I've seen a lot of takes about the Hbomb video - here's a link; he's also done some similar works criticizing Allen Wakefield (accidentally instigated the prime anti-vax movement while trying to scam people) and Tommy Tallerico (similar vein to The Video, of plagiarism/credit theft).

I've also enjoyed some of his teardown videos, but my real favorites are his Why FNV Is Genius (and Here's Why) and Pathologic Is Genius (And Here's Why), which lead me to buying and playing (some of) Pathologic 2.

One thing worthy of note is that he specifically requests that nobody start a witch hunt over the subjects of his videos. He is an opinionated person and his righteous indignation is very entertaining, but I've never seen him seriously suggest people harass any real human beings. Suggestions to do so after watching the video have been made by the viewers and are explicitly condemned by Hbomb himself in the video. Just saying.

But more to the point is how he ends the video: he decides to cap it off with a reel of suggested viewing for people who create the kinds of things Somerton allegedly made himself, focusing on queer creators.

I don't doubt other people have shared this already, but it hasn't crossed my dash, so I thought I'd give it a mention. It's a really nice way to end a video that, while focusing on informing the viewers and warning people of potential scammers essentially, does have a negative tone at times because he is, well, tearing into someone's monumental career of plagiarism.

I don't spend a lot of time on Youtube outside of very specific needs, but this still makes for a good opportunity for me to familiarize myself with work from others in the community.

Anyways, I just think that's an extremely cool way to end a four-hour-video that, while extremely entertaining, is a bit of a down to watch and realize how easily extremely unmotivated people are stealing others' work and making bank off of it. That's all I had to say, goodnight.

severely depressed and continuously thinking about & re-watching jane eyre (2006) & withnail and i (1987) which at first glance may seem like very different pieces of media but which are very similar in that both stories are about: being impoverished, plain, miserable, mentally &/or physically ill, lonely, hating your family, having weird relationships you can't explain to anyone let alone yourself, walking in the rain crying & reciting hamlet to yourself in front of a dog (this is withnail but it's also exactly the kind of thing rochester would do with pilot), using humor & fantasy as a coping mechanism, going to a random village in the middle of nowhere & then leaving it, nearly dying from the cold & poverty, & having to leave to start a better life even if it really hurts

Just found out that a really cute manga that I love has a live action adaption

Its called Our Dining Table and is a super sweet story about a shy lonely salary man who has issues eating around others meeting a man and his little brother who have their own struggles relating in part to food

Together the main character and the two brothers make food together and bring joy and comfort to the other’s life with the MC and the older of the two brothers falling in love

It's very very sweet and charming and the manga is one of my go to comfort media and based on the first episode the show is a very faithful adaption

So I watched the lps popular reboot for the first time and safe to say I didn't like it. Set design was great but the dialogue and character's voices really grinded my gears like the interpretations of the main cast was so not in character like they did not feel like the main trio at all. It didn't really feel like the edgy 2010 mcbling sassy/extra/drama techno pop girly girl vibe we had in the original. People online are like "oh these characters are not good people" and I'm like THATS THE POINT!! They'll do anything to be popular even if it means being a bitch and Its teen drama your not supposed to take any of it seriously. This is why I hardly ever listen to other people's opinions on something I like unless it's something I agree with because you are fucking up my comfort media by putting in your intake, lmao. But I digress.

i just saw a post that said "i want more media with no drama and no problematic characters where nothing horrible happens" and someone responding "do you even want a story?"

i lost the post before i reblogged it, so i'm gonna make my own.

i want more media where bad things don't happen, where tensions aren't high, where the stakes are low and where all the characters are good people. i want more comfortable, happy slice of life books and shows and movies. i want media that feels like a nice warm hug after a hard day. media that comforts me, gives me joy and hope. i don't wanna stress over a story, or have a crisis over liking a character who's a bad person (i have slight morality ocd). i want to pick up a book and not take damage

i want more media designed to be a comfort, a sip of joy. i don't want to get attached to characters and see them suffer for hours. i want to get attached to characters and then see them be happy and do cute stuff like adopt animals or go on coffee shop dates or study at the library for an upcoming final
