WIP Wednesday
Just NHS gaslighting an entire town :3 more from my wild west au
With that taken care of, Nie Huaisang brushed his palms against his trousers and held his head high as he walked into Jin Guangyao’s office.
The chaos was beautiful.
Nie Huaisang sat down in the only available chair as everyone screamed at everyone else. Nie Huaisang recognized a few lawmen, and Su Minshan was there as well.
Jin Guangyao raised a hand and everyone fell silent. “Huaisang,” he said slowly.
“Yes?” Nie Huaisang asked with a cheery smile.
“You were arrested and placed in jail,” Jin Guangyao said.
“No, I wasn’t,” Nie Huaisang said pleasantly. “I’m not in jail.”
“I can see that,” Jin Guangyao said. He smiled that strained smile he affected sometimes to keep his eyebrow from ticking. “However, you were arrested and placed in jail.”
“Then why am I here and not in jail?” Nie Huaisang asked.
“An excellent question,” Jin Guangyao said. He folded his hands in front of him. “Why are you here and not in jail?”
“I have some questions,” Nie Huaisang said. He smiled again.
“That explains why you’re here,” Jin Guangyao said. “Why are you not in jail?”
“Why would I be?” Nie Huaisang asked, eyes owlishly wide.
Jin Guangyao’s eyebrow ticked, and he tried to suppress it with his fake, placid smile. “Because you were arrested.”
“No, I wasn’t,” Nie Huaisang repeated.

so i saw this post about how modern nhs would use his phone as a equivalent of a fan. and tricking people into thinking he's not listening when is. and i added my own 5 cents and now i have a drabble! unspecified modern au with nhs as wwx's and jc's problem radar because it's not the gusu trio if they don't get themselves into some problems! unedited + written late, i might expand this au later... maybe
He was a party soul, honestly. He loved going out and spending time with people, listening to music, dancing, and anything but spending time studying. And it was no surprise that Huaisang was now sitting on someone's couch, in someone's house, he didn't really know the owner– But a good party wasn't happening every day!
"...nah, no, we'll deal with him quickly."
He was alone though, with only his phone to keep him company. But it wasn't a problem really, he hadn't checked his Instagram feed for an hour now, so he had plenty of things to waste time on. Until someone comes up to dance with him.
"Are you sure?"
He sighed. It would be great if someone did... Despite all his love for social media and all, he didn't really want to spend this whole night just on his phone, listening to the party noises.
"Obviously! Come on, he's just a fucking brat who thinks he's in power now. All bark but no fucking bite."
His finger stopped mid-scrolling, his attention caught by a photo posted by one of his friends. Eh, Jiang Cheng wasn't a person to post anything often, so it was a big occasion! He tapped the screen twice and quickly opened the comments section.
"I don't know, he seems strong... he beat up two people at once."
He typed a short comment about the photo and how shocking it is to see him active at all, before closing off the app. Though, he was even more surprised to see that almost instantly he got a notification back.
"But they were unprepared losers. I'll get the old man's people, get some knives or something and we will fucking deal with the fucker."
It took him no time to open direct messages with Jiang Cheng, seeing that he was online. He was bored, alright? And Jiang Cheng was the perfect person to text! Well, maybe because he was sometimes funny to tease...
"...you want to kill him?"
He texted him about how he was at some boring party and had no one to dance with, he had no one else to bother in other words. As if Jiang Cheng cared, was the reply.
"Nah, wouldn't risk jail because of trash like him. Just stab him to show who's actually in power and that's it. A warning, you know."
Nie Huaisang sighed heavily and clicked out of the app again. He stared at the screen for a moment and opened the camera instead. He posed to the camera, opting for the same, well known pose he had in most of his party photos.
"I don't want to deal with his brother if anything serious happens to him, though."
It took him a moment to actually make a good photo, good quality, and all in this party lighting, but he looked super cute! He opened Instagram again and posted the said picture. He couldn't be bothered with a good caption, so instead, he just put the first emoji he had in his recent ones and tapped "post".
"Ha! As if he cares about this annoying orphan... He will thank us for dealing with him, watch it."
And then, he opened his direct messages with Jiang Cheng again.
you: you better watch ur brother btw
jiang cheng: why
you: [pic]
The photo was showing two guys sitting near the couch Huaisang was occupying. If they were a little less obnoxious and not so fucking loud, maybe he wouldn't hear their full conversation and their plan would succeed, but, well! Maybe if they cared about their surroundings more.
you: ive been listening to them talk for some time
you: and they might be out for wei-xiongs blood
you: this time literally
jiang cheng: fuck
jiang cheng: what the fuck
you: take care, you two
Nie Huaisang tapped out of the app and raised his eyes from the phone. His gaze lingered on the two men, talking loudly and drinking some random liquor he was sure wasn't even party sponsored until his phone screen went black.
Well, he should sit around for some more, maybe. Who knows what else he would accidentally hear? He pulled out his earphones. This is going to be a long, long night it seems.

Hey there,
Then maybe something for your OTHER beauty and the beast SangYao (?) AU?
I didn't even notice at first (I do love the snake one too), but I meant the one where Huaisang is on the run from wen soldiers, and stumbles into cursed Meng Yao's/Jin Guangyao's gothic mansion
(For those wondering, nonnie means the second concept in this post. Also, this ended up being a two-parter because I couldn't decide on POV and @micchikureshima made a good case for "por que no los dos?")
---------------
Meng Yao had long gotten used to the sound of water. With little material to use and no tools at all, his attempts to repair the roof of this place had amounted to practically nothing, and the house was in an area that practically invited rain.
So it wasn't the drumming and trickling from the holes in the roof that roused him from his dozing.
It was voices.
Immediately, he was on his guard. While it had been, according to his tally scratches on the wall of his room, over a year since the last time his father had sent opportunistic idiots his way, he wasn't stupid or hopeful enough to think the man had given up on getting rid of him.
Seeing no reason to make finding him easy, he gathered the shadows around him and let the fangs and fur come, then crept out the door to peer over the balcony.
His 'guests' were almost always rogues or outer disciples from some minor sect, looking to make a name for themselves and gain a little more prestige for their leaders at the grown-ups' table. The last time he'd made a notation under the day's tally mark for anyone from a major sect had been...
Well, he could refresh his memory later. It had been a very long time, at any rate, so he was more than a little surprised to see not one or two, but six cultivators wearing the white and red flames of the Wen sect gathered in a knot just inside the doors to the main hall.
For a moment, panic clawed its way up his throat, the fur down his spine and tail bristling on end. Had his father finally gotten so fed up with his existence as to pay for legitimate assassins? And he'd never had to fight this many before, what if they-
Wait... no... their attention was focused on something else. One of them viciously kicked a bundle of sodden green and grey clothing that lay on the floor, and Meng Yao couldn't help wincing when he realized that the 'bundle' was, in fact, a boy.
Wait... green and grey...
Why were a bunch of Wens chasing and abusing a Nie? Here? Admittedly, he couldn't keep track of anything like intersect politics when he couldn't even go out to the front yard, but according to what he'd heard on the way to meet his father, all of the major sects were in some sort of coldly polite stalemate. Had something drastic changed outside?
He didn't have time to ruminate on the question, as one of the cultivators finally looked up from their target, and then nudged another.
"Hey. Isn't this the house? The one Jin-zongzhu's always complaining about?"
The second man craned his neck to look around the main hall, then pulled a scroll sealed with a waterproofing talisman out of his sleeve and opened it.
A map.
His jail was on maps now?
Apparently so, because the man holding it grinned. "It is. Damn, today might actually be a good day if we could hand the little bitch and Jin-zongzhu's eternal gratitude to Wen-da-gongzi."
"Let's get to it, then," the one who'd kicked the boy -the one he assumed was the leader- said as he bent down and dragged the boy up by the hair. "Spread out in pairs and start laying-"
Oh, no.
No, no, no.
While it might have been easier to pick them off once they split up, he absolutely couldn't risk giving them time to start setting traps. The closest anyone had come to killing him had been the prick who'd decided to turn one of the few rooms that still had solid flooring into a maze of wire snares and then had chased him into it, and he was not putting up with that nonsense again.
A low growl building in his throat, he jumped up onto the balcony railing and then launched himself at the still speaking human, snapping his jaws shut on the man's neck before he'd finished giving the order.
The man immediately fell backwards under his weight to land on the floor hard, dropping the boy in the process, and he wrenched his head to finish tearing out the throat before whipping around to go for the next.
He'd managed to catch them off guard, but by the time he'd downed the second one, the last four had all drawn their swords.
Pulling the shadows from all the corners of the room, he dropped down through the floorboards and the reformed himself at their backs to maintain the element of surprise.
When the last cultivator fell dead, he stood in the doorway, head down, teeth bared, fur bristling, panting for breath in an effort to calm his defensive instinct back down. When he'd finally regained his composure, he slowly reconstructed himself back into his human shape before approaching the boy and rolling him onto his back to take a better look.
Huh. He'd be pretty if it weren't for the black eye and the dried blood under his nose. Despite having been roughly manhandled, his hair still held a number of intricate little braids and his clothing, though ripped and dirty and soaking wet, was of high quality.
A member of the inner family, maybe?
Curiosity ate at him, and the only way he'd get answers was if he made sure that the boy recovered enough to wake up.
Deciding he'd deal with the bodies of the other 'guests' later, he easily scooped the boy into his arms and headed deeper in the house towards one of the fireplaces he knew could still be used.

mdzs au but they're all idols from different generations
wen ruohan, qingheng-jun, jin guangshan, jiang fengmian and sect leader nie were all part of a extremely successful boyband, that disbanded after their 15th year
what happened after they disbanded: nie-die died, leaving two kids, at first they thought it was suicide, but after deep investigation, they found out it was wen ruohan's fault, so he was send to jail, because of that, the public got to know that the group was actually very afraid of him and never got along very well, and his the reason why qingheng-jun went into hiatus way before their disband and was the first to give up idol life (he was also the first one to marry, to the hate of his fans); also, another factor for their disband was jin guangshan's....... whoreness
cangse sanren was an solo idol, very successful, with the guidance of legendary singer baoshan sanren
yu ziyuan was part of small, almost unknown, girl group, jfm's fans also hate her very much (they used to ship him with cssr before she married his bff from school and indie singer, wei changze, they ended up being the couple's fans)
(in this au no parent die, besides nie-die, sorry bud, it's for the plot)
they decide to try and create a sect leaders boyband 2.0, with their offspring - lan xichen (lwj was invented, but declined), jin zixuan, jiang cheng and nie mingjue, but it wasn't as successful, and didn't even reach 7 years before disband (and what a party for the tabloids! to know that some members kept fighting all the time)
wei wuxian decided not to be a singer, although his voice is quite good, he isn't too god at writing or composing either, so he's now an known artist with murals throughout the country, and is bff with nie huaisang, who's also an artist (and actor! very praises and sought after, he has some awards)
lan wangji is songwriter and compositor, he helped his brother when he debuted and kept supporting him when his group disbanded and lxc decided to change careers and be an actor now. lwj's songs are almost always a huge success, he even got some awards on his shelf
lan qiren never went into entertainment industry, deciding early on to be a teacher, ironically, he's the boy's teacher and has to talk to all these celebrities about their kid's grades and behavior, he hates it, especially when 1/3 of his class doesn't show up for weeks because of schedule. it's their final year! it should be a crime! ilegal! bad parents and worse managers! he has a deep respect for wangxian for their choices, surprisingly (they have something in common: a need for privacy and anonymity)
jiang cheng redebuted on another group, but it didn't last and wasn't successful, he tried solo career, like jzx, but he soon gave up idol life and went to create his own independent label (he only debuted because his parents wanted, and his mother insisted too much, it wasn't his choice)
nie mingjue also changed careers and became a very successful actor, like lxc, though he often complains about always being a cast as villain or mafia
wwx and lwj meet at school, when wwx was trying to get a bag of alcohol inside the school grounds, they fight a lot at the beginning but before new years break, they were already friends and by their last year - pining like idiots

hi jae im using your ask for the cql infodump.

ok so like we going into the intricacies of these three motherfuckers and why shipping them in certain ways is a little fucked/fundamentally misunderstands their character(s)/etc.
Tumblr media
CW for discussions of a bit of a variety of abuse
NMJ - Nie Mingjue LXC - Lan Xichen JGY/MY - Jin Guangyao/Meng Yao
So: run down for those who may not know these characters and what they're about.
All together, the three are known as the Venerated Triad. The three all played major roles during the Sunshot Campaign-- a war of the Jin, Jiang, Nie, and Lan Sects against the Wen Sect, who was trying to take over all sects --with Nie Mingjue/Chifeng Zun (one in the middle) known for leading the Campaign, Lan Xichen/Zewu Jun (one on the left) Also leading on top of protecting ancient Lan books when the Lan Sect had basically fallen, and Jin Guangyao/Lianfan Zun (one on the right) infiltrating the Wen Sect and sending battle plans to Lan Xichen, which ultimately helped them take down the Wens.
After the Sunshot Campaign ended, the three swore Brotherhood, which is like, really complicated to explain, but in most books in this genre, it can be gay.
So like why is it bad to ship all three if they did one of the gay rituals. Well.
Jin Guangyao initially joined the Nie Sect, then known as Meng Yao, as a form of servant. He was known as the bastard son of Jin Guangshan (the Jin Sect leader), whose mother was a sex worker, and was raised poor despite having the blood of arguably the richest man in the cultivation world. He was bullied to actual hell wherever he went, until it was brought to the attention of Nie Mingjue-- the Nie Sect leader. NMJ defended him, and pretty quickly promotes him to be the second in command of his army, especially after seeing how skilled MY was in this subject. He basically becomes an advisor alongside NMJ, became friends with Nie Huaisang-- NMJ's little brother --and was very well trusted by NMJ. But, despite now having a higher position within the sect, MY was still ridiculed by the General, and quite harshly at that, literally just because his mom was a sex worker. For the drama I guess, MY just DOESN'T tell NMJ about this.
Later on, a mass-murderer named Xue Yang would come to be held in the jail of the Nie Sect. Without anyone else's knowledge, the two were already colluding, as at some point MY was colluding with the Wen Sect? This shit is so confusing on timeline when it comes to CQL it's kind of insane, but anyways, MY already knew Xue Yang, and after a few days of him being held in the jail, Xue Yang miraculously escapes as the Wen Sect very suddenly attacks the Nies.
While this is happening, MY very deliberately kills the General of the Nie Sect RIGHT in front of NMJ. Like NMJ saw the whole thing. But he still has the gal to be like XUE YANG KILLED HIM!!!! XUE YANG KILLED HIM DA-GE PWEAAASSEEE!!!!!!! but they don't really get to dwell on that because someone else tries to attack NMJ-- to which MY saves him by taking the stab in the stomach for him.
Once they manage to get the Wens off their ass, NMJ has MY come to the little Nie meeting room, and is basically like (through tears) WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT MAN. Because again, NMJ trusted MY a lot. MY was, at that time, probably his most trusted guy in the whole sect that wasn't his baby brother, and now he's murdered his general and let an actual insane criminal loose. While NMJ claims the only reason he won't kill MY is because MY saved him during the battle, there is a lot of underlying care that he has for MY, so he just exiles him and boots him out of the Nie Sect.
"why can't that be gay" to me its a very surface level take to just ship them off of this. have some nuance. we'll look into these characters more intimately later.
Now. From here. MY would join the Wen Sect as Wen Rouhan's advisor. And he's REALLY playing up the part-- because at this time, it seems most likely that the Wens will win the war-- so MY would have a high ranking govt. position in the ruling sect. But. Wrenches are thrown into the plan, and eventually, MY realizes that he needs to have an escape route for whenever the Wens tip over, and they're no longer on top.
This is where Lan Xichen comes into play.
At the time, the Lan Sect had been viciously attacked by the Wens, where the vast majority of its people were eliminated, and the Cloud Recesses/where the Lans live had been destroyed. Lan Qiren, Lan Xichen's uncle, instructed LXC to take the ancient texts from the hidden Library of the Lan Sect, and to run. Because, if everyone else did get killed, at least the ancient texts and the Lan Sect Leader would still be alive. And very begrudgingly, LXC does. While running away, MY would save LXC and provide him somewhere to stay-- which gives MY the out that he needs. He gains the trust of at least one of the leaders of the opposing Sects, and because it was trust gained out of mercy, it was something that he could easily use against LXC should it ever come to that.
Over time MY gains more and more of LXC's trust by sending him copies of the Wen battle plans, giving him intel about the Wens, etc. etc.. And as more and more of it proves to be right, the more LXC trusts MY-- even though he had previously betrayed NMJ in a major way. Because NMJ is still pretty pissed/sad about what happened. Though, LXC doesn't tell NMJ that MY is the intel because he knows it would piss him off.
etc etc etc time goes on, the Sunshot Campaign comes to an end with the Wen Sect going under, and MY is revealed to be the intel that saved the other sects. MY goes to the Jin Sect, getting the name Jin Guangyao (which is a whole other post I could go off about (tho in defense of JGY LMFAOO)), along with the title Lianfang Zun. Again, he's basically an advisor guy, except this time it's under his dad who fucking hates him to death.
This is when the three, LXC, NMJ, and JGY, swear brotherhood. And again this may not seem so bad for a ship, but this is a very heavily summarized thing. Let's get into JGY's craving for power.
No matter what context you put JGY in, he will want power. It's a matter of proving himself to a father who doesn't care about him, proving himself to those who ridicule him for having such a "lowly birth", all that-- he's a viciously insecure man. When he was with the Nies, he had a high rank. He was cared for and adored by the ruling family of the sect-- but the Nies weren't the wealthiest or most influential sect. The Nies weren't a small sect by any means, but they weren't the Wens-- who were able to overthrow an entire sect over night, and initially get away with it because the other Sects were too scared to challenge them. And when the Wens were going under, the Jin Sect was once again the most prominent sect-- even if it was NMJ who was leading the whole campaign.
This craving for power was something that NMJ had noticed and would quickly come to oppose, but as he was slowly succumbing to his way of cultivation, people weren't so ready to believe him. He was "irrational and violent", a stark contrast to JGY who seemed to make himself at home with his new position in the Jin Sect. And eventually, NMJ would start to shut his mouth on the matter, especially when not even Lan Xichen would fully listen to him-- and he had a deep amount of trust in LXC. He would start to comply to keep the peace, which meant swearing brotherhood to a man that betrayed him, and letting that man back into his home.
These trips JGY made back to the Nie sect was mostly to perform what I believe was called "Tranquility" for NMJ. The saber spirits that the Nies cultivate are self destructive for its user, which was why NMJ's health overall was starting to decline. He would have outbursts of rage, his mental state was skewed, all that. And Tranquility was meant to help sooth his Qi in hopes of postponing the inevitable-- there wasn't a single Nie Sect leader that lived a full life while cultivating saber spirits.
BUT! BC JGY WAS MAD AT NMJ! JGY altered the score of tranquility in such a subtle way that not even LXC would notice for like, 16 years, and did it in a way that it worsened NMJ's health. So like. For over the course of what. Six Months. JGY was slowly poisoning NMJ through these visits-- and as of canon for Fatal Journey (The Nie Spin off Movie), taught Huaisang this distorted score, which lead to NMJ murdering members of his own sect in a fit of uncontrolled rage. Literally only LXC was playing the right version of Tranquility for NMJ, but he wasn't the one able to make the most visits as he lived the furthest away from Qinghe/the Nie Sect.
But yeah um. NMJs fucked up state lead to the best scene (NMJ kicking JGY down a whole flight of stairs) and the worst scene (NMJ fucking self imploding). He dies because of all this thoguh. Yeah.
now for xichen. my lovely webkins plushie soaked in milk that gets slammed against a wall 20 times in a row.
I can't deny that Xiyao aka LXC/JGY was like......... a Thing. Ok. But the thing people fail to realize is that Xiyao is an abusive relationship through and through, because JGY only used it as a way to have power. And the thing that trips people up about this is because JGY is human. He's comically evil in every other instance except for his relationship with LXC, which is why people think it was earnest, and that they just didn't get their happy ending because of things JGY did "in the past".
And I won't deny that JGY did have some underlying care for LXC-- because abusers don't ever want to believe that they're doing something bad. He believes he's doing what he's doing for his own sake, that he's in the right because if LXC doesn't have trust in him, then who will? LXC is an influential figure still, even if it's the Jin Sect that's on top. And LXC is the only person who stands up for him regularly within the four major sects.
Xiyao in a plot related setting makes sense. It was a survival tool for JGY. LXC was a gay man who was very vulnerable during the war. His father was killed, his sect was on the brink of total elimination much like the Jiangs, the survival of ancient history was on his shoulders so he needed to survive-- and JGY provided that link. He was LXC's shoulder to cry on, someone he could trust with personal secrets, and while there may have been a genuine connection from JGY as well-- his whole intention with the relationship was to gain power. While LXC may have indulged in sharing secrets, JGY probably never did. Considering he kept the whole music score and murdering their sworn brother a secret.
You can even see how JGY functions relationship wise in maintaining a certain image in how he treats the whole situation with Qin Su-- his wife and um. Half Sister. He love bombs to hell, and when it doesn't work he gets angry and lashes out. I don't think he would have needed to be as unrestricted to LXC as he was Qin Su, because LXC very much............ Has Issues. And I don't think it's helped because his mother was locked up by his father in a cottage for years on end in total isolation. LXC has NOOO basis of a healthy relationship, so I'm sure he accepted what JGY presented at face value. Which is why I think it was so easy for JGY to maintain those lies for literally 16 years.
JGY took advantage of skills taught to him by LXC to murder NMJ. He took advantage of LXC's favor to put him in a good light to the cultivation world, and he was able to get in to the Jin sect with LXC's encouragement. LXC is the literal pillar to JGY's success, and if that pillar falls, he has nothing to back him up.
Sure, he might have Su She, a dedicated follower who did a lot of his dirty work-- but Su She was despised even by LXC. He might have had Xue Yang to fall on for even filthier shit, but Xue Yang was a notorious mass murderer who eliminated a minor clan just because he felt like it. LXC was the ONE guy who he could rely on wholeheartedly to keep his reputation in tact. Which is why he begins to act so irrationally when he sees that he's losing LXC during the Guanyin Temple scene-- which is where JGY dies. AND GET THIS! GET THIS!
JGY DELIBERATELY. PULLS LXC INTO THE COLLAPSING TEMPLE WITH HIM, BEGGING HIM TO FALL WITH HIM-- BUT OH, OH LAST MINUTE HE PUSHES LXC AWAY FROM THE RUIN TO SAVE HIM ONE LAST TIME. SOMETHING THAT WILL STAY ON LXCS CONSCIENCE FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE!
their relationship is BUILT on JGY doing something good for LXC in order to make LXC feel like he owes him. I'm sure over the 16 years there were MANY positive events from JGY that LXC clings onto, but JGY still killed NMJ. He still killed Jin Guangshan, and pushed Qin Su into killing herself. He forced prostitutes into continuing to have sex with JGS even as the man was dying, he killed his own son with Qin Su after finding out they were related, and wiped out a minor sect after blaming them for the death of his son. He falsely accused Mo Xuanyu of sexually harassing Qin Su (or himself if u go off of the novel), and exiled MXY because he just didn't like him. All that! All that under LXCs nose.
so I just. I CAN'T take it when people say oh, i love 3zun because they make each other worse. NMJ and LXC TRIED to make things right between all three of them, and JGY couldn't settle for that. It's two victims and a murderer/abuser. Even when NMJ was still hurt by JGY's betrayal, he would ask LXC how he was doing in the Jin sect. He WANTED things to be better even if he knew things were getting worse, and he bowed his head out of respect for LXC, which would lead to his early death.
When you say shit like oh they make each other worse, I feel like that should only apply to characters who are mutually destructive. LXC was a victim of abuse. NMJ may have argued and fought back, but he was a victim of petty grudges. In an ideal world, NMJ would've been completely content with straightening things out and understanding the circumstances-- but the circumstances here were viciously damning, and JGY only made it worse.
and again like. LXC was a peacemaker. He didn't like that NMJ and JGY hated each other, even if they would be visibly pleasant to one another, he wanted them to go back to the way it had been before the Sunshot Campaign-- which is why I think he proposed the Sworn Brotherhood. But I don't think he knew every single intricacy that lead to the downfall between those two-- a simple solution like that wouldn't work.
And as I mentioned earlier on NMJ's and JGY's relationship to each other being surface level if you shipped them-- this may just be my own interpretation of NMJ, but I very much believe he saw JGY as another little brother. So, on the same level as Nie Huaisang-- who he cares very deeply for. JGY and NHS were around the same age (iirc jgy only a few years older, but not in NMJs age group), the two got along with each other greatly, and i believe both shared similar interests. So. I think the dynamic of NMJ holding JGY to the same standard as NHS is a lot more interesting and takes more things into account. Not every relationship between not-blood-related men needs to be romantic. lmfao. It also just makes the betrayal and how NMJ receives it a lot more personal to me.
These three have such an interesting dynamic to me that can absolutely be explored. Again I won't say that Xiyao is made out of nothing-- there's elements there, but to make them into a cutesy little pair is a vicious disservice to JGY's character, because you can't separate him from his manipulative nature. It's a core part of his character whether you like it or not, taking it away just takes away JGY's appeal. On top of that, shipping them for the abuse aspect is like..................... lmao. It's not mutually destructive. you're weird.
anyways nielan sweep, those two were sucking and fucking on the battlefield. a warriors bond can never be broken
(art by Valdrift, I commissioned this giggles)

@skalidris re: your tags on this post….. agree. like, i similarly am of two minds about whether he would want to do it or have the ability to do it, but he at least deserves one “get out of jail (for punching nie huaisang directly in the face) free” card to use at his discretion.

~ In the morning~
Yao: * still laying in bed, after waking up a few minutes ago*
Huaisang: *holding and looking at Yao's hand*
Ah beautiful.
Yao: yesterday, you have done a great job.
Team dimple trio: *entering*  Jiggybun
Su she: *unsheaths sword* what's he doing here!!
Xue yang: finding a way to kill our Jiggy
Mo xuanyu: wait! What did he say?! Beautiful??
He's flirting with our Yaoyao.
Xue yang: fake!
Su she: the audacity! Don't touch him.
Huaisang: *cries* guys I can explain!!
Yao: guys, relax.
Xue yang: Jiggy.
Mo xuanyu: *sobbing* did he kiss you before us??
(It's a team tradition, where team dimple comes to say good morning to A-Yao, then gives him a kiss and spend some cozy time with him before he starts his day~ then they would have breakfast)
Su she: our Yao Huangdi has been snatched away from us. *whimpering*
Huaisang: team dimple, I was just checking to see if I filed San ge's nails neatly.
Su she: excuses!!
Yao: he's right.
I was waiting for you guys.
Su she: awwwwww.
Mo xuanyu: that's so cute.
Xue yang: move aside, you nie twink.
Huaisang: bossy!
Do you three have Lan xichen to torment?
Mo xuanyu: and you're here?
At least Lan lips respects team dimple.
Xue yang: he literally comes after us.
Su she: I can't believe I'm saying this but you're more annoying than Lan lips.
Huaisang: *moving aside* San ge's team dimple is mean to me.
Xue yang: maybe because we don't like you.
Yao: Chengmei.
Xue yang: if I don't say it to his face, who would, Jiggy?
Hauisang: *sourly* at least let me atone for my mistakes.
Mo xuanyu: we'll be watching you!
Yao: ok. Now stop fighting.
Trio: sure. And good morning, Jiggybun.
Yao: goodmorning darlings.
Xue yang and mo xuanyu: *took turns to kiss him in his dimpled cheeks*
Su she: *kisses him on his hand*
Yao: ah, mornings do become warmer with you three.
And yes.....Huaisang too.
Hauisang: yay!
San ge, I'm hungry. Going to get some food. I'll be back shortly.
Yao: you can eat with us, Huaisang.
Su she: ew.
Xue yang: why Jiggy?
Huaisang: hmpf! I don't wish to eat with team pimple anyways.
Trio: *GASPS*
Mo xuanyu: you fake little twink.
Su she: hey rude.
Xue yang: you feel that you're better than us?
Yao: *laughing slightly* lol, please don't gang up on him. And A-Sang it's ok if you want to have breakfast elsewhere.
Huaisang: ok San ge.
Yao: come back to comb my hair, alright sweetheart.
Huaisang: mn. Yes San ge.
Su she: wash your hands before you do!
Xue yang: you better not hurt him.
Mo xuanyu: I'll be counting Yao gege's dead hair to see if you're trying to bald him on purpose.
Huaisang: now why would I do that?!
Mo xuanyu: because you're wicked.
Xue yang: because you're mischievous.
Su she: because you're Huaisang.
Huaisang: *rolls eyes* (What if I unalive team dimple.....anyways)
Yao: heehee. That's enough bullying.
And A-Sang is a good hairstylist. He's the manager of my hairstylists, for now.
Xue yang: little diva, how many hairstylists do you have?
Yao: 4. Where two are backup. You should know, yangyang.
Huaisang: San ge, what if I handle that hat of yours for you?
Yao: nah, that's only for team dimple.
Mo xuanyu: and Lan Lips.
Huaisang: got you.
See you soon.
*exits* (nah I can't unalive them. That San ge might throw me in jail.)
Yao: *secretly glaring at him as he exited*
Xue yang: something is suspicious about him.
Yao: *crosses his hands on his lap*
Mo xuanyu: maybe. I don't like him.
Su she: yea. Yaoyao even crosses his hands. Obviously he's sensing something.
Yao: no, he's doing good for now, but I want you to keep an eye on him.
*hands xy a piece of candy*
Xue yang: count on us.
Su she: of course we will spy on him.
Yao: and protect my Song'er too.
Mo xuanyu: definitely.
Su she: Song'er is also our responsibility.
Yao: *smile* Good.
~~~~
Later on, A-Yao was teaching Rusong some fun etiquette.
Yao:  Song'er. A proper hulijing in their fox form shouldn't scratch themselves. Especially in public.
We aren't dogs, but sophisticated entities.
Rusong: mn.
But what if we have an urge to scratch?
Yao: then morph back into human form and itch, but delicately.
Rusong: right.
Yao: our fur should always be neat and well nourished. And not only fur, but our clothes and hair should be neat.
Rusong: yea I know that.
Everything is so interesting.
Yao: good that you're learning!
Yao: we aren't supposed to ride the sword, as we're Huangdi and Dianxia. Because of safety purposes.
Rusong: even with an entourage?
Yao: yea. It's kind of hard to save someone from an ambush in the sky, Song'er.
But luckily security is trained to do so.
Rusong: can you tell me about society?
Like are there human and hulijing relationships?
Yao: yup. Many. But they must be careful, as hulijings can suck on human energy.
Rusong: ohh.
Yao: they don't need to.  If they really love the person, they will never want to harm them.
Anyways! Tell me about you. How are things in Yunping?
Rusong: I haven't visited, but I dealt with a little paperwork pertaining to it.
Yao: good!
Rusong: I see there's a little fluctuation though.
Yao: well have your Official decrease the price, A-Song.
He's in charge of Yunping affairs.
Rusong: ok, will do.
Speaking of him, he had suggested some laws and conditions for the Yunping district as well. And is waiting for your approval.
Well for me, I Dianxia approved it in my head already!
Yao: hmm. *pinches cheeks* master of Dianxia approval. Tell me the laws first.
Rusong: *laughing* ok ok, A-Die.
Yunping would no longer be called a district, as it will identify as a state.
It should be illegal to suspect someone as a hulijing, since that humans cultivators also pass through the state.
It should be legal to have one week, nonstop parties. And it should be illegal to have too much alcohol, as hulijings alcohol tolerance are a bit low, and it works as an aphrodisiac.
Yao: right! I approve of all.
Actually this was implemented in other districts belonging to our empire.
Rusong: but A-Die. What's an aphrodisiac?
Yao: *laughing* A-Song you'll know when you're older.
Xue yang: *bursting in* it's HORNI JUICE!
Yao: CHENGMEI!
Mo xuanyu: *running to cover his mouth* not in front of Song'er, xue gege.
Xue yang: it's not my fault that HORNI JUICE exists.
Su she: *sobs* he's too young to know!
Rusong: eavesdropping on us, Team D?
Yao: yea! What a random entrance.
Su she: no Dianxia. We weren't eavesdropping.
Xue yang: we were just looking at how hot Jiggy is.
Yao: I see. Simping fron afar.
Mo xuanyu: yea Yao gege.
Xue yang: as we must.
Su she: we were fighting over which dimple is cuter. Left or right.
Yao: lol. Shanshan, my dimples are the same.
Rusong: what kind of debate is that, Team D!
Xue yang: a very important one.
Rusong: lol, i approve of your debate.
Mo xuanyu: yay! Dianxia approves!
Yao: do you see that he loves to approve of things.
Xue yang: he got that from you.
Mo xuanyu: once again cute. What else does little Dianxia approve of.
Rusong:  I approve of my Pine Pavillion attendants spending the night in the extra rooms if they're too tired to go to their dorm.
Xue yang: how much rooms does pine Pavillion have? You little diva.
Rusong: about 18. 19, including the teahouse. Nothing much.
Mo xuanyu: WHAT?
Xue yang: this is all because of Jiggy.
Yao: what. I must pamper him.
Rusong: also I approved of many other things, heehee.
Down to types of fabric.
Xue yang: diva.
Yao: *laughing* he's the master of Dianxia approval.
.
Next Day~~
Su she: *massaging Yao's shoulders*
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege, is it stressful for you to be this gorgeous and powerful.
Yao: *sighs* sometimes.
I really need to lay in a tub of flowers.
Su she: you deserve it.
Xue yang: what kind of diva thing is that?
Yao: it's for relaxation, yangyang.
Mo xuanyu: aww.
Yi: should I request it for you, Huangdi?
Yao: not yet.
Yi: alright Huangdi.
Xue yang: Jiggybun. I'm so glad that this Huaisang is working for you now.
It's priceless.
Yao: *laughs slightly*
Su she: he better not be planning anything.
Yao: let him plan if he wish. It's him against my team D.
Mo xuanyu: and multiple mobs of hulijings
Yao: right.
Huaisang: *entering* San ge.
Yao: *smile* A-Sang.
Xue yang: we still don't like you.
Huaisang: *ignores*
I'm here.
Yao: nice. Can you be a darling and get me some tea.
Hauisang: *grumbling* but why can't you ask your goons. And that eunuch of yours.
Su she: Huangdi asked you.
Xue yang: we're not goons!
Mo xuanyu: did you organize Yao gege's things yet!
Huaisang:  can you get off my back!
Xue yang: we're not on your back, naughty huaisang. Hehe.
Su she: our Huangdi shouldn't wait for you.
Yao: leave it.
Take your time, A-Sang.
Huaisang: mn.
Yao: and A-Sang. My friends aren't goons. Maybe if you be nice to them, they'll be nice to you.
Hauisang: *mockingly* yess Huaanngddii. Hpmf!
A moment later,
Huaisang: *heading back from the kitchen*
Rusong: hey! What's that kidnapper doing here!
Rong: *jumps into action*
Huaisang: *covers face* noooo.
Rusong: spare him.
Rong: *sheaths sword* yea Dianxia.
Huaisang: *fake cries dramatically* A-Sonnngggg!!!!! Prince Rusongggggg!!! I'm sorry *sniffles* for *sniffles* kidnapping *sniffles* youuu!!
Rusong: fine. Now what are you doing?
And I know that you're fake crying.
Huaisang: *blows nose* I was appointed as a harem member.
Rusong: A-Die's low ranking concubine?
Huaisang: yea, and attendant too.
Rusong: lol, I approve! No funny business ok, uncle Sang.
Hauisang: sure. *sniffles*
Yao: *from down the hall*  Huaisang!!!!!
Huaisang: coming, San ge!
Rusong: going to meet him?
Huaisang: yea. I have to deliver his tea and then organize his ornaments.
Rusong: I see.
Huaisang: he's a really big diva.
Rusong: haha, you think so?
A-Die is just accustomed to a certain lifestyle. And you're his harem member now.
Huaisang: *cries* Why is everyone on San ge's side.
Anyways I got to go, prince Song. Bye bye.
Rusong: uncle Sang is so dramatic, for no reason.
~~
Huaisang: San ge, I got your tea.
Yao: lovely.
Someone check to see if it's not poisoned.
Hauisang: oh come on, San ge. I won't poison your tea.
Yao: I'm not taking any chances.
Su she: *checking* it's good, Yaoyao. Go ahead.
Yao: ok.
Yi: Huangdi. Xuan Huangdi is coming to visit again.
There's a letter from Lanling, for you both.
Yao: why is guangshan sending letters? What's his problem?
Xue yang: maybe he misses you guys.
Pay him a visit.
Yao: sure we will!
Mo xuanyu: Yao gege and Xuan gege do make an awesome team!
Huaisang: *gulp* Zixuan is coming?
Yao: xuan Huangdi.
Huaisang: whatever he calls himself!
He slapped me! Would he slap me again.
Yao: then don't do anything to make him slap you. Simple.
Su she: *laughing* schemer Huaisang was slapped?! By the peacock!
Mo xuanyu: that's what you get for hurting Yao gege!
Xue yang: lol, he got b*tch slapped!!! I'm starting to like the peacock a little more.
Yao: more like Huangdi slapped.
Yao: and Huaisang, it means that you have to work for him too, sorry.
Huaisang: *sighs* when will I have a day off.
Yao: soon.
But it's a bro thing. We love to share our staff and harem members when we visit each other.
It strengthens the bond!
Xue yang: it strengthens the diva energy.
Yao: Zish is different from me, so please behave around him.
Huaisang: *rolls eyes* fine. Anyways, I don't want to be slapped again.
“That was a long time ago. He doesn’t have those friends anymore and he doesn’t think that way, A-Ying.” “How do you know that?” “You should tell him about this,” she insists instead of answering his question. “He might surprise you.”
[...]
“I asked a simple question,” Jiang Cheng says, “But I was told to mind my business.” “Because it’s not your business,” Wei Ying says, uncharacteristically sharp. “He really isn’t minding his business, Yanli,” Huaisang adds unhelpfully. “I’m sure Jiang Cheng was just curious,” Yanli tries to soothe, because she knows Jiang Cheng is particularly sensitive to feeling left out. “Curious, that’s one word for it.” Wei Ying tilts his head. “I think it suits you, Jiang Cheng. You’re very curious lately. Is there anything I can sate your curiosity about? Any other little questions occupying your mind?” “You know what?” Jiang Cheng seethes. “Fuck you. You deserve to get caught. They have special prisons for people like you here, you know.” “I’d rather be in jail than look at your face.” Wei Ying is unbothered and dismissive, which he knows is the worst thing he can do to Jiang Cheng.
back to complaining about the treatment of homophobia. it's just so weird to me that jyl's reaction to and support of wwx's sexuality was handled with such grace and compassion, while jc's deal was handled by just forgiving him for everything even though he was acting considerably worse.
when jc confronts wwx about not coming out to them it's very angry, and presented as him being sensitive about being left out. in 1963, when wwx could literally go to jail for it??? of course he has the right to keep it private! but it's just written as though jc's reaction is, while unfortunate, is ultimately forgivable even though he goes and sets really horrible things to wwx and never apologizes or admits to being wrong.
like. wwx was nervous about this because he didn't know how jc would react and wwx is at CONSIDERABLE risk here so why the fuck is jc so easily forgiven for reacting in a shitty way the way wwx was WORRIED ABOUT! I don't think wwx being mean to him back is really indicitive that they're even or that he's okay with it? obviously he's going to defend himself using the tools he has...like wwx is obviously hurt but jyl sits there and tries to make jc feel better as if he wasn't the one to say such a horrible thing! why would wwx just let that blow over after being disrespected like that! ugh some authors treat him like their precious 26 year old minor tsundere who never has to change or apologize for anything because he feels left out and it's so annoying. as if he's incapable of thinking of someone else for once in his life??? yeah what a great brother. 'he's already forgiven you it's what older siblings do' just kill me
yay writing and being excited about writing!!! can i ask about 🎢👀😬💔&🤡? -megs 💙
@igarbagecannoteven hi megs! welcome! hello! huzzah! thank you for asking!
🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride? mmmmmmmmmm good question! i feel like my stuff isn't necessarily wild? i feel like you can see everything coming for the most part, and it's not overly wacky. maybe pas de deux or if we make it through december just because there's a lot of stuff that happens in those given that they're long. there are ups and downs.
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please! well my main wip right now is a fake dating au for sangcheng, which is a ship between my two favorite characters from the tv show The Untamed. It's part of the sangcheng mini bang and i'm very far behind but it's got a lot of complicated family stuff going on (jiang cheng has very complex feelings about his brother, regardless of the fact that this is an au and therefore no one has died. instead of being dead huaisang's brother is in jail framed for murder. so there's a lot going on here without even touching on the parent trauma.) and i have set it in minnesota at a lake house (familiarity, baby!) and making these two characters fake date is very fascinating because one of them is a mastermind who is pretending to be an idiot and one of them is SO emotionally repressed it's not even funny
I haven't worked on any 5sos wips in months before today. but i'm almost done with one of the prompts that i asked for a few days ago! accomplishing that one by projecting all of my mary poppins frustrations onto michael
😬 Which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon? probably the riverdale fic. it's definitely the darkest fic i've written and it's an uncomfortable and complex topic and it's for riverdale of all things.
💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart? unmute </3 not for narrative reasons just because i am so disenchanted with it and i feel like everyone judges me for not finishing it. but i did listen to part of my unmute playlist today and some day i'll finish the chapter that i'm on, and then the rest of it! we're taking it easy for now though but every day i can feel myself itching to write the next scene (it's a good scene!)
🤡 What’s a line, scene, or exchange you’ve written that made you laugh? in the prompt i'm writing i said that michael was doing his best impression of a rag doll, which amused me personally. it didn't make me laugh (i don't laugh at my own writing, just like i don't cry at it) but i like it
