around 10 pm) I had an interview zoom call. I had not been alerted about it because of issues with my email and being in a different country/time zone until I was texted. Luckily I wasn’t late to the interview but I was very tired and still undergoing withdrawal. I didn’t do great on the interview (spoiler: i didn’t get the position) but I honestly think it may be for the best. I texted thank you to the directors after being rejected a few days later and was annoyed one didn’t respond despite us being friends.

Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe’s E-Ticket Organ
Most people don’t think of Central Florida as a place of basilicas. They generally think of Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, and other “fun” attractions. The last place most Catholic Guests under 18 would want to go is a Catholic church on Sunday in the middle of their vacations.
And make that a Catholic church with some of the well-crafted stained glass around, a choir wholly comprised of pro singers (mostly members and alumni of Voices of Liberty at Epcot), and the Schoenstein Opus 175 pipe organ that not only shakes the room, but makes its worshipers pack the sanctuary's eaves each Sunday with its varicolored, symphonic sounds.
Tumblr media
Taken 4/15/2023.
As a prominent and well-known example of Catholic places of worship in Orlando, the Basilica of The National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe is a mission church as opposed to a parish church, the latter type where weddings and funerals are held. (One of the only funerals held at MQUS was for its founding rector, Monsignor Joseph Harte, in 2020, the first time it opened to the public after months of the lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic.)
In fact, it’s a church for the tourists, school groups, and business convention-goers who descend upon and the employees who work in Orlando.
For many general tourists, the purpose for going to the City Beautiful is to take a photo in front of a certain castle, right? For a lot of Catholic tourists, they need a place to observe Mass amid castles, coasters, and cartoon characters while doing so. MQUS does just that, alongside nearby churches.
Tumblr media
Taken 4/15/2023.
Before the shrine was erected in 1993, Msgr. Harte started his Catholic ministry Mass on Wheels. He wanted the then 8 million estimated Catholics a place to worship and give gratitude to God through the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Thus he and his clerical team hosted Masses in hotel ballrooms and banquet halls, including the Luau Cove at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World. But that posed problems – Msgr. Harte sometimes found himself preaching in the barrooms! He really needed a permanent place for tourists to stop and observe Mass.
While praying on a trip to Lourdes, France, in 1977, God provided Msgr. Harte with a viable solution. And not without the intercession of St. Mary, who appeared there in 1858. It came to a head in 1979 when he purchased a tract – a swamp near SeaWorld – for the shrine. 5 years later, groundbreaking began for the Mother and Child Chapel and it was completed two years later.
The main church - a neo-Romanesque Revival, 2000-seat edifice, opened on January 31, 1993 and then dedicated on August 22 of that year, with a Vatican official (Pio Cardinal Laghi) attending.
On a personal note, one of my 3 wishes I made at age 7, when I first set foot in this 2000-odd-seat sanctuary one Christmas Eve in 1996, was for a pipe organ.
Tumblr media
Taken 4/15/2023.
3 years later, my dream was set to come true. Msgr. Harte wrote, “As we make progress with the development of this Shrine in honor of the Mother of God, the time has come to consider the installation of a pipe organ, an instrument that will, for generations to come, lend inspiration and encouragement to our Liturgical celebrations.”
Or so – as the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and other priorities attested – they thought.
For over 25 years of the minor basilica’s existence – and even when it was designated as such in 2009, the youngest one to receive the designation in the US at the time – a rented digital organ, mostly built by the Allen Organ Co. (Dunne Music supplied them as its dealer) accompanied Masses.
That motioned the music ministry to conduct a fundraising campaign in 2015, the Campaign for Sacred Music. In 2 years, enough money was raised for construction of a pipe organ, and they announced Christmas 2017 that the Schoenstein & Co Organbuilders would build their “dream machine,” their Op. 175.
Tumblr media
Taken 4/15/2013.
The tonal design of the organ was intended to be greater than even the Cathedral of St. James’s Wicks, with 8 diapason ranks (sets of pipes) in the major divisions and many 8′ string, flute, and chorus and solo reed ones. Though they and the percussion stops not normally found in Catholic pipe organs seem excessive to Guests used to their 3-manual Organ Reform Movement machines (and I do respect, pray for, and acknowledge them), the smorgasbord of timbres provide a wider spectrum of organ repertoire and accompanimental possibilities.
“Many organs do not even have the wherewithal to accompany congregational singing, which requires an especially strong and prompt-speaking pedal bass to maintain tempo, and a dominant 8' line to lead melody,” Jack Bethards, tonal director of Schoenstein, explained.
“Most organs fail to deliver the most thrilling choir accompaniment effect the organ has to offer: that of full diapason and reed choruses under perfect dynamic control to match the level of any ensemble. Service playing often requires certain special effects as well, such as the heroic Solo Tuba, the whisper-soft céleste, and quiet 32' tone.”
“These effects are not strictly necessary on an organ dedicated to solo repertoire, but they are vital in church work. Musical scope is also important in church work because the organ must maintain the interest of musicians, clergy and parishioners week after week and year after year.”
As mentioned, the wide range of 8′ string, diapason, flute, and chorus and solo reed stops in the MQUS’s Schoenstein Op. 175 allows the organists to play all works of the organ repertoire as well as transcriptions.
“The need for expressive flexibility in accompaniment is perhaps the most important argument in favor of the symphonic organ, but there are others as well that apply in both sacred and secular venues,” Bethards further elaborated.
“As a portrayer of the organ solo repertoire, the symphonic organ is obviously far more versatile than the repertoire-specific instrument. It is easier to fit pre-Romantic repertoire to the symphonic organ than it is to fit Romantic and Modern repertoire to the Classical or Baroque organ."
“With performers free to select (orchestral) music which translates best to the organ, transcriptions can be presented as an art-form in their own right. There are two good reasons to do this. First, hearing familiar music in a different medium is often enlightening. Sometimes aspects of the music are made more clear and benefit from a greater range of expression.”
“Second, the organ, being under the control of one artist, can often render a more convincing performance than can an orchestra. There are many pieces that I, for one, would prefer to hear in transcription.”
The Schoenstein Op. 175 was completed and blessed November 2019. It wasn’t - due to the pandemic - formally dedicated until 2022, with a recital by Peter Richard Conte.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first photo shows how the front of the sanctuary at MQUS looked until the installation of Schoenstein Op. 175. Revisiting it while spending 3 days at Universal Orlando (and attending Mass in the process), I was thankful that one of my three wishes I made when I set foot and prayed in it at age 7 on Christmas Eve 1996 came true - and sounded as GLORIOUS as it looked. First photo taken 1/1/2014 and second photo taken 4/15/2023.
Coupled with a choir that selects members by audition, the various timbres of Florida’s very first Schoenstein organ plus – as the Musicam Sacram from the Second Vatican Council (VI, 62) has it – on its purpose as something “to be held in high esteem in the Latin Church, since it is its traditional instrument, the sound of which can add a wonderful splendor to the Church’s ceremonies and powerfully lift up men’s minds to God and higher things.”
Indeed, the Schoenstein organ made MQUS an E-Ticket attraction. For the Disney-illiterate, the designation is rooted from attractions, often big-name ones, listed in the E category when ticket books at Disney were issued at the time Msgr. Harte bought the land for the current church in 1979.
For all you organophiliacs, feel free to have a gander at the specs via The American Organist. Oh, and don't be alarmed by the inclusion of the Tibia Clausa in the Solo - after all, Robert Hope-Jones first used the flute pipes for churches before he made them into theater organ foundational tones.

ALMOST MY BIRTHDAY. This photo was taken by my momma during our Royal Caribbean cruise on our second night after dinner. So, I might not get a decent birthday photo as I will be having the time of my life at Universal Studios Orlando Resort; Islands of Adventure and at Halloween Horror Nights. If you’re a fan of the BOOK OR MORMON, the lead’s name is KEVIN and he wants to be sent to serve in his favorite place in the world which is in ORLANDO. So, I’m kind of feeling very this character right now being here and everything. “But I pray I'm sent to my favorite place, Orlando. Orlando, I love you, Orlando. Seaworld and Disney, and putt-putt golfing.” 🎶 — 𝙀𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙆𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘯 I’m heading to Seaworld’s Howl-O-Scream nao cos it’s near my aunt’s house. I don’t think I can Disney cos I haven’t booked anything really since I was only rooting to do Horror Nights but we’ll see. Thank you to everyone in my life who have made it colorful, exciting and fun in the last 32 years, cheers to 33.
