Okay so im gonna just throw randomly my thoughts on sm6 while rewatching it cuz why not, I was doing the same thing for hazbin hotel so why not spooky month too?

So yeah, SPOOKY MONTH 6 SPOILERS WARNING‼️

Ok im just gonna say: that starting scene with thieves was kinda funny. Also rewatching it, im starting to suspect that this giant spider thing in Lilas attic have her husbands soul, IDK WHY, I JUST FEEL LIKE IT, it just looks so important, it even appeared twice in the ep: in the begining n in the end.

Also ARE WE JUST GONNA IGNORE HOW JAUNE CALLED LILA "HOT STUFF"??? WHILE HAVING A HUSBAND?????? A HUSBAND THAT SITTING NEARBY HER WHEN SHE SAYING THAT???????? ARE THEY IN A POLY RELATIONSHIPS HOLY FUCKING SHIT????????????? IM EVEN MORE INTRIGED NOW

Okay so Skid does know and remember his dad, I just was thinking that his father left/died when Skid still wasnt born or when he was very little so Skid doesnt even know that he had a father, but no he does remember his dad, so that means he presented for quite long time in Skids life.

Also im really suprised how big Pumps house is, well i mean— he said that his parents work alot so ig i shouldnt be suprised-

Yes, she is an alone mother, but it doesnt give her permission to just leave her child to himself n his friend n go drink n then spent time w her child drunk. Yeah i know, that she leaves him to mr Wonder n Susie, but lets be honest, were here even a single time when the kids didnt just leave the house n cause problem? No. So i think the Fathers words are make perfect sense, n Lila should think bout it. Also a lil thing i just thought bout, why would Lila throw away her husbands stuff? If he actually died why would she do this? Or hes not dead n he just left for some reason? Idk

just watched the new spooky month episode and. wow. i'm so normal (lie) i cannot wait for the next episode aaaaaaaaaaa

ahem. anyways. the part with the priest asking where skid's father was and skid looking so crestfallen and the part with pump asking "but if they love me, then why're they never here?" had me bawling /lh waaaaa skid and pump are so sweet, they don't deserve to feel so sad 😭😭😭😭 ANYWAYS. I AM EXCEEDINGLY NORMAL ABOUT KEVIN AND I'M SO HAPPY THAT HE GETS AN ACTUAL FRIEND TO WORK WITH. admittedly i kinda wish we got to know more concretely whether streber is actually dead or not, but i completely understand putting it off to build suspense. that's literally my only criticism of the episode rn lmao and even then it's more of a personal curiosity thing than something i actually have against the episode

10/10 episode: much like every other spooky month episode i've had the pleasure of seeing as it came out instead of years afterwards, it has permanently changed my brain chemistry 🔥 guys if you're spooky month fans pleaseee go watch the episode. and if you have no idea what this show is, go check it out, it's completely free to watch on youtube!!! it starts off very shitpost-y, but quickly gets very dark (while still keeping the humor that made the first 2 entries special!! Spoky Month evolves more and more with each episode, but never loses its roots, which is something I really enjoy).

In your post about D20's up-its-own-ass syndrome you didn't say anything about Mentopolis, do you have any relevant thoughts about that?

It's fucking great and very underappreciated! Everyone go watch Mentopolis. I actually in my earlier drafts briefly mentioned Mentopolis and Dungeons and Drag Queens (which was ironically enough just good old fashioned classic D&D) as some recent D20 content that I've liked, but ultimately cut it for length. I posted a little about it at the time if you want to dig into my archives but basically the TTRPG system was a great fit, the production values enhanced the vibes, it didn't take itself too seriously and while my knowledge of neuroscience is far weaker I did take a few courses in it and nothing stood out enough to make me go "this feels incorrect in a way that takes me out of the story." The cast is great - I wasn't really familiar personally with Freddie Wong and Alex Song-Xia and both knocked it out of the park, I love Siobhan, Trapp, and Danielle Radford's prior D20 stuff and this was some of their best, and as someone who was broadly familiar with Hank Green but never deep into the vlogbrothers scene he was a standout.

I think D20 does best when they don't like, actually fuck around with genre so much as do a straight genre in an unexpected setting. Like, A Crown of Candy is straight-up Game of Thrones-esque high medieval low-magic political fantasy, it's just in a world where everything is food. ACOFAF is an Austen pastiche but in the Feywild. So "Noir, but inside of a guy's brain a la Inside Out" while echoing the noir themes and plot outside of it sounds pretentious but is actually weirdly straightforward if you think about it. Anyway. It's good. If you are looking for a solid D20 sidequest and you haven't seen it, go watch it.

IT'S-A SPOOKY MONTH SPECULATION TIME GUYS!!!

Okay, so after Episode 6, I was like "Wow, they sure want us to remember what happens in past episodes, this one was full of callbacks and other things", and uh...

I'm really hoping this is just a silly reference to some oher media, because if it isn't, then OHHHH BOY THESE KIDS ARE IN TROUBLE.

HEADS UP FOR MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR, WELL, PRETTY MUCH THE ENTIRE SERIES SO FAR (EPISODES 1-6)

Also, I'm noticing that ever since like, Episode 3, this spider and that mannequin have just been chilling in the attic. Interested to see their involvement in the next episode, which I assume is what's being built up to...

Side Note: In Episode 1, you can see the mannequin move to the right a bit, I suppose hinting to the spider? I also believe in Episode 3 after Bob knocks down the mannequin, the spider's the one that puts it back up.

Might I also mention that most side-appearing characters (Or in the previous case, items or even creatures/animals) usually end up coming back in later episodes or having some importance, good examples being Father Gregor and Ignacio. So, what about the Happy Fella dude?

What about people like Frank? I mean, he's got a similar role as Kevin (and now Radford) as a side character who has a simple, singular appearance, but it's clear from Kevin and other characters that people like him can always return with more importance than they usually seem to have. This ALSO applies to:

The "Hobomen" who already seem to be getting importance due to The Mayor asking them to destroy a building,

Rick. Just...Because he's Rick.

I mean, if Radford ended up joining Kevin on his wacky adventures, then who knows what Rick could end up getting into?

This poor child who keeps getting fricked over by literally everyone and everything around him,

Even this actor guy who APPARENTLY WAS IN EPISODE 1!? WHAT!? I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT UNTIL LOOKING BACK, WHAT THE-

You see? It's stuff like this that makes me feel like these characters can always return without you even realizing! And that's just SO COOL to me!

I'm just now realizing this, but the eyes in that bucket aren't Dexter's (mistook them for his because they have the same pupils), it's the Happy Fella that uh...Y'know... Went splat.

Also, it seems like, if it's not a one-off joke or gag, that ghosts and undead monsters do in fact exist, and well, we've seen a certain demon friend of ours come back from the dead... (Multiple times)

Also, the Happy Fella had to be cooked TWICE, and even after THAT, its eyes still move, soooooo....

So who knows? Maybe one of our deceased friends will come back from the dead! Perhaps Dexter and/or his grandma? Who knows?

Finally, I want to point out Pump's eyes. After encountering The Eyes, Pump's pupils seem to change cyan ALMOST everytime he and Skid encounter a demonic entity, exceptions being Bob and the Happy Fella. Most of the time, his eyes change when around Moloch, and this might actually be exclusive to Moloch. I'm not exactly sure...

Both Father Gregor and Bob have these eyes as well! Bob gets them after seemingly returning from the dead when shot in the chest, and Gregor gets them after his encounter with The Eyes, similar to Pump. I suppose this is supposed to show their connections to The Eyes and other demonic entities? So...Why didn't Pump's eyes glow AT ALL when around Bob? Even when HIS eyes turned blue? Why does Moloch trigger Pump's eyes to change but other entities don't?

I don't know! I'm just pointing it out, really. I ran out of speculation juice a WHILE ago, and I just wanted to point out these little details. Sorry!

I really, really wish to share my dumb opinions on SM characters. So… Um..

Here ya’ go. I’m gonna add more characters as I think of them but right now I have Skid, Pump, Ethan, and Streber.

Skid: I think he draws a lot, usually the kind of stuff that’d make a teacher go ‘umm! time to call CPS!’. I imagine that he draws a lot of things related to what he sees around town. Eyes, the clown, Frank, etc., Which- a teacher would immediately report if they saw a kid drawing some weird guy in a white van offering them candy. (I mean, they’d probably report drawings of Eyes as well. Also this is even if he is in school/isn’t homeschooled.) I think he wants to be a mortician when he’s older, especially after Hollow Sorrows.

Ethan: OKAY, none of you are gonna agree with me here but I do not care. I feel like Ethan is probably socially insecure. They probably overthinks everything they say and avoids going and hanging out in public. Like, I imagine that someone will invite they out and they just comes up with ‘oh.. I’m busy that day.’ despite really wanting to go (and being free). Also, Trans. Trans. Trans Ethan. Their intersex, poisonjabs told me (they didn’t but shhh). They really like space and astronomy. I don’t think they’re talkative about it, more-so that IF they go hangout it will end in going into the woods to look at the sky. They probably also play guitar because, of course they do. For a job, they work on customizing old kids toys. They don’t do OOAK dolls, but they do stuff like this YouTuber. I think they have a lot of stuffed animals, most of them being goats. Also, asexual Ethan. Desperately tries to help Streber feel better after Halloween, but they suck at comforting.

Pump: Weird HC, but I think he speaks Italian. Where’d he learn Italian? No clue. He just knows. (I’m kidding, Susie takes Italian classes in school and teaches him bits and pieces. Mostly insults.) He loves going camping entirely because he’s allowed to make a fire, once it starts he is glued to it. His favorite food is popcorn and onetime he asked Radford if he could eat his hair because it looked yummy. He draws with Skid, although he mostly just throws pretty colors onto the paper and calls it a day. When he’s older, I feel like he’d be an horror author. But right now he wants to be like Kevin. (Funnily enough, I also HC that Kevin enjoys writing.)

Streber: It’s like, really fucking sad. Or— more angry, than sad. Even before it lost its arm, he was going through it but tried to hide it. It tried to do the haunted house because, ‘it loves Halloween! Maybe this’ll finally make it happy?’ But it didn’t go as planned, and now he lost an arm. He probably stays inside all the time now, only leaving when friends (Ethan) make him leave because he’s just been rotting away in bed. He and Kev never liked each-other until post Tender Treats. Streber used to work backstage for the drama club, not because he didn’t like acting but because it liked working on things. It really, really wants to visit Rhode Island and see Mercy Brown’s grave (as well as the other Rhode Island vampires, but mostly Mercy Brown). The haunted house was part of a college fundraiser, it just volunteered to lead it and made friends join. Once it does graduate college I can imagine it going into some kind of engineering career and doing small programming gigs for extra cash. Streber is chubby, you. You can see it in Tender Treats. He’s drawn differently than say, Lila or Kev. Obviously it likes vampires, but I feel like thats a bi-product of it really liking history and learning about the Rhode Island vampires and now has an obsession with historical vampires.

Jesus christ, this is long. I’m not re-reading any of this because I’m tired, so, enjoy this. I want to go more in-depth on how characters interact but I may do that on another post because of how long Streber’s got.

Marco still thinks to this day his parents did nothing wrong with just leaving him to take care of his siblings since he was basically 7 since they were working a lot in his life and being very absent. He always will make up a excuse for this too. With that being said he never really had a childhood. so like hes very out of touch with games and silly things people usually did as kids and thats why hes sorta a gremlin now His boss issss very verbally abusive and comparing him to other old workers saying how lucky marco has this job and a tad bit of racist shit. thats why marco compares himself to others (yk how he was comparing himself to carmen and richard? Basically imagine that but with everyone) Also has anger issues because of that fucker!! But also knows how to bite his tongue pretty well Always has something of value that reminds him of his friends. Like the ring he has reminds him of streber, the bracelet? radford, the bowtie? kevin, He will always have something to remind himself about others Actually good at saving money.. like a fuck ton. It just his boss barely fucking pays him. Almost died 2 times :D Very kind and respectful to kids and tries to be there for them as a way to cope with how he was raised //does not know this. he thinks he just doing the right thing Theres a reason why he tries to act ok all the time! Its because it sorta is what he raised himself to know. Mention threatening about the kids or his close friends and either 1) he will sucker punch you or 2) depending on what you say he will just break down.

as a autistic guy he hates loud noises. Legit he will run out of the room if he can It's the one thing that messes with him the most. He sorta has a hard time believing someone likes him since all his past partners were douches except like.. one. He will never tell Kevin about this but he does get doubts sometimes and thinks he just saying/acting similar to him because he wants his guard down //SWEETHEART HE LOVES YOU YOU TWO ARE PERFECT uhhh yeah here some random stuff :3

"Check in"

It was another of those late nights. The nights where Rick just lied in bed...awake. Just staring at that white, now very darkish grey looking, ceiling. The bed was comfortable, but no amount of pillows or soft blankets could ever erase his thoughts.

His thoughts? Yeah...thoughts of why am I even here? or should I stay alive if I serve zero purpose?. Those thoughts were consistent, like a weed in a beautiful garden. And no matter how hard Rick tried and tried to get rid of those thoughts...nothing helped.

He sat up...and was considering. Considering everything that came to this point...

Just then...his phone rang. He looked over...Radford was calling him....Eh, why not say goodbye to him, thats what Radford at least deserved.

Rick picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

Rick heard Radford's excited and nerdy voice coming from the other side of the phone.

"Yo! Rick! Sorry if I woke you up this late, but guess what!"

Rick sighed. He felt bad he was gonna leave such a sweet guy behind...at least it'll be the last person and he was okay with that.

"What?"

"I ended up getting and saving enough and...I want you to go to The Rainbow Bullets show with me!"

Huh...he wanted Rick to see some random rock concert with him...But why Rick? Radford has other friends...Like Kevin. Kevin's clearly more worthy.

"No...its fine..."

Rick could somehow hear Radford's pout from the other end.

"But Riiick! I've been wanting you to come with me! I know how much you love them and I wanna spend time with you! Pleeeeaaase?"

"Rick?"

Rick realized he was just staring and responded.

"But why me? I don't even have money.."

"Well thats because you keep quitting...But still! I wanna take you! I have enough to take us, don't worry about the money. Just..please, will you go with me? Pleeeaaase?"

Dammit Radford...he sounded just like his brother.

Rick gave it some thought...fine.

"Oh alright. I'll go with you. Just let me drive for us, its the least I can do"

Rick heard Radford's very hushed "yesss!", which did make him smile a bit.

"Cool! I'll meet you after my shift, okay?"

"Kay"

"Alright. I'll go so you can sleep. Goodnight Rick! I love you!"

Before Rick responded, Radford had already hung up.

That left Rick just staring at his phone screen. Radford...dammit Radford. Why did Radford even say he loved Rick? Surely, surely that was accidental. No one loved Rick...

His phone buzzed again with a text from Radford. It was the directions to the place where this concert would take place, plus an extra message.

Radford ☆: Oh yeah. I'm sorry about the whole love you thing

Radford ☆: But I mean it! >:D

Radford ☆: Alright alright you gotta sleep. How else are you gonna get energy to party tomorrow?!

Rick put down his phone. Every and all thoughts of considering just fizzled out. Fine...he can spend one day with Radford at some concert.

He rolled back into bed and got under the covers. It seemed that that bed was much more comfortable this time around.

Instead of thoughts of a life without him, now it was just what to wear to that concert...and how the hell did Radford make him feel...whatever the hell he was feeling.

Whatever...he'll see Radford tomorrow and that was all that was important right now. And for the first time in a while, Rick went to sleep without those backstabbing thoughts in his head.

First off, in case it's not obvious, he adores you. He's definitely the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, and he likes looking after the people he cares about.

He would be really appreciative if you help him out on his shift (whether or not you work there, if you didn't he would feel kinda guilty 😭) and would get really flustered if you go to meet him while he's working.

He gets so distracted by you when he's working because he loves you so much, the hatzgang kids probably use this as an advantage to sneak in

(minus Robert because they'd get distracted and start a convo and it would probably go something like "oh em gee there's my lil bro and his friends! They look so cute stacked on top of each other in that big trenchcoat 🥰....🤨...wait....")

William Hurt's Stunt Double Saved Charlie Cox From Drowning On The Set Of Moby Dick

In Herman Melville's original 1851 novel "Moby-Dick," not much was known about the vengeful Capt. Ahab beyond his obsession with finding the story's titular whale. In Mike Barker's 2011 miniseries, Ahab (William Hurt) interacts with his on-screen wife Elizabeth (Gillian Anderson). Ethan Hawke plays Starbuck, Raoul Trujillo plays Queequeg, and Charlie Cox plays the stalwart narrator Ishmael. Cox has recently been getting a great deal of attention from Marvel fans for his performance as the superhero Daredevil in his own show, and for guest spots on "She Hulk: Attorney at Law" and in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." This author first noticed Cox for his performance as Lorenzo in Michael Radford's 2004 adaptation of "The Merchant of Venice." His appearance in "Moby Dick" would immediately be followed by 23 episode of the hit show "Boardwalk Empire," putting the actor on the map.

Filming on "Moby Dick" took place in Malta in 2009. As its story demands, the miniseries features many scenes at sea. There are many moments when multiple characters are gathered in small rowboats. Then — again, as the story demands — many characters are thrown out of said rowboats and into the ocean. In the December 2022 issue of Total Film Magazine, Cox was interviewed about his worst on-screen experience, and he revealed that filming "Moby Dick" included a moment that might have killed him. Those cursed rowboats, it seems, almost offered Cox the same fate as many members of the Pequod.

Luckily, William Hurt's unnamed stunt double — unnamed, but most likely uncredited industry veteran Tomas Ereminas — was there to rescue Cox.

Thwarting death

Charlie Cox was lucky when the day came to shoot the rowboat scene. William Hurt, it seems, did not want to get into the rowboat with his co-stars. Cox cited Hurt's age at the reason for refusing — Hurt was 61 at the time — although it could be just as likely that the star sensed danger that day. Or he simply wasn't in the mood. Regardless, one of Hurt's stunt doubles stepped in. When asked what his worst day of shooting was, Cox recalled:

"I had a stunt go wrong on the TV show 'Moby Dick.' Nobody's fault. I was meant to be on the rowboat with William Hurt but he had said he didn't want to do it. In his place was a stunt double. Anyway, we got pulled, the boat flipped, and my leg was stuck underneath one of the benches. This stunt guy got me out. With all due respect to the late, great Bill Hurt, being the age he was and not being a stuntman, I don't think he would have thought to do that. So this stunt guy potentially saved my life."

The benches Cox referred to are called, in nautical lingo, thwarts. They are ordinarily removable, but in this case, seemed to be locked firm.

The 2011 "Moby Dick" miniseries aired on August 1 and 2 of that same year, and was met with positive reviews, despite its notable changes to the novel's story. Herman Melville's novel, incidentally, has been adapted to film and TV multiple times since its first cinematic iteration in 1926. The 2011 version was the most recent direct filmed adaptation, but both the 2014 miniseries "The Whale" and Ron Howard's 2015 film "In the Heart of the Sea" adapted real-life events that served as inspiration for "Moby-Dick."

Spooky Month: The Dating Sim

Part 6

(I'm mainly just doing this because it's fun to watch, but this is basically a spooky month interactive thing/poll which is kinda like a dating sim. Of course, only the adult characters can be your love interests. So do take that in mind.)

(Also I'm kind of struggling on whether or not Radford should be a love interest? I'm mainly saying this just because he hasn't shown up that much and I have no actual idea of what his personality might be like. And I'll also feel embarrassed if I end up being completely wrong about his personality if he appears in later episodes. /lh)

You decided you'd go and check out The Theater.

You went back inside of your car, and you revved the engines. Once the car had started, you began to drive over to where you remembered The Theater being. As you did, you saw plenty of sights outside of your window. Sights of children playing with one another, people walking down the street and minding their own business. This really did seem like a charming little suburban town.

You thought of Kevin again. Even if you had just met him, he seemed like a really nice guy. You wouldn't mind coming back or swinging by to help him with whatever troubled him.

As you drove along the street, you spotted The Theater in the distance. It was there, looming slightly with its glowing yellow lights. Yet it looked like any other movie theater. Strangely, it was beautiful in its own way. There were posters of upcoming movies on the outside walls, though none of them were ones you were particularly interested in.

And yet, you decided that since you came to check it out despite not going to see any actual movie, you would at least take a look at the main area and then leave. So, you parked your car in an empty spot. Once you stopped your car, you got out of it, and locked it tightly to ensure that no one would attempt any sort of break in.

Once you had done so, you endured the cold air of the outside and began to walk toward the entrance. The entrance was hard to peer into, so you couldn't exactly tell what was behind it or not. As you inched closer to the door, you could feel your heart pounding, as if it were telling you to take a step back. You didn't listen, confused as to why you felt the way you did.

You reached out your hand to clench around the handle once you took a step closer to the door, but then, the door opened.

Upon instinct, you practically flew back. Your legs wobbled from the sudden sheer force of gravity, but it was already too patr to stop yourself from falling. You began to feel your body slowly dipping downwards onto the ground, and you were ready to brace for the fall completely and look like a complete idiot in front of whoever had opened the door.

"Wh—Whoah!" A feminine voice uttered in a panicked tone. And before you knew it.. you suddenly stopped falling. You still had your eyes tightly clenched shut, but it only took a few seconds for you to realize that you felt something. Two sensations around your waist.

Someone had stopped you from falling, and obviously, that had been whoever had opened the door.

You slowly opened your eyes, your vision seeming a little blurry due to the lights. But among those lights, you made out a figure. A feminine figure in fact. Long purple hair, a beautiful face, a dark purple dress with an even darker purple v neck line. The dresses waist part was an even darker purple as well. And even their leggings had been a shade of purple. They even seemed to be wearing boots as well.

It was only now that you realized that.. it had been a woman who saved you. A very beautiful woman in fact. You could make out a smaller figure who.. seemed to be in a skeleton costume staring up in awe from beside her, most likely her kid or some other relative.

Even so.. you weren't exactly sure what to say.

The woman then widened her eyes, seemingly noticing the somewhat awkward position you were both in. She stumbled to a straighter position, and she slowly lifted you up. "O—Oh! Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. Are you okay?" She asked.

You had now been back on your feet, and her hands slowly slipped off of your waist.
