Okay, so, in my opinion Dragons Rising is better than most of older Ninjago. Seasons 1-15 for the most part, and alot of people think Im crazy. But here's my reason:

The characters are getting personality.

Like, sure they did in the earlier seasons and allat- but not to the extent of Dragons Rising! (Lloyd's panic attacks, everyones anxiety, Arin's depression and Sora actually changing throughout season 1 and 2 with her attitude!)

We see Kai break his train of thought before he can think about the time he lost Nya to the ocean, we see Zane miss Pixal, and Cole actually gain another family.

This is why I consider Dragons Rising an improvment, its exploring the characters s1-15 Ninjago never bothered with because they never had the time!

I swear to god when I go onto the ninjago fandom on instagram especially on instagram reels I keep seeing those ‘who should have been the green ninja?’ Videos and the 2 options are always Kai and Lloyd. And the amount of people in the comments saying things like ‘it should have been Kai!’, “Lloyd doesn’t deserve to be the green ninja”, “Kai should be the green ninja cus he’s the main character’ and yaddy yada. Like guys it’s been what 13 years and you’re still complaining about this?

Also clearly these people didn’t understand Kai’s character, if he became the green ninja then he wouldn’t have developed as a character. A large part of his character development was learning that he didn’t need some sort of special prophecy or whatnot for him to be important or smth. But I guess the people on instagram reels skipped that whole part of the show and went on to say ‘Boo hoo Kai isn’t the green ninja’.

Putting my own “Ninjago Sin” on blast-

I don't care for s1-7 Lloyd 😟

I am definitely biased because i never watch these seasons and when I did I was full of zane brainworms. But even then I don't think he's bad during those seasons he just does not appeal to me in the way he does now

I'm drawn to him because of the premise of a Savior who was raised as a weapon for Good, how that affected his life, his moral compass, and the inner conflict that can come with it. In general I enjoy watching an older Lloyd because I relate to him more, and it's s8 onwards where many of his flaws show and it makes him more complex, in my eyes at least

It's like you can see how the weight of the world begins to drag him down, and I am fascinated by how it changes him
