My relationship w my curly hair is NOT stable. Sometimes I’m like I’m blessed to have these chocolate spirals. They make me look young wild untamed. Other times I’m like I’m gonna chop it up to my shoulder blades so I never have to take care of it ever again

my hair oiling routine ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I start my routine by deeply brushing my hair with a bamboo brush (5 minutes aprox)
Then, I put two oils in my hair
Gisou oil (20ml, 22€)
Handmade oil:
Ingredients:
- Rosemary branches
- Olive oil
- Water
- Honey
1st Put the rosemary in hot water and let it sit for 5 - 10 minutes
2nd Add 3 teaspoons of honey and some olive oil to the pot
3rd Let it seat for 10 minutes
Your Handmade oil is done
Should look like this
Tumblr media
! The water shouldn’t be boiling or else you will burn the oil
!! Let it rest for at least 30 minutes before using
!!! The more organic ingredients are, better results you will get
I continue by doing a scalp massage
Tumblr media
Lastly, I leave it for at least 1 hour putting it up with a claw clip
That’s it !!

black self-shippers who style their natural hair pls pls pls imagine your f/os doing scalp massages for you. imagine how gentle their hands are because they don't want to tug on any strands, imagine how they tilt your head back just to leave little kisses on your forehead when it's exposed. also imagine, if you put your hair into protective styles yourself, how they attempt to help. maybe they're a bit clumsy— brows furrowed in concentration, because they really, really want to get this twist or braid looking good this time. or maybe they're helping you section your hair, being very careful and taking an extra 30 seconds each time to make sure they're equal and/or centered. just ouaoauao them ensuring you're satisfied and happy <33 taking every extra measure even if it means extra work <333
pro-shippers do not interact

I bet Ganondorf has a whole hair routine, cuz he needs to take care of his long beautiful hair!
Considering how healthy it looks, especially since he also adorns it in gold and jewelry, I imagine that he is very particular about keeping it looking silky and full. Split ends are unacceptable. He uses every tea and every oil that he can procure that will benefit him. Was there not a meme somewhere of Ganondorf in a shampoo commercial? Where did it goooooooooo

Anyone got advice for dry/itchy scalp? It was kinda rough before I cut my hair but now that I shaved my head again, it's all over (rather than a small patch right on the front top of my hairline). I use tea tree shampoo and conditioner, but a couple days after washing, and I comb my hair, my entire scalp just releases all of it's skin (it feels like).

anyway i love being asian and i love saying that out loud with my whole chest out. there's so much tradition and history in our culture and when you're in the west sometimes you fail to understand or you miss the sentiment, the reasoning, the point, of certain practices within the culture. either that, or you feel ashamed of them. until you start seeing, for example, white people doing and taking up practices belonging to the asian culture and you, as an asian, are like .... uh ............ what the fuck am /i/ doing being ashamed about it then .......
like. for example, oiling your hair. when i was a kid, my ammi would oil my hair every single time a day before i was going to wash my hair. that act, yes, held so much meaning for the both of us. it was something my naani did to her, so she did it with me. generational. it was our bonding time. it was her teaching me how we look after our hair. and then ... as i grew up, i didn't get my hair oiled by my ammi anymore. when she asked me why, i had said to her back then that i looked greasy and it was so embarrassing because i'd smell of oil when i would go to school and. yeah. she stopped doing it. and my hair got damaged. and its been years and today, i saw my ammi oiling her hair, and she just called me over, and i sat on the floor and she oiled my hair. and it just felt. like a lot. and i felt ... heavy.
and then i realised that despite being in my late twenties, there's still so much left in me to unpack and unlearn and relearn wrt me being asian. i thought i'd gone past that phase. but i haven't. and thats okay!
which is why its so important for me to have ... this space ... i guess ... where i can validate myself. where i can watch things that are asian, made by asians, doing asian things and following the culture so that i too feel comfortable in my own skin. in the people who look like me. in the food i eat. in the clothes i wear. in the languages i speak. in the art and media i enjoy. in all the big and little things i do.
but anyway. i love being asian. i wish i could talk about it more and how much it means to me when i make a deep dive and indulge within my culture and how rooted that makes me feel. i often feel like i've neglected so much of what it means to be asian, but its still not too late. and there's a deep comfort in that.

leon loves having his hair played with. letting someone brush and braid and even wash his hair is one of his strongest extensions of trust and one of his most cherished acts of casual intimacy. because it relaxes him, and if they do it long enough it’s even liable to put him to sleep, it’s a very vulnerable thing. if leon lets someone play with his hair, it’s an indication that he both trusts them very deeply and desires affection from them.
