they want to talk about mental illness and acceptance and how everyone is a little ocd it's cute and quirky and their "intrusive thoughts" are about cutting their hair off and you say yours are about taking a razorblade to your eye and they say ew can you not and everyone is a little adhd sometimes! except if you're late it's a personality flaw and it's because you are careless and cruel (and someone else with adhd mentions they can be on time, so why can't you?) and it's not an eating disorder if it's girl dinner! it's not mania if it's girl math! what do you mean you blew all of your savings on nonrefundable plane tickets for a plane you didn't even end up taking. what do you mean that you are afraid of eating. get over it. they roll their little lips up into a sneer. can you not, like, trauma dump?

they love it on them they like to wear pieces of your suffering like jewels so that it hangs off their tongue in rapiers. they are allowed to arm-chair diagnose and cherrypick their poisons but you can't ever miss too many showers because that's, like, "fuckken gross?" so anyone mean is a narcissist. so anyone with visual tics is clearly faking it and is so cringe. but they get to scream and hit customer service employees because well, i got overwhelmed.

you keep seeing these posts about how people pleasers are "inherently manipulative" and how it's totally unfair behavior. but you are a people pleaser, you have an ingrained fawn response. in the comments, you have typed and deleted the words just because it is technically true does not make it an empathetic or kind reading of the reaction about one million times. it is technically accurate, after all. you think of catholic guilt, how sometimes you feel bad when doing a good deed because the sense of pride you get from acting kind - that pride is a sin. the word "manipulation" is not without bias or stigma attached to it. many people with the fawn response are direct victims of someone who was malignantly manipulative. calling the victims manipulative too is an unfair and unkind reading of the situation. it would be better and more empathetic to say it is safety-seeking or connection-seeking behavior. yes, it can be toxic. no, in general it is not intended to be toxic. there is no reason to make mentally ill people feel worse for what we undergo.

you type why is everyone so quick to turn on someone showing clear signs of trauma but you already know the fucking answer, so what's the point of bothering. you kind of hate those this is what anxiety looks like! infographics because at this point you're so good at white-knuckling through a severe panic attack that people just think you're stoic. even people who know the situation sometimes comment you just don't seem depressed. and you're not a 9 year old white kid so there's no way you're on the spectrum, you're not obsessed with trains and you were never a good mathematician. okay then.

mental illness is trending. in 2012 tumblr said don't romanticize our symptoms but to be fair tiktok didn't exist yet. there's these series of videos where someone pretends to be "the most boring person on earth" and is just being a normal fucking person, which makes your skin crawl, because that probably means you are boring. your friend reads aloud a profile from tinder - no depressed bitches i fucking hate that mental illness crap. your father says that medication never actually works.

you still haven't told your grandmother that you're in therapy. despite everything (and the fact it's helping): you just don't want her to see you differently.

my mum died last night

#i was with her. i spoke comforting words to her as her breathing slowed #she didn't suffer - she wasn't in any pain. she heard me and became slower and slower then i... saw her die #i never predicted i'd be there at the moment of death #it was her time. her body had been slowly shutting down the last three days and she'd been officially dying for 5 months #she was so strong. she was hanging on for me. needing to know i'd be able to survive with her gone #once it was clear that things were gonna be fine (besides the emotional toll) she started to truly let go #i've been with her whenever i could be the last three days. and night nurses watched her as i slept #last nights nurse woke me to be with her in her final moments #besides hearing me talk the last few days - i was also running star trek for her to listen to #she couldn't communicate or move but we all knew she was aware of things around her #i gave her words of reassurance and comfort and the last words she heard me say were ''i love you'' #and three days ago before she lost the ability to speak the last words she managed were ''i love you'' #so things went as well as they could be considering the situation #she died a little over 12 hours ago. it was 7 hours before they could take the body away. that was. haunting #it's been a rough day. worst day of my life. but mum is at peace now. and i have a lot of kind people to support me #everything will be okay eventually and i have my whole life ahead of me and mum wants that life to be good #so i musn't give up. now matter how depressed i feel

I feel like not that long ago people were upset that others were saying they didn’t like something, so wording changed.

I do believe that we should be honest on whether or not we like something (while being kind/gracious about it), but that might be the reason why some people are more nervous to just come out and say it?

Again I may be so incredibly wrong; I’ve been dipping my toes in and out of the fandom for a while now.

I think you have a valid point. There's a lot of people in the fandom, and we have different opinions, some of which contradict each other. Sometimes one view dominates, then the other. We vacillate and change, which is only natural.

Regarding the recent wording change, I'm not sure what specific thing that was in response to--there was some conversation in the vein of "if you don't like it, why are you here?" Which was more in response to the overwhelming negativity the series has started to accrue with the long interims, its current direction, and fans getting older. The sort of "people don't want to hear about how much you hate the thing they love." Even if you've established yourself as a fan of it previously.

Which I think can coexist alongside simply saying you don't like something. I can say the new cover isn't really hitting for me without tearing it apart and making those who really enjoy it feel bad, you know? I don't mind it, understand why it's like that, and appreciate Jason Chan's artistic prowess, but that doesn't make it interesting to look at.

But you're right, there's been this push to justify why you dislike things, at least in online spaces. So it's harder/makes people nervous to say "I just don't like this." Myself included. Instead it's "this was rushed" "this was last minute" "Shannon's publishers are pressuring her" "her editor's are pressuring her" etc.

Which, again, is entirely possible. Writing and publishing is hard; it takes a lot of work and pleasing the industry isn't easy. But there are points where--I think--people approach it with bad faith.

To use the cover as an example again, a lot of people are saying it's rushed. Possible. But is there a history of rushing covers? Not that we've seen, all the others have been spectacular, detailed, and thorough. What would they gain by rushing it? They could meet deadlines sooner, have something to share with the audience since we're in a weird period. But they could also damage their marketing with a subpar product, especially given the series' popularity. Why do we think the cover looks rushed? Its simplicity, its different mood. But, again, Shannon said that was intentional. There's Keefe's appearance, which is really hit or miss for people. I don't think Keefe not looking as attractive as people imagine/want is a result of rushing, but because there's an impossible standard for him as The Boy of the series. And so on and so forth.

The point of that being we've come to this conclusion, I think, hastily. While book 9.5 wasn't the original plan so of course timelines change, I don't think S&S has a history or motive to rush. There's already an established precedent for delays when necessary, the cover came out later than others, and there's (i think) a solid, purposeful reason the mood is different.

Could I be wrong? Absolutely. But the rapidity of the conclusion and with how much it feels we've been outsourcing our dislike the past few years I'm started to feel a little skeptical. Boy who cried wolf kinda thing. Was it rushed again, or do we just not like it? Feels like a slapstick explanation without further examination

And of course you don't have to analyze everything, but some things are a bit more complex, you know?

Point is: I think we're overusing these explanations (pressured, rushed) and at this point if we don't delve further into it it starts to lose its meaning. There is an argument for being rushed and pressured! But without getting into it, I can't tell if we're thinking it through or just avoiding saying we don't like something for fear of judgment/reprisal.

Suddenly got the craziest fucking idea I've thought of yet:

Zane was originally going to be made to help the elemental alliance in the serpentine wars, per the alliance requesting Julien for something so technologically advanced it'll end the war.

and so Julien started working on Zane during the conflict, and with the elemental alliance providing him with the necessary recourses to create Zane. (metal, wires, screws, schematics and blueprints and other small supplies, a suspiciously powerful and most definitely magical power source, etc).

But the war ends, and the serpentine are sealed away.

So now Julien is left with a half finished robot that wouldn't even have a purpose if it were to be alive, but Julien decides he's going to give it a new purpose.

"If it's not going to be a weapon of war, than it's going to be a weapon of peace."

So he stars reprogramming Zane, from "Mostly human machine designed to fight." to "Almost human machine made to protect those who cannot protect themselves".

He starts adding in extra features for Zane, stuff like breathing, blinking, eating, so he comes off as more human.

he codes in what would be the nindroid equivalent of someone developing a new hobby and getting good at it.

Such as cooking, or perhaps making ice sculptures or even learning how to ride a snowboard considering how he lives in a frozen forest (last one was from Quest For the Lost Powers book).

But he also adds in other stuff to help Zane out in his purpose of protecting, such as a battle ram mode to bust down doors, a lamp head mode to help light out dark areas, being able to shoot out cold air from his hands to cool stuff down without the usage of ice powers (last one was from the start of season 3).

And eventually, he gets so attached to this project of his, that he starts viewing it as more than a machine made to prolong the peace, and by the time he actives Zane for the first time ever, he can't feel but view Zane as a son.

Zane was Julien's life work, "Machine" doesn't do the nindroid enough justice, it doesn't feel right, and it isn't right.

So, even his plans of making Zane a weapon of peace change, and now he views Zane as a son, and as his own person.

Look, I don't care if this headcanon/idea breaks Canon, fuck if I care, but the opportunity is too great, it would would give us an answer to a good number of questions.

A casual note that as Liyue-native, as much as Yelan may be very well-traveled and thus may be familiar to various degrees with foreign cultures, they are still that to her: foreign. If we were to take Fontaine's inspiration of France to heart, it wouldn't surprise me if the common 'informal' greeting of the cheek kiss would be practiced there. Reo's jerseys reading just "Reo" is such a Choice because I think he's the only one aside from Rin and Sae who goes by his first name. But at least in the brothers' case it makes sense to distinguish them since they have the same last name. It's the time of year to get really upset that Jane Austen never finished The Watsons.

It would have put the Jane Fairfax/Fanny Price Changeling Child plotline front-and-center, with a heroine who'd been adopted into high society only to be sent back to live with a lower-class family she no longer knows.

But she'd have had an Anne Elliot sister whose good-natured practicality keeps the family together even while she deals with the heartbreak of being separated from the man she once loved.

And a harpy of a sister whose machinations make everyone's lives miserable.

And a brother who's a surgeon (!) who has his own hopeless unrequited love story happening in the background.

And when their father died, the girls would have had to live with a higher-class brother and his disagreeable wife who would have found them a burden.

Meanwhile, our heroine is being pursued by a socially-awkward, proud lord who doesn't know how to discuss anything but hunting.

But she's really in love with a humble, kind curate who is devoted to caring for his widowed sister and her children.

But the curate is being romantically pursued by the lord's predatory mother.

And mixed up in all this is a charming, lively young man who uses his skills to grovel for position with his betters.

In short, we could have had Jane Fairfax and Anne Elliot as devoted sisters forced to live with John and Fanny Dashwood while their sister Lucy Steele causes problems, a Charles Musgrove version of Mr. Darcy pursues Jane, Anne gets a chance to be reunited with her Wentworth, and Jane falls in love with a Henry Tilney version of Edward Ferrars who's being pursued by Lady Susan, while Wickham is doing his best to be Mr. Collins. Plus a romance plot for a brother! We could have had a book with the family complexities and darker issues of Sense and Sensibility and Mansfield Park and the light, bright and sparkling humor of Pride and Prejudice.

But we don't, because she never finished it, and I'm so upset.

First and foremost, while this post contains content about docking, I am firmly not interested in debating it. It is part of the standard for this breed in my country and I'm not going to tolerate knocking reputable breeders for adhering to said breed standard.

That said, I am potentially interested in getting into breeding and would like some input from knowledgeable folks.

Some up front info: I have experience with the breed and absolutely adore them. It is a docked breed and part of my interest in getting into breeding is because I want a undocked dog without sacrificing quality.

If I did pursue breeding it would only be under mentorship.

The medium length version of my plan would be to acquire a wonderful male puppy from an excellent breeder. Title him in agility, conformation, and some original breed purpose things. Do above and beyond health testing. Basically prove him to be an exemplary example of the breed. Throughout this I would also be developing a solid relationship with his breeder.

I would want his breeder to arrange the pairing for his breeding, first litter at minimum. I would want to be fully educated on why they decided on the pairing they do and everything that goes into that.

From that breeding I would like to keep a female. She would be docked per breed standard and I would prove her as I did my male. If, and only if, all these things played out this way would I then use her as my foundation bitch for my own program in which the puppies would be undocked.

My program would likely not produce dogs often. Only when I am looking for my next dog and know that I can find quality homes for all puppies. I would also look to my mentor for education on how to match puppies to homes that suit them and all that entails.

So my question to knowledgable folks is, does this sound like a good approach for getting into breeding? Would you be open to working with and essentially taking someone like me under your wing?

As much as I desire an undocked dog from this breed, I don't want to pursue that in an irresponsible or impulsive manner.

I had a friend come to visit last week, and one evening as we sat around drawing together we decided to both draw that scene where Pippin finds Merry after the battle.  I’ve drawn the scene before but not in a while and I’ve changed the design for both the characters.  And even though I am still getting over that art block from this year I had fun.  (Also that Merry-with-braids post has been doing well lately so I decided maybe I should finish off today’s art dump with this one since he has braids here as well.)

#merry #pippin #the man the myth the legends #one shiny #my trash #heck yeah bromance #the worst sort of trouble #/end classification tags #you guys i don't know WHY it has been so hard to draw lately and i kind of hate everything i make #but there are elements to each piece that trick me into sharing them #and then i come back and only see the mistakes and then kick myself for sharing it #it's the worst with the commissions because impostor syndrome comes at me for ''charging people money for this garbage'' #at this point i'm just ignoring the criticism side of my brain because otherwise i'd never show anybody any drawings #but that does mean i don't fix some of the mistakes that i would have no problem noticing and adjusting otherwise #so apologies for basically everything i've posted this week lol #i am aware of many of the problems with the drawings but am too lazy to fix them #at least this is really the only one i mind because the others were comedy doodles #on a more positive note i keep drawing hobbits with bigger and bigger ears which makes them look more and more unique and charming (i think) #on a neutral note i finally caved to the intrusive thoughts and added fur in the arches of hobbit feet to explain why they walk so quietly #i know it's cursed but nobody minds it on cats and dogs so maybe you guys will let it slide on hobbits too #anyway #so ends the week of activity after months of radio silence #i shall now go back into semi-hibernation and i'll see you guys again whenever fate decides it shall be so

Generally speaking, it's a well common trait for a character to be loving to everyone except for themself, but it's important for the audience to keep in mind that Micah doesn't follow that archetype and fall into that strong consistent self-hatred when every single day since they reached to early twenties, they would be more kinder and forgiving to themself for what and how they are like. Micah does try to love themself more often from significant to smaller ways and from little to greater degree. Some of the practices that Micah engages in as a form of self-love are:

Drawing hearts with stars in marker around their recent small injuries.

When Micah forms a negative thought to themself, they try to find something positive about themself to retaliate that self-negativity.

Have journals to document solely their joys and comforts and accomplishments.

Although they are still lost with certain aspects of themself while there are parts of them that Micah is still anxious or insecure about, they do firmly believe that they deserve so much better, while they should be given the kindness and respect that they deserve to have from the world that doesn't love them enough

I hope you all know that the King Papyrus ending literally lives rent free in my head I think about it a lot-

#i think about this ending so much that the first name i really went by on the internet was King lmfao djgfhjkdgndfh #Anyways I think about it SO SO much it is SUCH a good character study for him GOD QAQ #Dude he was probably so excited when he was chosen to be king look what you did to him you gave a perfectly good skeleton severe depression #It's also a good character study for sans too I'd like to argue #like idk i think about it so much anyways it's about sans lying to papyrus about where their friends are because he knows that's like #the last thing holding him together. It's about Papyrus being aware of this but kind of refusing to believe anything else #it's about this putting a strain on their relationship it's about sans doing a bunch of work to help papyrus like #guy that does no work ever does a bunch of work there's something to say about that but i'm avoiding doing homework i can't get into it now #it's about Papyrus trying his fucking best but not knowing what the fuck he's doing but having to keep it together #cause the SECOND he cracks under pressure everything is gonna go to shit cause he is quite literally the undergrounds only hope #it's about Papyrus literally being the last option for a ruler. it's about- #I need to get back to doing homework you get the gist dshjgkndfh
