Just realized I uploaded this on my other socials but not on here. A couple years ago, I was really interested in re-imagining Swan Lake as a comic, but never got far with it and put it to the side. The story found its way back to me, and I'd love to have another go at it and work it into a graphic novel after I publish my debut graphic novel trilogy KLOUD 9 (coming in 2025!)
These are some rough character designs I was playing around with for my take on the Swan Lake characters. I wanted my Odette to be a magical Filipina princess, as my dream of helping work on the first Filipina Disney princess movie seems too far off at this point in my career. So I don't really want to wait, and I'm just making my own haha!

Sleeping Beauty (1959).
Based loosely on Charles Perrault's 1697 fairy tale with a number of elements from Peter Tchaikovsky's ballet, including the title, "Sleeping Beauty", the entire musical score, as well as the princess's name, Aurora.
One of my all-time favorite Disney films (along with Fantasia). Sleeping Beauty is a great movie. It's a really simple story, but the art direction and music are really amazing. I mean the art is so unique and beautiful, I can't overstate that enough. No other Disney production really mimics it. The Forbidden Mountain feels like a real place, they totally nailed the mood with this one.
Best character in the movie would have to be Maleficent, the Mistress of All Evil. She looks pretty much like most goth girls. In fact, there's strong evidence to suggest that Maila Nurmi, more commonly known as "Vampira", was used as a live-action reference for the animation. The character is just so sinister and Eleanor Audley's voice is so expressive. She even has a pet raven named "Diablo" (the Spanish word for "devil"), I mean, how much more goth can she be?

Naomi Lang and Peter Tchernyshev Original Dance “Waltz” 1999
“The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky, not a common piece for ice dancers, but one that Naomi danced to as a ballet student and just adores.”

making a playlist of siren songs. as ins ongs that sound like emergency broadcast noises because my playlists "songs to have good dreams to" and "can we please skip this song? no" and "airport 2, the sequel to airport" are not jarringly dissonant ENOUGH

Forgot to do a Track of the Day for yesterday so here's two today to make up for it!
#18: excerpt from Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake." Not specifically Halloween but a chilling piece nonetheless!
And #19: Charles Gounod's "Funeral March for a Marionette"
A quirky piece for a whimsical yet eery concept--the death of a puppet.
