ABC NEWS’ ‘NIGHTLINE’ IS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54
‘Nightline’ Posts Week-to-Week Gains in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49, Drawing Its Largest Overall Audience in 4 Weeks

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (847,000) and Adults 25-54 (199,000) during the week of Oct. 24, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” also beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 18-49.
“Nightline” posted week-to-week gains in Total Viewers (+10% - 847,000 vs. 769,000), Adults 25-54 (+4% - 199,000 vs. 192,000) and Adults 18-49 (+7% - 146,000 vs. 136,000), drawing its largest overall audience in 4 weeks — since w/o 9/26/22.
For the 2nd week in a row, “Nightline” grew in Total Viewers year to year (+7% - 867,000 vs. 788,000).
Season to date, “Nightline” is growing compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+10% - 895,000 vs. 816,000),Adults 25-54 (+7% - 233,000 vs. 217,000) and Adults 18-49 (+14% - 168,000 vs. 148,000). In addition, “Nightline” leads CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.
This week “Nightline” covered a new episode of “IMPACT x Nightline,” “The Bodies of Lake Mead”; Adidas’ termination of its multibillion-dollar relationship with Kanye West over his antisemitic tirades; two high-profile Hollywood rape cases taking place doors apart in Los Angeles: disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and actor Danny Masterson separately charged with sexually assaulting multiple women; the public administrator, Robert Telles, trial in Las Vegas, who allegedly stabbed veteran journalist Jeff German; Jamie Lee Curtis on her final appearance as Laurie Strode in “Halloween Ends”; Elizabeth Banks on her role in “Call Jane”; Hillary Swank on the new ABC hit drama “Alaska Daily”; Sam Heughan on his new memoir “Waypoints” on the success of “Outlander” and the pressure he felt that led him to what he calls “a low-level eating disorder” and more.

"With blood running thick and third eye yearning,
I place my heart into the hands of fate."
To the two weary travellers, the gates of hell might have been more welcoming than the outpost of Cottonwood Cove; the heat from the harsh Mojave summer had collected in the sand and permeated the ruined buildings along its shore, but at night, the surrounding earth was as bitterly cold as the people in it. The Legion camp stretched for an eternity in front of Craig Boone and the Courier, and they silently nodded to each other before they slunk into the lion's den, under the waning cover of the fading night. Above, the last twinkling of stars were ebbing away, slowly being overtaken by the approaching dawn. Sunrise would come soon. A quiet seed of anxiety settled in the pit of Boone's stomach, and he swallowed thickly.
It was time to act.
It was the ferryman, Cursur Lucullus, who fell first. The victim of Boone's sniper rifle; only one bullet to the head and he crumpled to the ground, falling away from the group camped around the jetty.
Next was Canyon Runner, the slave master stationed by the dock. A less clean kill, this time. A handful of .308 calibre bullets from the Courier were enough to break through his armour, but only left him wounded. In the distance, Boone hissed as angry shouting welled through the valley and echoed over the river like an angry crescendo. Now the rest of the camp was alert to them.
"Down." He barked.
The two fell on their stomachs in the Mojave dust, obscured by the dead patches of foliage concealing them from the pier, the main group of Legionaries sitting a mere twenty metres from the barrels of their guns. The air was tumultuous and the Legion's cries were violent and heavy, pounding like a tidal wave against the swell of civil twilight. An odd clarity swept through the sniper as he observed the group screaming their battle-cries in front of them. The realisation struck him like a lightning bolt that this was what he was meant to do. Whatever happened to him in the aftermath wouldn't matter.
The anxiety in him ebbed away, and he once more lined his shot, peering down his sights.
To make it to the boat would guarantee a death sentence, and yet, here they were, picking off the Legionaries one by one, until none remained. A bloodbath lay at their feet, the scattered remains of the Legion patrols and their mongrels barely recognisable. In another time and another place, Boone might have felt pride in it; instead, he only grasped his rifle, reloaded, and took the lead, striding over the docks and onto the rickety boat that would take them into the belly of the beast. Like Charon on the ferry of the River Styx, it would surely take him to his death, but if this would be the journey that he would take to meet his end, he was ready to die.
"Ready?" He asked.
He received a curt nod.
Dawn approached with a fiery lustre across the clouds as the pair cut through the camp with equal ferocity. Bright marigold streaked the sky and a chill set in the wind like a warning, and as Boone found himself at the flap of Caesar's tent, he took a steady breath and looked at his hands, stained red with Legionary blood. Or was it his own? He couldn't tell. He didn't think he was bleeding, though he'd long since lost his beret to a stray bullet from the barrage at the entrance of the Fort.
No matter. He would look for it after the job was done.
Without another word, and without waiting for his companion, Boone entered the tent of the Legion's leader. The scratchy fabric was rough against the palms of his calloused hands and, as he made his way into the tent, the scent of gunpowder assaulted his senses.
In an instant, he could see what he had to do. His steady hands never betrayed him as he raised his rifle and, without hesitation, took the shot that he had been destined to take.
The world slowed to a crawl, like pebbles of sand trickling down a cracked and weathered hourglass. Dappled light curled around the flashing barrel of Boone's gun. The bullet arched through the air, cutting through the oppressive atmosphere and landing true into its target. Boone's breath hitched in his throat as he observed Caesar crumple on his brahmin-skin throne. The bullet had pierced his skull. Boone's last victim fell into the sand as one of Caesar's men lined a shot of their own straight at the intruder.
Pain burst into the back of Boone's head and he collapsed, rifle still in his hand as he fell to his knees and hissed an expletive. Red sparkles danced in his vision and, as he tried to catch his breath, he found that he was unable. Instead, he produced a pathetic gargle as another shot pierced his fleshy abdomen.
His vision was spotty. The world was growing dimmer.
He did not hurt anymore.
He had crossed the River Styx. He had succeeded in what he had been destined for. It was his time, and he accepted it gratefully.

HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE 4TH INTERNATIONAL POLL (DECEMBER 2020) Part 7: Japanese Consumption
Thank you for your participation! These are the final results for the 4th Hypnosis Microphone International Poll. After months of work on this, we have estimates for general fandom opinions. Do you agree or disagree with the general opinions? Please let us know!
The results were held back from original posting as we were waiting to post for a month before the 2nd DRB finals (which is on Doppo’s Birthday this year.) So my deepest apologies for how long this took to get out. We will be releasing these results with a section per day, with the end of these results showing the Japanese side.

PREFACE
The data collection for this poll received 902 votes to give us an indication of the demographic of those who consume Hypnosis Mic. This poll was open to English speakers, and thus, results may be considerably Euro/American-centric. The word ‘international’ has been used to refer to how fans are from many places around the world, but the poll may also refer to this group as ‘English-speaking’ etc. The Japanese poll had a smaller respondent pool with 400.
This poll received the most activity through Twitter, given that the series is most active on that platform. The poll was also posted on Tumblr, Facebook and the HypMic wiki. Commentary has been given on sections of the poll. These results will be available in full on from this account. The Japanese poll results shall follow about a week with comparison to this poll.The poll was conducted from December 2020 to January 2021. This poll is UNOFFICIAL and none of the composers of this poll have any relation to King Records whatsoever.
This will be split into MULTIPLE posts due to the amount of data and limitations of tumblr.

From this group of people, only 264 people, or 66%% of respondents were around during the 1st Battle Season.
Looking at those who were around during the battle season (70%) did not vote at all, while (30%) did vote.
To compare, 293 out of 902 International respondents were around during the 1st Battle Season. 88.4% did not vote at all, while 11.6% did vote.
At the time of the 1st DRB, voting was only possible by buying CDs and certain merchandise, unlike the additions of the 2nd DRB where you could purchase a ticket to the lives. Additionally, it is much easier for JP fans to buy the CDs as HypMic is from Japan.

OBSERVATIONS
As not everyone knows that most dramatracks are readily available on the wiki and finding translations themselves are difficult, it is inevitable that INTL viewership is significantly lower than JP viewership.
All JP respondents have listened to at least one dramatrack. Given that only 2.1% of INTL respondents have not listened to at least one dramatrack, it may be possible that those who have not listened to the dramatracks are in a very small minority.
INTL fans seemed to not have been as interested in DH and BAT’s introduction tracks, while JP fans showed similar numbers for DH and BAT’s introductions to the Main 4 Divisions introductions.
The least listened to tracks that are not considered bonuses (Guidebook + Manga) are:

34.8% of International respondents listen to either Japanese or Western hip-hop. 65.2% of International respondents do not listen to hip-hop.
These numbers seem to match up with the later results that show that 79% of respondents to not listen to J hip-hop artists outside of HypMic and 69% of respondents do not listen to/could list Western hip-hop artists at all.
59.7% of Japanese respondents listen to either Japanese or Western hip-hop. 40.3% of Japanese respondents do not listen to hip-hop.
From these results, we can see that there is most likely accounts of piracy due to the high numbers of International fans that have seen the stage play or read the manga in comparison to Japanese fans.

Swift’s total weeks at No. 1 now stands at 47, one more than Houston’s tally of 46.
Taylor Swift’s Folklore album returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, collecting a seventh nonconsecutive week atop the tally. In doing so, Swift surpasses Whitney Houston’s longstanding record, among women, for the most cumulative weeks at No. 1, across all of her chart-topping albums. Swift’s total weeks at No. 1 now stands at 47, one more than Houston’s tally of 46. Folklore earned 87,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Sept. 24 (up 97 percent), according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Oct. 3-dated chart (where Folklore returns to No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard's website on Sept. 29. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
Of Folklore’s 87,000 units earned in the tracking week ending Sept. 24, album sales comprise 56,000 (up 339 percent), SEA units comprise 30,000 (down 4 percent) equaling 39.8 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs) and TEA units total 1,000 (up 38 percent).
Folklore’s fortunes perked up in the newest tracking week, as Swift sold more signed CD copies of the album through her official webstore and via independent record stores (as she’s done in previous weeks) and also issued more merchandise/album bundles in her webstore. She additionally profits from the release of a new live version of the album’s single "Betty," as performed on the Academy of Country Music Awards (held on Sept. 16). The live rendition was released to YouTube shortly after the awards, while it reached digital retail and other streaming services on Sept. 18. For tracking purposes, the new version of "Betty" is combined with its original version.
Swift also promoted Folklore on streaming services with another release (on Sept. 21) of a thematic "chapter" of songs from the album (as she’s done in previous weeks). Such collections of songs get prominent placement on streaming services, appearing as the latest release from Swift.
As noted above, Folklore returns to No. 1 for a seventh nonconsecutive week on top. In doing so, Swift’s total weeks at No. 1 -- across all seven of her chart-topping albums -- now stands at 47, a new record among female artists. She surpasses Whitney Houston’s sum of 46 weeks at No. 1. (Houston held the record for the most weeks at No. 1 among women since 1987.)
Houston notched four No. 1 albums: her self-titled debut (14 weeks at No. 1 in 1986), her sophomore release Whitney (11 in 1987), The Bodyguard soundtrack (20 in 1992-93) and I Look to You (one week in 2009).
Following Swift and Houston, Adele has the third-most weeks at No. 1 among women, with 34 weeks from her two No. 1s: 21 (24 in 2011-12) and 25 (10 in 2015-16).
The all-time leaders with the most weeks at No. 1 are The Beatles, with 132 weeks at No. 1 across their record 19 chart-topping albums. The male act (and solo artist) with the most weeks atop the list is Elvis Presley, with 67.
Here’s a roundup of every act with at least 30 weeks at No. 1, since the Billboard 200 chart began publishing on a regular weekly basis on March 24, 1956: The Beatles (132 weeks), Elvis Presley (67), Garth Brooks (52), Michael Jackson (51), Taylor Swift (47), Whitney Houston (46), The Kingston Trio (46), Elton John (39), Fleetwood Mac (38), The Rolling Stones (38), Harry Belafonte (37), The Monkees (37), Prince (35), Adele (34), Eminem (34), Eagles (30) and Mariah Carey (30).
Folklore additionally continues to have the most weeks at No. 1 for any album since Drake’s Views ruled for 13 nonconsecutive weeks in 2016. Folklore also continues to have the most weeks at No. 1 among all non-R&B/hip-hop titles, and albums by women, since Adele’s 25 landed 10 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 in 2015-16.
At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200, Pop Smoke’s former leader, Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, is a non-mover with 75,000 equivalent album units earned (up 2 percent).YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Top falls from No. 1 to No. 3 in its second week on the list, earning 63,000 equivalent album units (down 50 percent).
Alicia Keys collects her eighth top 10 album, as her latest studio effort, Alicia, bows at No. 4 with 62,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, 51,000 are from album sales, 10,000 from SEA units (equaling 13.6 million in on-demand streams of the set’s tracks) and 1,000 from TEA units. Alicia’s album sales were bolstered by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with her upcoming U.S. tour, which was slated to begin on July 28, but has since been postponed to 2021.
Alicia was initially set for release on March 20, but was delayed due to concerns relating to COVID-19. Alicia is Keys’ first studio set since 2016’s Here debuted and peaked at No. 2. All seven of Keys’ studio albums have reached the top four on the Billboard 200. She additionally logged a top 10 with the No. 1 live set Unplugged in 2005.

• 1944, Apr: Construction begins. Huntridge Development Co. plans the theater as the nucleus for the business and shopping center in Huntridge subdivision. Huntridge Development Co. is Henry Leigh Hunt & family with investors including Francis & Irene Dunne Griffin, Loretta Young. Thomas Oakey, general manager. Original builder and proprietor was Commonwealth Las Vegas Theater, Inc; S. Charles Lee, architect; A.B. Heinsbergen, Interior design; Pioneer Construction Co, contractor (1).
• 1944, Oct. 10: Grand opening. Oakey’s Huntridge Theatres Inc. later becomes operator of the Huntridge, Fremont, Palace, and Western theaters (2).
• 1947: Adjacent building at 1200 E Charleston first seen. Construction date unknown. Exterior is modified with raised walls in c. ’63-’64.
• 1951: Nevada Theatre Corp. leases and assumes management of Huntridge Theatres’ four properties (3,4). Lloyd Katz appointed general manager later in the year (5). Katz desegregates the three Nevada Theatre Corp theaters some time in the 50s (6).
• 1958: Huntridge Post Office (1125 Maryland Pkwy) new addition, built by Huntridge Development Co (7).
• 1977, Apr.: Closed, Katz lease not renewed (8).
• 1978: Huntridge bought by Frank Silvaggio.
• 1980, Nov: Partitioned into a 2-screen theater, reopened under lease by Don Lesh (9). Closed again in 1982.
• 1983, Nov: Roberts Co. (Robert Garganese Jr. & Jim Larocca) lease theater, remodel, and reopen. “We wanted to make the theater look like the old Huntridge … but we couldn’t find any pictures of it” - Larocca (10). United Artists buys Roberts Co. and takes over operations of the theater in ‘87.
• 1989, Sep 4: Last movies shown, UA closes theater (11).
• 1992: Richard Lenz leases theater, tears down the dividing wall and converts it into live events hall: Huntridge Performing Arts Theatre (12).
• 1993: Theater added to National Register of Historic Places.
• 1994, Aug: Friends of the Huntridge (Lenz) buys the theater. Financing includes city redevelopment funds and NV historic preservation funds (13); “In the ensuing years it was sustained by more than $1.3M in state grants” (14).
• 1995, Jul. 28: Roof collapse (15).
• 1996, Dec: Reopens after repair. New roof, marquee, fencing, fly loft, and recording studio installed (16).
• 2002: Bought by Mizrachi family (17). Closed Jul. 31, 2004.

Additional Hurricane Ida relief from IRS
Sept. 15, Oct. 15 deadlines, other dates further extended to Jan. 3 for parts of Mississippi; Nov. 1 deadline still applies to the rest of the state.
Victims of Hurricane Ida in parts of Mississippi now have additional time–until Jan. 3, 2022–to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the Internal Revenue Service announced today.
Following last week’s disaster declaration by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the IRS is offering this expanded relief to those parts of the state newly designated for either individual or public assistance. Previously, the IRS had provided special relief to the entire state of Mississippi, generally postponing various tax-filing and tax-payment deadlines until Nov. 1, 2021.
Currently, the expanded relief applies to Amite, Claiborne, Copiah, Covington, Franklin, Georgia, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Lincoln, Pearl River, Pike, Simpson, Walthall, Wayne and Wilkinson counties. Any jurisdiction added to the Oct. 22 FEMA declaration will automatically receive the expanded IRS relief.
The deadline remains Nov. 1 for affected taxpayers in other parts of Mississippi. The current list of eligible localities is always available on the disaster relief page on IRS.gov.
The new relief postpones various tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred starting on Aug. 28, 2021. As a result, affected individuals and businesses will have until Jan. 3, 2022, to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during this period. This means individuals who had a valid extension to file their 2020 return that ran out on Oct. 15, 2021, will now have until Jan. 3, 2022, to file. The IRS noted, however, that because tax payments related to these 2020 returns were due on May 17, 2021, those payments are not eligible for this relief.
The Jan. 3, 2022 deadline also applies to quarterly estimated income tax payments due on Sept. 15, 2021, and the quarterly payroll and excise tax returns normally due on Nov. 1, 2021. Businesses with an original or extended due date also have the additional time including, among others, calendar-year partnerships and S corporations whose 2020 extensions ran out on Sept. 15, 2021 and calendar-year corporations whose 2020 extensions ran out on Oct. 15, 2021. It also applies to calendar-year tax-exempt organizations whose 2020 extensions run out on Nov. 15, 2021.
In addition, penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after Aug. 28, 2021 and before Sept. 13, will be abated as long as the deposits were made by Sept. 13, 2021.
The IRS disaster relief page has details on other returns, payments and tax-related actions qualifying for the additional time.
The IRS automatically provides filing and penalty relief to any taxpayer with an IRS address of record located in the disaster area. Therefore, taxpayers do not need to contact the agency to get this relief. However, if an affected taxpayer receives a late filing or late payment penalty notice from the IRS that has an original or extended filing, payment or deposit due date falling within the postponement period, the taxpayer should call the number on the notice to have the penalty abated.
In addition, the IRS will work with any taxpayer who lives outside the disaster area but whose records necessary to meet a deadline occurring during the postponement period are located in the affected area. Taxpayers qualifying for relief who live outside the disaster area need to contact the IRS at 866-562-5227. This also includes workers assisting the relief activities who are affiliated with a recognized government or philanthropic organization.
Individuals and businesses in a federally declared disaster area who suffered uninsured or unreimbursed disaster-related losses can choose to claim them on either the return for the year the loss occurred (in this instance, the 2021 return normally filed next year), or the return for the prior year (2020). Be sure to write the FEMA declaration number – EM-3569 associated with the earlier relief or EM-4626 for the new relief−on any return claiming a loss. See Publication 547 for details.
The tax relief is part of a coordinated federal response to the damage caused by Hurricane Ida and is based on local damage assessments by FEMA. For information on disaster recovery, visit disasterassistance.gov.

We’re deep into the fall TV season, which means it’s time to keep the new show faucet going. With its list of new releases for October 2021, Hulu is bringing several new original series to the table.
The biggest Hulu original this month is undoubtedly Dopesick. This miniseries starring Michael Keaton premieres Oct. 13, is based on a book, and covers the U.S. opioid crisis in heartbreaking depth. To counterbalance that bleakness a bit, Hulu is also making a go of some food programming this month. Baking competition Baker’s Dozen premieres on Oct. 7. That will be followed by David Chang’s The Next Thing You Eat on Oct. 21.
There’s not much to speak of in terms of original Hulu movies in October 2021. The addiction documentary Jacinta premieres on Oct. 8 and should be an appropriate companion to Dopesick. The first of the month features the usual rush of library films including Star Trek, The Hunger Games, Total Recall, and The Village.
October is also a good time to catch up on some recent underappreciated TV. The full series of Castle (Oct. 6) and Champaign ILL (Oct. 12) are both set to arrive.
