NEXT GEN DINOBOTS!

I’ve finally got around to making Dinobots sparkling Ocs, and after several redesigns I’m really happy with these!

They do exist in my lost light au btw! When Tailgate and Cyclonus experimented with making Gale without an hotspot. So Grimlock Asked(more like demand) Brainstorm to somehow find a way to make more dinobots without a hotspot as well as without having a partner.

So Brainstorm after watching some of swerve’s earth movies got the bright idea to create an Dinobot from an egg somehow, with the help of Grimlocks dna of course. AND IT WORKED! (Sorta) Bam was created then after few hundred years later so was Spittake and so forth.

Bam The Brontosaurus : Bam is the eldest at 400+ years old! (In my au Sparklings age like normal humans then after age 18 their body starts aging like a normal cybertonian) she is very kind and patient with her siblings and can come across very motherly. She often helps Grimlock “tame” the kids when things go south.

Though Bam is a Dinobot she doesn’t talk in 3rd person like Grimlock most of the time. This is probably due to the fact that she grew up around other cybertonians like her good friend Gale. She is also very smart as well, some tease she should be Queen of the Dinos some day!

Spittake The Dilophosaurus: He is the second oldest at age 12, and he honestly lives up to his name. He’s definitely a kind of shit disturber and hates when things are to “peaceful” in the Habsuite. Most of the chaotic things happening on the ship are usually caused by him, especially when he creates his artwork on the walls of the ship.

Spittake is able to use the colorful tar that constantly comes from his body and use it to create art! Though pretty on the surface, if it leaks into your optics or any kind of pores it can create very strong hallucinations. Victims of this have been Magnus, Grimlock, trailcutter and Prowl. All on accident of course!

Spittake may seem like a troublesome mech king but he’s actually a sweetheart who would do anything for his friends and family! He’s mostly seen make arts and crafts with Gala and Ten.

Hit The Raptor: she is the second youngest at 4 years old, The only way I can describe Hit perfectly is that she’s kind of a mix between Amy rose from sonic and Angelica from rugrats if that makes any sense? She definitely bratty and usually gets what she wants most of the time. She’s also a huge daddy’s girl, so whenever Spittake or some bots mean to her she’ll always run to Grimlock.

Hits a girly girl despite her tomboyish behavior sometimes. Her favorite color is pink and she always wants to play dress up with someone. Also Gala is her best friend so don’t be mean to her either unless you wanna see her true wrath.

Crash The Spinosaurus: crash is the youngest at 3 years old, there is much to say about him yet but that he feels more comfortable in his alt form instead. All of the next Gen dinobots stayed in their alt forms as Sparklings but Crash is taking a bit more time than usual.

He’s a very energetic and happy sparkling, even though he can’t say full words. He has a bad habit with biting things and bots occasionally, but it’s just his form of teething. Also he likes Gala…a lot! ;)

When you’re 27 and you’re heavy into nostalgia, but it seems most the people in online nostalgia spaces are like 25 and under, and being born on the cusp of millennial and gen Z has created such a bizarre divide between us all that i find i relate to people who are 30 more than i relate to people who are 24…

and all you guys want to talk about is littlest pet shop and webkins but i was born in 1995 and was slightly too old for that stuff by the time it was popular. i’m old enough to remember seeing the first rugrats movie in theatres and it really freaks me out when y’all say you were five when you saw the second rugrats movie i dunno man!

i don’t exactly know how to articulate what i’m trying to say

it’s like, yeah, i did grow up around littlest pet shop cuz my best friend’s sister who was two or three years younger than us played with them but i was already losing my playing-with-dolls imagination by the time they were popular

you hear what im saying? i want to relate and indulge in nostalgia core but every deep dive or retrospective i find is written from the perspective of someone 1-4 years younger than me, which imo makes an impact because our generation was marked by the advancement of technology and things, like the world moved so quickly that even being born a year apart from someone, if you were born on the cusp of millennial and gen z, you might not relate to someone who is literally a year or two older or younger than you

am i making any sense?

i watched pokémon when it was first airing in the US. i was old enough to own a gameboy color. but the kids born one year after me probably got a gameboy advance as their first handheld console

does this make sense???

i’m not saying one is better than the other or that anyone is right or wrong. but i find nostalgia spaces to be so interesting for our age group because it was such a weird time period to grow up in

I’m so glad late 00′s/early 10′s nostalgia is slowly becoming the prominent childhood era to post about on here and that the ‘90′s kids claiming dominance over the world’ craze from last decade is finally over

Because for the past 10 years all we gen zillennials have been getting is “uGHh I wiSH iT wEre 20O5 AGaiNNN Dx” while meanwhile we’re all sitting here with our dicks in our hands bc in 2005 we still looked like fucking cabbage patch kids with a total of four (4) memories from 2000-2006

We’re such a weird sub-generation bc our earlier memories are from a post-90s wasteland- the 90s part 2: electric bugaloo- then that merges into modern day era. Like, the same year the iphone came out, I was still taught what a floppy disc was in elementary school. We were still running on dial up and Windows 98 the first time I used a computer, Rugrats and Hey Arnold and The Powerpuff Girls and all other fads from the 90s were still being shown on TV- and we were still getting their merch, too. We owned more VHS tapes than DVDs and knew (and still know) how to work a VCR. We had (and STILL have) wall phones. We had encyclopedias. We had Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. We had it all, too. Not only that, all our families’ cars were still from the 80s or 90s. Keep in mind, this was still 2004-2007!

At the same time, though, we were being filled up with Dora, Wow Wow Wubbzy, Chowder, Spongebob etc, and people were getting Wii’s and flat screens. Smart phones were on the rise. We grew with technology. There's not really a set 'era' or aesthetic to our childhood, because we were caught between two different eras.

Then starting in about 2011 you had the influx of false superioriy claiming all "90s" things I just listed above only belonged to that decade as if everything made in the 90s ceased to exist the second Y2K happened. And god forbid during this 90's kids bragging era you stood up and said you're a 00's kid who grew up on the same stuff they did, then you'd get shot on fucking sight.

The kids from ‘99-’04 are a real half-in half-out generation; half 90′s, half early 00′s. Not even that, but we’re more like half mid-century, half early 00′s. Just think of it as all the residue from the past century getting washed up into our childhood. I played my mom’s board games from the 70′s, I wore all my cousin’s hand-me-downs from the 80s/90s, one of my favorite things to play with as a toddler was a toy set from 1988, yet I also had a DS Lite growing up. I think the embodiment of this hybrid phantom generation is the DVD/VCR player itself.

We're like the modern steampunk generation- half future, half past. We're both millennials and gen z, yet we're also neither of those. We're 90s babies part 2, 80s babies part 3, pre-gen z. We're the children without a generation, and we're FINALLY starting to be old enough for people to take us SERIOUSLY.

And my GOD, I have been waiting for this for a very, very long time.

Sam is given a writing assignment in English class which leads him to make unsettling discoveries about his family. fanfiction.net/s/4590890 my thoughts:This fic features one of the coolest, most responsible, loving and yet still bamf Deans I’ve ever read... and it’s all because Sam’s learning about it now, bc he’s at an age where he can finally recognize the significance of what Dean’s done for him and John. This isn’t a ‘woe-as-Dean’ story though because Dean is content and Sam remains a sweetheart to his brother and a lovely narrator (along with a couple other insightful OC Outsider POVs) throughout.

Nobody's Home by Menthol Pixie, genfic, 3k, Teen. Summary: All he knows is that he has to get away. (Cursed/amnesiac!Sam) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11886629 My thoughts: great chaotic hurt in the first chapter, second chapter comfort is so sweet with Sam in bed lying on Dean's leg while Dean works with his hair & John's treating Sam's arms.

Summary: Assumptions and labels can be incredibly incorrect when you don't truly know a person; that is a lesson a teacher learns when she crosses paths with Dean Winchester and his little brother Sammy. Summary: Sam's childhood centered around his big brother and despite how hard John tried - it was inevitable that the truth about his role as a father would one day come to light. "Are you sure you know how many sons you have?" fanfiction.net/s/9460943 my thoughts: If I recall correctly, this story is more about how Sam prefers Dean over their father. Since John was so absent and withheld approval, Sam pivoted and sought love and approval from Dean, which Dean received and gave back freely because he loved Sam so much too. It’s shmoop that kinda shames John like “you missed out on this lovefest, dude,” haha. I loved it.

Someone to Mark the Milestones by RobotRollCall (FFnet). Rated G, Gen, 1k words. Summary: Bobby never wanted kids to begin with, and he was never going to admit to anyone that watching a preschooler trying to get a toddler to walk across his kitchen floor was turning out to be one of the high points of his life. Those rugrats of John's were growing on him. (Wee-chester fluff). fanfiction.net/s/10887299 my thoughts: Otherwise known as “when you’re feeling sentimental, baby Dean taking care of a baby Sam will mist your eyes.” Hahah. This was a great one-shot.

The Color Pink by Phx (FFnet). Rated PG, Gen, 5k words. Summary: Dean thought the prank was pretty funny until he went to pick Sam up after school. Two Shot. fanfiction.net/s/5081499 my thoughts: I’m not always the biggest fan of Dean doing mean or callous things to Sam and ending up as guilty!comforting!Dean, but this fic had a message to it that I really appreciated. Dean made up for his mistake in a way that made him a better person (and modeled great behavior for Sam) overall so, yeah, loved this little story!

Parenting Your Gifted Child by bhoney (FFnet). Rated PG-13, Gen, 4k words. Summary: When Sam and Dean re-visit their dad's storage container, Sam makes an unexpected discovery. Set early season 3. fanfiction.net/s/4619135 my thoughts: This fic was such a charming headcanon insight for both Sam and Dean. Sam that he was noticeably smart af when he was young and Dean, also noticeably smart af to recognize it and seek after answers in a book like this (the fic’s title is the name of the book Dean consulted re: how to help Sam when they were kids).

What Moms Do by Ridley C. James (FFnet). Rated PG, Gen, 4k words. Summary: Sam has a crisis in school, and Dean does what any big brother would, he comes to the rescue. fanfiction.net/s/2940014 my thoughts: An outsider POV (and just added to my outsider pov reclist), this fic is so pure, haha. It basically covers how all the things that, traditionally, moms do, are things that still get done for Sam even though he doesn’t have his mom. Cue ‘awww’ because that’s exactly what you’re gonna utter unconsciously while reading this fic.

RaBB verse: Nightmares and Names by authoressnebula (FFnet). Rated PG-13, Gen, 2k words. Summary: Dean's 13, Sam's 9. Set in the 'verse, but CAN be read as a stand alone: Dean's tired of Sam bugging him at night with his nightmares, but when he gets what he wants, he's not so sure he wants it. fanfiction.net/s/4145106 my thoughts: RaBB stands for ‘Raising a Big Brother’ and it’s a fantastic kidfic verse that follows Dean’s development in becoming the awesome big brother we all know and love. This story in particular kinda stuck with me because it was just so sweet and cuddly.

Fifteen by DangerousDiamondDarling (FFnet). Rated R, Gen, 1k. Summary: Sam's thoughts one night at the age of fifteen and why he still needs his brother. M for some bad words. Just brotherly love, no slash. One of two on how Sam still needs Dean to hold him and tell him everything will be alright. Sam POV. fanfiction.net/s/3615062 my thoughts: This fic is only rated R because Sam’s inner monologue uses the f bomb all the time which is completely in accordance with many teens, ha. This is one of the best little angsty teenage meltdowns-slash-panic-attacks I’ve ever read as the hurt, and Dean’s the best return ‘comfort’ in the woooorld.

It Sounded Like the Truth by Weesta. Rated PG-13, Gen, 2k words. Summary: Dean is on a supply run and a sick Sam is alone when someone breaks into their motel room. fanfiction.net/s/8859455/ my thoughts: I read this fic years ago and it still sticks with me as such a scarily realistic snapshot of Sam and Dean trying to just deal with sketchy motels and addled-junkie neighborhoods. Also there’s brother cuddles at the end 😁 Also just FYI this author is on AO3 at ao3.org/users/weesta but these fics haven’t been x-posted; they’re only available on FFnet afaik rn. This fic’s been included in my rape recovery reclist. There is no rape in this fic at all but Dean thinks sexual assault happened in this fic and like, it very well could’ve, and that’s why it was a “scarily realistic snapshot” for me

I can’t remember my LAST dream that well, but the one i do remember, I was a long lost rugrat that had to figure out why two alternate timelines were overlapping- signified by a high school club in which the older students of one timeline are with their juniors from another timeline- which are the older ones of the reverse there. As a rugrat I found some monster that tries to destroy time itself, and I ended up getting pulled into what is basically a bright, teal ocean with white film reels- time itself from my understanding- And I had fought my way to my 4th grade classroom where I had a test I didn’t study for, I didn’t have a pencil, also I was now naked. I was having an anxiety attack and suddenly Helga and Penny from Hey Arnold and Aqua and Megumin from Konosuba tried to bust me out. Also the classroom was in my house. I had enough of this after opening a door and seeing that we were flying in the air over a city and basically offed myself to wake up.

13. What talents do you have?

absolutely nothing other than situational specific rap skills, mediocre doodling and writing, and my hand pops on command by itself. Also I can roll my R’s.

14. Are you psychic in any way?

Kind of. I used to have “visions” so to speak of things that in no way are helpful whatsoever. It was like 2 seconds of a scene, a vague understanding of the situation, and a glimpse of my outfit. There’s no way to know when this will occur or how far in advance. Once I had a vision that I was riding to a buddy ball game in my mom’s durango and i was wearing a green t-shirt, and it happened a month later. Once I had a vision that I was sitting in a chair with my dog overreacting to something on tv and knew it was Pokemon related. The next day it was Gen 7′s Pokemon reveal. It’s never anything helpful. I do know when my luck will be bad, however.

Technically. My sister and I are named after a state and a city. Mom simply thought that it was like a Western motif, but Dad apparently named me after a family friend of his that died around the time I was born. My middle name is my grandfather’s name, too. Basically I’m a walking obituary.

that one pacific fic i mentioned

short untitled character study/gen fic type thing about snafu as a replacement on cape gloucester, as well as his early friendships with burgie and jay and the development of his methods for dealing with nervous fellow marines. warning for period-accurate racial slur. @webgottrash and @aces-low, heads up since you expressed particular interest!

Cape Gloucester is more of a nightmare awake than asleep, at least when Snafu can tell the difference between the two. He blinks and still sees pitch darkness when he opens his eyes, darker than even the night of a new moon over the bayou, then flinches as a flash of lightning affords him a few precious seconds of vision. In that time, he must kill everything that moves.

He thought he’d feel some sort of impact when he killed his first man, like a heavy stone dropping into his gut, but he hardly has time to mark the first before the second falls beside that one, then the third, then the fourth. They run at him in ceaseless waves and he thinks, wildly, don’t they care? Don’t they have any love for their lives at all? Don’t they have anyone who will miss them?

One of the Guadalcanal veterans, a man with curly hair a bit like his, tells him about kamikaze pilots and how intensely the Japanese believe in death before dishonour and seppuku and the emperor as a child of the gods. Then he says not to think of the people he’s here to slaughter en masse in such human terms.

The suggestion is easy enough to follow. And besides, he has no great love for his life, and doesn’t have anyone who’ll miss him, either.

Burgie (given names Romus Valton, and Snafu thought he was hurting with the name Merriell) is better at compartmentalizing all of their experiences than Snafu, while Jay (last name De L’Eau, and nearly startled out of his skin when Snafu demands to know if it’s him who brought all this rain when he hears it) is worse. Neither comes as much of a surprise to Snafu, because Burgie was as confident and charming in Melbourne as Jay was shy and antsy, which gave him a pretty good idea of their personalities at base level; Burgie also gave him his new moniker after he made a particularly bad joke about Australian money coming in pounds and ounces, which told him that while Burgie has a very low bar for weird, he also takes things that fly well above it in good-natured stride.

Jay thinks too much. He obsesses over every worrying thought that comes into his head until he’s acting and talking like it’s completely real. For days after the initial suicide attack, he’s forever pulling Snafu aside to whisper about how the Japs have probably been following all this time, peering at them through the waxy green leaves and fronds, and are only lulling them into a false sense of security before swarming them in numbers they can’t even begin to imagine. His eyes are massive when he says it, his hands clenched tight around Snafu’s forearm.

“Fuck’s sake, Jay,” Snafu finally drawls when he’s heard about enough, “how secure we gotta fuckin’ be before they pounce, ‘cause right now I’m about ready to settle down and buy a house with ‘em, maybe have a couple rugrats together, I’m so goddamn secure.”

Jay still looks deeply hurt when Burgie comes to collect them after a few moments of awkward silence, but his expression has shifted to chastised by the time they get back on the move, and at least somewhat in his right mind an hour or two later. Snafu thinks he dealt with it the right way.

“You gotta be more gentle with him,” Burgie says later, when the two of them are huddled in their tent and glaring out at the rain, equally unable to fall asleep. “Firm, but gentle.”

“Don’t tell me that li’l shit snitched on me.”

“I won’t, ‘cause he didn’t. I overheard y’all talkin’.”

Sometimes Burgie gets the kind of look on his face that Snafu’s always seen on his eldest brothers when they come home to visit and get a good dose of him: half disapproving and half despairing, like they can’t condone the existence of someone like him, but they also aren’t about to blame anyone for how he turned out because he seems like such an unstoppable force of nature. He swings between proud and furious every time he endures it from them, but when Burgie looks at him that way, he just feels guilty right to the tips of his toes.

“The kid’s drivin’ himself off the fuckin’ deep end, Burgie,” Snafu says, more sullenly than he’d like given that he’s trying to defend himself. “Can’t coddle that shit, we gotta snap him out of it.”

“Ain’t you ever heard of tough love?” Burgie asks with a winning smile, almost too bright for its murky surroundings.

“Sure,” Snafu says with a smirk to counter that smile, “just don’t believe in it.”

“What’s there to not believe in ‘bout it?”

Love, Snafu thinks, but he just lies back down and closes his eyes instead of answering aloud. Behind his eyelids, the darkness is less complete than when his eyes were open.
