Seaside Splendor: Exploring Yokohama's Queen’s Square from Bankoku Bridge
Location: Minatomirai District, Yokohama, Japan Timestamp: 16:13 on January 2, 2024
Fujifilm X100V with 5% diffusion filter ISO 1250 for 1/60 sec. at ƒ/9.0 Provia/Standard film simulation
Bankoku Bridge (万国橋) in Yokohama provides access from Bashamichi Station to Akarenga Park and the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse plaza. What makes this bridge standout is its enchanting view of towering skyscrapers gracing the waterfront.
This spot is a favorite among street photographers and tourists alike, especially during nighttime when the towers cast mesmerizing starry-like reflections on the water.

A belated happy Easter to all my good followers! ⛪😇 Apprenticeship (work & study) commitments have hindered my freedom to process & post photos of late, but now things seem to be setting down a little, and with the world starting to look a little greener, hopefully there'll be a few more posts on the way. It is an old Christian tradition to buy new clothes & wear them for the 1st time on Easter Sunday. The new clothes symbolise the new life of the Resurrection, and in some parts of the world, Easter parades became popular as a means of celebrating the feast & showing off one's new apparel. In the spirit thereof, I recently decided to order an extra-wide "kipper" tie first popularised in the 1940s, and resurfacing again in the 70s. Most ties of such cut available today are of 70s styling, with bold colours & patterns, but I was happy to get hold of a more conservative 40s style. Over the past few months, I've begun working on developing a personal style that uses classic garments readily available to create a truly timeless style that doesn't look too out of place on a modern street, but gives a definite nod to move historical styles. I've long had an affinity for classic & historical styles, but it was my developing interest in the new traditional architecture movement that really piqued my interest in classic fashion. After all, if a building can be seen as part of a 'brand', and if there's something to be said for creating beautiful buildings to make people happy just to see them, why can't the same be said of the clothes we wear. So when I dress with classic style in mind, it's not just for me, it's also for those who see me. I may not know them, nor even see them again, but hopefully that passing encounter will have made at least someone's day a bit happier.

It starts off so sombre and bittersweet. The nightingale singing and flying through the air. And then its song is abruptly cut off as the Bentley comes speeding down the road and hits it full speed. The music quickly transitions into something like Hammer To Fall by Queen, blasting full volume, drowning out any other sounds. The shot transitions to Crowley in the Bentley either crying or looking extremely angry. He definitely nearly crashes into someone.

While there's much talk today of what we can do to help people with their mental health - and that's necessary - does it not seem like something should be done to identify & remedy the long-term causes of today's ballooning mental health crisis? Naturally speaking, a significant part of the problem is that society has been structured in a way that destroys individual worth. Yes, we hear a lot about it, but recent history, particularly here in England, is rife with powerful people abusing their responsibility & calling the shots to benefit themselves to the detriment of the general populace, as is our current world, with its soulless landscape carved by superhuman institutions run by the same people. On a supernatural level, I would also suggest a deeper cause in the loss of the sense of the transcendent reality of who we are, where we've come from, and where we're going. I find the supernatural answer in my Catholic Faith, and I point this out because from my Faith comes my interest in the traditional economics of Distributism, the traditional social model of Medieval Corporatism & Localism, and the more recently developed principles of Neo-Traditional Urbanism. Nearly two years ago, I went on a walk around Bristol taking photos & videos which I hoped to use to start turning my blog into a multimedia channel with a video & audio podcast, some of which were published at the time (there's a fun story to that, but you'll have to find it to read it), and now I'm using some more, because Queen's Square, reminiscent of the height of Bristol's global trading prowess, is a place whose beautiful design represents the best of human-centred happy places, but whose historical associations may not be that pleasant. But that's history, and when we learn to separate out the good to be preserved & developed from the bad to be consigned to the books, we learn to guide the course of human progress in the right direction so that it benefits more the everyday human. More to come... https://www.instagram.com/p/CoLJ4YZIFHT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

i dont think wof is at least as outwardly egregious as wc in terms of portrayal of women but like. the queens still do fulfill some misogynistic caricatures/stereotypes of women and i dont think that's unfair to say or a complete damnation of the series.
