I know I'm SO late to the party, but In light of the hbomberguy video, I wanted to drop a list of some of my favorite video essayists on here who are all great. Some are well known, some of them not, but all deserve a lot of love thrown their way!
Any creators I know are Queer will have a * next to their names if that's what you're looking for! (Note some of them might not have a star that should, that's not me trying to invalidate anybody I just didn't know, please feel free to correct me!)
Dominic Noble- book content! Has a series called Lost in Adaptation that judges how faithful movie adaptations of books were to their original source material, but also does some reviews/summaries as well. Very publicly denounced JKR after she was revealed to be a TERF and stated he will no longer review anything by her on his channel. Also deleted ALL of his HP videos after finding out she was a TERF (which were his most popular videos), so I have a really deep respect for him tbh. Former Channel Awesome member who publicly denounced them on several occasions, and an all around swell guy.
*Overly Sarcastic Productions- channel run by 2 people who go by Red and Blue. History and Mythology/Literature content, as well as analysis of tropes and media! I've been told their History content can be a bit... Iffy, but I'm not a Historian so I don't know, however if they get something wrong they're good about correcting it for what that counts for. Very interesting to listen to, I've watched Red's Videos roughly 100 times each. Also has a podcast.
*Strange Aeons- fandom/Tumblr history mostly, as well as some history, and weird businesses too. Reads a LOT of cursed content for her channel.
*Lindsay Ellis- Media/film analysis. obviously not as unknown as some of the others on here, but I absolutely adore her content and will forever be sad that she isn't on YouTube anymore.
Cruel World Happy Mind- MLM/explanation of controversial figures. I'm not sure how best to explain her content, but she seems genuinely lovely and is interesting to listen to. Also a victim of Illuminaughtii's ire and deserves some love. The video she made on Blair is a bit outdated since she made it at the start of when this all came to light, but imo it's definitely worth a watch. Her talking about her interaction with Blair genuinely broke my heart.
*Night Mind- Analog horror/Unfiction/ARG content! Analyzes and explains various internet horror pieces, and also has a very nice voice to listen to.
*Lola Sebastian- Film/Media Analysis!
Li Speaks- Deep dives into various nostalgia, mainly flash games!
*Princess Weekes- Media/film/literary analysis!
abitfrank- summaries and analysis of various "darker" children's content such as Coraline (book and movie), Nightmare Before Christmas, and various dark fairy tales
Hello Future Me- writing advice and world building information!
Curious Archive- deep dives into the various bestiaries of video games and the animals in real life that they're similar to, I love his Subnautica video!
In Praise of Shadows- Horror media analysis! Will often focus on specific franchises, but also covers things like horror comics and tropes as well.
Wait in the Wings- theatre! Deep dives into the back stories behind the production of various musicals! His video on Rogers the Musical that he did for April Fool's last year is comedy fucking gold
Weird Reads With Emily Louise- conspiracy theory/cult/weird thing analysis! Looks at things from an objective and skeptical view, and is very in depth. Recently served as a consulting producer on an HBO Max documentary on the Love has Won cult.
Ask a Mortician- death content! Covers various historical events and darker stories of death from the view of a Mortician.
*Izzzyzz- deep dives into fandoms, as well as well as different video games and kids' virtual worlds.
Disney Dan- Disney content! Covers the history of different mascot costumes at Disney and Disney-like parks! Has collaborated with Definctland in the past too!
Yesterworld- theme park content! Discusses history behind rides and parks, as well as some Disney movies. I think has also collaborated with Defunctland and Disney Dan?
Legal Eagle- legal content! Breaks down news about ongoing legal cases in a way that feels approachable. I like him because both my parents are paralegals and his videos have helped me understand what they mean when they're talking about work a little bit
Super Eye patch Wolf- media video essays! Mostly about anime/manga and video games, but also covers things like influencer scams and pro wrestling. His "what the internet did to Garfield" video is SO GOOD
*Jessie Gender- Media Analysis, loves Star Trek
*Laura Crone- Media Analysis video essays, her videos on the Swan Princess are fucking great I highly recommend!
*Lady Emily- Media Analysis, did a whole video on Spuder-Man turn off the dark that is SO good. Co writer for Sarah Z
Tale Foundry- covers different forms of fiction, their xenofiction video is great, as is their Angelarium one!
Defunctland- Theme Park ride and Children's TV History channel!
Jenny Nicholson- one of the sort of "big three" commentary channels with Lindsay Ellis and Sarah Z imo, covers all sorts of stuff but her most recent one is a 3 hour video on the theme park Evermore Park!
*Sarah Z- Fandom history and Media analysis! I really enjoy their content, the Johnlock Conspiracy and DashCon videos are my favorites!
Li Speaks- Flash games/virtual world analysis mostly! She has a very soothing voice to listen to, if you played like. Any MMOs or virtual worlds growing up I Highly recommend. I've watched her video on Horseland SO many times.
*Codex Entry- Video game coverage! Her videos on Pathologic are great if you're like me and wanted more after the Hbomberguy video!
Wendigoon- ARG/Spooky content! One of the early proponents of the Mandela Catalog and best known for his conspiracy theory iceberg, but has also covered things like various weird/unsolved crimes, Assassination conspiracies, and other things. His videos on Faith, Blood Meridian, The Mandela Catalog, and his Religion/Cult iceberg are some of my favorites
Dino Diego- Dinosaur fiction, like movies, video games, books, short stories, etc. his 2 videos on West of Eden and Winter in Eden are two of my favorites!
Haley Whipjack- I don't know how to describe her content really? She does a lot of deep dives (her Shrek one is my favorite), currently doing a recap of Once Upon a Time by season that is very fun. She's an elementary school teacher by day (that's not me dozing her she talks about it on her channel), and so she has fun unhinged teacher energy!
Other channels that are a sort of collection of different people talking about different things rather than 1 or 2:

IT'S DONE IT'S DONE IT'S DONE IT'S DONE
I've been grinding away at this for months. I can't wait for people to see it. This project turned out to have a lot of gears behind it, so check out the artist statement below!
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
I love this song. The first time I heard it, I already began picturing a story where a woman stumbled upon a gathering of birds in the forest and became so enthralled by their song that she partied with them until she became a bird, herself. It turns out that isn’t too far off from the singer, Yma Sumac’s, first experiences learning to sing. She would imitate the animals near her home in the hills of the Andes mountains as a very young kid, developing a vocal range that would make her famous later on.
From there, I fell into a montage of research on her life and the Peruvian festival music that defined her early career, as well as the complicated story of the exotica music she became most known for in the United States. I followed that up with a month-long dive into northwest Peruvian culture, mythology, ornithology, flora, and topographical studies. Then, I blacked out somewhere during the drawing phase, and now I’m here.
While I really value what I’ve learned while doing this project, I think it’s important to note that I did it all as an amateur researcher and a foreigner to the subject. I decided it would be a little conceited to try to make a totally accurate depiction of a traditional Peruvian festival, so I instead focused on referencing the regional variation of these traditions. Costumes and music have their own specific designs and textures depending on the area, and dances and festivities reflect local history. Yet, it all shares the same themes of celebrating prosperity and surviving hardship. Common motifs and characters reflect a shared heritage and cultural identity that coexists with individuality. It’s all just very cool to me.
So I asked myself, what if these birds had their own version of these traditions? What would a bird sing a folk song about? What would be new and cool to Yma, but still familiar enough that she could join in? (I got lucky, since Peruvian festival culture is already very reverent of birds and feather patterns.)
What I ended up with pulled a lot from the Carnaval de Cajamarca, which originated in the next town over from Yma’s childhood home of Ichocán. It also references these dances, among others:
Huaylarsh - Los Emplumados - Marinera - Tondero - White Dance / Los Chunchos
It’s also important to know that I took a lot of creative liberties with my research to pull the story together. I hope I haven’t used any elements in a harmful or insensitive way–and if I have, I’d like to know so that I can apologize. (I also missed out on some cool stuff, like the White Dance always having shaker beads on the legs.) I highly encourage you to have a look at some of the sources I did, and to look further if you’re interested. I found it all very enlightening, and I hope you will too.
Yma’s wikipedia, which seems like a mostly accurate overview based on other sources

The ornithology archive that saved my ass
I’d like to work on uploading all the frames as an image reel somewhere so they can be looked at individually. Might take a while, though.
Thanks for watching!
(To those using a screen reader, the video description follows this message. I'd like to apologize for putting the description as the last thing on the post. Not only is it extremely long, but this seemed to be the rare instance where the description would benefit from the context of the post's commentary before being read itself. I wrote and formatted this description in a way that I hoped would apply to aid various disabilities that impede enjoying music videos, and I am very interested in getting feedback.)
DESCRIPTION
[The following is presented as an animatic (a series of still images edited into a video) set to music. The art is drawn with condensed yet fuzzy pastel-like linework and full color. The song used is “Chuncho” by Yma Sumac. The song was composed to imitate the various sounds of tropical birds and animals. It has no lyrics, at least in a traditional sense. I, the describer, have tried my best to translate the especially abstract nature of this song into language that can be interpreted through text. Please use the best of your imagination to fill in the rest. An audio description will always refer to the visual description that follows it.
Audio: A male interviewer asks, “Since you are referred to the bird who became a woman in your native Peru, Ms. Sumac, may we hear your exotic voice?”
Visuals: A title card appears with gold lettering on a black background. It reads one word: Chuncho. The word is depicted as if it were carved into a flat surface with loose individual strokes.
Audio: A woman answers, “I will try to imitate the birds, as I did in my earliest years in the mountains of Peru.”
Visuals: Credits appear, also in gold text: Sung by Yma Sumac (Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chàvarri del Castillo. Drawn by Carlie Hughes (rainbowchewynuggets).
Audio: The music begins with the steady four-note strumming of a guitar, which will continue throughout the song. Then, it is accompanied by low ragged notes from a heavy woodwind instrument.
Visuals: A green cicada flicks its wings as it rests on a plant with jagged leaves and a little white flower growing from the middle. Beetles of green, red, and yellow crawl around on trees and ferns among puffy yellow blooms. Yellow humpback beetles huddle together on a cold stone surface as mothlike butterflies cling to hanging purple-grey moss in the background. A cluster of butterflies of black, green, blue, orange, purple, and red flare their wings along stems and vines. A line of spiny cocoons hang from a vine leading up the center of the group.
Audio: A vocalist, the same woman as before, begins to sing in vocables. Her first notes are short, round, and bubbly, like the chirping of a small bird. The lilt of a flute follows.
(“B-bm, bui-bui-buiii…”)
Visuals: A small village sits on the side of a forested and scrub-covered mountain at night. Buildings twinkle with yellow and blue window light through the darkness. At the edge of the forest, a tall lean woman appears with warm orange skin, long black hair, a simple green dress cinched at the waist with blue trim on the neck, hem, wrist, and waist, and a powder blue shawl tied at the chest. She sneaks away from the village into the temperate tropical forest, glancing back to make sure hasn’t been followed. She grows more at ease as she leaves the buildings behind and strides between bushes, deeper into the trees. She passes a flowering plant with orange petals. Its bulbs are held aloft on long, long stems.
Audio: The vocalist sings in elongated threads of notes, wavering in a minor key in a mischievous way.
(“Whu, hu-uuuu…”)
Visuals: The woman grazes her fingers along a bush with little black berries and white spiky flowers. Her hand passes up and down with the shape of the bush, like the rise and fall of an ocean wave. She walks uphill, past pink clover and increasingly frequent stones.
Audio: The vocalist clicks and rolls her tongue with her notes, like drops of water splashing across stones.
(“Dlu, dlu-dlu-dlu-dlu-buiii…”)
Visuals: A voice suddenly gets her attention. The voice passes by as a green line with wide wave forms. The woman follows it. She passes through a stone forest–dense moss-covered rock formations that reach up toward the sky. The ground below is streaked with snake trails. The line of song is now yellow. It leads her forward along a trail through the rocks. She climbs a more precarious formation of boulders, through dense shrubbery and a dramatic rocky landscape. As the voice shifts redder, her colors shift pinker. Even the environment’s colors are shifting to pinks and blues. She climbs a hill, past tall spindly trees and a nearly vertical mountainside. The pink line of song leads her still upward.
Audio: The vocalist belts out the deep throaty call of a tropical bird trying to be heard far and wide. The notes increase in frequency, then widen into a whoop that softens to a murmur. The flute follows her with a few short forceful notes.
(“Ah, bya bya bya-bya-bya-bya-bya-byaaa, whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-wi, wa-wa-wa wiii…”)
Visuals: When the woman reaches the top of the hill, a light shines up at her from the other side, returning her original colors. Below, she sees a gathering of human-sized bird people celebrating on a leafy platform. They’re dancing in different sized circles around a tree at the center. Rainbow colored ribbons of different lengths have been tied to the branches of the tree and hang down to form the silhouette of a condor. More ribbons and colorful bulbs hang from the leaves above. The line of song (now light blue) travels in a circle around the tree trunk. The camera zooms in, revealing details of the birds and their costumes. The birds are pigeons, hawks, cuckoos, seedbirds, and corvids. They’re all dressed in colorful hats, vests, slacks, and dresses with patterns that reflect those of their feathers. A circle of spotted woodpeckers closest to the trunk wear purple gowns and party hats. The party’s singing expands the blue circle of light. A wider circle of yellow, green, and white birds sit and watch the celebration from the edges of the platform. As a line of bright manakin birds zip by with their hands clasped together, the woman approaches from a nearby branch. She’s enticed by the party and joins the dance, clasping hands with a green parrot and leading the line with a broad smile on her face.
Audio: The vocalist makes a quick sudden series of escalating notes, then makes a hard sound with her teeth and returns to a low whoop. The flute echoes her.
(Ba-bana-baba-cht!,  waw waw waw waw waw waw waw wiii…”)
Visuals: The birds switch to individual dances. A short red woodpecker and a tan long-necked bird with ribbons in her hair dance and sing together, their lines of song intertwining. The woman and three pigeons in red and black dresses stomp their heels in a quartet dance. She follows their steps flawlessly, familiar with the type of dance. When they begin to sing and whistle, she joins them–though her voice isn’t as strong as theirs and her line of song is thin and brittle.
Audio: The vocalist makes a low growl, at first imperceptible, that grows to a steady rumble. The flute follows.
(“Rhhh…, rhh, rhh rhhh…”)
Visuals: Then, the lights darken and redden. The woman stops to notice all the other birds heading to the back of the platform. They climb and flutter up to sit in fruit-bearing branches that grow just beyond. The woman finds herself a spot and picks a piece of fruit to eat. She takes a bite as a show begins. A band of various birds wearing ponchos and cloth hats sit down by the show platform. They play their instruments (flute, guitars and a drum) and count in the performance.
Audio: The vocalist makes more short bubbly chirps. They grow higher in small strings of notes until the phrase ends with a low long note.
(“Bom-bom, t-bom-bom-bom, mbom-bom wiii…”)
Visuals: Five owls appear, bathed in magenta spotlight before the center tree trunk. All of them have their yellow-spotted wings wrapped to mostly cover their black and gold-trimmed dresses. The four owls on the sides are short and red, while the one in the center is tall and bright purple. As all five begin to sing a golden song, they operatically open their wings and extend their feathers. As the light darkens to violet, the black and gold patterns in the folds of their wings leap out as if exposed to blacklight. They extend their arms upward and then double over to kneel on the stage, fully splaying their wings in a dramatic display. The woman watching is transfixed.
Audio: The vocalist rolls a noise from the back of her throat. Once, twice, three times–before hitching the roll up and down and letting it trail off. The flute makes a low hollow arc of a note.
(“Ghhh, ghhh, ghh gh-gh-gheee…”)
Visuals: Cut to the next performance. Two teams of blackbirds with long waving feathers compete, standing on each other’s shoulders to form two pyramids. The one at the top of each team lunges forward to try to strike the other with a long stick, propelled by their team. Their feathers glow with yellow light from above. The team on the left—with orange vests and red sashes—strikes first, only nearly missing. They gloat as the lime vest and green sash team on the right recoils and protests. Then, it’s the green team’s turn to take a confident lunge, forcing the red to frantically pull back in time to dodge. On the next strike, the red team buries the stick in the top of the enemy pyramid (actually tucked under the green leader’s arm). The victim feigns a mortal wound, and the entire team flies away. The red team poses, victorious. The red leader gets down to the floor to greet the widow of the green team, wearing a green dress. She peers at him from behind a silky black wing. As soon as he lands, she whacks him over the head with her own concealed stick. He is surprised. She is unamused.
Audio: The vocalist lets out a ghostly wail that wavers wildly like an eerie wind, higher and higher. A shaker instrument rumbles beneath her voice.
(“Woaaa… woaaa… woaa–”)
Visuals: Next, it’s dark. Three colorful birds in masks and costumes tread the air at an angle on the left side of the screen against a blue and green background. There’s a yellow spiky one, representing lightning. A blue round-feathered one, representing rain. And a spade-feathered green one, representing trees. Long beaded threads tied to their wings and tails wave and tangle across the screen as a group of five hummingbirds in shades of red struggle to survive the “storm” raging around them. The colored ribbons of the central tree are muted and flutter with the power of the wind. Two other birds hug the trunk, nearly out of sight. There’s a prop on the floor to the right made to look like a stone alcove, where more hummingbirds are hiding. The storm bringer birds beat their wings hard, casting the strings of lightning, water, and leaf shaped beads in huge chaotic waves. The five hummingbirds in vests and dresses wince and tumble against the wind, flying together in a tight circle. The threads crisscross behind them, an overwhelming force on the tiny birds’ scale. A red line of song floats up to reach them, guiding them down to the nest.
Audio: When her wail is at its highest, the vocalist pushes it further into the voice of a shrill songbird. The note hangs high in the air, then takes a few steps down and up. The segment ends with the sudden interjection of the low round voice–as if in surprise–and a trailing mumble.
(“Haaa, aa-aa aa-aa aa-aa, hoa? Ah, bw-huh…”)
Visuals: Those in the stone nest finish singing and reunite with the others, pulling them down to safety. A blackbird hiding behind the trunk spreads its wings, sitting on the shoulders of a brown woodpecker. The blackbird’s vest and wingspan are covered in yellow, signaling the coming of daylight. The storm birds retreat and sit still on a nearby branch. The wind is suddenly gone.
Audio: The guitar plays alone.
Visuals: After the stage performances, the audience members move back to the platform. They’re gathered off to the far left side of the central tree trunk, standing in a circle around a single figure. The light of the gathering area is deep plum-purple in far off areas and warm dull pink over the crowd. The empty space around the single dancer is salmon red, and the figure herself is blue.
Audio: The vocalist perfectly mimics the sound of a flutter, of delicate waving in the wind.
(“W-w-w-w-w-w-w”)
Visuals: The camera zooms in on her hand as it flits a pink handkerchief in the air.
Audio: The vocalist belts a pair of bold staunch vocables. The second note is held for several seconds before fading out.
(“Kyen, kyen…”)
Visuals: The camera pulls back to reveal the rest of her. She’s a blue eagle with wings that grade from red at the arms to pink to blue at the wingtips in a wavy pattern. Her smiling beak is bright pink. Her dress is royal blue with reddish-pink trimmed ruffles on the hem of the skirt, waist frill, neck frill, and the flower decoration on the side of her head. She stands with the hem of her dress in one hand and the handkerchief extended in the other in an open invitation to dance. A pale pink spotlight frames her head and shoulders against the darkness, and a dark pink line of song passes behind her. Her partner, an eagle of the same coloration with a blue vest and pants, pink shirt, pale orange sash, a blue hat in one hand, and a pink hanky of his own raised in the other, is calling to her. He puts his hands behind his back and takes high steps toward her. When the two are close, they turn and walk parallel to each other in a slow circle. The male’s back is to his partner. He looks at her over his shoulder with a smile and abruptly splays his feathers to be cute. There’s a layer of pink under his outer coat. She grins, entertained.
Audio: The vocalist repeats the two vocables, twisting the end of the second up into a high wavering trill that eventually soothes and disappears.
(“Kyen, kye–eee, ee, eee, ee…”)
Visuals: The two turn to face each other, circling tighter and tighter in unified song until they’re face to face, looking deep into each other’s eyes. With another turn, they’ve passed by each other and out of sight.
Audio: The vocalist makes a whisper, a ghost of the two vocables. Then, a few quick whistles, barely loud enough to hear.
(“Hyo, hyo”)
Visuals: The woman, who has been captivated by the dance, suddenly notices that the crowd has dispersed around her. Partners are walking off in all directions, leaving her alone. The dance is over.
Audio: The guitar picks up, getting faster and louder for a bit.
Visuals: The woman walks alone in the blue night air along a tangle of tree branches that form a pathway. She walks with her hands behind her back, her face looking preoccupied and a little disappointed. Bushels of soft leaves pass by in the background.
Audio: A high, light pleasant note from the vocalist overtakes the guitar. It grows until it fills the soundscape.
(“Aaa…”)
Visuals: An orange song reaches her from the direction she came, and she stops. When she turns, she sees a blue swift standing on the branch path, far behind her in an opening in the trees. The underside of his feathers is dingy orange, and he’s wearing a black vest, white pants, a rusty red sash around his waist, a bright green kerchief around his neck, and an orange rectangular accessory tied around his neck like a necklace. His face is obscured by a white hat with an orange band. He bows low with a hand on the hat. The hat comes off, revealing inviting eyes and a smiling orange beak. The woman grins and accepts the invitation with determination.
Audio: The vocalist draws long high vocables that resemble a wail. They trail off with a low note.
(“Whoa whoaaa…”)
Visuals: She and the swift untie the fabric around their necks and step toward each other as the line of song forms a ring above them. The woman holds the ends of the shawl in her hands and her hands at her hips with the body of the shawl hanging behind her waist. The bird holds his kerchief out in one hand with the hat in the other, held behind his back. He takes measured winding steps along the branches. The woman mirrors his steps, then pushes off of the main path and lands on an outcropping branch.
Audio: The vocalist’s song wavers back up and demurely bobs up and down, intertwined with tweeting from the flute.
(“Hoa…  ohee…”)
Visuals: Her voice, seafoam green and a little stronger than before, trails behind her. She darts back onto the main branch and ducks behind the bird, then circles around to face him, the two only a few feet apart. They exchange steps pushing the other forward and back and flicking their garments in time with their movements. The woman’s voice grows stronger, nearly matching his. The bird quickly catches up as she moves backward, dancing beside her. The two dancers then leap from the main branch and fall down into the rocky forest below, passing by grassy plateaus and vines creeping through stone. Their song follows all the way down. They leap across boulders in the moonlight, side by side. The swift suddenly stops and folds his kerchief around the center of the shawl, hitching the two together.
Audio: The vocalist belts a complex series of syllables that mimic the heavy majestic cawing of a large bird or hawk. The flute makes itself known a little as the voice fades out.
(“Hlau-lau-lau hau-au-wau-wa-wiii…”)
Visuals: The woman, at the receiving end of the momentum, is swung wide and lets out a vibrant complex line of song that could match any bird’s. The two pull closer to each other and end their song on a low steady note. Then, they bow to each other as the camera pulls back. They’re standing on a rock that rises above a basin of  water among huge formations of rock. Pairs of birds dance all around them in the shallows.
Audio: The guitar takes over for a bit.
Visuals: The camera cuts to an upward view of a varied group of birds sitting in branches, staring downward with interest. The light from the moon coming down through a break in the trees above is now cool green. The light coming up from where the birds are looking is orange-red.
Audio: The vocalist lets out the aggressive growling of a cat.
(“U-wau, wau-wau-wau-wau”)
Visuals: Below, the woman is dancing in a line with three reddish woodpeckers in a greenish clearing in the trees. They wear intricately detailed dresses in different combinations of bright green, yellow, red, and black with geometric and floral embroidery. The dresses are cinched at the waist with a piece of fabric covered in colored bands. Their heads are covered in scarves with the same colors and patterns. They sing and step aggressively toward the left of the screen. At the other side of the clearing, a line of four red and white faced woodpeckers with green beaks and wings face right. They wear bright green hats, kerchiefs, and sashes, yellow and black striped vests, and dark red pants with yellow tassels at the ankles. Their black shoes tap against the ground as they make quick little dance steps and flutter yellow handkerchiefs. They hold onto the brims of their hats and then lean down with a flourish of their arms, exposing the red crests of their heads sticking up underneath. The dance then changes formation. The girls dance in a line to the left as the boys step in a line to the right.
Audio: The growl hushes down to a wavering whisper, like wings beating in the dark.
(“Tchwahh-cwah-cwah-cwah-cwah-cwah-cwah-cwah…”)
Visuals: Out on a cliff by a waterfall, the scene is bathed in cyan. The line of dancers–alternating male, female, male, female–do a hopping dance from partners on the left to those on the right and back again as they move along the cliff, passing behind the waterfall as it disappears into the greenery in the foreground.
Audio: The guitar asserts itself again.
Visuals: Everything is suddenly red. A guitarist in a blue poncho and a red neck sash frets the neck of a guitar with a brown feathered hand. Rainbow ribbons are tied to the headstock. A deep orange song emanates from the strings.
Audio: The vocalist quickly accompanies the guitar with a harmonized version of the growl that revs up climatically, taking steps up the scale until it’s at its absolute height.
(“U-wa-wa ee-ee eh-oh! Oh-oh-oh-ohh!”)
Visuals: A congress of the partygoing birds stand in lines facing each other, all wearing blue outfits with red kerchiefs with rainbow tassels on them. The group jumps up and down in unison as part of a dance. The party breaks into smaller dances, and the woman dances by herself. She’s wearing a green skirt and flowy purple top with red underskirt, waist cinch, and scarf. Rainbow tassels are attached to the overskirt, and they swish with her movements. Beside her are a hawk woman and a pair of long billed bird men dancing in a circle with their ankles locked. A pair of red birds with white streaks on their wings suddenly hoist the woman into the air, as other birds are hoisted in the distance. As she’s held aloft, she sings and spreads her arms, revealing more tassels on her top, resembling wings. Her song is immense and beautiful. The camera focuses on one of the hoisted birds in the background, who has executed a handstand with the person who threw them. The blackbird’s feathers are all sorts of bright colors. The song passes by behind him. The excitement of the party disguises the presence of a looming pair of yellow slitted eyes peering out from a dark spot between the leaves nearby. A trio of purple pigeons dancing in a line with twigs and colored strings in their hands dip and weave together. The one in front balks, noticing the threat at last.
Audio: The high energy of the music suddenly cuts out. The shrill call of a small bird climbs up out of the silence.
(“Eee…”)
Visuals: A striped short legged pampas cat pounces into the center of the dance field. It misses the birds, but the illusion is shattered. The bird people are just birds again. They fly in a frenzy up through the trees to the safety of the early morning sky. The hilltop erupts with silhouettes of wings.
Audio: When the small bird’s call is at its highest, it tumbles back down and transforms into a low disquieting wail. The guitar re-enters.
(“Ee-ee-ee-ah-ahh ahh oohhh…”)
Visuals: The pampas cat has retreated into the dim tawny forest. It stands on a bent tree branch among bushes and hanging moss and stares into the camera with glowing yellow pupils. A tiny rodent scurries by and into a bush. The cat notices and darts after it. Nearby, dozens of bats hang from the underside of a rock formation that extends over a field of berry bushes. Their sleepy heads are tucked into their folded wings. A straggler flaps up to join the rest as the sun continues to rise. Elsewhere, a hive with wasp-like insects resting on the outside hangs over a rock. Sunlight gleams over the scene from a break in the trees in the background. A large brown mouse climbs up on the rock, backlit by the sun. It grabs a wasp in its teeth and leaves before the rest of the hive can wake up.
Audio: The vocalist makes a low steady murmur. A couple shakes from the shaker instrument follow.
(“Hoo…”)
Visuals: A colony of green and brown frogs with purple eye ridges, yellow faces, and orange bellies are asleep on dewy ridges of rock. A green cicada hangs out on a leaf off to the top left corner. The mouse jumps down through their resting spot, waking them all up. The frogs croak a green song as the cicada hangs on for dear life on the swinging leaf. The wind moans through the crevices of another stone forest. The little flowering shrubs that grow on the rocks bristle in the breeze. A variety of green, yellow, and blue lizards poke their heads out of the rocks, into the morning light.
Audio: The vocalist repeats the murmur. The flute follows this time.
(“Hoo…”)
Visuals: The camera pulls back to view the entire rock formation. The still rising sun shines only on the top half of right-facing stones. Long spindly tree trunks grow from the top left, out of sight. Long grass waves on the ground below. An alpaca-like vicuña raises its head from the long grass, facing the light. In the branches of the trees above, various birds perch facing left.
Audio: The vocalist makes a mysterious sound that begins as a harsh sound between her teeth and ends as a whisper. It echoes in the background.
(“Chwah-ah…”)
Visuals: The camera turns back to the village. Golden light casts diagonally across the brown roofs and tan buildings. The silhouette of a small bird flies toward the center of town.
Audio: The vocalist makes the sound again, then pulls the whisper up into a harsh repeated rasp from the back of her throat.
(“Chwah-ah qwah-qw-qw-qw-qw-qwah-qwah-qwah”)
Visuals: Down in between the one-story houses, the bird flutters down. Long shadows lay across a passage leading toward a door on the side of a building. We see the shadow of the woman land in the soft dirt path where the bird’s would have. She heads toward the door at a walking pace.
Audio: The call returns to a whisper. The vocalist clicks her throat in a short series of hollow sounds, nearly like the creaking of wood.
(“Qwk-qwk-qwk-qwk-qwk, qwk qwk qwk qwk”)
Visuals: As she opens the door to enter the purple interior light of the house, we see that she’s back in her green dress, but now her shawl is red. The sun glints in her hair. Before she goes inside, she looks back and winks at the camera with a smile. Then, she slowly pulls the door behind her until it’s shut.
Audio: The vocalist lets out her breath entirely as the accompanying music trickles into silence.
(“Haaa…”)
Visuals: The screen is black for a few seconds.
Audio: The high whistling call of a green manakin can be heard over the rustling of forest trees. The call’s tone is raised at the end, like it’s asking a question.
(“Twee?… Twee?… Twee?… Twee?”)
Visuals: The end card appears. Yellow and green lettering and a border lay on a black background. The text reads: Yma Sumac. Peruvian soprano and composer. October 13th 1922 until November 1st 2008. Biographical and reference info in description. Chuncho, 1953. Written by Moises Vivanco. Capitol Records, Universal Music Publishing Group. Carlie Hughes. Favorite Killugon Headcannons??
Thanks for asking! I have a ton of headcanons about them because I've been into HxH for years and I think about them constantly... Some of the ones I have are longer and I'd like to develop them into fanfics eventually or at least individual posts, but here are some random shorter ones off the top of my head:
I prefer to think they end up with a similar height difference to the one they have now, just a few inches apart with Killua being a bit taller. This might be genetically unlikely, but it's my own preference.
They share a bed most of the time starting in Heavens Arena. Every now and then Killua will decide to go sleep in his own room (because they each get rooms in Heavens Arena for reaching the 100th floor), which leaves Gon feeling a bit lonely. They just get one room after Heavens Arena, and even if there are two beds in the room they'll still usually end up sharing one. The exception is if they're in a situation where someone else is likely to see them (i.e. Bisky in Greed Island), in that case Killua definitely splits off into his own bed. They don't generally intentionally, full-on cuddle/hug until after they reunite/get together, but they do end up sleeping right up against each other a lot nonetheless (accidentally or "accidentally"), which they both quietly love.
They're both casually touchy with each other, like arms over shoulders, fluffing each others' hair, play wrestling, sitting close together, sometimes even holding hands if one is guiding the other somewhere, etc., but again they don't really full-on hug until things change between them. Gon doesn't want to push Killua's boundaries too much because he knows Killua gets flustered if Gon gets too affectionate, and it's just an emotionally vulnerable thing to do. They certainly both think about it, though.
Gon is naturally an early riser and he's a deep sleeper, Killua struggles with insomnia because of his training and he tends to stay up late and sleep in if they don't have anything important going on. Killua's sleep patterns get more normalized by being around Gon, but he's usually up about an hour or more later even then (playing video games, watching movies, etc.).
Gon can make basic, simple foods because Mito taught him, Killua doesn't know how to cook at all at first because he grew up with butlers, but Gon gradually teaches him how to make some things. (They do eat out a lot, though.)
Gon tends to keep everything clean and tidy in their living spaces, Killua is a lot messier and will leave stuff laying around if Gon isn't there to remind him.
They teach each other about the differences in culture where they each grew up, like mythology/folk stories, holidays, popular phrases, etc.
They both have nightmares and flashbacks at times post-CAA (Killua always did, but they intensify) and once they reunite, they help comfort each other through those. It helps a lot once they're reunited, because they can easily know the other one is safe.
This may have to change someday depending on what Togashi does or doesn't do in canon, haha, but I like to think their separation isn't all that long, maybe a year or less, and once they're back together and working things out it doesn't take them all that long to confess to each other and start a relationship. Especially because once Gon realizes how he feels it's hard for him to hold it back; he only stops himself if he doesn't think Killua is ready to hear it yet.
Once they're in a relationship, it's basically like their natural state of being and they never even consider breaking up. Of course they both have things they have to work through and they have to learn to communicate better, but they adore each other and they're incredibly happy to be together. They're very affectionate with each other once they get through the initial stages of the relationship where they're just figuring things out.
Gon loves PDA, Killua is self-conscious about it but allows it in small doses because it makes him a little happy even if it's embarrassing.
They eventually have a house built on Whale Island, not far from Gon's childhood home. They have places elsewhere, too, because they love traveling around, but it's nice for them to be able to go "home" when they want to.
They never grow out of having silly competitions, light-hearted bickering, playing harmless pranks on each other, etc.
I could go on and on, but at least this is a start. It was fun thinking about it and writing some up instead of just having them live in my head all the time, thanks again for asking!

Meeeeee
This was a nice thing to be tagged in! I have not been feeling great the past few days and my brain is juuust starting to work again. Answer questions about myself? Way easier than answering character questions right now! Thank you for the tag @thefreelanceangel! 1. Are you named after anyone?
Yes and no and kinda? Good answer? Ok. I'll move on then. Just kidding. Time to ramble more! My first name is Rhiannon (Ree-ann-in). I'm named after the Fleetwood Mac song if that means anything to anyone. But my mom liked it so much not -just- because she was a musicophile (she is definitely that) but also because she liked the Welsh mythology. My middle name, which I won't put here so that I can maintain my ever so slight air of mystery, was in honor of my aunt on my mom's side and my uncle on my dad's side who both have variations of the name.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Uh. I cry all the time so asking me to remember specifically when isn't fair. I teared up last night after watching the episode of The Toys That Made Us on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. ^^;
3. Do you have kids?
Like @thefreelanceangel, I've got pets! No kids for a multitude of reasons. That can be someone else's journey to go on.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Nah. Never.
5. What sports do you play/have you played?
I used to really enjoy playing soccer, pickle ball, and tennis. I'm far too out of shape to be good at any of those anymore. Now my favorite sport to play is "I walked up and down the stairs to do laundry so, you know, I'm killing it."
6. What is the first thing you notice about other people?
I don't know! I think I take in the whole -motions with hands to indicate the whole everything- first. Not in a nitpicky, judgmental, dumb way (god, then you could do that back to ME and I really would prefer you don't). Just the first thing I notice is the person? And the vibe? Like an immediate: Do I feel comfortable? Am I nervous? Do they seem nervous? Do they seem nice? Oh god, do I seem nice? If I talk to them, how likely are they to want to punt me across the room? Heh. Is that a good opening line that would make us both feel less nervous? "Hi! Nice to meet you. You're not likely to punt me across the room are you?" I may have just given away that I am a very introverted, anxious, and peculiar person above. That's Ok. Please don't punt me.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
Why not both? Depends on my mood! Well. And I suppose the exact kind of scary or happy movie, too.
8. Any special talents?
Ummmmmm... I don't think I'm terrible at writing or singing. I could be a lot better at both, of course, but I could be a lot worse too! Are those boring? I'll try to think of a more interesting answer. I can sing every song backwards, flawlessly, and completely without error. That sounds like a special talent, right? I mean, it possibly (definitely) isn't true, but maybe it's more interesting to imagine.
9. Where were you born?
This reads like a "Just curious, what's the answer to one of the security questions you're likely to get asked frequently?" I was born in the backseat Of a Mustang On a cold night In the hard rain And the very first song that the radio sang Was "I won't be home no more." -Old 97s
10. Do you have any hobbies?
Changing the words to songs to put my cats' names in them, making up entirely new songs to sing at my cats, singing entirely made up songs about whatever task I am currently doing ("Singing while I type about my-se-e-e-e-elf. Singing cuz this quiz ain't about no one e-e-e-else.") ((<-- I didn't say the songs were any -good-) I write. I play video games. I watch a whooole lot of YouTube. I play tabletop RPGs. I daydream constantly about a vast array of other hobbies I want to take up but haven't yet.
11. Do you have any pets?
I do! One big ole fluffy black cat. One lil'r, sleek black cat. One old man leopard gecko. And maybe all the crickets that he hasn't eaten.
12. How tall are you?
5′ 2. The doctor has tried to tell me I'm actually 5' 1 and a half. But the doctor is obviously wrong. You really just can't trust doctors.
13. Favorite Subject in School:
Grade school and high school? Art and English. College: Cultural Anthropology and Linguistics. Though, to be honest, I only really got into Cultural Anthropology in the first place because the professor was really attractive. >.> I later learned to genuinely like the subject though! Despite my social anxiety, I -really- love learning about people and culture and I'm crazy about language.
14. Dream job?
Something that allows me to be myself and celebrates it! So anything that allows me the creative space to write/sing/act/engage with others in my full exuberance would be amazing. I'd really like to own a cat cafe. Or maybe a bookstore with a kitty. I'd just really like jobs that would allow me space to either feel wildly creative or wildly at peace.
15. Eye Color?
Brown. Brownish-green. Hazel, I guess! Or whatever color the oil sheen on my constantly icky glasses makes my eyes. -_- I swear, I can't get these things clean.
TAGGING: @herowren, @faustinebellamy, @argentrenard, @the-wanted-man, @lettersnorth, @unabashedrebel, @damienward-ffxiv, @irascibleblackguard and everyone!

Going to text dump about a fic I've been wanting to write for forever (and I've been trying to) but I keep getting stuck
I know I'm writing this to reach out and to get any possible opinions and reactions, but also to finally get it out of my head
I've wanted to rewrite the perspective of Stranger Things had it been a majority cast of color but instead of the sci-fi conspiracy theory, it would be a mix of mythology, gods, and monsters of fiction and myths.
It would branch off from another AU I wrote a bit before for (and will likely rewrite) about Persephone being exiled from "Olympus" and now lives as a mortal on earth, going through several reincarnation, and doesn't remember her life as a goddess. Hera rules Olympus, and Zeus is out of commission. That was an AU from the mindfuck show Legion
But back to the Stranger Things Myth and Modern Day AU:
Eleven is one of three muses that was accidentally let into the mortal realm at the same time that Will was abducted due to a rift in the dimensions.
Also what came in with her was the Demogorgon, but it isn't like in the show. In this one, it acts like an octopus being able to camouflage with its surroundings
When the Demogorgon came in, there was reports from lots of the Fish and Wildlife Reserves about something killing the animals in unusually large numbers and brutal ways
Like in the show, the parents and friends are scared and desperate for Will to return. Except in this one, the kids would have recently learned in a textbook or watched a special that covered about child abductions. (Now this part is tricky because whether the Byers will be changed to either Indigenous, or Latino, or Black, or Biracial will determine the lesson. Either way it's supposed to serve as foreshadowing.)
Like I said, Eleven would be a Muse but not the cute cherub kinds; she isn't a human mortal and thus acts as such. Her eyes would be different. I admit to taking inspiration from M83's music video Midnight City and I'm thinking about making her eyes glow at night so she'll have to wear shades in the dark
Because this would be set in modern times, so I'll be taking some inspiration from movies like Searching and Missing with the search for Will, but instead of finding him, they find out more strange shit is happening around the world because the rift didn't just happen there in Hawkins.
Also Nancy smokes weed and she's learning she's bisexual. She's depressed (Trauma by Doja Cat) and that's one reason she's an overachiever. Pushing herself too hard and too much may be her downfall
Also (unrelated 👆🏾) Nancy gets possessed by a goddess higher than Eleven and scolds Eleven likes she's a child. Eventually, this starts acting as an aid and partial guide in the search for Will. Whenever this untimely possession happens, it takes away Nancy's energy and health
Also Steve's family is known to have visions that are sometimes premonitions but they're treated as odd dreams with no significance
Also the Byers are one of the people from the long line of descendents of angel/human hybrids
Lucas and Erica and Dustin are siblings by adoption, but Dustin recently reconnected with his birth mother (his mother in the show). But something is up with them too.
I'm debating whether to incorporate other monsters and scary things like black eyed kids, detached voices, flesh eating deer, and so on
This is very much intended to be a story with horror elements and have the feel of conspiracy theories
What do you think?
This is all I have so far

TAG GAME
Tagged by @islemeadow . Thank you so much! ❤
Last song: Sparta by Sabaton
Fav colour: Hard to say. When it comes to clothes, black of course. But, in general, black, dark reds, dark greens, golden, silver, white, grey, some shades of pink, purple and blue... I appreciate then all for different reasons, in various contexts.
Currently watching: At the moment? A video about Biblical monsters. For the record, yes, the random comment in Greek letters is mine. As for shows, I'm in the "wondering what to watch" situation right now.
Last movie: The Nun II, I think. I've re-watched it a lot lately.
Currently reading: The Iliad. And, St. Augustine's Confessions. Both for uni. I had also picked up Livy's Punic Wars, but set it aside for now.
Current obsession: The Antichrist, demons, and Biblical Mythology in general (especially everything to do with Eschatology). Yeah, that's... Not a soothing hobby in the current times. AHS: Apocalypse, which I recently, finally, watched for the previous reasons. And, Warrior Nun. Archangel Michael x The Antichrist ship dynamic. In my original work, and fanfictions. Michael is usually male, and the Antichrist is female, but I've developed a couple of ideas where it's the reverse.
Sweet/Savoury/Spicy: Savoury, and spicy.
Current game: I've never gotten into gaming. Does Gardenscapes count?..
Relationship status: Single
Last google: Something about 3rd declension latin nouns.
Currently working on: Fanfiction-wise? I have a few WIPs, too many for my own good. Sanguis Tenebrarum and Age of Angels are my only WIPs currently published (and I am picking at Ch3 of Sanguis). But, I've been also working on my Warrior Nun Biblical AU. And, my AHS ideas. One, is the Millory arranged marriage thing. The other, is Michael Langdon x OC. Her name is also Michael. You know, the Archangel. You guessed that by now, didn't you?.. They are supposed to marry in the end, if only for the punchline.
Tagging: @horror-blog-78 , @nocakesformissedith , @tisdae , @warriorgay07 , @onceuponaweirdo . No pressure, only if you want to!

Hello I saw Black Mask discussion and I just had to chime in! I need to read more comics on him defiantly to have a full opinion but I think something interesting is how he could parallel Batman (I know like, every villain does, but still lol). Both of them having dealt with trauma and forming these new, dark identities to deal with it, heavily focusing on a mask they wear, seeing they’re civilian identity as the fake persona.
I will also say 2 things I love and found very interesting were Roman’s backstory in this one comic (forgive me I’ve forgotten the name) where he took inspiration from Bruce Wayne’s parents death and decided to kill his own, tying their fates together forever. I think there’s something very messed up about that, the way he co-opted Bruce’s trauma and how like many other iconic villain hero pairs he’s forced them to have this shared connection, even if that wasn’t his intention in the comic. I think he could make a great main nemesis for Batman.
As well Mr. Rouges on YouTube has a great series called the Patient Files, HIGHLY reccomend! Great characterization of him and his bond to Batman. Anyway sorry if I rambled here too much, I just liked that there was good Black Mask discussion going on.
Thank you! I haven't read through all of his comics either, I've just read most of his earliest ones and his more recent ones. I've still gotta go through a bunch more, which I'm not exactly looking forward to… Though the comic you brought up is making me wanna get back to it. I think that sounds really interesting, I wish there was an easier way to find specific comics because I'd love to read that.
I think it's a really interesting connection between the two there, especially since it's something Roman chose on purpose. I've been listening to the Batman Audio Adventures podcast recently, and the mythologizing of the Wayne family's tragedy coming through as repetitive, ghoulish 'true crime' programs really got to me. Roman, with his weird attachment to symbology and how it makes identity, co-opting that kind of tragedy would be a cool twist on it.
I think it's kinda weird how little his criminal pursuits relate to Bruce Wayne for a lot of his appearances, given that his origin story is so tied to him. It's like he completely forgot that Bruce Wayne embarrassed him and that he'd wanted him dead.
I think that his Patient File there is really neat! I think I'll watch a few more, I love how I looked it up and it immediately showed me that there's a Ventriloquist video. Gotta say, it seems really bad when a lot of the people in the comments are like 'wow thank goodness he's not just a torture guy'. My favorite parts are him talking about Gotham being a bad city, and that Batman is misguided in trying to make it good, and then the fun nudge at Jeremiah about his 'mask' looking a lot like Roman's. Wait, and the thing about Harvey being the most honest of them all, given he's got two equally true visible faces. I think that's really interesting and it makes me wish they'd interact (though maybe they did I'm not sure...) Thank you so much for sharing this stuff with me, I really like talking about characters with everyone!

Do you have any niche interests that you haven’t really talked about online?
Oh this is a great question, I have to think about what counts as niche LOL, most of these probably aren't that niche but I'm not sure what else to call them
I definitely have a LOT of interests I don't post too much about, and some of which I haven't fulfilled IRL yet (like I don't have the means to pursue it as a hobby)
Not really "niche" I don't think and I do post about them (not super in depth though) in the sciences include but are not limited to:
Zoology (this is what I'm going to go to college for once I legally change my name)
Entomology
Linguistics
Archaeology
Paleontology
Biology in general
General environmental sciences
Geology
Astronomy
Anthropology
And probably others I am forgetting
Some hobby based interests of mine include the following (I'll put a note next to the ones I can't actually fulfill as of rn):
Tea drinking/brewing/etc. (probably the biggest one I have) (I fulfill this)
Bookbinding (I can't fulfill this yet)
Painting (not very niche) (I fulfill this but I do not feel comfortable sharing any paintings at the moment lol)
Puzzle-solving
Calligraphy/penmanship (not currently fulfilling this)
Reading (not niche at all but generally I don't post about any of the books I read)
Movies? Not inherently niche but I don't post about this and I'm into watching movies like old films, indie films, and cult classics
Macrophotography (not fulfilling this because I don't have the equipment but I do take pictures of bugs with the macrophotography feature on our old family video camera even if they're not great)
Writing and poetry (not niche but I don't post about this at all, I really want to write starting books and currently write poetry)
Theater/acting (not niche but I don't post about this) (also can't fulfill it)
Tarot/divination (I don't truly believe in it but it's just fun)
Okay I don't feel like reorganizing my list above but going from above here are more things I'm into that can't currently fulfill or just haven't fulfilled yet:
Ceramics
Crochet
Fishing (I've done this like three times)
Things like chess, mahjong, go, shogi, koi-koi and other hanafuda games (I don't know how to play chess which embarrasses me greatly)
Sewing in general
Quilting (I've made one quilt!)
Woodworking
Bug keeping (I want roly polies and snails and some others)
Vulture culture (not very legal...)
Foraging (I have an uncle very into this that I need to help me get into this)
Geocaching
Hiking
Biking (been getting into this a bit recently)
Some miscellaneous interests of mine that I'm not sure how to categorize include the following (some of these might be sciences but I feel like they're not as science-y as the ones I listed before)"
Mythology (this...counts as antropology but shh)
Conlangs (counts as linguistics? sort of?)
Vexillology
Language learning (semi-fluent in Spanish, currently learning: Irish, Welsh, (Scottish Gaelic), Scots, Lushootseed, Japanese, Chinese, I want to learn some other languages as well though)
Sunscreen/sunblock/UV protection (I have no idea what to call this but it's a big interest of mine)
Hedgehogs (big special interest of mine throughout my life)
I collect old books (none of them are all that old and I don't seek out any old titles, but if I see an old book I'll usually buy it, although I've had to put a hold on this because I don't have space) (oldest book I have is very late 1800s)
I have no idea how to phrase this but I love learning about the cultures of different countries as well as the differences in variations of English, I guess this is anthropology and linguistics
Lost media
History in general (this falls into archaeology and anthropology)
Dogs? I'm very into stuff about dogs, not like breeding or dog shows but just different stuff about the breeds or stuff about dogs
Animation (I'm into its history and animated features)
Dragons. As a child I was so autistic about them that I refused to read any book without dragons AND they had to be neutral to good dragons (ties into mythology)
Fairies/fae (ties into mythology)
Plushie collecting (I don't seek out specific plushes or try to fill certain spots in a collection, I just like collecting whatever I like)
There's probably more I'm forgetting

I just need to vent a bit-
So, its been a year and so now, isn't it?
It's curious to me how much Techno affected me even tho I wasnt one of his biggest fans at that time, and yet, I went thru some really, really hard times over this, and in some ways, I still am, up until recently I didn't feel the strength to watch his videos, up until recently even if I watched them I couldn't help but smile in a bittersweet way
Not too long ago I was finally able to laugh, to enjoy them again, to not think about how he's not here anymore while hearing his voice, and instead, have fun with what he left for us, and yeah, that's what everyone is been saying to do, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggled with actually doing it, because it IS hard, it's hard to not start to have fun and immediately remember "... He won't be doing this anymore now, huh?" and get sad all over again, even if we know he won't want us to still be crying
I got over it a week or so ago, I finally can watch the great potato war without sobbing for twenty minutes after watching it, and even if the grief won't go yet, I feel like im moving on, never leaving it all behind, but carrying the moments that made it hurt so much in first place, needless to say the happiest ones, in my heart, and overall, I'm full on energy, I've been inspired by him, by his all, like everyone, to do something, to give a meaning to what I do now, to be as strong as him-
And yet... The reason I write this is because of the grief left in me, I can't deny that whenever I go watch the qsmp streams a part of me can't help but wonder "wouldn't this have been so cool if Techno was here?, if he could've been here?"
I can't help but imagine him making fun of the eggs for practically being orphans, just to be forced to take care of one, can't help but imagine him immediately throwing one off of the wall, or maybe training Chayanne, and probably, growing to love Tallulah in a "I've had this child for five minutes, but in a anything happens to her I'll kill everyone in this server" kind of way
How he would tell Greek mythology stories to the eggs, but be the one person extremely against babysitting just to end up doing it a lot because of the insane amount of time he spends playing
Can't help but imagine how he would absolutely attempt presidential assassination against all the candidates and be completely against the federation without a doubt, and how he would've entered that dungeon left for them and absolutely destroyed it
Can't help but imagine Techno doing to forever the same thing he did whenever a baby zombie was near Philza
Can't help but wish the people who didn't get to know him outside of stories actually met him, and him talking to them with his bare knowledge of Spanish, and them reacting to the man himself talking about "blowing up a country" and "farming potatoes for +six months" or how "he once conquered the world" just to have them not believing it until Phil backed up the stories
Can't help but imagine a world where Tallulah didn't have to make an altar for him, and then i get back to reality to realize that... That's not the world where I live in, I live in the world where it's been more than a year since all of this possibilities became impossible and I feel genuinely hurt again, maybe more so over the thought of how much life he had ahead of himself, one that hurts me even more because he's the same age as my older brother
I like to wonder off in my mind sometimes, and imagine just for a bit of escapism, that he'd be giving Wilbur validation in his concerts, or that he would've bullied the life out of Dream when he did his face reveal, and also bullied Skeppy when he met up with bbh, or that he would've been in first line for Tommy's show
Technodad once mentioned on Reddit that Techno had been thinking of writing a story, and that too, would have been awesome to see, as much as all the plans he had and didn't get to do that I and all of his fans keep dreaming over
At the end, I think that the grief left in me, is over how much more time he should've had, over the future that we will never see
I'm sorry for this, I really just needed to vent, I don't want to sound disrespectful or anything really, just some thoughts I had inside of me and needed to get out, I'm sorry if it sounded weird or bad-

( I also semi-recently tried out 'King' but the vibes don't quite fit yknow! prefer the vibe of that as a term of referral - ex: my liege - rather than a name weirdly enough BHGKTRB )
BIRTHDAY: july 7th!
ZODIAC: cancer! i forgot my exact stuff, like rising sign or the like, but i do know that! i got into zodiacs when i was like 13 i think so I know at least MY sign by heart lol
HEIGHT: 5'6! something like that, I think :] which is also 167 centimeters
HOBBIES: drawing, writing ( I have an ao3 I've been neglecting for so long ), dungeons & dragons / general ttrpgs which take up SO much of my week <3, video games, content analysis ( kinda? ), baking, penpal, learning ukulele, learning to sew, learning crochet!
FAV. COLOR: im terrible when it comes to this question because i love a lot of very specific colors because artist brain BUT... If I had to pick one. Probably a red-y brown-y color. I REALLY like warm and neutral colors ( though Quillheel's pallet probably wouldn't invoke that thought ) though i also like a lot of neutral and cooler colors. you can basically reference a rainbow for my preferred colors but even with blue at the bottom ( I'm a big purple-enjoyer ) i still enjoy what good usage of it can do <3
FAV. BOOK: the long walk by stephen king, inkheart by cornelia funke, or frankenstein by mary shelley <3 love different aspects of all of them, though inkheart was a big part of my childhood so i'm biased BHHGTR
LAST SONG: be nice to me by the front bottoms :] i've been listening to a lot of Hozier lately though
LAST MOVIE / SHOW: UHHH wolfwalkers! VERY good i really liked it <3 i wanna rewatch song of the sea eventually, too! that ones also a favorite. the last show would probably be season 3 of infinity train ( I still resist the temptation to add Simon sometimes. he is such a terrible yet interesting little man ) or finally finishing watching hisuian snow :]
RECENT READ: if fanfiction doesnt count ( if it Does then wander boy by poptod, which is surprising its not one of the HUGE amounts of disco elysium fanfiction i've been chewing on lately ) then probably i think frankenstein by mary shelley, which i picked up and began reading but didn't finish :( still the most recent though! I wanna actually finish that + reread the long walk + read a bunch of other books, like the song of achilles by madeline miller, circe by madeline miller, orange world and other stories by karen russle, memorial: a version of homers illiad by alice oswald, the haunting of hill house by shirley jackson, good omens by neil gaiman and terry pratchett, the city & the city by china mieville, etc etc etc! ( if you guys have any suggestions actually, feel free to send em my way! )
INSPIRATION: horror! especially slashers, psychological horror, and 'bloodbath' horror ( selectively! carrie's got the vibes, saw does NOT ), psychological writing in general, a bunch of the books i have or plan on reading, mythology & legends, fanfiction and composition, music ( especially the weakerthans, the narcissist cookbook, hozier, etc ), poetry, and just!! learning methods of how things Generally are made, ig! how people paint, how people make clothes and make fabric, how people grow plants. i take a lot of inspiration from unexpected places, but a lot of those places are the act of creation in of itself. my writing might only be writing, but i try to embody a sense of color to it, of an artstyle you can almost taste, yknow? the composition in shows where blues look almost green and its like the world is basked in paint and there's just a feeling, indescribable, contextual but potent in of itself, the feeling of small moments everywhere, all at once, all the time. THAT SOUNDS REALLY PRETENTIOUS BUT LIKE... its true, yknow!! i like to embody a feeling in my writing, and i go to a lot of places to find it.
STORY BEHIND URL: once, a long time ago, my oc multimuse @cassiopiia was named orphic-ruin, and quillheel came second in my blogs list. i wanted them to match! so i thought of storytelling, which went to writing, then to pens, then to quills! and the 'heel' part comes from achilles heel, or the achilles tendon! as well as having ties to hermes' winged feet. in a way, its kinda saying 'vulnerable storyteller' or 'half-divine legend' or even kinda like a title or epithet vibe wise like you might find on a mythological figure ( ex: quill-heeled ) or something like that, which i think still fits the vibe p well to this day! if i did change the URL, idk what I'd make it now! i might eventually, but yeah!
tagged: @disassnbler ty ender!!!! <333

This is sorta a reply thingy to the Weiße Frauen post!!
there’s something similar to this in dutch mythology, “witte wieven” (old dutch for white women). These “white women” (sometimes called “wailing women”) are based off of the low-hanging mist that appears mainly over water and fields.
Theres a lot of different stories about them, sometimes theyre good sometimes not, sometimes theyre the ghosts of old witches, sometimes theyre so lonely they pull people under the ground / water to be with them.
The story that I remember the best is actually linked to a book from a themepark. In the book “baron 1889” theres a man wanting to find gold, the only problem is theres witte wieven protecting the gold. The village tried to warn him about the witte wieven but the man wouldnt listen. At first all is well, the man build a wonderful mining company and many people worked there. But then things got weird, blood pouring out of the cave walls. Hundreds of spiders infesting the caves, even skeletons were found. And yet, the mist was always present. The efteling (the themepark that made the book) also made a short movie about it with English subtitles so https://youtu.be/gMpAPmsql3s here it is!
There are witte wieven on the themepark attraction itself too, https://youtu.be/T4rfp_U7A24 at 1:09 (i cant make most of the singing out but the last part they sing is “we wailing women protect the gold” and the last one says “youve been warned” in old dutch) and at 4.13 they show up again (im gonna try and translate the song the best i can! “You had been warned. Disobedience. We wailing women protect the gold, and sabotage your descent (in reference to you going down into the mines during the attraction)” i cant make out the last part unfortunately)
Maybe this could be a little more fitting for vil? You could use that they haunt places for your story? Im sorry if i went on a little too long :,)
Oh, this one's intriguing. I felt like I learned a bit when I researched into it. Depictions seem to really vary, like you said, with some being kind and helpful while others being truly evil. I never heard of these before either, so it was fun to look into.
The book sounds interesting! I won't lie, I tried to watch the video and found no subtitles, so I lost interest like twenty seconds in and after trying to skip through to see if subtitles ever showed up. Sorry. But how you summarized the story does really sound fascinating.
But don't apologize. It was fun to hear! Not sure if I'll use it though. Yeah, it's a bit better than other ideas I've gone through, but it doesn't make me stop and think excitedly "oh yeah, that definitely Vil," you know? But I'll keep this one in mind just in case!

i'm gonna keep it real with you he's just as quiet as giyuu but he's a lot more withdrawn
like yeah he does the same thing where he notices when you're lying about being ok when you're not, but unlike giyuu he doesn't hide the fact that he thinks you're bullshitting
there isn't an ounce of subtlety with this dude and its partially cause i headcanon him as neurodivergent
as a neurodivergent person i've found it a lot easier to communicate and be in relationships with people who are also neurodivergent, and even though i headcanon him to have ADD i think that he thinks about things very similarly to how you do
it means that you two probably operate better together, and one of the main ways you hang out is by staying in the same room while doing separate tasks
like for instance; he isn't too into videogames, but he'll still look over to check out what you're playing even though he's grading papers while you two are laying in bed
a good activity to do together is watch tv though!! the only issue is that you might end up falling asleep on one another once you fall into that comfortable sort of silence that people usually do while watching tv, but lord knows both of you need the rest anyways
loves to cook and bake with you though!! he's not particularly good at baking, so most of the time he does the cooking for the day while you make the deserts and other associated items
he's always kind of had an issue with intimacy, so little moments like the listening to music and trying to figure out how to make mantecaditos on a sunday afternoon are the ones he really holds close to his heart (mantecaditos are one of my favs btw i love the guava in them fr)
he honestly just loves seeing you in your element and hearing you talk, and so it's not uncommon for you to be talking about an interest of your and his eyes to get all starstruck
its one of the few times you'll really see him unknowingly smile, and when you call him out for looking at you like that his face gets all red and he starts grumbling like a little kid that's been caught red handed
BUT YOU JUST MAKE HIM REALLY SOFT FOR SOME REASON LIKE... i think since ya'll would cook for each other ya'll would probably pack each other little lunches from time to time
every time he cracks one open during his break his heart melts a little
like theres this time that you make him chili soup for the winter with little cat-shaped breads to dip in it, and you attach a note saying 'Hope you have a purr-iffic day! Love you, take it easy on the kids.' and hE CANT HELP BUT BLUSH A LITTLE CAUSE ITS CUTEEE
like yes he fucking loves the shitty cat pun scrawled in your messy ass writing and yes he loves the fact that you went out of your way to make him lunch even though you knew there was a high chance he would be too busy sleeping or working to eat it but it makes him fall in love with you just a little bit more
he has to hide it just as mic barges in though otherwise he's gonna have an earful about how he's 'not as scary as he looks' or something LOL (he's not)
but overall i think ya'll just make each other really soft and he loves you a lot
like anytime you voice an insecurity or something it hurts him personally because he feels like you don't see yourself the way he and others do, even though he understands it wholeheartedly
he sits and listens to you regardless though, before assuring you that without a doubt you're just as pretty and sweet and worthy of love and attention as anyone else, if not more
RAUGHGHGH HE JUST LOVES YOU TO BITS IDKK
𝙽𝚂𝙵𝚆:
pretty sure everyone and their momma's said this before but this dude 100% has a breeding and size kink i dont care
i mean shit he's like 6 feet tall and built like a buff lightpole, how can he not use his size as an advantage over you??
aizawa s a very soft and slow lover, but he isn't afraid to take the reigns and blow your back out if the situation calls for it
hates to admit it but he is somewhat jealous; and if you two are on a mission and you have to act all nice with the target or some shit you best believe he'll remind everyone who you belong to once you get behind closed doors
and god knows that when this man gets in the mood he goes HARD
like most of the time he's very soft and slow like i said before, but when he's aggravated it's just something else entirely
i feel like he likes his partners with a little bit of bite to them too, but i dont think he'd be like a brat tamer or anything
he's too lazy LMAO
its why most of the time he'd rather just lay back and watch you ride him, taking the reins right before your realease a sort of subtle form of edging you so you can finish together
he hates to admit it but hes kinda sappy so most of the time he'd rather you two finish together
isn't like, terribly opposed to the concept of having kids but would probably want you to take plan b until you've had a discussion about it
doesn't mean his brain doesnt tell him to breed you tho 💀

Can you please make a very long speech post about Isekai? I want to learn about its history and it’s first appearance related to the modern-day definition in any culture. Please? For me.
Well... Alright, since people are interested in it.
Isekai quite literally means: Another World.
It comfortably sit in between Portal Fiction, Fantasy and Science fiction, in terms of genre, and it's its own thing.
So, Isekai does have roots in ancient mythology.
Namely the myth Urashima Tarō, whch involves a fisher man saving a turtle and getting wisked away into, well, a heavenly space (or another world.), before returning and dying. Fun stuff.
But it's easier to look towards Portal Fiction as being the starting point, because it includes... well, portals to another world.
Portal fantasy is when a character crosses into another world through a portal of some kind. (Often leading to a fantasy world.) The big distinction between Portal fantasy and Isekai, at least to me, is that in Portal fiction, the character who crosses into this other world will always go home at the end of the story . But in Isekai, the main character will always stay in the fantasy world.
(It's been argued that having a coming of age narrative is also vital to the Portal Fantasy genre, but I'm being more simplistic just so it's easier to understand).
Basicly, think of Inuyasha. The Kagome goes through the well to feudal Japan, have adventures, and then returns to the real world through the very same well. Other examples include Alice in Wonderland, Caroline, and The Wizard of Oz.
Now, All that being said, that's just backstory. There are elements we associate with Isekai, but it isn't Isekai.
That actual FIRST isekai novel, that has elements of what we know of as Isekai today, comes from:
Isekai no Yūsha (Warrior from Another World )
Tumblr media
Look, Isekai is in the title and everything!
It's a short fantasy novel about a high-schooler named Ryoji, who's summoned to take up a magic sword and fight against the demon king Gandar Boa.
The Book is out of print, and information on it is rather scarce. However, I do know it came out in 1979,making it one of the earliest examples of modern day Isekai…. I think.
Okay, look, I haven't read it, it's never been published outside of Japan, and it's name is so generic that it's hard to find much about it. But multiple sources told me it was the first notable example, so I'm rolling with it.
But I know what your asking. What about the first Isekai anime? Well, I've got you covered on that.
The first Isekai anime is
Aura Battler Dunbine (1983)
Tumblr media
The Summary, that I totally did not just steal from My Anime list, goes as follows:
Shou Zama is an ordinary 18-year-old from Tokyo who finds himself summoned to the medieval fantasy world of Byston Well. Upon arrival, he is put into service under the ambitious lord Drake Luft, who seeks to greatly expand his power. Those like Shou who come from "Upper Earth" possess strong aura power and are ordered to pilot "Aura Battlers," insectoid mecha designed by a man named Shot Weapon, who also came from Upper Earth.
As Shou finds himself fighting alongside his new comrades, they put their lives on the line to prevent the villain from taking over Byston Well before it's too late.
Mechs, fantasy, special powers only people from our world possess? Can't be any more anime than that!
It ticks a lot of the boxes that we tend to expect from most Isekai anime, but it is missing one thing. Where's the video game mechanics? Where's the video game worlds?
Well don't, I've got you covered. The first Isekai with video games being a proud feature is:
Super Mario Bros: Peach-Hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen! (1986)
youtube
(For those who want to watch it in beautiful 4k)
Yes, that's right. Mario got there first.
The Mario Bros. get sucked into their Famicom game, and must now rescue Princess Peach from King Bowser Koppa.
This Mario Film is notable for being one of the earliest Isekai to involve a video game world, and mild usage of video game mechanics.
For more information, I would highly recomend this video here:
youtube
For Mother's basement, as he goes a lot more in depth then I could in a blog post.
But yeah, that's my Isekai speal. I hope you enjoy it.

1. Are you named after anyone?
nope. apparently my mum had still been thinking up names when i was actually born, so there was a period of time where i just didn't have a name. eventually she went with 'abigail' bc she likes classical names
2. When was the last time you cried?

absolutely not. my cats are more than enough for me
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
it's the only way i can get through life now
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
how loud they are. a specific tone or volume, for lack of better phrasing, makes a grating sensation happen in my head so it's hard not to notice

i loved history in secondary school
