OUGH answering with Laurel & Olive because Venture is already well known FGHJK 2- It kind of depends. To get a hearty laugh out of Laurel is HARD, but it doesn't mean he has a hard time finding things amusing or even funny, is just that his mannerisms are very subdued, so he would mostly smile and make some remark, at most he would snork a bit.

For Olive she is easier to make laugh in general! Is just... there is a lot in her mind at the beginning of the story, so joking with her can very quickly do a left turn and leave her more bothered than before... However when she starts to calm down she is very lively! Most times is a small, chest-y laughter!

15- Oh boy they are 100% opposites on this. Laurel mostly keeps to himself and his thoughts so he can have full internal monologues and then he says something out of nowhere and you get 0 on how he got to that conclusion (Unless someone asks him). That said he is not very good with interactions or charismatic, in part because he thinks too much and starts to get anxious when there isn't really a right way to respond to a person.

Olive on the other hand is 0 filter 0 thoughts bullshit through life and you can charisma your way out of any situation. A bit of backstory but she used to be a journalist! So she in general knows how to talk to get things out of people...

37- The two are very organized at taking notes! Again, Olive is a journalist so she is used to taking notes as she hears them, and Laurel as a detective also makes a point on noting anything that feels relevant (And if not... well, he has Mathew as his assistant to write anything <3).

Laurel is better with keeping stuff in his brain and waiting to have some downtime to write it all out, while Olive takes notes on the run or she might get lost on a mind tangent sdfghj AND FOR MYSELF OUGH <3 B- Ough this is so much fun. SO all of the main Part 1 Street Cats OCs are actually characters from WC roleplay groups from 2015! I made a bunch of OCs for these groups but they eventually started to die and I felt bad my wiwis didn't have homes. THEN Around that time in 2016 I started playing Ace Attorney and god Phoenix and Miles gave me so much inspiration for Laurel (Which was like- one of my main roleplay OCs alongside Belen) and so as the groups started to die I just- wanted to do something similar with these OCs, I like mystery stuff dfghj

The original concept always was "Laurel is doing his job until out of nowhere Olive joins and the two go hater mode on each other and eventually evolves into romance" SDFGH But it was more centered in Laurel and it had very little to no plot, just vibes dfghj Then I forgot/canned it for a few years until in 2021... Oh, the infectious worm attached itself to my brain. I was reading A Lot of Royai fanfics and cool concepts but I was like "Damn, I want more exploration of these themes just- in a way I have more control AKA me having OCs" and then I remembered WAIT I DO. These two fit sooo well those ideas I wanted to explore and as I developed Olive more I grew obsessed with her. I love feral insane women <3

Funny enough, I wouldn't call Laurel and Olive super Royai adjacent in terms of character :thinking: They are still very similar to how they were back in 2016, just... more and better SDFGHJ I just knew how to write them better this time around.

ive deffo talked abt this 1 before but 1 of my big hcs is that marty doesnt drink alcohol! my reasoning varies slightly depending on my mood lol but mainly just bc he doesnt like the culture and hates feeling out of control. he can be coaxed into a single drink tho if hes just hanging out with jeff. my back up for this is in the ghost talks when alive marty asks for a tomato juice (as opposed to the expected scotch) and the man he is with looks at him like he grew two heads. then also just *gestures vaguely at all of when the spirit moves you* this hc also leads into my crackship of calvin p bream x marty lolllll

um i dont thinkkk? ive mentioned this 1 before but my 2nd other hc is that jeff was raised by his grandparents (or smtimes just grandma depends on my mood lol). theres no canonical basis to this other than to me he seems super old fashioned (obvs the whole show is to us but even for Then he just seems......old to me idk). i think that he got his short temper and cynical side from her :")

bonus hc leading on from the last , i also think that both jeff and marty are disconnected from their families in some way. jeff bc his family are never mentioned at all, and martys family seem to... not be involved in his life? the gathering at his funeral was very small, and his auntie turned up almost a year since his funeral (i...think, the r&h timeline is inconsistent) found out from jeannie (who took a while to even recall the aunt) that he died, then preceeded to barely give a crap ??!! if anything it was a mild incovenience to her. not sure that would be my reaction to finding out an otherwise healthy young nephew died in a freak road accident but hey.

i think that jeff marty and jeannie are extremely close knit in an almost found family sort of way (and i know this is in part due to itc focusing more on individual episode stories than overarching plot/backstory) but in terms of canon i choose to believe their families each had something against them living their lives the way they want to. maybe jeffs folks didnt like him not settling down with somebody, jeannies for marrying somebody so soon (we dont know this but thats the best reason i can come up with lol), and martys because he spent almost all of his time with jeff (a bad influence). i just get this feeling that they have been rejected by others and depend on each other a lot! or i am just projecting hehe

I HAVE NO ONE TO TALK TO ABOUT MY BLORBOS SO Y’ALL GET IT

(For reference. This is for Aiden and Lambert from the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. All of these can be read with pretty much no knowledge. I went into these freaking blind off of… somewhere. I don’t know. I found them somewhere and went down a rabbit hole.)

I’ve been through all 58 or so pages worth of fanfiction in their tag. Lore-wise, we literally only know a name and vague affiliation on one of em. They’re my poor little meow meows. My silly rabbits.

I went through all those fics and I got like. Six recommendations. These all made me feel some kind of way, or I read them more than once. IN some ORDER!

1. Where I Stand by LadySesame.

Status: complete

Ohhhhhhh what if we were lovers and I thought you were dead and then you got dragged into my home (that I never quite had the courage to invite you back to) completely feral and with clear signs of torture and me n my bros and my (kinda shitty dad who I fight with a lot but he’s genuinely trying but also he’s fucking it up) and one of my brother’s weird boyfriend (who was kind of the only one who knew you existed and mattered to me in any way) had to figure out what the hell to do about all this. And then it gets better but worse before it gets better.

Vampire hunt flashback cool. Dynamic immaculate.

2. The Kaedwen Wolves by Kaerith

Status: incomplete, has not updated since 2021.

HOCKEY AU HOCKEY AU

Hockey aus really have it all. The banter. The rivals. The “we’re just homies. What do you mean I’m sending mixed signals.” The inherent homoeroticism of hockey. The “fellas is it gay to get in a fight on the ice so fast you forget to take your gloves off because some guy called your Good Friend over there a slur and like. I’m not gay or anything but also-”. And also men with muscles and a couple braincells but those only work occasionally. The chemistry.

This one would be tied for first but it’s still really early on and hasn’t updated in. A while.

3. Out of the Night That Covers Me by inexplicifics

Status: complete

Ough we love hurt/comfort and being kind in a world that is determined not to be. I love. Kind men with massive muscles who are so so so self-aware (but sometimes also stick their foot in their mouth real bad) And also terrifying women. I love terrifying women. Uh. Modern au. Everyone’s alive that I can think of.

4. Four Chambers by GilliganGoodfellow

Status: Complete

This one harmed me. It’s the accurate portrayal of grief. Warning for my homies. The Cat stays dead in this one. Had me wrecked for Amounts of Time

Rest of that series also bops and slaps. While I do love Complicated Feelings Towards Vesemir (he’s trying. He was part of an institution of child abuse. He didn’t have power to change anything. He was still part of it. He did the best he could. Maybe it wasn’t enough. He tried. Trying only gets you so far). Papa Vesemir ALSO has a place in my heart.

5. Denial by tnico

Status: complete

Author knows more weird little facts than I do. Scratches my brain. All of their works that I’ve read are stupidly good.

6. A Beginner’s Guide to Exploiting the Kaedweni Tax Code for Fun and Profit by heronfem

hi! this is the bunch-a-questions anon. this wont be an ask ask. thank you for answering! it really gives me so much insight about tools and processes, i really enjoy seeing/reading how different artists have different ways in approaching creation of art. it’s all so interesting to me

and oooh i know what you mean about looking at a lot of different artists! it’s inspiration!! i find those things to be amazing too, it’s so cool. it’s like “this spot is inspired by an artist” “this artist draws this like this, so i wanted to try” “i think the way an artist drew this was neat and i wanted to try an implement it” it reminds me of that one post how we, as people, are a mosiac of other people and i believe it to be the same for how artists are too with their art

i feel inspired by the way you draw….. everything!!! it gets me pumped to try and replicate the way you do some things. like the shapes you create, the colors you choose, the way your lineart seems to be so flowy, how dynamic everything feels and how different each drawing you create is from one another (i saw you reblog that meme of like “why shouldnt i draw characters from the waist up and that is SO me, but it’s shoulders up” because drawing full bodies makes mh drawings feel so stiff, i need to practice more!!), the poses of the characters. just.. every aspect of your art is so, so, so nice!!

the way you draw, in all your styles, it’s definitely one of the ones that is such a good scratch to my brain. it gets me all giddy and happy! i’m not sure if i’ll get into jwri, mostly because my attention span will not let me be able sit and focus on listening before i get distracted and miss context on parts, BUT i still go to your blog almost every day just so i can see your art, no matter what it is, no matter who the characters are because it’s always so so good and i love taking it in. (will eat your art if i could, i am so serious)

this was a long one but yeah! i just wanted to let you know how awesome i see your art is! and how i also think youre a cool person, you seem like such a good peep to hang out it! might be weird to say but if you were a blorbo, you would be one of the most blorbiest blorbos to blorbo ever

its okay if you can't get into jrwi, i get it! i didn't think i would get into it as well and after binging all the episodes i honestly forgot why i even started listening in the first place. remembered recently tho! it was because i was going a little crazy while making the picrew and needed some actual talking in the background instead of just music. so, if you ever decide to give it a try, or listen to something else equally as lengthy, try to busy your hands with something that doesn't require a lot of thinking! it helps me at least! worked both with jrwi and tma. it's like, doing something monotonous (knitting, sorting files, cleaning the house, etc) can be incredibly boring if i sit in silence and let my mind wonder. alternatively, listening to something long or watching a long movie can be incredibly boring as well because i struggle to pay attention to the same thing for two hours. but combining these is really good, because it keeps both my mind and hands busy, but not overwhelmingly so!

and ough ough ough thank you again for such heartwarming message! im so happy to hear that you feel inspired by my art, and i wish you good luck in your own art journey!!!!!!! remember to have fun and listen to yourself and do things that you find interesting and that you enjoy! don't force yourself to draw stuff you don't like! all art is personal and individual, so don't be afraid to make things "you"! you don't have to do clean line, you don't have to do lines at all, you don't have to do coloring or shading, if you don't like it! and if you do like it or are excited to try, you should go for it! don't be afraid to change and grow but don't force yourself into it!

Actually one of my favorite instances of "people being dicks about IDW Optimus on posts about IDW/Optimus/MegOP" was when I saw a commentator claim with their whole ass "Megatron deserves better than Optimus" like.

Bestie.

Megatron killed billions of people.

He himself would deny the notion that he "deserves" anything bc he's incredibly depressed about wasting his life on atrocities and, by the end of the series, thinks wholeheartedly that submitting to a trial to give the galaxy its justice is more important to him than living a carefree life.

And even if you don't ship MegOP, Megatron speaks positively of Optimus multiple times and is happy, or at least more animated, whenever he speaks to OP.

It's just so funny to talk about "deserving a better lover" in reference to a blood stained imperialist who himself would admit to his own villainy and doesn't see himself as superior to anyone just because he was right once upon a time. Like bestie your own blorbo would not agree with your take that Optimus is just The Worst and completely unrespectable. So funny.

Actually wait no. My FAVORITE (and imagine I say "favorite" with intense scorn and disgust) instance of someone being a dick about IDW OP in a space about IDW OP, was someone commenting on an IDW MegOP multichapter fic-- clearly something the author must love and put a lot of effort in to write like 300,000 words about them-- to go "WHINE WHINE WHY ARE YOU WRITING IDW OPTIMUS HE SUCKS, MOAN MOAN NOBODY WRITES ABOUT IDW MEGOP BC IT'S BORING AND MEGATRON DESERVES BETTER, BITCH BITCH WHINE YOU SHOULD WRITE MEGAROD OR MEGSMAGS INSTEAD"

The sheer fucking entitlement of coming onto someone's IDW Megop fic to insult the character and ship they're writing about, then demand they write about YOUR favorite ship bc you think their ship is stupid and boring. Ough it was literally the worst thing I'd ever seen short of actively harassing and trying to get someone to quit writing (those instances weren't IDW OP related, just trolls being assholes).

Or the various times scrolling the Megop tag going "oh wow cool fanart :) " and then the tags are "this isn't IDW OP btw because he SUCKS ASS and I hate him." Or going "oh wow this artist makes a lot of megop let me check their blog" and seeing a seemingly innocuous post of them talking about G1 Megop, then out of nowhere they go "btw fuck IDW OP". Or just going on someone's blog bc they make cool content in general and seeing them go "IDW Megatron is so cool! [Sentences about why they enjoy him.] Also I think IDW OP should die in a ditch."

I kinda assumed that MegOP spaces would be safe, since y'know if they ship MegOP it makes sense that they like both characters? Plus, Megatron is sooo hated and there's so much discourse around him, but that means that Megatron fans probably guard their own spaces against hate and know what it's like to have their faves shit on constantly with tons of petty drama? NOPE literally met multiple IDW Megatron stans who would get so mad about people calling their fave problematic, then would turn around and go "lmao who would like IDW Optimus, no one likes him, I ship Megatron with dockworker or archivist OP because they're so much better than him. IDW OP is a fucking asshole I hate him." Like MMMMMMMM I kinda thought that in a space dedicated to liking Optimus/Megatron/Optimus and Megatron kissing each other, there wouldn't be people randomly shitting on the characters, but oh well. Just leave those spaces.

Well not to worry, I can always go to AO3 and look at fic, that's an archive site and not social media, and all I need to do is filter the tags to IDW Megop and I'll have everything I need!

OUGH SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG i needed to stew this in my brain because ouuuughhhh I have so many guys running around in my brain SDFGH BUT!! decided to just focus on the main characters of my story <3

These are Laurel Romero (Left) and Olive Ignaz (Right)! They are detectives... Kind of.

Laurel is a detective who has been working with the police for a few years already. Soon after a very intense assassination case where he accused and got a high-ranking member of the military arrested (U know, the thing you Don't Do if you value your life), this mysterious woman enters the force and he is convinced she is some kind of spy meaning to take him down...

And for Olive... Let's just say she is a woman who is trying to investigate her own murder and getting in some very dangerous situations to do so ;)

The two have what basically amounts to a "Rivals to lovers" dynamic they are sooo sure the other is out to get them lmao The two hold a lot of secrets and they both thought they were being so sneaky about it until they meet someone else stubborn enough to push back and now they try to one-up each other at any chance... Oh when my rivalry with you pushes me to become better and actually be passionate about the things I do!!

Their story is divided in two parts- Part 1 occurs in 1987, and part 2 occurs in 1994 with a 7 years time skip. In part 1 they are in the police force as detectives trying to solve a military ploy during election year, and in part 2 they are part of a reform program and start working alongside a private detective and his huuh... "Assistant", to solve a series of murders related somehow to the events of 1987. I hold them very dearly and shake them between my teeth GRR GRRR

ANYWAY AGAIN THESE ARE MY MAIN WIWIS <3 although DFGHJK I want to make a shutout to the actual main blorbo of my brain- Venture!

She is the character I play in an online RP campaign called Waywards to Wilds! Is about magical cats and she is literally the center of my brain <3 I choose not to talk too in-dept here about her because a lot of people already know who she is/what they are about and I wanted to talk about my other OCs, but just know that they are the character I talk about/draw the most of!

I've been. Jeez okay. So.

You know how they tell you not to compare your art to other people? I've been doing that but with ocs.

Which sounds stupid. It is. But it's still been happening. Everyone has such complex, interesting ocs and I just have. What I have.

So I stopped talking about them. Out of like shame I guess. Embarrassment. It felt like I walked into the MoMA and proudly offered macaroni art.

And I just want to make it clear that this is a me problem. Obviously it's nobody's fault but my own hangups and such. Everyone here is so talented and have neat little guys.

I am jealous in the sense that like. I wish I wasn't like this. Everyone loves their own little guys but on bad days I resent mine. I had made a half joke post on bluesky about the topic and someone (no hate to them intended, they were trying to be kind and reassuring) replied that I should like my ocs because they're mine. But that's the whole problem, y'know?

Ough. Okay anyway, the point:

That's why my asks are closed when I make/reblog ask games. That's why I haven't mentioned any OCs for a while. I don't feel that they're good enough to be allowed in the playground with everyone else's little guys.

I'm trying to stay silly™️ in spite of that. At the very least I can try to show my friends' guys off.

you should definitely catch up on the latest chapters of The Fic because ough so many happenings. and revelations. you didnt even get to the WEDDING NIGHT!! AND you should absolutely rewatch merlin because the added context the fic provides for some scenes is. aaaaaa (dats me yellin). also the posts you would make would entertain me greatly.

i keep thinking about how the bulk of the fic is made of dialogue and most of it is characters HURTING one another with words and talking past each other but then the love shines through and i'm like augh it's worth it. at the end of the day they are simply in love. if only they could understand what only I, the reader, can understand. my blorbos who have a billion things wrong with them. i loooove how "subtly" unreliable arthur's narration is and it made me realise how few fics utilize his POV. sidenote, good god how enamored i have become with george's character (gryff !!!!), can't wait for him to tell his Story

the w. oh god. honestly if I leave it a bit longer and rewatch merlin I could very well reread the whole thing and THEN go back and read the final book at which point the author will surely have updated/finished-(please?) - YEAH I think it's such a remarkable achievement of like. Character and trusting the reader and knowing that the characters are fucking lying especially Merlin. And the use of Arthur's POV to like... YOU the reader are also doubting Merlin and believing him to be good but the way that boy is acting you go through the emotional journey Arthur does about it right there with him because there's just ZERO insight into what the Hell is going on over there - but also you as the reader do have the extra information that like. Well It Is An Arthur/Merlin Fic. And there's so many words of you having to have faith that things will work out. JUST LIKE ARTHUR ABOUT CAMELOT... One of the few fics where I was really there stressed I'd committed like 300,000 words in and it might not all be okay in the end I MEAN I STILL DON'T KNOW REALLY WHERE THE ENDING WILL LAND... Oh my god yeah it's one of those occassions where an expanded-upon canon character absolutely fucking slays obsessed with him. SO GOOD!!! Man I'm so glad you read it so I also can talk about it with you ahhahaha

5. What is something they like to do together?

Ah, many things! Firstly, I can see them enjoying learning from each other since they're both very inquisitive—Jia teaches Miraak alchemy, while he teaches her magic, mostly restoration and alteration. They like cooking together (Miraak's not there yet, but he tries okay; he loves eating though! 🥲), and they even like to stay close in comfortable silence; I promise, though, Jia loves it when listens to him humming Atmoran shanties and/or psalms from his Dragon Priest era! Having been out of Apocrypha, she knows he'd appreciate walks in the sun and picnics in the frosty woods by Heljarchen Hall, as well as gazing at the aurora and the stars at night, feeding the birds nestling in her roof tiles, tending the flowers in her garden, and generally, being reintroduced to the world with her helping him remember every single detail...🥰

31. How would they describe one another.

Due to the nature of their soul bond (which hasn't been clarified completely in my fic yet...👀) I can only imagine them describing one another the way Emily Bronte did it in Wuthering Heights, which is to say not so romantic, but with a tint of pain and inevitability instead:

“He is more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same. If all else perished and he remained, I should still continue to be, and if all else remained, and we were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger. He’s always, always in my mind; not as a pleasure to myself, but as my own being.”

32. Can they communicate private thoughts whilst in company? If so, how?

I mean,,, they can read each other's minds if they try hard enough! There's a scene in my fic where Miraak just. skims through Jia's memories and almost uncovers her worst fear (wow, rude much, Miraak? 😤). Also, they tend to recognize each other's mannerisms. For example, Jia has very specific ways she moves when she's nervous, angry, excited, etc, and Miraak, being very observant, knows how to interpret them even if she can't speak her mind at a specific moment, and vice versa.

38. What would be their ideal evening in?

So, both in Heljarchen Hall and Breezehome, Jia has purposely left a piece of her wooden canopy a little open (just so, she can't stand the cold!), so the light of the night sky always slips right into her room. I imagine an ideal evening in would be her lying in bed with Miraak, both moonbathed, talking to each other, discussing everything, good and bad, tales and real segments of their lives, until the night eventually turns into day, and instead of starlight/moonglow, they are cloaked by the warmth of the sunlight and birbs' chirps...🥰

40. THE OLD WITCH SLEEP AND THE GOOD MAN GRACE BY THE AMAZING DEVIL.

Their shared trauma, their pain, their despair, their attempts to give strength to one another ["You're better than this" He says as a hand slaps my face and I stand And say, "No good man grace" I can't do this (you can)] AND ["Oh, sleep now," oh, she pleads "You're not a coward 'cause you cower You're brave because they broke you Yet broken still you breathe So breathe, breathe, just breathe"]

Not to mention the "'Cause you are in the earth of me", which for Plot Significance makes me jump around like a monkey. Ough. Just Ough...

61. How would they describe their S/O in one word?

Miraak for Jia: ember (a smouldering one...👀)

Jia for Miraak: angel (a bit fallen and corrupted but an angel nonetheless 😅)

I can't help with Greek, but I have a few guesses for the italian pet names you mentioned in that Raath ask!

First that comes to mind is "ciccio"/"ciccia" which means "meat" but is used as a cute nickname for children and pets too... If you want to go even cuter, "ciccino"/"ciccina" could work but because the -ino/-ina is used to talk about small things, it might come across as slightly condescending for adults lol

A pet name that is more used at least where I'm from, is "patatone"/"patatona" which is of course, "big potato" <3

Add "mio" or "mia" to of any of these to get "my (pet name)"!

(In my examples there's the masculine version first and then the feminine version... Sorry to the folks who use gender neutral pronouns, italian is still behind on inclusive language, lately we've started trying to use -ə as a neutral vowel but it's not officially accepted 😔 You would say, "ciccinə miə" etc in that case)

ough thank you for the input! I've heard patatone/a before- that's seriously cute ahhgh. I've also heard patata mia- who would have thought such a robust collection of potato based petnames exist.

One i go for with raath fairly often is little bird / my little bird which I think is uccellino mio in Italian but he def says it in a way that makes you think of a small fluttery thing in a cage and less of a pretty songbird being doted on. In Greek i'm pretty sure it's “πουλάκι μου” / poulaki mou, with the -aki suffix being the diminutive ender. I also kinda like it cause in my English speaking brain he sounds like he's calling you poultry (and he kinda is via the vibes). I feel like he'd be partial to diminutives too to utilize the slightly condescending factor there since he loves to play up how strong and potent he is. But yes, I'm such a language dork I have a lot of fun digging into blorbo dialects and speech patterns and petnames are an important cornerstone of that lmfao.
