I've recently begun dedicating as much of my Fridays as possible to engaging in activities that will grow my connection with Aphrodite - my primary patroness, Kali, is given Saturdays, and will soon be given Tuesdays, as well, and it kind of feels like a fun version of child custody scheduling - so, I thought it was funny that I dressed entirely in pink today without meaning to. However, what was really adorable, was my partner noticing, commenting, "Oh, are we wearing pink today?" and then adjusting the outfit he was laying out to match. It couldn't have fit the theme of the day better!

Nico stopped his little monologue to glance at Will, who was cheerfully chatting with his siblings at the Apollo Table. Aphrodite’s Blessing Deity Oil

“APHRODITE was the Olympian goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and procreation.” - Theoi

I honour Lady Aphrodite for self-love, occasionally for blessings within my relationship. With chronic illness, you feel down in the dumps a lot about yourself. Self-love is very important to me in this case.

While I don’t actively worship her as I have a full spirit house currently, I absolutely honour her (this can be one in the same for some but we won’t get into that).

On Fridays, I give her offerings as the planet Venus is associated with her domain. I wear her oil for a boost of self-love. I also use it as a candle dressing and for offering. Her other attribute is war. So when I need a self-confidence boost, I will use her oil or if I need it to steel my resolve for a situation.

You will need

A clean and cleansed bottle

Rose - Water, associated with Aphrodite, love, pleasure, beauty

Jasmine - Water, confidence, to calm nerves, love

Ylang Ylang - Confidence, love, sensuality

Myrrh - Historical offering, mood balancing

Cinnamon - Confidence, power, heat (do NOT put this within your oil if you are to use it on skin. Can be skin reactive)

Olive carrier oil - Traditional offering

You can either do the folk method or the hot method. You can find my post on infused oils here to learn how to make infused spell oils. I suggest if you are an animist or someone who wants more power from your oils. Speak to the herbs kindly, treat them less like an ingredient and ask them respectfully for their aid and the purpose they'll have in your oil. Use intention. The same goes for the Olive oil.

You can sub any of these, however, Rose and Myrrh are historical for her. Along with Olive oil. Try to keep within the theme of love, beauty, pleasure, and confidence (if you'd like).

Femme Queen Friday tribute

In the fall of 1995 at the House of Mizrahi Hell Raiser Ball in NYC – a new entity had entered the realm of FQ face. She wasn’t new to ballroom; however, that night she’d won femme queen “new face” and persisted on to become one of thee staples for femme queen carta (Meechie Lanvin, 2016). She had a distinctive performance & way of sellage, ushering into the scene with a creative flare … and not to mention, skin like butter. She is dark and lovely personified – ladies and gentlemen I reintroduce to you the Iconic Cheyenne Aphrodite Allure.

Hello! my name is Alyx, and im a Hellenic Witch! i wanted to talk about my practice a little bit, and let other people know that its ok to be unconventional when it comes to your practice. you do what you think is best, and intuition is your best friend when it comes to designing your practice.

anyways, heres some things i do throughout the week to worship my Gods.

personally, i got very overwhelmed when i started worshipping, so i set up a schedule, giving each deity and myself a day of the week that coincided with their historical days of worship.

Sunday

This day is for Lord Apollon. for him, i wake up before the sun and have a glass of orange juice while i watch the sunrise. i also go for a walk, and feed the corvids (crows and ravens) in my neighborhood.

Monday

this day is for Lady Artemis. for her, i record the moon phase, go to a park near my house, and bring some food with me for any animals i might come across. this is also one of the days i cleanse my space and myself.

Tuesday

this day is for Lord Ares. for him, i go to the gym, spend any free time i have with my dogs, and take good care of my mental health.

Wednesday

this day is for Lady Hestia. this day is apart from her historical day, but i trusted my intuition and chose this day because she feels very centering and in the middle of everything, and wednesday’s give that energy for me. for her, i bake or cook something, veil, and make sure that im choosing kindness over everything else.

Thursday

this day is for Lord Thanatos. for him, i wear something dark, honor the dead by visiting the cemetery near my house and leaving offerings, and finding a butterfly in something. finding a butterfly is a bit unconventional, but butterflies remind me of the beauty and peacefulness of death. its actually funny because when i first started to worship him, he would send me monarchs. one of those times, i found one almost dead and drowned in a puddle, and i took care of it in its final moments.

Friday

this day is for me. i set aside time to take care of myself, i make sure i eat well and drink water, i go to the gym, and i try to get more sleep. because i am currently worshipping 6 Deities, i have one day left over, and so i treat myself on that day how i would treat a deity. obviously i never compare myself to them and never hold myself on the same level as them, but its important for me to set aside a day for myself.

Saturday

this day is for Lady Aphrodite. for her, i take an everything shower, do my makeup, and honor Water. to me, she is a Water Deity, because in her birth myth, the blood of Uranus and the sea mixed together, and she rose from the foam, so involving water in her worship is important to me.

Other Things i do for my Gods

i took a vow of chastity for Lady Hestia

i make my own offerings out of clay (im a ceramics student so thats easy for me)

i wrote my own prayers for them

i braid colors into my hair that reminds me of them (i do one color per day and on each of their days i braid it into my hair using string)

i use my hair as a tool for my practice, and take care of it well. i use it to express periods of my life, and periods of change. for example, i cut it all off when i decided to change myself, and morned my old self while it was short, and now that it grew back out, i am out of that period and into a different one.

i offer myself as a conduit for them to experience the human condition of the 2000’s. they can inhabit my body for a period of time and live my life, taste my food, experience working a modern job (🤢🤢🤢), stuff like that.

i have a playlist for each of them with songs they like/songs that remind me of them/ give off the same vibe. i listen to their playlist on their day

Prende

Prende or Premte is the goddess of dawn, love, beauty, fertility, health and protector of women, in the Albanian pagan mythology. She is also called Afër-dita, an Albanian phrase meaning "near day", "the day is near", or "dawn", in association with the cult of the planet Venus, the morning and evening star. Her sacred day is Friday, named in Albanian after her: e premte, premtja (Gheg Albanian: e prende, prendja). In Albanian mythology Prende appears as the daughter of Zojz, the Albanian sky and lighning god.

Thought to have been worshiped by the Illyrians in antiquity, Prende is identified with the cult of Venus and she was worshipped in northern Albania, especially by the Albanian women, until recent times. Originally a pre-Christian deity, she was called "Saint Veneranda" (ShënePremte or Shën Prende), identified by the Catholic Church as Saint Anne, mother of Virgin Mary. She was so popular in Albania that over one in eight of the Catholic churches existing in the late 16th and the early 17th centuries were named after her. Many other historical Catholic and Orthodox churches were dedicated to her in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Dialectal variants include: Gheg Albanian P(ë)rende (def. P(ë)renda), Pren(n)e (def. Pren(n)a); Tosk Albanian: Premte (def. Premtja), Preme (def. Prema).

Prende is also called Afërdita (Afêrdita in Gheg Albanian) in association with the cult of the planet Venus, the morning and evening star, which in Albanian is referred to as (h)ylli i dritës, Afërdita "the Star of Light, Afërdita" (i.e. Venus, the morning star) and (h)ylli i mbrëmjes, Afërdita (i.e. Venus, the evening star). Afër-dita, an Albanian phrase meaning "near day", "the day is near", or "dawn", is the native Albanian name of the planet Venus. Afro-dita is its Albanian imperative form meaning "come forth the day/dawn".

The Albanian translation of "evening" is also rendered as πρέμε premë in the Albanian-Greek dictionary of Marko Boçari.

In northern Albania, Prende is referred to as Zoja Prenne or Zoja e Bukuris "Goddess/Lady Prenne" or "Goddess/Lady of Beauty".

The Albanian name Premtë or P(ë)rende is thought to correspond regularly to the Ancient Greek counterpart Περσεφάττα (Persephatta), a variant of Περσεφόνη (Persephone). The theonyms have been traced back to the Indo-European *pers-é-bʰ(h₂)n̥t-ih₂ ("she who brings the light through").

In the Albanian pagan mythology Prende is the goddess of dawn, love, beauty, fertility and health. She is considered the Albanian equivalent of the Roman Venus, Norse Freyja and Greek Aphrodite.

According to some Albanian traditions, Prende is the daughter of Zojz, the Albanian sky and lightning god. Associated with the dawn goddess, the epithet "daughter of the sky-god" is commonly found in Indo-European traditions.

According to folk beliefs, swallows, called Pulat e Zojës "the Lady's Birds", pull Prende across the sky in her chariot. Swallows are connected to the chariot by the rainbow (Ylberi), which the people also call Brezi or Shoka e Zojës "the Lady's Belt".

The common Albanian name nepërkë for the venomous snake adder, viper appears in the Arbëresh variety of Calabria as nepromtja, probably based on Prende / Premte.

𝕷𝖔𝖗𝖊/𝖘𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖎𝖊𝖘: ~The most renowned of the Norse goddesses. She ruled over love, fertility, battle, and death, as well as witches and magic in general. Her father was Njord; a sea god, and either Nerthus or Skadi. She was a beautiful goddess. -She traveled on a chariot lead by two cats and after they had served her for 7 years, she rewarded them by turning them into witches. -There once was a follower of Frey that lived in Midgard. He was an orphan names Ottar. He was very pious towards Freya and built a shrine of stone, a horgr/hearg (a type of altar or cult site, possibly consisting of a heap of stones), and made many offerings to her. The orphan had build a life for himself; with a plot of land- despite his upbringing. However- people began moving in on his land, and with his little to no connections he couldn't do much. Ottar was honest, wise, generous, and brave in the face of danger. One day, when he returned to his home, next to his altar -there stood Freya. She suggested he go with him on an adventure to Asgard. The awestruck Ottar simply nodded in agreement, and in an instant- Freya turned him into a ferocious looking boar with golden fur (quite similar to her brothers boar) On the way to Asgard, Freya stopped by and demanded that Volva -a sorceress- tell them of Ottar's ancestry. As the sorceress explains, Ottar was descended from noblemen, kings, and even gods. After spending a day in Asgard, dinning with the gods, they returned the Midgardian to his home. He lived an adventurous life from then on, before dying and going to Valhalla to dine with the gods once again.

-She was extremely drawn to the forge of the four dwarves named; Dvalinn, Alfrik, Berling, and Grer. She sees them making the finest necklace she'd ever seen, and is immediately filled with desire for the object. She offers them silver and gold for it but the dwarves refuse. They say that they will give it to her in exchange for each of them to get a night with her. The necklace was gorgeous, gleamed like the sun and called to her same as Mjollnir to Thor, both symbolizing her and embodying her power- so the goddess agreed. -She has a falcon feather coat -basically same as Frigg's- that allows the wearer to fly (usually as a falcon) this coat gets borrowed by Loki multiple times.

Been feeling what the scientific community commonly calls "like shit" lately and due to it being the last Friday of the month, I decided to not resent my physical form but to pamper it. In honor of the Laughing Lady herself, Aphrodite. I ate, bathed, and moisturized myself, taking special care to enjoy the sensuality of it all and to remind myself that I am made of love.

Every Friday, I try to do small things to show my appreciation and love for Lady Aphrodite. I try to wear pink as regularly as possible on Fridays (I think my students have noticed 😅). It's also the day I'm especially open to noticing beauty, although now that spring is here, I notice myself noticing beauty more often. Beauty in nature but also beauty in music, in others' gesture and words.

I don't have a regular practice at the moment, but I am hoping, as student teaching wraps up and as the weather is warming up, to set up something for Lady Aphrodite. ❤️
