In my previous post, I talked about the games I’m currently playing. In this post, I’m gonna talk about the games I want to play.
If only I could just play all of them without caring, but reality is never kinder. I will have to ponder long and hard on which games should take precedence for me to try.
Tumblr media
1️⃣ Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Ni no Kuni official webpage thru Google Image Search)
Ni no Kuni is an MMORPG which uses inspired characters from Studio Ghibli in the game. The game looks absolutely beautiful and it makes me wanna try it.
Tumblr media

In order to save the storage space on my phone, I decided to download the PC version which they have. The bonus part is that you don’t have to download some emulator to play.
But, when I got to the download page...
Tumblr media
I was quite put off by the word “Beta” being there because it seems to be saying that it’s not fully functional on PC. At least, that’s the message I’m getting. Hence, I decided to wait a while and my assignments came in. Coincidentally a good timing for me to wait it out. But when I went back again today, it was still written there “Beta”.
I know a lot of other players download the PC version and seemingly does not have any issues with it. But I don’t want to take my chances because I still need my laptop for school work.
Welp, I guess I have to download it onto my phone if I ever want to try it out.
Tumblr media
2️⃣ Tower of Fantasty
Tumblr media
This game was finally released globally and it is currently the only game anyone is ever talking about. There’s bound to be some slander to the game about the developers copying everything from Genshin Impact.
Tumblr media
I usually don’t mind characters’ movements in the game because there’s a limit to how much you can create movements from scratch. There’s definitely bound to be some similarity in movements as long as you don’t nit-pick and scrutinize frame by frame.
Seeing the screenshot above, I’d say it’s Genshin-inspired since the game is still one of the most popular games to date. I have also seen on my TikTok feed of people quitting Tower of Fantasy but reasons are unknown to me.
Tumblr media
Although I do take into account of the reviews, I’m not one to look at one side of the story. Perhaps it’s just their preferences and may be I will like it. It was the same with Honkai Impact where everybody said that they love it but it was kinda boring to me (personal preferences, people, personal preferences).
I will probably take a look at Tower of Fantasy but I’m not feeling optimistic since most of the gameplay is cyber-ish. Hopefully it will be a good game to play when I’m bored of Genshin.
3️⃣ Neir Reincarnation
Tumblr media
I DID download the game and I DID play it for a while. But right now, I’m having second thoughts about it.
First of all, the Nier series is super long. Second, THERE WAS NO FREAKING TUTORIAL ON HOW TO DO THE BATTLE! I almost died in the first story.
I’m quite inclined to just uninstall it and watch it on YouTube instead like how I have always done with the Drakengard and Nier series. So, yep, I would probably do that (please don’t hate me).
Tumblr media
4️⃣ Arknights
Tumblr media
I did play Arknights previously but felt that with all the juggling of my then active Genshin, I couldn’t handle Arknights. But now that Genshin is more of when I feel like picking it up to play, I can probably spend a bit more time looking into this game,
I may start it brand new since my previous progress wasn’t much. Moreover, I was still in the tutorial stage so I guessed I could try recording my game progress right from the beginning again. Think that would be lovely.
Tumblr media
Guess what I really need to catch on in this game is the mechanics and put on my thinking cap for strategic purposes.
-------------------------------------------------
There’s still a whole ton of other games I want to try (I have a whole list of it) but this will have to do for now. Until I drop a few or it became super inactive (like Genshin), I may probably visit a few more.

Do you have a favorite game?
What RPGs are you playing right now? Have any favorite RPGs?
I combined these asks, I hope you don't mind!
I'm the kind of person who loves to play the same games over and over again. Final Fantasy 9 & 10 are my comfort games, though I do have a soft spot for all FF games since they were a huge part of my life growing up. I've completed every FF from 4 to 15, most of them multiple times, all of them in both Japanese and English.
I also like Pikmin (not rpg but anyway), Chrono Trigger, Grandia (does anyone remember this game anymore?), Xenoblade, Persona 4 & 5 and Nino kuni 1. I actually just started a new save in Persona 5 Royal. Tales are fun to play with my brothers, especially Tales of Symphonia for which we have a lot of inside lore. My favourite Tales is probably Tales of Graces because it let me make the guys wear a swimsuit and a watermelon even in serious scenes. I look forward to playing FF16 and the second FF7 remake once I'm back in Japan, though we have to buy a PS5 for that which I hate because I think PS4 is more than enough. I also like old Pokemon games but the newer ones feel wrong. If a game has nice music and some adventures, I'll probably like it. I don't like shooting or action games and I'm terrible at racing. To my horror there was a racing sequence in FF7 Remake and it was the hardest part in the whole game, I wanted to cry.

Nino Kuni 2: Evan
All rise for the founding king of Evermore, Here's King Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum! I'd say this is the proudest i've ever felt when I drew this. It took so long to do, especially when I tried to do my own style of drawing, and drawing the sword wasn't easy, either. If you guys played Ni No Kuni 2, then you know what sword Evan is holding. Hope you guys like it!

(Just a warning my internet cut out when I tried to post this ten minutes ago and I copy-pasted it from a screenshot so there may be spacing issues.)
A trope that consistently ruins media for me is the good old "that's not a disability, it's a super power!" It makes me madder because when it turns out that while the disability a character has isn't 'cured' it's associated with them being the Chosen One of their universe.
Take for example, Team Starkid's Black Friday. It's a decent musical, an engaging plot, but Hannah as a character is something that I really can't take. She has difficulty coping with the world around her because SHE'S SOME KIND OF INTER-DIMENSIONAL CONNECTION AND THE ALIENS ARE FIGHTING WITH HER AS A WITNESS. Meanwhile a lot of the audience is going "look, she's stimming! Autistic icon!" Thing is, she isn't. She may have been written to display autistic traits, but she as a character is NOT AUTISTIC she's MAGICAL and this is NOT OK. If people are recognising a character as representative of a group of people when the character is actually just written with magic powers to serve the plot, it's not ok. People with real disabilities may be capable of things normal people can't easily do, and they may not. But one thing's for sure MY AUTISM IS NOT A MAGICAL SUPERPOWER.
It is a truth widely acknowledged that in fiction disability is often cured, and this is harmful to people with real disabilities. I would argue that disability actually being a superpower is more problematic than curing it, because it doesn't just go away, it's helpful. It's called DISability for a reason. I complained about this to a friend with ADHD and he said "it's essentially telling someone who's hallucinating that the toaster is talking to them" which isn't entirely accurate but still follows my line of reasoning so I'm including it. I will now be going through some good and bad examples.
Encanto: Bruno's OCD. Not the most nuanced portrayal of OCD as I understand it, but a win for it not being either 'cured' or plot relevant. It's not explicit to audience members who don't enjoy researching their media, and it's a slightly stereotyped portrayal, but it's still good. B+.
Nino Kuni (the movie not the game): Does a decent job of actually addressing the impact of disability but turns out to be plot relevant and as a result is cured in the end. C.
Percy Jackson: ADHD and Dyslexia turn out to be plot relevant disabilities and superpowers because the characters belong in an environment that is catered to their disabilities. Characters still struggle with their disabilities at times. Percy is surprised when Annabeth, a person who has spent her life in an environment suited to her disabilities struggles with the same things he does outside this environment because she seems so put together. I like it. A+.
How To Train Your Dragon (movies): Main duo are missing limbs. This limits them in some ways. They are vikings, so they don't really care and do things anyway. A.
Bubble: (Netflix movie, recentish, what prompted this rant) Main character has an Auditory Processing Disorder. This is initially shown as a superpower, though it's shown to have an impact on his life. (I have a lot of other bones to pick with this movie btw but I'm trying to focus on the disability representation) He talks about how he struggles/has struggled with sound significantly (for maybe five minutes). He has noise cancelling headphones to help him with this. But when he takes them off he's in tune with the magic of the city or whatever. Shortly after he opens up about how he has issues with sound, he loses his headphones. Everyone else suddenly remembers he has issues with sound while he is sitting at a loud party and ask if he's ok with the noise. He shrugs and apparently has no non-magical hearing issues for the rest of the film aside from one half-hearted effort at blocking one ear while doing a war cry. Garbage. F. Also the Group Dad is missing a leg he lost in an accident. He's very hardcore, runs with a limp, shatters his prosthetic, is fine with it because this movie is barely an hour and a half and doesn't believe in giving anything depth aside from pounding it into your head that it’s the little mermaid.
We do undeniably need more representation of disability in major media, but it needs to be the right representation. This magical chosen one powers cop out is beyond harmful when characters display traits of a disability because while people won't take it entirely literally, at least when they claim you need a cure they don't act like you can do things they can't so shouldn't complain. Fiction writers apparently see disability as a character flaw, and the rule of fiction is heroes must overcome their flaws.
Feel free to correct me or add to this obviously, I just felt it needed to be said and I can’t speak for everyone.

I know these are mostly about drawing, but I wanted to ask you a few from this list, I found them universal enough
8, 9, 17, 23
8. What do you like most about your own work?
The fact that I can easily create naturalistic dialogue and bather between characters. Dialogue and characters' interactions are easier to me than narration.
9. What are you currently trying to improve?
Creating a true literary experience.
I imagine my stories like films, what makes them harder to put on page since the film form is a pure visual experience. This leads me with a narration that is too depended on description and is unable to properly set the mood.
I'm trying to not describe everything, and leave some stuff to the readers' imagination, and and use the narration to set the mood.
17. What inspires you?
Children's fantasy stories and mythology.
Things like Disney, the Oz books, the Chronicles of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan. They have imaginative whimsical fantasy worlds, and a very hopeful, unabashedly idealistic tone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Things like Greek Mythology, Tragedy Plays, Shakespeare's plays. Complex characters, exploration of deeper themes like morality and death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like my work being a mixture between these two sides.
23. Do you listen to music or watch shows while you work? If so, what’s your favourite?
Depends. There are days where music helps me, there are days were it bothers me.
I usually listen to soundtracks. My favorites at the moment are from the Kingdom Hearts games, the Narnia movies, a video game called Nino Kuni.

This video is what made me finally buy a switch after it was sitting on my wishlist for a long time .
Breath of the wild was really like.playing Ghibli game that wasn't Nino Kuni.
with the early tears of the Kingdom trailer that showed Link clutching his arm made me think of Ashitaka's cursed arm too. I am doing my best to avoid spoilers because everyone is playing this game 😭

called out by @egg-exe to list my favorite character from 10 different fandoms.
I. Do not remember names. And I refuse to look anything up. we'll see how this goes.
1) Kal'Tsit from arknights. I've been low key obsessing over the game for a while now, and Kal is definitely one of the coolest characters. Storied past, cold demeanor belying genuine care and kindness for everyone under her, Mon3tr, the team that made her did a good job and she really just exemplifies the strength of the game in general. But I can talk to the moon and back about how stupid good the writing for arknights is, especially considering it's a gacha mobile game, so ill move on
2) Neopolitan from rwby. I fell in love with rwby's setting all the way back when I first watched it. Its unique mix of fantasy and technopunk drew me in and its character concepts have kept me there ever since. Neo probably the most. A mute character being the wisecracking villain's muscle and making her shorter than literally the rest of the cast? Peak. If only they made a character to go with the cool moves.
3) Princess Zelda in Breath of the Wild. Sweetheart's trying her best and facing frustration at every turn. Somebody hug her I'm begging you. (it's me, the sweetheart is her but also me)
4) Jafar Fire Emblem 7. Played the game years ago, loved his character design and his class(crits go brrrrr), but his story is the real selling point. The way he interacts with Nino is so sweet and I have such a soft spot for both of them(technically illegal two faves from one fandom oops).
I had the next one and then I lost it uhhhhh not the one I had but we'll go with
5) I was going to say a different character from portal but then I remembered the boy: Space Core.
6) Riza Hawkeye from Fullmetal Alchemist. Her relationship with the major is so heartfelt and the writer did them so well. If you've never watched it go and do that cuz it's just so well put together.
7) Padparadsha from Houseki no Kuni. God that manga is a train wreck. Phos you walking disaster. I love it. Anywho, pad is an interesting character in an already very interesting cast of characters. Their entire existence, teetering between waking and immobility is an exploration of how much of the gem is required for them to function. how much them can be removed before they just. cease.
8) Waymond from Everything Everywhere All At Once. First off, if you haven't watched the movie, go see it. Second, damn I didn't think anyone would actually read this far. Waymond is such a wholesome man he changes the way the woman going through the infinite possibilities of the multiverse thinks. He finds joy in everything he does and shares it with everyone around him. Not because he's ignorant of the struggles of life, because with happiness they become easier. And the man that played him is just as sweet. At the Oscar's when it was announced as best picture he went up on stage too and was hugging everyone. I would die for him.
9) Finn from the star wars sequel trilogy. As bad as they were, when the force awakens came out I remember seeing it and being excited to see what they would do with a stormtrooper main character. And then they didn't do anything, wasting all of his potential. But if there's one thing I learned from rwby, it's that someone else was just as disappointed and wrote a fanfiction exploring what canon didn't.
And now time for the niche reach.
10) Maven from the web novel Save the Demon King. Maven is the eponymous demon king, a near mythical figure in setting and the last demon alive. He is such a fun character in a fun setting that is very well written. I refuse to say more except for go read it. It's free on tapas and very good.
Honorable Mention:
I did think of Hades the game as a possible fandom but everyone in it is too good. I can't choose. the short list is half the hub area characters and at least three of the gods on top of that
fuckin hell theres an hour down the drain. gotta keep the chain going so uhhhhh @krindenium you're the only other human that I know on this site.
