Forever After All (Steph Catley x singer reader)

Steph and reader started dating before both got famous. Let‘s get a sneak peak on a few parts of their story.

2015:

Steph stepped onto the pitch as a Melbourne Victory player for the last time. It was already decided that her next loan step would be Melbourne City. Her eyes scanned the stands before landing on her girlfriend of four years Y/n. She smiled and waved at Steph with a bright smile and Steph waved back. Both of them decided to go out tonight, no matter the outcome of the game just enjoying eachothers presence.

Later that night both Steph and Y/n sat in their booth at their favourite pub enjoying a cold beer with some fries and the jukebox playing softly their song in the background.

Later after their dinner together Y/n took Stephs hand and they walked to Y/n‘s truck. Charmingly Y/n opened Steph the door on the passenger site and let her get in.

Y/n started the truck and drove to the hill where she and Steph kissed for the first time.

After she parked the truck she grabbed the Maglite in the back of the truck taking Steph to an old oaktree cuddling up with her favourite defender.

Steph relaxed into your arms with a content sigh playing with Y/n‘s fingers knowing her scedule will become more hectic once the season starts.

She had no clue how right she was. Sure they lived together but their time alone became sacred.

They got into a routine and Steph felt, that was something that was bothering her girlfriend.

2020

The defender woke up alone in bed and your side of the bed was cold. With a sigh she stood up brushing the wrinkles out of your shirt she usually slept in. Steph usually slept in one of your shirts because they were more comfortable than her own and they smelled like you. She found you in the kitchen drinking tea: ”What are you doing up Baby?“ Surprised Y/n looked up: ”I could ask you the same dear. You need rest after your tough game yesterday.“ Steph stepped between your legs, wrapping her arms around your neck: ”I know but I usually sleep better when you‘re with me.“ You wrapped your arms around Steph‘s waist: „Sorry Love, I couldn‘t sleep properly so I thought getting up would be better than to wake you up.“ The moonlight shone through your kitchen window and danced across Stephs face. You couldn’t help yourself and kissed your girlfriend lovingly, she looked so beautiful in just your shirt, hair up and face void of makeup. It wasn‘t always easy dating a professional footballer who was on the move to England and with your own career kicking off but you knew deep down, that your love was worth everything.

You and Steph did a year of long distance but with close to 17.000km distance you decided to follow your girlfriend to England. Of course you were scared that Steph would not be happy to have you close again but with the help of Caitlin you decided to bite the bullet and hop on the plane.

You usually lived ob the outskirts of town so the bustling city of London kinda came as a cultural shock. You felt out of place but Caitlin‘s sure hand helped you relax. You were aware that Stephs ex was also in London and both met up regularly. A part of you was bothered by it, knowing how close they both still are but the other, bigger, part of yourself trusted Steph with your life and knew she would never cheat on you. They were still friends after their love fizzled out.

Caitlin drove you to the training facilities and you followed her inside. She guided you to the field where the rest of the Arsenal girls were practicing.

Katie McCabe looked up when she saw her girlfried return with another girl by her side and hollered playfully: ”Oi babe, you cheating on me?“ Caitlin snorted next to you before yelling back: ”Yep, you caught me with my missus.“ Katie laughed and the other girls came closer. Last one coming closer was Steph and when she realized it was you, she dropped her bottle surprised: ”Baby!“ Nervously you scratched your neck and smiled sheepishly: ”Hi…“ Steph stepped closer placing her hands on your cheeks: ”What are you doing here?“ You placed your hands on Stephs hips: ”Surprise?“ und smiled nervously. Steph kissed you infront of her team and you happily kissed her back, picking her up and twirling her around.

Kim cleared her troat: ”Want to introduce us Steph?“ Steph smiled brightly at her teammates: ”This is Y/n, my girlfriend of 12 years.“

Leah and Alessia put 2 and 2 together figuring out who you were: ”Wait, Y/n as in Y/n Y/l/n the country singer?“ Blushing slightly you nodded: ”In the flesh.“ Alessia squealed: ”Oh my god, we‘re such huge fans!“

Later that evening Steph posted a photo of the two of you curled up on her couch with the simple caption: ‚My love is finally home ❤️‘ and tagged you in it. You weren’t sure if it was a hard launch or a soft launch bit you didn’t exactly care either.

You settled in nicely in London living with Steph again getting back into spending your time between the studio, writing songs, planning a proposal and spending time with Steph.

Your chance for the proposal came, when you had a huge gig at the O2 Arena in London. Steph and the girls interested got VIP tickets on your insistence and enjoyed their night and the sold out Arena.

You picked up your old guitar, the one that Steph got you for your one year anniversary, and smiled into the crowd: ”Well London, how are you guys doing? Enjoying yourself tonight?“ The crowd cheered loudly and you laughed happily: ”Well, I‘m so happy we’re on the same page here. I got a little surprise for you. You guys know I‘m not a fan of phones during concerts but for this I‘m willing to make an exception. Most of you know I‘m happily taken and very much in love with my girlfriend Stephanie and she is here tonight with some of her friends.“ The crowd cheered for Steph who blushed prettily and you turned to your security: „Guys, can you please help her up her?“ while the staff brought out a chair. As instructed they helped Steph onto the stage and she looked mildly nervous but intrigued what you were up to.

With a smile you took her hand and led her to the chair placed infront of the stool you would sit on. You pressed a tender kiss onto her lips under the roudy cheers of the crowd. Laughing you pulled back: ”Okay, okay, sorry I couldn’t resist. I mean can you blame me? Look at my Missus…“ Steph swatted you playfully: „Thin ice buddy.“ You gave her a crooked smile: „I know but I enjoy living on the edge.“ Steph shakes her head laughing and you decided to get back on track: ”But let me be real now… Baby, we‘ve been together for 12 years now. I watched you thrive on and off the field and I‘m so extremely proud of you. Watching you kick ass at the worldcup in the summer leading your team to such hights I couldn’t help but fall more in love with you every second of every day. We had our ups and downs but we always managed to get through and end up back on top. You‘re my everything Steph and I want to spend my forever with you. The next song kinda puts our relationship to paper and I‘m extremely proud that I wrote this song completely my myself. This is Forever After All.“

When the song finished you took the guitar off and got on one knee infront of Steph: ”I don’t want to do life without you Steph. You made sure I started to believe in a forever kind of love again so I want to ask you something really important: Stephanie-Elise Catly would you do me the honour to become my wife? Will you marry little old me?“

Stephs eyes were brimming with tears: „Fuck yes!“ The laugh that bubbled in your throat was a laughter of facilitation and you took the ring out of the box and put it on her finger. You shared a sweet kiss while you saw the flahes from the cameras: ”Make sure to send me those pictures aye?“ You looked over: ”For the last song I want the Arsenal girls here with us! This is The Angel“

A little look in the future

You were sitting at Stephs hospital bed, holding her hand where her weddingbamd glimmered in the sun. She was weak and you felt it won‘t be long until the Lord called her home first. Deep down you knew that you would soon follow your wife. A lone tear ran down your cheek and you pressed a kiss to the back of her hand: ”Rest love. I know you‘re in pain, just sleep I will be right here. With one last deep breath you knew he took Steph home. Your kids cried out but you smiled despite the tears: ”Kids, look at your mother… she is at peace now and will watch over you guys from above.“ Just as you said that, the sun seemd to get stronger and warmed all your faces and hearts "See, she shows us, that she‘s home. That she‘s fine“

Just a few weeks later, after you made sure that there was nothing to worry about your kids anymore you followed your wife home.

As you arrived you saw your parents laughing with a younger, healthier Steph. You looked down on yorself. The wrinkles were gone and you looked just as young as Steph. With a last look back you heard the voice of your son ”Tell mom hi. We love you so much.“

Your parents pulled you in a hug after all these years apart ”We‘re so proud of you dear. You got a good one there.“ With a bright smile you nodded ”I know. She‘s my Forever After All“

Steph stepped up to you ”Hi Baby. Welcome home, I missed you“ and with that you did what you always did when you still could: Picked the Love of your Forever up, twirled her around and kissed her with all the love you felt.

And I know there'll be that moment

The good Lord calls one of us home and

my current wip list

Hands Made for Gentleness is about my two dear idiots Vaniah and Anneka, who get married to dodge an arranged-marriage law. Vaniah is incredibly traumatised by events in his past. Anneka discovers this as time goes by. It's a story of healing, mainly, and mental health. Boatload of trigger warnings (Vaniah is severely depressed, suicidal and all that goes with that, while Anneka is in recovery from anorexia) but I love them so much and I love the energy that's between them. At this moment I'm writing a scene in which they're arguing because Vaniah abruptly shut down a kissing scene without explanation and the conversation afterwards got mildly heated. Also they basically end up in a QPR more than a traditional romantic relationship and I love that for them. They're late twenties or so during this novel. First draft.

Patience, Changing is about Patience and her adopted sister Rhona. Patience is my autistic darling, Rhona is my current Discord pfp and anyway I love them. They have interpersonal conflicts that form the nucleus of the novel, but they work them out in the end. Teenagers, and absolutely no romantic relationships in this story which I love. Also it's set in my home city of Melbourne. First draft.

To Kindle a Flame is the first book of an embarrassingly big series. I first wrote the earliest draft for camp nanowrimo or nanowrimo itself, 2017. It started out as one book, in fact started out as a simple response to a concept outlined and failed to bring to a satisfying conclusion by a Christian book by someone in my denomination - In Search of Life by Anna Tikvah. I loved the concept (girl has questions about life, turns to the Bible and reads it, things happen), but then Verity never questioned that the Bible was true, which seemed wack to me. So I started writing a story in which my main character (Adira) found a copy of the Bible and then began to read it, but the whole time she's questioning it. It turned into about 300k of messy drafting (I've drafted it uhh three times by now and am gradually working on overhauling it, grabbing what bits I can and then finishing the draft, ideally this year) and has become a story about mental health, choices and the way people figure out beliefs. In the Gospels there's a line in which Pilate says "What is truth?" - that's basically the tagline of To Kindle a Flame. It's also dystopian. It's my beloved baby. Anyway I'm normal about this story. Also Adira is autistic. Oops. I didn't intend that. I just looked at her character one day and went Yet Another Autistic Character Ay. xD It's also set in Melbourne, but aforementioned dystopia renders Melbourne unrecognisable. I've done a bunch of worldbuilding on her. Also features the character who was the first openly queer character I ever wrote - Tom, who's bi, though he ends up married to Adira and never has a mlm relationship during the story (has prior - in the story he's side B). Somewhere between first and second drafts.

Do Roses Cast Shadows? was the most recent nanowrimo, and I got a grand total of 12k into it. I uh. Don't know what's going on really. I don't recall much, but I'd like to get back to it someday. My characters are Wren and I can't recall the male main character's name.

They Told Me To Name My Demons is a poetry collection I'm working up to publication someday. It's about Christianity, suicidality, depression, autism and identity. I plan to include 100 poems and 7 prose pieces, of which I've so far written and somewhat edited 84 poems (might have a few more, I haven't crossreferenced with my phone lately) and 4 pieces of prose. The title is from a blog post I read years ago and then wrote a poem in response to. Most of the poems have been written in the last year or two. I chase inspiration where I see it. First draft.

Sparks Under Heaven is a collection of five short stories/novellas, all connected to To Kindle a Flame (one features Adira, two her grandfather, one someone another character knew in his youth and the other focuses on an event from To Kindle a Flame but from someone else's perspective). I've had it professionally edited but the edits are sitting there still waiting to be touched, largely. Second-last round of edits before I self publish.

Through Lightning, Through Thunder was nanowrimo 2022, the happiest novel I've ever written and absolutely beloved. It features Taira (rabbit), Paddy (fox), Sheba (lynx), and various less important characters. It started out life as a Narnia fanfic, focused around my original characters with occasional mentions of the Four. It was 15k. Then I fleshed it out into a full original novel, 100k-and-counting. Oopsie. The good guys are trying to stop an evil dragon being resurrected (based on the Witch scene in Prince Caspian). In the end everyone lives happily ever after. Yay. Second draft.

[Inklings story] is about Hadassah, autistic darling of my heart who is thrown through a portal and discovers a found family on the other side, essentially. Downtrodden autistic but becomes happy and confident. First draft.

The Time Travelling Midwife is about Felicity, ALSO autistic (surprise!). I haven't got very far with this one either, it exists mostly in vibes in my mind. It's best summarised as the story with the time travelling midwife, who travels in time, is an angel, tries to stop evil from prevailing and when it does eventually through the building of the tower of Babel (mainly facilitated by one of her colleagues), her time travelling powers are taken away and she ends up settling somewhere in the 1900s and having a happy life. First draft.

Harjit with her four-year-old and two-year-old, who she loved dearly

Harjit Kaur had so much to look forward to. Thanks to her hard work, she had just gotten a new job and she and her husband Sukhjinder Singh were about to buy a new home where they would raise their children. The future looked bright.

Harjit already had a four-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son. When she found out she was pregnant with her third child, she didn’t feel ready. Harjit underwent a “consultation” where she was told surgical abortion was “very safe” and that “she would be able to go home in a couple of hours.”

First-trimester surgical abortion is not as safe as she was led to believe. The uterus, cervix, the intestines, bladder, and nearby blood vessels are at risk of being torn. Risks include hemorrhage, infection, organ perforation, embolism and death. A few of the other women and girls killed by “safe and routine” first-trimester legal abortion include Kenniah Epps, Ruth Montero, Maria Gomez, Sandra Williams, Luz Maria Rodriguez, Elise Kalat, 17-year-old Chivon Williams, Erika Charlotte Wullschleger, Tia Archeiva Parks, 19-year-old Lisa Marie Hoefener, Pamela Colson, Maria Leho, Jennifer Hallner, Louchrisser Jackson, Regina Johnson, “Audrey Roe,” “Betty Roe,” “Dawn Roe,” “Evie Roe,” “Dorothy Roe,” “Vanessa Roe,” “Saanvi Roe,” and “Roxanne Roe.”

On January 12, 2024, Harjit went to the Hampton Park Women's Health abortion facility in Melbourne. She had told this was “safe” and a “routine procedure,” and she believed it. She was headed to the operating room at 12:57, when she messaged her husband and said she would call him after the abortion. That was the last time her family ever heard from her.

Abortionist Rudolph “Rudy” Lopes called Sukhjinder later that day to tell him what happened. Moments after the abortion was over, Harjit was being moved to another room when it was discovered that her heart had stopped. An ambulance was called and CPR administered for 45 minutes. Despite all this, Lopes described the abortion as “successful.”

Sukhjinder immediately drove to the facility, but when he arrived the staff refused to let him see Harjit. He was kept out of the ward entirely. He described the horrible day to news sources later:

“Five minutes later the doctor came to me and said, "Sorry your wife is dead".

“I was dead then. My life destroyed in a second.”

Staff finally let Sukhjinder into the room where Harjit’s body lay. “I begged her to come back for our little kids,” he said.

An investigation is now underway, with police and the coroner involved in the case.

Sukhjinder is devastated and doesn’t understand how Harjit, who was perfectly healthy, was killed by something they were repeatedly told was “safe and routine.” He struggles to comprehend what his future will look like without her and has described her needless death as unacceptable.

Harjit did not have to die. It is unacceptable that she was not warned of the potential dangers of the operation that killed her. More support should also be made available for families who are unsure if they are ready to care for a new baby. Resources to help her and Sukhjinder care for the new baby or for adoption could have helped. She and her baby should both be alive. Harjit deserved better than to be collateral damage of an industry that has already killed so many.

A tiny snippet of unknowingly pregnant Lando spending the holidays with Oscar's family:

Lando has met Oscar's family before, at races and random McLaren events, but spending the holidays with Oscar's family in Australia is different. Bigger.

It's been an exhausting season. The last two months are a painful blur of jet lag and physical exhaustion and muscle aches and getting unprecedentedly weepy every time he or Oscar are on the podium. Oscar's dad picks them up from the airport, claps Lando on the shoulder and wraps his son in a bear hug that makes Lando coo and Oscar blush. He falls asleep in the backseat of the pickup truck, lulled into a drowsy state by the motion of the vehicle and Oscar's gentle voice telling his dad about the final race.

When they arrive at the house it's just past noon in Melbourne but it's the middle of the night in Monaco; Lando doesn't even manage to greet the rest of Oscar's family before he's out cold.

Lando wakes up a few hours later to an empty bed, disoriented by his surroundings. It's still light outside, and the sun streaming through the window highlights Piastri family photos on the wall. He grins at one of Oscar and his sisters at the zoo, posing like flamingos.

He follows the sound of voices downstairs where he's met with Oscar sitting on a stool at the kitchen counter talking to his mom who's posted at the stovetop.

"Oh hi Lando, dear! How did you sleep?"

"Hi Nicole." Lando steps around the counter into Oscar's mom's open arms pulling him into a hug. "That mattress is amazing."

"How was the flight? I bet you're feeling hungry."

Oscar snorts, makes room at the counter for Lando to join him. "Mum, you don't need to baby us."

"Yes I do, I don't care how fast you drive those cars, while you're under my roof you're still my baby. Oscar told me you don't like fish but you do like chicken tenders, so I made sure to pick some up at the grocery store. I'll pop some in the oven, how's that?"

"That sounds good, thank you."

"Of course, dear." Oscar's mom sets to preheating the oven, removing the frozen chicken tenders from the freezer, and arranging them on a tray while she asks Lando about Quadrant and his parents and plans for the rest of the holidays. The chicken tenders go in the oven and, soon, the kitchen is filled with the scent.

Lando's stomach turns. He must make a face because Oscar turns to look at him.

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah, just jet lag."

Oscar's mom glances at them before removing the tray from the oven. Lando catches another whiff of the chicken and gags the way he only ever does when faced with fish. Oscar rubs a hand up and down Lando's back, soothing him.

The tenders get plated and slid across the counter. Lando picks one up, aware of the way Oscar's mom scrutinizes him, and nibbles a bite out. He has to force himself not to spit the food out.

"Have you been having unprotected sex?"

At that question, Lando does spit out his food while Oscar turns bright red.

"Mum!"

Oscar's mom tuts. "Calm down, Oscar. I'm going to run to the pharmacy, I'll be back in half an hour. Your sisters should be around if you need anything." With that, she promptly exits the kitchen, fetches her purse, and heads out the front door.

"What was that all about, Osc?"

"How am I supposed to know?"

"Well she's your mum, isn't she?"

Oscar and Lando bicker for a minute before they're distracted again, resulting in an impromptu make-out session on Oscar's parent's couch. They break apart and shuffle to opposite sides of the couch when Oscar hears the front door opening and pushes himself off Lando.

Oscar's mom marches in and sets a box down on the coffee table. Lando leans in to inspect. It's a pregnancy test.

"There's no way Oscar's pregnant, he never tops–"

Oscar throws his hand over Lando's mouth. "Please don't talk about this in front of my mum. And I don't think it's for me."

"Is it for one of your sisters?"

The room is silent while Oscar and his mom stare at Lando with mirrored, unblinking expressions. A minute later, Lando connects the dots.

"Oh. Oh shit."

The pain and joy of being in love ❤️ I have been a bit quiet and inactive with talking about ‘fur babies’ of late as I’ve needed some time to process a great loss in our family and household. My dear, beautiful and loyal girl, Alex (the cat 🐱) passed away after 17-18 years of life. She had been in my life for 16 of those years. In July of this year, her heart murmur got the better of her and she succumbed to the illness. I had the honour of seeing her last moments out of this world with many sobs and tears, but I was grateful to have been by her side to the very end. My face and presence was the last thing she saw and felt as she left. Overcome by grief, I’d been struggling over the last few months without the presence of a furry four legged friend to come home to. And then, Blanka, entered my sphere. Thanks to the wonderful organisation and volunteers at @startingoverdogrescue I have been able to slowly patch up that gaping hole in my heart with this beautiful old, gentle and sweet soul. And so I’d like to introduce you all to beautiful, Blanka, a white, 7.5 YO German Shepherd girl. She’s had a rough background and needs a lot of love and patience to help her find her feet and confidence again. Three weeks in, and she has already proven that she has so much to give if given the chance. Please welcome Blanka, and please give a shoutout to the amazing organisation and wonderful volunteers who work in animal rescue. They work so tirelessly, on such little resources and backing. They do the work simply because it’s important and they genuinely care about the welfare of the animals. Hey everyone! Was she in a dream? To be quite honest, she wasn’t sure herself.

After a long flight from Seoul, Y/N just wanted to sleep in and call it a day. She just want to catch up on the sleep she lacked because she wasn’t going to spend her vacation in Melbourne like an old grumpy grouch who hasn’t gotten enough sleep in her system.

But right now, she wasn’t sure if the kisses that she’s feeling at the moment, were a dream or not.

Fluttering her eyes open while she instinctively stretched on bed, Y/N’s eyes landed on her beautiful girlfriend, Park Chaeyoung who’s also known as Rosé to some.

The recently awaken girl smiled at Australian native before she softly cooed, “Good God, I don’t know what I did in my previous life to wake up to such beauty.”

Rosé rolled her eyes at her girlfriend’s cheesy comment as she grinned while shaking her head before she caressed Y/N’s face and said, “I won’t be such a beauty if we’re not up and getting ready to go to the beach in half an hour.”

This caused for Y/N to groan playfully as she whined, “Babe, we just went through an 11-hour flight from Seoul to Melbourne; I think we deserve a day’s worth of sleep.”

“Y/N, we’ve only got a week here and tomorrow, I’ve promised Alice that we’ll spend our time with her,” Rosé reasoned with a small pout before she suddenly sat up and straddled her girlfriend’s waist while softly pleading, “Pretty please, baby? I just want today to be us.”

Y/N knew that her girlfriend was very well aware by the fact that she was absolutely weak for Rosé’s pout and her adorable baby voice. It worked everytime whenever the Australian native wanted something and Y/N knew it wasn’t going to change anytime soon.

Placing her hands on her girlfriend’s hips, Y/N sighed and chuckled in amusement as she breathed out, “You, Ms. Roseanne Park, are playing a dirty game.”

Rosé giggled before she placed a quick kiss on the tip of Y/N’s nose as she teased, “Yeah, but I win every time and that’s all that matters, sweets.”

As the Australian rolled off of her girlfriend, Y/N could only sigh as she forced herself to sit up and gaze aimlessly around the room. She’ll admit it, she was definitely in a daze and she knows she could sleep for another few more hours but at the same time, Y/N loved seeing her girlfriend happy.

With that said, Y/N got out of the covers and immediately made the bed as she then made her way to the bathroom to freshen up. Thankfully, it didn’t take her long to get ready but they still needed to pack for the short trip.

While Y/N was brushing her teeth, the girl could feel slender arms going around her waist and as she looked at the mirror, she could see Rosé leaning her chin on the crook of Y/N’s neck.

“I love this,” Rosé sighed out before she chirped, “Waking you up, planning a trip to the beach then spending the week with my sister; it’s like my life is normal.”

With her mouth full of toothpaste foam, Y/N spit some out before she gargled her mouth with water and said, “Baby, if your life was ever normal, you and I would have never met.”

The Australian giggled as she then tightened her arms while softly saying, “I still have yet to thank Soojin for introducing us both when she did. If she hadn’t had urged Alice to bring me along to the party, you and I would be non-existent right now.”

Y/N smiling lovingly towards her girlfriend through the mirror as she quietly chirped, “It’s funny how fate works huh, babe?”

Rosé just nodded with a gentle smile before she placed a quick kiss on her girlfriend’s cheek while slowly untangling her arms around her waist and said, “Best hangover I’ve experienced.”

The Australian then teasingly pat her girlfriend’s butt while the latter laughed in response as the both of them continued to do their errands for the the daytrip.

For the couple, the trip to Melbourne was rather unexpected but because Rosé felt a bit bored being at the dorm with no schedules at all, she impulsively thought a trip back home would be a great idea for a much needed distraction.

Of course, she needed approval from both the group and the label, which included the approval of her managers. It was hard at first and Rosé expected no less. They were already reluctant on letting her go, let alone letting her go with her very hidden girlfriend.

It was no surprise to anyone that any relationship that Rosé would be in, would have to be hidden from the eyes of the public. However, it wasn’t because she was embarrassed or ashamed by the fact that she was dating a girl but it was merely because some fans wouldn’t accept the fact that their number one bias- was actually taken.

She’s seen it with her fellow bandmate, Jennie and she’s also seen it with her other friends in the industry. It’s not that idols aren’t allowed to date; no, nothing like that.. but they were to stay quiet regarding the relationship for the entire time to avoid fan disapproval.

“Rosie, don’t forget to bring a blanket later! It’s gonna be chilly by the time we arrive!” Y/N yelled out from the room as Rosé was out in the living room, looking for a spare bag.

“And don’t you forget to bring my plushie for when I sleep on the car!”

Creasing her brows, Y/N entered the living room with one plushie in each hands before she questioned, “Shall I bring Milly or Peaches?”

Turning around to face her girlfriend, the sight absolutely melted Rosé’s heart as she giggled and shook her head with adoration. With her girlfriend still sporting a serious expression on her face, the Australian walked towards her before she placed her hands on her girlfriend’s hips while saying, “Hmm, why don’t we bring both?”

“Yeah, I figured,” Y/N said with pursued lips as Rosé looks at her curiously before the girl clarified seriously, “Well, that way none of them gets jealous.”

The Australian laughed loudly as she quickly cupped her girlfriend’s face and unconsciously caressed her cheeks while softly saying, “You, my dear, are the cutest person I know.”

Brows creased and cheeks slightly red, Y/N questioned adorably, “.... Are we still talking about Milly and Peaches?”

Rosé missed this.

She missed the smell of Australian air and how the cold breeze completely compliments the heat of the sun. It was something that she grew up with and has never forgotten- even after she moved to Korea.

Don’t get her wrong, she absolutely loves Seoul and the people there but there was something about Melbourne that gave her a sense of calm. She was even more content now, considering that she was in Melbourne with the person she’s so in love with.

“I remember you telling me that one day we’d go to Brighton beach together,” Y/N chimed in softly as she glanced at her girlfriend before looking back at the road as she continued to drive and said, “You were so excited by the thought of it, I knew it must’ve been amazing.”

Smiling contently at her girlfriend, Rosé leaned the side of her head against the head rest as she nodded and quietly chirped, “It was on my bucket list growing up; to go to Brighton beach with the person I’m crazily in love with.”

“And I’m the person who you’re crazily in love with?”

The Australian giggled before she took Y/N’s free hand and placed a chaste kiss on her knuckles while saying, “Yes and I have been for the past 11 months.”

Y/N looked at Rosé temporarily, at the same time as the sun hits her face and emphasizing her gorgeous brown eyes as the former sighs contently and breathes out, “God, I have no idea what I did in my previous life to deserve someone like you, Park Chaeyoung.”

As her girlfriend looks back at the road, Rosé leans over the center console before she leans her head on Y/N’s shoulder and said, “Sweets, as long as we’re together in this current lifetime, nothing else really matters.”

That instantly made the driving girl smile as she leaned her head on top of the Australian’s head while they continued to drive to Brighton beach. The drive didn’t really take that long but due to sudden traffic, the couple finally arrived at the destination 35 minutes later. Because it was a weekday, the beach was rather empty but honestly, the couple enjoyed it that way.

Stepping out of the car with all their items in their hands, the couple looked at the gorgeous sky that were a mixture of yellow, orange and a hint of magenta. It was so picture perfect that Rosé couldn’t help but take a deep breath and released a sigh of content.

“This almost seems unreal.” The Australian whispered, loud enough for her girlfriend to hear as she added, “The color of the skies are just... wow.”

While Rosé gazes at the sky, Y/N gazes at her.

She’s experienced this multiple times whenever she’s with Rosé because she can’t believe that such a person exists in her lifetime. Not only was her girlfriend a multitalented human being, but she was one of the kindest and most caring soul too.

Rosé then looked at Y/N and realized that the latter was shamelessly staring at her before she teased, “Why don’t you take a picture, sweetheart? It’ll last longer.”

“Photos don’t do your beauty justice; how the color of the sky hits your skin and makes your eyes shine a little bit brighter than before; God, this is what I dream of everyday.”

Out of the complete blue, tears were threatening to leave Rosé’s eyes as she hears the sweet words before she abruptly looked away and croaked out, “Let’s go hang out by the beach before the sun sets.”

The couple then made their way to the empty beach, sitting at the steps at one of the colorful houses that were known to tourists all around the world. They laid out everything that they’ve brought, Milly and Peaches enjoying the sight of the scenery themselves as the couple hugged each other while a blanket covers their shoulders.

Their eyes were locked on the skies as the colors of orange, yellow and magenta began to darken slightly and the breeze of cold air were more blatant than they were before. The sound of the currents and the loud squawking of the seagulls making its appearance as shades of gray entered the warm colored sky.

With her arms wrapped around her girlfriend’s waist, the Australian leaned her head at the crook of Y/N’s neck as she took a deep breath and released a content sigh before saying, “Can’t believe we’re finally here.”

“Who would’ve known that I’d be sitting at Brighton beach with the one and only, Roseanne Park?” Y/N questioned rhetorically as a small smile formed on her lips before she continued, “Sometimes I feel like this is all a dream and in five minutes, I’m going to wake up and realize that it was all a dream.”

Rosé then looked up at her girlfriend before she whispered, “Well, we can’t have that now, can we?” She teased before she joked, “What can we do to change that, Ms. Y/L/N?”

Chuckling softly at her girlfriend, Y/N hummed before she pretended to think while suggesting, “I’m not sure myself, Ms. Rosie; do you think a kiss would do?”

The Australian then grinned adorably as she nodded slightly before saying, “I can’t think of a better solution, Ms.”

With that, Rosé then scooted closer before she gently connected her lips with her girlfriend’s, both of their eyes fluttering shut at the contact as the sound of the whistling air fill the atmosphere.

Slowly pulling away, the tips of their nose were slightly touching before the couple smiled affectionately at each other as Y/N whispered teasingly, “It is definitely one of my favorite solutions, that’s for sure.”

The Australian then laughed warmly before she rolled her eyes playfully and stood up with the blanket around her shoulders as she faced her girlfriend while saying, “You better cherish it, my love; I don’t give out my solutions easily.”

And in that moment, when her girlfriend was simply smiling at her with that beautiful smile of hers, Y/N knew that she was screwed forever.

Rosé was not only beautiful on the outside but after dating her for so long, she knew that her girlfriend had one of the most beautiful souls she’s ever known.

She loved the fact that her girlfriend was sensitive and could easily cry to a heartwarming video; it told her that Rosé was insanely empathetic.

She loved the fact that her girlfriend loved her pet fish like crazy and would do anything to pamper it; it meant that she was loving to the one she cared, regardless of who or what they are.

She loved how Rosé would eat all the food that she cooked, even if it was burnt because the Australian said that the effort was what matters; it meant that she was appreciative of the smallest things.

Long story short, Y/N loved Rosé entirely- it was as simple as that.

“You make it so easy.”

Rosé looked at her girlfriend with slight confusion as she chuckled softly and asked, “Huh? I make what so easy?”

Y/N then stood up, cupped her girlfriend’s face with both her hands before she lovingly admitted, “You... make it so easy for me to love you.”

As expected, Rosé teared up slightly before she wrapped her hands around her girlfriend’s wrist as she whispered, “Y/N-“

“I can’t explain in detail on how much you affect me, Rosie because every time I look at you or think of you, my mind just goes wild,” Y/N revealed as she gently caressed Rosé’s cheek before continuing with, “And whenever you’re sad or angry, all I want to do is to make sure you’re gonna be okay and that you’re letting it all out instead of bottling it up.”

Finally, a tear finally fell down Rosé’s cheek as she grabbed onto her girlfriend a little bit tighter before Y/N continued, “Yeah, we may have our bad days and we may have our disagreements but I know for sure that there is no one else I’d rather have bad days with... because with you, Park Chaeyoung, everything makes sense,” She whispered as the pads of her thumbs wipe away the fallen tears, “I have some doubts about my life in the world but you, my darling, are the one thing that I’m absolutely sure of.”

Rosé then sighed in content before she leaned herself against Y/N as she whispered, “.... I’m so in love with you, Y/N Y/L/N..” She lovingly admitted before she pulled away slightly and looked into the eyes of her girlfriend as she added, “I hope you know that you’re stuck with me for a long time.”

“Oh baby, I’m yours for a lifetime, if you’d like.”

 Melbourne during wartime was lovely, you thought as you downed another drink in the wild hollers of the boys. In fact, it was even better than home. You could have a proper hot bath in the house of a stranger who then pampered you like their own child. You could enter a shop and be assaulted with questions from young boys and discrete glances from their mothers. You could talk to your father after two months and found out that Lew's sister was having a baby boy and that she would have hoped to have you by her side at the christening. The number of things that were happening around you and to you was overwhelming.

You were living the time of your life; you told yourself, a broad smile spreading across your face. You had a bed with a proper mattress, the opportunity to eat out every evening, and to jog around the parks in the morning. It was not even at home that you felt so peaceful, so self-accomplished.

Although, there was still a war raging on and the fact that you were to be deployed back in the Pacific in two days was no sweet reminder. A bitter thought. But as you were waiting for a refill, you let your eyes wander around the crowded bar. Barely wincing at the heavy cigarette smoke which you've eventually grown accustomed to, you briefly saw Chuckler making out with some Australian girl, Runner trying to hit on one and then Sidney, sweet and reserved Sidney, in deep conversation with his Australian companion you knew as Gwen. She was exquisite, you stared at her, without realizing that you, in fact, were comparing yourself to her. A perfect little doll face with an elegant posture and a shiny blonde hair with curls that embraced her flower-patterned dress. Glancing down at your army-issued trousers, you couldn't help but shrug and remember how a dress used to feel from the time you used to wear them back home. As another pint of beer was passed by the barman, he flashed a smile at you and leaned closer:

'Ain't enjoying the night out, miss?'

You gave him a reluctant look, knowing that he was hitting on you. Everyone loved the uniform.

'I'm fine, thank you,' you smiled politely at him, declining the drink. 'Although some bourbon would be nice -do you happen to have some?'

  Feeling a warm blush creeping in your cheeks, you stood up and did what seemed perfectly rational at that moment: you slapped him right across his freshly shaven cheek. With a shocked but amused expression, he looked up at you with a mischievous sneer that scared you a little. No one but the two of you seemed to notice the sudden interaction, which made you aware of how drunk everyone in the room was. Including yourself.

'Guess the missie likes it the hard way!' he kept on with his shit-eating grin as he began to seize you with a hungry glance that made you feel literally naked. 'How about I show you my-'

 With your breath fastening at each of his words, you got up on your legs and hurtled out of the room. Your father may have tried to prepare you for this kind of uncomfortable situations. Still, he failed to mention the cockiness or the sheer lust etched across their face -or your drunk mind was unable to remember everything with accuracy.

 You stumbled to the door, tears forming in the corner of your eyes. That's how always things went -everything was great for a while, something unexpected happened, and everything fell apart. And you were right in the middle of it, a fool and innocent girl in a world of men. You fought to be a part of it, had to prove yourself to remain in it, and now all you wanted was to get the heck out of everything and cuddle with your blanket in your bed.

'Hey, Y/N! Was actually looking for ya!'

 A joyous shout came from the other side of the street and you hastily turned your head in the sound's direction, trying to wipe the anxiety off your face. Hoosier stopped in his traces to wave at you, and you tried to wave back, but you unceremoniously broke down in tears. A rush of relief surged through your veins, and the next thing you knew was that you were clinging to Bill's body for dear life, with tears streaming down across your face.

'Slow down, slow down. What happened?' he asked with a worried voice, his hands slowly brushing the hair out of your face. 'Did someone do something to you?' his tone suddenly raised as you looked up to him.

'I want to get out of here' you blurted the words out, unaware of how drunk you were until you tried to take another step and ended up in Bill's arms. 'Some guy tried hitting on me, I asked him for some bourbon, and then he began saying something about the Australian flavor and -OH MY GOD, just get me out of here, please!' you pleaded as the words just kept coming out of your mouth.

'And just how much did you drink before asking for the bourbon?' he felt compelled to ask as he had also drunk a few shots beforehand.

'Just enough to end up like this,' you smiled bitterly contemplating your state. 'I'm miserable, Bill, that's what I am. And you know what?' you asked him as you felt a sudden pang of hope. 'I'm so miserable that I am going to embark on the ship right now and sleep until they force me to land on another God-forgotten island! Yes, that's it, no one is going to stop me from-'

'Yes, you drank enough.' he stated for himself as he was looking at you blabbering and making plans with that drunk determination on your face. 'Wait, is this your first time getting drunk?' he asked you on a slightly high-pitched tone that betrayed his sloppiness. 'You look rather cute, actually...'

'You think so?' You suddenly asked with a small smile on your face. 'You know Sid's girl, Gwen? I think she's gorgeous with her gleaming long hair and her flawless silhouette. You should go and find your Gwen too, Hoos!' you suddenly exclaimed, giving him a serious pat on the shoulder.

A corner of his mouth lifted while watching your forehead creasing from all the connections you wanted to make with your drunk mind. You were so innocent and unaware of the fact that he'd been looking for you so he could confess his feelings before being deployed once again. But considering the pretty shaken up state he'd found you into, he couldn't make any move on you -he cared too much for you to see you being overwhelmed by too many feelings.

'Go ahead, lover boy! I'll be waiting for you right here!' you promptly stated as you sat down on the ledge of the alley.

    You looked at him with your tired and naïve eyes, your reserved smile revealing your actual condition: a first-time drunk girl who was just sick of being among strangers and wanted to go home. But for the fact that home was an ocean away. His brows furrowed at the distressing sight, and he lowered down on his knees, bringing his face closer to yours.

'How about I take you somewhere quiet and cozy?' he asked you gently, taking your cold hands in this. 'I think I know just the place.'

Blinking slightly confused at his way too gentle attitude, you shot him a suspicious look. Ever since you came here, he either spent his time sleeping or hanging around with you- you got closer during Guadalcanal, but you'd expected him to act like all the other guys did and find himself a nice Australian gal to waste his time with. Yet there he was, enduring your drunk self who kept saying things that made no sense in your head -what was holding him back?

'Come on. Up on your feet!' He slid a hand around your waist, trying to get you back up despite your quiet protests.

Eventually, you stood up and tried again to take a few steps by yourself until it proved a little too difficult, and you crashed ungraciously against a wall and let out a muffled pain sound as Bill hurried to catch you.

'Well, fuck.' You plainly stated, unaware that you just said a terrible word. 'I'm giving up!' You eventually shouted as you rested your head against Bill's body.

   He had wrongly assessed your state until that point. Even then he did not understand what kind of drunk you were -because your actions seemed to be a mix-up between the sad drunk and the sleepy drunk, but then again you had moments when you were highly realistic-

 A faint snore interrupted his train of thoughts, and he glanced down to realize that you had fallen asleep, clinging on to his shirt. He laughed to himself as he gently stroked your ponytail, enthralled by the vague smell of roses that it still bore.

 The sudden sound of shattered glass came from across the street and made him rise his glance in that direction, deciding that it's time he took you to a quieter place. Moving as silent as he could, he managed to place you on his back so that your hands we're barely brushing his chest as your regular breath tickled his left cheek.

As the night moved around you two, he slowly carried you through the quiet streets of the Australian city, the stars and the moon quietly watching over you both.

 He may not have been able to tell you what he was feeling like, but as you lazily wrapped your arms around his chest, leaving out a content moan, he couldn't imagine a better way to spend his last evening in Melbourne.
