Kandra under the Lord Ruler:
"We obey the Contract. Without rules we are no better than wild beasts. We must always act with dignity befitting our noble place as servants of the Lord Ruler."
Kandra under Harmony:
17 Kandra surround an undulating mass of limbs chanting "ONE MORE LIMB! ONE MORE LIMB!"
The mass in the middle shouts, "Okay! I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna make another leg!"
A new leg emerges from the mass, the other Kandra lose their shit over it.

"Vin is a small girl who walks around with a huge wolfhound! She's got big scary dog privilege 🥰"
Wrong.
Elend has scary dog privilege because of Vin. TenSoon is more like the puppy you get your dog so they feel less lonely.

On one hand, there's the Sleepless, who are trying very hard to look human, and getting ever better, but somehow not quite there yet.
On the other hand, there's thr kandra, who have always been the perfect imposters of human, but now getting weirder about it.

I just finished Tress, and let me just say Dr. Ulaam was definitely a favorite (I love imagining how insufferable he was to Hoid with those quotes post-curse-breaking)
ID: We see Dr. Ulaam and Hoid standing together in front of a green, sporeish background. Dr. Ulaam has greyed skin, and wears a tight black suit with no buttons. His eyes are red, and staring down at an open blue book he holds in his right hand. His left hand is spread across his chest, with 6 fingers showing, 2 of which wear rings. He’s smiling with many teeth showing, saying “This is one of my favorites” to a frustrated looking Hoid. Hoid has tan skin and white hair, and is wearing an orange, flowery hawaiian shirt over a grey cotton shirt that says “I survived the crimson sea and all I got was this t-shirt”, this shirt is tucked into a pair of sequined red briefs.

I can’t lie, TenSoon has got to be my overall favourite ever Mistborn character.
!Spoilers!
Like, I don’t know how to explain it, there’s just something so likeable about his way of thinking and how you grow to relate with him throughout the book. So much so that when it’s revealed he’s the imposter, you don’t hate him for it, I personally just wanted to see more of him.
During the last part of the last book especially, when he went looking for Vin and running around the world trying to find her, you can tell his attitude towards her has changed as surely as his loyalties towards his own kind. The times where he did things out of impulse and you got to see how he truly felt - the fact that he was willing to kill himself when he felt Ruin take control, and when Vin got attacked at Elend’s assembly he protected her against his own Contract. Peak character arc there, I knew how it would go as soon as I saw them warming up to each other and I loved it nonetheless.
RIP TenSoon :C

Questioner: My favorite god, Sazed/Harmony, in my recent reread I got a bit angry at him because he didn’t let kandra be able to reproduce, but he let the koloss be able to do it. And I’m wondering if there’s a way he could have allowed that, but he chose not to?
And also if there’s a way that it could happen in the future, so that two of my favorite people could have a baby?
Brandon Sanderson: There are a couple things that he was facing, and let me walk you through his philosophy on this, which you are allowed to disagree with. I want, for every character I write, there to be things they do that you disagree with, because otherwise I’m writing all characters to be the same person, if that makes sense.
The kandra have immortality and are able to perpetuate their culture by being immortal for as long as the individuals live. The koloss don’t have that, meaning that if he didn’t make koloss able to breed true, the entire people vanish in one generation and all culture associated with them. And so because of that, he took the extra effort to change the koloss to allow for this sort of thing.
But he did it in such a way that they would not have to have hemalurgic spikes, because the idea of making new hemalurgic spikes is extremely distasteful to Harmony. Reusing old ones is a thing he was willing to allow, but new ones he didn’t.
Could he have changed the kandra to be similar? Well, the answer is kind of a fairly... yes, but they would no longer have been the kandra, they would have been rolled back to being what they were before the Lord Ruler. And so they basically would stop being what they are that makes them unique as a culture. And he decided not to do that.
You can disagree with that, and I think there are some pretty valid arguments against the choice he made, but that is the choice he made.
Is there a way going forward? Yes, this is theoretically possible.

Do the Kandra from the Mistborn series count? They're shapeshifters that eat bones, meaning they can take on male or female bodies. They are made from Mistwraiths (mindless bone-eating creatures), after all, using Hemalurgy to give them sentience. Mistwraiths, however, used to be people... but they canonically have no sentience and take on a completely new identity once turned into Kandra.
So do they apply for the unconventional birth clause?
Also... this is like. Massive spoilers for the Mistborn series so do tag accordingly
Yes, the Kandra from the Mistborn series could kill Macbeth!

They are indeed genderless(?) shapeshifters created through Hemalurgic spikes, which applies them for the Unconventional Birth Clause and Gender Clause, though they are not able to procure these spikes on their own, and require the Lord Ruler to provide them. One could argue that the Lord Ruler would then be attributed as their birth parent, applying them for the Birth Parent Clause!
Thank you for your submission!
