despite only being a child, morgan knows that you and bucky are meant to be - you just need a gentle nudge. (1K)

requested: nope, I saw a titkok from eliseballon and omg i adore their povs and saw one about a scenario like this and HAD to expand on it with bucky. warnings: none, pure fluff here

"So you're going to just sit tight for five minutes, right?" Holding your hands out in front of you, you begin to back away whilst Morgan sits on the sofa with a toy on her lap.

Morgan nods, not daring to take her eyes from the TV as Cinderella plays. "Yeah," She mutters, unaware of the relief alleviating from you as you turn the corner from the room and rush toward the bathroom.

Whilst absent, Bucky wanders through to the shared living space, having heard the TV playing. At first, he doesn't notice the young Stark sat, full of awe at Cinderella's dress changing thanks to her Fairy Godmother.

"I'd love a dress like that." Morgan comments, glancing over to see Bucky stood behind her, watching along. "Will you watch it with me, please?" She asks, all doe-eyed despite Bucky's resistance. "Please?" Dragging the word out, Bucky knows he cannot refuse a child, let alone the young Stark herself.

"Sure," He eventually responds, moving around the furniture to sit on the far end of the sofa, trying to allow himself to relax as Morgan hums to the Fairy Godmother's song. "she seems special, huh?" Bucky thinks aloud as the pumpkin changes into a carriage.

l"Well of course she is," Morgan states matter of factly, showing signs of having the same attitude her father had. "Cinderella deserves it!"

"And where's she going?" Bucky asks, not having the patience to fully understand the plot. He overheard you talking about it briefly earlier with Morgan when you were trying to pick a film for her to watch whilst Pepper was out, leaving you in charge.

He couldn't help himself but listen in, admire your patience as Morgan couldn't decide between Planet of the Apes or Cinderella. Ultimately choosing Cinderella after your terrible attempt at the synopsis of the former movie, knowing she'd be traumatised if you opted for that one.

Back in the room, Morgan averts her gaze from the TV, fully facing Bucky. "She's going to the ball to meet the Prince and fall in love!"

Bucky nods along, watching Cinderella wave to the Fairy Godmother whilst the horses pull her carriage along. "Right," He mutters. "but why would the Prince fall in love with her? She, she's no one."

Morgan can faintly hear you talking to someone outside of the room, and nudges herself closer toward Bucky. "I may be six, but I know you aren't talking about the movie, huh?" She crosses her arms over her chest. Damn, she really is Tony's daughter, isn't she?

Clearly taken aback, Bucky opens his mouth to respond, but words fail him.

"Y/n's the prince?" She asks, and Bucky nods. "And you're Cinderella." Again, Bucky has the same response, ignoring Morgan's giggle at the thought of Bucky wearing a ballgown.

"I'm not enough for her. I, I can't put on a new disguise and pretend to be someone I'm not." Bucky explains, looking down at his metal arm, something he'll never be able to disguise or forget about.

"You would be the perfect match for Y/n." Morgan comments with a toothy grin.

Chuckling under his breath, Bucky shakes his head. "I'm not kid," He tells her, trying to brush it off. "I'm not enough for her." He admits, so lost in his head he doesn't hear you enter the room.

"I think I'll decide that for myself, Barnes." You speak up with a shy smile.

Tensing at the sound of your voice, Bucky slowly looks over his shoulder to see you stood there with your hands held together. "I, Y/n," Stumbling over his words, Bucky's eyes only widen as you move and sit down beside him on the sofa.

"Mind if I watch the rest with you guys?" You ask, glancing over to Morgan who smiles brightly. Looking back to Bucky, you can see he's trying to remain perfectly still. "This okay, Bucky?" Lowering your voice, you nervously smile at him, hoping it'd ease some of his nerves.

And truth be told, it did. "Yeah," He breathes out. "sure, doll." It slips out, and Bucky quickly looks down to ensure you're not moving away from him. But to his surprise, you move closer and rest your hand on his.

"Oh, I love this part," You mutter to Bucky, watching Cinderella dancing the night away with the Prince.

Bucky watches your eyes light up with glee at the screen, similar to Morgan who is now lying down, trying her best to stay awake. "I'll take you dancin' like that sometime." Bucky tells you with a signature smirk, noticing your lips part before turning up into a smile.

“You making a promise there, Bucky?” You can’t help the light giggle that follows and Bucky can feel his heart swell at the sound.

“I promise, and you’ll look better than Cinderella there.” He motions to the screen as Cinderella runs back away from the ball when the clock strikes twelve.

“You have too much faith in me there.” You tease, but Bucky takes your hand in his and squeezes it lightly.

“Well, Morgan thinks we’re a perfect match.” He reasons, glancing over to see her fast asleep. “And we can’t argue with a child.”

You nod along, suppressing a laugh. “Course we can’t.” Shuffling closer, you rest your head on his shoulder. “That would be a crime.”

Smiling to himself, Bucky peacefully watches the rest of the film, feeling your breathing slowing down drastically. “Doll?” He whispers, realising you’re fast asleep.

As the credits play, Pepper walks in and Bucky rests his finger against his lips.

“Good time?” She mouths, walking over to Morgan and gently picks her up, feeling her limp body rest in her arms.

Bucky nods in response as Pepper walks away, but whilst her back is turned Morgan lifts her head up from Pepper's shoulder and gives Bucky a thumbs up.

“Nice one kid,” He mutters to himself, reaching for the remote and turns the TV off, allowing you a peaceful slumber.
