I might be the only one who ships these two and that is because of their interactions in Fairytopia. I'm sorry, but Laverna baked for her and Topaz loved those cakes 😤
After watching Barbie: Fairytopia, I finally finished all the classic Barbie Movies. And from this, I found that Elina & Fairytopia is basically G-Rated Feyre & ACOTAR. In this essay I will…
Here We Go. Reasons why Elina is G-rated Feyre or basically Feyre is Elina since Elina came first:
1) Both are considered “outsiders” of the fae/fairies. The fae consider themselves superior.
2) Cassian is Bibble
3) (Spoilers) Both eventually gain the powers of the higher power fae/fairies
4) The magical lands are separated in regions with each their own leader
5) (Spoilers) Both Elina and Feyre become leaders of their own regions (Fairy Town/Night Court)
6) Both Laverna and Amarantha (try) to take over by holding the leaders hostage.
7) The High Lords give me the same vibes as the Inner Circle. Or even the High Lords. Mainly because of this iconic quote:
Ruby -“Is that supposed to be me? Because I’m much taller than the other guardians.”
Topaz-“It’s true, he is!”
Laverna-“Fine. As I was saying…”
Ruby- “Now I just look like a giraffe.”
8) The land is cursed
9) When taking a higher form, they both gain more powers than the others
10) Both Elina and Feyre are curse-breakers
11) Az also gives me Hue vibes (Fit Butterfly Vibes with larger *wingspan*)
12) Get promised whatever they want but resist for the greater good.
13) Literally form allies wherever
14) The entering the under the mountain scene is like Laverna’s lair scene
15) Cassian is Bibble
16) Just how the movie and book rolls makes me think it is the same story but with different tones.
17) Does this make Rhys the Enchantress????
Don’t come at me, I like this meme. I will use it if I want to.
That should not be happening-..(Remake of Sukuna Goes Into Barbie Fairytopia)
Queen Enchantress strongly believes in a prophecy that claims Elina will be the sole saviour of Fairytopia. SIKE, Elina may play a significant role in saving Fairytopia, but she won't accomplish it on her own. Her husband, who's happened bigger ex notorious villain than LAVERNA in the past, is right by her side in this adventure.
P.s: He didn't like this bullshit and ready to throw hands at everyone
Do you ever wonder why Enchantress, who is The Queen that rules over the biggest kingdom in Fairytopia realm, always seems weak and not as determined as her older twin sister Laverna? Who's constantly trying to take over the throne forcefully because she wants to be adored by the other fairies.
Meanwhile, Enchantress possesses incredible magical powers just like Laverna and has even given magical necklaces to her seven guardian fairies, each one responsible for protecting a different territory. With such power, it seems like defeating Laverna should be easy, especially since her only biggest allies is Fungus and his clones.
But wait! Here's the twist: In all three Barbie FairyTopia movies, Enchantress is easily deceived thus fails to protect herself also her kingdom from Laverna and Fungus. At first glance, it looks like Enchantress is just as unfit to rule as her sister.
However, before we label her as foolish, there's something you should know. Enchantress actually has her own secret agenda, known only to a few fairies, including her and her seven guardians. It revolves around a secret prophecy.
The secret prophecy tells the story of a special fairy who is born without wings, but has a shimmering rainbow light in her eyes. According to the prophecy, this fairy is destined to defeat Laverna, who wants to take over the throne of the kingdom of Chantria and finally takeover all other kingdom then rule over Fairytopia.
This prophecy is so important that the Queen of Chantria has forbidden her seven fairy guardians from fighting against Laverna. Instead, they are searching for the fairy mentioned in the prophecy.
They finally discovered the chosen fairy, named Elina, who lives in a place called Fairy Meadow, which other fairies from different areas know as Magic Meadow. Elina's parents were important figures and close friends of the seven fairy guardians. However, Elina's mother passed away from an illness, and her father tragically died just a month later.
Due to the strict commands of the Queen Enchantress, the fairy guardians were not allowed to directly interact with Elina, unless Laverna initiated an attack.
The Queen was afraid that any interaction with Elina could alter the predetermined fate determined by the prophecy. As a result, Elina was cared for by a giant flower named Peony, who lived with her in Magic Meadow.
In secret, Topaz, the guardian fairy of the Magic Meadow or Fairy Meadow, watched from afar as Elina grew older and finally reached adulthood. It was around a year after Elina became an adult elf that Laverna launched her attack on the kingdom of Chantria.
This attack confirmed the prophecy, assuring the safety of the seven fairy guardians and the Enchantress. Despite Laverna's threat to poison the air in Chantria and Fairytopia, rendering winged creatures unable to fly, the guardians and the Enchantress believed that the destined fairy would save them all.
However, there was a hidden twist. Delphine, the Oracle, discovered a new prophecy that could overshadowed the previous one. According to the new prophecy, a creature resembling a male wingless fairy would emerge.
This creature would be twice the height of a regular fairy, covered in black tattoos, and possess a more muscular physique. It was foreseen that this creature would join forces with the destined fairy to defeat Laverna and save the Fairytopia
or, they might end up ruling Fairytopia together, with the creature as an emperor and the destined fairy as his empress.

And like always, here’s the hint for the next Crossover Casting (It’s Pixar)!
(( I’m going to assume the films, correct? I can’t really RP as a toyline ^^; /hj
For real though, I think some characters from the various movies (most likely movies in the 2000s onward) are alright. They aren’t really bad, aren’t really good...just mediocre. They’re made to be watched by little girls, mostly. However, there are some interesting characters that I like, mainly the villains and animal characters. Main ones are kinda ‘eh’ cause it’s Barbie basically self-inserting herself XD... (I stopped at Princess Power ngl, but if there’s more down the line for more modern Barbie films, I’ll list em too.)
Anyways, the characters that I’d RP most are:
The Nutcracker: Mouse King, Pim
Rapunzel: Penelope, Hugo, Gothel, Otto
Swan Lake: Fairy Queen, Rothbart, Lila, Erasmus
Fairytopia/Mermadia/Magic of the Rainbow: Laverna, Topaz, Ruby
Magic of Pegasus: Wenlock, Brietta
The 12 Dancing Princesses: Prince Derek, Duchess Rowena
Island Princess: Sagi, Ro/Princess Rosella, Prince Antonio
The Diamond Castle: Lydia
The Three Musketeers: Corinne, Aramina, Miette, Phillipe
A Mermaid Tale: Princess Merliah, Break
A Fashion Fairytale: Marie-Alecia, Millicent, Jacqueline, Glimmer/Shimmer/Shyne
Princess Charm School: Dame Devin, Alexandra Privet, Delancy Devin
The Princess & The Popstar: Seymour Crider
The Pink Shoes (which is basically swan lake all over again i guess??): Snow Queen, Hilarion, Prince Albrecht, Hailey, Rothbart
The Secret Door: Alexa, Princess Malucia, Grodlin
Princess Power: Baron von Ravendale, Princess Kara
Setting up that Elina has good aim early on, we love good foreshadowing
I love that the way Elina learned about the main conflict wasn't through a call to action or a magical prediction, but through hearsay
Like, she isn't thrown into the plot, she hears some gossip about it and then decides to participate
I've always wondered how exactly people started getting the idea that Laverna didn't exist. Like, they don't just think she's dead or missing, they think she full on isn't real. How does this happen to a person?
LAVERNA'S INTRO LAVERNA'S INTRO
This is honestly the best villain intro in the BCU and one of the best scenes of the entire movie
The shadow, beautiful
The hyper sweet way Laverna talks to people in this movie makes her so much better and scarier than the villains who just treat everyone with disdain all the time
She's almost flirting with Topaz here, and you can tell she wants her to like her so bad
Poor Dandelion 😔
Funny how Ruby, the only male character who properly interacts with Laverna, is the only one she doesn't flirt with
BIBBLE'S LITTLE DANCE 🥺
I wanna fly around in a little flower parachute...
Fun fact, Azura is actually my favorite character from all of the Barbie movies
We all agree that the rainbow eye thing is a metaphor for being gay, right?
Lesbian aunt Azura realises Elina is a younger lesbian trying to find her purpose and immediately throws her a tea party to tell her how great she is. Best comfort character ever, throw a tea party for me Azura, please
The friends I haven't met yet 🥺❤
Elina is already so enamored with Azura, she's spent the whole time they've known each other just longingly staring at her and taking in her every move
Azura was Elina's gay awakening, change my mind
"For the friends you haven't met!" "And for the ones I have..." I love her so much
Rewatching this movie is just making me realise how much better my life would be if I was small enough to fit inside a flower
AZURA AND LAVERNA FLIRTING YESS
"Do you always keep your party guests captive, Laverna?" "As a matter of fact, yes!"
The way they're talking about the "sleeping little fairy girl" makes it sound like Laverna thinks Azura and Elina hooked up and Azura is trying to deny it
I do love how the message of this movie isn't "Elina is just as capable as everyone else despite being different", but instead "Elina's differences are what make her uniquely capable in a way that nobody else is"
And to think that their little swimming date was gonna lead to an entire movie in the future
Elina holding onto Azura's necklace for comfort ❤
I want a little butterfly necklace like that too
Dahlia was such an interesting and cool character, I wish she showed up in the other fairytopia movies
Laverna CANNOT stop flirting with Azura for the life of her
And Azura kinda reciprocates but kinda doesn't, it's weird. Like, she only reciprocates when she wants to mess with her
Also, Topaz went from being scared of Laverna, to having muffins with Laverna, to being into Laverna. Best character development in the movie
I have now decided that Dahlia and Laverna were exes
This whole commentary is just me going "these two are gay" and "god, I wish that were me"
"Let my friends go, Laverna! They don't have anything you want!" "Not true! They have your love." Laverna, say that again slowly
"You have the rainbow in your eyes [...] that makes you a lot like me" Laverna is gay confirmed
Now here's what I find interesting, I think Laverna was being honest here. Like, she was obviously manipulating Elina, but I think she would in fact have given her the wings, and that she actually wanted Elina by her side. If one thing is clear about Laverna throughout this movie is that she's very lonely and is desperate to be loved and admired. I think she did relate to Elina's struggles, and really thought she could have found a powerful ally/friend/girlfriend(?) in her
I'm tempted to post my full Laverna character analysis now
Basking in the gay
Azura cares about Elina so much 🥺
Why is the enchantress thanking Dandelion? She didn't do anything
Giving Elina wings was the worst writing decision made in this whole movie, and I will die on this hill
Does the scene look pretty? Yes. But it really undermines the theme, which is a shame, because I liked this theme a lot
Final thoughts:
The original Fairytopia is one of my favorite Barbie movies, and I think it deserves more love. It has gorgeous concepts and visuals, lots of fun characters, and a heartwarming magical adventure full of meaningful themes and lessons. I absolutely love most of the characters in this movie (namely Azura and Laverna), and I feel like a lot of them are a little more complex than most children's movies characters, but that could be just me reading too much into things. But I'm still really tempted to post some character analysis about the main characters of this movie now.
The only qualm I have with this movie is the ending. Elina shouldn't have gotten wings, sorry. They go through so much trouble in the movie to make it clear that Elina's differences (i.e., not having wings) are a meaningful part of who she is, and give her unique abilities and perspectives that no other fairies can have, only to erase said differences in the end. Sad.
But still, I overall love this movie a lot, and I had a great time rewatching. I'm not really looking forward to the sequels, though. They're some of my least favorite Barbie movies from this era, and I think they did away with most of the things I love about this first movie. But we'll talk more about that when we get there.
Forget-Me-Not is the mom Dandelion mentions when she says she's going to ask if Laverna is real, bc quite naturally, she has the best memory and knows many legends. oddly, Dandelion doesn't bring this up again the next morning when she sees Elina, not even when she confirms that Topaz is gone, so I'm not sure what Forget-Me-Not would have told her.
Marigold is the mom that Elina mentions when she says "If you aren't home by dark, I don't even want to think about what your mom would do," and Dandelion said she would panic, bc she's the one that worries. Dandelion is technically of age but she's still very protective of her.
Forget-Me-Not and Snapdragon care too, of course, but they think that Dandelion should have at least a little more freedom, and that she can take care of herself--I mean, just look at how brave and decisive Dandelion is, immediately deciding to go with Elina and then trying to say she can walk even tho she's getting sick like everyone else at that point. the girl knows what she's doing.
Barbie movies, you say??? How about princess and the pauper and Fairytopia for the ships thing? 😄
OTP: Princess Anneliese/Julian. I’ve always felt a bit iffy shipping them since technically Julian is her tutor, but… c'mon, I’m pretty sure that her actual tutor was Julian’s tutor and that Julian is barely older than Anneliese herself.Anneliese’s comparison in the mine is a bit unfortunate, I’ll admit, but I’ve always found them cute and I’m glad that they found each other.
favourite canon pairing: Erika/King Dominick. I’m so touched by the strength and sincerity of King Dominick’s feelings. He gave Erika the time and space she needed, he didn’t pressure her into anything and when she came back to him, he was still 210% down to marry her, just like he was before her departure. He couldn’t care less that she was a peasant. The scene where he comes to the prison to rescue her because he KNOWS that she’s a good person, even though he had every right to be angry at her for “tricking him”… MY HEART.
worst pairing ever: objectively it would be some twisted ships like Annelise/Preminger, personally I would say Anneliese/Erika. I’ve always seen their bond as purely platonic and sisterly. Let me have that.
guilty pleasure pairing: I don’t really have one, though I definetely feel guilty over not listing Preminger/Queen Genevieve on the worst ship list? Don’t get me wrong, their relationship would be awful, unhealthy and twisted, I just consider it more interesting and less yikes than pretty much all of the worst pairing options. Maybe because they’re roughly the same age. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
a pairing you want to see more of: Anneliese/Julian. I mean, Erika/Dominick is also somewhat underappreciated, but I sometimes feel like I’m the only person who likes Anneliese/Julian and it’s sad.
that pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: I don’t see people boycotting Wolfie/Serafina so I’ll go with Wolfie/Serafina. It’s not that I hate it, it’s just a ship that comes out of nowhere and… it feels far-fetched that not only do Anneliese and Erika have their double wedding, but also their cats hooked up with each other? Please no.
favourite non-romantic pair: Erika with Julian, Serafina with Bertie. I also would love to see more interactions between Anneliese and Erika’s coworker - I can see the potential for a sweet friendship (and Anneliese getting more understanding re: How Real Life Works).
I decided to go with Fairytopia, Mermaidia and The Magic of the Rainbow for the complete trilogy and both Mariposa movies for the complete series.
OTP: MARIPOSA/PRINCE CARLOS. Listen, that’s the only Barbie ship that has ever given me so much emotion. Mattel, I’m begging, give me an animated TV series in which Mariposa and Carlos get the slowburn romance they deserve.
favourite canon pairing: does Mariposa/Prince Carlos count as one? They’re definetely the closest match and they’re supported in-universe by Willa.
worst pairing ever: objectively these would be ships like Elina/Azura or Rayna/Rayla, but personally I absolutely detest Bibble/Dizzle and the idea of Elina/Mariposa squicks me out?
guilty pleasure pairing: okay but consider an AU to “The Magic of the Rainbow” where Laverna doesn’t inpersonate Sundrop and we’re given a whole movie of Elina and Sundrop’s enemies-to-lovers relationship? No, it’s more self indulgent. Maybe Elina/Dandelion? Just give me more of their interactions, please. I love them.
a pairing you want to see more of: it really looks like that if you don’t ship Elina with Nori, you’re in deep trouble? Aside from Elina/Sundrop, I would love to see more Elina/Dandelion, maybe Elina/Glee and a whole lot of people accepting that Elina can be single and happy.
that pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”: Mariposa/Catania. It’s a very sweet friendship, but Mariposa is just too much of a mentor/older sister figure to Catania and their romance just doesn’t sit well with me.
favourite non-romantic pair: from Fairytopia trilogy: TOPAZ AS A BOTHERSOME HOSTAGE TO LAVERNA, Elina & Dandelion, Elina & Dahlia, Elina & Linden; from Mariposa duology: Willa & Prince Carlos, Prince Carlos & Queen Marabella.
In a Fairytopia different from the one we know, there's a tension running through the land. Dissatisfied in her treatment by the Enchantress and her lackies, Elina the wingless fairy left her home in the magic meadow, deciding to challenge the rule of the Enchantress, to expose her as a Queen who does little to help her people and more to help herself.
At her wits end, Enchantress Lumina sends her twin sister and royal sorceress Laverna to track down and bring in the wingless fairy once and for all. However over time Laverna gets to know Elina, and feelings of resistance she's kept locked away are all bubbling up to the surface.
Additional Tags: I don't know how long this is gonna be and I don't know how often it'll update, but I'm really passionate about this au, elina is a badass, I'll probably write them fuckin at some point, tags will be added as they're needed, the guardians are all bitches and the enchantress loves them all, AU, Alternate Universe, affectionately titled the Evilina AU, could change to explicit depending on how I write this, the only major warning that could be added is graphic depictions of violence, but we'll see how spicy I'm feeling
Imagines: In queue; Written; Still to write (8/12/17)
A/N: Due to the time it takes things to be published I thought that I’d try keeping an up-to-date list of how things are being done, updating it very Friday if possible; we’ll have to see how long I can keep this up for though (requests are normal, my gif ones are in italics) .

I'm the only one manning this rarepair ship and I will be damned if I let it sink 😤 Also, I'm glad my last post about them converted some people on Tiktok into Topaz x Laverna shippers 😈
Listen, if I manage to get the energy, I'll post some Topaz x Laverna and Azura x Enchantress fanart before I have to start prepping for Plein Airpril. It's mostly for myself, but I feel like I'm slowly managing to get people to see my vision for these ships. *cue crack of lightening with ominous laugh*
(besides topaz and laverna) do you ship anyone else from barbie fairytopia?
I do! Azura/the Enchantress and the classic Elina/Nori (I also like Elina/Glee and Elina/Dandelion but I think people can be a little bit tense on the Elina ships 😅).
