Drarry Fic Reclist - Desi Harry Potter
Tumblr media
Some Drarry recs featuring a Desi Harry Potter! I hope you enjoy <3
Green Light - Prolix [T, 17k]
Avoiding the dissolution of your relationship by taking an impromptu trip to India seems like a bad idea. In this case, it turns out to be a rather good one.
Unfolded Heart - @crazybutgood [Fic+Art, 5.8k, G]
Draco had only had three months getting used to Potter joining Hogwarts as the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, before Headteacher McGonagall had asked him to organise a whole ‘educational but festive’ Christmas event with that energy ball of a Gryffindor. Merlin knew what the outcome would be.
Forged Through Flowing Water - Tedah [40k, E]
Hermione sets up a diplomatic mission to begin repairing the damage British colonisation did to Indian magical communities Harry isn’t going to pass on the opportunity to visit and help his family’s home country. Maybe he should have asked a few more questions about the personnel she had recruited for it before signing on because Malfoy surely has an ulterior motive to be there. Or Harry goes back to India to rediscover some of his lost roots. He meets Malfoy there. Hijinks ensue!
Birds of Dreams / Remover of Obstacles / Guardian of Waters - khalulu [12.4k, G]
Harry is exploring his Desi heritage, and Draco runs into him in colourful circumstances. Luna has a penchant for puns and the Patils watch Bollywood. Paper is folded, a flying carpet takes an Indian road trip, and a phoenix is found. Love blooms along the way, a flower that’s free.
Phoenix in the Fire - @lqtraintracks [28k, E]
Harry never expected to have a hot summer fling with Draco Malfoy when he agreed to mind the castle with him. He also never expected that it would all have to end on August thirty-first. What happens when casual sex with Harry’s ex-enemy turns not casual after all? And how the hell is he going to stop Draco from making one of the biggest mistakes of his life?
Connecting Lines, Connecting Crimes - @sleepstxtic [15k, M]
Magic is going haywire after ley lines all over the world are mysteriously failing. A cross-border Task Force is set up by the League of Wixen Nations with Expert Cartologist Draco Malfoy and Ley Line Specialist Pansy Parkinson being called in from Britain to work with Magi-Geographers Harry Potter and Parvati Patil in India. But can they get to the root of the issue before it's too late? Featuring: an excessive use of holograms, numerous references to food, and lots and lots (and lots!) of travel.

Adeia 2023: Modern Festival to Demeter
On a global scale, we’re dealing with a climate crisis that is putting food sources at risk. On a more local level, conflicts and abnormal weather are creating risks of bad harvests, resources shortages and/or inflations. We are aware that not everyone is impacted directly by the current ongoing issues, but we hope that this festival (or at least the idea) can be useful beyond these and be seen through a wider scope of praying for food security at large.  We named the festival Adeia, from the ancient Greek ἄδεια, which conveniently can signify both “abundance”/”plenty” and “freedom from fear”/”security”. All things the festival aims for. - @thegrapeandthefig’s original post
With El Niño threatening, a positive Indian Ocean Dipole, and record warmest winter almost Australia-wide, the upcoming summer is looking to be dry, hot, and ripe for bushfires.
The gods I am propitiating for my Adeia are Demeter Soteira (saviour), Herakles Alexikakos (averter of evil), Zeus Hyetios (moist/fertilising rain), Hermes Nomios and Apollon Nomios (protectors of pastures and shepherds), Olea (nymph of my garden), and Djarlgarra (local river god).
My menu includes:
Butterflied pork sausages with garden flowers and parsley
Flower shaped oranges with cranberry centres and honey on a bed of barley
Bread on a bed of garden parsley
Rain water in a pitcher
Tumblr media
We call upon you in our time of need Benevolent gods, givers of good.
Crises threaten world-over and hardships befall many, and now again we raise our voices in plea.
If these smoky offerings please you, and these sweet drinks warm you, look well upon us. Kindly gods, bless our coffers and larders again, and see abundance flow to our house. And should strife visit our doors, grant us the fortitude to endure.
May Demeter’s lawful eye oversee policy development, so great changes can sprout in years to come
May Zeus meter his life-giving rains, so dry or soggy fields remain moist year-through
May Hermes keep a watchful eye on the flocks and farm-hands, that flystrike and heatstroke never hinder them
With outstretched arms I sing praises to you, bold Djarlgarra, he who holds moisture for our sun-stricken land
And to sweet Olea I gift equally sweet fruits, that you may keep my rain barrels at bursting and my garden fertile

The Summer We Were Young | Kylian Mbappé
Chapter One. Ridin' in the drop-top with the top down
Tumblr media
Summary: Naaz loses her shit and books a one-way flight to Nice. Maybe she should’ve thought this through a bit more?
PSG wins the Ligue 1 title but Kylian can’t seem to muster up the strength to join in the festivities. So, without telling anyone, he leaves for the South. Maybe he should’ve told his mom?
SATURDAY, JUNE 3 2023
Naaz Ahmed
Naaz paced back and forth in her childhood bedroom in Toronto, her mind racing with anger and frustration. She had just had yet another argument with her parents, and this time, she had truly lost her shit. Why couldn’t they just understand that she didn't want to live her life following the same rigid structure as them? After all, she only had this one life and she would be damned if she wasted it by marrying some random man, who ticked all the ‘appropriate’ boxes of an ideal son-in-law created a million years ago by miserable people who had nothing better to do,  followed by popping out some babies and restarting the same mind-numbing, soul-crushing cycle once again.
Naaz could feel tears welling up in her eyes as these dark thoughts consumed her mind. She felt trapped in this golden cage. While she appreciated all that her parents had done for her but she couldn't help but feel bitter about the fact that they seemed so entitled to her happiness and her future.
Enough, she thought, I can’t stay here a second longer. One thing about Naaz is that she was the type of person who liked to do things without clearly thinking them through which has often led her into a few spots of trouble.
This time was no different, the young woman quickly opened her laptop
Without thinking things through, she had booked a one-way flight to Nice through one of those cheap flight websites. She didn't care about the cost or the fact that she had no plan, she just needed to escape.
As Naaz stared at the confirmation email on her screen, a rush of emotions flooded her mind. She felt a mixture of excitement, fear, and uncertainty that left her feeling both exhilarated and anxious at the same time. The spontaneity of her decision to book a one-way flight to Nice was both liberating and terrifying, as she had no idea what awaited her in this unfamiliar destination.
As Naaz's excitement about her impulsive decision to escape to Nice intensified, she felt a knot of anxiety form in her stomach at the thought of her parents' reaction. She knew all too well how overprotective and traditional they were, and the mere thought of their reaction sent shivers down her spine.
She imagined their faces contorted in anger, and the thought made her heart clench with anxiety and guilt. God, the guilt was the worse. Indian parents had a way of instilling guilt in you from the womb. She would have to brace herself for the storm of emotions that was sure to follow, but she was ready to weather it with the knowledge that, in the end, this would be worth it. Naaz shook her head, taking a deep breath and getting rid of these thoughts.
“You deserve this, girl. No one can change your destiny except. Okay? Okay, We got this.” Giving herself a quick pep talk, she felt a sense of determination to stand firm in her decision.
She turned her attention back to the task at hand - packing her bags with utmost care and precision so as not to raise any suspicion. As she meticulously folded her clothes and packed her essentials, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building within her, knowing that she was taking the first step towards her dreams.
However, the fear of getting caught by her parents loomed over her like a dark cloud. Naaz knew that she had to be careful not to leave any clues behind that would give her secret away. She made sure to pack quietly and efficiently, triple-checking to ensure that she hadn't forgotten anything important.
The sound of the clock ticking away added to her nerves, reminding her that time was running out. She knew that her parents would be asleep by now, and that she had to make her escape before they could catch her. With a final glance around her room, Naaz hefted her bags over her shoulders and made her way to the door, tiptoeing as silently as possible.
As she stepped out into the cool night air, she felt a rush of adrenaline coursing through her veins. She knew that this was the moment she had been waiting for - the moment when she could finally break free and forge her own path in life. With a deep breath, she called for an Uber and climbed into the car, feeling the wind in her hair and the thrill of adventure in her heart.
As the Uber sped away from her home, Naaz's heart pounded with excitement and apprehension. The driver kept glancing at her through the rearview mirror, probably wondering why she was out so late with such heavy bags. Naaz tried to keep a low profile, avoiding eye contact and staying quiet.
As the car made its way through the empty streets, Naaz's mind raced with thoughts of what lay ahead. She thought of the new people she would meet, the places she would explore, and the experiences she would have. It was like a whole new world was opening up before her, and she was determined to make the most of it.
As the car pulled up to the airport, Naaz took a deep breath and stepped out, feeling a sense of exhilaration wash over her. With bated breath, she stepped out of the car and made her way to the check-in counter. She could feel the eyes of the other passengers on her, and she wondered if they could sense her nervousness.
She stood in line, clutching her passport and boarding pass in her hand, trying to keep her composure. The airport was bustling with activity, with people hurrying to and fro, carrying bags and luggage. Naaz was feeling almost high from excitement and the adrenaline of going to the beautiful French coast.
As she approached the Air France counter, Naaz felt incredibly lucky to have found such last-minute tickets on Air France, and couldn't help but think that perhaps God really was on her side.
The airline attendant greeted her with a smile, and Naaz felt a sense of relief wash over her. She handed over her passport and boarding pass, feeling a sense of pride and excitement as she did so.
The attendant checked her documents and then looked up at her with a smile. "Have a safe and enjoyable flight," she said.
Naaz grinned - she was really doing this, she was really going to fucking Nice! Walking towards the duty-free zone, she browsed through the shelves of snacks.
The flight was scheduled for 6AM, but Naaz didn't care about spending six hours in the airport. She was too excited for what lay ahead. By the time her parents woke up and realized she was gone, she would be long gone, tanning on a sandy beach and sipping delicious virgin margaritas.
Kylian Mbappé
Meanwhile, in Paris, Kylian's mind was clouded with disappointment and frustration, knowing that this season had been a disaster. Despite winning the title, he couldn't help but feel that it was a hollow victory. The team had underperformed throughout the season, with injuries and inconsistent performances plaguing their efforts.
Kylian's heart felt heavy as he looked around at his teammates, who were cheering and hugging each other. He knew that they had worked hard to earn this title, but it still felt like a consolation prize for a season that had fallen short of their expectations.
He couldn't help but wonder what the point of it all was. Was winning the title worth it if it came at the cost of their dignity and reputation?
Kylian shook his head, he couldn't stay here any longer. He had to leave, he had to escape the hollow feeling inside him. Grabbing his stuff, he walked out of the locker telling everyone he was just going to shower. He found the door that used to lead to the old trash bins but was now mostly used by members of the PSG staff and the players to sneak out for a short break.
He reached for his phone and dialled his assistant, "Karl, I need my private jet ready in the next hour. I'm heading to the south of France, preferably Nice."
As he spoke, Kylian's voice was low and urgent, betraying the turmoil that raged inside him. He knew that this impromptu escape would be seen as irresponsible and selfish, but he couldn't ignore the yearning in his heart. The pressure and expectation that came with being a football superstar had taken its toll on him, leaving him feeling empty and unfulfilled. He needed a break, a chance to find himself again.
Karl, who had been Kylian's assistant for years, was used to his boss's sudden whims and demands. He quickly replied, "Sure thing, Kylian. I'll have the jet ready for you in an hour. Do you need anything else?"
"No, just make sure everything is in order," Kylian replied before hanging up.
As he walked through the door that led to the staff parking lot, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. He was finally doing something for himself, something that wasn't dictated by the expectations of others. They already thought he was a selfish, arrogant prick, might as well act like one now. The warm evening breeze of Paris felt refreshing against his face as he loaded his luggage into the waiting car.
"Where to, sir?" the driver asked.
"The airport. I have a private jet waiting," Kylian replied, settling into the back seat.
The driver nodded, and the car pulled out onto the busy streets of Paris. As they drove, Kylian's mind wandered, thinking of the unknown adventures that awaited him in the south of France. He felt a sense of anticipation and excitement, but also a lingering sense of guilt for leaving his teammates and coach behind.
"This is madness. I’ve gone crazy," he muttered to himself.
He wondered if he should have confided in his mother before leaving, but he pushed the thought away, telling himself that he needed this break.
Kylian closed his eyes and tried to calm his racing mind, the sounds of the city outside the car a distant hum. He needed to relax, to clear his mind and figure out what was bothering him. The pressure of being a football superstar was starting to take its toll on him, and he knew he needed to find a way to recharge.
"Maybe I'll find some peace in Nice," he murmured to himself, the idea of lounging on a beach and soaking up the Mediterranean sun sounding like heaven.
The car pulled up to the airport, and Kylian stepped out, ready to leave his worries behind and embrace the unknown.
A/N: Hello, lovelies! Here's chapter one of the summer fic. It's quite short but i just wanted to set the mood about the emotional state of Naaz and Kylian before arriving in Nice. The story pics up next chapter, pinky promise 💞😅

I spoke to my Husband about how badly I'm struggling trying to figure out what on Earth to do with next year's garden. He's pushing me to do all flowers- which is kind of what I've been wiggling back and forth on, personally; he said that's immediately where his brain went, too, when I expressed having issues deciding.
When I brought up the fact that I can't bring them indoors because Araris'd try to eat them, and I can't handle the heat outdoors, so it felt like there was no real point- not since I'd never be able to enjoy them ... He started looking at ways to help cool the garden down for me; ever the eternal "Fixer", that man, I swear. But he did actually manage to find a couple options!
The two main options include (1) A small, battery operated misting fan I can just fill up and plop on one of the tables; and (2) Installing an 8ft Sun Shade on the garage. Something I can just pull over to the fence in order to provide extra shade when the Umbrella actually stops being useful after midday near entirely (which is always around roughly midsummer).
I don't know why I didn't think to find options to cool the garden down for myself. The thought just ... Never even remotely crossed my mind in any capacity. But between those two things, it should hopefully actually allow me to continue using and enjoying the garden through Summer. And so now it's not really all that unreasonable to try and do a flower garden next year after all!
I've kind of already picked out a rough idea of seeds and split the garden into three groups, now, then: The Garage bed, the Fence bed, and the pots.
➽ For the Garage bed, because it's so sunny, I'm going to plant largely natives that can handle the heat well (Coreopsis, Indian Blanket, Echinacea, Cardinal Flower, Yarrow, Queen Anne's Lace, Milkweed, Goldenrod, Sunflower, Passionflower, etc).
I already have half of the seeds for this since I ordered some of them last year and the starts just failed. So I won't have to order many more. Maybe only half of them, likely.
➽ For the Fence bed, since it's largely shaded, I'm going to plant more traditional ornamental garden flowers that probably can't handle our heat and our direct sun so well (Poppy, Lupine, Zinnia, Carnation, Cosmos, Calendula, Foxglove, etc).
I don't have any of these seeds in stock except for Lupine, because I haven't done an Ornamental plot since I started seed collecting. So I'll have to order all of these ones.
➽ And for the Pots, I'm just going to do some various mixed stuff; fill the larger ones in with what I've already planned to hold-over or re-plant from last year- and then save the smaller pots for the random things I find throughout the year at the Herb Festival and Lowe's ... Let everything just kind of fall as it may with the Pots.
I'm definitely still going to keep my normal staple Herbs like Rosemary, Basil, and Sage. Then I'm also going to do the new Plant Allies and other things I've already chosen for next year- like Rue, Absinthe Wormwood, Hyssop, and Mugwort, and then the new Rose I've already pre-ordered (which should be arriving in May, I think? I can't actually remember now). Plus I've got the potted Perennials that're still going strong- like the Comfrey, two Peonies, Blueberry, Lilac, and Perennial Salvia / Woodland Sage. And my Husband and I always grow Tomatoes every year, too, and won't be changing that (we've already picked those out.
I'm not going to re-order my Lily Bulbs this year. There's just too many of them to re-order, and doing so would wind up with far more bulbs than I could ever actually have the space for (I wish I could just order packs of like 5 bulbs or less, but everywhere sells like 10+ 😩); I think I'll just wait to re-order all of my Birthday Lilies I lost until we're actually out at the Farm and I can put them straight in the ground instead of risking loosing them in the pots again.
But not re-ordering them does mean I now have an extra 2 pots I can fiddle with if I can find space for them over by my garden instead of in the Breeze Way.

Hi, Hello, I recently had the urge to make an 'OC' of a Hindu god for RoR and then thought;
Imma give you a list and explanation about Shivas children! In a sense everyone is his child, given his deity/god status, but I mean his actual kids.
The eight Children of Lord Shiva
1/ Ganesha;
Tumblr media
Ganesha, elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, who is traditionally worshipped before any major enterprise and is the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors.
His name means both “Lord of the People” (gana means the common people) and “Lord of the Ganas” (Ganesha is the chief of the ganas, the goblin hosts of Shiva). Ganesha is potbellied and generally depicted as holding in his hand a few round Indian sweets, of which he is inordinately fond.
His vahana is the large Indian bandicoot rat, which symbolizes Ganesha’s ability to overcome anything to get what he wants. Like a rat and like an elephant, Ganesha is a remover of obstacles. The 10-day late-summer (August–September) festival Ganesh Chaturthi is devoted to him.
Many different stories are told about the birth of Ganesha, including one in which Parvati makes her son out of a piece of cloth and asks her consort, Shiva, to bring him to life.
One of the best-known myths, however, begins with Parvati taking a bath and longing for someone to keep Shiva from barging in on her, as was his habit. As she bathes, she kneads the dirt that she rubs off her body into the shape of a child, who comes to life. But when Shiva sees the handsome young boy he or one of his attendants cuts off the child’s head.
When Shiva, to fix his mistake after Parvati yelled at him, cuts off an elephant’s head to bestow it on the headless Ganesha, one of the tusks is shattered, and Ganesha is depicted holding the broken-off piece in his hand. According to this version of the myth, Ganesha is the child of Parvati alone—indeed, a child born despite Shiva’s negative intervention. Yet Ganesha is traditionally regarded as the child of both Shiva and Parvati.
In some parts of India Ganesha is depicted as celibate, but in others he is said to be married to both Buddhi (“Intelligence”) and Siddhi (“Success”). Yet other traditions give him a third wife, Riddhi (“Prosperity”).
2/ Kartikeya;
Tumblr media
Kartikeya, also known as Skanda, Subrahmanya, Shanmukha and Murugan (Tamil: முருகன்), is the Hindu god of war. He is the son of Shiva and Parvati and the brother of Ganesha.
After being begged for help, Shiva decided to take action against Soorapadman's increasing conceit. He frowned and his third eye- the eye of knowledge- started releasing sparks. These were six sparks in total. Agni had the responsibility to take them to Saravana Lake. As he was carrying them, the sparks were growing hotter and hotter that even the Lord of Fire could not withstand the heat.
Soon after Murugan was born on a lotus in the Saravana Lake with six faces, giving him the name Arumukhan. Lord Shiva and Parvati visited and tears of joy started flowing as they witnessed the most handsome child. Shiva and Parvathi gave the responsibility of taking care of Muruga to the six Krittika sisters.
Muruga grew up to be a handsome, intelligent, powerful, clever youth. All the Devas applauded at their saviour, who had finally come to release them from their woes. Murugan became the supreme general of the demi-gods, then escorted the devas and led the army of the devas to victory against the asuras.
3/ Ashok Sundari;
Tumblr media
Ashok is not the goddess of anything per say and was simply created to cure Parvatis loneliness.
The birth of Ashokasundari is recorded in the Padma Purana. In one of the variants about tale of Nahusha, Parvati once requested Shiva to take her to the most beautiful garden in the world.
As per her wishes, Shiva took her to Nandanvana, where Parvati saw a tree known as Kalpavriksha. Parvati asked for a daughter from the wish fulfilling tree to get rid of her loneliness. Her wish was granted and Ashokasundari was born.
4/ Ayyappan;
Tumblr media
Ayyappan, also known as Dharmasastha and Manikandan, is the Hindu deity of truth and righteousness. His worship is more prevalant in South India. Although devotion to Ayyappan has been prevalent earlier, his popularity rose in the late 20th century. According to Hindu theology, he is the son of Vishnu in the form of Mohini and Shiva thus representing a bridge between Shaivism and Vaishnavism.
As Mahishasura was blessed with invulnerability to all men, the gods had sent goddess Durga, to fight and kill him. Thus, Mahishi began performing a fearsome set of austerities, and pleased the creator god Brahma. She asked for the boon of invulnerability, but Brahma said it was not possible so Mahishi planned and asked invulnerability to all men except by the son of Shiva and Vishnu (Both are male & no possibility to give birth to any one).
He granted her the boon of ruling the universe and being invulnerable except by the son of Shiva and Vishnu. Since such a person did not exist, she thought she was safe and began conquering and plundering the world. The gods implored Shiva and Vishnu to save them from this catastrophe. Vishnu found a possible solution to the problem.
When Vishnu had taken on the Kurma Avatar, he also had to manifest himself as Mohini, the enchantress, to save the nectar of immortality (ambrosia or amrit) from the demons who were not willing to share it with the gods. If he became Mohini again, then the female Mohini and the male Shiva could have the divine child who would combine their powers and beat Mahishi. Some versions give a slightly more detailed version of the union of Shiva with Vishnu.(One of them stating that Shiva simply asked to see Vishnus avatar and was immediately run over by passion once he did.)
5/ Andhaka;
Tumblr media
He isn't considered a god per say but seen as the Lord of all Asuras, demons.
While in the mount Mandhar, a baby was born to Parvati and Shiva. Shiva was in a meditating posture and Parvati closed his eyes mischievously from behind. The boy appeared out of Parvati and Shiva’s sweat. Shiva explains to Parvati that since his eyes were closed, the baby was born blind and was called Andhaka (the dark/blind). Since he posed devilish qualities he was called Andhakasur (the blind demon). Hiranyaksh, a troublesome demon did intense penance to please Lord Shiva. Hiranyaksh wanted a son who posses immense powers to rule the world.
Shiva refused to grant such a boon. Instead he offered Andhaka to Hiranyaksh saying that Andhaka posses all the qualities he was looking for, and to treat him as his son. Andhaka wanted more power and did intense penance to please Lord Brahma. Among many things, the boons he asked for included extraordinary vision and immortality. Everything was granted except the immortality. Instead, Lord Brahma asked him to choose when he could die. Andhakasur asked for a boon that he would die only when he aspires for a woman who he should never aspire for. With time Andhakasur turned more materialistic and less interested in austerities.
By this time he has already conquered the world and the heaven. On a pleasure trip he along with his companions lands up in Mount Mandhar where Lord Shiva and Parvati lives. His companions tells of a sage and his beautiful wife. Andhaka sends his companions to bring her along. Shiva explains to them that they are Andhaka’s parents. The companions mistook it for a ploy and compels Andhaka for a fight. Shiva and Parvati will soon play a horrible role in the battlefield in many different forms.
The next morning, Shiva and Parvati's army reached the battlefield with Andhaka's army also vice-versa. Andhaka wants Parvati to be his. Shiva assigns his demon-warrior form Veerbhadra to kill half of Andhaka's army. Veerbhadra managed to kill half of Andhaka's army, but did not manage to kill Andhaka. When Andhaka was bleeding from his hands, arms, legs feet or hands, a new clone of Andhaka appears, Veerbhadra tries again, but failed, Parvati gets outraged to see Andhaka and his clones, so does Lord Shiva, Parvati calls upon the eight Mother Goddesses from her, namely as Brahmani, Vaishnavi, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Indrani, Varahi, Narasinghi and Chamundai to help Veerbhadra in the battlefield.
The eight Mother Goddessses killed the rest Andhaka's army, then they came together, all lined up in the skies watched the battle. Parvati took the form of Goddess Bhadrakali to help Veerbhadra. He slashed Andhaka's clones while Bhadrakali collected their blood and drank it, she also slashed Andhaka's clones too. After Andhaka was defeated, he pleads forgiveness from Lord Shiva and Parvati.
After Veerbhadra went back into Lord Shiva's body, so did the eight Mother Goddesses after Bhadrakali returned as Parvati, they went back into her body as well. Andhaka was defeated, he pleads forgiveness from Lord Shiva and Parvati. He was forgiven and became one of the men of Shiva.
Some stories do say; Andhaka conceived an unnatural lust for his mother, Parvati, which accounts for Shiva's ferocious antagonism against him. Andhaka is usually shown either impaled on Shiva's trident, or in skeletal form as Bhringi after submitting to Shiva, who drained his blood during the conflict.
6/ Manasa;
Tumblr media
Manasa (Sanskrit: मनसा, romanized: Manasā) is a Hindu goddess of snakes.
Also known as 'Nagini,' the female serpentine avatar or 'Vishahara,' the goddess who annihilates poison, Manasa, in the Hindu mythology, is believed to be the daughter of sage Kasyapa and Kadru, the sister of the serpent-king Sesha. She is the sister of Vasuki, king of Nagas and wife of sage Jagatkaru.
A simplified version of the myth regards Manasa as the daughter of Lord Shiva. Legends have it that she was rejected by her father Shiva and husband Jagatkaru, and hated by her stepmother, Chandi, who scooped out one of Manasa's eyes. So, she appears to be foul-tempered, and benevolent only towards her devotees.
7/ Jyoti;
Tumblr media
Jyoti, or the Hindu goddess of light and the "Vel," is revered by Hindus. As the goddess of "vel," she is closely linked to her brother, Lord Murugan, the son of Shiva and Parvati.
Jyoti is assumed to have been conceived by Shiva and Parvati as there aren't many myths around her birth. The one known is that she along with her family represent the five elements.
8/ Jalandhar;
Tumblr media
Genuinely the only picture i found-
Jalandhara was the king of the asuras. Jalandhar was an able ruler and under his leadership the asuras defeated the devas. He himself isn't an asuras.
In the Shiva temple, when Indra and Brihaspati were going towards Mount Kailasha to meet Shiva, their way was blocked by a naked yogi with matted hair and a radiant face. The yogi was Shiva himself, who had taken the form to test the knowledge of Indra and Brihaspati.
Indra did not recognize the yogi and was infuriated at the fact that the man was not moving out of their way. Indra asked him to move, but the man did not budge. After not receiving a response, Indra became enraged and threatened him with his thunderbolt. Upon this action Indra's arm, became paralysed and Shiva neutralised the thunderbolt.
Shiva became angry upon this action of Indra and his eyes turned red, frightening Indra. The anger caused his third eye to open, nearly killing Indra. Brihaspati recognised Shiva and prayed to him, requesting him to pardon Indra.
To avoid killing Indra, Shiva sent the fire from his eye towards the ocean and upon meeting with the ocean it assumed the form of a boy. The boy cried terribly, which caused Brahma to descend from his abode. The ocean told Brahma that he did not know where the boy came from.
Brahma then told him that the boy would one day become the emperor of the asuras, that he could only be killed by Shiva, and that after his death, he would return to third eye. Which will happen eventually... one day.
Tumblr media
And that's all I know and found out about them♡

Winter Solstice: The Return of the Light

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year and the first day of winter. This occurs December 20, 21, or 22, varying from year to year, dependent upon the elliptical path of the Earth around our Sun. Technically the solstice marks the instant at which the Earth's axis stops tilting away from the sun and starts going back the other way. Solstice means "Standing-Still-Sun." At Winter Solstice, the Sun journeys farthest south in its orbital path and for the next three days it rises and sets at virtually the same place on the horizon, appearing to stand still, and then it slowly returns north.
This three day pause in the Sun's movement is a time of inward reflection. We are each given the opportunity to take a peek at what is happening on a heart and soul level. We can reflect on the year ending to see where we have erred and reform those beliefs, attitudes, and strategies no longer applicable to the New Year unfolding. Such a fresh open-minded approach will broaden our perspective and start us out on the right track.
Ancient peoples in our northern climes regarded Winter Solstice as the pivotal time of year. It is a time of transition in the annual cycle when the old year ends and our journey into the New Year begins. It is a sacred time to conduct ceremonies focused on the return of light and warmth. Rituals designed to divert nature from the path toward eternal winter and oblivion to one directed toward light and prosperity. Most cultures planned festivals and celebrations at or around the Winter Solstice to ensure that the Sun would return.
The Pueblos of the American Southwest have honored the Winter Solstice for thousands of years. Zuni Indians celebrate Shalako and Hopis begin the observance of the month long Soyal with rituals to insure victory of light over darkness. Hopi priests wear feathers in their headdresses symbolizing the Sun's rays. Sacred underground structures called kivas let in the rays of the rising and setting Sun and Moon throughout the year. Among the Pueblos, Winter Solstice is an affirmation of the continuation of life; that the cyclical order of time and the cosmos will continue intact.
Fire and light have always played a central role in the Winter Solstice ceremonies. In much of northern Europe people ignited huge bonfires. Lighted candles were often placed on the branches of evergreen trees, which symbolized survival and eternal life. These symbols of warmth and lasting life were lit to hasten the "old" Sun's waning and the "new" Sun's rebirth. People often tied apples to the branches of firs and oaks to remind themselves that summer would eventually return. In the British Isles, mistletoe was placed upon altars. Mistletoe's golden color was believed to store the power of the Sun, especially when plucked at the solstice.
In Peru, the people fasted for three days prior to the solstice. At dawn on the morning of the fourth day, everyone gathered in the public plaza to watch the sunrise. When its light appeared, the celebration began with shouts of joy. At the Sun Temple the rays of the Sun were focused with a mirror to make a fire. This sacred fire was carried to all the outlying temples, where it was kept burning on the altars throughout the year.
In my own solstice celebration, I like to incorporate a sacred fire. Before the Sun sets on the solstice, I will light a large candle or oil lamp, call the spirit of the Sun into that fire, and allow it to burn until morning, when his spirit has returned to the sky.
On the Winter Solstice we are all praying, on some level, for the darkness to end. "Just return the light!" the ceremonies seem to say. As we celebrate the return of the light, we affirm the continuation of life at the very moment of dissolution. To be sure, dark days lie ahead. But contained within each is the promise of brighter tomorrows.

The “Summer of Love” when caravans of young music fans, traveled from the north, the east and the south and converged on the Monterey County Fairgrounds in California on the weekend of June 16-18, 1967.
The Monterey Pop Festival was a groundbreaking event, bringing together nearly three dozen well-known and unknown acts representing an eclectic mix of styles and sounds. The great soul singer Otis Redding, the Indian sitar master Ravi Shankar and South African singer/trumpeter Hugh Masekala, for instance, all had their first significant exposure to a primarily white American audience that featured such well-known acts as the Animals, the Association, the Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, and the Mamas and the Papas.
By the end of the festival, Jimi Hendrix had vaulted into prominence, as had Janis Joplin, the electrifying singer who fronted Big Brother & the Holding Company in two separate performances over the weekend. No one was quite aware of it at the time, but Monterey Pop launched two of the most iconic performers in American musical history. In this sense, the festival not only pioneered the basic idea of a large-scale, multi-day rock festival, but it also provided the creative template that such festivals still follow to this day.

2012 Lover Diaries Transcripts
Feb 2012
Holy Ground Lyrics
Mar 2, 2012- Perth, Australia
So here we are in Perth. It’s a beach town on the Indian Ocean and it’s beautiful. It’s 85º and sunny and yesterday I went to Cottesloe Beach – I’ve never seen water that crystal blue before. And white sand. There was this art festival going on, so there were all these sculptures set up on the beach. We laid our towels out and got tans and frolicked in the water. After our beach afternoon, we went to this restaurant right on the beach called Indiana. It was built in 1910 and looked like an old fancy hotel. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve been, with old world arches and moldings, antique tables and big french doors opening out to views of azure blue ocean. We sat there for hours drinking strawberry mojitos and eating calamari until I was so tired, I went back to my fluffy hotel bed and slept. I’ve been thinking a lot about getting older and relevancy and how all my heroes have ended up alone. I wrote a song on the plane ride from Sydney to Perth on the appalachian dulcimer I bought the day of my flight. I bought it because Joni played on most of her blue record. I taught myself to play ‘A Case of You.’ Anyway, I wrote a song on it called “Nothin New” and it’s about being scared of aging and things changing and losing what you have. It says “I’m getting older and less sure of what you like about me anyway.” And in the chorus it says “How can a person know everything at 18, and nothing at 22? And will you still want me … when I’m nothing new.” It’s a really vulnerable song, but I think it’s important to say.
Jun 10, 2012- Los Angeles, CA
I’ve been in the studio non stop. This week I was in with Max Martin and Johan Shellback, the guys I wrote ‘Getting Back Together’ with. The first day, I had to do this corporate performance for an arena full of managers. I played Love Story and Mean, solo acoustic and Justin Timberlake was MCing so he introduced me. Hilarious sense of humor. He was making the whole arena laugh. When I finished there, I got on the plane and this idea came to me “I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22.” I wrote the entire chorus on the plane ride to LA. When I landed, I went straight to the studio and played it for Max and Johan. They loved it. I was so excited. I wrote 22 about how much fun I’ve been having this summer and this year in general. It’s so carefree and sounds like a summer anthem. I was floating on a cloud after we wrote it. The next day I brought them a chorus called 'Trouble’ that’s about how I should’ve known what I was getting into. We came back to 'Trouble’ and it turned out to be absolutely amazing. It’s so edgy and unexpected. It’s almost dub step. My friends love that one the most. I love writing so much. It’s the only thing that makes total sense to me. If I missed a day in the studio, I’d be so mad at myself. God I’ve been having such a beautiful life lately. I can’t believe it. It’s like there’s magic in the air. Friday was my day off. I woke up and went hiking. Then went home and showered. painted my nails, daydreamed about our trip for 4th of July. Taylor

If It Is You (2023)
Kimi to Nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo (2023)
Final review: sweet, the anguish only makes it sweeter. Rating: 8/10
Summary: A highschooler (Amane) moves in with his grandmother after having his heartbroken by his first-love/crush who took his confession as badly as he could. His exploration of sexuality took into the arms of an older friend-with-benefit. In the new town he meets a gentle classmate (Ryuji) whose sincerity who have him thinking: if it is with you [I can fall in love].
The story revolves around their life – the high school experience, busy summertime and a love confession that sneaked out of Amane's heart. HE.
Pairing: mujaki, tsukushi seme X sasoi uke
What I liked:
Ryuji drinking tea and chatting with grandma while waiting for Amane to wake up. And leaving after making sure Amane is ok.
Early on in the story, we are made to feel Amane’s broken heart. The friend-with-benefit was definitely not the right person for Amane. This one gesture from Ryuji won him my approval. He proved perfect for Ryuji. If it is with him then I can rest assured.
2. Amane teasing Ryuji.
That was Amane’s way of testing Ryuji’s reaction to his androphilia. I love how that was a reflection of Amane’s failed attempt to connect with his first crush. Ryuji’s confusion and surprise are overshadowed by his tenderness in treating Amane.
It reminded me of the scene from His - Koisuru Tsumori Nante Nakatta (2019) where Nagisa tells Shun a love story to introduce his androphilia.
Not only that scene but also the location of Ryuji’s restaurant kept reminding me of His (2019).
3. Ryuji preventing girls from his class from stealing Amane from him by invoking their promise to watch fireworks together.
4. The cliff-hanger at the end of episode 4. Resolution at episode 5.
I was scared that Ryuji would forget about their date with how busy he looked. I was super happy to see his POV – throughout his summer vacation, while he was very busy, his thoughts revolved around Amane. Just like Amane kept thinking about him. Better yet, flowers, food, and other quotidian stuff reminded Ryuji of Amane. And that convo he had with his mother. Him realizing that it is love!
5. Ryuji taking Amane to the temple grounds so they can talk. Them turning up late to school.
6. Amane going all the way to Ryuji’s restaurant to take a look and returning right after. Amane not telling Ryuji about it later. That was so good!
7. Amane drinking tea in one cup and rushing out. Grandma’s smile.
8. Watermelon
It made me realize that the series was like that, tough on the outside, sweet & soft on the inside. Juicy and perfect for the heat.
9. Amane missing Ryuji while in a karaoke bar, surrounded by friends.
Reminded me of the Yunmeng extra from danmei novel Mo Dao Zu Shi where Wei Wuxian missing Lan Wangji while surrounded by friends.
10. The festival crowd.
11. BL quirk – how seme Ryuji’s name is.
12. Direction was neat. Actors were good.
13. Traditional shudo-type pairing: Amane is ideal Wakashu.
Especially the part where he realizes his friend-with-benefit was not actually kind. Ryuji is shown to be worthy of Amane.
Shigatsu no Tokyo wa... (2023) had a scene where Kazuma stops Ren from having friends-with-benefit situation with older guy. There is no one stopping Amane here. Ryuji is also not an average highschooler, having to take on restaurant duty.
What I didn’t like:
Post-firework extended date.
It was not bad. I didn’t care for it. I feel happy for them. It felt personal and a shorter montage would have been enough. This is probably because of Indian movie influence where date/dance montage are employed to depict romance efficiently. But then they had to add filler to make the episode full.
2. Camerawork in firework scene was a little off. What’s with that angle of looking at nose. The coloring didn’t help it either.

Desi Middle Class ✨Aesthetic✨
Kiraya ka ghar, chai ki tapri, buying new clothes twice or at max thrice a year during festive occasions, steel ka dabba, bigger uniform size to make sure you keep fitting into it for at least two years, feeling proud to own a Trimax pen, dada dadi or nana nani's tel malish, visiting temple towns for vacations, train journeys with lots of chips packed to munch on and mummy ke parathe or puri bhaji, having to wait patiently for your turn to use the bathroom unless and until you have two bathrooms and both of them are equally functional, never been on a flight or have been only once by luck, noticing that your dad rarely buys new shirts for himself, lingering looks on that beautiful but expensive dress, your mother touches that one lovely saree for the last time and you promise to yourself that when you start earning, you will gift her every saree she will land her gaze upon, covering rough notebooks with newspapers, start studying maths for the new school year during summer vacation, sharing a room and sometimes the same study table with your siblings, beaming at your bade bhaiya or didi when they show you how to make a paper boat/paper airplane, you are growing up and for the first time you see your older sibling break down in their room all by themselves and realization dawns that even they need a comforting hug, Tu kab badi huyi?, Wanting to gift a good car to your father with your own salary, the entire family dreams to own their own house someday, the first time you realize what a middle class family really is, fights and quarrels that always end with silent apologies over the dining table, beta doctor ya engineer? Kya matlab arts lena hai? Humare family se just pass hone vale bhi science liye? You wipe your own tears and strengthen your resolve to fight for your own dreams, parents are proud that you proved them wrong with your career and subject choice, sadly dropping out of dance, music, arts and sports classes as soon as you begin 10th grade -- lucky ones still continue them, watching Indian tv serials with mummy during afternoons after coming back from school, thoda toh pocket money badha do?? Storing money everywhere in the house, counting coins as a child and thinking yourself to be very rich, chota ghar magar sapne bade yeh hai middle class parivar ki kahani
I was watching Wagle ki duniya and later mummy and I were talking about our lifestyle after which she played a Sudha Murthy video where she was talking about the middle class lifestyle, and then I made this post by reflecting on some of my own experiences. I know that the above post doesn't still complete the middle class life there are so many things remaining but I tried my best to summarise from my own observation and experiences.
I have lived a small part of my life with the more economically advantaged groups too (samridhi just say rich) and I am seeing and have also seen the other side too that isn't as gleaming as I used to think but nevertheless it's colourful, so I wanted to write something on it as a lesson I learnt in these 3 years and for the lesson which will live with me for my future endeavours. Probably this post will also be a sahara sort of thing when I again spiral down some crying lane over my exams.
I have so many stories from my 11th 12th and drop year timeline that I will soon share because as I always believe in the end being good no matter what, be it whatever college I get in or whatever I do, this experience taught me things that no school classroom could do. I may sound like a dadi now but yes maybe in the upcoming time if some of you younger lot do stumble on this in times that seem dark and full of certainty, I hope those stories will bring hope in your hearts
Bas bhai yeh dadimaa kirdar ab kuch samay paschat
