Elain dimpled her way. Held, shoulders aching iron, neck prickled with a discomfort, a fear that was pure instinct, moving only when her smile- her grandmother's smile- was met head on in interest.

"Amren," Elain did not swallow, did not show her dry mouth, "We have a gift."

"We?"

A tip of the head. Lucien swept smoothly forward, low, to place the box before her. "Archeron."

"Not him?" Amren addressed only Elain, "Not a treat, a feast, little lost light? I've never tasted the sun and moon in one."

Not a shake, not a waver, Elain imagined Nesta's knife blade frown. The smile that was not a smile at all, gentry cut direct. "House Archeron does not sacrifice it's own."

A snort, gentle derision, melted all of Elain's fear in one blast. All the honor she'd ever had, burnt to nothing by her youngest sister.

Amren watched on, unblinkingly. Elain walked forward, respectful distance damned, and ripped open the lid. Did not flinch at the fresh scent of gore, the neat bed of the finest mortal lace soaking up blood.

Could you like, imagine if Rei was his daughter he didn't know what to do with, she's strong and cold but doesn't particularly want to be a villain, and he doesn't much want her to be one either, not in any way that threatens his stuff or her life at least. But then he hears Endeavor's been looking around for a match and he thinks "oh, there's no way he's gonna fall for an ice match right, he knows that would end awful right" but uh he fell for the match and the fake family in need and Rei's beautiful but aloof air, so,,, why not stick with it and see where it goes? it'll be good blackmail material, right? and its not like his daughter has a life of her own, or anything. he can bring her back to the base after and no one is any wiser, and she'll hate heroes even more and- kid?? and a second kid so soon? does she just want to get it over with? well seems like it's working, his underling tells him Touya is having problems with his quirk, but now instead of divorce and setting himself up for blackmail, Endeavor just keeps trying?? now four grandkids?? and Rei, showing her nerves on the phonecall with him for the first time in years, tells him that Touya tried to kill his baby brother and this one actually had the quirk Endeavor wanted and AfO thought impossible?? AfO decides nows the time to collect his family back and gets Touya before he can completely burn up, but Rei realizes she'd rather have her kids stuck with Enji than AfO, so she chooses to burn Shoto's face so Enji keeps him close and sends her away and??? i dunno she just hopes everyone forgets about Fuyumi and Natsuo because they're safer ignored and neglected than anything else???

I feel like she's a creature in flux, really - some days she thinks of herself as a hopeless monster-in-the-making, and some days she feels more like her old self - just a young woman trying to get by in a lonely, dog-eat-dog world! She's trying to be a relatively good person, and tries to 'offset' the bad she does, but... she's chaotic! In flux! Maybe one day she'll figure out who she really is and what she wants out of life.

How do they want to be seen by others?

I don't think she knows, yet. She's trying on different hats! But the main one she's been trying on is 'The witty, edgy wallflower'... because what else can you be when you're half a demon? But if she can glamour her horns away for a bit, she feels a little better about being more up front and friendly and approachable, because... she feels like those are a big stain on her, or something? Like people see demon horns, and immediately assume the worst - and maybe it's because she used to be a paladin, and so she remembers how much she did - and still does - hate demons, herself. In reality, she'd just like to be perceived as she is - a chill, loyal friend. She's young, and would prefer to be carefree, and seen as as much, but life didn't pass her that ball. (But she's a lot more laid back than even she will admit - she just worries a lot.)

What is their life motto?

Do people generally have those? I mean, there's a few 'phrases to live by' that the various men she looked up to and learned from taught her - things about surviving against all odds, how it's always fair to cheat... and 'Once crew, always crew.' A lot of lessons about loyalty and enduring strife. ...from people who abandoned her in her moment of strife.
