1 O my God, will You forget me forever? Will You always hide Your face from me? 2 How long must I bear this pain in body and soul? How long will I grieve night and day? How long will my captors keep their power over me? 3 Answer me, Shaddai! For You are my only hope. Bring me into the light, lest I sleep in death. 4 Do not let my enemies overcome my resistance or take more advantage of my weakness. 5 Without Your steadfast love I would die. My heart keeps hoping for Your saving grace. 6 Even now, I will sing to You in my heart and place all my hope in Your rescue.
Psalm 13 (feminine translation from Swallow's Nest: A Feminine Reading of the Psalms by Marchiene Rienstra)
Possible uses of this psalm:
Ease sadness (read Psalm by white candle)
Provide reassurance of God's goodness, protection, and triumph over obstacles
Prayer for protection from unnatural death (pray daily upon waking up)
Prayer for relief from painful eye diseases

Prayer for Deliverance from Enemies
To the leader. A Psalm of David.
1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me for ever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I bear pain in my soul, and have sorrow in my heart all day long? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God! Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death, 4 and my enemy will say, ‘I have prevailed’; my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.
5 But I trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. 6 I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me. — Psalm 13 | New Revised Standard Version, Anglicised (NRSVA) New Revised Standard Version Bible: Anglicised Edition, copyright © 1989, 1995 the Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. Psalm 13 Is Me!
How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am…

Psalm 13 - A Meditation
"How long..." "How long..." "How long..."
-Psalm 13, 1a, 2a
That is a question I keep asking because I don't know.
I think I know how to pray but I keep finding out that I end up without words. Emotions and thoughts will sometimes spill forward, maybe even resonate but so often it comes down to just not knowing.
It's not enough for me.
It's reality, but when has that stopped me?
Faith isn't just about an end, but how we get there, so maybe I can find...

A Dry and Thirsty Land
Psalm 63:1. When David was being pursued by Saul, he spent a lot of time in the desert lands of the northern stretches of Israel. There were caves in which he could shelter, but he didn’t have his band of mighty men around him yet, and it seemed that Saul had all the advantages. In spite of often feeling alone, deserted even by God (Psalm 13), David knew in his heart that he always had God as a…

Psalm 13:1-6
Ever complain to God? Out loud with words or crying out within your soul? David, the man after God’s own heart, did many times. This Psalm is one example. He starts by royally complaining. From the depths of his soul he wonders how long God will forget him. How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? (verse 1) He then tries to console…

‘Wait on the LORD’ is a constant refrain in the Psalms, and it is a necessary word, for God often keeps us waiting. He is not in such a hurry as we are, and it is not His way to give more light on the future than we need for action in the present, or to guide us more than one step at a time. When in doubt, do nothing, but continue to wait on God. When action is needed, light will come.” —J.I. Packer
